Objective: This study aimed to clarify the variation law of phenotypic traits such as the stem, leaf, flower, main branch ear and seed of Prunella vulgaris Linnaeus. (P. vulgaris), providing provide basic data support for protecting its wild germplasm resources. The phenotypic traits of stems, leaves, flowers, main branch ears and seeds of different wild populations of P. vulgaris were measured to reveal the phenotypic variation among and within populations of P. vulgaris, and to provide a scientific basis for the protection, utilization and collection of wild P. vulgaris germplasm resources. Methods: Variance analysis, coefficient of variation analysis, multiple comparison analysis, cluster analysis and principal component analysis were used to study the phenotypic traits of nine wild P. vulgaris populations in different regions of China. Results: The average phenotypic differentiation coefficient of nine traits was 52.04%. Inter-population variation was the main source of phenotypic variation of P. vulgaris. The average variation coefficient of each trait in the population was 21.25%, and the variation range was 15.02–28.94%. Pearson correlation analysis showed that there was a strong autocorrelation between phenotypic traits of wild P. vulgaris, and spikes and stems were greatly affected by environmental factors. According to the diameter of the stem and ear, nine wild P. vulgaris from different geographical populations could be divided into three groups. Group III (AHHS, JXFY) had the best phenotypic traits, and the traits of stem height, stem diameter, leaf length, leaf width and main branch ear length were the largest. The contribution rate of the three principal components screened by principal component analysis was 85.78%. Conclusions: We believe that the phenotypic differentiation among wild populations of P. vulgaris is at a medium level, and the variation within the population is smaller than that between populations, which may be an important reason for the sharp decline in the wild resources of P. vulgaris. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder associated with age. A wealth of evidence indicates that the amyloid β (Aβ) aggregates result from dyshomeostasis between Aβ production and clearance, which plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of AD. Consequently, therapies targeting Aβ reduction represent a promising strategy for AD intervention. Tetramethylpyrazine nitrone (TBN) is a novel tetramethylpyrazine derivative with potential for the treatment of AD. Previously, we demonstrated that TBN markedly enhanced cognitive functions and decreased the levels of Aβ, APP, BACE 1, and hyperphosphorylated tau in 3×Tg-AD mice. However, the mechanism by which TBN inhibits Aβ deposition is still unclear. In this study, we employed APP/PS1 mice treated with TBN (60 mg/kg, ig, bid) for six months, and N2a/APP695swe cells treated with TBN (300 μM) to explore the mechanism of TBN in Aβ reduction. Our results indicate that TBN significantly alleviated cognitive impairment and reduced Aβ deposition in APP/PS1 mice. Further investigation of the underlying mechanisms revealed that TBN decreased the expression of APP and BACE1, activated the AMPK/mTOR/ULK1 autophagy pathway, inhibited the PI3K/AKT/mTOR/ULK1 autophagy pathway, and decreased the phosphorylation levels of JNK and ERK in APP/PS1 mice. Moreover, TBN was found to significantly reduce the mRNA levels of APP and BACE1, as well as those of SP1, CTCF, TGF-β, and NF-κB, transcription factors involved in regulating gene expression. Additionally, TBN was observed to decrease the level of miR-346 and increase the levels of miR-147 and miR-106a in the N2a/APP695swe cells. These findings indicate that TBN may reduce Aβ levels likely by reducing APP expression by regulating APP gene transcriptional factors and miRNAs, reducing BACE1 expression, and promoting autophagy activities. Elbow computerized tomography (CT) scans have been widely applied for describing elbow morphology. To enhance the objectivity and efficiency of clinical diagnosis, an automatic method to recognize, segment, and reconstruct elbow joint bones is proposed in this study. The method involves three steps: initially, the humerus, ulna, and radius are automatically recognized based on the anatomical features of the elbow joint, and the prompt boxes are generated. Subsequently, elbow MedSAM is obtained through transfer learning, which accurately segments the CT images by integrating the prompt boxes. After that, hole-filling and object reclassification steps are executed to refine the mask. Finally, three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction is conducted seamlessly using the marching cube algorithm. To validate the reliability and accuracy of the method, the images were compared to the masks labeled by senior surgeons. Quantitative evaluation of segmentation results revealed median intersection over union (IoU) values of 0.963, 0.959, and 0.950 for the humerus, ulna, and radius, respectively. Additionally, the reconstructed surface errors were measured at 1.127, 1.523, and 2.062 mm, respectively. Consequently, the automatic elbow reconstruction method demonstrates promising capabilities in clinical diagnosis, preoperative planning, and intraoperative navigation for elbow joint diseases. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a complex degenerative disease of the central nervous system that is clinically characterized by a progressive decline in memory and cognitive function. The pathogenesis of AD is intricate and not yet fully understood. Neuroinflammation, particularly microglial activation-mediated neuroinflammation, is believed to play a crucial role in increasing the risk, triggering the onset, and hastening the progression of AD. Modulating microglial activation and regulating microglial energy metabolic disorder are seen as promising strategies to intervene in AD. The application of anti-inflammatory drugs and the targeting of microglia for the prevention and treatment of AD has emerged as a new area of research interest. This article provides a comprehensive review of the role of neuroinflammation of microglial regulation in the development of AD, exploring the connection between microglial energy metabolic disorder, neuroinflammation, and AD development. This paper is grounded on the following information: (1) Disposable masks primarily consist of polypropylene fiber, which exhibits excellent flexibility. (2) China has extensive coal gangue deposits that pose a significant environmental hazard. (3) Coal gangue concrete exhibits greater fragility compared to regular concrete and demonstrates reduced resistance to deformation. With the consideration of environmental conservation and resource reutilization, a preliminary concept suggests the conversion of discarded masks into fibers, which can be blended with coal gangue concrete to enhance its mechanical characteristics. In this paper, the stress–strain law of different mask fiber–doped coal gangue concrete (DMGC) under uniaxial compression is studied when the matrix strength is C20 and C30, and the effect of mask fiber content on the mechanical behavior and energy conversion relationship of coal gangue concrete is analyzed. The experimental results show that when the content of mask fiber is less than 1.5%, the strength, elastic modulus, deformation resistance, and energy dissipation of the concrete increase with mask fiber content. When the amount of mask fiber is more than 1.5%, because the tensile capacity and energy dissipation level of concrete produced by the mask fiber cannot compensate for the compression and deformation resistance of concrete of the same quantity and because excess fiber is difficult to evenly mix in the concrete, there are pore defects in concrete, which decreases the concrete strength due to the increase in mask fiber. Therefore, adding less than 1.5% mask fiber helps to improve the ductility, toughness, impermeability, and oxidation and control the cracking of coal gangue concrete. Based on Weibull theory, a constitutive model of DMGC is established, which fits well with the results of a uniaxial test, providing support for understanding the mechanical law of mask fiber–doped concrete. Diterpenoids are considered the major bioactive components in Scutellaria barbata to treat cancer and inflammation, but few comprehensive profiling studies of diterpenoids have been reported. Herein, a stepwise diagnostic product ions (DPIs) filtering strategy for efficient and targeted profiling of diterpenoids in Scutellaria barbata was developed using UHPLC-Q-Exactive-Orbitrap-MS. After UHPLC-HRMS/MS analysis of six diterpenoid reference standards, fragmentation behaviors of these references were studied to provide DPIs. Then, stepwise DPIs filtering aimed to reduce the potential interferences of matrix ions and achieve more chromatographic peaks was conducted to rapidly screen the diterpenoids. The results demonstrated that stepwise DPIs were capable of simplifying the workload in data post-processing and the effective acquisition of low abundance compounds. Subsequently, DPIs and MS/MS fragment patterns were adopted to identify the targeted diterpenoids. As a result, 381 diterpenoids were unambiguously or tentatively identified, while 141 of them with completely new molecular weights were potential new diterpenoids for Scutellaria barbata. These results demonstrate that the developed stepwise DPIs filtering method could be employed as an efficient, reliable, and valuable strategy to screen and identify the diterpenoid profile in Scutellaria barbata. Transgenic mouse models of Alzheimer's disease (AD) overexpress mutations of the human amyloid protein precursor (APP) and presenilin-1 (PSEN1) genes, which are known causes of amyloid pathology in familial AD. However, animal models for studying AD in the context of aging and age-related co-morbidities, such as blood–brain barrier (BBB) disruptions, are lacking. More recently, aged and progeroid mouse models have been proposed as alternatives to study aging-related AD, but the toxicity of murine amyloid-beta protein (Aβ) is not well defined. In this study, we aimed to study the potential toxicity of murine Aβ on brain endothelial cells and astrocytes, which are important components of the BBB, using mouse brain endothelial cells (bEnd.3) and astrocytes (C8-D1A). Murine-soluble Aβ (1–42) oligomers (sAβO42) (10 µM) induced negligible injuries in an endothelial monolayer but induced significant barrier disruptions in a bEnd.3 and C8-D1A co-culture. Similar results of endothelial perturbation were observed in a bEnd.3 monolayer treated with astrocyte-conditioned medium (ACM) generated by astrocytes exposed to sAβO42 (ACM-sAβO42), while additional exogenous sAβO42 did not cause further damage. Western blot analysis showed that ACM-sAβO42 altered the basal activities of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2), eNOS, and the signaling of the MEK/ERK and Akt pathways in bEnd.3. Our results showed that murine sAβO42 was moderately toxic to an endothelial and astrocyte co-culture. These damaging effects on the endothelial barrier were induced by deleterious soluble factors released from astrocytes, which disrupted endothelial VEGFR2 signaling and perturbed cell survival and barrier stabilization. Poly(phenyl-substituted siloxanes/silsesquioxanes) are obtained by the Piers–Rubinsztajn (PR) reaction of hydrogen-containing siloxanes (HCS) with diphenyldialkoxysilanes such as diphenyldimethoxysilane and diphenyldiethoxysilane catalyzed by tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane. 29Si nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, gel permeation chromatography, and refractive index analysis revealed that apart from phenyl substituents and complex structures such as molecular bridges composed of D2Ph2[(C6H5)2Si(OSi)2], structures also existed in these polymers, having high refractive indexes (above 1.50) and high molecular weights (75.60 KDa·mol−1). As revealed by thermogravimetric analysis, these polymers have high thermal stability as well, with temperature at 5% mass loss (T5%) increasing by 182.5 °C and Rw (residual weight ratio) increasing by 5.17 times from 14.63% to 75.60%, as compared to HCS, exhibiting its potential application as resins for resisting strong heat. Such high-refractive-index and temperature-resistant poly(phenyl-substituted siloxanes/silsesquioxanes) with Si–H and alkoxy functional groups can be used as a good addition-type crosslinking agent with adhesion-promoting properties or a special curing agent that can solidify silicone materials through simultaneous addition and condensation reactions, which has potential application in the light-emitting diode (LED) packaging industry. Salicylaldimine-modified mesoporous silica (Sal-MCM-3 and Sal-MCM-9) was prepared through a co-condensation method with different amounts of added salicylaldimine. With the coordination from the salicylaldimine, zinc ions were impregnated on Sal-MCM-3 and Sal-MCM-9. Then, Zn-Sal-MCM-3 and Zn-Sal-MCM-9 were calcined to obtain nano-zinc oxide loaded on mesoporous silica (ZnO-MCM-3 and ZnO-MCM-9). The material structures were systematically studied by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), N2 adsorption/desorption measurements, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), zeta potential, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), ultraviolet diffused reflectance spectrum (UV-vis DRS), and thermogravimetry (TGA). Methyl orange (MO) was used to investigate the photocatalysis behavior of ZnO-MCM-3 and ZnO-MCM-9. The results confirmed that nano ZnO was loaded in the channels as well as the outside surface of mesoporous silica (MCM-41). The modification of salicylaldimine helped MCM-41 to load more nano ZnO on MCM-41. When the modification amount of salicylaldimine was one-ninth and one-third of the mass of the silicon source, respectively, the load of nano ZnO on ZnO-MCM-9 and ZnO-MCM-3 had atomic concentrations of 1.27 and 2.03, respectively. ZnO loaded on ZnO-MCM-9 had a wurtzite structure, while ZnO loaded on ZnO-MCM-3 was not in the same crystalline group. The blocking effect caused by nano ZnO in the channels reduced the orderliness of MCM-41. The photodegradation of MO can be divided in two processes, which are mainly controlled by the surface areas of ZnO-MCM and the loading amount of nano ZnO, respectively. Using butyl methacrylate (BMA) and styrene (St) as monomers and divinylbenzene (DVB) as a crosslinking agent, P(St-BMA) microspheres were prepared by suspension polymerization. Tea tree oil (TTO) microspheres were prepared by adsorbing TTO on P(St-BMA) microspheres. The structure and surface morphology of P(St-BMA) microspheres and TTO microspheres were characterized by Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), optical microscopy, and Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). In doing so, the structural effect of P(St-BMA) microspheres on oil absorption and sustained release properties could be investigated. The results show that the surface of the P(St-BMA) microspheres in the process of TTO microsphere formation changed from initially concave to convex. The TTO microspheres significantly improved the stability of TTO, which was found to completely decompose as the temperature of the TTO increased from about 110 °C to 150 °C. The oil absorption behavior, which was up to 3.85 g/g, could be controlled by adjusting the monomer ratio and the amount of crosslinking agent. Based on Fickian diffusion, the sustained release behavior of TTO microspheres was consistent with the Korsmeyer-Pappas kinetic model. The aim of the present study was to obtain the prevalence of malocclusions in preschool children in Shanghai, China. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 2335 children aged 3-5 years from kindergartens. Several occlusal parameters were clinically assessed, including second deciduous molar terminal plane, canine relationship, degree of overjet and overbite, anterior and posterior crossbite, and the presence or absence of physiologic spaces and crowding. All parents of subjects were asked to fill in the oral health knowledge questionnaires. The prevalence of malocclusion in primary dentition in Shanghai was 83.9%, and no significant differences were found in genders. Data showed that the prevalence of deep overbite (63.7%) was the highest in children with malocclusion, followed by deep overjet (33.9%), midline deviation (26.6%), anterior crossbite (8.0%) and anterior crowding (6.5%). The results revealed a high prevalence of malocclusion in primary dentition in children aged 3-5 years old of Shanghai, especially in vertical anomalies. The need for preventive orthodontic therapy is extremely desired and oral health education about malocclusion should be strengthened.
