In this paper, a single-species population model with distributed delay and Michaelis-Menten type harvesting is established. Through an appropriate transformation, the mathematical model is converted into a two-dimensional system. Applying qualitative theory of ordinary differential equations, we obtain sufficient conditions for the stability of the equilibria of this system under three cases. The equilibrium A1 of system is globally asymptotically stable when br−c&gt, 0 and η&lt, 0. Using Poincare-Bendixson theorem, we determine the existence and stability of limit cycle when br−c&gt, 0 and η&gt, 0. By computing Lyapunov number, we obtain that a supercritical Hopf bifurcation occurs when η passes through 0. High order singularity of the system, such as saddle node, degenerate critical point, unstable node, saddle point, etc, is studied by the theory of ordinary differential equations. Numerical simulations are provided to verify our main results in this paper.

Class imbalance, as a phenomenon of asymmetry, has an adverse effect on the performance of most machine learning and overlap is another important factor that affects the classification performance of machine learning algorithms. This paper deals with the two factors simultaneously, addressing the class overlap under imbalanced distribution. In this paper, a theoretical analysis is firstly conducted on the existing class overlap metrics. Then, an improved method and the corresponding metrics to evaluate the class overlap under imbalance distributions are proposed based on the theoretical analysis. A well-known collection of the imbalanced datasets is used to compare the performance of different metrics and the performance is evaluated based on the Pearson correlation coefficient and the ξ correlation coefficient. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed class overlap metrics outperform other compared metrics for the imbalanced datasets and the Pearson correlation coefficient with the AUC metric of eight algorithms can be improved by 34.7488% in average.

In this paper, we study the recently proposed fractional-order operators with general analytic kernels. The kernel of these operators is a locally uniformly convergent power series that can be chosen adequately to obtain a family of fractional operators and, in particular, the main existing fractional derivatives. Based on the conditions for the Laplace transform of these operators, in this paper, some new results are obtained—for example, relationships between Riemann–Liouville and Caputo derivatives and inverse operators. Later, employing a representation for the product of two functions, we determine a form of calculating its fractional derivative, this result is essential due to its connection to the fractional derivative of Lyapunov functions. In addition, some other new results are developed, leading to Lyapunov-like theorems and a Lyapunov direct method that serves to prove asymptotic stability in the sense of the operators with general analytic kernels. The FOB-stability concept is introduced, which generalizes the classical Mittag–Leffler stability for a wide class of systems. Some inequalities are established for operators with general analytic kernels, which generalize others in the literature. Finally, some new stability results via convex Lyapunov functions are presented, whose importance lies in avoiding the calculation of fractional derivatives for the stability analysis of dynamical systems. Some illustrative examples are given.

In the years 1917–1919 Tullio Levi-Civita published a number of papers presenting new solutions to Einstein’s equations. This work, while partially translated, remains largely inaccessible to English speaking researchers. In this paper we review these solutions, and present them in a modern readable manner. We will also compute both Cartan–Karlhede and Carminati–Mclenaghan invariants such that these solutions are invariantly characterized by two distinct methods. These methods will allow for these solutions to be totally and invariantly characterized. Because of the variety of solutions considered here, this paper will also be a useful reference for those seeking to learn to apply the Cartan–Karlhede algorithm in practice.

The aim of this paper is to study and investigate generating-type functions, which have been recently constructed by the author, with the aid of the Euler’s identity, combinatorial sums, and p-adic integrals. Using these generating functions with their functional equation, we derive various interesting combinatorial sums and identities including new families of numbers and polynomials, the Bernoulli numbers, the Euler numbers, the Stirling numbers, the Daehee numbers, the Changhee numbers, and other numbers and polynomials. Moreover, we present some revealing remarks and comments on the results of this paper.

In this paper, we study 3-dimensional compact and connected trans-Sasakian manifolds and find necessary and sufficient conditions under which these manifolds are homothetic to Sasakian manifolds. First, four results in this paper deal with finding necessary and sufficient conditions on a compact and connected trans-Sasakian manifold to be homothetic to a compact and connected Sasakian manifold, and the fifth result deals with finding necessary and sufficient condition on a connected trans-Sasakian manifold to be homothetic to a connected Sasakian manifold. Finally, we find necessary and sufficient conditions on a compact and simply connected trans-Sasakian manifold to be homothetic to a compact and simply connected Einstein Sasakian manifold.

Software reliability models (SRMs) are widely used for quantitative evaluation of software reliability by estimating model parameters from failure data observed in the testing phase. In particular, non-homogeneous Poisson process (NHPP)-based SRMs are the most popular because of their mathematical tractability. In this paper, we focus on the parameter estimation algorithm for NHPP-based SRMs and discuss the EM algorithm for generalized fault count data. The presented algorithm can be applied for failure time data, failure count data, and their mixture. The paper derives the EM-step formulas for basic 12 NHPP-based SRMs and demonstrate a numerical experiment to present the convergence property of our algorithms. The developed algorithms are suitable for an automatic tool for software reliability evaluation.

[EN] It is a natural question if a Cartesian product of objects produces an object of the same type. For example, it is well known that a countable Cartesian product of metrizable topological spaces is metrizable. Related to this question, Borsik and Dobos characterized those functions that allow obtaining a metric in the Cartesian product of metric spaces by means of the aggregation of the metrics of each factor space. This question was also studied for norms by Herburt and Moszynska. This aggregation procedure can be modified in order to construct a metric or a norm on a certain set by means of a family of metrics or norms, respectively. In this paper, we characterize the functions that allow merging an arbitrary collection of (asymmetric) norms defined over a vector space into a single norm (aggregation on sets). We see that these functions are different from those that allow the construction of a norm in a Cartesian product (aggregation on products). Moreover, we study a related topological problem that was considered in the context of metric spaces by Borsik and Dobos. Concretely, we analyze under which conditions the aggregated norm is compatible with the product topology or the supremum topology in each case., J. With the aim of applying various Helmholtz resonant cavities to achieve low-frequency sound absorption structures, a pipe structure with periodic, additional, symmetrical, multi-local resonant cavities is proposed. A thin plate with additional mass is placed in the cylindrical Helmholtz resonant cavity structure to form a symmetric resonant cavity structure and achieve multi-local resonance. The simulation results show that the periodic structure proposed in this paper can produce multiple, high acoustic transmission loss peaks and multiple lower broadband sound absorption frequency bands in the low-frequency range. In this paper, this idea is also extended to the Helmholtz resonant cavity embedded with multiple additional mass plates. The results show that the periodic arrangement of the multi-local resonant symmetric cavity inserted into multiple plates with mass can significantly increase its transmission loss and show a better performance on low-frequency sound absorption characteristics.

Segal introduce the Fourier–Wiener transform for the class of polynomial cylinder functions on Hilbert space, and Hida then develop this concept. Negrin define the extended Wiener transform with Hayker et al. In recent papers, Hayker et al. establish the existence, the composition formula, the inversion formula, and the Parseval relation for the Wiener transform. But, they do not establish homomorphism properties for the Wiener transform. In this paper, the author establishes some basic fundamental formulas for the Wiener transform via some concepts and motivations introduced by Segal and used by Hayker et al. We then state the usefulness of basic fundamental formulas as some applications.

In this paper, the normal form and central manifold theories are used to discuss the influence of two-degree-of-freedom coupled van der Pol oscillators with time delay feedback. Compared with the single-degree-of-freedom time delay van der Pol oscillator, the system studied in this paper has richer dynamical behavior. The results obtained include: the change of time delay causing the stability switching of the system, and the greater the time delay, the more complicated the stability switching. Near the double Hopf bifurcation point, the system is simplified by using the normal form and central manifold theories. The system is divided into six regions with different dynamical properties. With the above results, for practical engineering problems, we can perform time delay feedback adjustment to make the system show amplitude death, limit loop, and so on. It is worth noting that because of the existence of unstable limit cycles in the system, the limit cycle cannot be obtained by numerical solution. Therefore, we derive the approximate analytical solution of the system and simulate the time history of the interaction between two frequencies in Region IV.

In this paper, the problem of reliable control design with mixed H∞ /passive performance is discussed for a class of Takagi–Sugeno TS fuzzy descriptor systems with time-varying delay, sensor failure, and randomly occurred non-linearity. Based on the Lyapunov theory, firstly, a less conservative admissible criterion is established by combining the delay decomposition and reciprocally convex approaches. Then, the attention is focused on the design of a reliable static output feedback (SOF) controller with mixed H∞ /passive performance requirements. The key merit of the paper is to propose a simple method to design such a controller since the system output is subject to probabilistic missing data and noise. Using the output vector as a state component, an augmented model is introduced, and sufficient conditions are derived to achieve the desired performance of the closed-loop system. In addition, the cone complementarity linearization (CCL) algorithm is provided to calculate the controller gains. At last, three numerical examples, including computer-simulated truck-trailer and ball and beam systems are given to show the efficacy of our proposed approach, compared with existing ones in the literature.

Geometrically, the affine connection is the main ingredient that underlies the covariant derivative, the parallel transport, the auto-parallel curves, the torsion tensor field, and the curvature tensor field on a finite-dimensional differentiable manifold. In this paper, we come up with a new idea of controllability and observability of states by using auto-parallel curves, and the minimum time problem controlled by the affine connection. The main contributions refer to the following: (i) auto-parallel curves controlled by a connection, (ii) reachability and controllability on the tangent bundle of a manifold, (iii) examples of equiaffine connections, (iv) minimum time problem controlled by a connection, (v) connectivity by stochastic perturbations of auto-parallel curves, and (vi) computing the optimal time and the optimal striking time. The connections with bounded pull-backs result in bang–bang optimal controls. Some significative examples on bi-dimensional manifolds clarify the intention of our paper and suggest possible applications. At the end, an example of minimum striking time with simulation results is presented.

Forward error correction codes (FEC) are one of the vital sections of modern communication systems, therefore, recognition of the coding type is an important issue in non-cooperative communication. At present, the recognition of FEC codes is mainly concentrated in the field of semi-blind identification with known types of codes. However, based on information asymmetry, the receiver cannot know the types of channel coding previously used in non-cooperative systems such as cognitive radio and remote sensing of communication. Therefore, it is important to recognize the error-correcting encoding type with no prior information. Although the traditional algorithm can also recognize the type of codes, it is only applicable to the case without errors, and its practicability is poor. In the paper, we propose a new method to identify the types of FEC codes based on depth distribution in non-cooperative communication. The proposed algorithm can effectively recognize linear block codes, convolutional codes, and Turbo codes under a low error probability level, and has a higher robustness to noise transmission environment. In addition, an improved matrix estimation algorithm based on Gaussian elimination was adopted in this paper, which effectively improves the parameter identification in a noisy environment. Finally, we used a general framework to unify all the reconstruction algorithms to simplify the complexity of the algorithm. The simulation results show that, compared with the traditional algorithm based on matrix rank, the proposed algorithm has a better anti-interference performance. The method proposed is simple and convenient for engineering and practical applications.

The paper presents an analysis and overview of vertex–frequency analysis, an emerging area in graph signal processing. A strong formal link of this area to classical time–frequency analysis is provided. Vertex–frequency localization-based approaches to analyzing signals on the graph emerged as a response to challenges of analysis of big data on irregular domains. Graph signals are either localized in the vertex domain before the spectral analysis is performed or are localized in the spectral domain prior to the inverse graph Fourier transform is applied. The latter approach is the spectral form of the vertex–frequency analysis, and it will be considered in this paper since the spectral domain for signal localization is well ordered and thus simpler for application to the graph signals. The localized graph Fourier transform is defined based on its counterpart, the short-time Fourier transform, in classical signal analysis. We consider various spectral window forms based on which these transforms can tackle the localized signal behavior. Conditions for the signal reconstruction, known as the overlap-and-add (OLA) and weighted overlap-and-add (WOLA) methods, are also considered. Since the graphs can be very large, the realizations of vertex–frequency representations using polynomial form localization have a particular significance. These forms use only very localized vertex domains, and do not require either the graph Fourier transform or the inverse graph Fourier transform, are computationally efficient. These kinds of implementations are then applied to classical time–frequency analysis since their simplicity can be very attractive for the implementation in the case of large time-domain signals. Spectral varying forms of the localization functions are presented as well. These spectral varying forms are related to the wavelet transform. For completeness, the inversion and signal reconstruction are discussed as well. The presented theory is illustrated and demonstrated on numerical examples.

The purpose of this paper is to introduce the split combination of variational inclusion problem which combines the concept of the modified variational inclusion problem introduced by Khuangsatung and Kangtunyakarn and the split variational inclusion problem introduced by Moudafi. Using a modified Halpern iterative method, we prove the strong convergence theorem for finding a common solution for the hierarchical fixed point problem and the split combination of variational inclusion problem. The result presented in this paper demonstrates the corresponding result for the split zero point problem and the split combination of variation inequality problem. Moreover, we discuss a numerical example for supporting our result and the numerical example shows that our result is not true if some conditions fail.

A mathematical chaos model for the dynamical behaviors of atmospheric acoustic-gravity waves is considered in this paper. Boundedness and globally attractive sets of this chaos model are studied by means of the generalized Lyapunov function method. The innovation of this paper is that it not only proves this system is globally bounded but also provides a series of global attraction sets of this system. The rate of trajectories entering from the exterior of the trapping domain to its interior is also obtained. Finally, the detailed numerical simulations are carried out to justify theoretical results. The results in this study can be used to study chaos control and chaos synchronization of this chaos system.

In this paper, several relations are obtained among the Riemann zeta and Hurwitz zeta functions, as well as their products. A particular case of these relations give rise to a simple re-derivation of the important results of Katsurada and Matsumoto on the mean square of the Hurwitz zeta function. Also, a relation derived here provides the starting point of a novel approach which, in a series of companion papers, yields a formal proof of the Lindel&ouml, f hypothesis. Some of the above relations motivate the need for analysing the large &alpha, behaviour of the modified Hurwitz zeta function &zeta, 1 ( s , &alpha, ) , s &isin, C , &alpha, &isin, ( 0 , &infin, ) , which is also presented here.

This paper focuses on the dynamic effects of flexible propellers on F2 class aircraft models. An oscillating propeller affects an engine’s mechanical performance, and this combination has a huge influence on the model’s flight dynamic performance. In the first and second sections of this paper, two physical tests that were performed according to the test results obtained using a CFX numerical model are discussed. The studies on flexible propellers for class F2 aircraft models performed in this paper show that, when the first resonant frequencies of the propeller are within the operating range of the aircraft, better flight parameters are achieved. This study helps to explain the effect of a glass composite’s Young’s modulus on the mechanical behavior of a physical propeller in operating conditions and the effect of propeller stiffness on flapping propeller dynamics and unsteady aerodynamics.

The fractional calculus is useful in describing the natural phenomena with memory effect. This paper addresses the fractional form of Ambartsumian equation with a delay parameter. It may be a challenge to obtain accurate approximate solution of such kinds of fractional delay equations. In the literature, several attempts have been conducted to analyze the fractional Ambartsumian equation. However, the previous approaches in the literature led to approximate power series solutions which converge in subdomains. Such difficulties are solved in this paper via the Homotopy Perturbation Method (HPM). The present approximations are expressed in terms of the Mittag-Leffler functions which converge in the whole domain of the studied model. The convergence issue is also addressed. Several comparisons with the previous published results are discussed. In particular, while the computed solution in the literature is physical in short domains, with our approach it is physical in the whole domain. The results reveal that the HPM is an effective tool to analyzing the fractional Ambartsumian equation.

The paper shows that, in looking for exact solutions to nonlinear PDEs, the direct method of functional separation of variables can, in certain cases, be more effective than the method of differential constraints based on the compatibility analysis of PDEs with a single constraint (or the nonclassical method of symmetry reductions based on an invariant surface condition). This fact is illustrated by examples of nonlinear reaction-diffusion and convection-diffusion equations with variable coefficients, and nonlinear Klein&ndash, Gordon-type equations. Hydrodynamic boundary layer equations, nonlinear Schr&ouml, dinger type equations, and a few third-order PDEs are also investigated. Several new exact functional separable solutions are given. A possibility of increasing the efficiency of the Clarkson&ndash, Kruskal direct method is discussed. A generalization of the direct method of the functional separation of variables is also described. Note that all nonlinear PDEs considered in the paper include one or several arbitrary functions.

In this paper the notion of ∗ -Weyl curvature tensor on real hypersurfaces in non-flat complex space forms is introduced. It is related to the ∗ -Ricci tensor of a real hypersurface. The aim of this paper is to provide two classification theorems concerning real hypersurfaces in non-flat complex space forms in terms of ∗ -Weyl curvature tensor. More precisely, Hopf hypersurfaces of dimension greater or equal to three in non-flat complex space forms with vanishing ∗ -Weyl curvature tensor are classified. Next, all three dimensional real hypersurfaces in non-flat complex space forms, whose ∗ -Weyl curvature tensor vanishes identically are classified. The used methods are based on tools from differential geometry and solving systems of differential equations.

This paper focuses on multi-attribute group decision-making (MAGDM) course in which attributes are evaluated in terms of interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy (IVIF) information. More explicitly, this paper introduces new aggregation operators for IVIF information and further proposes a new IVIF MAGDM method. The power average (PA) operator and the Muirhead mean (MM) are two powerful and effective information aggregation technologies. The most attractive advantage of the PA operator is its power to combat the adverse effects of ultra-evaluation values on the information aggregation results. The prominent characteristic of the MM operator is that it is flexible to capture the interrelationship among any numbers of arguments, making it more powerful than Bonferroni mean (BM), Heronian mean (HM), and Maclaurin symmetric mean (MSM). To absorb the virtues of both PA and MM, it is necessary to combine them to aggregate IVIF information and propose IVIF power Muirhead mean (IVIFPMM) operator and the IVIF weighted power Muirhead mean (IVIFWPMM) operator. We investigate their properties to show the strongness and flexibility. Furthermore, a novel approach to MAGDM problems with IVIF decision-making information is introduced. Finally, a numerical example is provided to show the performance of the proposed method.

In this paper, Normalized Weighted Bonferroni Mean (NWBM) and Normalized Weighted Bonferroni Harmonic Mean (NWBHM) aggregation operators are proposed. Besides, we check the properties thereof, which include idempotency, monotonicity, commutativity, and boundedness. As the intuitionistic fuzzy numbers are used as a basis for the decision making to effectively handle the real-life uncertainty, we extend the NWBM and NWBHM operators into the intuitionistic fuzzy environment. By further modifying the NWBHM, we propose additional aggregation operators, namely the Intuitionistic Fuzzy Normalized Weighted Bonferroni Harmonic Mean (IFNWBHM) and the Intuitionistic Fuzzy Ordered Normalized Weighted Bonferroni Harmonic Mean (IFNONWBHM). The paper winds up with an empirical example of multi-attribute group decision making (MAGDM) based on triangular intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. To serve this end, we apply the IFNWBHM aggregation operator.

The integral representation of the two-parameter Mittag-Leffler function E &rho, &mu, ( z ) is considered in the paper that expresses its value in terms of the contour integral. For this integral representation, the transition is made from integration over a complex variable to integration over real variables. It is shown that as a result of such a transition, the integral representation of the function E &rho, ( z ) has two forms: the representation &ldquo, A&rdquo, and &ldquo, B&rdquo, Each of these representations has its advantages and drawbacks. In the paper, the corresponding theorems are formulated and proved, and the advantages and disadvantages of each of the obtained representations are discussed.

The famous Toms effect (1948) consists of a substantial increase of the critical Reynolds number when a small amount of soluble polymer is introduced into water. The most noticeable influence of polymer additives is manifested in the boundary layer near solid surfaces. The goal of the present paper is a group analysis of the boundary layer equations in two mathematical models of the flow of aqueous polymer solutions: the second grade fluid (Rivlin and Ericksen, 1955) and the model derived by Pavlovskii (1971). The equations of the unsteady two-dimensional boundary layer in the Pavlovskii and Rivlin-Ericksen models are analyzed for the first time here. These equations have no definite type so that finding their exact solutions is very important in order to understand the mathematical nature of the above mentioned models. The problem of group classification with respect to the arbitrary function of the longitudinal coordinate and time present in the equations, which sets the pressure gradient of the external flow, arises. All functions for which an extension of the admitted Lie group occurs are found. The task includes the ratio of two characteristic length scales. One of them is the Prandtl scale, and another is defined as the square root of the normalized coefficient of relaxation viscosity (Frolovskaya and Pukhnachev, 2018) and does not depend on the characteristics of the motion. The paper contains a number of exact solutions in the Pavlovskii model including a solution describing the flow near a critical point. Among the solutions of the new model of the boundary layer, a special place is taken by the solution of the stationary problem of flow around a rectilinear plate. Within the framework of the Prandtl theory of the boundary layer, such a solution was constructed by Blasius (1908). As is well-known, this solution has a non-removable defect: the transverse velocity near the edge of the plate increases without bound. The introduction of a relaxation term into the model makes it possible to eliminate this singularity.

The Opial property of Hilbert spaces is essential in many fixed point theorems of non-expansive maps. While the Opial property does not hold in every Banach space, the Bregman&ndash, Opial property does. This suggests to study fixed point theorems for various Bregman non-expansive like maps in the general Banach space setting. In this paper, after introducing the notion of Bregman generalized hybrid sequences in a reflexive Banach space, we prove (with using the Bregman&ndash, Opial property instead of the Opial property) convergence theorems for such sequences. We also provide new fixed point theorems for Bregman generalized hybrid maps defined on an arbitrary but not necessarily convex subset of a reflexive Banach space. We end this paper with a brief discussion of the existence of Bregman absolute fixed points of such maps.

In this paper, a wind speed prediction method was proposed based on the maximum Lyapunov exponent (Le) and the fractional Levy stable motion (fLsm) iterative prediction model. First, the calculation of the maximum prediction steps was introduced based on the maximum Le. The maximum prediction steps could provide the prediction steps for subsequent prediction models. Secondly, the fLsm iterative prediction model was established by stochastic differential. Meanwhile, the parameters of the fLsm iterative prediction model were obtained by rescaled range analysis and novel characteristic function methods, thereby obtaining a wind speed prediction model. Finally, in order to reduce the error in the parameter estimation of the prediction model, we adopted the method of weighted wind speed data. The wind speed prediction model in this paper was compared with GA-BP neural network and the results of wind speed prediction proved the effectiveness of the method that is proposed in this paper. In particular, fLsm has long-range dependence (LRD) characteristics and identified LRD by estimating self-similarity index H and characteristic index &alpha, Compared with fractional Brownian motion, fLsm can describe the LRD process more flexibly. However, the two parameters are not independent because the LRD condition relates them by &alpha, H &gt, 1.

The aim of this paper is to study the Lagrange interpolation on the unit circle taking only into account the separation properties of the nodal points. The novelty of this paper is that we do not consider nodal systems connected with orthogonal or paraorthogonal polynomials, which is an interesting approach because in practical applications this connection may not exist. A detailed study of the properties satisfied by the nodal system and the corresponding nodal polynomial is presented. We obtain the relevant results of the convergence related to the process for continuous smooth functions as well as the rate of convergence. Analogous results for interpolation on the bounded interval are deduced and finally some numerical examples are presented.

In a joint paper with Srivastava and Chopra, we introduced far-reaching generalizations of the extended Gammafunction, extended Beta function and the extended Gauss hypergeometric function. In this present paper, we extend the generalized Mittag–Leffler function by means of the extended Beta function. We then systematically investigate several properties of the extended Mittag–Leffler function, including, for example, certain basic properties, Laplace transform, Mellin transform and Euler-Beta transform. Further, certain properties of the Riemann–Liouville fractional integrals and derivatives associated with the extended Mittag–Leffler function are investigated. Some interesting special cases of our main results are also pointed out.

This paper proposes an approach for the space-fractional diffusion equation in one dimension. Since fractional differential operators are non-local, two main difficulties arise after discretization and solving using Gaussian elimination: how to handle the memory requirement of O(N2) for storing the dense or even full matrices that arise from application of numerical methods and how to manage the significant computational work count of O(N3) per time step, where N is the number of spatial grid points. In this paper, a fast iterative finite difference method is developed, which has a memory requirement of O(N) and a computational cost of O(N logN) per iteration. Finally, some numerical results are shown to verify the accuracy and efficiency of the new method.

This paper is a follow-up of a previous paper of the author published in Mathematics journal in 2015, which treats the so-called continuous fractional orthogonal derivative. In this paper, we treat the discrete case using the fractional orthogonal difference. The theory is illustrated with an application of a fractional differentiating filter. In particular, graphs are presented of the absolutel value of the modulus of the frequency response. These make clear that for a good insight into the behavior of a fractional differentiating filter, one has to look for the modulus of its frequency response in a log-log plot, rather than for plots in the time domain.

The present paper studies the fixed point property (FPP) for closed k-surfaces. We also intensively study Euler characteristics of a closed k-surface and a connected sum of closed k-surfaces. Furthermore, we explore some relationships between the FPP and Euler characteristics of closed k-surfaces. After explaining how to define the Euler characteristic of a closed k-surface more precisely, we confirm a certain consistency of the Euler characteristic of a closed k-surface and a continuous analog of it. In proceeding with this work, for a simple closed k-surface in Z 3 , say S k , we can see that both the minimal 26-adjacency neighborhood of a point x &isin, S k , denoted by M k ( x ) , and the geometric realization of it in R 3 , denoted by D k ( x ) , play important roles in both digital surface theory and fixed point theory. Moreover, we prove that the simple closed 18-surfaces M S S 18 and M S S 18 &prime, do not have the almost fixed point property (AFPP). Consequently, we conclude that the triviality or the non-triviality of the Euler characteristics of simple closed k-surfaces have no relationships with the FPP in digital topology. Using this fact, we correct many errors in many papers written by L. Boxer et al.

The present paper recalls a formulation of non-conservative system dynamics through the Lagrange&ndash, d&rsquo, Alembert principle expressed through a generalized Euler&ndash, Poincar&eacute, form of the system equation on a Lie group. The paper illustrates applications of the generalized Euler&ndash, equations on the rotation groups to a gyrostat satellite and a quadcopter drone. The numerical solution of the dynamical equations on the rotation groups is tackled via a generalized forward Euler method and an explicit Runge&ndash, Kutta integration method tailored to Lie groups.

In this paper, a mathematical model based on the one-parameter Mittag-Leffler function is proposed to be used for the first time to describe the relation between the unemployment rate and the inflation rate, also known as the Phillips curve. The Phillips curve is in the literature often represented by an exponential-like shape. On the other hand, Phillips in his fundamental paper used a power function in the model definition. Considering that the ordinary as well as generalised Mittag-Leffler function behave between a purely exponential function and a power function it is natural to implement it in the definition of the model used to describe the relation between the data representing the Phillips curve. For the modelling purposes the data of two different European economies, France and Switzerland, were used and an &ldquo, out-of-sample&rdquo, forecast was done to compare the performance of the Mittag-Leffler model to the performance of the power-type and exponential-type model. The results demonstrate that the ability of the Mittag-Leffler function to fit data that manifest signs of stretched exponentials, oscillations or even damped oscillations can be of use when describing economic relations and phenomenons, such as the Phillips curve.

In an earlier paper, we gave a proof of the conjecture of the pinching of the bisectional curvature mentioned in those two papers of Hong et al. of 1988 and 2011. Moreover, we proved that any compact Kähler–Einstein surface M is a quotient of the complex two-dimensional unit ball or the complex two-dimensional plane if (1) M has a nonpositive Einstein constant, and (2) at each point, the average holomorphic sectional curvature is closer to the minimal than to the maximal. Following Siu and Yang, we used a minimal holomorphic sectional curvature direction argument, which made it easier for the experts in this direction to understand our proof. On this note, we use a maximal holomorphic sectional curvature direction argument, which is shorter and easier for the readers who are new in this direction.

Probabilistic evolution theory (PREVTH) forms a framework for the solution of explicit ODEs. The purpose of the paper is two-fold: (1) conversion of multinomial right-hand sides of the ODEs to purely second degree multinomial right-hand sides by space extension, (2) decrease the computational burden of probabilistic evolution theory by using the condensed Kronecker product. A first order ODE set with multinomial right-hand side functions may be converted to a first order ODE set with purely second degree multinomial right-hand side functions at the expense of an increase in the number of equations and unknowns. Obtaining purely second degree multinomial right-hand side functions is important because the solution of such equation set may be approximated by probabilistic evolution theory. A recent article by the authors states that the ODE set with the smallest number of unknowns can be found by searching. This paper gives the details of a way to search for the optimal space extension. As for the second purpose of the paper, the computational burden can be reduced by considering the properties of the Kronecker product of vectors and how the Kronecker product appears within the recursion of PREVTH: as a Cauchy product structure.

This paper focuses on the problem of finite-time stabilization of homogeneous, non-Lipschitz systems with dilations. A key contribution of this paper is the design of a virtual recursive Hölder, non-Lipschitz state feedback which renders the non-Lipschitz systems in the special case dominated by a lower-triangular nonlinear system, finite-time stable. The proof is based on a recursive design algorithm developed recently, to construct the virtual Hölder continuous, finite-time stabilizer as well as a C1 positive definite and proper Lyapunov function that guarantees finite-time stability of the non-Lipschitz non-linear systems.

Despite the widely-held premise that initial boundary conditions (BCs) corresponding to measurements/interactions can fully specify a physical subsystem, a literal reading of Hamilton's principle would imply that both initial and final BCs are required (or more generally, a BC on a closed hypersurface in spacetime). Such a time-symmetric perspective of BCs, as applied to classical fields, leads to interesting parallels with quantum theory. This paper will map out some of the consequences of this counter-intuitive premise, as applied to covariant classical fields. Using some of the extended fixed point results for Geraghty contractions in b-metric spaces given by Faraji, Savić and Radenović and their idea to apply these results to nonlinear integral equations, in this paper we present some existence and uniqueness conditions for the solution of a nonlinear Fredholm&ndash, Volterra integral equation with a modified argument.

We develop a unified convergence analysis of three-step iterative schemes for solving nonlinear Banach space valued equations. The local convergence order has been shown before to be five on the finite dimensional Euclidean space assuming Taylor expansions and the existence of the sixth derivative not on these schemes. So, the usage of them is restricted six or higher differentiable mappings. But in our paper only the first Frèchet derivative is utilized to show convergence. Consequently, the scheme is expanded. Numerical applications are also given to test convergence.

Owning to the importance and great interest of differential operators, two generalized differential operators, which may be symmetric or assymetric, are newly introduced in the present paper. Motivated by the familiar Jackson’s second and third Bessel functions, we derive necessary and sufficient conditions for which the new generalized operators belong to the class of q-starlike functions of order alpha. Several corollaries and consequences of the main results are also pointed out.

The paper analyzes a two-stage oligopoly game of semi-collusion in production described by a system with a symmetric structure. We examine the local stability of a Nash equilibrium and the presence of bifurcations. We discover that the model is capable of exhibiting extremely complicated dynamic behaviors.

A submersion from an almost contact Riemannian manifold to an almost Hermitian manifold, acting on the horizontal distribution by preserving both the metric and the structure, is, roughly speaking a contact-complex Riemannian submersion. This paper deals mainly with a contact-complex Riemannian submersion from an η-Ricci soliton; it studies when the base manifold is Einstein on one side and when the fibres are η-Einstein submanifolds on the other side. Some results concerning the potential are also obtained here.

In this paper, within the framework of the consistent approach recently introduced for approximate Lie symmetries of differential equations, we consider approximate Noether symmetries of variational problems involving small terms. Then, we state an approximate Noether theorem leading to the construction of approximate conservation laws. Some illustrative applications are presented.

For the spatially-distributed Fermi–Pasta–Ulam (FPU) equation, irregular solutions are studied that contain components rapidly oscillating in the spatial variable, with different asymptotically large modes. The main result of this paper is the construction of families of special nonlinear systems of the Schrödinger type—quasinormal forms—whose nonlocal dynamics determines the local behavior of solutions to the original problem, as t→∞. On their basis, results are obtained on the asymptotics in the main solution of the FPU equation and on the interaction of waves moving in opposite directions. The problem of “perturbing” the number of N elements of a chain is considered. In this case, instead of the differential operator, with respect to one spatial variable, a special differential operator, with respect to two spatial variables appears. This leads to a complication of the structure of an irregular solution.

The present paper proposes a five-dimensional mathematical model for studying the labor market, focusing on unemployment, migration, fixed term contractors, full time employment and the number of available vacancies. The distributed time delay is considered in the rate of change of available vacancies that depends on the past regular employment levels. The non-dimensional mathematical model is introduced and the existence of the equilibrium points is analyzed. The positivity and boundedness of solutions are provided and global asymptotic stability findings are presented both for the employment free equilibrium and the positive equilibrium. The numerical simulations support the theoretical results.

A generalization of fractional vector calculus as a self-consistent mathematical theory is proposed to take into account a general form of non-locality in kernels of fractional vector differential and integral operators. Self-consistency involves proving generalizations of all fundamental theorems of vector calculus for generalized kernels of operators. In the generalization of FVC from power-law nonlocality to the general form of nonlocality in space, we use the general fractional calculus in the Luchko approach. This paper proposed the following: (1) Self-consistent definitions of general fractional differential vector operators: the regional and line general fractional gradients, the regional and surface general fractional curl operators, the general fractional divergence are proposed. (2) Self-consistent definitions of general fractional integral vector operators: the general fractional circulation, general fractional flux and general fractional volume integral are proposed. (3) The general fractional gradient, Green, Stokes and Gauss theorems as fundamental theorems of general fractional vector calculus are proved for simple and complex regions. The fundamental theorems (Gradient, Green, Stokes, Gauss theorems) of the proposed general FVC are proved for a wider class of domains, surfaces and curves. Therefore we can state that we proposed a calculus, which is a general fractional vector calculus. The difficulties and problems of defining general fractional integral and differential vector operators are discussed to the nonlocal case, caused by the violation of standard product (Leibniz) rule, chain rule, and semigroup property. In this paper, we establish an injectivity theorem on a weakly pseudoconvex Kähler manifold X with negative sectional curvature. For this purpose, we develop the harmonic theory in this circumstance. The negative sectional curvature condition is usually satisfied by the manifolds with hyperbolicity, such as symmetric spaces, bounded symmetric domains in Cn, hyperconvex bounded domains, and so on.

In this paper, a modified exponentiated family of distributions is introduced. The new model was built from a continuous parent cumulative distribution function and depends on a shape parameter. Its most relevant characteristics have been obtained: the probability density function, quantile function, moments, stochastic ordering, Poisson mixture with our proposal as the mixing distribution, order statistics, tail behavior and estimates of parameters. We highlight the particular model based on the classical exponential distribution, which is an alternative to the exponentiated exponential, gamma and Weibull. A simulation study and a real application are presented. It is shown that the proposed family of distributions is of interest to applied areas, such as economics, reliability and finances.
