Measuring firm value from an environmental, social, and governance perspective is a core concept of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), which contributes to the sustainable growth of firms. This paper aims to investigate the relationship between firms' ESG performance and perceived economic uncertainty. Using a database of Chinese listed firms from 2011 to 2020, we find that firms with a good ESG performance are better able to resist changes in the external economic environment in the ESG rating system which still holds after a series of robustness tests and a discussion of endogeneity. The reason for this is that the ESG rating system better reduces information uncertainty between firms and the market, which allows firms to better focus on improving their technological and profit levels. In addition, companies with good ESG performance can provide more returns to investors. Our results highlight the necessity of aligning the interests between superior and subordinate governments and the importance of the supervision of superior governments in environmental decentralization. Our findings highlight the role of information communication in the market, especially in developing countries with imperfect information disclosure. Fuzzy sets possess remarkable abilities in expressing and handling information uncertainty, which has resulted in their widespread application in various fields. Nevertheless, distance measurement between IFSs for quantitating their differences and levels of differentiation has remained an open problem that deserves attention. Despite the development of various metrics, they either lack intuitive insight or do not satisfy the axioms of distance measurement, leading to counterintuitive results. To address these issues, this paper proposed a distance measurement method based on Clark divergence, which satisfies the distance measurement axioms and exhibits nonlinearity. Numerical examples demonstrate that our method effectively distinguishes different indicators, yielding more reasonable results. Moreover, when comparing relative differences of the results, our method demonstrated superior adaptability to complex environmental decision-making, providing decision-makers with more accurate and confidential judgments. In our numerical and pattern classification application tests, we achieve an accuracy of 98%, a 40% increase in computing time efficiency and a relative diversity improvement of 35%. The United Nations' sustainable development goals have highlighted the significance of improving supply chain sustainability and ensuring the proper distribution of orders. This study proposes a novel framework involving Z-number, game theory, an indifference threshold-based attribute ratio analysis (ITARA), and a combined compromise solution method (CoCoSo) to evaluate the sustainability of suppliers and order allocations. To better reflect the decision makers' current choices for the sustainability of assessed suppliers and order allocations and enhance the comprehensiveness of decision-making, the importance parameter of the supplier is obtained through game theory objectively for transforming supplier performance into order allocation performance. The Z-numbers are involved in ITARA (so-called ZITARA) and CoCoSo (so-called ZCoCoSo) to overcome the issue of information uncertainty in the process of expert evaluation. ZITARA and ZCoCoSo are used to determine the objective weights of criteria and to rank the evaluated order allocations, respectively. A case study of a China company is then presented to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed framework and to inform their decision-making process regarding which suppliers the orders should be assigned to. To model fuzzy numbers with the confidence degree and better account for information uncertainty, Zadeh came up with the notion of Z-numbers, which can effectively combine the objective information of things with subjective human interpretation of perceptive information, thereby improving the human comprehension of natural language. Although many numbers are in fact Z-numbers, their higher computational complexity often prevents their recognition as such. In order to reduce computational complexity, this paper reviews the development and research direction of Z-numbers and deduces the operational rules for symmetric triangular Z-numbers. We first transform them into classical fuzzy numbers. Using linear programming, the extension principle of Zadeh, the convolution formula, and fuzzy number algorithms, we determine the operational rules for the basic operations of symmetric triangular Z-numbers, which are number-multiplication, addition, subtraction, multiplication, power, and division. Our operational rules reduce the complexity of calculation, improve computational efficiency, and effectively reduce the information difference while being applicable to other complex operations. Sustainable development is a practical path to optimize industrial structures and enhance investment efficiency. Investigating risk contagion within ESG industries is a crucial step towards reducing systemic risks and fostering the green evolution of the economy. This research constructs ESG industry indices, taking into account the possibility of extreme tail risks, and employs VaR and CoVaR as measures of tail risk. The TENET network approach is integrated to to capture the structural evolution and direction of information flow among ESG industries, employing information entropy to quantify the topological characteristics of the network model, exploring the risk transmission paths and evolution patterns of ESG industries in an extreme tail risk event. Finally, Mantel tests are conducted to examine the existence of significant risk spillover effects between ESG and traditional industries. The research finds strong correlations among ESG industry indices during stock market crash, Sino–US trade frictions, and the COVID-19 pandemic, with industries such as the COAL, CMP, COM, RT, and RE playing key roles in risk transmission within the network, transmitting risks to other industries. Affected by systemic risk, the information entropy of the TENET network significantly decreases, reducing market information uncertainty and leading market participants to adopt more uniform investment strategies, thus diminishing the diversity of market behaviors. In research of a better description for information uncertainty, Z-numbers, which are related to both the objective information and the subjective criticism, were first conceptualized by Zadeh. Because of its neologism, there have been multitudinous attempts toward continuation and expansion of the prototype. In this paper, we mainly study varieties of theoretical preparations for classical Z-numbers and derive the maximum expected linear programming model of Z-numbers, which are constructed on the basis of reliability conversion factors and proliferation on applications due to their simplicity. Firstly, by means of transforming Z-numbers into LR fuzzy intervals through their reliability variable, the credibility distribution and inverse distribution of converted Z-numbers are stated precisely. Then, the operational law of independent variables and its expected value can be derived via credibility distribution. The maximum expected Z-number linear programming model is determined on the basis of previous theoretical preparations, and it transforms from a classical Z-number chance-constrained model into a crisp one. Finally, with the aim of improving the programming method, its application in pragmatic practice with the realistic examples of a supplier section and optimal portfolio problems are enumerated to interpret the effectiveness of our model. New insights into intractable industrial challenges can be revealed by framing them in terms of natural science. One intractable industrial challenge is that creative production can be much more financially expensive and time consuming than standardized production. Creative products include a wide range of goods that have one or more original characteristics. The scaling up of creative production is hindered by high financial production costs and long production durations. In this paper, creative production is framed in terms of interactions between entropy and complexity during progressions from emergent pragmatics to action semantics. An analysis of interactions between entropy and complexity is provided that relates established practice in creative production to organizational survival in changing environments. The analysis in this paper is related to assembly theory, which is a recent theoretical development in natural science that addresses how open-ended generation of complex physical objects can emerge from selection in biology. Parallels between assembly practice in industrial production and assembly theory in natural science are explained through constructs that are common to both, such as assembly index. Overall, analyses reported in the paper reveal that interactions between entropy and complexity underlie intractable challenges in creative production, from the production of individual products to the survival of companies. With the expansion of the new energy vehicle market, electric vehicle batteries (EVBs) have entered a massive retirement wave. The strategic level of facility location and configuration decisions and the tactical level of multi-product flow and multi-technology selection decisions have been integrated into a sustainable reverse logistics network (SRLN). In this paper, we considered multiple kinds of waste electric vehicle batteries (WEVBs) with multiple recycling technology and constructed a multi-level SRLN model for WEVBs with the objectives of minimum economic costs and minimum carbon emissions. To solve this model, fuzzy set theory was applied to the equivalence transformation of constraints, non-interactive and interactive methods were used to solve the multi-objective planning (MOP), and interactive fuzzy programming with priority control was proposed to find the global optimal solution for this model. Finally, numerical experiments demonstrated the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed model and solution method. The experimental results show that the SRLN model considering carbon emissions can significantly reduce carbon emissions of the network through a slight increase in the initial network construction cost, thus effectively balancing both economic and environmental objectives. In the non-interactive solution, the Lp-metric method has a lower deviation index than the weighted sum method; in the interactive solution, the priority control method proposed in this paper outperforms the TH method in terms of the number of practical solutions and CPU time and shows strong performance in searching and finding optimal solutions. Measuring the correlation between belief functions is an important issue in Dempster–Shafer theory. From the perspective of uncertainty, analyzing the correlation may provide a more comprehensive reference for uncertain information processing. However, existing studies about correlation have not combined it with uncertainty. In order to address the problem, this paper proposes a new correlation measure based on belief entropy and relative entropy, named a belief correlation measure. This measure takes into account the influence of information uncertainty on their relevance, which can provide a more comprehensive measure for quantifying the correlation between belief functions. Meanwhile, the belief correlation measure has the mathematical properties of probabilistic consistency, non-negativity, non-degeneracy, boundedness, orthogonality, and symmetry. Furthermore, based on the belief correlation measure, an information fusion method is proposed. It introduces the objective weight and subjective weight to assess the credibility and usability of belief functions, thus providing a more comprehensive measurement for each piece of evidence. In underground mines, physical layer security (PLS) technology is a promising method for the effective and secure communication to monitor the mining process. Therefore, in this paper, we investigate the PLS of an amplify-and-forward relay-aided system in power monitoring and communication systems for mining, with the consideration of multiple eavesdroppers. Explicitly, we propose a PLS scheme of cooperative jamming and precoding for a full-duplex system considering imperfect channel state information. To maximize the secrecy rate of the communications, an effective block coordinate descent algorithm is used to design the precoding and jamming matrix at both the source and the relay. This study investigates the impact of information uncertainty on analysts' earnings forecasts for a sample of European companies from 2010 to 2019. We argue that representativeness, anchoring and adjustment, and leniency biases jointly influence analysts' forecasts and lead to optimism. We suggest that uncertainty boosts analysts' optimism as behavioral biases increase in situations of low predictability. We test analysts' optimism through the association between forecast errors and, separately, two modifications (forecast revision and forecast change) when these modifications are upwards and downwards. To examine the uncertainty effect, we implement descriptive and regression analyses for two subsamples of high-tech and low-tech firms. The evidence indicates that analysts are optimistic, as they overreact to positive prediction modifications and underreact to negative prediction modifications. The optimism is more significant for high-tech firms and increases considerably with the forecast horizon. Firms engaging in innovative practices have patents to prevent competitive forces from eroding the resulting economic rents; however, there is limited evidence regarding the impact of innovation on risk. We shed new light on how firms' involvement in innovation activities impacts their volatility, particularly their idiosyncratic volatility. In this paper, we empirically examine the effect of innovation on idiosyncratic volatility. To do so, we empirically examine the impact of innovation, measured by patents weighted by citations and R&D expenditure, on the idiosyncratic volatility of firms. Using a large sample of 8256 US firms, we find that more innovation is associated with lower idiosyncratic volatility. We also find that information uncertainty is the channel through which innovation affects idiosyncratic risk. The results are robust for different measures of idiosyncratic volatility. This study models a two-stage agricultural supply chain consisting of a financially constrained manufacturer of agricultural products and a financially stable retailer. We examine two supply chain structures: traditional and dual channel. Our analysis centers on the effects of consumer green preferences, consumer sensitivity to the freshness of agricultural products, and substitution rate between green and non-green agricultural products on the profitability of supply chain members. The purpose of this work is to study the optimal financing strategy for companies producing both regular and organic products simultaneously. We analyze optimal financing strategies for the manufacturer using three models: bank financing, internal debt financing, and internal equity financing. Our results indicate that in both traditional and dual-channel supply chains, increased consumer green preferences or greater sensitivity to the freshness of agricultural products improve supply chain profitability, while a higher substitution rate between green and non-green products reduces profits. Additionally, the manufacturer prefers internal debt financing when consumer environmental awareness is low. Conversely, as consumer environmental awareness increases, internal equity financing becomes more profitable. In the face of global climate change and the collision of consumer preferences towards green and low-carbon, businesses need to accelerate the transition to sustainable development to achieve long-term growth. Companies must raise significant funds to support this transition and manage high market risk. The existing research on green innovation within supply chains often overlooks market risks, particularly those associated with incomplete information. Hence, this paper considers a two-echelon supply chain system composed of a manufacturer and a retailer. Manufacturers are willing to carry out green innovation and make a single product for sale in the consumer market with green preferences. However, innovation is risky due to the uncertainty in the sales volume of green products. In addition, the manufacturer may lack internal capital to invest in the innovation activities and may seek external financial resources, e.g., bank loans or retail prepayment financing. Hence, the manufacturer and retailer must decide which financial option to adopt. The results show that when the market risk is high, the supply chain members tend to make conservative decisions, no matter which financial modes they choose. However, with the robust optimization approach, the manufacturer and the retailer may earn a higher profit when the market risk is high. When the prepayment rate and bank loan interest rate are equal, regardless of the market risk, the manufacturer's optimal decision is to choose prepayment financing from the retailer. Pregnancy planning and genetic testing (PPGT) has emerged as a tool in reproductive healthcare, offering parents-to-be insight in their risks of having a child with a genetic disorder. This paper reviews the advantages, drawbacks and challenges associated with PPGT, providing some practical guidance for health care professionals. Advantages include identification of genetic risks, a possibility to informed reproductive decision-making, and the potential to reduce the parents-to-be risk for an affected child. Challenges and drawbacks include provision of service, ethical considerations, genetic counselling complexities, and the need to increase public and professional awareness by comprehensive education and accessibility. Practical guidance involves considerations for selecting appropriate candidates, counselling strategies, and how to integrate PPGT into existing healthcare frameworks. The surface texture parameter is a real reflection of the surface topography, which is closely related to the tribological properties of the surface, and the study of the correlation between the surface texture parameter and wear resistance is of great significance in revealing the tribological influence mechanism of the surface and realising the functional manufacturing of the surface. This paper takes the ball-end milling surface as the research object, establishes the three-dimensional simulation model of the surface topography, and analyses the surface topography and the surface texture parameter change rule. Based on the improved correlation analysis model, the correlation characteristics between the surface texture parameters, and between the surface texture parameters and the relative wear rate of per unit sliding distance KV, were investigated, and the prediction model of KV was established based on the surface texture parameters Sku, Sa, Sxp, Sp, and Ssk, and the correctness of the model was verified by experiments. The study in this paper provides a new idea to further reveal the relationship between surface topographical features and wear resistance and to guide the functional manufacturing of surfaces. The importance of decentralised managers in the organisational decision-making process has been the subject of studies advocating different concepts. This study aims to comprehend the role of decentralised managers in the decision-making process of a large industrial company. To this end, the case study method was adopted. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with the organisation's top manager and decentralised managers. Based on the results of this investigation, it was possible to see that the organisation's decentralised managers have a high degree of influence on the decision-making process and are responsible for adapting strategies and decisions according to the specific needs of their areas of activity. Therefore, this study significantly contributes to the theoretical and practical understanding of organisational decision-making processes. Furthermore, it provides a valuable foundation for further research into the decision-making processes of decentralised managers, thereby addressing a gap in the existing literature on their influence on organisational decision-making. Objectives: To address urgent staffing shortages, hospitals increasingly rely on agency labor. Given that staffing can significantly impact hospital performance, the aim of this study was to understand the organizational and market factors associated with agency labor utilization in US hospitals. Methods: Utilizing concepts from the Resource Dependence Theory (RDT), data for the calendar year 2022 for short-term acute care in United States hospitals (n = 2756) were analyzed with logistic regression analysis. We explored total agency labor expense (operationalized as a dichotomous variable at the 75th and 90th percentiles) in the presence of numerous organizational and market independent variables. Results: The results revealed that as markets become less complex (as measured by market concentration), the level of agency labor expense increases (β: 0.843, p < 0.001), while our chosen variables related to munificence (rural location; β: −1.634, p < 0.001) and dynamism (Medicare payor mix; β: −0.025, p < 0.001) were negatively associated with an increase in total agency labor expense. Conclusions: In general, our results appear to support the tenets of the RDT. We find that increased use of agency labor in hospitals is predicated on the hospital having the financial resources and flexibility to be able to afford the higher cost of agency labor. Green construction practices (GCPs) are essential for the construction industry to achieve carbon neutral and sustainable development. However, the promotion of GCPs faces multifaceted challenges, particularly within the context of recent global uncertainties. The COVID-19 pandemic has wrought substantial disruption upon the construction sector, which makes it a good candidate as a case study for enhancing future risk management strategies. Currently, there is limited research on the factors influencing GCPs in the global uncertainty context. To bridge this research gap, this study first identifies 26 factors affecting GCPs in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic through a comprehensive literature review. Subsequently, based on feedback from 22 experts, Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) and Matrice d'Impacts Croisés Multiplication Appliquée à un Classement (MICMAC) methodologies are adopted to illustrate the intricate relationships among influencing factors and further classify their relative importance. The results underscore the pivotal role of factors such as technology development, the difficulty of construction, materials, and equipment performance, as well as identify 13 factors that have a fundamental impact. This research provides insights for decision-makers to enhance risk management strategies for GCPs in the global uncertainty context, prioritize the determinants, and facilitate the optimal allocation of resources to advance GCPs. Underwater methane (CH4) detection technology is of great significance to the leakage monitoring and location of marine natural gas transportation pipelines, the exploration of submarine hydrothermal activity, and the monitoring of submarine volcanic activity. In order to improve the safety of underwater CH4 detection mission, it is necessary to study the effect of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in leaking CH4 gas on sensor performance and harmful influence, so as to evaluate the health status and life prediction of underwater CH4 sensor arrays. In the process of detecting CH4, the accuracy decreases when H2S is found in the ocean water. In this study, we proposed an explainable sorted-sparse (ESS) transformer model for concentration interval detection under industrial conditions. The time complexity was decreased to O (n logn) using an explainable sorted-sparse block. Additionally, we proposed the Ocean X generative pre-trained transformer (GPT) model to achieve the online monitoring of the health of the sensors. The ESS transformer model was embedded in the Ocean X GPT model. When the program satisfied the special instructions, it would jump between models, and the online-monitoring question-answering session would be completed. The accuracy of the online monitoring of system health is equal to that of the ESS transformer model. This Ocean-X-generated model can provide a lot of expert information about sensor array failures and electronic noses by text and speech alone. This model had an accuracy of 0.99, which was superior to related models, including transformer encoder (0.98) and convolutional neural networks (CNN) + support vector machine (SVM) (0.97). The Ocean X GPT model for offline question-and-answer tasks had a high mean accuracy (0.99), which was superior to the related models, including long short-term memory–auto encoder (LSTM–AE) (0.96) and GPT decoder (0.98). Intuitionistic linguistic numbers (ILNs) describe expert evaluation information by representing semantic assessment values and reflecting the confidence level and hesitation of decision-makers. ILNs are widely used to handle uncertain and incomplete information. The Evaluation Based on Distance from Average Solution (EDAS) method selects the optimal solution based on the distance of each alternative from the average solution, making it suitable for multi-attribute decision-making with conflicting attributes. This study proposes a new scoring function for ILNs and develops an evaluation method combining ILNs with EDAS (IL-EDAS). Experts' evaluations of each alternative's indices are expressed using ILNs, and the EDAS method ranks the alternatives to select the optimal solution. We apply this method to assess innovation and entrepreneurship education capabilities in universities, and compare the results with those from other methods to verify their applicability and practicality. Aiming at the difficulty in effectively identifying critical quality features in the complex machining process, this paper proposes a critical quality feature recognition method based on a machining process network. Firstly, the machining process network model is constructed based on the complex network theory. The LeaderRank algorithm is used to identify the critical processes in the machining process. Secondly, the Entropy-CRITIC method is used to calculate the weight of the quality features of the critical processes, and the critical quality features of the critical processes are determined according to weight ranking results. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the method are verified by taking the medium-speed marine diesel engine coupling rod machining as an example. The results show that the method can still effectively identify the critical quality features in the case of small sample data and provide support for machining process optimization and quality control, thus improving product consistency, reliability, and machining efficiency. With advancements in computing technology and the rapid progress of data science, machine learning has been widely applied in various fields, showing great potential, especially in digital healthcare. In recent years, conversational diagnostic systems have been used to predict diseases through symptom checking. Early systems predicted the likelihood of a single disease by minimizing the number of questions asked. However, doctors typically perform differential diagnoses in real medical practice, considering multiple possible diseases to address diagnostic uncertainty. This requires systems to ask more critical questions to improve diagnostic accuracy. Nevertheless, such systems in acute medical situations need to process information quickly and accurately, but the complexity of differential diagnosis increases the system's computational cost. To improve the efficiency and accuracy of telemedicine diagnostic systems, this study developed an optimized algorithm for the Top-K algorithm. This algorithm dynamically adjusts the number of the most likely diseases and symptoms by real-time monitoring of case progress, optimizing the diagnostic process, enhancing accuracy (99.81%), and increasing the exclusion rate of severe pathologies. Additionally, the Top-K algorithm optimizes the diagnostic model through a policy network loss function, effectively reducing the number of symptoms and diseases processed and improving the system's response speed by 1.3–1.9 times compared to the state-of-the-art differential diagnosis systems. Hydrogen energy represents an ideal medium for energy storage. By integrating hydrogen power conversion, utilization, and storage technologies with distributed wind and photovoltaic power generation techniques, it is possible to achieve complementary utilization and synergistic operation of multiple energy sources in the form of microgrids. However, the diverse operational mechanisms, varying capacities, and distinct forms of distributed energy sources within hydrogen-coupled microgrids complicate their operational conditions, making fine-tuned scheduling management and economic operation challenging. In response, this paper proposes an energy management method for hydrogen-coupled microgrids based on the deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG). This method leverages predictive information on photovoltaic power generation, load power, and other factors to simulate energy management strategies for hydrogen-coupled microgrids using deep neural networks and obtains the optimal strategy through reinforcement learning, ultimately achieving optimized operation of hydrogen-coupled microgrids under complex conditions and uncertainties. The paper includes analysis using typical case studies and compares the optimization effects of the deep deterministic policy gradient and deep Q networks, validating the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method. Landslide hazard mapping is important to urban construction and landslide risk management. Dynamic landslide hazard mapping considers landslide deformation with changes in the environment. It can show more details of the landslide process state. Landslides in highly vegetated areas are difficult to observe directly, which makes landslide hazard mapping much more challenging. The application of multi-InSAR opens new ideas for dynamic landslide hazard mapping. Specifically, landslide susceptibility mapping reflects the spatial probability of landslides. For rainfall-induced landslides, the scale exceedance probability reflects the temporal probability. Based on the coupling of them, dynamic landslide hazard mapping further considers the landslide deformation intensity at different times. Zigui, a highly vegetation-covered area, was taken as the study area. The landslide displacement monitoring effect of different band SAR datasets (ALOS-2, Sentinel-1A) and different interpretation methods (D-InSAR, PS-InSAR, SBAS-InSAR) were studied to explore a combined application method. The deformation interpreted by SBAS-InSAR was taken as the main part, PS-InSAR data were used in towns and villages, and D-InSAR was used for the rest. Based on the preliminary evaluation and the displacement interpreted by fusion InSAR, the dynamic landslide hazard mappings of the study area from 2019 to 2021 were finished. Compared with the preliminary evaluation, the dynamic mapping approach was more focused and accurate in predicting the deformation of landslides. The false positives in very-high-hazard zones were reduced by 97.8%, 60.4%, and 89.3%. Dynamic landslide hazard mapping can summarize the development of and change in landslides very well, especially in highly vegetated areas. Based on the optimal information fusion mechanism of artificial intelligence, this article aims to examine the operation and management of dynamic supply chains within the framework of a community with a shared future for mankind. The core idea is to consider the common interests among enterprises, establish a global collaborative operation concept for upstream, midstream, and downstream enterprises, and achieve the goal of sustainable development. Firstly, a type of composite dynamic supply chain model is considered, in which the total inventory of each node in the supply chain is further subdivided into raw material inventory and finished product inventory. At the same time, we have considered factors such as the signing of procurement contracts between core enterprises and upstream enterprises, as well as the signing of supply contracts between core enterprises and downstream enterprises. Secondly, the static and dynamic monitoring information of the enterprise has been established. We use steady-state Kalman filtering theory to obtain dynamic reference signals for upstream enterprises, core enterprises, and downstream enterprises. Based on the optimal information fusion processing mechanism of artificial intelligence, the coefficient weighting method is used to obtain the optimal fusion signals of upstream enterprises, core enterprises, and downstream enterprises. Once again, through high-quality switching strategies, enterprises can achieve in-order switching, improve production efficiency, reduce downtime, enhance their competitiveness and responsiveness, and transform the dynamic supply chain, including order switching, into a discrete-time linear switching system for processing. Fourthly, sufficient conditions, robustness analysis results, and inventory control criteria for the solvability of dynamic supply chain H ∞ with order switching are provided. The rapid growth of e-commerce has led to an increase in the number of product returns in supply chains, which is both environmentally and economically challenging. E-commerce companies need to effectively manage product returns, as this has a direct impact on their reputation and consumer experience. Reducing returns is key to maintaining sustainable practices for online product sales. A significant increase in e-commerce transactions is also evident in Indonesia, which is the fourth largest country in the world. Despite the very large size of the market, research on e-commerce in the business-to-customer (B2C) market in Indonesia is underrepresented in the literature. The purpose of this paper is to identify key factors from the customer perspective that influence product returns in reverse logistics in Indonesian e-commerce. The novelty of this study stems from the focus on the customer perspective on product returns in the B2C market when shopping online and the spatial scope. Due to the uncertainty inherent in multi-criteria decision making, the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method was used to rank factors and potential solutions derived from a critical literature review. As a result, the study provides a ranking of factors and alternatives for managing e-commerce returns in Indonesia. The results show that among Indonesian e-commerce customers, product quality (QP) was rated the highest, while (Pu) was rated the lowest. This study focuses on the center-staged swirl model combustion chamber, conducting experiments and numerical simulations to investigate the unstable combustion characteristics of diffusion flames under different Reynolds numbers and air–fuel ratios. The results were analyzed using methods such as Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD), Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), and Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD). The research found that the first three intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) of the combustion chamber pressure fluctuation signal (DP) correspond to different physical fluctuation characteristics. Specifically, the 1st IMF represents the fluctuation characteristics of the heat release rate, corresponding to the flame shear region in the heat release rate field; the 2nd IMF represents the fluctuation characteristics of airflow swirl, corresponding to the swirl vortex structure region in the vorticity field; the 3rd IMF represents the flame detachment fluctuation characteristics, corresponding to the flame detachment region in the heat release rate field. This research aims to present a holistic view of sustainable investments on firm performance by exploring the dimensions of sustainable investments and firm performance concerning Indian private and publicly listed companies. Panel data regression has been used to explore the relationship between sustainable investment and firm performance. The data of 75 BSE-listed companies has been extracted from Prowess IQ from 2012–2022.Two panels based on different ownership structures were created to observe the impact of sustainable investment and firm performance. The findings of this study indicate that sustainable investments positively impact firm performance in private ownership but negatively impact the firm's performance in public ownership. The study provides an extensive and holistic view of sustainable investments in Indian companies listed in the BSE, which can be helpful for researchers, professionals, and policymakers in the field. The findings of this research contribute to the solutions to socio-economic challenges and support sustainable development goals through sustainable investments. The paper focused on the Xining marginal area, providing the concept of land use competitive advantage, employing the PLUS and PFCI model to simulate production–living–ecological (PLE) land in 2030, and revealing the relationship between regional land interactions and sustainable land allocation. The results indicate that the following: (1) By 2030, the land use of the Xining marginal area is primarily production and ecological land, with approximately 0.1% of living land; however, living and production land will increase while ecological land will decrease in general, and the growth momentum of urban and other living space in government-seated regions is stronger. (2) The PLE land does not exhibit a piecemeal expansion pattern, as it is influenced by mountains and rivers. Agricultural production land and grassland ecological land have advantages for development, whereas urban living land has just development potential. (3) Developing the corresponding lands in the dominant regions can result in sustainable land allocation, and five nexus approaches are proposed for the sustainable allocation of PLE land in the Xining marginal region. This study employs a robust quantitative ex post facto research design to investigate the complex relationship between audit fees and earnings management. The financial information of 164 firms admitted to the Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) was used from 2010 to 2019 (pre-COVID period) to achieve the research goal. Analysing data from the Tehran Stock Exchange firms, the study uncovers an inverted U-shaped relationship between audit fees and earnings management. This suggests that moderate audit fees can lead to higher earnings management. Water shortages are serious in northwest China due to the level of social and economic development, engineering, resource shortages, and other factors being restricted, so the conflict between supply and demand for water resources is prominent in different regions and different water use sectors. Therefore, Pingliang City was selected as the research object in this study. The membership function was introduced, and an interactive algorithm to correct model parameters based on the fairness constraint was derived. An uncertain multi-objective fuzzy programming model was also established. The results show that the optimal allocation of water will be 38,051.9~40,740 × 104 m3 and 39,938.4~41,317.5 × 104 m3 under a normal year (p = 50%) and a dry year (p = 75%) in 2025, respectively, and the corresponding water shortage rates will be 4.2% and 6.7%. In 2035, the optimal water allocation will be 45,644.1~49,245.9 × 104 m3 and 46,442.4~50,044.2 × 104 m3 and the water shortage rates will be 7.0% and 7.0%, respectively. The proportion of groundwater supply will decrease by 8.8% and 13.8% in 2025 and 2035 after the optimal allocation, the proportion of surface water supply will increase by 9.6% and 12.2%, and the proportion of reclaimed water will increase by −0.78% and 2.1%, respectively. This paper investigated how hiring one of the Big 4 auditing firms helps initial public offering (IPO) owners attract venture capitalists' (VCs) backing when going public to address the gap in auditing and venture capital literature. For this, the paper examined a large dataset from 1995 to 2019 consisting of 33,536 IPO firms from 22 countries with diverse socioeconomic, political, and cultural contexts. The study found that hiring Big 4 auditors increases IPO owners' chances of recruiting VCs by up to 50%. The analysis also supports prior findings, which state that IPO owners strategically choose Big 4 audit firms to lower agency costs and send quality signals to improve openness and disclosure as well as boost VCs' confidence in the IPO market. This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of studies on financial information/accounting manipulation. The dataset of research includes 1.266 studies from the Web of Science database for the period 1991–2023. All studies included in the research contain either the term 'financial information manipulation' or 'accounting manipulation' in the topic (title, abstract, or keywords). The bibliometric network mapping technique was used for the analysis of the data. The analysis was conducted utilizing the Biblioshiny interface of the R package programs Bibliometrix and Vosviewer. The results pointed out a notable upward trend in the publication and citation rates of financial information/accounting manipulation studies over the last two decades. Several key findings were identified. Firstly, a substantial rise in research output on financial information/accounting manipulation was observed, particularly after 2000, driven by global financial scandals. Secondly, prolific contributors to this field include authors such as Valaskova and Durana. Thirdly, the United States leads in research output, with significant contributions from institutions like the State University System of Florida and the State University System of Ohio. Lastly, The Accounting Review was identified as the most prolific journal in this domain, with the Journal of Accounting Economics being the most impactful based on citations. The most frequently used keywords indicate that the research topics focus on earnings management as a method of manipulation, fraudulent financial reporting, and the relationship with corporate governance. The comprehensiveness of the bibliometric data lends itself to a further examination of how financial information/accounting manipulation has progressed as a subject in the literature since the 2000s. Prior studies show that engaging in conservative financial reporting (CON) positively affects earnings quality. However, managers also manage earnings to meet/beat market earnings expectations (MBME). This study asks three questions regarding the earnings that MBME. First, it investigates whether managers are willing to sacrifice CON when adopting strategies to MBME. Second, it tests whether managers prefer to use other earnings management (EM) strategies to MBME instead of sacrificing CON. Third, it tests whether information asymmetry between managers and shareholders affects managers' decisions to sacrifice CON. Results show that managers are more likely to sacrifice CON to MBME but are less likely to do so if they can manage earnings using accrual-based or real EM. Also, managers are more likely to do so when information asymmetry with shareholders is higher. Portfolio management typically aims to achieve better returns per unit of risk by building efficient portfolios. The Markowitz framework is the classic approach used when decision-makers know the expected returns and covariance matrix of assets. However, the theory does not always apply when the time horizon of investments is short; the realized return and covariance of different assets are usually far from the expected values, and considering additional factors, such as diversification and information ambiguity, can lead to better portfolios. This study proposes models for constructing efficient portfolios using fuzzy parameters like entropy, return, variance, and entropy membership functions in multi-criteria optimization models. Our approach leverages aspects related to multi-criteria optimization and Shannon entropy to deal with diversification, and fuzzy and fuzzy entropy variants provide a better representation of the ambiguity of the information according to the investors' deadline. We compare 418 optimal portfolios for different objectives (return, variance, and entropy), using data from 2003 to 2023 of indexes from the USA, EU, China, and Japan. We use the Sharpe index as a decision variable, in addition to the multi-criteria decision analysis method TOPSIS. The precise tie-points (TPs) on synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images are a critical cornerstone in the global digital elevation model (DEM) and digital ortho map (DOM) production process. While there are abundant studies on SAR TPs matching, improvement opportunities persist in large areas. The correspondences have pixel-level errors during geocoding, which result in misalignment between global products. Consequently, this paper proposed a robust method for SAR images TPs matching, which consists of three key steps: (1) interest point extraction based on the dynamic Harris area entropy (DHAE) grid; (2) adaptive determination of template size; (3) normalized cross correlation (NCC) template matching. DHAE is a regional texture information grid based on the SAR-Harris map, and it is achieved through dynamic block division. Generating the DHAE grid over SAR images enables the extraction of interest points that have regional feature representation and distribution uniformity. A variable-size matching template is adaptively determined based on DHAE to enhance template quality while maintaining computational efficiency. Subsequently, the NCC algorithm is employed to find subpixel-precise correspondences. The proposed method is applied on TPs matching in 57 Terra-SAR images, which cover a large geographical area. Furthermore, the overlapping area is partitioned into five segments according to different coverage types. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms other template matching methods. For all coverage types, the proposed method exhibits high-precision sub-pixel results that reach up to 38.64% in terms of the relative positioning error (RPE), particularly in texture-weak and large areas. The Information Causality principle was proposed to re-derive the Tsirelson bound, an upper limit on the strength of quantum correlations, and has been suggested as a candidate law of nature. The principle states that the Shannon information about Alice's distant database gained by Bob after receiving an m bit message cannot exceed m bits, even when Alice and Bob share non-local resources. As originally formulated, it can be shown that the principle is violated exactly when the strength of the shared correlations exceeds the Tsirelson bound. However, we demonstrate here that when an alternative measure of information, one of the Renyi measures, is chosen, the Information Causality principle no longer arrives at the correct value for the Tsirelson bound. We argue that neither the assumption of particular 'intuitive' properties of uncertainties measures, nor pragmatic choices about how to optimise costs associated with communication, are sufficient to motivate uniquely the choice of the Shannon measure from amongst the more general Renyi measures. Traditional approaches to modular construction progress monitoring and quality control with stringent and tight tolerances for on-site and off-site assembly processes are usually based on 3D laser scanning, but the high equipment costs associated with acquiring point clouds have economic ramifications. This paper provides the details of a new and inexpensive method through the integration of AprilTags and an ordinary phone. By using AprilTags instead of QR codes to label modules, progress management is achieved through the rapid identification and association of multiple modules based on a single image. Moreover, a virtual multi-view vision algorithm based on AprilTags is proposed to generate 3D reverse models of the construction site; the quality result can be acquired by comparing the offset and rotation values of the reverse model and the BIM model. Finally, all the algorithms are validated through comparing the reverse models with the reference models made with 3D printing and 3D laser scanning, which verifies the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method. In this paper, the effect evaluation and production prediction of staged fracturing for horizontal wells in tight reservoirs are studied. Firstly, the basic characteristics and value of horizontal wells in tight reservoirs are introduced, their geological characteristics, flow mechanism and permeability model are analyzed and the application of grey theory in effect analysis is discussed. Considering the problems of staged fracturing effect evaluation and the production prediction of horizontal wells in tight reservoirs, a BP neural network model based on deep learning is proposed. Due to the interference of multiple physical parameters and the complex functional relationship in the development of tight reservoir fracturing, the traditional prediction method has low accuracy and it is difficult to establish an accurate mapping relationship. In this paper, a BP neural network is used to simulate multivariable nonlinear mapping by modifying the model, and its advantages in solving the coupling relationship of complex functions are brought into play. A neural network model with fracturing parameters as input and oil and gas production as output is designed. Through the training and testing of data sets, the accuracy and applicability of the proposed model for effect evaluation and yield prediction are verified. The research results show that the model can fit the complex mapping relationship between fracturing information and production and provide an effective evaluation and prediction tool for the development of the staged fracturing of horizontal wells in tight reservoirs. As transportation evolves with greater adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) energy trading stands out as an important innovation for managing energy resources more effectively as it reduces dependency on traditional energy infrastructures and, hence, alleviates the pressure on the power grid during peak demand times. Thus, this paper conducts a systematic review of the V2V energy trading frameworks. Through the included article analysis (n = 61), this paper discusses the state-of-the-art energy trading frameworks' structure, employed methodologies, encountered challenges, and potential directions for future research. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first review explicitly focused on V2V energy trading. We detail four critical challenges to face while establishing the framework in current research, providing an overview of various methodologies, including auctions, blockchain, game theory, optimisation, and demand forecasting, that are used to address these challenges and explore their integration within the research landscape. For the successful remediation of polluted sites, priority setting among the possible remediation technologies is of major importance. The related decisions are typically conditioned by a limited set of alternative remediation techniques and multiple, often contradicting criteria. These characteristics make the decision problem suitable for applying a formalised discrete multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA). This paper reports on the outcome of a systematic review of articles published between 1995 and 2020 encompassing 43 MCDA applications to support the selection of the remediation technique for polluted soils. It focuses on the comparison between implementations of the MCDA methodology. The review identifies four gaps where progress can be made to mobilise the full strength of the MCDA methodology to support the remediation of polluted soils: (i) early stakeholder engagement, (ii) inclusion of social criteria, (iii) an informed choice of the weighting and aggregation method, (iv) and sensitivity analysis. Confronted with China's burgeoning population and finite arable land resources, the enhancement of sustainable arable land efficiency is of paramount importance. This study, grounded in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), introduces a robust framework for assessing sustainable arable land use. Utilizing the Sustainable Utilization of Arable Land (SUA) indicator system, the DGA–Super-SBM model, the Malmquist–Luenberger production index, and the TO–Fisher–OSM algorithm, we evaluated the efficiency of sustainable utilization of arable land (ESUA) in 52 prefecture-level cities within China's major grain-producing regions of the Yellow and Huaihai Seas. We analyzed the cropland utilization patterns from 2010 to 2020, examining the influence of these patterns on sustainable utilization efficiency. Our findings indicate that between 2010 and 2020, the arable land usage in these regions exhibited minimal transformation, primarily shifting towards construction land and conversely from grassland and water systems. Notably, the ESUA of arable land demonstrated an upward trend, characterized by pronounced spatial clustering, enduring high efficiency in the northern regions, and a significant surge in the southern sectors. The declining ESUA (D-ESUA) trend was general but increased in half of the cities. The change in the center of gravity of ESUA correlated with the north–south movement of the proportion of cultivated land area, the turn-in rate, and the turn-out rate, yet moved in the opposite direction to that of cultivated land density and yield per unit area. Variables such as the replanting index, cropland density, yield per unit area, and cropland turn-in rate significantly affected ESUA. These findings offer a scientific basis and decision-making support for optimizing the utilization pattern of arable land and achieving a rational allocation of arable land resources. Intuitionistic fuzzy (IF) β -minimal description operators can deal with noise data in the IF covering-based rough set theory. That is to say, they can be used to find data that we need in IF environments. For an IF β -covering approximation space (i.e., an IF environment) with a high cardinality, it would be tedious and complicated to use IF set representations to calculate them. Therefore, it is necessary to find a quick method to obtain them. In this paper, we present the notion of IF β -maximal description based on the definition of IF β -minimal description, along with the concepts of IF granular matrix and IF reduction. Moreover, we propose matrix calculation methods for IF covering-based rough sets, such as IF β -minimal descriptions, IF β -maximal descriptions, and IF reductions. Firstly, the notion of an IF granular matrix is presented, which is used to calculate IF β -minimal description. Secondly, inspired by IF β -minimal description, we give the notion of IF β -maximal description. Furthermore, the matrix representations of IF β -maximal descriptions are presented. Next, two types of reductions for IF β -covering approximation spaces via IF β -minimal and fuzzy β -minimal descriptions are presented, along with their matrix representations. The K-modes-based algorithm is a popular algorithm for solving common issues in categorical data, from outlier and noise sensitivity to local optima, utilizing metaheuristic methods. Many studies have focused on increasing clustering performance, with new methods now outperforming the traditional K-modes algorithm. It is important to investigate this evolution to help scholars understand how the existing algorithms overcome the common issues of categorical data. Using a research-area-based bibliometric analysis, this study retrieved articles from the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection published between 2014 and 2023. This study presents a deep analysis of 64 articles to develop a new taxonomy of categorical data clustering algorithms. In this paper, an approach is proposed for assessing the performance of experts in the group from two perspectives: (1) individual consistencies and (2) deviations from the group decision. The quality of performance of the experts is based on combining the standard and rough analytic hierarchy process (AHP) with the technique for order of preference by similarity to the ideal solution (TOPSIS). The statistical method CRITIC is used to derive weights for the TOPSIS method before the experts are assessed based on demonstrated consistency and deviations from the group. Common performance indicators, such as consistency ratio, Euclidean distance, compatibility, and Spearman's correlation coefficient, are proposed for re-grouping experts before making the final decisions. A genetic algorithm enables the efficient solving of this complex clustering problem. Implementing the described approach and method can be useful in comparable assessment frameworks. A critical aspect is conducting a thorough pre-assessment of the competence of potential decision makers, often referred to as experts who may not consistently exhibit apparent expertise. The competence of decision makers (which does not have to be associated with compatibility) is evidenced by selected consistency parameters, and in a way, a pre-assessment of their competence follows Plato's 'government of the wise' principle. In the presented study, the compatibility of individuals in the group with the collective position (group decision) is measured by parameters related to their compatibility with the group solution and statistical deviation while ranking decision elements. The proposed multi-model-based approach stands out for its resilience in conducting thorough pre-assessment of the quality (competence) of potential decision makers, often regarded as experts who might not consistently display evident expertise. The wetland study area in Serbia is used as an example application, where seven measures for reducing the risk of drought were evaluated by twelve experts coming from different sectors and with different backgrounds and expertise.
