This article reports that social scientist and author Lon G. Nungesser has donated his Hope for Humanity papers to the Joseph A. Labadie Collection of the University of Michigan Library's Department of Rare Books and Special Collections. Diagnosed as having AIDS in 1983, Nungesser was given six months to live, as of February 1989, but chose to avoid traditional therapy in favor of health food, exercise, yoga, and meditation. Six years later the cancer he developed is in remission and he is in fair health. The decision to donate his papers came as a result of his desire to have his work preserved for others as a foundation from which to build medical and social systems that promote a healthier personal psychology.
