In traditional short-term hydropower scheduling problems, which usually determine the optimal power generation schedules within one week, the off-design zone of a hydraulic turbine is modeled as a forbidden zone due to the significantly increased risk of turbine damage when operating within this zone. However, it is still plausible to occasionally operate within this zone for short durations under real-world circumstances. With the integration of Variable Renewable Energy (VRE) into the power system, hydropower, as a dispatchable energy resource, operates complementarily with VRE to smooth overall power generation and enhance system performance. The rapid and frequent adjustments in output power make it inevitable for the hydraulic turbine to operate in the off-design zone. This paper introduces the operating zones associated with various production costs derived from fatigue analysis of the hydraulic turbine and calculated based on the turbine replacement cost. These costs are incorporated into a short-term hybrid scheduling tool based on Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP). Including production costs in the optimization problem shifts the turbine's working point from a high-cost zone to a low-cost zone. The resulting production schedule for a Hydro-Solar hybrid power system considers not only short-term economic factors such as day-ahead market prices and water value but also lifetime hydraulic turbine cost, leading to a more comprehensive calculation of the production plan. Hydropower as a flexible regulation resource is a rare choice to suppress the ever-increasing penetration of wind power in electrical power systems. The complementary characteristics and performance improvement of a hydro–wind hybrid power system based on a mathematical model of the hybrid power system is studied in this paper. This established model takes into account the stochastic variation in wind speeds in the wind power subsystem and the hydraulic–mechanical–electrical coupling characteristics of the hydropower subsystem. The complementary analysis is conducted based on the evaluation variables outputted by the established model, such as the wind power, hydro-regulation power, hydraulic power, and frequency. To make full use of the regulation capability of the hydropower system, the optimization of parameter settings is also carried out to improve complementary performances of the hybrid power system. The results from the complementary analysis show the detailed characteristics of hydro–wind coordinated operation under different types of real wind speeds. Here, 95% of installed hydro-capacity is used to complement the power shortage of the intermittent wind energy under the low wind speed. Alternatively, only around 66% of the installed hydro-capacity can be utilized to cope with the fluctuation in wind power under the medium and high wind speeds before the optimization of parameter settings. The recommended values and change rules of the control, hydraulic, and electrical parameters for the hydropower system are subsequently revealed from the analysis of parameter settings to contribute to a stable and safe hybrid power system. The results show that the optimized parameter can increase the maximal regulating capacity of the hydropower system by nearly 9 MW, approximately a sixth of the total installed hydropower capacity. Modern electrical power networks make extensive use of high voltage direct current transmission systems based on voltage source converters due to their advantages in terms of both cost and flexibility. Moreover, incorporating a direct current link adds more complexity to the optimal power flow computation. This paper presents a new meta-heuristic technique, named self-adaptive bonobo optimizer, which is an improved version of bonobo optimizer. It aims to solve the optimal power flow for alternating current power systems and hybrid systems AC/DC, to find the optimal location of the high voltage direct current line in the network, with a view to minimize the total generation costs and the total active power transmission losses. The self-adaptive bonobo optimizer was tested on the IEEE 30-bus system, and the large-scale Algerian 114-bus electric network. In this paper, a novel series hydraulic hybrid powertrain is proposed for a three-axis all-terrain vehicle. The engine drives two variable displacement pumps responsible for driving and steering, respectively. A variable displacement motor is connected to the ring gear of the planetary coupling mechanism to drive the vehicle and a fixed-displacement motor is connected to the sun gear to steer the vehicle. The active disturbance rejection control with feedforward control is employed to control the engine speed. The engine speed is controlled in a close-looped manner by adjusting the engine throttle. The controller parameters are decided by analyzing the influence of each parameter on the controller performance by means of the control variable method. The simulation results indicate that the proposed control strategy enables the vehicle to obtain better engine speed following and anti-disturbance performance. An all-terrain prototype is established and field tests are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the design and control strategy of the series hydraulic hybrid powertrain for the all-terrain vehicle. Advancements in the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions from ships are driving the development of more efficient onboard power systems. The proposed non-equivalent parallel running operation system is explored in this study, which improves the efficiency of the main power generation source compared with traditional equal load-sharing methods used in power management systems. However, the asymmetric method reduces the efficiency of the auxiliary power sources. To address this issue, we propose a control method that integrates a battery system with an efficiency-based algorithm to optimize the overall system performance. The proposed approach involves establishing operation command values based on the characteristics of the power generation source and adjusting these commands according to the battery's state of charge (SOC). MATLAB/Simulink simulations confirmed the effectiveness of this method across various operating modes and revealed no operational issues. When applied to a ship's operating profile over 222 h, the method reduced fuel consumption by approximately 2.98 tons (5.57%) compared with conventional systems. Over 38 annual voyages, this reduction equates to savings of 115.96 tons of fuel or approximately 96.47 million Korean won. This study demonstrates that integrating an optimal efficiency algorithm into the energy management system significantly enhances both the propulsion and overall energy efficiency of ships. This present article examines the frequency control of a dual-area interconnected hybrid power system that integrates conventional as well as non-conventional sources with additional support from electric vehicles. The complicated, non-linear behavior of the system adds to the grid's already high level of complexity. To navigate this complex environment, it becomes essential to develop a resilient controller. In this respect, a robust secondary controller is developed to handle the problem. The controller is developed while taking into account the intricate design of the contemporary power system. An extensive comparison between well-established controllers is presented to verify the efficacy of the proposed controller. An AI-based optimization technique, namely, COVID-19, is employed to obtain optimal values for different parameters of the controller. This work also investigates the effect of the FACTS device as a static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) on the dynamics of the system. Moreover, it also investigates the role of electric vehicles (EVs) and an SSSC on system stability. Further, the developed system is subjected to significant load variations and intermittent solar and wind disturbances to check the response of the optimal controller under dynamic conditions. The results demonstrate that the proposed controller reactions successfully handle system disturbances, highlighting the strength of the proposed controller design. To enhance the fuel efficiency of fuel cell hybrid electric vehicles (FCHEVs), we propose a hierarchical energy management strategy (HEMS) to efficiently allocate power to a hybrid system comprising a fuel cell and a battery. Firstly, the upper-layer supervisor employs a fuzzy fault-tolerant control and prediction strategy for the battery and fuel cell management system, ensuring vehicle stability and maintaining a healthy state of charge for both the battery and fuel cell, even during faults. Secondly, in the lower layer, dynamic programming and Pontryagin's minimum principle are utilized to distribute the necessary power between the fuel cell system and the battery. This layer also incorporates an optimized proportional-integral controller for precise tracking of vehicle subsystem set-points. Finally, we compare the economic and dynamic performance of the vehicle using HEMS with other strategies, such as the equivalent consumption minimization strategy and fuzzy logic control strategy. Simulation results demonstrate that HEMS reduces hydrogen consumption and enhances overall vehicle energy efficiency across all operating conditions, indicating superior economic performance. Conventional methods of parameterizing fuel cell hybrid power systems (FCHPS) often rely on engineering experience, which leads to problems such as increased economic costs and excessive weight of the system. These shortcomings limit the performance of FCHPS in real-world applications. To address these issues, this paper proposes a novel method for optimizing the parameter configuration of FCHPS. First, the power and energy requirements of the vehicle are determined through traction calculations, and a real-time energy management strategy is used to ensure efficient power distribution. On this basis, a multi-objective parameter configuration optimization model is developed, which comprehensively considers economic cost and system weight, and uses a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm to determine the optimal configuration of each power source. The optimization results show that the system economic cost is reduced by 8.76% and 18.05% and the weight is reduced by 11.47% and 9.13%, respectively, compared with the initial configuration. The widespread adoption of the power grid has led to increased attention to load frequency control (LFC) in power systems. The LFC strategy of multi-source hybrid power systems, including hydroelectric generators, Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs), and Photovoltaic Generators (PVGs), with thermal generators is more challenging. Existing methods for LFC tasks pose challenges in achieving satisfactory outcomes in hybrid power systems. In this paper, a novel method for the multi-source hybrid power system LFC task by using an optimal active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) strategy is proposed, which is based on the combination of the improved linear quadratic regulator (LQR) and the ADRC controller. Firstly, an established model of a hybrid power system is presented, which incorporates multiple regions and multiple sources. Secondly, utilizing the state space representation, a novel control strategy is developed by integrating improved LQR and ARDC. Finally, a series of comparative simulation experiments has been conducted using the Simulink model. Compared with the LQR with ESO, the maximum relative error of the maximum peaks of frequency deviation and tie-line exchanged power of the hybrid power system is reduced by 96% and 83%, respectively, by using the proposed strategy. Reactive power dispatch (RPD) in electric power systems, integrated with renewable energy sources, is gaining popularity among power engineers because of its vital importance in the planning, designing, and operation of advanced power systems. The goal of RPD is to upgrade the power system performance by minimizing the transmission line losses, enhancing voltage profiles, and reducing the total operating costs by tuning the decision variables such as transformer tap setting, generator's terminal voltages, and capacitor size. But the complex, non-linear, and dynamic characteristics of the power networks, as well as the presence of power demand uncertainties and non-stationary behavior of wind generation, pose a challenging problem that cannot be solved efficiently with traditional numerical techniques. In this study, a new fractional computing strategy, namely, fractional hybrid particle swarm optimization (FHPSO), is proposed to handle RPD issues in electric networks integrated with wind power plants (WPPs) while incorporating the power demand uncertainties. To improve the convergence characteristics of the Particle Swarm Optimization and Gravitational Search Algorithm (PSOGSA), the proposed FHPSO incorporates the concepts of Shannon entropy inside the mathematical model of traditional PSOGSA. Extensive experimentation validates FHPSO effectiveness by computing the best value of objective functions, namely, voltage deviation index and line loss minimization in standard power systems. The proposed FHPSO shows an improvement in percentage of 61.62%, 85.44%, 86.51%, 93.15%, 84.37%, 67.31%, 61.64%, 61.13%, 8.44%, and 1.899%, respectively, over ALC_PSO, FAHLCPSO, OGSA, ABC, SGA, CKHA, NGBWCA, KHA, PSOGSA, and FPSOGSA in case of traditional optimal reactive power dispatch(ORPD) for IEEE 30 bus system. Renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power, are increasingly contributing to electricity systems. Participants in the energy market need to understand the future electricity demand in order to plan their purchasing and selling strategies. To forecast the electricity demand, this study proposes a hybrid forecasting model. The method uses Kalman filtering to eliminate noise from the electricity demand series. After decomposing the electricity demand using an empirical model, a support vector machine optimized by a genetic algorithm is employed for prediction. The performance of the proposed forecasting model was evaluated using actual electricity demand data from the Australian energy market. The simulation results indicate that the proposed model has the best forecasting capability, with a mean absolute percentage error of 0.25%. Accuracy improved by 74% compared to the Support Vector Machine (SVM) electricity demand forecasting model, by 73% when compared to the SVM with empirical mode decomposition, and by 51% when compared to the SVM with Kalman filtering for noise reduction. Additionally, compared to existing forecasting methods, this study's accuracy surpasses LSTM by 63%, Transformer by 47%, and LSTM-Adaboost by 36%. The multi-degree-of-freedom characteristics of the planetary gear electronic continuously variable transmission (ECVT) configuration in series-parallel hybrid tractors impose more complex requirements for energy management strategies under variable load conditions. For a high-power hybrid tractor, this paper takes the hybrid tractor output-split (OS)-ECVT configuration as the research object and describes the principles of stepless transmission and power-splitting within the configuration. In order to improve the fuel economy of high-power hybrid tractors and the running status of power components, an energy management strategy focused on ploughing conditions based on the Bellman minimum dynamic programming (DP) algorithm is proposed in this paper. Second, equivalent fuel consumption is selected as the performance index for energy-saving control, and the solving principle of the energy management strategy based on the dynamic programming algorithm is established to facilitate the resolution process of the energy management strategy. Finally, the energy-saving control simulation is completed under ploughing conditions. The results show that compared with the energy management strategy based on the optimal operating line (OOL), the energy management strategy based on DP fully utilizes the benefits of low-cost electric energy and enables the hybrid power system to have a wider range of stepless transmission performance. In addition, the hybrid power system has the advantages of enhanced decoupling of speed and torque, higher efficiency, and more economical secondary energy conversion. As a result, the whole machine has enhanced power-split performance, greatly improving the running conditions of the power components. The equivalent fuel consumption values of the energy management strategies based on DP and OOL are about 3.1238 L and 4.2713 L, respectively. Nowadays, due to climate change and disappearance of fossil fuels, hybrid electric UAVs using renewable energy sources are being developed. In addition, although research on UAVs with a large wingspan and high weight is common due to their long endurance, research on mini UAVs has remained limited. This study aims to increase the energy capacity of solar-powered mini UAVs and thus extend their endurance by developing a fixed-wing hybrid UAV that can fly with solar energy as much as possible, especially during the cruise phase. In this study, a solar-powered mini VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) UAV with a wingspan of 1.8 m and weight of 3.3 kg is developed and a model of the system consisting of solar cells, a battery, a super capacitor, and a DC/DC converter is created in MATLAB/Simulink software (R2023b). Additionally, state machine control (SMC), a rule-based (RB) energy management strategy (EMS), has been applied to this model. While the power obtained from the sun is divided among the other energy components, the durability of the UAV is increased, and the excess energy is stored as altitude energy to be used when necessary. The integration of nonconventional energy sources such as solar, wind, and fuel cells into electrical power networks introduces significant challenges in maintaining frequency stability and consistent tie-line power flows. These fluctuations can adversely affect the quality and reliability of power supplied to consumers. This paper addresses this issue by proposing a Proportional–Integral–Derivative (PID) controller optimized through a hybrid Particle Swarm Optimization–Artificial Hummingbird Algorithm (PSO-AHA) approach. The PID controller is tuned using the Integral Time Absolute Error (ITAE) as a fitness function to enhance control performance. The PSO-AHA-PID controller's effectiveness is evaluated in two networks: a two-area thermal tie-line interconnected power system (IPS) and a one-area multi-source power network incorporating thermal, solar, wind, and fuel cell sources. Comparative analyses under various operational conditions, including parameter variations and load changes, demonstrate the superior performance of the PSO-AHA-PID controller over the conventional PSO-PID controller. Statistical results indicate that in the one-area multi-source network, the PSO-AHA-PID controller achieves a 76.6% reduction in overshoot, an 88.9% reduction in undershoot, and a 97.5% reduction in settling time compared to the PSO-PID controller. In the dual-area system, the PSO-AHA-PID controller reduces the overshoot by 75.2%, reduces the undershoot by 85.7%, and improves the fall time by 71.6%. The intermittent and stochastic characteristics of wind power pose a higher demand on the complementarity of hydropower. Studying the optimal coordinated operation of hydro–wind power systems has become an extremely effective way to create safe and efficient systems. This paper aims to study the optimal coordinated operation of a hybrid power system based on a newly established Simulink model. The analysis of the optimal coordinated operation undergoes two simulation steps, including the optimization of the complementary mode and the optimization of capacity allocation. The method of multiple complementary indicators is adopted to enable the optimization analysis. The results from the complementary analysis show that the hydraulic tracing effect obviously mitigates operational risks and reduces power losses under adverse wind speeds. The results from the analysis of capacity allocation also show that the marginal permeation of installed wind capacity will not exceed 250 MW for a 100 MW hydropower plant under random wind speeds. These simulation results are obtained based on the consideration of some real application scenarios, which help power plants to make the optimal operation plan with a high efficiency of wind energy and high hydro flexibility. A pipeline network is the most efficient and rapid way to transmit natural gas from source to destination. The smooth operation of natural gas pipeline control stations depends on electrical equipment such as data loggers, control systems, surveillance, and communication devices. Besides having a reliable and consistent power source, such control stations must also have cost-effective and intelligent monitoring and control systems. Distributed processes are monitored and controlled using supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) technology. This paper presents an Internet of Things (IoT)-based, open-source SCADA architecture designed to monitor a Hybrid Power System (HPS) at a remote natural gas pipeline control station, addressing the limitations of existing proprietary and non-configurable SCADA architectures. The proposed system comprises voltage and current sensors acting as Field Instrumentation Devices for required data collection, an ESP32-WROOM-32E microcontroller that functions as the Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) for processing sensor data, a Blynk IoT-based cloud server functioning as the Master Terminal Unit (MTU) for historical data storage and human–machine interactions (HMI), and a GSM SIM800L module and a local WiFi router for data communication between the RTU and MTU. Considering the remote locations of such control stations and the potential lack of 3G, 4G, or Wi-Fi networks, two configurations that use the GSM SIM800L and a local Wi-Fi router are proposed for hardware integration. The proposed system exhibited a low power consumption of 3.9 W and incurred an overall cost of 40.1 CAD, making it an extremely cost-effective solution for remote natural gas pipeline control stations. In order to enhance the efficiency, extend the service life, and minimize hydrogen consumption of the fuel cell hybrid power system (FCHPS), an adaptive power allocation method considering stack operation performance is proposed. The method utilizes the minimum instantaneous optimization of equivalent hydrogen consumption to achieve power distribution between fuel cells and lithium batteries. Additionally, a power adaptive allocation method is proposed to address performance inconsistencies in PEMFC systems, effectively reducing operating pressure for improved service life and overall system efficiency. Developing high-efficiency and low-carbon propulsion systems is a pressing concern within the aviation field. This paper studies a hybrid power system that combines a solid oxide fuel cell and a gas turbine (SOFC-GT) with propane as fuel, which is easy to store and has a high energy density. The analysis focuses on key parameters such as compressor pressure ratio, fuel utilization rate, and fuel distribution. And a balance between system efficiency and the power-to-weight ratio has been achieved through multi-objective optimization. The conclusions indicate that system efficiency and system weight in the hybrid power system are optimized in opposite directions. Within the design parameters, the hybrid power system's efficiency achieves 0.621, the specific fuel consumption is 115.2 g/kWh, and the power-to-weight ratio is 0.569 kW/kg. Further discussion on the application of this hybrid system in long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicles shows an efficiency of 0.651 during the cruise phase, indicating a promising application prospect of a propane-fueled SOFC-GT hybrid system in the aviation field. Environmental uncertainties present a significant challenge in the design of onboard photovoltaic hybrid power systems (PV-HPS), a pivotal decarbonization technology garnering widespread attention in the shipping industry. Neglecting environmental uncertainties associated with photovoltaic (PV) output and hull resistance can lead to suboptimal solutions. To address this issue, this paper proposes a stochastic optimization method for PV-HPS, aiming to minimize greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and lifecycle costs. Copula functions are employed to establish joint distributions of uncertainties in solar irradiance, ambient temperature, significant wave height, and wave period. Monte Carlo simulation, the bi-bin method, and the multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) algorithm are utilized for scenario generation, scenario reduction, and design space exploration. The efficacy of the proposed method is demonstrated through a case study involving an unmanned ship. Additionally, deterministic optimization and two partial stochastic optimizations are conducted to underscore the importance of simultaneously considering environmental uncertainties related to power sources and hull resistance. The results affirm the proposed approach's capability to reduce GHG emissions and lifecycle costs. This study proposes four kinds of hybrid source–grid–storage systems consisting of photovoltaic and wind energy, and a power grid including different batteries and hydrogen storage systems for Sanjiao town. HOMER-PRO was applied for the optimal design and techno-economic analysis of each case, aiming to explore reproducible energy supply solutions for China's industrial clusters. The results show that the proposed system is a fully feasible and reliable solution for industry-based towns, like Sanjiao, in their pursuit of carbon neutrality. In addition, the source-side price sensitivity analysis found that the hydrogen storage solution was cost-competitive only when the capital costs on the storage and source sides were reduced by about 70%. However, the hydrogen storage system had the lowest carbon emissions, about 14% lower than the battery ones. It was also found that power generation cost reduction had a more prominent effect on the whole system's NPC and LCOE reduction. This suggests that policy support needs to continue to push for generation-side innovation and scaling up, while research on different energy storage types should be encouraged to serve the needs of different source–grid–load–storage systems. This paper analyzes dynamic modeling for rural HPS to address GHG emissions' environmental impact on floods and climate change. The aim is to integrate renewable energy sources, such as solar energy, with traditional generators to mitigate emissions and enhance energy access in rural communities in Pakistan. The system is designed using a DC-DC converter, MPPT, LCL filter, and a DC-AC inverter. Utilizing software tools like PVsyst 7.4 and HOMER Pro-3.18.1, the study evaluates system sizing, energy consumption patterns, and optimization strategies tailored to site-specific data. The expected results include a reliable, environmentally friendly hybrid power system capable of providing consistent electricity to rural areas. The analysis of a connected load of 137.48 kWh/d and a peak load of 33.54 kW demonstrates the system's promise for reliable electricity with minimal environmental impact. The estimated capital cost of USD 102,310 and energy generation at USD 0.158 per unit underscores economic feasibility. Dynamic modeling and validation using HIL examine the system's behavior in response to variations in solar irradiance and temperature, offering insights into operational efficiency and reliability. In this paper, an intelligent stochastic model is recommended for the optimization of a hybrid system that encompasses wind energy sources, battery storage, combined heat and power generation, and thermal energy storage (Wind/Battery/CHP/TES), with the inclusion of electric and thermal storages through the cloud theory model. The framework aims to minimize the costs of planning, such as construction, maintenance, operation, and environmental pollution costs, to determine the best configuration of the resources and storage units to ensure efficient electricity and heat supply simultaneously. A novel meta-heuristic optimization algorithm named improved horse herd optimizer (IHHO) is applied to find the decision variables. Rosenbrock's direct rotational technique is applied to the conventional horse herd optimizer (HHO) to improve the algorithm's performance against premature convergence in the optimization due to the complexity of the problem, and its capability is evaluated with particle swarm optimization (PSO) and manta ray foraging optimization (MRFO) methods. Also, the cloud theory-based stochastic model is recommended for solving problems with uncertainties of system generation and demand. The obtained results are evaluated in three simulation scenarios including (1) Wind/Battery, (2) Wind/Battery/CHP, and (3) Wind/Battery/CHP/TES systems to implement the proposed methodology and evaluate its effectiveness. The results show that scenario 3 is the best configuration to meet electrical and thermal loads, with the lowest planning cost (12.98% less than scenario 1). Also, the superiority of the IHHO is proven with more accurate answers and higher convergence rates in contrast to the conventional HHO, PSO, and MRFO. Moreover, the results show that when considering the cloud theory-based stochastic model, the costs of annual planning are increased for scenarios 1 to 3 by 4.00%, 4.20%, and 3.96%, respectively, compared to the deterministic model. With the development of lithium-ion batteries and fuel cells, the application of hybrid power systems is becoming more and more widespread. To better optimize the energy management problem of fuel cell hybrid systems, the accuracy of system modeling and simulation is very important. The hybrid system is formed by connecting the battery to the fuel cell through an active topology. Digital twin technology is applicable to the mapping of physical entities to each other with high interactivity and fast optimization iterations. In this paper, a relevant model based on mathematical logic is established by collecting actual operational data; subsequently, the accuracy of the model is verified by combining relevant operating conditions and simulating the model. Subsequently, a three-dimensional visualization model of a hybrid power system-based sightseeing vehicle and its operating environment was established using digital twin technology to improve the model simulation of the fuel cell hybrid power system. At low speeds, the simulation results of the hybrid power system-based sightseeing vehicle have a small error compared with the actual running state, and the accuracy of the data related to each internal subcomponent is high. In the simple interaction between the model display vehicle and the environment, the communication state can meet the basic requirements of the digital twin model because the amount of data to be transferred is small. This study makes a preliminary attempt at digital parallelism by combining mathematical logic with visualization models and can be used as a basis for the subsequent development of more mature digital twin models. In the field of electrical engineering, there is an increasing concern among managers and operators about the secure and cost-efficient operation of smart power systems in response to disturbances caused by physical cyber attacks and natural disasters. This paper introduces an innovative framework for the hybrid, coordinated control of Unified Power Flow Controllers (UPFCs) and Power System Stabilizers (PSSs) within a power system. The primary objective of this framework is to enhance the system's security metrics, including stability and resilience, while also considering the operational costs associated with defending against cyber-physical attacks. The main novelty of this paper lies in the introduction of a real-time online framework that optimally coordinates a power system stabilizer, power oscillation damper, and unified power flow controller to enhance the power system's resilience against transient disturbances caused by cyber-physical attacks. The proposed approach considers technical performance indicators of power systems, such as voltage fluctuations and losses, in addition to economic objectives, when determining the optimal dynamic coordination of UPFCs and PSSs—aspects that have been neglected in previous modern research. To address the optimization problem, a novel multi-objective search algorithm inspired by Harris hawks, known as the Multi-Objective Harris Hawks (MOHH) algorithm, was developed. The integration of renewable energy is rapidly leading the existing grid systems toward modern hybrid power systems. These hybrid power systems are more complex due to the random and intermittent nature of RE and involve numerous operational challenges. This paper presents the operational model for solar integrated power systems to address the issues of economical operation, reliable solar share, energy deficit in case of contingency events, and the allocation of system spinning reserve. A mixed-integer optimization is formulated to minimize the overall cost of the system operation and to maximize the solar share under robust system spinning reserve limits as well as various other practical constraints. A Pareto-optimal solution for the maximization of the number of solar power plants and minimization of the solar cost is also presented for reliable solar share. Further, a decomposition framework is proposed to split the original problem into two sub-problems. The solution of joint optimization is obtained by exploiting a Lagrange relaxation method, a binary search Lambda iteration method, system spinning reserve analysis, and binary integer programming. In high-penetration renewable-energy grid systems, conventional virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control faces a number of challenges, especially the difficulty of maintaining synchronization during grid voltage drops. This difficulty may lead to current overloads and equipment disconnections, and it has an impact on the security and reliability of the system, as well as limiting the dynamic reactive power support capability of the system. To solve this problem, in this study, a wind–solar hybrid power generation system is designed with a battery energy storage device connected on the DC side, and proposes a low voltage ride-through (LVRT) control strategy for the grid-connected inverter based on an improved VSG. The control strategy employs an integrated current limiting technique combining virtual impedance and vector current limiting to ensure that the VSG exhibits good dynamic power support characteristics during symmetrical faults by adjusting the setpoint value of reactive power. At the same time, it maintains the synchronization and power angle stability of the VSG itself to achieve the goal of LVRT. Simulation results show that the proposed control strategy can effectively suppress the renewable power fluctuations (about 30% reduction in fluctuations compared to the conventional strategy) and ensure the safe and reliable operation of the renewable energy sources and VSGs during grid-side faults. In addition, it provides a given reactive power support and stable grid voltage control (voltage dips reduced by about 20%), which significantly enhances the LVRT capability of the hybrid wind–solar-storage generation system. To harness the strengths and mitigate the limitations of line-commutated converter (LCC) and modular multilevel converter (MMC) HVDC systems, the LCC-MMC hybrid HVDC system has been developed. This paper proposes a holomorphic embedding (HE)-based power flow calculation method for AC/DC power systems with the LCC-MMC hybrid HVDC system. Firstly, the methodology involves establishing the mathematical model of the LCC-MMC hybrid HVDC system and its control modes. Subsequently, the HE formulation for the constructed LCC-MMC model is derived using the HE method. The proposed method simplifies the HE formulation using substitute variables, making it adaptable to various control modes. The designed HE formulation facilitates the derivation of the germ solution and the calculation of high-order power series coefficients. A sequential solution flow chart compatible with AC power flow algorithms is constructed to enhance the practicality of the HE method for real-world large-scale systems. The accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed method are verified through numerical tests on the modified IEEE 14-bus, IEEE 57-bus, and large 2383-bus system. Human activities overwhelm our environment with CO2 and other global warming issues. The current electricity landscape necessitates a superior, continuous power supply and addressing such environmental concerns. These issues can be resolved by incorporating renewable energy sources (RESs) into the utility grid. Thus, this paper presents an optimized hybrid fuzzy logic self-tuning PID controller to control the automatic generation control (AGC) of various renewable sources. This controller regulates the frequency deviations of the power system and governs the change in the tie-line load of a multi-area hybrid energy system composed of wind, biomass, and photovoltaic energy sources. MATLAB Simulink software was applied to design and test the system. The PID controller has been tuned using four algorithms, namely, genetic algorithm (GA), pattern search (PS), simulated annealing (SA), and particle swarm optimization (PSO), and we compared the results with the proposed novel optimized PID controller (GA-fuzzy logic self-tuning technique) to validate it. The results show the superiority of the proposed hybrid GA-fuzzy logic self-tuning algorithm over the other algorithms in bringing the power system back to its regular operation. A large number of research stations have been established to provide members of Antarctic expeditions with logistical support. A previous study confirmed that the wind and solar energy resources of the Chinese Zhongshan Station, a coastal station located in an area of Lassmann Hills in East Antarctica, are highly synergetic and complementary. Considering the demand for a renewable energy power supply in Zhongshan Station, this paper introduces a hybrid energy system with wind–solar–diesel–battery co-generation used as a power supply scheme. Based on the 2015 climate data for Zhongshan Station, the wind–solar resources, conventional energy system, and annual diesel consumption of the station area were analyzed. The annual electrical load demand of each building in the station area was quantitatively expounded. Compared with the original power supply system, and combined with the analysis results of the thermal load and electrical load demands of the station, an objective function based on the requirements of economy, reliability, and environmental protection was presented. According to the constraint conditions of the heat energy and electrical energy load balance in the station area, a multi-objective scheduling strategy for the system was designed. Finally, the effects of this scheduling strategy were analyzed under three different application scenarios. The results indicated that the annual load demand was significantly lower than before the scheduling, and that a 50% reduction in diesel consumption could be achieved, demonstrating that the multi-objective scheduling strategy proposed in this paper could achieve optimal energy scheduling and management of the renewable hybrid energy system. This study presents a Two-Layer Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (TL-DDPG) energy management strategy for Hydrogen fuel cell hybrid train, that aims to solve the problem that traditional reinforcement learning strategies require high initial values and are difficult to optimize global variables. Augmenting the optimization capabilities of the inner layer, a frequency decoupling algorithm integrates into the outer layer, furnishing a fitting initial value for strategy optimization. This addition aims to bolster the stability of fuel cell output, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency of the hybrid power system. The most rapid and efficient method to transport natural gas from its source to its destination is through a pipeline network. The optimal functioning of control stations for natural gas pipelines depends on the use of electrical devices, including data loggers, communication devices, control systems, surveillance equipment, and more. Ensuring a reliable and consistent power supply proves to be challenging due to the remote locations of these control stations. This research article presents a case study detailing the design and dynamic modeling of a hybrid power system (HPS) to address the specific energy needs of a particular natural gas pipeline control station. The HOMER Pro 3.17.1 software is used to design an optimal HPS for the specified location. The designed system combines a photovoltaic (PV) system with natural gas generators as a backup to ensure a reliable and consistent power supply for the control station. Furthermore, it provides significant cost savings, reducing the cost of energy (COE) by USD 0.148 and the annual operating costs by USD 87,321, all while integrating a renewable energy fraction of 79.2%. This paper presents a comprehensive exploration of a hybrid energy system that integrates wind turbines with photovoltaics (PVs) to address the intermittent nature of electricity production from these sources. The necessity for such technology arises from the sporadic nature of electricity generated by PV cells and wind turbines. Featured Application: Repowering of existing vessels with hybrid power system for electricity production and storage with focus on reduced power requirement, increased efficiency, and eliminated greenhouse gas emissions are the applications. As marine traffic is contributing to pollution, and most vessels have predictable routes with repetitive load profiles, to reduce their impact on environment, hybrid systems with proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC-s) and battery pack are a promising replacement. For this purpose, the new approach takes into consideration an alternative to diesel propulsion with the additional benefit of carbon neutrality and increase of system efficiency. Additionally, in the developed numerical model, control of the PEMFC–battery hybrid energy system with balance of plant is incorporated with repowering existing vessels that have two diesel engines with 300 kWe. The goal of this paper is to develop a numerical model that analyzes and determines an equivalent hybrid ship propulsion system for a known traveling route. The developed numerical model consists of an interconnected system with the PEMFC stack and a battery pack as power sources. The numerical model was developed and optimized to meet the minimal required power demand for a successful route, which has variable loads and sees ships sail daily six times along the same route—in total 54 nautical miles. The results showed that the equivalent hybrid power system consists of a 300 kWe PEMFC stack and battery pack with 424 kWh battery and state of charge varying between 20 and 87%. To power this new hybrid power system, a hydrogen tank of 7200 L holding 284.7 kg at pressure of 700 bar is required, compared to previous system that consumed 1524 kg of diesel and generated 4886 kg of CO2. In response to the challenges posed by the low energy utilization of single-power pure electric vehicles and the limited lifespan of power batteries, this study focuses on the development of a compound power system. This study constructs a composite power system, analyzes the coupling characteristics of multiple systems, and investigates the energy management and optimal control mechanisms. Firstly, a power transmission scheme is designed for a hybrid electric vehicle. Then, a multi-state model is established to assess the electric vehicle's performance under complex working conditions and explore how these conditions impact system coupling. Next, load power is redistributed using the Haar wavelet theory. The super capacitor is employed to stabilize chaotic and transient components in the required power, with low-frequency components serving as input variables for the controller. Further, power distribution is determined through the application of fuzzy logic theory. Input parameters include the system's power requirements, power battery status, and super capacitor state of charge. The result is the output of a composite power supply distribution factor. To fully exploit the composite power supply's potential and optimize the overall system performance, a global optimization control strategy using the dynamic programming algorithm is explored. The optimization objective is to minimize power loss within the composite power system, and the optimal control is calculated through interpolation using the interp function. Finally, a comparative simulation experiment is conducted under UDDS cycle conditions. The results show that the composite power system improved the battery discharge efficiency and reduced the number of discharge cycles and discharge current of the power battery. Under the cyclic working condition of 1369 s, the state of charge of the power battery in the hybrid power system decreases from 0.9 to 0.69, representing a 12.5% increase compared to the single power system. The peak current of the power battery in the hybrid power system decreases by approximately 20 A compared with that in the single power system. Based on dynamic programming optimization, the state of charge of the power battery decreases from 0.9 to 0.724. Compared with that of the single power system, the power consumption of the proposed system increases by 25%, that of the hybrid power fuzzy control system increases by 14.2%, and that of the vehicle decreases by 14.7% after dynamic programming optimization. The multimode energy shunt relationship is solved through efficient and reasonable energy management and optimization strategies. Microgrids are local energy production and distribution networks that can operate independently when disconnected from the main power grid thanks to the integration of power generation systems, energy storage units and intelligent control systems. However, despite their advantages, the optimal energy management of real microgrids remains a subject that requires further investigation. Specifically, an effective management of microgrids requires managing a large number of electrical variables related to the power generated by the microgrid's power supplies, the power consumed by the loads and the aspects of power quality. This study analyzes how we can monitor different variables, such as the active power, reactive power, power factor, total harmonic distortion and frequency in the loads of a microgrid, using high-precision power meters. Our empirical study, conducted using a functional microgrid comprising a hybrid wind–solar power system and several household appliances, demonstrates the feasibility of using low-cost and high-performance power meters with IoT functionality to collect valuable power quality and energy consumption data that can be used to control the microgrid operation. In a high proportion of wind–photovoltaic–hydro hybrid power systems, fluctuation and dispersion make it difficult to accurately quantify the output characteristics. Therefore, in this study, a cloud model and copula correlation coefficient matrix were constructed for a hybrid power generation system based on the output data. Multiple backward cloud transformation based on the sampling-with-replacement method was proposed to calculate the improved entropy and hyperentropy to analyze the fluctuation range and dispersion degree quantitatively. A similarity index was proposed to evaluate the similarity between wind power, PV power, and hydropower. A suitable copula function was selected, and the Kendall and Spearman coefficients show the correlation relationships of the hybrid systems. The temporal and spatial characteristics of the hybrid systems were analyzed based on the two models. A typical example in Qinghai proved the effectiveness and applicability of the method. The aim of this paper is to propose an enhancement to the primary frequency control (PFC) of the San Cristobal Island hybrid wind–diesel power system (WDPS). Naturally, variable speed wind turbines (VSWT) provide negligible inertia. Therefore, various control strategies, i.e., modified synthetic inertial control, droop control and traditional inertial control, if introduced into VSWT, enable them to release hidden inertia. Based on these strategies, a WDPS has been simulated under seven different control strategies, to evaluate the power system performance for frequency regulation (FR). Furthermore, the student psychology-based algorithm (SBPA) methodology is used to optimize the WDPS control. The results show that modified synthetic inertial control is the most suitable approach to provide FR. However, further exhaustive research validates that droop control is a better alternative than modified synthetic inertial control due to the negligible system performance differences. In addition, droop control does not require a frequency derivative function in the control system. Therefore, the hybrid system is more robust. Moreover, it reduces the steady state error, which makes the power system more stable. In addition, a pitch compensation control is introduced in blade pitch angle control (BPAC) to enhance the pitch angle smoothness and to help the power system to return to normal after perturbations. Moreover, to justify the performance of hybrid WDPS, it is tested under certain real-world contingency events, i.e., loss of a wind generator, increased wind speed, fluctuating wind speed, and simultaneously fluctuating load demand and wind speed. This paper presents the techno-economic feasibility of using grid-connected PV hybrid systems to supply power in large grid-dependent academic institutions. The study was conducted using the administration building of Moi University in Kenya. The power consumption profile of the building was collected using a PCE-360 power analyzer. The peak load demand was found to be 60 kW. Using random variability constants of 4% for day-to-day and 4% time-step load variability, a peak demand of 70.58 kW was obtained, which was used in our simulation. The solar radiation and temperature data for this site were collected from the weather station of the university. The hybrid system was simulated using HOMER Pro software. It was found from the simulation results that the optimal system was the solar PV/grid without battery storage, which had a levelized cost of energy (LCOE) of KSH 8.78/kWh (USD 0.072), net present cost (NPC) of KSH 27,974,492 (USD 230,813), capital expenditure (CAPEX) of KSH 26,300,000 (USD 216,997), and a simple payback period (SPBP) of 5.08 years for a 25-year life span. This system, when compared to the existing grid, showed an 83.94% reduction in the annual electricity bill of the administration building. Reduction or elimination of reliance on traditional fossil fuels and of the emission of greenhouse gases and pollutants into the environment are affecting energy technologies, systems, and applications. In this context, one potential approach to achieving sustainability, decarbonization, and ensuring the energy and economic viability of existing and future energy systems involves adopting one or more renewable sources. The presented paper concentrates on examining the performance of a small-scale hybrid renewable polygeneration system. This system utilizes biogas produced through anaerobic digestion, which is then supplied to an internal combustion engine, along with solar energy converted into electrical energy by photovoltaic modules and wind energy harnessed through a wind turbine. A small-scale user, represented by residential buildings and a zootechnical farm with heating, cooling, and electrical energy demands, serves as the case study. TRNSYS software is employed to design and model the system, considering realistic assumptions about technical aspects and user energy requirements. The investigation involves analyzing the system's operation, considering both energy and economic perspectives. The paper discusses the pros and cons of combining biogas, solar, and wind energy in the proposed hybrid system under the considered case study. Aiming to solve the problems of insufficient dynamic responses, the large loss of energy storage life of a single power cell, and the large fluctuation in DC (direct current) bus voltage in fuel cell vessels, this study takes a certain type of fuel cell ferry as the research object and proposes an improved equivalent minimum hydrogen consumption energy management strategy, based on fuzzy logic control. First, a hybrid power system including a fuel cell, a lithium–iron–phosphate battery, and a supercapacitor is proposed, with the simulation of the power system of the modified mother ship. Second, a power system simulation model and a double-closed-loop PI (proportion integration) control model are established in MATLAB/Simulink to design the equivalent hydrogen consumption model and fuzzy logic control strategy. The simulation results show that, under the premise of meeting the load requirements, the control strategy designed in this paper improves the Li-ion battery's power, the Li-ion battery's SOC (state of charge), the bus voltage stability, and the equivalent hydrogen consumption significantly, compared with those before optimization, which improves the stability and economy of the power system and has certain practical engineering value. In recent years, more and more attention has been paid to fuel cell-based hybrid tractors. In order to optimize the global power distribution of tractors and further improve the fuel economy and fuel cell durability of the system, this paper designs an energy management strategy to maximize external energy efficiency based on fuel cell/lithium battery/supercapacitor hybrid tractors. This strategy aims to reduce the real-time hydrogen consumption of the system while maximizing the external energy output so as to reduce the impact of load randomness on the output power of the fuel cell. Under the typical ploughing conditions of the tractor, the simulation is compared with the state machine strategy and the equivalent hydrogen consumption minimization strategy. The results show that the proposed strategy meets the power requirements of a given ploughing condition, and compared with the two traditional strategy systems, the performance characteristics of auxiliary energy are more fully exerted. It reduces the burden on fuel cells and improves the durability of fuel cells. The problems associated with the greenhouse effect have increased the desire to limit carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions into the atmosphere, including emissions produced by shipboard electrical power systems. This has led to a further search for solutions in this area, such as shipboard hybrid electric power systems (SHEPSs). These systems do not yet have a wide application compared with traditional shipboard electrical power systems for several reasons, including the lack of studies establishing the fault tolerance of such systems. Therefore, in this work, problems related to generated power quality deterioration under large disturbances are studied. To achieve the fault-free operation of SHEPS, an emergency prevention control (EPC) system based on controlled parameter forecasting, along with a system structure and operation algorithm, is developed. The goals of improving electrical power quality are achieved by increasing the control efficiency of the power system's generating sources. To validate the feasibility of the proposed control system, a computer simulation was carried out after developing a mathematical model of the SHEPS under study. The results of the study show that the use of the proposed EPC system will improve power quality when the controlled parameters are within acceptable limits. Taiwan's power system operates as an isolated grid, preventing the export of surplus energy. Excess electricity is either stored or discarded (curtailed). This study aims to estimate the energy storage requirement for the day with the most extreme electricity consumption behavior in a year without energy curtailment. Based on the installed capacity and actual power generation of renewable energy sources in 2022, this research estimates the power generation per GW of the installed capacity at full load. Integrating the government's annual installation capacity plans, this study forecasts the annual power generation of renewable sources. Using the electrical load during the 2023 Spring Festival as a baseline and assuming an annual electricity consumption growth rate of 2%, combined with a minimum gas power output of approximately 6 GW, this study calculates the unused power generation, which represents the pumped-storage hydroelectricity and battery energy storage systems requirements for that day under a no-curtailment scenario. Considering the semi-annual adjustments in installation planning, this study's code is open-sourced and designed to provide updated results with new planning data input, facilitating ongoing adjustments. Aiming at the problems of large power fluctuations and poor stability in photovoltaic and other new energy power generation systems, a step-up multiport converter (MPC) that can simultaneously connect low-voltage photovoltaic cells, batteries, and loads (independent loads or power grids) is proposed in this manuscript. According to the possible operating conditions of the system, the working principles are described in detail. Theoretical analysis based on different working modes is presented and a hybrid modulation control method including pulse width modulation (PWM) and phase shift modulation (PSM) are applied to realize energy transmission between photovoltaics, batteries, and power grids. A simulation model is built in the PSIM environment to validate each working state of the system and mode switching function. Experiments are carried out on an experimental platform using the dsPIC33FJ64GS606 digital microcontroller as the control center, and the experimental results successfully verify the system function and PWM + PSM control efficiency. Aiming to mitigate the impact of power fluctuation caused by large-scale renewable energy integration, coupled with a high rate of wind and solar power abandonment, the multi-objective optimal dispatching of a cascade hydro–wind–solar–thermal hybrid generation system with pumped storage hydropower (PSH) is proposed in this paper. Based on the proposed system, the scheduling operation strategy takes into account the complex restrictions of cascade hydropower as well as the flexibility of the PSH. According to various scenarios, the NSGA-II approach is adopted to address the optimization problem, minimizing the system's residual load variation and operation cost. The Pareto solution sets are contrasted and evaluated, applying the TOPSIS with CRITIC weighting. Additionally, the scheduling output of thermal power, cascade hydropower, and PSH is given in terms of different scenarios. The results demonstrate that the allocation of PSH to a hybrid energy system can significantly reduce the operation cost and the fluctuation in the residual load. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper proposes extended-window algorithms for model prediction and applies them to optimize hybrid power systems. We consider a hybrid power system comprising solar panels, batteries, a fuel cell, and a chemical hydrogen generation system. The proposed algorithms enable the periodic updating of prediction models and corresponding changes in system parts and power management based on the accumulated data. We first develop a hybrid power model to evaluate system responses under different conditions. We then build prediction models using five artificial intelligence algorithms. Among them, the light gradient boosting machine and extreme gradient boosting methods achieve the highest accuracies for predicting solar radiation and load responses, respectively. Therefore, we apply these two models to forecast solar and load responses. Third, we introduce extended-window algorithms and investigate the effects of window sizes and replacement costs on system performance. The results show that the optimal window size is one week, and the system cost is 13.57% lower than the cost of the system that does not use the extended-window algorithms. The proposed method also tends to make fewer component replacements when the replacement cost increases. Finally, we design experiments to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of systems using extended-window model prediction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper considers an uplink wireless powered multichannel internet of things (MC-IoT) system with multiple hybrid relays, each serves a group of wireless-powered IoTDs. For coordinating radio frequency wireless power transfer (RF-WPT) and wireless information transfer (WIT), two cooperative protocols integrating non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and orthogonal multiple access (OMA), namely hybrid NOMA-frequency division multiple access (FDMA) and hybrid NOMA-time division multiple access (TDMA), is proposed. For both protocols, we investigate cooperative resource allocation problems and aim to maximize the sum data delivered by all the IoTDs, subject to the peak transmit power constraint and the total consumable energy constraint of the hybrid relays. The problem with the hybrid NOMA-FDMA is first decomposed into two subproblems, one for time and power allocation of each hybrid relay and its associated IoTDs, and the other one for channel allocation among them. After some properties of the optimal solution are discovered and a series of transformations is performed, the former subproblem is solved by the bisection search and the Lagrange duality method, and the latter subproblem is solved by the Kuhn–Munkres algorithm. The problem with the hybrid NOMA-TDMA is first convexified by proper variable transformations and then solved by the Lagrange duality method. We provide extensive simulations to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed schemes. It is shown that various system parameters play key roles in the performance comparison of the two schemes. This paper proposes a high-efficiency and compact fuel cell–battery hybrid power system without DC/DC converters. Generally, fuel cells supply power to charge lithium batteries or loads using DC/DC converters. The disadvantages of a DC/DC converter are its complex design, poor efficiency, and large volume. Therefore, improvements in the volume, weight, and efficiency are the main objectives of the proposed topology, which is suitable for stable operation in power equipment. This paper proposes a novel topology without DC/DC converters for a fuel cell–battery hybrid forklift system and analyzes, discusses, and verifies it with experimental measurements. Additionally, the proposed topology uses an average charging method to charge the Li-ion battery. The dynamic response of fuel cells is slower than that of Li-ion batteries. By properly configuring the voltages of a fuel cell and a lithium battery, we propose a hybrid system that can maintain a stable output and high efficiency in different operating modes without DC/DC converters. Detailed efficiency calculations and comparisons reveal that the method proposed in this paper achieves an efficiency increase of 5.36% compared with traditional approaches, while maintaining a set charging current. The proposed topology and charging method are verified with experiments on a 10 kW fuel cell–battery system, and the results indicate that the proposed method without DC/DC converters is more suitable for hybrid applications than traditional methods. The proposed system achieves optimal efficiency of 98.27%, surpassing the performance of a traditional hybrid system employing regulated DC/DC converters. Additionally, the system incorporates a mechanism to achieve constant current control, ensuring precise control over the desired charging current. This work focuses on the design of a hybrid proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) solution for any micro vehicle such as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). A hydrogen fuel cell can provide extended operation, low emissions, and a highly efficient form of energy storage compared with alternative methods, while a battery can be used as an additional energy storage system to support the transient and higher loads required by the UAV, which are not suitable for normal fuel cell operation. The choice of hydrogen storage is one of the main challenges in using hydrogen as an energy carrier. The current study discusses a range of hydrogen storage technologies and provides a methodology for selection for a given application. A sizing design methodology for a hybrid fuel cell system is proposed. Then, it is applied to a case study to demonstrate its implementation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
