It is important to explore the hot deformation behavior and establish the hot processing map of steel to design and optimize the hot rolling process. In this paper, 50CrVA spring steel was used as the experimental material. Single-pass compression tests were performed at 850–1150 °C and 0.01–5 s−1 on an MMS-300 thermo-mechanical simulation testing machine to investigate the hot deformation behavior and establish the hot processing map. The results show that as the strain rate increases and the deformation temperature decreases, the flow stress of 50CrVA spring steel increases. The constitutive equation of 50CrVA spring steel is ε ˙ = 1.01 × 10 14 [ sinh (0.0094 σ p) ] 4.53 exp (− 364 , 470 R T ) . The dynamic recrystallization critical strain model is ε c = 4.19 × 10 − 3 Z 7.31 × 10 − 2 . The present study prepared 7075Al composites reinforced with vapor-phase-grown carbon nanofibers (VGCNFs) using the spark plasma sintering (SPS) method. Constitutive equations of the composites were calculated, and thermal processing maps were constructed by performing thermal compression tests on the VGCNF/7075Al composites at deformation temperatures ranging from 300 to 450 °C and strain rates from 0.01 to 1 s−1. This study analyzed the microstructural evolution of the VGCNF/7075Al composites during the thermomechanical processing. The experimental results demonstrated that dynamic recrystallization (DRX) primarily governed the softening mechanism of VGCNF/7075Al composites during thermomechanical processing. At high strain rates, a combination of dynamic recovery (DRV) and DRX contributed to the softening behavior. The incorporation of VGCNFs results in higher dislocation density and a larger orientation deviation within the 7075Al matrix during the thermomechanical deformation process, providing stored energy that facilitated DRX. The activation energy for deformation of VGCNF/7075Al composites was 175.98 kJ/mol. The constitutive equation of the flow stress showed that a hyperbolic sinusoidal form could effectively describe the relationship between flow stress, strain, strain rate, and temperature of VGCNF/7075Al composites. The optimal thermomechanical deformation parameters for VGCNF/7075Al composites were 400–450 °C and 0.01–0.1 s−1 when the strain ranged from 0.05 to 0.15. The Laasraoui segmented and Arrhenius flow stress model, dynamic recrystallization (DRX) model, grain size prediction model, and hot processing map (HPM) of Fe-Cr-Mo-Mn steels were established through isothermal compression tests. The models and HPM were proven by experiment to be highly accurate. As the deformation temperature decreased or the strain rate increased, the flow stress increased and the grain size of the Fe-Cr-Mo-Mn steel decreased, while the volume fraction of DRX (Xdrx) decreased. The optimal range of the hot processing was determined to be 1050–1200 °C/0.369–1 s−1. Zigzag-like grain boundaries (GBs) and intergranular cracks were found in the unstable region, in which the disordered martensitic structure was observed. The orderly packet martensite was formed in the general processing region, and the mixed structure with incomplete DRX grains was composed of coarse and fine grains. The microstructure in the optimum processing region was composed of DRX grains and the multistage martensite. The deteriorated plasticity arising from the insoluble precipitates may lead to cracks during the rolling of FeCrAl alloys. The microstructure evolution and hot deformation behavior of an FeCrAl alloy were investigated in the temperature range of 750–1200 °C and strain rate range of 0.01–10 s−1. The flow stress of the FeCrAl alloy decreased with an increasing deformation temperature and decreased strain rate during hot working. The thermal deformation activation energy was determined to be 329.49 kJ/mol based on the compression test. Then, the optimal hot working range was given based on the established hot processing maps. The hot processing map revealed four small instability zones. The optimal working range for the material was identified as follows: at a true strain of 0.69, the deformation temperature should be 1050–1200 °C, and the strain rate should be 0.01–0.4 s−1. The observation of key samples of thermally simulated compression showed that discontinuous dynamic recrystallization started to occur with the temperate above 1000 °C, leading to bended grain boundaries. The CoCrNi-based medium-entropy alloys (MEA) have been extensively investigated due to their exceptional mechanical properties at both room and cryogenic temperatures. To investigate the hot deformation behavior and the recrystallization mechanism of the CoCr0.4NiSi0.3 medium-entropy alloy, a series of deformation tests was conducted using the MMS-100 thermal simulation tester, with deformation conditions of 0.001–1 s−1/850–1150 °C. During the hot deformation process, the flow stress initially increases up to its peak value before gradually decreasing towards a steady state level. Higher flow stress levels are observed with increasing strain rate and decreasing deformation temperature. The estimated activation energy for hot deformation of this alloy is approximately 423.6602 kJ/mol. The Arrhenius-type constitutive equation is utilized to establish a modified model while incorporating power dissipation theory and the instability criterion of a dynamic material model to construct power dissipation maps and instability maps. By superimposing these maps, hot processing maps with strains of 0.4, 0.5, and 0.7 are derived. In this investigation, it is observed that regions of instability exclusively occur when the true strain exceeds 0.4. These regions of instability on the hot processing map align well with experimental findings. The suitable range of parameters for hot-working decreases as the true strain increases. The microstructure was analyzed using electron backscatter diffraction and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques. The volume fraction of dynamic recrystallization (DRX) decreases with increasing strain rate but diminishes with rising temperature. The TEM characterization elucidated the mechanism of DRX in this MEA. The presence of the long-period stacking ordered (LPSO) phase was observed in both the face-centered cubic matrix and hexagonal close-packed recrystallized grains under different deformation conditions. The LPSO phase originates from the matrix at a low strain rate, whereas it is generated during recrystallization at a high strain rate. The observed increase in flow stress of the as-cast MEA is primarily attributed to the synergistic effects arising from the interaction of the dislocation with twins and the second phase. The onset of instability is effectively suppressed within a limited range through the formation of coherent second phases such as L12, LPSO, and superlattice structures resulting from phase transitions. These second phases serve as nucleation sites for recrystallization and contribute to the strengthening of dispersion. Furthermore, their interaction with dislocations and twins significantly influences both flow stress behavior and recrystallization kinetics under hot deformation. These findings not only deepen our understanding of the underlying deformation mechanisms governing MEA but also offer valuable insights for designing CoCrNi-based alloys with improved mechanical properties at elevated temperatures. The hot deformation behavior and flow stress characteristics of experimental 26CrMo7S steel were analyzed using a thermal simulator under a range of conditions, including a strain rate range of 0.01~10 s−1, a temperature range of 850~1250 °C, and a maximum deformation amount of 70%. The Arrhenius constitutive model was built for the corresponding conditions, and the model's accuracy was verified through error analysis. Additionally, hot processing maps were constructed to analyze the processing zone of the steel under different hot deformation conditions. Finally, the microstructure of the processing zones was observed and verified using the electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD). The results indicate that the interaction of work hardening and dynamic softening influences the hot deformation behavior of 26CrMo7S steel. The Arrhenius constitutive equation with a value of the correlation coefficient (r = 0.99523) accurately predicts the flow behavior of 26CrMo7S steel under different strains. The optimal processing zone obtained with the hot processing maps is within a deformation range of 1010~1190 °C and a strain rate range of 0.01~10−1.5 s−1, and the obtained microstructure is in good agreement with the analysis results. The hot deformation behavior and dynamic softening mechanism of 7B50 aluminum alloy were studied via isothermal compression experiments in the range of 320–460 °C/0.001–1.0 s−1. According to the flow curves obtained from the experiments, the flow behavior of this alloy was analyzed, and the Zener–Hollomon (Z) parameter equation was established. The hot processing maps of this alloy were developed based on the dynamic material model, and the optimal hot working region was determined to be 410–460 °C/0.01–0.001 s−1. The electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) microstructure analysis of the deformed sample shows that the dynamic softening mechanism and microstructure evolution strongly depend on the Z parameter. Meanwhile, a correlation between the dynamic softening mechanism and the lnZ value was established. Dynamic recovery (DRV) was the only softening mechanism during isothermal compression with lnZ ≥ 20. Discontinuous dynamic recrystallization (DDRX) becomes the dominant dynamic recrystallization (DRX) mechanism under deformation conditions of 15 < lnZ < 20. Meanwhile, the size and percentage of DDRXed grains increased with decreasing lnZ values. To identify the optimal deformation parameters for 316LN austenitic stainless steel, it is necessary to study the macroscopic deformation and the microstructural evolution behavior simultaneously in order to ascertain the relationship between the two. Isothermal uniaxial compression tests of 316LN were conducted over the temperature range of 950-1150 C and for the strain rate range of 0.001-10 s-1 using a Gleeble-1500 thermal-mechanical simulator. The microstructural evolution during deformation processes was investigated by studying the constitutive law and dynamic recrystallization behaviors. Dynamic recrystallization volume fraction was introduced to reveal the power dissipation during the microstructural evolution. Processing maps were developed based on the effects of various temperatures, strain rates, and strains, which suggests that power dissipation efficiency increases gradually with increasing temperature and decreasing stain rate. Optimum regimes for the hot deformation of 316LN stainless steel were revealed on conventional hot processing maps and verified effectively through the examination of the microstructure. In addition, the regimes for defects of the product were also interpreted on the conventional hot processing maps. The developed power dissipation efficiency maps allow optimized processing routes to be selected, thus enabling industry producers to effectively control forming variables to enhance practical production process efficiency. Isothermal compression tests of BSTMUF601 super-alloy in the temperature range of 950 °C-1200 °C and at the strain rates of 0.2 s-1, 5 s-1, 10 s-1 were performed on a Gleeble-1500D thermo-mechanical simulator. Based on the hyperbolic sine function, the unified constitutive equations and hot processing maps during the hot deformation process were established. The flow stress predicted by the constitutive equations shows good agreement with the corrected stress. Hot processing maps for hot working conditions were established based on exploring the effect of power dissipation efficiency and the instability coefficient associated with various kinds of temperatures and stain rates. Subsequently, power dissipation efficiency and the instability coefficient were interpreted based on hot processing maps under a series of strains, temperatures and strain rates. The results show that power dissipation efficiency increases gradually with the increasing temperature and the decreasing stain rate, and instability domains reduce first, then increase with the increase of true strain. Titanium alloy is widely applied in aerospace, medical, shipping and other fields due to its high specific strength and low density. The purpose of this study was to analyze the formability of Ti6Al4V alloys at elevated temperatures. An accurate constitutive model is the basic condition for accurately simulating the plastic forming of materials, and it is an important basis for optimizing the parameters of the hot forging forming process. In this study, the optimization algorithm was used to accurately identify the high-temperature constitutive model parameters of Ti6Al4V titanium alloy, and the hot working diagram was established to optimize the hot forming process parameters. The optimal forming conditions of Ti6Al4V titanium alloy are given. Ti6Al4V alloy was subjected to high-temperature compression tests at 800–1000 °C and at strain rates of 0.01–5 s−1 on a Gleeble-1500D thermal/mechanical simulation machine. Each parameter of the Hansel–Spittel constitutive model was taken as an independent variable, and the accumulated error between the stress calculated by the constitutive model and the stress obtained by experimentation was used as an objective function. Based on response surface methodology, an inverse optimization method for identifying the parameters of the high-temperature constitutive model of Ti6Al4V alloy is proposed in this paper. An orthogonal test design was adopted to obtain sample point data, and a third-order response surface approximate model was established. The genetic algorithm (GA) was applied to reversely optimize the parameters of the constitutive model. To verify the accuracy of the optimized constitutive model, the average absolute relative error (AARE) and correlation coefficient (R) were used to evaluate the reliability of optimized constitutive model. The R value of the model was 0.999, and the AARE value was 0.048, respectively, indicating that the established high-temperature constitutive model for Ti6Al4V alloy has good calculation accuracy. The flow stress behavior of the material could be accurately delineated. Meanwhile, in order to study the formability of Ti6Al4V alloy, the hot processing map of the alloy, based on a dynamic material model, was established in this paper. The optimum hot working domains of the Ti6Al4V alloy were determined within 840–920 °C/0.01–0.049 s−1 and 940–980 °C/0.11–1.65 s−1; the hot processing map was verified in combination with the microstructure, and the fine and equiaxed grains and a large amount of β phase could be found at 850 °C/0.01 s−1. The hot deformation behavior and hot rolling based on the hot processing map of a nano-Y2O3 addition near-α titanium alloy were investigated. The isothermal compression tests were conducted at various deformation temperatures (950–1070 °C) and strain rates (0.001–1 s−1), up to a true strain of 1.2. The flow stress was strongly dependent on deformation temperature and strain rate, decreasing with increased temperature and decreased strain rate. The average activation energy was 657.8 kJ/mol and 405.9 kJ/mol in (α + β) and β region, respectively. The high activation energy and peak stress were contributed to the Y2O3 particles and refractory elements comparing with other alloys and composites. The deformation mechanisms in the (α + β) region were dynamic recovery and spheroidization of α phase, while the β phase field was mainly controlled by the dynamic recrystallization and dynamic recovery of β grains. Moreover, the constitutive equation based on Norton–Hoff equation and hot processing map were also obtained. Through the optimal processing window determined by the hot processing map at true strains of 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6, the alloy sheet with multi-pass hot rolling (1050 °C/0.03–1 s−1) was received directly from the as-cast alloy. The ultimate tensile strength and yield strength of the alloy sheet were 1168 MPa and 1091 MPa at room temperature, and 642 MPa and 535 MPa at 650 °C, respectively, which performs some advantages in current research. Hot compression tests over the temperature range from 350 °C to 500 °C and strain rates range from 0.001 s−1 to 1 s−1 for homogenized Al–6.32Zn–2.10Mg alloy were carried out on a Gleeble-3800 thermal simulation machine to characterize its hot deformation behavior. At the same time, a modified Arrhenius constitutive equation was established to describe the flow behavior of the alloy, whose average absolute error is 2.89%, which proved to have an excellent predictive effect on the flow stress of the alloy. The hot processing map of the alloy was established, and the stability processing parameters were 460–500 °C and 0.01–0.08 s−1. Then, the Z parameter processing map and activation energy processing (AEP) maps were established for further optimization. Eventually, the optimal processing parameters of the alloy was 460–500 °C (0.03–0.08 s−1). Then, the microstructure of specimens was observed using electron backscatter diffraction. Based on the findings the reasonability of the AEP map and Z parameter map was verified. Finally, electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) techniques were used to analyze the evolution of the grain structure during the deformation process. It was found that dynamic recovery (DRV) was the main softening mechanism of Al–6.32Zn–2.10Mg. Continuous dynamic recrystallization (CDRX) and discontinuous dynamic recrystallization (DDRX) operated together with the increase of strain, but CDRX was confirmed as the dominant DRX mechanism. The high one-pass deformation behaviors of mass-produced Al–4.30Mg alloy are investigated in the temperature ranging of 350 °C–500 °C, the strain rate ranging of 0.01 s−1–1 s−1 and the reduction ranging of 50–75%. 3D processing maps are constructed by the superimposition of the instability map and the power dissipation map at the true strain of 0.69, 0.92, 1.20 and 1.38. When the true strain increases from 0.69 to 1.38, the average apparent activation energy (Q) decreases from 140.3 kJ/mol to 112.7 kJ/mol, indicating the reduction of the hot deformation energy barrier. The heating caused by a large strain of 1.38 greatly reduces the Q and improves processing efficiency. The instability regions at the strain of 0.69 appear at two domains, namely 350 °C/1.0 s−1 and 450 °C/1.0 s−1; whereas, the instability regions disappear at the strain of 1.38. The maximum efficiency of power dissipation is about 48%, which occurs at both domains of 440–480 °C/0.01 s−1/0.69 true strain and 470–500 °C/1.0 s−1/1.20 true strain. High-efficiency domains represent the optimized deformation conditions which are verified by stress-strain curves and microstructure characterization, in which the local dynamic recrystallization is observed and the power dissipates mainly by dynamic recrystallization during deformation. The behaviors of and mechanisms acting in Ti–6Al–4V alloy during low-temperature superplastic deformation were systematically studied by using a Gleeble-3800 thermocompression simulation machine. Focusing on the mechanical behaviors and microstructure evolution laws during low-temperature superplastic compression tests, we clarified the changing laws of the strain rate sensitivity index, activation energy of deformation, and grain index at varying strain rates and temperatures. Hot working images based on the dynamic material model and the deformation mechanism maps involving dislocation quantity were plotted on the basis of PRASAD instability criteria. The low-temperature superplastic compression-forming technique zone and the rheological instability zone of Ti–6Al–4V were analyzed by using hot processing theories. The dislocation evolution laws and deformation mechanisms of the grain size with Burgers vector compensation and the rheological stress with modulus compensation during the low-temperature superplastic compression of Ti–6Al–4V were predicted by using deformation mechanism maps. In this work, hot compression experiments of 300M steel were performed at 900–1150 °C and 0.01–10 s−1. The relation of flow stress and microstructure evolution was analyzed. The intriguing finding was that at a lower strain rate (0.01 s−1), the flow stress curves were single-peaked, while at a higher strain rate (10 s−1), no peak occurred. Metallographic observation results revealed the phenomenon was because dynamic recrystallization was more complete at a lower strain rate. In situ compression tests were carried out to compare with the results by ex situ compression tests. Hot working maps representing the influences of strains, strain rates, and temperatures were established. It was found that the power dissipation coefficient was not only related to the recrystallized grain size but was also related to the volume fraction of recrystallized grains.
