In this paper, a data processing approach was developed to accurately extract the ring-down time and amplitude of the saturated cavity ring-down (CRD) signal; both were utilized to determine simultaneously the high reflectance and residual transmittance of highly reflective (HR) mirrors with a dual-channel CRD configuration. The influence of saturation was eliminated by deleting the beginning saturated data points of the saturated CRD signal and fitting the remaining non-saturated CRD signal to a single-exponential function. By comparing the reflectance/transmittance measurement results of HR samples obtained via data processing of saturated CRD signals and via single-exponentially fitting non-saturated CRD signals with utilization of neutral density filter(s) to eliminate saturation, it was found that the reflectances obtained with both methods were in excellent agreement, while the residual transmittance obtained with the saturated CRD signal was more accurate than that obtained with the neutral-density-filter-attenuated non-saturated CRD signal. The proposed data processing method eliminated the need to use the neutral density filters, therefore avoiding the adding of the optical density error to the uncertainty of residual transmittance measurement and improving the measurement accuracy. The proposed data processing method also extended the dynamic range of the dual-channel CRD scheme for simultaneous measurement of reflectance, transmittance and optical loss.

Using first-principles theory, this work purposes Ru-doped Janus WSSe (Ru-WSSe) monolayer as a potential gas sensor for detection of three typical gas species (CO, C2H2, and C2H4), in order to evaluate the operation status of the oil-immersed transformers. The Ru-doping behavior on the WSSe surface is analyzed, giving rise to the preferred doping site by the replacement of a Se atom with the formation energy of 0.01 eV. The gas adsorption of three gas species onto the Ru-WSSe monolayer is conducted, and chemisorption is identified for all three gas systems with the adsorption energy following the order: CO (−2.22 eV) > C2H2 (−2.01 eV) > C2H4 (−1.70 eV). Also, the modulated electronic properties and the frontier molecular orbital are investigated to uncover the sensing mechanism of Ru-WSSe monolayer upon three typical gases. Results reveal that the sensing responses of the Ru-WSSe monolayer, based on the variation of energy gap, to CO, C2H2, and C2H4 molecules are calculated to be 1.67 × 106, 2.10 × 105, and 9.61 × 103, respectively. Finally, the impact of the existence of O2 molecule for gas adsorption and sensing is also analyzed to uncover the potential of Ru-WSSe monolayer for practical application in the air atmosphere. The obtained high electrical responses manifest strong potential as a resistive sensor for detection of three gases. The findings hold practical implications for the development of novel gas sensing materials based on Janus WSSe monolayer. We anticipate that our results will inspire further research in this domain, particularly for applications in electrical engineering where the reliable detection of fault gases is paramount for maintaining the integrity and safety of power systems.

A novel AgCuTi brazing foil with a unique microstructure was developed, which could achieve strong vacuum brazing of Ti6Al4V (TC4) and sapphire. The brazing foil was composed of Ag solid solution (Ag(s,s)), Cu solid solution (Cu(s,s)), and layered Ti-rich phases, and had a low liquidus temperature of 790 °C and a narrow melting range of 16 °C, facilitating the defect-free joining of TC4 and sapphire. The sapphire/TC4 joint fabricated by using this novel AgCuTi brazing foil exhibited an outstanding average shear strength of up to 132.2 MPa, which was the highest value ever reported. The sapphire/TC4 joint had a characteristic structure, featuring a brazing seam reinforced by TiCu particles and a thin Ti3(Cu,Al)3O reaction layer of about 1.3 μm. The fracture mechanism of the sapphire/TC4 joint was revealed. The crack originated at the brazing seam with TiCu particles, then propagated through the Ti3(Cu,Al)3O reaction layer, detached the reaction layer from the sapphire, and finally penetrated into the sapphire. This study offers valuable insights into the design of active brazing alloys and reliable metal–ceramic bonding.

The sterilization of liquid eggs plays a crucial role in the production of liquid egg products. Traditional pasteurization techniques can easily cause protein denaturation, while non-thermal sterilization techniques are often constrained by processing intensity and time. Improving the effectiveness of liquid egg sterilization while preserving the stability of its functional attributes poses a significant challenge. In response to this issue, a synergistic ultrasonic mild thermal sterilization system for liquid eggs is proposed, accompanied by the optimization of its process parameters. COMSOL is employed to simulate the acoustic field distribution of the ultrasonic–thermal system in the liquid egg medium. Verification is conducted through acoustic intensity measurements, and analysis is performed to obtain the optimal arrangement of ultrasonic transducers. Based on Modbus communication, an ultrasonic–thermal synergistic sterilization system is designed. Sterilization experiments are conducted with both 20 kHz + 28 kHz and 20 kHz + 40 kHz multifrequency ultrasound, compared with traditional 20 kHz single-frequency ultrasound. The results indicate that multifrequency ultrasound improves sterilization efficiency by approximately 15% compared to traditional single-source ultrasound. Utilizing multifrequency ultrasonic–thermal synergistic sterilization experiments, a three-factor, three-level response surface test is conducted with sterilization rate and foaming properties as evaluation criteria. The results indicate a strong correlation between ultrasonic frequency, processing time, heating temperature, and sterilization performance, with the impact magnitude being sterilization temperature > processing time > ultrasound frequency. Parameter optimization analysis is performed using a genetic algorithm, yielding sterilization conditions of 55 °C, 11 min and 30 s processing time, and 20 + 40 kHz ultrasonic frequency. The liquid egg sterilization rate is 99.32%, an average decimal reduction of 3.17 log values, and foaming properties are 42.79%.Through comparative analysis, it is determined that the sterilization rate of the ultrasonic–thermal synergistic sterilization system meets national standards, and functional properties such as foaming are superior to traditional pasteurization. This validates the proposed ultrasonic–thermal synergistic liquid egg sterilization control system as effective and feasible.

During the life activities of microorganisms, a variety of secondary metabolites are produced, including antimicrobials and antitumor drugs, which are widely used in clinical practice. In addition to exploring new antibiotics, this makes it one of the research priorities of Actinomycetes to effectively increase the yield of antibiotics in production strains by various means. Most antibiotic-producing strains have a variety of functional regulatory factors that regulate their growth, development, and secondary metabolite biosynthesis processes. Through the study of precursor substances in antibiotic biosynthesis, researchers have revealed the precursor biosynthesis process and the mechanism by which precursor synthesis regulators affect the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, which can be used to obtain engineered strains with high antibiotic production. This paper summarizes the supply of antibiotic biosynthesis precursors and the progress of research on the role of regulators in the process of precursors in biosynthesis. This lays the foundation for the establishment of effective breeding methods to improve antibiotic yields through the manipulation of precursor synthesis genes and related regulators.

A workshop, as a crowded place, is quite easy to cause serious casualties and economic losses once there is a fire. In this paper, Pathfinder software was used to simulate fire emergency evacuation in a workshop of a large factory with building structural symmetry. According to the simulation results, several obstacles to the evacuation were discovered and further analyzed. The results showed that the main factors affecting the evacuation were the width of exits, the distribution of occupants and the effective evacuation width of stairs. Among them, only changing the width of exits had little influence on shortening evacuation time. While changing the effective evacuation width of stairs could greatly relieve the evacuation pressure, every increase of 0.5 m in the width of the staircase could shorten the evacuation time by 30.0 s. Meanwhile, the larger the number of people in high-rise buildings, the longer the evacuation time was. Therefore, the means of restricting people from entering the high-rise buildings in batches could be used to prevent personnel from being evacuated in time when a fire incident occurs.

Lotus pods in unstructured environments often present multi-scale characteristics in the captured images. As a result, it makes their automatic identification difficult and prone to missed and false detections. This study proposed a lightweight multi-scale lotus pod identification model, MLP-YOLOv5, to deal with this difficulty. The model adjusted the multi-scale detection layer and optimized the anchor box parameters to enhance the small object detection accuracy. The C3 module with transformer encoder (C3-TR) and the shuffle attention (SA) mechanism were introduced to improve the feature extraction ability and detection quality of the model. GSConv and VoVGSCSP modules were adopted to build a lightweight neck, thereby reducing model parameters and size. In addition, SIoU was utilized as the loss function of bounding box regression to achieve better accuracy and faster convergence. The experimental results on the multi-scale lotus pod test set showed that MLP-YOLOv5 achieved a mAP of 94.9%, 3% higher than the baseline. In particular, the model’s precision and recall for small-scale objects were improved by 5.5% and 7.4%, respectively. Compared with other mainstream algorithms, MLP-YOLOv5 showed more significant advantages in detection accuracy, parameters, speed, and model size. The test results verified that MLP-YOLOv5 can quickly and accurately identify multi-scale lotus pod objects in complex environments. It could effectively support the harvesting robot by accurately and automatically picking lotus pods.

In the contemporary context, the significance of detecting harmful gases cannot be overstated, as it profoundly affects both environmental integrity and human welfare. In this study, theoretically, density functional theory was employed to explore the adsorption behavior of three prevalent hazardous gases, namely CO, NO2, and SO2, on silver-atom-modified tungsten disulfide (WS2) monolayer. The multifaceted analysis encompasses an array of critical aspects, including the adsorption structure, adsorption energy, electron transfer, and charge density difference to unravel the adsorption behavior. Further exploration of electronic properties encompassing band structure, density of states (DOS), and work function was conducted. The ambit of our exploration extends to the desorption properties based on adsorption-free energies. Among these gas molecules, NO2 stands out with the highest adsorption energy and the most substantial electron transfer. Notably, each of these adsorption processes triggers a redistribution of electron density, with NO2 exhibiting the most pronounced effect. Furthermore, the adsorptions of CO, NO2, and SO2 induce a noteworthy reduction in the band gap, prompting the reconfiguration of molecular orbitals. Additionally, the adsorption of these gases also leads to an increase in the work function of Ag-WS2 to a different extent. Our investigation of desorption properties uncovers that Ag-WS2 can adeptly function at ambient temperatures to detect CO and SO2. However, for NO2 detection, higher temperatures become imperative due to the necessity for poison removal. The implications of our findings underscore the tremendous potential of Ag-WS2 as a sensing material for detecting these hazardous gases. Our research extends to the broader realm of surface modification of transition metal dichalcogenides and their promising applications in the domain of gas sensing.

Ruthenium (Ru) is a refractory metal that has applications in the semiconductor industry as a sputtering target material. However, conventional powder metallurgy methods cannot produce dense and fine-grained Ru targets with preferred orientation. Here, we present a novel method of hot-pressing deformation to fabricate Ru targets with high relative density (98.8%), small grain size (~4.4 μm) and strong (002) texture. We demonstrate that applying pressures of 30–40 MPa at 1400 °C transforms cylindrical Ru samples into disk-shaped targets with nearly full densification in the central region. We also show that the hardness and the (002)/(101) peak intensity ratio of the targets increase with the pressure, indicating enhanced mechanical and crystallographic properties. Our study reveals the mechanisms of densification and texture formation of Ru targets by hot-pressing deformation.

Scene matching plays a vital role in the visual positioning of aircraft. The position and orientation of aircraft can be determined by comparing acquired real-time imagery with reference imagery. To enhance precise scene matching during flight, it is imperative to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the reference imagery’s matchability beforehand. Conventional approaches to image matchability analysis rely heavily on features that are manually designed. However, these features are inadequate in terms of comprehensiveness, efficiency, and taking into account the scene matching process, ultimately leading to unsatisfactory results. This paper innovatively proposes a core approach to quantifying matchability by utilizing scene information from imagery. The first proposal for generating image matchability samples through a simulation of the matching process has been developed. The RSPNet network architecture is designed to effectively leverage regional scene perception in order to accurately predict the matchability of reference imagery. This network comprises two core modules: saliency analysis and uniqueness analysis. The attention mechanism employed by saliency analysis module extracts features at different levels and scales, guaranteeing an accurate and meticulous quantification of image saliency. The uniqueness analysis module quantifies image uniqueness by comparing neighborhood scene features. The proposed method is compared with traditional and deep learning methods for experiments based on simulated datasets, respectively. The results demonstrate that RSPNet exhibits significant advantages in terms of accuracy and reliability.

Groundwater function zoning is an important means to ensure that groundwater plays its various functions, which can provide a scientific basis for the protection and development of groundwater resources. Water resources are scarce in the Central Plains Urban Agglomeration (CPUA), so it is of great significance to evaluate groundwater vulnerability and to zone groundwater function in this area. In this study, the resource supply function (RSF), eco-environment function (EEF), and geo-environment function (GEF) of groundwater were analyzed using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), maximum method, and dominant mark method, so as to divide the shallow groundwater function in the plain of the CPUA. The results show that the reservation areas (32.0%) are distributed in the areas from Luoning County to Yanjin County, Changyuan County to Xinzheng County, and the areas near mountainous in the south of the CPUA. The geological-disaster-prone areas (29.5%) are distributed in the areas from Ruyang County to Luohe City, Weihui County to Jiyuan City, Xingyang County to Changge County, Changyuan County to Yuanyang County, and Kaifeng City. The development and utilization areas (6.4%) are distributed near mountainous areas in the CPUA. The ecologically vulnerable areas (7.5%) are distributed in the east of Kaifeng City and the northeast of Xinxiang City. The conservation areas (24.6%) are distributed in the areas from Ruyang County to Wuyang County, Xinzheng County to Xingyang County, the north of Xuchang City, the east of Luohe City, Kaifeng City, and Xinxiang City. In order to better manage the groundwater, this study evaluates the vulnerability of the groundwater using the DRASTIC model and makes a single indicator sensitivity analysis. The results show that the accuracies of indicators D, A, and I are particularly important for this vulnerability evaluation. According to the groundwater vulnerability and the land use types, some suggestions were put forward. The research results can provide a reference for groundwater management and development in the CPUA and other areas.

Accurate segmentation of lotus pods and stalks with pose variability is a prerequisite for realizing the robotic harvesting of lotus pods. However, the complex growth environment of lotus pods causes great difficulties in conducting the above task. In this study, an instance segmentation model, LPSS-YOLOv5, for lotus pods and stalks based on the latest YOLOv5 v7.0 instance segmentation model was proposed. The CBAM attention mechanism was integrated into the network to improve the model’s feature extraction ability. The scale distribution of the multi-scale feature layer was adjusted, a 160 × 160 small-scale detection layer was added, and the original 20 × 20 large-scale detection layer was removed, which improved the model’s segmentation accuracy for small-scale lotus stalks and reduced the model size. On the medium-large scale test set, LPSS-YOLOv5 achieved a mask mAP0.5 of 99.3% for all classes. On the small-scale test set, the mAP0.5 for all classes and AP0.5 for stalks were 88.8% and 83.3%, which were 2.6% and 5.0% higher than the baseline, respectively. Compared with the mainstream Mask R-CNN and YOLACT models, LPSS-YOLOv5 showed a much higher segmentation accuracy, speed, and smaller size. The 2D and 3D localization tests verified that LPSS-YOLOv5 could effectively support the picking point localization and the pod–stalk affiliation confirmation.

Polymer-based waveguide amplifiers are essential components in integrated optical systems, as their gain bandwidths directly determine the operating wavelength of optical circuits. However, development of the wideband gain media has been challenging, making it difficult to fabricate devices with broadband amplification capability. Rare earth ion-doped nanoparticles (NPs) are a key component in the gain media, and their full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the emission peak decides the final gain bandwidth of the gain media. Here, KMnF3: Yb, Er, Ce@KMnF3: Yb NPs with the broad full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the emission peak covering the S+C band was prepared. The NPs were synthesized using a hydrothermal method, and the FWHM of the emission peak of NPs reached 76 nm under the excitation of a 980 nm laser. The introduction of Ce3+ ions and a core-shell structure coating greatly enhanced the emission intensity of NPs at C band. Since KMnF3: Yb, Er, Ce@KMnF3: Yb NPs have exceptional broadband luminescence properties at C band, KMnF3: Yb, Er, Ce@KMnF3: Yb NPs can be the potential gain medium in the future polymer-based waveguide amplifiers.

The content of plant endogenous hormones could be influenced by fertilization, which play an important regulatory role in plant growth and yield formation. However, the effects of phosphate (P) application rates on the dynamical changes in the exogenous hormone content in maize plants to support high-yield production are still unclear. An experiment with six P application rates was designed (P1, 0 kg ha−1; P2, 20 kg ha−1; P3, 40 kg ha−1; P4, 60 kg ha−1; P5, 80 kg ha−1; and P6, 100 kg ha−1), aimed at determining the distribution or biosynthesis of phytohormones in maize roots and leaves, and clarifying the role of P fertilization in the formation of phytohormones. The results showed that P fertilization significantly increased the content of IAA, by 51.57%, and significantly decreased the contents of ABA and GA3, by 18.92% and 19.13% on average compared to P1. The highest increase in IAA was 99.02%, and the highest decreases in ABA and GA3 were 32.30% and 26.85%, respectively, in the P6 treatment in maize roots. Meanwhile, an increase in the IAA (41.34%), SA (27.58%), and GA3 (37.36%) contents and a decrease in the ABA (19.18%) content in maize leaves were observed. The highest increases in IAA, GA3, and SA in the P6 treatment in maize leaves were 57.5%, 62.50%, and 48.57%, respectively, and the highest decrease in ABA was 28.05%. Meanwhile, different contents of endogenous hormones in maize roots and leaves were observed at various maize growth stages. The maize phenotypes and soil available P content were increased with P application as well. A Pearson’s correlation analysis showed that endogenous hormones were significantly correlated with maize phenotypes and yield. Our results confirmed that P fertilization could change the content of endogenous hormones in maize roots and leaves; P6 was the best treatment for improving the endogenous hormone contents in maize plants, P3 was the best for improving the maize grain yield. Overall, 40 kg ha−1 is recommended as the best P application rate under the experimental conditions, considering the economic cost and environmental effects.

The Xiongcun Cu–Au ore district is in the southern middle Gangdese Metallogenic Belt, Tibet, and formed during Neo-Tethyan oceanic subduction. The Xiongcun ore district mainly comprises two deposits, the No. I and No. II deposits, which were formed by two individual mineralization events according to deposit geology and Re–Os isotopic dating of molybdenite. The No. I deposit is similar to a reduced porphyry copper–gold deposit, given the widespread occurrence of primary and/or hydrothermal pyrrhotite and common CH4-rich and rare N2-rich fluid inclusions. The No. II deposit, similar to classic oxidized porphyry copper–gold deposits, contains highly oxidized minerals, including magnetite, anhydrite, and hematite. The halogen chemistry of the ore-forming fluid from the No. I and No. II deposits is still unclear. Biotite geochemistry with halogen contents was used to investigate the differences in ore-forming fluid between the No. I and No. II deposits. Hydrothermal biotite from the No. I deposit, usually intergrown with sphalerite, is Mg-rich and classified as phlogopite and Mg-biotite, and hydrothermal biotite from the No. II deposit is classified as Mg-biotite. Hydrothermal biotite from the No. I deposit has significantly higher SiO2, MnO, MgO, F, Li, Sc, Zn, Rb, Tl, and Pb contents and lower Al2O3, FeOtot, Cl, Ba, Cr, V, Co, Ni, Y, Sr, Zr, Th, and Cu contents than the biotite from the No. II deposit. Hydrothermal biotites from the No. I and No. II deposits yield temperatures ranging from 230 °C to 593 °C and 212 °C to 306 °C, respectively. The calculated oxygen fugacity and fugacity ratios indicate that the hydrothermal fluid of the No. I deposit has a higher F content, oxygen fugacity, and log(fHF/fHCl) value and a lower log(fH2O/fHF) value than the hydrothermal fluid from the No. II deposit. The biotite geochemistry shows that the No. I and No. II deposits formed from different hydrothermal fluids. The hydrothermal fluid of the No. I deposit was mixed with meteoric waters containing organic matter, resulting in a decrease in oxygen fugacity and more efficient precipitation of gold. The No. I and No. II deposits were formed by a Cl-rich hydrothermal system conducive to transporting Cu and Au. The decreasing Cl, oxygen fugacity, and temperature may be the key factors in Cu and Au precipitation. Biotite geochemistry allows a more detailed evaluation of the halogen chemistry of hydrothermal fluids and their evolution within porphyry Cu systems.

In this study, pure copper’s hot deformation behavior was studied through isothermal compression tests at deformation temperatures of 350~750 °C with strain rates of 0.01~5 s−1 on a Gleeble-3500 isothermal simulator. Metallographic observation and microhardness measurement were carried out of the hot compressed specimens. By analyzing the true stress–strain curves of pure copper under various deformation conditions during the hot deformation process, the constitutive equation was established based on the strain-compensated Arrhenius model. On the basis of the dynamic material model proposed by Prasad, the hot-processing maps were acquired under different strains. Meanwhile, the effect of deformation temperature and strain rate on the microstructure characteristics was studied by observing the hot-compressed microstructure. The results demonstrate that the flow stress of pure copper has positive strain rate sensitivity and negative temperature correlation. The average hardness value of pure copper has no obvious change trend with the strain rate. The flow stress can be predicted with excellent accuracy via the Arrhenius model based on strain compensation. The suitable deforming process parameters for pure copper were determined to be at a deformation temperature range of 700~750 °C and strain rate range of 0.1~1 s−1.

A series of 1,4-naphthoquinone derivatives containing were synthesized as anti-cancer agents and the crystal structure of compound 5a was confirmed by X-ray diffraction. In addition, the inhibitory activities against four cancer cell lines (HepG2, A549, K562, and PC-3) were tested, respectively, and compound 5i showed significant cytotoxicity on the A549 cell line with the IC50 of 6.15 μM. Surprisingly, in the following preliminary biological experiments, we found that compound 5i induced autophagy by promoting the recycling of EGFR and signal transduction in the A549 cell, resulting in the activation of the EGFR signal pathway. The potential binding pattern between compound 5i and EGFR tyrosine kinase (PDB ID: 1M17) was also identified by molecular docking. Our research paves the way for further studies and the development of novel and powerful anti-cancer drugs.

The solubility of uranium (U) in hydrothermal fluid is thought to be controlled by oxidation. In general, uranium is mainly transported as U(VI) in oxidized fluid, but precipitated as U(IV) in reduced fluid. However, many geological observations indicate that metamorphic fluids, which are buffered by metamorphic rocks with oxidized protoliths such as oxidized pelite or altered marine basalt, are not enriched in U. To explore the reason of the low solubility of U in metamorphic fluids, we simulated the hydrous speciation and solubility of U in fluids that are in equilibrium with rocks. The simulations were conducted at pressure–temperature (P-T) conditions of greenschist and amphibolite facies metamorphism. The results show that U is mainly dissolved as U(IV), instead of U(VI), in metamorphic fluids. The solubility of U remains at a low level of ~10−12 molal, and is not significantly influenced by metamorphic temperature, pressure, and fluid salinity. This result is consistent with geological observations and, thus, can explain the low-U nature of natural metamorphic fluids. The detection of leaks in water distribution systems (WDS) has always been a major concern for urban water supply companies. However, the performance of traditional leak detection classifiers highly depends on the effectiveness of handcrafted features. An alternative method is to use a convolutional neural network (CNN) to process raw signals directly to obtain deep representations that may ignore prior information about the leakage. The study proposes a novel approach to leak detection in WDS using ground acoustic signals, and demonstrates the effectiveness of combining handcrafted features and deep representations using a pseudo-siamese convolutional neural network (PCNN) model. Mel frequency cepstral coefficient (MFCCs) are selected as additional handcrafted features to traditional time- and frequency-domain (TFD) features. Based on the results of the model performance evaluation, the optimized PCNN model performs better than other methods, with an accuracy of 99.70%. A quantitative analysis of the PCNN demonstrates the effectiveness of handcrafted features and deep representations. Model visualization and interpretation analysis show that feature fusion occurs in the feedforward of the PCNN, hence improving the model’s performance. The present work can effectively support the development of novel intelligent leak detection equipment for WDS.

The electronic devices suffer great vibration and temperature fluctuation in an airborne environment, which has been always a big challenge for reliability design. In this paper, the reliability of the complex electronic components for airborne applications under a thermal cycling test, random vibration and combined loading has been investigated by experiment tests and finite element simulation. The fatigue life and failure location under different loadings have been compared and discussed, respectively. The results indicated that the combined fatigue life was much shorter than a single-factor experiment. The failed solder joints mostly appeared at the interface between the solder and the copper pad on the component side and the location was at the corner for all three harsh environment tests. Nevertheless, several differences could be observed. For temperature cycling, all the specimens failed due to the increase in daisy chain resistance rather than the open circuit for the combined loading test. That is because the degeneration of the solder caused by temperature variation led to lower stress levels and fatigue life. Moreover, the pins fractured at the welding regions have been observed. The modified Coffin—Manson model, Miner’s linear fatigue damage criterion and Steinberg’s model and rapid life-prediction approach were used to predict the fatigue life under temperature cycling, random vibration and combined loading, respectively. With these methods, the accurate numerical models could be developed and validated by experiment results. Thanks to the simulation, the design time could be effectively shortened and the weak point could be determined.

With the increasing number of inputs and outputs, and the decreasing interconnection spacing, electrical interconnection failures caused by electromigration (EM) have attracted more and more attention. The electromigration reliability and failure mechanism of complex components were studied in this paper. The failure mechanism and reliability of complex components during the electromigration process were studied through the simulation and the experiment, which can overcome the limitation of experimental measurement at a micro-scale. The simulation results indicated that the solder joint has obvious current crowding at the current inlet, which will significantly enhance the electromigration effect. Based on the atomic flux divergence method, the void formation of solder joints can be effectively predicted, and life prediction can be more accurate than Black’s equation. Experimental results indicated that the resistance of the daisy chain could be significantly increased with the process of void formation in the solder and corrosion of the leads. Moreover, the growth of intermetallic compounds can be obviously promoted under current stress. The main composition of the intermetallic compounds changes from almost entirely Cu5Sn6 to Cu5Sn6 and Cu3Sn; the cracks can be detected at the Cu3Sn layer. Specifically, the mean time to failure is 1065 h under 1.4 A current and 125 °C based on IPC-9701A guidelines.

The biosynthesis of polyene macrolides, which are natural products produced by soil actinomycetes, have been extensively explored, and recent studies have focused on the effects of post–polyketide synthase (PKS) modifications to polyene macrolides on toxicity, water solubility, and antifungal activity. For example, there are interactions between glycosyl, carboxyl, and hydroxyl or epoxy groups generated in the post-PKS modification steps; salt bridges will be formed between carboxylate and ammonium on the mycosamine; and water bridges will be formed between hydroxy and hydroxyl on mycosamine. These interactions will affect their water solubility and substrate-recognition specificity. This review summarizes research related to these post-PKS modification groups and discusses some genetic engineering operation problems and solutions that may be encountered when modifying these post-PKS modification groups. In addition, this review provides a basis for the structural research of polyene macrolide antibiotics and contributes to comprehensive and systematic knowledge, and it may thus encourage researchers to develop novel antifungal drugs with higher therapeutic indexes and medical values.

With the development of sequencing technology and further scientific research, an increasing number of biosynthetic gene clusters associated with secondary Streptomyces metabolites have been identified and characterized. The encoded genes of a family of regulators designated as PAS-LuxR are gradually being discovered in some biosynthetic gene clusters of polyene macrolide, aminoglycoside, and amino acid analogues. PAS-LuxR family regulators affect secondary Streptomyces metabolites by interacting with other family regulators to regulate the transcription of the target genes in the gene cluster. This paper provides a review of the structure, function, regulatory mechanism, and application of these regulators to provide more information on the regulation of secondary metabolite biosynthesis in Streptomyces, and promote the application of PAS-LuxR family regulators in industrial breeding and other directions.

Cardiac function is closely related to heart metabolism. Heart failure patients undergoing LVAD support have shown varying degrees of remodeling of both cardiac function and morphology. However, the metabolic changes in patients with different outcomes are unclear. This study aimed to identify metabolic differences and evaluate metabolomics-based biomarkers in patients with non-improved/improved cardiac function after LVAD support. Sixteen patients were enrolled in this study. Plasma samples were analyzed by using untargeted metabolomic approaches. Multivariate statistical analysis and a Mann–Whitney U-test was performed to clarify the separation in metabolites and to identify changes in plasma metabolites between the two groups, respectively. The efficacy of candidate biomarkers was tested by the area under the curve receiver operating characteristic curve. Using the Metabolomics Standards Initiative level 2, a total of 1542 and 619 metabolites were detected in the positive and negative ion modes, respectively. Enrichment analysis showed that metabolites in improved cardiac function patients were mainly involved in carbohydrate metabolism and amino acid metabolism. Metabolites from non-improved cardiac function patients were mainly involved in hormone metabolism. Furthermore, we found tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane and 5-guanidino-3-methyl-2-oxopentanoic acid could serve as biomarkers to predict whether a patient’s cardiac function would improve after LVAD support.

With the rapid development of 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), and high-performance computing (HPC), there is a huge increase in the data exchanged between the processor and memory. However, the “storage wall” caused by the von Neumann architecture severely limits the computational performance of the system. To efficiently process such large amounts of data and break up the “storage wall”, it is necessary to develop processing-in-memory (PIM) technology. Chiplet combines processor cores and memory chips with advanced packaging technologies, such as 2.5D, 3 dimensions (3D), and fan-out packaging. This improves the quality and bandwidth of signal transmission and alleviates the “storage wall” problem. This paper reviews the Chiplet packaging technology that has achieved the function of PIM in recent years and analyzes some of its application results. First, the research status and development direction of PIM are presented and summarized. Second, the Chiplet packaging technologies that can realize the function of PIM are introduced, which are divided into 2.5D, 3D packaging, and fan-out packaging according to their physical form. Further, the form and characteristics of their implementation of PIM are summarized. Finally, this paper is concluded, and the future development of Chiplet in the field of PIM is discussed.

The protozoan pathogen Cryptosporidium parvum infects intestinal epithelial cells and causes diarrhea in humans and young animals. Among the more than 20 genes encoding insulinase-like metalloproteinases (INS), two are paralogs with high sequence identity. In this study, one of them, INS-16 encoded by the cgd3_4270 gene, was expressed and characterized in a comparative study of its sibling, INS-15 encoded by the cgd3_4260 gene. A full-length INS-16 protein and its active domain I were expressed in Escherichia coli, and antibodies against the domain I and an INS-16-specific peptide were produced in rabbits. In the analysis of the crude extract of oocysts, a ~60 kDa fragment of INS-16 rather than the full protein was recognized by polyclonal antibodies against the specific peptide, indicating that INS-16 undergoes proteolytic cleavage before maturation. The expression of the ins-16 gene peaked at the invasion phase of in vitro C. parvum culture, with the documented expression of the protein in both sporozoites and merozoites. Localization studies with antibodies showed significant differences in the distribution of the native INS-15 and INS-16 proteins in sporozoites and merozoites. INS-16 was identified as a dense granule protein in sporozoites and macrogamonts but was mostly expressed at the apical end of merozoites. We screened 48 candidate INS-16 inhibitors from the molecular docking of INS-16. Among them, two inhibited the growth of C. parvum in vitro (EC50 = 1.058 µM and 2.089 µM). The results of this study suggest that INS-16 may have important roles in the development of C. parvum and could be a valid target for the development of effective treatments.

Migraine is a neurological disorder characterized by severe headaches, visual aversions, auditory, and olfactory disorders, accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Zolmitriptan (ZMT®) is a potent 5HT1B/1D serotonin receptor agonist frequently used for the treatment of migraine. It has erratic absorption from the gastrointestinal tract (GIT), but its oral bioavailability is low (40–45%) due to the hepatic metabolism. This makes it an ideal candidate for oral fast dissolving formulations. Hence, the current study was undertaken to design and develop oral fast-dissolving films (OFDFs) containing ZMT for migraine treatment. The OFDFs were formulated by the solvent casting method (SCM) using Pullulan (PU) and maltodextrin (MDX) as film-forming agents and propylene glycol (PG) as a plasticizer. The strategy was designed using Box–Behnken experimental design considering the proportion of PU:MDX and percentage of PG as independent variables. The effectiveness of the OFDF’s was measured based on the following responses: drug release at five min, disintegration time (D-time), and tensile strength (TS). The influence of formulation factors, including percent elongation (%E), thickness, water content, moisture absorption, and folding endurance on ZMT-OFDFs, were also studied. The results showed a successful fabrication of stable ZMT-OFDFs, with surface uniformity and amorphous shape of ZMT in fabricated films. The optimized formulation showed a remarkable rapid dissolution, over 90% within the first 5 min, a fast D-time of 18 s, and excellent mechanical characteristics. Improved maximum plasma concentration (C max) and area under the curve (AUC 0–t) in animals (rats) treated with ZMT-OFDFs compared to those treated with an intra-gastric (i-g) suspension of ZMT were also observed. Copolymer OFDFs with ZMT is an exciting proposition with great potential for the treatment of migraine headache. This study offers a promising strategy for developing ZMT-OFDFs using SCM. ZMT-OFDFs showed remarkable rapid dissolution and fast D-time, which might endeavor ZMT-OFDFs as an auspicious alternative approach to improve patient compliance and shorten the onset time of ZMT in migraine treatment.

As a common abiotic stress, drought severely impairs the growth, development, and even survival of plants. Here we report a transcription factor, Caragana korshinskii REVOLUTA(CkREV), which can bidirectionally regulate the expression of the critical enzyme gene CkYUC5 in auxin synthesis according to external environment changes, so as to control the biosynthesis of auxin and further enhance the drought resistance of plants. Quantitative analysis reveals that the expression level of both CkYUC5 and AtYUC5 is down-regulated after C. korshinskii and Arabidopsis thaliana are exposed to drought. Functional verification of CkREV reveals that CkREV up-regulates the expression of AtYUC5 in transgenic A. thaliana under common conditions, while down-regulating it under drought conditions. Meanwhile, the expression of CkYUC5 is also down-regulated in C. korshinskii leaves instantaneously overexpressing CkREV. We apply a dual-luciferase reporter system to discover that CkREV can bind to the promoter of CkYUC5 to regulate its expression, which is further proved by EMSA and Y1H esxperiments. Functional verification of CkREV in C. korshinskii and transgenic A. thaliana shows that CkREV can regulate the expression of CkYUC5 and AtYUC5 in a contrary way, maintaining the equilibrium of plants between growth and drought resisting. CkREV can positively regulate the expression of CkYUC5 to promote auxin synthesis in favor of growth under normal development. However, CkREV can also respond to external signals and negatively regulate the expression of CkYUC5, which inhibits auxin synthesis in order to reduce growth rate, lower water demands, and eventually improve the drought resistance of plants.

Ag/Y2O3 has excellent potential to replace Ag/CdO as the environmentally friendly electrical contact material. Using spherical Y2O3 as the starting material, Ag/Y2O3 contacts with a quasi-continuous network structure were successfully fabricated by a low-energy ball milling treatment. The mean size of Y2O3 used ranged from 243 to 980 nm. Due to the differences in the size of Y2O3, Ag/Y2O3 contacts had different primitive microstructures, thereby exhibiting distinctive anti-arc-erosion capabilities. Ag/Y2O3 contact prepared using 243 nm Y2O3 showed the best anti-arc-erosion capability and the most outstanding electrical performance measures, such as low contact resistance, less mass transfer, and no failure up to 105 cycle times. The quasi-continuous network structure formed in the micro-scale was responsible for the excellent electrical performance. The short distance between Y2O3 particles in the network promoted the cathode arc motion, and thus alleviated the localized erosion. The results obtained herein may inspire further attempts to design electrical contacts rationally.

LuAG:Ce (Lu3Al5O12:Ce) is one of the most important color converters in white lighting industry. Especially, LuAG:Ce film attracts more attention due to the outstanding advantages, such as the efficient heat dissipation, the saving of rare earth, and so on. Here, LuAG:Ce film on sapphire was successfully prepared by the ultrasonic spray pyrolysis process. The phase, microstructure and photoluminescence of LuAG:Ce films were investigated. LuAG:Ce films had a thickness of around 5 μm, which were well crystallized at 1000 °C in air atmosphere to form the typical garnet structure. Under the protection of CO atmosphere, increasing the annealing temperature greatly enhanced the photoluminescence performance. After annealing at 1500 °C for 5 h in CO atmosphere, 3.0 mol.% Ce3+ doped LuAG:Ce film exhibited the highest emission and excitation intensity. The emission intensity of 3.0 mol.% Ce3+ doped LuAG:Ce film annealed at 1500 °C in CO atmosphere increased up to five times, when compared with the best LuAG:Ce film annealed at 1000 °C in air atmosphere. The effects of Ce3+ doping concentration on the photoluminescence were also examined. As the Ce3+ doping concentration increased from 0.2 mol.% to 7.0 mol.%, the color of LuAG:Ce films changed from yellowish green to greenish yellow. When coupling the 3.0 mol.% Ce3+ doped LuAG:Ce film with a 0.5 W 450 nm blue laser, the formed device successfully emitted white light.

Models based on capsule neural network (CapsNet), a novel deep learning method, have recently made great achievements in hyperspectral remote sensing image (HSI) classification due to their excellent ability to implicitly model the spatial relationship knowledge embedded in HSIs. However, the number of labeled samples is a common bottleneck in HSI classification, limiting the performance of these deep learning models. To alleviate the problem of limited labeled samples and further explore the potential of CapsNet in the HSI classification field, this study proposes a multiscale feature aggregation capsule neural network (MS-CapsNet) based on CapsNet via the implementation of two branches that simultaneously extract spectral, local spatial, and global spatial features to integrate multiscale features and improve model robustness. Furthermore, because deep features are generally more discriminative than shallow features, two kinds of capsule residual (CapsRES) blocks based on 3D convolutional capsule (3D-ConvCaps) layers and residual connections are proposed to increase the depth of the network and solve the limited labeled sample problem in HSI classification. Moreover, a squeeze-and-excitation (SE) block is introduced in the shallow layers of MS-CapsNet to enhance its feature extraction ability. In addition, a reasonable initialization strategy that transfers parameters from two well-designed, pretrained deep convolutional capsule networks is introduced to help the model find a good set of initializing weight parameters and further improve the HSI classification accuracy of MS-CapsNet. Experimental results on four widely used HSI datasets demonstrate that the proposed method can provide results comparable to those of state-of-the-art methods.

In hyperspectral imaging (HSI), stripe noise is one of the most common noise types that adversely affects its application. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have contributed to state-of-the-art performance in HSI destriping given their powerful feature extraction and learning capabilities. However, it is difficult to obtain paired training samples for real data. Most CNN destriping methods construct a paired training dataset with simulated stripe noise for network training. However, when the stripe noise of real data is complex, destriping performance of the model is constrained. To solve this problem, this study proposes a real HSI stripe removal method using a toward real HSI stripe removal via direction constraint hierarchical feature cascade network (TRS-DCHC). TRS-DCHC uses the stripe noise extract subnetwork to extract stripe patterns from real stripe-containing HSI data and incorporates clean images to form paired training samples. The destriping subnetwork advantageously utilizes a wavelet transform to explicitly decompose stripe and stripe-free components. It also adopts multi-scale feature dense connections and feature fusion to enrich feature information and deeply mine the discriminate features of stripe and stripe-free components. Our experiments on both simulated and real data of various loads showed that TRS-DCHC features better performance in both simulated and real data compared with state-of-the-art method.

At present, there is no clear design standard for segmental joints of large-diameter shield tunnels under high water pressure. In this paper, a theoretical calculation model for the bending stiffness of segmental joints under high water pressure is proposed. The numerical simulation method is used to investigate the failure and crack formation processes of single-layer and double-layer lining segments under large axial forces. The effects of axial force, bolt strength, and concrete strength on the bending stiffness of joints are then studied using a theoretical calculation model of segmental joints. The results show that under extremely high water pressure, the influence of double lining on joint stiffness is limited. It is more rational and safe to compute the bending stiffness of segmental joints using this theoretical model rather than the numerical simulation method. The parameter analysis reveals that increasing the bolt strength has a minor impact on bending stiffness and deformation, whereas increasing the concrete strength has the opposite effect. The influence of ultimate bearing capacity and deformation decreases non-linearly as the axial force increases.

A Fenton reaction and a corrosion inhibition strategy were designed for enhancing the polishing rate and achieving a corrosion-free Ge1Sb4Te5 film surface during chemical-mechanical planarization (CMP) of three-dimensional (3D) cross-point phase-change random-access memory (PCRAM) cells and 3D cross-point synaptic arrays. The Fenton reaction was conducted with 1,3-propylenediamine tetraacetic acid, ferric ammonium salt (PDTA–Fe) and H2O2. The chemical oxidation degree of GeO2, Sb2O3, and TeO2 evidently increased with the PDTA–Fe concentration in the CMP slurry, such that the polishing rate of the Ge1Sb4Te5 film surface linearly increased with the PDTA–Fe concentration. The addition of a corrosion inhibitor having protonated amine functional groups in the CMP slurry remarkably suppressed the corrosion degree of the Ge1Sb4Te5 film surface after CMP; i.e., the corrosion current of the Ge1Sb4Te5 film surface linearly decreased as the corrosion inhibitor concentration increased. Thus, the proposed Fenton reaction and corrosion inhibitor in the Ge1Sb4Te5 film surface CMP slurry could achieve an almost recess-free Ge1Sb4Te5 film surface of the confined-PCRAM cells, having an aspect ratio of 60-nm-height to 4-nm-diameter after CMP.

As an important and fundamental step in 3D reconstruction, point cloud registration aims to find rigid transformations that register two point sets. The major challenge in point cloud registration techniques is finding correct correspondences in the scenes that may contain many repetitive structures and noise. This paper is primarily concerned with improving registration using a priori semantic information in the search for correspondences. In particular, we present a new point cloud registration pipeline for large, outdoor scenes that takes advantage of semantic segmentation. Our method consisted of extracting semantic segments from point clouds using an efficient deep neural network, then detecting the key points of the point cloud and using a feature descriptor to get the initial correspondence set, and, finally, applying a Random Sample Consensus (RANSAC) strategy to estimate the transformations that align segments with the same labels. Instead of using all points to estimate a global alignment, our method aligned two point clouds using transformations calculated by each segment with the highest inlier ratio. We evaluated our method on the publicly available Whu-TLS registration data set. These experiments demonstrate how a priori semantic information improves registration in terms of precision and speed.

In order to develop a new ceramic tool material with self-repairing capability, Al2O3/TiC/TiB2 ceramic tool material was prepared by vacuum hot-pressure sintering method. The toughening and strengthening mechanism of TiB2 on Al2O3/TiC substrate was analyzed. The results show that the ceramic tool material has good comprehensive mechanical properties when the TiB2 content is 10 vol.%. Its flexural strength was 701.32 MPa, hardness was 18.3 GPa, and fracture toughness was 6.2 MPa·m1/2, which were improved by 11.6%, 2.2% and 16.1% respectively, compared with the Al2O3/TiC tool material. Fracture surfaces of the Al2O3/TiC/TiB2 ceramic tool material were characterized by SEM, EDS and XRD. The results showed that the fracture mode was a mixture of transgranular fracture and intergranular fracture. The growth of Al2O3 and TiC grains can be effectively inhibited by adding appropriate amount of TiB2, and the internal grains of the material can be refined. The TiB2 has a uniform distribution in the matrix and acts as a diffusion toughening agent. The cutting performance of Al2O3/TiC/10 vol.%TiB2 tool material was further investigated. Experiments conducted on tools made of Al2O3/TiC and Al2O3/TiC/TiB2 materials showed that the main forms of wear for both tools were abrasive wear and bonded wear. The friction coefficient of Al2O3/TiC/TiB2 tools was reduced by 10.77% compared to Al2O3/TiC tools.

Novel nanoparticles (NPs) were constructed with lysozyme (LY) and pectin (Ps) through self-assembly, which were used as a carrier to encapsulate epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG). The binding of EGCG and LY is a static quenching process. Hydrogen bonds might play a major role in the formation of NPs, which has also been verified by a lower binding constant of EGCG with LY/Ps NPs. Meanwhile, EGCG could lead to conformational and microenvironmental changes of LY, resulting in more folding of LY secondary structures. In addition, attaching Ps to LY might inhibit LY aggregation induced by addition of free EGCG. At the LY/Ps mass ratio of 1:1, the constructed LY/Ps NPs had a high EGCG-loading capacity without a significant change in mean particle size, thus, our NPs could be used as an effective nanocarrier for loading EGCG. In vivo, compared with free EGCG, EGCG loaded onto LY/Ps NPs significantly increased Caenorhabditis elegans’ (C. elegans) resistance to heat stress and oxidative injury and prolonged their lifespan. This study provides theoretical basis and reference for constructing nanoactive substance carriers so as to improve the resistance of organisms to heat stress and oxidative damage and to increase their survival rate and extend their lifespan under environment stresses.

This study aimed to investigate the role of micellization of sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) in poloxamer 407 (POX)-based solid dispersions (POX-based SDs) using the anti-solvent method in enhancing the dissolution rate of practically water-insoluble cilostazol (CLT). Herein, SLS was incorporated into CLT-loaded SDs, at a weight ratio of 50:50:10 of CLT, POX, and SLS by three different methods: anti-solvent, fusion (60 °C), and solvent (ethanol) evaporation. The SDs containing micellar SLS in the anti-solvent method were superior in the transformation of the crystalline form of the drug into a partial amorphous state. It was notable that there was an existence of a hydrophobic interaction between the surfactant and the hydrophobic regions of polymer chain via non-covalent bonding and the adsorption of micellar SLS to the POX-based SDs matrix. Moreover, SLS micellization via the anti-solvent method was effectively interleaved in SDs and adhered by the dissolved CLT, which precluded drug particles from aggregation and recrystallization, resulting in improved SD wettability (lower contact angle) and reduced particle size and dissolution rate. In contrast, SDs without micellar SLS prepared by the solvent method exerted drug recrystallization and an increase of particle size, resulting in decreased dissolution. Incorporation of surfactant below or above critical micellar concentration (CMC) in SDs using the anti-solvent method should be considered in advance. Dissolution results showed that the pre-added incorporation of micellar SLS into POX-based SDs using the anti-solvent method could provide a way of a solubilization mechanism to enhance the dissolution rate of poorly water-soluble drugs.

A subduction zone plays a critical role in forging continental crust via formation of arc magmas, which are characteristically enriched in large ion lithophile elements (LILEs) and depleted in high field strength elements (HFSEs). This trace element pattern results from the different mobilities of LILEs and HFSEs during slab-to-wedge mass transfer, but the mechanisms of trace element transfer from subducting crusts are not fully understood. In this study, thermodynamic simulations are carried out to evaluate the mobilities of K and Zr, as representative cases of LILE and HFSE, respectively, in slab fluids. The fluids buffered by basaltic eclogite can dissolve > 0.1 molal of K at sub-arc depths (~3 to 5.5 GPa). However, only minor amounts of K can be liberated by direct devolatilization of altered oceanic basalt, because sub-arc dehydration mainly takes place at temperatures < 600 °C (talc-out), wherein the fluid solubility of K is very limited (+ can unlock phengite-bonded K via a complex ion exchange. Finally, it is further confirmed that Zr and other HFSEs are immobile in slab fluids.

This study aims to evaluate the bioactive components, in vitro bioactivities, and in vivo hypoglycemic effect of P. frutescens leaf, which is a traditional medicine-food homology plant. P. frutescens methanol crude extract and its fractions (petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate, n-butanol fractions, and aqueous phase residue) were prepared by ultrasound-enzyme assisted extraction and liquid–liquid extraction. Among the samples, the ethyl acetate fraction possessed the high total phenolic (440.48 μg GAE/mg DE) and flavonoid content (455.22 μg RE/mg DE), the best antioxidant activity (the DPPH radical, ABTS radical, and superoxide anion scavenging activity, and ferric reducing antioxidant power were 1.71, 1.14, 2.40, 1.29, and 2.4 times higher than that of control Vc, respectively), the most powerful α-glucosidase inhibitory ability with the IC50 value of 190.03 μg/mL which was 2.2-folds higher than control acarbose, the strongest proliferative inhibitory ability against MCF-7 and HepG2 cell with the IC50 values of 37.92 and 13.43 μg/mL, which were considerable with control cisplatin, as well as certain inhibition abilities on acetylcholinesterase and tyrosinase. HPLC analysis showed that the luteolin, rosmarinic acid, rutin, and catechin were the dominant components of the ethyl acetate fraction. Animal experiments further demonstrated that the ethyl acetate fraction could significantly decrease the serum glucose level, food, and water intake of streptozotocin-induced diabetic SD rats, increase the body weight, modulate their serum levels of TC, TG, HDL-C, and LDL-C, improve the histopathology and glycogen accumulation in liver and intestinal tissue. Taken together, P. frutescens leaf exhibits excellent hypoglycemic activity in vitro and in vivo, and could be exploited as a source of natural antidiabetic agent.

Cracks are one of the main distresses that occur on concrete surfaces. Traditional methods for detecting cracks based on two-dimensional (2D) images can be hampered by stains, shadows, and other artifacts, while various three-dimensional (3D) crack-detection techniques, using point clouds, are less affected in this regard but are limited by the measurement accuracy of the 3D laser scanner. In this study, we propose an automatic crack-detection method that fuses 3D point clouds and 2D images based on an improved Otsu algorithm, which consists of the following four major procedures. First, a high-precision registration of a depth image projected from 3D point clouds and 2D images is performed. Second, pixel-level image fusion is performed, which fuses the depth and gray information. Third, a rough crack image is obtained from the fusion image using the improved Otsu method. Finally, the connected domain labeling and morphological methods are used to finely extract the cracks. Experimentally, the proposed method was tested at multiple scales and with various types of concrete crack. The results demonstrate that the proposed method can achieve an average precision of 89.0%, recall of 84.8%, and F1 score of 86.7%, performing significantly better than the single image (average F1 score of 67.6%) and single point cloud (average F1 score of 76.0%) methods. Accordingly, the proposed method has high detection accuracy and universality, indicating its wide potential application as an automatic method for concrete-crack detection.

A unique method to design a high-throughput and high-resolution ultrathin Czerny–Turner (UTCT) spectrometer is proposed. This paper reveals an infrequent design process of spectrometers based on Coddington’s equations, which will lead us to develop a high-performance spectrometer from scratch. The spectrometer is composed of cylindrical elements except a planar grating. In the simulation design, spot radius is sub-pixel size, which means that almost all of the energy is collected by the detector. The spectral resolution is 0.4 nm at central wavelength and 0.75 nm at edge wavelength when the width of slit is chosen to be 25 μm and the groove density is 900 lines/mm.

In the application of quantitative remote sensing in water quality monitoring, the existence of mixed pixels greatly affects the accuracy of water quality parameter inversion, especially for narrow inland rivers. Improving the image spatial resolution and weakening the interference of mixed pixels in the image are some of the urgent problems to be solved in the study of water quality monitoring of medium- and small-sized inland rivers. We processed Sentinel-2 multispectral images using the super-resolution algorithm and generated a set of 10 m spatial resolution images with basically unchanged reflection characteristics. Both qualitative and quantitative evaluation results show that the super-resolution algorithm can weaken the influence of mixed pixels while maintaining spectral invariance. Before the application of the super-resolution algorithm, the inversion accuracy of water quality parameters in this study were as follows: for NH3-N, the R2 was 0.61, the root mean squared error (RMSE) was 0.177 and the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) was 29.33%; for Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), the R2 was 0.26, the RMSE was 0.756 and the MAPE was 4.62%; for Total Phosphorus (TP), the R2 was 0.69, the RMSE was 0.032 and the MAPE was 30.58%. After the application of the super-resolution algorithm, the inversion accuracy of water quality parameters in this study were as follows: for NH3-N, the R2 was 0.67, the RMSE was 0.161 and the MAPE was 25.88%; for COD, the R2 was 0.53, the RMSE was 0.546 and the MAPE was 3.36%; for TP, the R2 was 0.60, the RMSE was 0.034 and the MAPE was 24.28%. Finally, the spatial distribution of NH3-N, COD and TP was obtained by using a machine learning model. The results showed that the application of the super-resolution algorithm can effectively improve the retrieval accuracy of NH3-N, COD and TP, which illustrates the application potential of the super-resolution algorithm in water quality remote sensing quantitative monitoring.

This paper demonstrates the recovery of valuable metals from shredded Waste Printed Circuit Boards (WPCBs) by bromine leaching. Effects of sodium bromide concentration, bromine concentration, leaching time and inorganic acids were investigated. The most critical factors are sodium concentration and bromine concentration. It was found that more than 95% of copper, silver, lead, gold and nickel could be dissolved simultaneously under the optimal conditions: 50 g/L solid/liquid ratio, 1.17 M NaBr, 0.77 M Br2, 2 M HCl, 400 RPM agitation speed and 23.5 °C for 10 hours. The study shows that the dissolution of gold from waste printed circuit boards in a Br2-NaBr system is controlled by film diffusion and chemical reaction.

Accuracy verification of airborne large-footprint lidar data is important for proper data application but is difficult when ground-based laser detectors are not available. Therefore, we developed a novel method for lidar accuracy verification based on the broadened echo pulse caused by signal saturation over water. When an aircraft trajectory crosses both water and land, this phenomenon and the change in elevation between land and water surfaces can be used to verify the plane and elevation accuracy of the airborne large-footprint lidar data in conjunction with a digital surface model (DSM). Due to the problem of echo pulse broadening, the center-of-gravity (COG) method was proposed to optimize the processing flow. We conducted a series of experiments on terrain features (i.e., the intersection between water and land) in Xiangxi, Hunan Province, China. Verification results show that the elevation accuracy obtained in our experiments was better than 1 m and the plane accuracy was better than 5 m, which is well within the design requirements. Although this method requires specific terrain conditions for optimum applicability, the results can lead to valuable improvements in the flexibility and quality of lidar data collection.

Background: Ginsenosides, triterpene saponins of Panax species, are considered the main active ingredients responsible for various pharmacological activities. Herein, a new protopanaxatriol-type ginsenoside called “ginsenoside MT1” is described; it was accidentally found among the enzymatic conversion products of ginsenoside Re. Method: We analyzed the conversion mechanism and found that recombinant β-glucosidase (MT619) transglycosylated the outer rhamnopyranoside of Re at the C-6 position to glucopyranoside at C-20. The production of MT1 by trans-rhamnosylation was optimized and pure MT1 was obtained through various chromatographic processes. Results: The structure of MT1 was elucidated based on spectral data: (20S)-3β,6α,12β,20-tetrahydroxydammarene-20-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→2)-β-D-glucopyranoside]. This dammarane-type triterpene saponin was confirmed as a novel compound. Conclusion: Based on the functions of ginsenosides with similar structures, we believe that this ginsenoside MT1 may have great potential in the development of nutraceutical, pharmaceutical or cosmeceutical products.

A new triterpenoid saponin, named terpengustifol A (1), and two new lignan glucosides, phengustifols A and B (2 and 3), were isolated from the flowers of Elaeagnus angustifolia. Their structures were determined by the extensive analysis of the spectroscopic data (including NMR and HRMS) and ECD calculations. Compound 1 possesses an unusual monoterpene (Z)-6-hydroxy-2,6-dimethylocta-2,7-dienoyl unit at C-21. Compounds 2 and 3 are a pair of diastereoisomers, while their aglycones are a pair of enantiomers. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibited moderate cytotoxic activities against A375 cell lines with IC50 values at 12.1 and 15.6 μM, respectively. This is firstly reported the triterpenoid saponin and lignans isolated from the Elaeagnus angustifolia flowers.
