Worldwide, the number of individuals suffering from visual impairment, as well as those affected by blindness, is about 600 million and it will further increase in the coming decades. These diseases also seriously affect the quality of life in working-age individuals. Beyond the characterization of metabolic, genetic, and environmental factors related to ocular pathologies, it is important to verify how lifestyle may participate in the induction of the molecular pathways underlying these diseases. On the other hand, scientific studies are also contributing to investigations as to whether lifestyle could intervene in modulating pathophysiological cellular responses, including the production of metabolites and neurohormonal factors, through the intake of natural compounds capable of interfering with molecular mechanisms that lead to ocular diseases. Nutraceuticals are promising in ameliorating pathophysiological complications of ocular disease such as inflammation and neurodegeneration. Moreover, it is important to characterize the nutritional patterns and/or natural compounds that may be beneficial against certain ocular diseases. The adherence to the Mediterranean diet (MeDi) is proposed as a promising intervention for the prevention and amelioration of several eye diseases. Several characteristic compounds and micronutrients of MeDi, including vitamins, carotenoids, flavonoids, and omega-3 fatty acids, are proposed as adjuvants against several ocular diseases. In this review, we focus on studies that analyze the effects of MeDi in ameliorating diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. The analysis of knowledge in this field is requested in order to provide direction on recommendations for nutritional interventions aimed to prevent and ameliorate ocular diseases. Mycorrhizal fungi, a category of fungi that form symbiotic relationships with plant roots, can participate in the induction of plant disease resistance by secreting phosphatase enzymes. While extensive research exists on the mechanisms by which mycorrhizal fungi induce resistance, the specific contributions of phosphatases to these processes require further elucidation. This article reviews the spectrum of mycorrhizal fungi-induced resistance mechanisms and synthesizes a current understanding of how phosphatases mediate these effects, such as the induction of defense structures in plants, the negative regulation of plant immune responses, and the limitation of pathogen invasion and spread. Long-term excessive use of fertilizers and intensive cultivation not only decreases soil organic carbon (SOC) and productivity, but also increases greenhouse gas emissions, which is detrimental to sustainable agricultural development. The purpose of this paper is to identify organic amendments suitable for winter wheat growth in the North China Plain by studying the effects of organic amendments on the economic benefits, carbon emissions, and carbon sequestration for winter wheat fields and to provide a theoretical basis for the wide application of organic amendments in agricultural fields. The two nitrogen rates were N0 (0 kg ha−1) and N240 (240 kg ha−1), and the four organic amendments were straw, manure, mushroom residue (M R), and biochar. The results showed that, compared to N0, N240 significantly increased the yield by 244.1–318.4% and the organic carbon storage by 16.7–30.5%, respectively, but increased the carbon emissions by 29.3–45.5%. In addition, soil carbon stocks increased with all three types of organic amendments compared to the straw amendment, with the biochar treatment being the largest, increasing carbon storage by 13.3–33.6%. In terms of yield and economic benefits, compared to the straw amendment, the manure and biochar amendments increased winter wheat yields by 0.0–1.5% and 4.0–13.3%, respectively, and M R slightly decreased wheat yield; only the economic benefit of the M R amendment was greater than that of the straw amendment, with an increase in economic benefit of 1.3% and 8.2% in the 2021–2022 and 2022–2023 seasons, respectively. Furthermore, according to the net ecosystem productivity (NEP), N0 was the source of CO2, while N240 was a sink of CO2. The TOPSIS results showed that N240 with a mushroom residue amendment could be recommended for increasing soil carbon stocks and economic benefits for winter wheat in the NCP and similar regions. A paramagnetic A3B-type Mn(III)-porphyrin was synthesized and characterized by physical–chemical methods (UV-Vis, FT-IR, 1H-NMR spectroscopy). The obtained compound was tested as a sensitive material for the spectrophotometric and potentiometric detection of iodine species. Using UV-Vis spectroscopy, the triiodide anions could be detected with high precision in the concentration interval of 1.02 × 10−5 to 2.3 × 10−5 M, with an LOD of 9.44 × 10−6 M. The PVC-based electrode using DOP as a plasticizer showed a sensitivity toward iodide in a wide concentration range of 1.0 × 10−5 to 1.0 × 10−1 M, with an LOD of 8.0 × 10−6 M. With the rapid advancement of the flexible electronics industry, there is an urgent need to enhance the mechanical properties and thermal stability of flexible electronic devices to expand their range of applications. To address this need, flexible conductive composites have been developed using waterborne polyurethane (WPU) as the matrix, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene (GA) as conductive fillers, and incorporating cellulose nanofibers (CNFs). The carbon fillers create a conductive and thermal conductivity network within the matrix, while the presence of CNFs improves the dispersion of CNTs and GA, thereby enhancing the overall network structure. The resulting WGNF composites exhibit a resistivity of up to 1.05 × 104 Ω·cm, a tensile strength of 26.74 MPa, and a thermal conductivity of 0.494 W/(m·K). This demonstrates that incorporating cellulose offers an effective solution for producing high-performance polymeric conductive and thermally conductive composites, showing promising potential for flexible wearable devices. In recent decades, the rising wastewater output from industrial pollution has inflicted severe harm on both surface and groundwater, leading to substantial environmental damage. The elimination of harmful, toxic materials and wastewater remediation are pressing global concerns and pose a formidable challenge for scientists worldwide. Heterogeneous photocatalysis has been recognized as a promising, effective, energy-free, and eco-friendly process capable of completely degrading various organic pollutants. Finding a material that simultaneously satisfies various thermodynamic and kinetic criteria, coupled with good thermal- and photo-stability, is a challenging task necessitating the modification of existing materials or the synthesis of new ones to meet the required standards. This present study comprehensibly elaborates on different approaches to the modification of various photocatalytic systems, both organic and inorganic, in order to obtain more efficient and feasible catalysts for practical applications. In addition, the current status of the application of photocatalysts in dye wastewater treatment is summarized, projecting the future direction for wastewater management by photocatalytic processes. Soil hydrology seriously affects the prevention of desertification in karst areas. However, water infiltration in the different soil layers of secondary forests and artificial forests in karst areas remains uncertain. This lack of clarity is also the factor that constrains local vegetation restoration. Therefore, monitoring and simulating the priority transport of soil moisture will help us understand the shallow soil moisture transport patterns after artificial vegetation restoration in the local area, providing a reference for more scientific restoration of the ecological environment and enhancement of carbon storage in karst areas. The integration of soil physical property assessments, computed tomography (CT) scanning, dye tracing studies, and HYDRUS-2D modeling was utilized to evaluate and contrast the attributes of soil macropores and the phenomenon of preferential flow across various forestland categories. This approach allowed for a comprehensive analysis of how the soil structure and water movement are influenced by different forest ecosystems and infiltration head simulations (5 mm, 15 mm, 35 mm, and 55 mm) to elucidate the dynamics of water movement across diverse soil types within karst regions, to identify the causes of water leakage due to preferential flow in secondary forests, and to understand the mechanisms of water conservation and reduction in artificial forests adopting a multifaceted approach. This study demonstrated that (1) the soil hydrological capacity of a plantation forest was 20% higher than a natural forest, which may be promoted by the clay content and distribution. (2) Afforestation-enhanced soils in karst regions demonstrate a significant capacity to mitigate the loss of clay particles during episodes of preferential flow and then improve the soil erosion resistance by about 5 times, which can effectively control desertification in karst area. (3) The uniform distribution of macropores in plantation forest soil was conducive to prevent water leakage more effectively than the secondary forest but was incapable of hindering the occurrence of preferential flow. The secondary forest had a very developed preferential flow phenomenon, and soil clay deposition occurred with an increase in depth. (4) Moreover, the results for preferential flow showed that the matrix flow depth did not increase with the increase in water quantity. Short-term and high-intensity heavy rainfall events facilitated the occurrence of preferential flow. Infiltration along the horizontal and vertical directions occurred simultaneously. These results could facilitate a further understanding of the contribution of the plantation to soil amelioration and the prevention of desertification in karst areas, and provide some suggestions for the sustainable development of forestry in karst areas where plantation restoration is an important ingredient. Autophagy, an evolutionarily conserved cellular mechanism essential for maintaining internal stability, plays a crucial function in female reproductive ability. In this review, we discuss the complex interplay between autophagy and several facets of female reproductive health, encompassing pregnancy, ovarian functions, gynecologic malignancies, endometriosis, and infertility. Existing research emphasizes the crucial significance of autophagy in embryo implantation, specifically in the endometrium, highlighting its necessity in ensuring proper fetal development. Although some knowledge has been gained, there is still a lack of research on the specific molecular impacts of autophagy on the quality of oocytes, the growth of follicles, and general reproductive health. Autophagy plays a role in the maturation, quality, and development of oocytes. It is also involved in reproductive aging, contributing to reductions in reproductive function that occur with age. This review explores the physiological functions of autophagy in the female reproductive system, its participation in reproductive toxicity, and its important connections with the endometrium and embryo. In addition, this study investigates the possibility of emerging treatment approaches that aim to modify autophagy, using both natural substances and synthetic molecules, to improve female fertility and reproductive outcomes. Additionally, this review intends to inspire future exploration into the intricate role of autophagy in female reproductive health by reviewing recent studies and pinpointing areas where current knowledge is lacking. Subsequent investigations should prioritize the conversion of these discoveries into practical uses in the medical field, which could potentially result in groundbreaking therapies for infertility and other difficulties related to reproduction. To further improve the sealing effect of electrochemical polarization (EP) on the CrN coatings, the EP treatment at different cycle numbers was conducted. The microstructure, mechanical, and tribological properties of CrN coatings were investigated. Findings indicated an elevation in oxygen content from 6.32% to 12.35% with increasing cycle number from 10 to 60 times, yet the crystal structure of CrN (111) and CrN (200) persisted. The X-ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) revealed that a minimal quantity of oxides was produced. This led to a decrease in the coatings porosity from 16.79% to 5.83%. For this reason, the hardness of CrN coatings increased with a maximum degree of 18.3%, whilst the wear rate decreased with a maximum degree of 37.5% at the cycle number of 20 times. Plant glutathione peroxidases (GPXs) are important enzymes for removing reactive oxygen species in plant cells and are closely related to the stress resistance of plants. This study identified the GPX gene family members of pepper (Capsicum annuum L.), "CM333", at the whole-genome level to clarify their expression patterns and enzyme activity changes under abiotic stress and ABA treatment. The results showed that eight CaGPX genes were unevenly distributed across four chromosomes and one scaffold of the pepper genome, and their protein sequences had Cys residues typical of the plant GPX domains. The analysis of collinearity, phylogenetic tree, gene structure, and conserved motifs indicated that the CaGPX gene sequence is conserved, structurally similar, and more closely related to the sequence structure of Arabidopsis. Meanwhile, many cis elements involved in stress, hormones, development, and light response were found in the promoter region of the CaGPX gene. In addition, CaGPX1/4 and CaGPX6 were basically expressed in all tissues, and their expression levels were significantly upregulated under abiotic stress and ABA treatment. Subcellular localization showed that CaGPX1 and CaGPX4 are localized in chloroplasts. Additionally, the variations in glutathione peroxidase activity (GSH-Px) mostly agreed with the variations in gene expression. Product quality is a key factor affecting consumers' willingness to buy, providing greater advantages to an enterprise than product price. This paper investigates the impact of two factors, price and quality, on the operational decisions of hybrid competing supply chains. Supply chain I, which consists of a manufacturer and a retailer, is a decentralized structure. Supply chain II, where the manufacturer and retailer are integrated, is a centralized structure. Quality investment and vertical shareholding are introduced into the decentralized supply chain. Models are constructed for three different scenarios, examining whether the manufacturer makes a quality investment and whether the retailer holds shares in the quality investment. By comparing the equilibrium results, solved by the Stackelberg game method, the following conclusions are drawn: (1) Quality investment and shareholding can enhance product quality and price. (2) The retail price in a centralized supply chain is consistently lower than that in a decentralized one, leading to generally higher total profits for centralized supply chain. (3) The total profit of the decentralized supply chain only exceeds that of the centralized ones when the degree of substitution between products is lower than 0.6285 and the quality effort cost factor is within a specific range. Deoxynivalenol (DON) is a mycotoxin produced by Fusarium fungi widespread in wheat, corn, barley and other grain crops, posing the potential for being toxic to human and animal health, especially in the small intestine, which is the primary target organ for defense against the invasion of toxins. This study firstly investigated DON contamination in a local area of a wheat production district in China. Subsequently, the mechanism of DON toxicity was analyzed through cellular molecular biology combining with intestinal flora and gene transcription analysis; the results indicated that DON exposure can decrease IPEC−J2 cell viability and antioxidant capacity, stimulate the secretion and expression of proinflammatory factors, destroy the gut microbiota and affect normal functions of the body. It is illustrated that DON could induce intestinal damage through structural damage, functional injury and even intestinal internal environment disturbance, and, also, these intestinal toxicity effects are intrinsically interrelated. The Zhegu area in southern Tibet is situated in the central and eastern part of the Tethys Himalayan tectonic belt, with the Kangbuzhenri area being abundant in gneissic granites. This study examines the petrology, chronology, and geochemistry of the Kangbuzhenri gneissic granite, providing insights into its Pan-African and Early Paleozoic geological evolution. The zircon U-Pb chronology indicates an upper intercept age of ~539 Ma, reflecting Pan-African orogenic events in the eastern part of the Tethys Himalayan tectonic belt, and a lower intercept age of ~144 Ma, representing a late tectonic–thermal event. Geochemically, the gneissic granites are calc-alkaline peraluminous rocks with high SiO2 and Al2O3 contents and low TiO2, P2O5, MgO, and FeOT contents. The gneissic granites are enriched in LREE and LILEs (Rb, Pb, Th, U, etc.), but relatively depleted in HREE and HFSEs (Nb, Ti, P, etc.). Most of them show a weak negative δEu anomaly, except for two samples which show a significant negative δEu anomaly due to the crystallization of plagioclase. Based on the above study, most of the gneissic granites exhibited the characteristics of an I-type granite, while two of the samples were a highly differentiated I-type granite with S-type affinities. All the above characteristics indicate that the gneissic granite likely originated from the partial melting of crustal materials and sediments with a minor involvement of mantle-derived materials. Combined with the previous chronological studies, the Kangbuzhenri gneissic granites were formed in an extensional tectonic environment during post-collision orogeny and then they were influenced by the Kerguelen mantle plume tectonic–thermal event around ~144 Ma and the subsequent Southern Tibet Detachment System (STDS). Ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI) represents a significant contributor to morbidity and mortality associated with various clinical conditions, including acute coronary syndrome, stroke, and organ transplantation. During ischemia, a profound hypoxic insult develops, resulting in cellular dysfunction and tissue damage. Paradoxically, reperfusion can exacerbate this injury through the generation of reactive oxygen species and the induction of inflammatory cascades. The extensive clinical sequelae of IRI necessitate the development of therapeutic strategies to mitigate its deleterious effects. This has become a cornerstone of ongoing research efforts in both basic and translational science. This review examines the use of molecular hydrogen for IRI in different organs and explores the underlying mechanisms of its action. Molecular hydrogen is a selective antioxidant with anti-inflammatory, cytoprotective, and signal-modulatory properties. It has been shown to be effective at mitigating IRI in different models, including heart failure, cerebral stroke, transplantation, and surgical interventions. Hydrogen reduces IRI via different mechanisms, like the suppression of oxidative stress and inflammation, the enhancement of ATP production, decreasing calcium overload, regulating cell death, etc. Further research is still needed to integrate the use of molecular hydrogen into clinical practice. Valves are prone to wear under harsh environments, such as high temperatures and reciprocating impacts, which has become one of the most severe factors reducing the service life of engines. As a lightweight ceramic, CrN is considered an excellent protective material with high-temperature strength and resistance to wear. In this study, a CrN coating was applied onto the valve cone surface via double-layer glow plasma surface metallurgy technology. The formation process, microstructure, phase composition, hardness, and adhesion strength were analyzed in detail. Impact wear tests were conducted on the valve using a bench test device. The SEM and EDS results showed that the CrN coating evolved from an island-like form to a dense, cell-shaped surface structure. The thickness of the coating was approximately 46 μm and could be divided into a deposition layer and a diffusion layer, from the outer to the inner sections. The presence of element gradients within the diffusion layer proved that the coating and substrate were metallurgically bonded. The adhesion strength of the CrN coating measured via scratch method was as high as 72 N. The average Vickers hardness of the valve cone surface increased from 377.1 HV0.5 to 903.1 HV0.5 following the plasma alloying treatment. After 2 million impacts at 12,000 N and 650 °C, adhesive wear emerged as the primary wear mode of the CrN coating, with an average wear depth of 42.93 μm and a wear amount of 23.49 mg. Meanwhile, the valve substrate exhibited a mixed wear mode of adhesive wear and abrasive wear, with an average wear depth of 118.23 μm and a wear amount of 92.66 mg, being 63.7% and 74.6% higher than those of the coating. Thus, the CrN coating showed excellent impact wear resistance, which contributed to the enhancement of the service life of the valve in harsh environments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Tunnels serve as vital arteries in the realm of transportation and infrastructure, facilitating the seamless flow of movement across challenging terrains. With the increasing demand experienced by the traffic network on the Tibetan Plateau, deep-buried, lengthy tunnels have become one of the extremely important types of roads for local residents to pass through. Geological disaster susceptibility mapping by hybrid models has been proven to be an effective means to reduce the losses caused by disasters in a large area. However, there has been relatively little research conducted in tunnel areas with significant human activity. To explore the feasibility of conducting geological disaster susceptibility assessment in tunnel areas, we chose the Atal Tunnel as a study project; as a strategic passageway, this exemplifies the significant geological hurdles encountered on the Tibetan Plateau. Employing multi-source remote sensing data, we meticulously mapped the distribution of geological disasters and identified nine environmental and geological variables pivotal for susceptibility evaluation. We harnessed interpretable ensemble learning models to assess this susceptibility, comparing the efficacy of four distinct models: the weight of evidence method (WoE), the frequency ratio (FR), logistic regression (LR) and the support vector machine (SVM). The precision of our findings was rigorously tested using metrics such as the percentage of disaster area encompassed within each risk level, the Area Under the Curve (AUC) value, and the Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve, and all results were highly accurate. Notably, the WoE-LR model achieved superior performance, boasting an impressive accuracy rate of 90.7%. Through model interpretation, we discerned that the alignment of the road line is the most critical determinant in the evaluation of tunnel geological disaster susceptibility, underscoring the high precision of our model. The extension and successful application of this research in plateau areas hold profound implications for sustainable development. Moreover, the practical application of these research findings will provide a practical reference for the design and construction of projects in similar plateau areas, with positive outcomes that extend well beyond the immediate geographical area of the projects. Background: Thoracic duct ligation (TDL) during esophagectomy has been proposed to reduce the risk of postoperative chylothorax. Because of its role in immunoregulation, some authors argued that it had an unfavorable TDL effect on survival. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of TDL on overall survival (OS). Methods: PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus, and Web of Science were searched through December 2023. The primary outcome was 5-year OS. The restricted mean survival time difference (RMSTD), hazard ratios (HRs), and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were used as pooled effect size measures. The GRADE methodology was used to summarize the certainty of the evidence. Results: Five studies (3291 patients) were included. TDL was reported in 54% patients. The patients' age ranged from 49 to 69, 76% were males, and BMI ranged from 18 to 26. At the 5-year follow-up, the combined effect from the multivariate meta-analysis is -3.5 months (95% CI −6.1, −0.8) indicating that patients undergoing TDL lived 3.5 months less compared to those without TDL. TDL was associated with a significantly higher hazard for mortality at 12 months (HR 1.54, 95% CI 1.38–1.73), 24 months (HR 1.21, 95% CI 1.12–1.35), and 28 months (HR 1.14, 95% CI 1.02–1.28). TDL and noTDL seem comparable in terms of the postoperative risk for chylothorax (RR = 0.66; p = 0.35). Conclusions: In this study, concurrent TDL was associated with reduced 5-year OS after esophagectomy. This may suggest the need of a rigorous follow-up within the first two years of follow-up. In order to meet energy and environmental challenges, many countries will implement the replacement of fuel vehicles for the future clean energy transition; so, the number of electric vehicles (EVs) operating in cities will grow significantly. It is crucial to assess the risks of the electric vehicle supply chain (EVSC) and prevent them. Based on this, this paper proposes an EVSC risk research framework with combined weights and an improved matter-element extension model: (i) Firstly, the EVSC evaluation index system is constructed from the six stages of supply chain planning, sales, procurement, manufacturing, distribution, after-sales, and external risks. (ii) The subjective and objective weights are calculated by the decision laboratory method and entropy weight method, respectively, and then the minimum deviation method is used for a combined design to overcome the defects of a single method. (iii) An improved matter-element extension model (MEEM) is constructed by introducing asymmetric proximity degree and risk bias. (iv) The model is applied to a case study and its feasibility and superiority are verified through sensitivity analysis and comparative analysis. The final results show that the method and framework proposed in this paper are in line with EVSC risk assessment standards and superior to other models, which can help EVSC managers to identify potential risks, formulate appropriate risk prevention measures, promote the stable development of electric vehicles, and provide a reference for the development of energy and environment. Radiation-induced heart disease (RIHD), a common side effect of chest irradiation, is a primary cause of mortality among patients surviving thoracic cancer. Thus, the development of novel, clinically applicable cardioprotective agents which can alleviate the harmful effects of irradiation on the heart is of great importance in the field of experimental oncocardiology. Biglycan and decorin are structurally related small leucine-rich proteoglycans which have been reported to exert cardioprotective properties in certain cardiovascular pathologies. Therefore, in the present study we aimed to examine if biglycan or decorin can reduce radiation-induced damage of cardiomyocytes. A single dose of 10 Gray irradiation was applied to induce radiation-induced cell damage in H9c2 cardiomyoblasts, followed by treatment with either biglycan or decorin at various concentrations. Measurement of cell viability revealed that both proteoglycans improved the survival of cardiac cells post-irradiation. The cardiocytoprotective effect of both biglycan and decorin involved the alleviation of radiation-induced proapoptotic mechanisms by retaining the progression of apoptotic membrane blebbing and lowering the number of apoptotic cell nuclei and DNA double-strand breaks. Halide perovskite Cs3Bi2Br9 (CBB) has excellent potential in photocatalysis due to its promising light-harvesting properties. However, its photocatalytic performance might be limited due to the unfavorable charge carrier migration and water-induced properties, which limit the stability and photocatalytic performance. Therefore, we address this constraint in this work by synthesizing a stable halide perovskite heterojunction by introducing hydrogen titanate nanosheets (H2Ti3O7-NS, HTiO-NS). Optimizing the weight % (wt%) of CBB enables synthesizing the optimal CBB/HTiO-NS, CBHTNS heterostructure. The detailed morphology and structure characterization proved that the cubic shape of CBB is anchored on the HTiO-NS surface. The 30 wt% CBB/HTiO-NS-30 (CBHTNS-30) heterojunction showed the highest BnOH photooxidation performance with 98% conversion and 75% benzoic acid (BzA) selectivity at 2 h under blue light irradiation. Detailed optical and photoelectrochemical characterization showed that the incorporating CBB and HTiO-NS widened the range of the visible-light response and improved the ability to separate the photo-induced charge carriers. The presence of HTiO-NS has increased the oxidative properties, possibly by charge separation in the heterojunction, which facilitated the generation of superoxide and hydroxyl radicals. A possible reaction pathway for the photocatalytic oxidation of BnOH to BzH and BzA was also suggested. Furthermore, through scavenger experiments, we found that the photogenerated h+, e− and •O2− play an essential role in the BnOH photooxidation, while the •OH have a minor effect on the reaction. The nephrite belt in the Altun Mountain–Western Kunlun Mountain region, which extends about 1300 km in Xinjiang, NW China, is the largest nephrite deposit in the world. The Qiemo region in the Altun Mountains is a crucial nephrite-producing area in China, with demonstrated substantial prospects for future exploration. While existing research has extensively investigated secondary nephrite deposits in the Karakash River and native black nephrite deposits in Guangxi Dahua, a comprehensive investigation of black nephrite from original deposits in Xinjiang is lacking. Margou black-toned nephrite was recently found in primary deposits in Qiemo County, Xinjiang; this makes in-depth research on the characteristics of this mine necessary. A number of technical analytical methods such as polarizing microscopy, Ultra-Deep Three-Dimensional Microscope, electron microprobe, back-scattered electron image analysis, X-ray fluorescence, and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry were employed for this research. An experimental test was conducted to elucidate the chemical and mineralogical composition, further clarifying the genetic types of the black and black cyan nephrite from the Margou deposit in Qiemo, Xinjiang. The results reveal that the nephrite is mainly composed of tremolite–actinolite, characterized by Mg/(Mg + Fe2+) ratios ranging from 0.86 to 1.0. Minor minerals include diopside, epidote, pargasite, apatite, zircon, pyrite, and magnetite. Bulk-rock rare earth element (REE) patterns exhibit distinctive features, such as negative Eu anomalies (δEu = 0.00–0.17), decreasing light REEs, a relatively flat distribution of heavy REEs, and low total REE concentrations (1.6–38.9 μg/g); furthermore, the Cr (6–21 μg/g) and Ni (2.5–4.5 μg/g) contents are remarkably low. The magmatic influence of granite appears to be a fundamental factor in the genesis of the magnesian skarn hosting Margou nephrite. The distinctive black and black cyan colors are attributed to heightened iron content, mainly associated with FeO (0.08~6.29 wt.%). It is well known that daidzein has various significant medicinal values and health benefits, such as anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, cholesterol lowering, neuroprotective, cardioprotective and so on. To our disappointment, poor solubility, low permeability and inferior bioavailability seriously limit its clinical application and market development. To optimize the solubility, permeability and bioavailability of daidzein, the cocrystal of daidzein and piperazine was prepared through a scientific and reasonable design, which was thoroughly characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis. Combining single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis with theoretical calculation, detailed structural information on the cocrystal was clarified and validated. In addition, a series of evaluations on the pharmacogenetic properties of the cocrystal were investigated. The results indicated that the cocrystal of daidzein and piperazine possessed the favorable stability, increased solubility, improved permeability and optimized bioavailability of daidzein. Compared with the parent drug, the formation of cocrystal, respectively, resulted in 3.9-, 3.1-, 4.9- and 60.8-fold enhancement in the solubility in four different media, 4.8-fold elevation in the permeability and 3.2-fold in the bioavailability of daidzein. Targeting the pharmaceutical defects of daidzein, the surprising elevation in the solubility, permeability and bioavailability of daidzein was realized by a clever cocrystal strategy, which not only devoted assistance to the market development and clinical application of daidzein but also paved a new path to address the drug-forming defects of insoluble drugs. Since the commencement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), renewable energy has faced many challenges in reaching the target of SDGs, while the potential ecological impact on the environment cannot be ignored. The expansion of photovoltaic (PV) networks is raising concerns regarding the potential impact of large-scale PV power stations on local ecosystems. However, a comprehensive understanding of the specific responses of vegetation and soil factors to PV con-struction across different study locations is still lacking. To address this knowledge gap, we con-ducted a comprehensive meta-analysis of 28 studies internationally representing 31 observational points that evaluated 432 different vegetation and soil factor responses to the installation of PV power stations. We used piecewiseSEM to explore the responses of predictors/factors to the eco-logical environment. This study investigated the geographical and environmental conditions associated with PV construction and their responses to vegetation and soil factors, considering the advantages and disadvantages of PV power station construction in different ecosystems. The results indicate that (1) the response of the ecosystems to PV power station construction increased by 58.89%. Among these, the most significant improvement is in the desert, which accounts for 77.26%. Im-provement in temperate regions is 59.62%, while there is a decrease of 19.78% in boreal regions. Improvement in arid regions is 84.45%, while improvement in humid regions is 9.84%. (2) PV construction promotes SWC, vegetation diversity, vegetation coverage, and vegetation biomass, significantly enhancing vegetation productivity. (3) Among the different ecosystems, PV power station effects were most significant in deserts, while showing negative impacts on croplands. (4) Compared to below-panel treatments, between-panel treatments were more effective in improving ecological conditions. Liver cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in males. It is estimated that approximately one million deaths will occur by 2030 due to hepatic cancer. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most prevalent primary liver cancer subtype and is commonly diagnosed at an advanced stage. The drug arsenal used in systemic therapy for HCC is very limited. Multikinase inhibitors sorafenib (Nexavar®) and lenvatinib (Lenvima®) have been used as first-line drugs with modest therapeutic effects. In this scenario, it is imperative to search for new therapeutic strategies for HCC. Herein, the antiproliferative activity of N-acylhydrazone derivatives was evaluated on HCC cells (HepG2 and Hep3B), which were chemically planned on the ALL-993 scaffold, a potent inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth factor 2 (VEGFR2). The substances efficiently reduced the viability of HCC cells, and the LASSBio-2052 derivative was the most effective. Further, we demonstrated that LASSBio-2052 treatment induced FOXM1 downregulation, which compromises the transcriptional activation of genes required for G2/M transition, such as AURKA and AURKB, PLK1, and CDK1. In addition, LASSBio-2052 significantly reduced CCNB1 and CCND1 expression in HCC cells. Our findings indicate that LASSBio-2052 is a promising prototype for further in vivo studies. MAX phases have great research value and application prospects, but it is challenging to synthesize the MAX phases containing Cd and Sb for the time being. In this paper, we confirmed the existence of the 312 MAX phases of Zr3CdC2 and Zr3SbC2, both from theoretical calculations and experimental synthesis. The Zr3AC2 (A = Cd, Sb) phase was predicted by the first-principles calculations, and the two MAX phases were confirmed to meet the requests of thermal, thermodynamic, and mechanical stabilities using formation energy, phonon dispersion, and the Born–Huang criteria. Their theoretical mechanical properties were also systematically investigated. It was found that the elastic moduli of Zr3CdC2 and Zr3SbC2 were 162.8 GPa and 164.3 GPa, respectively. Then, differences in the mechanical properties of Zr3AC2 (A = Cd, In, Sn, and Sb) were explained using bond layouts and charge transfers. The low theoretical Vickers hardness of the Zr3CdC2 (5.4 GPa) and Zr3SbC2 (4.3 GPa) phases exhibited excellent machinability. Subsequently, through spark plasma sintering, composites containing Zr3CdC2 and Zr3SbC2 phases were successfully synthesized at the temperatures of 850 °C and 1300 °C, respectively. The ovary plays a crucial role in the reproductive system of female animals. Ovarian problems such as ovarian insufficiency, premature aging, polycystic ovary syndrome, and ovarian cysts may lead to ovulation disorders, abnormal hormone secretion, or luteal dysfunction, thereby increasing the risk of infertility and abortion. Only when the ovarian function and other organs in the reproductive system remain healthy and work normally can female animals be ensured to carry out reproductive activities regularly, improve the pregnancy rate and litter size, promote the healthy development of the fetus, and then improve their economic value. The follicle, as the functional unit of the ovary, is composed of theca cells, granulosa cells (GCs), and oocytes. GCs are the largest cell population and main functional unit in follicles and provide the necessary nutrients for the growth and development of follicles. N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is a prevalent and cell-permeable antioxidant molecule that effectively prevents apoptosis and promotes cellular survival. Over the past few years, its function in boosting reproductive performance in animals at the cellular level has been widely acknowledged. However, its specific role and mechanism in influencing GCs is yet to be fully understood. The objective of this study was to examine the effects of NAC on ovarian damage in female rabbits. For this purpose, D-galactose (D-gal) was first used to establish a model of damaged GCs, with exposure to 1.5 mg/mL of D-gal leading to substantial damage. Subsequently, varying concentrations of NAC were introduced to determine the precise mechanism through which it influences cell damage. Based on the results of the Cell Counting Kit-8 assay, flow cytometry, and Western blotting, it was found that 0.5 mg/mL of NAC could significantly suppress cell apoptosis and promote proliferation. In particular, it decreased the expression levels of Bax, p53, and Caspase-9 genes, while concurrently upregulating the expression of the BCL-2 gene. Moreover, NAC was found to alleviate intracellular oxidative stress, suppress the discharge of mitochondrial Cytochrome c, and boost the enzymatic activities of CAT (Catalase), GSH (Glutathione), and SOD (Superoxide dismutase). RNA sequencing analysis subsequently underscored the critical role of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway in governing proliferation and apoptosis within GCs. These findings demonstrated that NAC could significantly influence gene expression within this pathway, thereby clarifying the exact relationship between the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling cascade and the underlying cellular processes controlling proliferation and apoptosis. In conclusion, NAC can reduce the expression of Bax, p53, and Caspase-9 genes, inhibit the apoptosis of GCs, improve cell viability, and resist D-gal-induced oxidative stress by increasing the activity of CAT, GSH, and SOD. Zearalenone (ZEA) is a common non-steroidal estrogenic mycotoxin found in a range of animal feeds and poses a serious threat to the reproductive health of farm animals and humans. However, the mechanism underlying ZEA-induced reproductive toxicity in sheep remains unknown. Granulosa cells are crucial for egg maturation and the fertility of female sheep. In this study, we aimed to examine the impact of different ZEA concentrations on sheep follicular granulosa cells and to elucidate the potential molecular mechanism underlying ZEA-induced toxicity using transcriptome sequencing and molecular biological approaches. Treating primary sheep follicular granulosa cells with different concentrations of ZEA promoted the overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS), increased lipid peroxidation products, led to cellular oxidative stress, decreased antioxidant enzyme activities, and induced cell apoptosis. Using transcriptome approaches, 1395 differentially expressed genes were obtained from sheep follicular granulosa cells cultured in vitro after ZEA treatment. Among them, heme oxygenase-1 (HMOX1) was involved in 11 biological processes. The protein interaction network indicated interactions between HMOX1 and oxidative and apoptotic proteins. In addition, N-acetylcysteine pretreatment effectively reduced the ZEA-induced increase in the expression of HMOX1 and Caspase3 by eliminating ROS. Hence, we suggest that HMOX1 is a key differential gene involved in the regulation of ZEA-induced oxidative stress and apoptosis in follicular granulosa cells. Due to issues with sample quality, there is an increasing interest in deep learning models that can handle noisy labels. Currently, the optimal way to deal with noisy labels is by combining robust active and passive loss functions. However, the weighting parameters for these functions are typically determined manually or through a large number of experimental iterations, and even the weighting parameters change as the dataset and the noisy rate change. This can lead to suboptimal results and be time-consuming. Therefore, we propose an adaptively weighted method for the combined active passive loss (APL) in remote sensing image retrieval with noisy labels. First, two metrics are selected to measure the noisy samples: the ratio of the entropy to the standard deviation and the difference of the predicted probabilities. Then, an adaptive weighted learning network with a hidden layer is designed to dynamically learn the weighting parameters. The network takes the above two metrics as inputs and is trained concurrently with the feature extraction network in each batch, without significantly increasing the computational complexity. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our improved APL method outperforms the original manually weighted APL method and other state-of-the-art robust loss methods while saving the time on manual parameter selection. DNA methylation (DNAm) is associated with the reproductive system. However, the genetic mechanism through which DNAm regulates gene expression and thus affects litter size in goats is unclear. Therefore, in the present work, genome-wide DNAm profiles of HP and LP Jining Grey goat ovary tissues were comprehensively analyzed via WGBS, and RNA-Seq data were combined to identify candidate genes associated with litter size traits in the Jining Grey goat. Finally, BSP and RT-qPCR were used to verify the sequencing results of the key genes. Notably, the DNMT genes were downregulated at the expression level in the HP group. Both groups exhibited comparable levels of methylation. A total of 976 differentially methylated regions (DMRs) (973 DMRs for CG and 3 DMRs for CHG) and 310 differentially methylated genes (DMGs) were identified in this study. Through integration of WGBS and RNA-Seq data, we identified 59 differentially methylated and differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and ultimately screened 8 key DMGs (9 DMRS) associated with litter size traits in Jining Grey goats (SERPINB2: chr24_62258801_62259000, NDRG4: chr18_27599201_27599400, CFAP43: chr26_27046601_27046800, LRP1B. chr2_79720201_79720400, EPHA6: chr1_40088601_40088800, TTC29: chr17_59385801_59386000, PDE11A: chr2_117418601_117418800 and PGF: chr10_ 16913801_16914000 and chr10_16916401_16916600). The robotic mobile fulfillment (RMF) system is a parts-to-picker warehousing system and a sustainable technology used in human–robot collaborative order picking. Storage location assignment (SLA) tactically benefits order-picking efficiency. Most studies focus on the retrieval efficiency of robots to solve SLA problems. To further consider the crucial role played by human pickers in RMF systems, especially in the context that the sustainable performance of human workers should be paid attention to in human–robot collaboration, we solve the SLA problem by aiming to improve human–robot collaborative order-picking efficiency. This study specifically makes decisions on assigning multiple items of various products to the slots of pods in the RMF system, in which human behavioral factors are taken into account. To obtain the solution in one mathematical model, we propose the heuristic algorithm under a two-stage optimization method. The results show that assigning correlated products to pods improves the retrieval efficiency of robots compared to class-based assignment. We also find that assigning items of each product to slots of pods, considering behavioral factors, benefits the operation efficiency of human pickers compared to random assignment. Cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) plays a crucial role in the utilization of heterosis. The petaloid anther abortion in oil tea (Camellia oleifera Abel.) constitutes a CMS phenomenon, which is of great value for the hybrid breeding of oil tea. However, as the mechanism of its CMS is still poorly understood, it is necessary to study the cytology and physiological characteristics of anther abortion. In this study, a C. oleifera cultivar, Huashuo (HS), and its petalized CMS mutant (HSP) were used as materials to explore this mechanism. Compared with HS, cytological analysis demonstrated that HSP showed early-onset tapetum programmed cell death (PCD) and an organelle disorder phenotype during the tetrad stage. In HSP, anthers exhibited elevated levels of calcium deposition in anther wall tissues, tapetum layers, and microspores, and yet calcium accumulation was abnormal at the later stage. The contents of hydrogen peroxide and MDA in HSP anthers were higher, and the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), and catalase (CAT) were lower than those of HS, which resulted in an excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Real-time quantitative PCR confirmed that the transcription levels of CoPOD and CoCAT genes encoding key antioxidant enzymes in HSP were downregulated compared with HS in early pollen development; the gene CoCPK, which encodes a calcium-dependent protein kinase associated with antioxidase, was upregulated during the critical period. Thus, we suggest that excessive ROS as a signal breaks the balance of the antioxidant system, and along with an abnormal distribution of calcium ions, leads to the early initiation of PCD in the tapetum, and ultimately leads to pollen abortion for HSP. Nanotechnology has advanced the techniques for elucidating phenomena at the atomic, molecular, and nano-level. As a post nanotechnology concept, nanoarchitectonics has emerged to create functional materials from unit structures. Consider the material function when nanoarchitectonics enables the design of materials whose internal structure is controlled at the nanometer level. Material function is determined by two elements. These are the functional unit that forms the core of the function and the environment (matrix) that surrounds it. This review paper discusses the nanoarchitectonics of confined space, which is a field for controlling functional materials and molecular machines. The first few sections introduce some of the various dynamic functions in confined spaces, considering molecular space, materials space, and biospace. In the latter two sections, examples of research on the behavior of molecular machines, such as molecular motors, in confined spaces are discussed. In particular, surface space and internal nanospace are taken up as typical examples of confined space. What these examples show is that not only the central functional unit, but also the surrounding spatial configuration is necessary for higher functional expression. Fat has a high energy density, and excessive fatness has been recognized as a problem for egg production and the welfare of chickens. The identification of a genetic polymorphism controlling fat deposition would be helpful to select against excessive fatness in the laying hen. This study aimed to estimate genomic heritability and identify the genetic architecture of abdominal fat deposition in a population of chickens from a Dongxiang blue-shelled local breed crossbred with the White Leghorn. A genome-wide association study was conducted on abdominal fat percentage, egg production and body weights using a sample of 1534 hens genotyped with a 600 K Chicken Genotyping Array. The analysis yielded a heritability estimate of 0.19 ± 0.04 for abdominal fat percentage; 0.56 ± 0.04 for body weight at 72 weeks; 0.11 ± 0.03 for egg production; and 0.24 ± 0.04 for body weight gain. The genetic correlation of abdominal fat percentage with egg production between 60 and 72 weeks of age was −0.35 ± 0.18. This implies a potential trade-off between these two traits related to the allocation of resources. Strong positive genetic correlations were found between fat deposition and weight traits. A promising locus close to COL12A1 on chromosome 3, associated with abdominal fat percent, was found in the present study. Another region located around HTR2A on chromosome 1, where allele substitution was predicted to be associated with body weight gain, accounted for 2.9% of phenotypic variance. Another region located on chromosome 1, but close to SOX5, was associated with egg production. These results may be used to influence the balanced genetic selection for laying hens. Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a halophilic and heat-labile gram-negative bacterium and is the most prevalent foodborne bacterium in seafood. In order to develop a rapid and sensitive method for detecting the foodborne pathogenic bacterium Vibrio parahaemolyticus, an aptamer-modified magnetic nanoparticle and an aptamer-modified upconversion nanoparticle were synthesised and used as a capture probe and a signal probe, respectively. The aptamer-modified magnetic nanoparticle, V. parahaemolyticus cell, and aptamer-modified upconversion nanoparticle formed a sandwich-like complex, which was rapidly separated from a complex matrix using a magnetic force, and the bacterial concentration was determined by fluorescence intensity analysis. The results showed that the fluorescence intensity signal correlated positively with the concentration of V. parahaemolyticus in the range of 3.2 × 102 to 3.2 × 105 CFU/mL, with a linear equation of y = 296.40x − 217.67 and a correlation coefficient of R2 = 0.9610. The detection limit of the developed method was 4.4 CFU/mL. There was no cross-reactivity with other tested foodborne pathogens. The effects of long-term monocropping systems combined with climate on soil water aggregate stability (WSA) and soil fertility in the karst region of Southwest China (KRSWC) are unclear. Our research was conducted in the KRSWC, wherein tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) production is characterized by heavy fertilization and continuous monocropping. The tobacco fields in the study area have similar soil types and fertilization and tillage practices and are spread over an area of 11,500 km2. A total of 568 topsoil samples were collected in 2021. Soil fertility was reflected using the soil fertility index (SFI), which was calculated using the minimum data set method with six soil fertility-related factors, namely, soil pH, soil organic matter, cation exchange capacity, available nitrogen, available phosphorus, and available potassium. Results showed that long-term planting generally promoted soil fertility levels and WSA content. WSA and SFI had inconsistent spatial distribution patterns likely due to different climate-driven effects. WSA variability was greatly controlled by precipitation (Spearman correlation coefficient [r] = −0.49, p < 0.01), whereas SFI variability was mostly dominated by temperature (r = −0.36, p < 0.01). The levels of SFI and WSA were optimal under conditions of low temperature and precipitation and poor under conditions of high temperature and precipitation. Moreover, long-term planting could alleviate the negative effects of climate on SFI and WSA in the KRSWC. The ecological environment in southwestern China is fragile. Due to the significant preferential flow in vertical and horizontal directions and poor water conservation ability, vegetation degradation still exists under conditions of abundant rainfall. Therefore, the pore connectivity and infiltration characteristics in shallow soil under typical local vegetation need to be studied. A calculation model for the vertical connectivity of soil macropores was independently constructed, and differences in soil macropore structures and the degree of vertical connectivity in typical vegetation types (natural secondary forest, natural grassland, Yunnan pine plantation, eucalyptus plantation, cypress plantation, mulberry bushes) were investigated by CT scanning technology of undisturbed soil columns. The results showed that the vertical connectivity of large pores in the shallow soil of the region can be quantitatively described by X-ray tomography, and the total surface area and cumulative curvature of macropores in natural grassland soil were two or three times that in artificial vegetation. The concentration area of macropores in the soil of artificial forestland was closer to the surface, and the tendency of macropore preferred path decreased by 76.18% around 30 cm depth in the soil. The vertical connection of soil macropores in artificial forests was significantly lower than that of natural secondary forestlands (33.03%) and natural grasslands (36.75%). The restoration of the plantation improved surface soil pore structure, and the vertical connectivity of soil is nearly 20% less than that of natural vegetation types (natural secondary forestland, natural grassland), which reduced water outflow rate by nearly 44% and electrolyte content by nearly 14% at a depth of 30 cm. This study provided data and research directions for the study of hydrological processes in local forest vegetation and technical support for solving the problems of soil water loss and forestland water conservation in southwestern China. Naturally occurring benzophenones represent a relatively small group of plant metabolites with narrow distribution, mainly in members of Clusiaceae, Gentianaceae, Hypericaceae, Polygalaceae, Myrtaceae, etc.; however, there were reports of several compounds derived from microorganisms belonging to the Aspergillaceae and Valsaceae families and propolis. Benzophenones exhibit many biological activities, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, cytotoxic, antimicrobial, etc. Few reviews on benzophenones that have appeared in the literature were focused on their prenylated derivatives. Summarized information on structural diversity, distribution, and biological activities of simple oxygenated naturally occurring benzophenones and their glycosides has not been found in the literature. Until 2000, only benzophenone C-glycosides were known to occur in nature. Since then, many O-glycosides have been isolated, structurally, and biologically characterized. This review covers the years from 1850 to 2023 and was compiled using databases such as Chemical Abstracts, Scopus, Google Scholar, PubMed, and ResearchGate. Based on their degree of oxidation, 210 chemical structures of benzophenone derivatives and glycosides were grouped into six categories. In addition, in one group of 40 miscellaneous benzophenones, where one or several protons are replaced by a methyl, alcohol, carboxyl, or acyl group, glycosidic forms with such an aglycone and dimeric compounds with xanthone was included. Simple oxygenated benzophenones and their glycosides were found in 77 plant genera belonging to 44 families. The allergy-associated bezophenone-1, benzophenone-2 and benzophenone-3 have limited distribution across natural sources. Hericium rajendrae is an emerging species in the genus Hericium with few members. Despite being highly regarded due to its rarity, knowledge about H. rajendrae remains limited. In this study, we sequenced, de novo assembled, and annotated the complete genome of H. rajendrae NPCB A08, isolated from the Qinling Mountains in Shaanxi, China, using the Illumina NovaSeq and Nanopore PromethION technologies. Comparative genomic analysis revealed similarities and differences among the genomes of H. rajendrae, H. erinaceus, and H. coralloides. Phylogenomic analysis revealed the divergence time of the Hericium genus, while transposon analysis revealed evolutionary characteristics of the genus. Gene family variation reflected the expansion and contraction of orthologous genes among Hericium species. Based on genomic bioinformation, we identified the candidate genes associated with the mating system, carbohydrate-active enzymes, and secondary metabolite biosynthesis. Furthermore, metabolite profiling and comparative gene clusters analysis provided strong evidence for the biosynthetic pathway of erinacines in H. rajendrae. This work provides the genome of H. rajendrae for the first time, and enriches the genomic content of the genus Hericium. These findings also facilitate the application of H. rajendrae in complementary drug research and functional food manufacturing, advancing the field of pharmaceutical and functional food production involving H. rajendrae. Background: Cognitive decline in older adults has become one of the critical challenges to global health. This study aims to examine both cross-sectional and longitudinal associations of levels of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (25(OH)D3) (briefed as VD3) concentration and sleep quality/duration, especially their interactions, with risk of cognitive impairment among older adults in China. Methods: We utilized a special subsample of adults aged 65–105 years (individuals = 3412, observations = 4816) from eight provinces in China derived from the 2011/2012 and 2014 waves of the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey. Cognitive impairment was measured by the Mini-Mental State Examination scale. Sleep quality was classified as good versus fair/poor, and sleep duration was classified into short (<7 h), normal (≥7 but <9 h), and long (≥9 h). The VD3 concentration was divided into three levels: deficiency (VD3 < 25 nmol/L), insufficiency (25 nmol/L ≤ VD3 < 50 nmol/L), and sufficiency (VD3 ≥ 50 nmol/L). A wide set of covariates that include demographics, socioeconomic status, family support, health practice, and health conditions was adjusted for robust findings. Multilevel random intercept logit regression models were used to examine the cross-sectional associations between VD3, sleep, and cognitive impairment, whereas logit regression models were applied to investigate the longitudinal associations. Results: In the cross-sectional analyses, when all covariates were adjusted, VD3 sufficiency was significantly associated with a 33% lower risk of cognitive impairment compared with VD3 deficiency; good sleep quality was associated with 34% lower odds of cognitive impairment compared with fair/poor sleep quality; sleep hours were not associated with cognitive impairment, although a long sleep duration (≥9 h) was associated with 30% higher odds of being cognitively impaired when baseline health was not controlled. Interaction analyses reveal that VD3 sufficiency could help to additionally reduce the risk of cognitive impairment for good sleep quality and normal sleep hours. In the longitudinal analyses, the association of VD3 sufficiency remains significant, whereas sleep quality and sleep duration were not significant associates. Conclusions: Good sleep quality, normal sleep hours, and VD3 sufficiency are positively associated with good cognitive function. Reproductive traits are the basic economic traits of goats and important indicators in goat breeding. In this study, Dazu black goats (DBGs; n = 150), an important Chinese local goat breed with excellent reproductive performance, were used to screen for important variation loci and genes of reproductive traits. Through genome-wide association studies (GWAS), 18 SNPs were found to be associated with kidding traits (average litter size, average litter size in the first three parity, and average litter size in the first six parity), and 10 SNPs were associated with udder traits (udder depth, teat diameter, teat length, and supernumerary teat). After gene annotation of the associated SNPs and in combination with relevant references, the candidate genes, namely ATP1A1, LRRC4C, SPCS2, XRRA1, CELF4, NTM, TMEM45B, ATE1, and FGFR2, were associated with udder traits, while the ENSCHIG00000017110, SLC9A8, GLRB, GRIA2, GASK1B, and ENSCHIG00000026285 genes were associated with litter size. The culinary medicinal mushroom Hericium erinaceus holds significant global esteem and has garnered heightened interest within increasingly ageing societies due to its pronounced neuroprotective and anti-neuroinflammatory properties. Within this study, two novel diterpenes, 16-carboxy-13-epi-neoverrucosane (1) and Erinacine L (2); three known xylosyl cyathane diterpenoids, Erinacine A (3), Erinacine C (4), and Erinacine F (5); and four lanostane-type triterpenoids, and three cyclic dipeptides (10–12), in addition to orcinol (13), were isolated from the rice-based cultivation medium of H. erinaceus. Their structures were determined by NMR, HR-ESI-MS, ECD, and calculated NMR. Compound 1 marks a pioneering discovery as the first verrucosane diterpene originating from basidiomycetes, amplifying the scope of fungal natural product chemistry, and the intricate stereochemistry of Compound 5 has been comprehensively assessed for the first time. Compounds 2–5 not only showed encouraging neurotrophic activity in rat adrenal pheochromocytoma PC-12 cells, but also significantly inhibited lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced nitric oxide (NO) production in BV2 microglia cell cultures with IC50 values as low as 5.82 ± 0.18 μM. To elucidate the mechanistic underpinnings of these bioactivities, molecular docking simulation was used to analyze and support the interaction of 1 and 2 with inducible NO synthase (iNOS), respectively. In particular, compound 2, a cyathane-xyloside containing an unconventional hemiacetal moiety, is a compelling candidate for the prevention of neurodegenerative diseases. In summation, this investigation contributes substantively to the panorama of fungal diterpene structural diversity, concurrently furnishing additional empirical substantiation for the role of cyathane diterpenes in the amelioration of neurodegenerative afflictions. Phytoestrogens are plant-derived bioactive compounds with estrogen-like properties. Their potential health benefits, especially in cancer prevention and treatment, have been a subject of considerable research in the past decade. Phytoestrogens exert their effects, at least in part, through interactions with estrogen receptors (ERs), mimicking or inhibiting the actions of natural estrogens. Recently, there has been growing interest in exploring the impact of phytoestrogens on osteosarcoma (OS), a type of bone malignancy that primarily affects children and young adults and is currently presenting limited treatment options. Considering the critical role of the estrogen/ERs axis in bone development and growth, the modulation of ERs has emerged as a highly promising approach in the treatment of OS. This review provides an extensive overview of current literature on the effects of phytoestrogens on human OS models. It delves into the multiple mechanisms through which these molecules regulate the cell cycle, apoptosis, and key pathways implicated in the growth and progression of OS, including ER signaling. Moreover, potential interactions between phytoestrogens and conventional chemotherapy agents commonly used in OS treatment will be examined. Significant progress in the development of micro and nanoscale devices has been observed for the past three decades. The thermal transportation in these small-length scales varies significantly, and it is difficult to explain the underlying physics using the pre-existing theoretical formulations. When the bulk dimension of a system is comparable to or smaller than the mean free path (MFP) of the thermal carriers, classical theories, such as Fourier's Law of heat conduction, are unable to accurately explain the system energy dynamics. The phenomena of energy transit and conversion at the micro to nanoscale is an interesting topic of research due to the substantial changes in behavior that are documented when compared to those at the macro size. This review article is broadly divided into two parts. Initially, the recent development in the field of molecular dynamic (MD) simulations is emphasized. Classical MD simulation is such a powerful tool that provides insight into the length scales where the conventional continuum approaches cease to be valid. Several examples of recent developments in the applicability of MD simulations for micro and nanoscale thermal transportation are reviewed. However, there are certain limitations of the MD simulations where the results deviate from experimental validation due to the lack of knowledge of the appropriate force fields. The family Nidulariaceae, consisting of five genera including Cyathus, is a unique group of mushrooms commonly referred to as bird's nest fungi due to their striking resemblance to bird's nests. These mushrooms are considered medicinal mushrooms in Chinese medicine and have received attention in recent years for their anti-neurodegenerative properties. However, despite the interest in these mushrooms, very little is known about their mitochondrial genomes (mitogenomes). This study is the first comprehensive investigation of the mitogenomes of five Nidulariaceae species with circular genome structures ranging in size from 114,236 bp to 129,263 bp. Comparative analyses based on gene content, gene length, tRNA, and codon usage indicate convergence within the family Nidulariaceae and heterogeneity within the order Agaricales. Phylogenetic analysis based on a combined mitochondrial conserved protein dataset provides a well-supported phylogenetic tree for the Basidiomycetes, which clearly demonstrates the evolutionary relationships between Nidulariaceae and other members of Agaricales. Furthermore, phylogenetic inferences based on four different gene sets reveal the stability and proximity of evolutionary relationships within Agaricales. These results reveal the uniqueness of the family Nidulariaceae and its similarity to other members of Agaricales; provide valuable insights into the origin, evolution, and genetics of Nidulariaceae species; and enrich the fungal mitogenome resource. Actinomycetes inhabit both terrestrial and marine ecosystems and are highly proficient in producing a wide range of natural products with diverse biological functions, including antitumor, immunosuppressive, antimicrobial, and antiviral activities. In this review, we delve into the life cycle, ecology, taxonomy, and classification of actinomycetes, as well as their varied bioactive metabolites recently discovered between 2015 and 2023. Additionally, we explore promising strategies to unveil and investigate new bioactive metabolites, encompassing genome mining, activation of silent genes through signal molecules, and co-cultivation approaches. (1) The occurrence and accumulation of pharmaceuticals and personal care products in the environment are recognized scientific concerns. Many of these compounds are disposed of in an unchanged or metabolized form through sewage systems and wastewater treatment plants (WWTP). WWTP processes do not completely eliminate all active substances or their metabolites. Therefore, they systematically leach into the water system and are increasingly contaminating ground, surface, and drinking water, representing a health risk largely ignored by legislative bodies. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, a significantly larger amount of medicines and protective products were consumed. It is therefore likely that contamination of water sources has increased, and in the case of groundwater with a delayed effect. As a result, it is necessary to develop an accurate, rapid, and easily available method applicable to routine screening analyses of potable water to monitor and estimate their potential health risk. (2) A multi-residue UHPLC-MS/MS analytical method designed for the identification of 52 pharmaceutical products was developed and used to monitor their presence in drinking water. (3) The optimized method achieved good validation parameters, with recovery of 70–120% of most analytes and repeatability achieving results within 20%. In real samples of drinking water, at least one analyte above the limit of determination was detected in each of the 15 tap water and groundwater samples analyzed. This paper studies the impact of diverse carbon emission regulations on optimal operation decisions by exploiting the economic production lot model of a multi-manufacturer system in a low-carbon environment. The optimal production planning for multiple enterprises in terms of cost optimization and carbon emission optimization are presented in various scenarios of the fully decentralized system under carbon taxation, cap and trade, and mandatory carbon cap. We prove a unified framework for modeling the scenarios enabled by carbon tax and cap-and-trade policies. Furthermore, the decision vector of the optimal production lot is obtained by analyzing the joint decision scenario based on shared carbon emission caps. We give a comparative analysis of two settings of fully decentralized and carbon quota sharing. The results show that the decision of joint production and stock preparation can reduce the total operational costs of the multi-enterprise system, but the realized carbon emissions may not change or only increase slightly. Our study provides a useful reference for government carbon emission regulation and enterprise operation decision optimization under carbon neutrality and a carbon peak environment.
