With the increase in port throughput and the development of the trend of large-scale ships, selecting applicable anchor positions for ships and ensuring the rational and comprehensive utilization of anchorage areas have become a key issue in utilizing the rate of anchorage resources, ensuring the safety of ships anchoring operations and promoting the development of the shipping industry. Existing anchor position selection and detection algorithm studies are limited to a two-dimensional plane for ship anchor position selection, with few studies considering intelligent detection algorithms for safe ship anchoring water depths based on three-dimensional space, considering conditions such as wind and waves. By considering water depth conditions and the objectives of anchorage safety issues, this study proposes an intelligent detection method for ship anchor detection to find the ship's ideal anchor location in the anchorages by applying the Monte Carlo algorithm. In the processing step, in combination with the Monte Carlo random plane anchor position detection algorithm and Monte Carlo random sampling water depth detection method, the anchor position circle radius model, safe spacing model, anchoring area detection model and safe water depth model are used for examining the anchorage area for awaiting the ship in three-dimensions. To verify the accuracy of the proposed model, based on the scale of common ship types and considering the most conservative parameters, a series of simulation experiments are conducted to check whether the water depth meets the requirements and fully ensure the safety of the experimental results. The research results indicate that the detection almost cover the whole anchorage area and obtain safe water depth restrictions. This method helps to improve the efficiency of ship anchoring and makes actual anchoring operations safer. Under the premise of ensuring sufficient safe spacing between ships, the anchorage ground can accommodate more ships and simulate multi-type ship anchor position detection operations concerning various ship-type parameters to further ensure the safety of ship anchoring. Background: while most gut microbiota research has focused on term infants, the health outcomes of preterm infants are equally important. Very-low-birth-weight (VLBW) or extremely-low-birth-weight (ELBW) preterm infants have a unique gut microbiota structure, and probiotics have been reported to somewhat accelerate the maturation of the gut microbiota and reduce intestinal inflammation in very-low preterm infants, thereby improving their long-term outcomes. The aim of this study was to investigate the structure of gut microbiota in ELBW neonates to facilitate the early identification of different types of low-birth-weight (LBW) preterm infants. Methods: a total of 98 fecal samples from 39 low-birth-weight preterm infants were included in this study. Three groups were categorized according to different birth weights: ELBW (n = 39), VLBW (n = 39), and LBW (n = 20). The gut microbiota structure of neonates was obtained by 16S rRNA gene sequencing, and microbiome analysis was conducted. The community state type (CST) of the microbiota was predicted, and correlation analysis was conducted with clinical indicators. Differences in the gut microbiota composition among ELBW, VLBW, and LBW were compared. The value of gut microbiota composition in the diagnosis of extremely low birth weight was assessed via a random forest-machine learning approach. Results: we briefly analyzed the structure of the gut microbiota of preterm infants with low birth weight and found that the ELBW, VLBW, and LBW groups exhibited gut microbiota with heterogeneous compositions. Low-birth-weight preterm infants showed five CSTs dominated by Enterococcus, Staphylococcus, Klebsiella, Streptococcus, Pseudescherichia, and Acinetobacter. The birth weight and clinical indicators related to prematurity were associated with the CST. We found the composition of the gut microbiota was specific to the different types of low-birth-weight premature infants, namely, ELBW, VLBW, and LBW. The ELBW group exhibited significantly more of the potentially harmful intestinal bacteria Acinetobacter relative to the VLBW and LBW groups, as well as a significantly lower abundance of the intestinal probiotic Bifidobacterium. Based on the gut microbiota's composition and its correlation with low weight, we constructed random forest model classifiers to distinguish ELBW and VLBW/LBW infants. The area under the curve of the classifiers constructed with Enterococcus, Klebsiella, and Acinetobacter was found to reach 0.836 by machine learning evaluation, suggesting that gut microbiota composition may be a potential biomarker for ELBW preterm infants. Conclusions: the gut bacteria of preterm infants showed a CST with Enterococcus, Klebsiella, and Acinetobacter as the dominant genera. ELBW preterm infants exhibit an increase in the abundance of potentially harmful bacteria in the gut and a decrease in beneficial bacteria. A modified plastic Burgers model considering cohesion decay is proposed for frozen soils. A series of triaxial compression and creep tests were conducted on a kind of frozen silty clay for obtaining the model parameters. According to typical triaxial creep strain curves with only a decaying creep stage, a deformation parameter calibration method for a plastic Burgers model is proposed, and the validity of the method was further verified. When the original plastic Burgers model was incorporated with a cohesion decay function, it was shown that the successive development process of frozen soil creep strain from the decaying to non-decaying stage could be described reasonably. Phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate 5-kinases (PIP5Ks), essential enzymes in the phosphatidylinositol signaling pathway, are crucial for the abiotic stress responses and the overall growth and development of plants. However, the GhPIP5Ks had not been systematically studied, and their function in upland cotton was unknown. This study identified a total of 28 GhPIP5Ks, and determined their chromosomal locations, gene structures, protein motifs and cis-acting elements via bioinformatics analysis. A quantitative real-time PCR (qRT‒PCR) analysis showed that most GhPIP5Ks were upregulated under different stresses. A virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) assay indicated that the superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), and catalase (CAT) activities were significantly decreased, while malondialdehyde (MDA) content were significantly increased in GhPIP5K2- and GhPIP5K22-silenced upland cotton plants under abiotic stress. Furthermore, the expression of the stress marker genes GhHSFB2A, GhHSFB2B, GhDREB2A, GhDREB2C, GhRD20-1, GhRD29A, GhBIN2, GhCBL3, GhNHX1, GhPP2C, GhCBF1, GhSnRK2.6 and GhCIPK6 was significantly decreased in the silenced plants after exposure to stress. These results revealed that the silencing of GhPIP5K2 and GhPIP5K22 weakened the tolerance to abiotic stresses. These discoveries provide a foundation for further inquiry into the actions of the GhPIP5K gene family in regulating the response and resistance mechanisms of cotton to abiotic stresses. Based on the classic Keynesian theory of money demand and city panel data, in this study, we investigate the impacts of different money demand motives on urban household consumption in China, and provide ideas for promoting sustainable growth in household consumption in China. The results of this study show the following: First, in general, the theory of money demand motivation can adequately explain household consumption in large and medium-sized cities in China. Second, the CPI time series has a significant adverse effect on the real money demand of most households. Third, residents significantly reduce food consumption to satisfy speculative money demand for financial instruments, and the lower the income level, the keener households are to invest in high-risk stocks. Fourth, even for high-income households, the precautionary money demand generated via the purchase of commercial insurance still has a significant crowding-out effect on their total consumption. The relationship between climate change and extreme precipitation is extremely complex. From a probabilistic perspective, a proper understanding of the response of extreme precipitation to climate change is of significant importance. This study was based on daily precipitation provided by CMIP6 climate models and employed copula functions to construct joint distributions of precipitation amount and precipitation intensity indices at different quantile levels. A spatial–temporal assessment of the susceptibility areas for extreme precipitation in the Yellow River Basin was conducted while considering bivariate return periods and design values. The results indicate that there were significant spatial differences in the bivariate return periods. Taking the R90P-SDII (90) index for a 20a return period as an example, the difference between the maximum and minimum joint return periods within the Yellow River Basin was 1.4 times, while the co-occurring return period was 7.0 times, and the Kendall return period was 4 times. Moreover, this difference increased with the increase in the return period. The magnitude order of the four return periods is as follows: TAnd > TKendall > TSingle-variable > TOr. Joint return periods (Or) and co-occurring return periods (And) could be considered as the extreme cases under single-variable return periods, serving as an estimation interval for actual return periods. Under the influence of climate change, the bivariate design values for future periods exhibited a variability increase of 6.76–28.8% compared to historical periods, and this increase grew with higher radiative forcing scenarios, ranking as SSP126 < SSP245 < SSP585. The bivariate design values showed a noticeable difference in variability compared to the single-variable design values, ranging from −0.79% to 18.67%. Centipedegrass (Eremochloa ophiuroides (Munro.) Hack.) is a species originating in China and is an excellent warm-season turfgrass. As a native species in southern China, it is naturally distributed in the phosphorus-deficient and aluminum-toxic acid soil areas. It is important to research the molecular mechanism of centipedegrass responses to phosphorus-deficiency and/or aluminum-toxicity stress. Quantitative Real-Time PCR (qRT-PCR) is a common method for gene expression analysis, and the accuracy of qRT-PCR results depends heavily on the stability of internal reference genes. However, there are still no reported stable and effective reference genes for qRT-PCR analysis of target genes under the acid-soil-related stresses in different organs of centipedegrass. For scientific rigor, the gene used as a reference for any plant species and/or any stress conditions should be first systematically screened and evaluated. This study is the first to provide a group of reliable reference genes to quantify the expression levels of functional genes of Eremochloa ophiuroides under multiple stresses of P deficiency and/or aluminum toxicity. In this study, centipedegrass seedlings of the acid-soil-resistant strain 'E041' and acid-soil-sensitive strain 'E089' were used for qRT-PCR analysis. A total of 11 candidate reference genes (ACT, TUB, GAPDH, TIP41, CACS, HNR, EP, EF1α, EIF4α, PP2A and actin) were detected by qRT-PCR technology, and the stability of candidate genes was evaluated with the combination of four internal stability analysis software programs. The candidate reference genes exhibited differential stability of expression in roots, stems and leaves under phosphorus-deficiency and/or aluminum-toxicity stress. On the whole, the results showed that GAPDH, TIP41 and HNR were the most stable in the total of samples. In addition, for different tissues under various stresses, the selected reference genes were also different. CACS and PP2A were identified as two stable reference genes in roots through all three stress treatments (phosphate deficiency, aluminum toxicity, and the multiple stress treatment of aluminum toxicity and phosphate deficiency). Moreover, CACS was also stable as a reference gene in roots under each treatment (phosphate deficiency, aluminum toxicity, or multiple stresses of aluminum toxicity and phosphate deficiency). In stems under all three stress treatments, GAPDH and EIF4α were the most stable reference genes; for leaves, PP2A and TIP41 showed the two highest rankings in all three stress treatments. Finally, qRT-PCR analysis of the expression patterns of the target gene ALMT1 was performed to verify the selected reference genes. The application of the reference genes identified as internal controls for qRT-PCR analysis will enable accurate analysis of the target gene expression levels and expression patterns in centipedegrass under acid-soil-related stresses. The venting of methane from coal mining is China's main source of methane emissions. Accurate and up-to-date methane emission factors for coal mines are significant for reporting and controlling methane emissions in China. This study takes a typical coal mine in Shanxi Province as the research object and divides the coal mine into different zones based on the occurrence structure of methane in Shanxi Province. The methane emission characteristics of underground coal mine types and monitoring modes were studied. The emissions of methane from coal seams and ventilation methane of six typical coal mine groups in Shanxi Province were monitored. The measured methane concentration data were corrected by substituting them into the methane emission formula, and the future methane emissions were predicted by the coal production and methane emission factors. The results show that the number of methane mines and predicted reserves in Zone I of Shanxi Province are the highest. The average methane concentration emitted from coal and gas outburst mines is about 22.52%, and the average methane concentration emitted from high-gas mines is about 10.68%. The methane emissions from coal and gas outburst mines to the atmosphere account for about 64% of the total net methane emissions. The predicted methane emission factor for Shanxi coal mines is expected to increase from 8.859 m3/t in 2016 to 9.136 m3/t in 2025, and the methane emissions from Shanxi coal mines will reach 8.43 Tg in 2025. The R2R3-MYB genes in plants play an essential role in the drought-responsive signaling pathway. Plenty of R2R3-MYB S21 and S22 subgroup genes in Arabidopsis have been implicated in dehydration conditions, yet few have been covered in terms of the role of the S21 and S22 subgroup genes in poplar under drought. PdMYB2R089 and PdMYB2R151 genes, respectively belonging to the S21 and S22 subgroups of NL895 (Populus deltoides × P. euramericana cv. 'Nanlin895′), were selected based on the previous expression analysis of poplar R2R3-MYB genes that are responsive to dehydration. The regulatory functions of two target genes in plant responses to drought stress were studied and speculated through the genetic transformation of Arabidopsis thaliana. PdMYB2R089 and PdMYB2R151 could promote the closure of stomata in leaves, lessen the production of malondialdehyde (MDA), enhance the activity of the peroxidase (POD) enzyme, and shorten the life cycle of transgenic plants, in part owing to their similar conserved domains. Moreover, PdMYB2R089 could strengthen root length and lateral root growth. These results suggest that PdMYB2R089 and PdMYB2R151 genes might have the potential to improve drought adaptability in plants. In addition, PdMYB2R151 could significantly improve the seed germination rate of transgenic Arabidopsis, but PdMYB2R089 could not. Inappropriate vegetation reconstruction in the Loess Plateau region has led to a significant increase in regional evapotranspiration and water consumption, further aggravating the shortage of soil water resources in the Loess Plateau region. The Jing River basin is a typical area for vegetation reconstruction in the Loess Plateau region. A thorough understanding of changes in hydrological processes in the Jing River basin is of significant scientific importance for efficient utilization of soil water resources and sustainable vegetation restoration in the region. In this study, the physically based Water and Energy Transfer Processes (WEP) distributed hydrological model was used to simulate key hydrological processes in the Jing River Basin during different periods before and after the implementation of cropland conversion to forest and grassland from 1980 to 2019. The results showed that after the implementation of cropland conversion to forest and grassland from 2000 to 2019, the average runoff volume in the Jing River Basin decreased by 20.91%. The most significant decrease in average runoff occurred in the central and northern parts of the basin, with a maximum reduction of 48.6%. The decrease in runoff in flood season is more obvious. The peak discharge decreased by 24.91%, and the most significant decrease occurred in the northern and central parts of the basin, ranging from 10.3% to 50.2%. The spatial distribution pattern of average soil moisture in the 0–0.8 m soil layer showed more moisture in the south and less in the north, with the minimum value occurring in certain areas in the eastern part of the basin. Overall, the implementation of cropland conversion to forest and grassland led to a certain degree of decrease in soil moisture in the basin. After the implementation of cropland conversion to forest and grassland, reference evapotranspiration fluctuated only in specific areas of the basin with no significant overall change. Against the background of global warming and frequent extreme precipitation events, the changes in drought characteristics in the middle reaches of the Yellow River Basin (YRMB) have been particularly pronounced in recent years. Under the new situation, it is necessary to further our understanding of drought risk in the basin and its response mechanisms to climate change. In this study, YRMB was utilized as the research area. Based on the precipitation (P) and potential evapotranspiration (PET) data under four emission scenarios (historical and future), five timescales (SPEI-1, SPEI-3, SPEI-6, SPEI-9, and SPEI-12) of SPEI drought indices were estimated in this study. Drought events were identified using the run-length theory, and the spatial distribution values of drought frequency, duration, intensity, and severity were also examined. Based on the preferred copula function, the two-dimensional joint distribution of drought variables was established, and the two-dimensional return period of drought indices in the historical (1901–2014) and future (2022–2100 under SSP245 and SSP585 emission scenarios) periods were calculated. The results show that the SPEI index in the middle reaches of the YRMB is increasing in the future period and the basin tends to be more humid. Under the SSP245 and SSP585 scenarios, the frequency of long drought durations, high drought intensities, or severe drought events in the basin may be higher. The univariate return period is always higher than the joint return period, but lower than the co-occurrence return period, and both types of return periods can be used to assess range estimations in the future. The research results can provide support for understanding the spatiotemporal distribution characteristics of drought in the YRMB and improving the accuracy of drought decision making. In recent decades, the massive emission of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, into the atmosphere has had a serious impact on the ecological environment. The dry reforming of carbon dioxide and methane to syngas cannot only realize the resource utilization of methane and carbon dioxide but also reduce global climate change. It is of great significance in carbon emission reduction. Owing to the dry reforming of methane (DRM) being a strongly endothermic reaction, it needs to be carried out under high-temperature conditions. It makes the catalyst have problems of the sintering of metal, carbon deposition, and poisoning. This article revolves around the problem of catalyst deactivation during the DRM reaction. It expands upon the thermodynamics and mechanisms of the DRM reaction, analyzes the causes of metal catalyst deactivation due to carbon deposition, sintering, and poisoning, and summarizes how the active components, supports, and additives of metal catalysts restrain the DRM catalyst deactivation during the reaction. The analysis revealed that changing the type and size of the active metal, adjusting the properties of the support, and adding additives can further regulate the dispersion of the active component, the interaction between the active component and the support, the oxygen vacancies of the support, and the acidity and basicity of the catalyst surface, ultimately achieving control over the metal catalyst's resistance to sintering, carbon deposition, and sulfur poisoning. In addition, it discusses the application of metal catalysts in photothermal and plasma-catalyzed DRM. Finally, it outlines the prospects for research on metal catalysts for the DRM. R2R3-type MYB transcription factors are implicated in drought stress, which is a primary factor limiting the growth and development of woody plants. The identification of R2R3-MYB genes in the Populus trichocarpa genome has been previously reported. Nevertheless, the diversity and complexity of the conserved domain of the MYB gene caused inconsistencies in these identification results. There is still a lack of drought-responsive expression patterns and functional studies of R2R3-MYB transcription factors in Populus species. In this study, we identified a total of 210 R2R3-MYB genes in the P. trichocarpa genome, of which 207 genes were unevenly distributed across all 19 chromosomes. These poplar R2R3-MYB genes were phylogenetically divided into 23 subgroups. Collinear analysis demonstrated that the poplar R2R3-MYB genes underwent rapid expansion and that whole-genome duplication events were a dominant factor in the process of rapid gene expansion. Subcellular localization assays indicated that poplar R2R3-MYB TFs mainly played a transcriptional regulatory role in the nucleus. Ten R2R3-MYB genes were cloned from P. deltoides × P. euramericana cv. Nanlin895, and their expression patterns were tissue-specific. A majority of the genes showed similar drought-responsive expression patterns in two out of three tissues. This study provides a valid cue for further functional characterization of drought-responsive R2R3-MYB genes in poplar and provides support for the development of new poplar genotypes with elevated drought tolerance. Standards are technical measures to regulate and promote sustainability. China National Standards for new energy vehicles (NEV) are developing at an increasing rate. We explored the functions and citation network the China national standards from a complex-network perspective. Different types of standards were clustered and citation relationships were identified based on standards' document analyses. In this paper, the evolution of standard nodes and citation links are presented, and implications for future standardization work are proposed. In total, 114 existing standards were identified through desktop research and network analysis by using the Gephi ForceAtlas2 algorithm. Understanding the influence of soil microstructure on light non-aqueous phase liquids (LNAPLs) behavior is critical for predicting the formation of residual LNAPLs under spill condition. However, the roles of soil particle and pore on LNAPLs migration and residue remains unclear. Here, the experiment simulated an LNAPLs (diesel) spill that was performed in fourteen types of soils, and the key factors affecting diesel behavior are revealed. There were significant differences between fourteen types of soils, with regard to the soil particle, soil pore, and diesel migration and residue. After 72 h of leakage, the migration distance of diesel ranged from 3.42 cm to 8.82 cm in the soils. Except for sandy soil, diesel was mainly distributed in the 0–3 cm soil layer, and the residual amounts were 7.85–26.66 g/kg. It was further confirmed from microstructure that the consistency of soil particle and volume of soil macropores (0.05–7.5 μm) are important for diesel residue in the 0–1 cm soil layer and migration distance. The large soil particles corresponding to 90% of volume fraction and volume of soil mesopores (<0.05 μm) are key factors affecting diesel residue in the 1–3 cm soil layer. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) affects around 1% of children with no effective blood test or cure. Recent studies have suggested that these are neurological disorders with a strong genetic basis and that they are associated with the abnormal formation of dendritic spines. Chromosome microarray (CMA) together with high-throughput sequencing technology has been used as a powerful tool to identify new candidate genes for ASD. In the present study, CMA was first used to scan for genome-wide copy number variants in a proband, and no clinically significant copy number variants were found. Whole-exome sequencing (WES) was used further for genetic testing of the whole quad family affected by ASD, including the proband, his non-autistic sister, and his parents. Sanger sequencing and MassARRAY-based validation were used to identify and confirm variants associated with ASD. WES yielded a 151-fold coverage depth for each sample. A total of 98.65% of the targeted whole-exome region was covered at >20-fold depth. A de novo variant in CTTNBP2, p.M115T, was identified. The CTTNBP2 gene belongs to a family of ankyrin repeat domain-containing proteins associated with dendritic spine formation. Although CTTNBP2 has been associated with ASD, limited studies have been developed to identify clinically relevant de novo mutations of CTTNBP2 in children with ASD; family-based WES successfully identified a clinically relevant mutation in the CTTNBP2 gene in a quad family affected by ASD. Considering the neuron-specific expression of CTTNBP2 and its role in dendritic spine formation, our results suggest a correlation between the CTTNBP2 mutation and ASD, providing genetic evidence for ASD spine pathology. Although the present study is currently insufficient to support the assertion that the de novo mutation M115T in CTTNBP2 directly causes the autism phenotype, our study provides support for the assertion that this mutation is a candidate clinically relevant variant in autism. The overall stiffness and modal frequency of the car body of a rapid box car are reduced by the design of the full-side open movable side door structure. The vibration fatigue performance of the welded structure in this car body needs to be verified. The rigid-flexible coupling model of the rapid box wagon was established first, and the model was verified by modal test data. By the application of the virtual iteration method on this model, the displacement excitation loads of this vehicle were acquired. The effectiveness of the load reverse obtaining technology was verified through the comparison between calculated data and the experimental data. Based on the rigid-flexible coupling model and the load obtained by reverse engineering, the fatigue life of the welded structure in the car body was evaluated through the modal structural stress method. The calculated results show that the car body structure obtains obvious modal vibration, which leads to short fatigue life in several weld lines. According to the application requirements of this wagon, the local improvement scheme was proposed, and the effect of the improvement program was evaluated. In this paper, a new fatigue evaluation technology based on the load reverse method of test data was proposed, which provides a theoretical basis for the structural design and program improvement of railway vehicles. As plastic mulching is widely used for maize production on Loess Plateau, study of the fate of fertilizer nitrogen (N) in rain-fed croplands is of great significance. Field experiments were conducted during 2015–2016 at a typical dry-land farm on the Loess Plateau, China. The stable isotope tracer technique was applied to analyze the effects of plastic mulching on the maize crop yield, N content in the grain, and mechanism of N uptake and utilization in maize plants with plastic mulch (PM) and without plastic mulch (CK) on the Loess Plateau. Maize yield, aboveground dry matter, grain N concentration, and N uptake in aboveground biomass for PM significantly increased, in addition to fertilizer nitrogen recovery and nitrogen production efficiency. Compared to CK, PM improved the total N uptake from the soil in the aboveground biomass by 16.39 and 27.75 kg ha−1 and fertilizer nitrogen recovery by 10.89 and 22.02 kg ha−1, respectively. Furthermore, PM increased in-season fertilizer N retention in the soil by 11.9–24.8 kg ha−1, and the uncountable fertilizer N decreased by approximately 33.8 kg ha−1 on average. As a frequently-occurred phenomenon in the high-latitude region, ionospheric scintillations affect the stable service of the positioning navigation and timing service of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), calling for an urgent need of monitoring the scintillations accurately. The monitoring of scintillations usually adopts a special type of receiver, called an ionospheric scintillation monitoring receiver (ISMR), which cannot cover the whole high-latitude region due to its loss distribution. Geodetic receivers are densely distributed, but set at a 30s-sampling-interval usually. It is a controversial issue, namely, the accuracy of the scintillation index extracted from 30s-sampling-interval observations. This paper evaluates the accuracy of two 30s-sampling-interval indices in monitoring scintillations from both the time and space aspects using observations collected in the whole year of 2020. The accuracy in the time aspect is assessed with the phase scintillation index from ISMR as the reference through the following three-pronged approaches, i.e., the accuracy of the daily scintillation occurrence rates in the year 2020, the correlation with space weather parameters, and the variation pattern of the scintillation occurrence rate with the local time and day of the year 2020. The accuracy in space is studied based on the scintillation grid model considering the following two aspects, i.e., the scintillation monitoring performance in a Swarm satellite observation arc, and the statistical scintillation occurrence rate in the whole research region throughout the year 2020. The results of this paper reveal the efficiency of the 30s-sampling-interval scintillation indices in monitoring scintillations and detecting the occurrence patterns in the high-latitude region. The canopy water storage capacity of vegetation has great significance for the hydrological cycle. We used the Pereira regression analysis method, scale-up method, and simulated rainfall method to determine canopy water storage capacity from 2014 to 2018. The Pereira regression analysis was affected mainly by the seasonal variation in the leaf area index and the observation method of throughfall. The canopy water storage capacity was 0.68 mm and 0.72 mm for C. korshinskii and H. rhamnoides, respectively. The canopy water storage capacity of C. korshinskii and H. rhamnoides was 0.73 mm and 0.76 mm, respectively, using the scale-up method. The scale-up method showed that water storage capacity per area of the canopy components was in the order of branches (0.31 mm) > leaves (0.27 mm) > trunks (0.15 mm) for C. korshinskii, and trunks (0.33 mm) > branches (0.29 mm) > leaves (0.14 mm) for H. rhamnoides. We used eight simulated rainfall intensities to determine the canopy water storage capacity for C. korshinskii and H. rhamnoides, which was 0.63 mm and 0.59 mm, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The temporal activation of siRNA provides a valuable strategy for the regulation of siRNA activity and conditional gene silencing. The bioorthogonal bond-cleavage reaction of benzonorbonadiene and tetrazine is a promising trigger in siRNA temporal activation. Here, we developed a new method for the bio-orthogonal chemical activation of siRNA based on the tetrazine-induced bond-cleavage reaction. Small-molecule activatable caged siRNAs were developed with the 5′-vitamin E-benzonobonadiene-modified antisense strand targeting the green fluorescent protein (GFP) gene and the mitotic kinesin-5 (Eg5) gene. The addition of tetrazine triggered the reaction with benzonobonadiene linker and induced the linker cleavage to release the active siRNA. Additionally, the conditional gene silencing of both exogenous GFP and endogenous Eg5 genes was successfully achieved with 5′-vitamin E-benzonobonadiene-caged siRNAs, which provides a new uncaging strategy with small molecules. Simple Summary: The identification of effective novel biomarkers is emergently needed in colon cancer patients. In the present study, firstly we predicted that CHGA could be a biomarker for colon cancer based on the protein–protein interaction network of all the reported biomarkers that were collected from our colorectal cancer biomarker database (CBD). Then we verified our results using a diagnostic test in gene expression data and an immunohistochemistry test. The results of this study suggest that a loss of CHGA expression from the normal colon and adjacent mucosa to colon cancer may be used as a valuable biomarker for early diagnosis of colon cancer patients. Background. The incidence of colorectal cancers has been constantly increasing. Although the mortality has slightly decreased, it is far from satisfaction. Precise early diagnosis for colorectal cancer has been a great challenge in order to improve patient survival. Patients and Methods. We started with searching for protein biomarkers based on our colorectal cancer biomarker database (CBD), finding differential expressed genes (GEGs) and non-DEGs from RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) data, and further predicted new biomarkers of protein–protein interaction (PPI) networks by machine learning (ML) methods. The best-selected biomarker was further verified by a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) test from microarray and RNA-seq data, biological network, and functional analysis, and immunohistochemistry in the tissue arrays from 198 specimens. Results. There were twelve proteins (MYO5A, CHGA, MAPK13, VDAC1, CCNA2, YWHAZ, CDK5, GNB3, CAMK2G, MAPK10, SDC2, and ADCY5) which were predicted by ML as colon cancer candidate diagnosis biomarkers. These predicted biomarkers showed close relationships with reported biomarkers of the PPI network and shared some pathways. An ROC test showed the CHGA protein with the best diagnostic accuracy (AUC = 0.9 in microarray data and 0.995 in RNA-seq data) among these candidate protein biomarkers. Furthermore, immunohistochemistry examination on our colon cancer tissue microarray samples further confirmed our bioinformatical prediction, indicating that CHGA may be used as a potential biomarker for early diagnosis of colon cancer patients. Artificial shape-morphing hydrogels are emerging toward various applications, spanning from electronic skins to healthcare. However, the low freezing and drying tolerance of hydrogels hinder their practical applications in challenging environments, such as subzero temperatures and arid conditions. Herein, we report on a shape-morphing system of tough organohydrogels enabled by the spatially encoded rigid structures and its applications in conformal packaging of "island–bridge" stretchable electronics. To validate this method, programmable shape morphing of Fe (III) ion-stiffened Ca-alginate/polyacrylamide (PAAm) tough organohydrogels down to −50 °C, with long-term preservation of their 3D shapes at arid or even vacuum conditions, was successfully demonstrated, respectively. To further illustrate the potency of this approach, the as-made organohydrogels were employed as a material for the conformal packaging of non-stretchable rigid electronic components and highly stretchable liquid metal (galinstan) conductors, forming a so-called "island–bridge" stretchable circuit. The conformal packaging well addresses the mechanical mismatch between components with different elastic moduli. As such, the as-made stretchable shape-morphing device exhibits a remarkably high mechanical durability that can withstand strains as high as 1000% and possesses long-term stability required for applications under challenging conditions. Forest degradation and mortality have been widely reported in the context of increasingly significant global climate change. As the country with the largest total tree plantation area globally, China has a great responsibility in forestry management to cope with climate change effectively. Mongolian Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica) was widely introduced from its natural sites in China into several other sandy land areas for establishing shelterbelt in the Three-North Shelter Forest Program, scoring outstanding achievements in terms of wind-breaking and sand-fixing. Mongolian Scots pine plantations in China cover a total area of ~800,000 hectares, with the eldest trees having >60 years. However, plantation trees have been affected by premature senescence in their middle-age stages (i.e., dieback, growth decline, and death) since the 1990s. This phenomenon has raised concerns about the suitability of Mongolian Scots pine to sandy habitats and the rationality for further afforestation, especially under the global climate change scenario. Fortunately, dieback has occurred only sporadically at specific sites and in certain years and has not spread to other regions in northern China; nevertheless, global climate change has become increasingly significant in that region. These observations reflect the strong drought resistance and adaptability of Mongolian Scots pines. In this review, we summarized the most recent findings on the ecohydrological attributes of Mongolian Scots pine during its adaptation to both fragile habitats and climate change. Five main species-specific strategies (i.e., opportunistic water absorb strategy, hydraulic failure risk avoidance strategy, water conservation strategy, functional traits adjustment strategy, rapid regeneration strategy) were summarized, providing deep insights into the tree–water relationship. Liquid metal (LM)–polymer composites that combine the thermal and electrical conductivity of LMs with the shape-morphing capability of polymers are attracting a great deal of attention in the fields of reconfigurable electronics and soft robotics. However, investigation of the synergetic effect between the shape-changing properties of LMs and polymer matrices is lacking. Herein, a self-healable and recyclable dual-shape memory composite, comprising an LM (gallium) and a Diels–Alder (DA) crosslinked crystalline polyurethane (PU) elastomer, is reported. The composite exhibits a bilayer structure and achieves excellent shape programming abilities, due to the phase transitions of the LM and the crystalline PU elastomers. To demonstrate these shape-morphing abilities, a heat-triggered soft gripper, which can grasp and release objects according to the environmental temperature, is designed and built. Similarly, combining the electrical conductivity and the dual-shape memory effect of the composite, a light-controlled reconfigurable switch for a circuit is produced. In addition, due to the reversible nature of DA bonds, the composite is self-healable and recyclable. Both the LM and PU elastomer are recyclable, demonstrating the extremely high recycling efficiency (up to 96.7%) of the LM, as well as similar mechanical properties between the reprocessed elastomers and the pristine ones. Background and purpose: Neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, also known as neonatal jaundice, is a common and frequent clinical condition with a complex etiology that can lead to brain damage in severe cases. Early recognition of hyperbilirubinemia and timely intervention and treatment can help reduce the occurrence of sequelae. This study was conducted to identify whether the gut microbiota composition can distinguish neonates with hyperbilirubinemia. Methods: Meconium samples were collected from 69 neonates with neonatal jaundice (NJ) and 69 age- and sex-matched neonates without clinically significant jaundice (healthy controls; HCs) for 16S rRNA gene sequencing and microbiome analysis. Results: Compared with HCs, the Chao 1 richness index of the gut microbiota was significantly decreased in the NJ group. The relative abundance of the probiotic gut bacterium, Lactobacillus, was significantly lower in the NJ group than in the HC group, whereas the abundances of potentially harmful gut bacteria, such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus, were significantly higher in the NJ group than in HCs. Correlation of the gut microbiota and clinical indicators revealed a positive correlation between Escherichia coli/Staphylococcus and serum total bilirubin levels. Finally, the results of a random forest machine-learning method to evaluate the possibility of using NJ-associated gut microbiota compositions as potential NJ biomarkers revealed an area under the curve of 96.88%. Conclusions: The abundances of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus were positively correlated with serum total bilirubin levels. Hence, the gut microbiota composition is a potential biomarker of NJ. Most flowering plants have evolved a self-incompatibility (SI) system to maintain genetic diversity by preventing self-pollination. The Brassica species possesses sporophytic self-incompatibility (SSI), which is controlled by the pollen- and stigma-determinant factors SP11/SCR and SRK. However, the mysterious molecular mechanism of SI remains largely unknown. Here, a new class II S haplotype, named BrS-325, was identified in a pak choi line '325', which was responsible for the completely self-compatible phenotype. To obtain the entire S locus sequences, a complete pak choi genome was gained through Nanopore sequencing and de novo assembly, which provided a good reference genome for breeding and molecular research in B. rapa. S locus comparative analysis showed that the closest relatives to BrS-325 was BrS-60, and high sequence polymorphism existed in the S locus. Meanwhile, two duplicated SRKs (BrSRK-325a and BrSRK-325b) were distributed in the BrS-325 locus with opposite transcription directions. BrSRK-325b and BrSCR-325 were expressed normally at the transcriptional level. The multiple sequence alignment of SCRs and SRKs in class II S haplotypes showed that a number of amino acid variations were present in the contact regions (CR II and CR III) of BrSCR-325 and the hypervariable regions (HV I and HV II) of BrSRK-325s, which may influence the binding and interaction between the ligand and the receptor. Thus, these results suggested that amino acid variations in contact sites may lead to the SI destruction of a new class II S haplotype BrS-325 in B. rapa. Quantitatively estimating the grazing intensity (GI) effects on vegetation in semiarid hilly grassland of the Loess Plateau can help to develop safe utilization levels for natural grasslands, which is a necessity of maintaining livestock production and sustainable development of grasslands. Normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), field vegetation data, and 181 days (one goat per day) of GPS tracking were combined to quantify the spatial pattern of GI, and its effects on the vegetation community structure. The spatial distribution of GI was uneven, with a mean value of 0.50 goats/ha, and 95% of the study area had less than 1.30 goats/ha. The areas with utilization rates of rangeland (July) lower than 45% and 20% made up about 95% and 60% of the study area, respectively. Grazing significantly reduced monthly aboveground biomass, but the grazing effects on plant growth rate were complex across the different plant growth stages. Grazing impaired plant growth in general, but the intermediate GI appeared to facilitate plant growth rate at the end of the growing seasons. Grazing had minimal relationship with vegetation community structure characteristics, though Importance Value of forbs increased with increasing GI. Flexibility in the number of goats and conservatively defining utilization rate, according to the inter-annual variation of utilization biomass, would be beneficial to achieve ecologically healthy and economically sustainable GI. This study investigates the very-high-cycle fatigue (VHCF) behavior at elevated temperature (650 °C) of the Inconel 718 alloy fabricated by selective laser melting (SLM). The results are compared with those of the wrought alloy. Large columnar grain with a cellular structure in the grain interior and Laves/δ phases precipitated along the grain boundaries were exhibited in the SLM alloy, while fine equiaxed grains were present in the wrought alloy. The elevated temperature had a minor effect on the fatigue resistance in the regime below 108 cycles for the SLM alloy but significantly reduced the fatigue strength in the VHCF regime above 108 cycles. Both the SLM and wrought specimens exhibited similar fatigue resistance in the fatigue life regime of fewer than 107–108 cycles at elevated temperature, and the surface initiation mechanism was dominant in both alloys. In a VHCF regime above 107–108 cycles at elevated temperature, the wrought material exhibited slightly better fatigue resistance than the SLM alloy. All fatigue cracks are initiated from the internal defects or the microstructure discontinuities. The precipitation of Laves and δ phases is examined after fatigue tests at high temperatures, and the effect of microstructure on the formation and the propagation of the microstructural small cracks is also discussed. The electrolysis of water is considered to be a primary method for the mass production of hydrogen on a large scale, as a substitute for unsustainable fossil fuels in the future. However, it is highly restricted by the sluggish kinetics of the four-electron process of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Therefore, there is quite an urgent need to develop efficient, abundant, and economical electrocatalysts. Transition metal carbides (TMCs) have recently been recognized as promising electrocatalysts for OER due to their excellent activity, conductivity, and stability. In this review, widely-accepted evaluation parameters and measurement criteria for different electrocatalysts are discussed. Moreover, five sorts of TMC electrocatalysts—including NiC, tungsten carbide (WC), Fe3C, MoC, and MXene—as well as their hybrids, are researched in terms of their morphology and compounds. Additionally, the synthetic methods are summarized. Based on the existing materials, strategies for improving the catalytic ability and new designs of electrocatalysts are put forward. Finally, the future development of TMC materials is discussed both experimentally and theoretically, and feasible modification approaches and prospects of a reliable mechanism are referred to, which would be instructive for designing other effective noble-free electrocatalysts for OER. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the major causes of cancer death worldwide. In general, early diagnosis for CRC and individual therapy have led to better survival for the cancer patients. Accumulating studies concerning biomarkers have provided positive evidence to improve cancer early diagnosis and better therapy. It is, however, still necessary to further investigate the precise biomarkers for cancer early diagnosis and precision therapy and predicting prognosis. In this study, AI-assisted systems with bioinformatics algorithm integrated with microarray and RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) gene expression (GE) data has been approached to predict microRNA (miRNA) biomarkers for early diagnosis of CRC based on the miRNA-messenger RNA (mRNA) interaction network. The relationships between the predicted miRNA biomarkers and other biological components were further analyzed on biological networks. Bayesian meta-analysis of diagnostic test was utilized to verify the diagnostic value of the miRNA candidate biomarkers and the combined multiple biomarkers. Biological function analysis was performed to detect the relationship of candidate miRNA biomarkers and identified biomarkers in pathways. Text mining was used to analyze the relationships of predicted miRNAs and their target genes with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). Survival analyses were conducted to evaluate the prognostic values of these miRNAs in CRC. According to the number of miRNAs single regulated mRNAs (NSR) and the number of their regulated transcription factor gene percentage (TFP) on the miRNA-mRNA network, there were 12 promising miRNA biomarkers were selected. There were five potential candidate miRNAs (miRNA-186-5p, miRNA-10b-5, miRNA-30e-5p, miRNA-21 and miRNA-30e) were confirmed as CRC diagnostic biomarkers, and two of them (miRNA-21 and miRNA-30e) were previously reported. Furthermore, the combinations of the five candidate miRNAs biomarkers showed better prediction accuracy for CRC early diagnosis than the single miRNA biomarkers. miRNA-10b-5p and miRNA-30e-5p were associated with the 5-FU therapy resistance by targeting the related genes. Colon cancer is one of the major causes of cancer death worldwide. The five-year survival rate for the early-stage patients is more than 90%, and only around 10% for the later stages. Moreover, half of the colon cancer patients have been clinically diagnosed at the later stages. It is; therefore, of importance to enhance the ability for the early diagnosis of colon cancer. Taking advantages from our previous studies, there are several potential biomarkers which have been associated with the early diagnosis of the colon cancer. In order to investigate these early diagnostic biomarkers for colon cancer, human chromogranin-A (CHGA) was further analyzed among the most powerful diagnostic biomarkers. In this study, we used a logistic regression-based meta-analysis to clarify associations of CHGA expression with colon cancer diagnosis. Both healthy populations and the normal mucosa from the colon cancer patients were selected as the double normal controls. The results showed decreased expression of CHGA in the early stages of colon cancer as compared to the normal controls. The decline of CHGA expression in the early stages of colon cancer is probably a new diagnostic biomarker for colon cancer diagnosis with high predicting possibility and verification performance. We have also compared the diagnostic powers of CHGA expression with the typical oncogene KRAS, classic tumor suppressor TP53, and well-known cellular proliferation index MKI67, and the CHGA showed stronger ability to predict early diagnosis for colon cancer than these other cancer biomarkers. In the protein–protein interaction (PPI) network, CHGA was revealed to share some common pathways with KRAS and TP53. In order to find out the most valuable biomarkers and pathways for diagnosis, therapy and prognosis in colorectal cancer (CRC) we have collected the published CRC biomarkers and established a CRC biomarker database (CBD: http://sysbio.suda.edu.cn/CBD/index.html). In this study, we analysed the single and multiple DNA, RNA and protein biomarkers as well as their positions in cancer related pathways and protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks to describe their potential applications in diagnosis, therapy and prognosis. CRC biomarkers were collected from the CBD. The RNA and protein biomarkers were matched to their corresponding DNAs by the miRDB database and the PubMed Gene database, respectively. The PPI networks were used to investigate the relationships between protein biomarkers and further detect the multiple biomarkers. The Kyoto Encyclopaedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis and Gene Ontology (GO) annotation were used to analyse biological functions of the biomarkers. AI classification techniques were utilized to further verify the significances of the multiple biomarkers in diagnosis and prognosis for CRC. We showed that a large number of the DNA, RNA and protein biomarkers were associated with the diagnosis, therapy and prognosis in various degrees in the CRC biomarker networks. The CRC biomarkers were closely related to the CRC initiation and progression. Moreover, the biomarkers played critical roles in cellular proliferation, apoptosis and angiogenesis and they were involved in Ras, p53 and PI3K pathways. There were overlaps among the DNA, RNA and protein biomarkers. AI classification verifications showed that the combined multiple protein biomarkers played important roles to accurate early diagnosis and predict outcome for CRC. There were several single and multiple CRC protein biomarkers which were associated with diagnosis, therapy and prognosis in CRC. The Mongolian pine (Pinus sylvestris L. var. mongolica Litv.) was first introduced to the southeastern Horqin sandy land in the mid-1950s. Since then, it has been widely planted and has become the most important conifer species in Northern China, providing significant ecological, economic and social benefits. However, its function in sequestering carbon at different developmental stages has been little studied. In this study, twenty plots inventory and destructive sampling of eight trees were conducted in 12-, 19-, 34-, 48- and 58-year-old Mongolian pine stands of China. Allometric biomass equations (ABEs) for tree components were established and used to determine the magnitude and distribution of tree biomass and carbon density. The carbon density of the understory, forest floor and soil was also determined. The ABEs with age as the second variable could simply and accurately determine the biomass of plantation tree branches, foliage and fruit, which were considerably influenced by age. With increasing stand age, the proportion of stem biomass to total tree biomass increased from 22.2% in the 12-year-old stand to 54.2% in the 58-year-old stand, and the proportion of understory biomass to total ecosystem biomass decreased, with values of 7.5%, 4.6%, 4.4%, 4.1% and 3.0% in the five stands. The biomass of the forest floor was 0.00, 1.12, 2.04, 6.69 and 3.65 Mg ha−1 in the five stands. The ecosystem carbon density was 40.2, 73.4, 92.9, 89.9 and 87.3 Mg ha−1 in the 12-, 19-, 34-, 48-, and 58-year-old stands, in which soil carbon density accounted for the largest proportion, with values of 67.4%, 76.8%, 73.2%, 63.4%, and 57.7% respectively. The Mongolian pine had the potential for carbon sequestration during its development, especially in the early stages, however, in the later growth stage, the ecosystem carbon density decreased slightly. A chronically elevated glucocorticoid level impairs memory and cognition. Manninotriose is the main oligosaccharide of Prepared Radix Rehmanniae, and Astragaloside IV (AS-IV) is the primary ingredient of Astragali Radix; they have been reported to possess neuroprotective effects. The aim of the present study was to investigate the protective effects of Manninotriose and AS-IV on corticosterone (CORT) induced neurotoxicity and the underlying mechanisms. Primary cultured hippocampal neurons from newborn Sprague Dawley rats were treated with CORT in the absence or presence of Manninotriose and AS-IV. Cell Counting Kit-8 experiments and fluorescein diacetate (FDA)/propidium iodide (PI) double staining were conducted to assess the activity and survival rate of neurons. Quantitative Real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and western blot analysis were performed to detect the expression of glucocorticoid receptor (GR), zinc finger protein (Zif268) and synapsin 1 (SYN1). DNA methylation of the gene promoter was assessed by bisulfite sequencing (BSP) analysis. The results demonstrated that pre-treatment with Manninotriose and AS-IV significantly improved cell viability and survival rate, and ameliorated the downregulation of GR, Zif268 and SYN1 genes in CORT injured neurons. BSP analysis revealed that CORT was able to improve the CpG island methylation rate of SYN1. AS-IV was observed to decrease the hypermethylation of the SYN1 gene induced by CORT. The results of the present study indicated that Manninotriose and AS-IV may have a protective effect against CORT-induced damage and the downregulation of learning and memory associated genes in hippocampal neurons. Regulation of DNA methylation may be important in the pharmaceutical activities of AS-IV. Thus, Manninotriose and AS-IV may be effective agents against learning and memory impairment.
