Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the chromatic adaptability and color stability of two different composite resins, Omnichroma and Estelite Bulk-Fill Flow, in Class V restorations at different times. Materials and methods: Standardized Class V cavities were prepared on the labial surface of 34 extracted intact and noncarious human permanent molars. The dental elements were randomly divided into two groups according to the resin composite material. Group 1 was restored with Omnichroma (Tokuyama Dental Corporation Inc., Tokyo, Japan) and Group 2 was restored with Estelite BulkFill Flow Universal (Tokuyama Dental Corporation Inc., Tokyo, Japan). Color properties were assessed using a spectrophotometer, SpectroShadeTM Micro (MHT Optic Research, Niederhasli, Switzerland), at baseline (T0), immediately after Class V restoration (T1), 24 h after restoration (T2) and after thermocycling (T3) (ISO/TS 11405, 2015 protocol). Color difference (ΔE) was analyzed with a Student's t-test and a Wilcoxon–Mann–Whitney test to evaluate the differences, in terms of chromatic adaptability, between the two materials (inter-group analysis) while Kruskal–Wallis test e Two-way ANOVA statistical tests were used to evaluate the color stability of each material over time (intra-group analysis). Results: Regarding the inter-group analysis, there were no statistically significant differences between the two materials in all the comparisons: T0–T1 (p = 0.9025), T0–T2 (p = 0.2779), T0–T3 (p = 0.4694). Moreover, both groups showed an average ΔE > 2. In the intra-group analysis, no statistically significant differences were observed in either Group 1 (p = 0.954) or Group 2 (p = 0.8654). Conclusions: The in vitro color matching, assessed by spectrophotometry, of the two tested resin composites does not vary at different time intervals. Furthermore, even though both composites use different mechanisms to produce the color the human eye perceives, they show very similar chromatic adaptability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Antarctic mapping with satellite images is an important basic task for polar environmental monitoring. Since the first Chinese marine satellite was launched in 2002, China has formed three series of more than 10 marine satellites in orbit. As global operational monitoring satellites of ocean color series, HY-1C and HY-1D have good coverage characteristics and imaging performance in polar regions, and they provide an effective tool for Antarctic monitoring and mapping. In this paper, Antarctic images acquired by the HY-1 satellite Coastal Zone Imager (CZI) sensor were used to study color matching in the mosaic process. According to the CZI characteristics for Antarctic imaging, experiments were carried out on the illuminance nonuniformity of a single image and color registration of multiple images. A gray-level segmentation color-matching method is proposed to solve the problem of image overstretching in the Antarctic image color-matching process. The results and statistical analysis show that the proposed method can effectively eliminate the color deviation between HY-1 Antarctic images, and the mosaic results have a good effect. To evaluate the effect of blocker on color matching of different shaded composite systems on natural teeth, 120 anterior teeth were divided into two groups as light and dark shades (n = 60). Round cavities (7 mm in diameter; 2 mm in depth) were prepared on labial surfaces of the teeth. They were restored using three types of resin composites: multi-shaded (Estelite Sigma Quick, Tokuyama Dental, Japan), single-shaded (Omnichroma, Tokuyama Dental, Japan) and group-shaded (Neo Spectra ST, Dentsply Sirona, Germany) (n = 20). Blocker (Omnichroma) was applied to half of the samples in each group (n = 10). Color matching of the restorations with the surrounding tissues were evaluated either by visual analysis or an instrumental method. The resin composites tested did not yield acceptable results instrumentally. Using blocker with single-shade resin composite on dark-colored teeth yielded a minimal change in color in 2 mm deep cavities in the visual evaluation by dentists. Similarly, applying blocker with group-shaded and multi-shaded resin composite on light-colored teeth caused minimal change in color of 2 mm deep cavities in the visual evaluation by dentists. As the application of blocker had no effect on the color matching of different shaded resin composites in the visual evaluations by all observers, except by dentists, blocker may be used as a dentin shade in 2 mm deep cavities of anterior teeth. This in vitro study aimed to evaluate the final shade of translucent zirconia laminate veneers with varying thicknesses over teeth with different shades. Seventy-five chairside computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) shade A1 third-generation zirconia dental veneers, with thicknesses of 0.50 mm, 0.75 mm, and 1.00 mm, were placed on resin composite teeth with shades ranging from A1 to A4. The laminate veneers were divided into groups based on thickness and background shade. All restorations were evaluated with a color imaging spectrophotometer, to map the veneer surface from A1 to D4. Regardless of the thickness or background shade, all dental veneers showed color alteration from the original shade. Veneers with 0.5 mm thickness tended to display the B1 shade, while veneers with 0.75 mm and 1.0 mm thickness primarily exhibited the B2 shade. The thickness of the laminate veneer and background shade significantly modified the original shade of the zirconia veneer. One-way analysis of variance was performed and a Kruskal–Wallis test was used to determine the significance between the three veneer thicknesses groups. The results indicated that the thinner restorations showed higher values with the color imaging spectrophotometer, suggesting that thinner veneers may result in more consistent color matching. This study underscores the importance of carefully considering thickness and background shade when selecting zirconia laminate veneers, to ensure optimal color matching and overall aesthetic outcomes. The aim of the study was to assess the color matching ability and color stability of a single-shade resin-based composite (Omnichroma—OM) in comparison to a conventional dental composite. One hundred and sixty lower molar acrylic teeth in four different shades (B1, B2, A3, and C3) were prepared with class I cavities. Eighty teeth were divided into two groups based on the two resin composite materials (OM and Filtek Z-350 (FT)) for cavity restoration. Three groups were included in the color matching assessment, namely Gp 1-FT, Gp 2-OM-light cured (C), and Gp 3-OM-uncured (UC) groups. The color assessment was performed prior to cavity restoration and after cavity filling and before and after light curing to detect color matching. The 80 remaining teeth were restored with OM (n = 40) and FT (n = 40); half (n = 40) were submerged in coffee and the other half (n = 40) were submerged in cola for 2 weeks. The color stability was assessed by calculating material color (spectrophotometry) changes (∆E) before and after staining in immersion medium. The means and standard deviations of the ∆E values relating to color matching and color stability (stain resistance) among the study groups were analyzed using ANOVA and Tukey's post hoc test. FT showed significantly better color matching (lower ΔE) in comparison to OM-UC specimens for shades B1, B2, and A3 (p < 0.01). Regarding the color stability in cola, the FT samples showed significantly lower ΔE values (indicating better color stability) compared to OM samples for all four shades (p < 0.01). The ΔE values of OM and FT samples in coffee were comparable (p > 0.01), showing comparable color stability. The color matching ability of the single-shade resin composite (OM) was influenced by the tooth color. The conventional resin composite showed better color matching than the single-shade composite (OM). The color stability of the single-shade resin composite (OM) was dependent on the staining medium. The OM composite showed more compromised color stability than the conventional resin composite in cola and comparable color stability to conventional resin composite in coffee. The color matching and levelness of cotton fabrics dyed with reactive dye, in a non-aqueous environmentally-friendly medium of decamethylcyclopentasiloxane (D5), was investigated using the non-ionic surfactant reverse-micellar approach comprised of poly(ethylene glycol)-based surfactant. The calibration dyeing databases for both conventional water-based dyeing and D5-assisted reverse micellar dyeing were established, along with the dyeing of standard samples with predetermined concentrations. Computer color matching (CCM) was conducted by using different color difference formulae for both dyeing methods. Experimental results reveal that the measured concentrations were nearly the same as the expected concentrations for both methods. This indicates that the D5-assisted non-ionic reverse micellar dyeing approach can achieve color matching as good as the conventional dyeing system. The levelness of the dyed samples was measured according to the relative unlevelness indices (RUI), and the results reveal that the samples dyed by the D5 reverse micellar dyeing system can achieve good to excellent levelness comparable to that of the conventional dyeing system. In this paper a non-parametric model based on Wasserstein CNN is proposed for color correction. It is suitable for large-scale remote sensing image preprocessing from multiple sources under various viewing conditions, including illumination variances, atmosphere disturbances, and sensor and aspect angles. Color correction aims to alter the color palette of an input image to a standard reference which does not suffer from the mentioned disturbances. Most of current methods highly depend on the similarity between the inputs and the references, with respect to both the contents and the conditions, such as illumination and atmosphere condition. Segmentation is usually necessary to alleviate the color leakage effect on the edges. Different from the previous studies, the proposed method matches the color distribution of the input dataset with the references in a probabilistic optimal transportation framework. Multi-scale features are extracted from the intermediate layers of the lightweight CNN model and are utilized to infer the undisturbed distribution. The Wasserstein distance is utilized to calculate the cost function to measure the discrepancy between two color distributions. The advantage of the method is that no registration or segmentation processes are needed, benefiting from the local texture processing potential of the CNN models. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is effective when the input and reference images are of different sources, resolutions, and under different illumination and atmosphere conditions. In this paper, we proposed a method for matching the color and glossiness of an object between different displays by using tone mapping. Since displays have their own characteristics, such as maximum luminance and gamma characteristics, the color and glossiness of an object when displayed differs from one display to another. The color can be corrected by conventional color matching methods, but the glossiness, which greatly changes the impression of an object, needs to be corrected. Our practical challenge was to use tone mapping to correct the high-luminance part, also referred to as the glossy part, which cannot be fully corrected by color matching. Therefore, we performed color matching and tone mapping using high dynamic range images, which can record a wider range of luminance information as input. In addition, we varied the parameters of the tone-mapping function and the threshold at which the function was applied to study the effect on the object's appearance. We conducted a subjective evaluation experiment using the series category method on glossy-corrected images generated by applying various functions to each display. As a result, we found that the differences in glossiness between displays could be corrected by selecting the optimal function for each display. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
