Background: The Minimally Invasive Prolapse System (MIPS) device, a novel single-incision transvaginal mesh, represents recent advancements in mesh technology, providing lightweight, biocompatible support for pelvic organ prolapse while reducing erosion, allowing for customization and improving surgical outcomes. This study aimed to identify factors associated with pelvic organ prolapse (POP) recurrence after transvaginal mesh (TVM) repair using the Minimally Invasive Prolapse System device. Methods: Two hundred and eighteen women with symptomatic stage II to IV POP underwent TVM. Preoperative and postoperative assessments included urinalyses and pelvic examinations using the POP quantification (POP-Q) staging system. Results: During a follow-up period of 12–46 months, 7 of 218 (3.2%) women experienced POP recurrence. Univariate analysis was conducted to identify predictors of surgical failure, revealing no significant differences in body mass index, POP stage, or preoperative urinary symptoms between the recurrence and success groups (p > 0.05). However, functional urethral length <20 mm based on urodynamics (p = 0.011), ICI-Q scores ≥7 (p = 0.012), and the first 60 surgical cases (p = 0.018) were significant predictors of surgical failure. Multivariate logistic regression confirmed these findings. Conclusions: Functional urethral length <20 mm, ICI-Q scores ≥7, and limited surgical experience were significant predictors of TVM failure using the Minimally Invasive Prolapse System kit. This study investigates the application of the vertical zone refining process to produce ultra-high-purity tin. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations were conducted using an Sn-1 wt.%Bi binary alloy to assess the effects of two key parameters—heater temperature and pulling rate—on Bi impurity segregation. The simulations revealed a dynamic evolution in molten zone height, characterized by an initial rapid rise, followed by a gradual increase and ending with a sharp decline. Despite these fluctuations, the lower solid–liquid interface consistently remained slightly convex. After nine zone passes, impurities accumulated at the top of the sample, with dual vortices forming a rhombus- or gate-shaped negative segregation zone. The simulations demonstrated that lower heater temperatures and slower pulling rates enhanced impurity segregation efficiency. Based on these results, experiments were performed using 6N-grade tin as the starting material. Glow discharge mass spectrometry (GDMS) analysis showed that the effective partition coefficients (keff) for impurities such as Ag, Pb, Co, Al, Bi, Cu, Fe, and Ni were significantly less than 1, while As was slightly below but very close to 1, and Sb was above 1. Under optimal conditions—405 °C heater temperature and a pulling rate of 5 μm/s—over 60% of impurities were removed after nine zone passes, approaching 6N9-grade purity. Anoikis is a distinct type of programmed cell death and a unique mechanism for tumor progress. However, its exact function in gastric cancer (GC) remains unknown. This study aims to investigate the function of anoikis-related lncRNA (ar-lncRNA) in the prognosis of GC and its immunological infiltration. The ar-lncRNAs were derived from RNA sequencing data and associated clinical information obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas. Pearson correlation analysis, differential screening, LASSO and Cox regression were utilized to identify the typical ar-lncRNAs with prognostic significance, and the corresponding risk model was constructed, respectively. Comprehensive methods were employed to assess the clinical characteristics of the prediction model, ensuring the accuracy of the prediction results. Further analysis was conducted on the relationship between immune microenvironment and risk features, and sensitivity predictions were made about anticancer medicines. A risk model was built according to seven selected ar-lncRNAs. The model was validated and the calibration plots were highly consistent in validating nomogram predictions. Further analyses revealed the great accuracy of the model and its ability to serve as a stand-alone GC prognostic factor. We subsequently disclosed that high-risk groups display significant enrichment in pathways related to tumors and the immune system. Additionally, in tumor immunoassays, notable variations in immune infiltrates and checkpoints were noted between different risk groups. This study proposes, for the first time, that prognostic signatures of ar-lncRNA can be established in GC. These signatures accurately predict the prognosis of GC and offer potential biomarkers, suggesting new avenues for basic research, prognosis prediction and personalized diagnosis and treatment of GC. The Yellow River Delta (YRD), known for its vast and diverse wetland ecosystem, is the largest estuarine delta in China. However, human activities and climate change have significantly degraded the wetland ecosystem in recent decades in the YRD. Therefore, an understanding of the land use modifications is essential for the efficient management and preservation of ecosystems in this region. This study utilized time series of remote sensing data and the extreme gradient boosting method to generate land use maps of the YRD from 2000 to 2020. Several methods, including transition matrix, land use dynamic degree, and standard deviation ellipse, were employed to explore the characteristics of land use transitions. The results underscore significant spatial variations in land use over the past two decades. The most rapid increase was observed in built-up area, followed by terrestrial water and tidal flats, while unutilized land experienced the fastest decrease, followed by forest–grassland. The spatial distribution patterns of agricultural land, built-up area, terrestrial water, and forest–grassland demonstrated stronger directionality compared to other land use types. The wetlands have expanded in size and improved in structure. Unutilized land has been converted into artificial wetlands comprising ponds, reservoirs, salt ponds, shrimp and crab ponds, and natural wetlands featuring mudflats and forest–grassland. The wetland conservation efforts after 2008 have proven very effective, playing a positive role in ecological and environmental preservation, as well as in regional sustainable development. Simple Summary: Ischnura senegalensis, a beneficial insect predator in the paddy fields, is perilously confronted with the survival challenges posed by insecticide application. In this study, we delved into the toxicity of indoxacarb on the larvae of I. senegalensis. Through behavioral experiments and transcriptome analyses, we uncovered that indoxacarb caused abnormal body movements and locomotory impairments, thereby posing a threat to larval survival. Notably, genes related to muscle function were significantly impacted. While lower concentrations of indoxacarb may be mitigated by the cytochrome P450 gene, higher concentrations significantly diminished the larvae's sensory abilities and hampered toxicity degradation. Our findings highlight the importance of meticulously considering the impact of insecticides on non-target predatory insects before their widespread application. Ischnura senegalensis, which widely spreads in paddy fields, has the potential to be used as a natural predator of insect pests. However, the application of insecticides in the field could pose a threat to the survival of I. senegalensis. Among these pesticides, indoxacarb, an oxadiazine insecticide, is renowned for its broad-spectrum efficacy against numerous insect pests. In this study, we examined the toxicity of indoxacarb towards the larvae of I. senegalensis. Behavioral experiments and transcriptome analyses were conducted under indoxacarb treatments. Results revealed that indoxacarb induced abnormal body gestures and significant locomotory impairments, which could ultimately reduce the survival rate of the larvae in their natural habitat. Moreover, transcriptome analyses indicated that genes related to muscle function were significantly affected. Interestingly, at lower concentrations of indoxacarb (0.004 mg/L), the larvae seem to detoxify the indoxacarb with the aid of the cytochrome P450 gene. However, under higher concentrations (0.4 mg/L), the sensory abilities of the larvae were significantly diminished, and they were unable to degrade the toxicity of indoxacarb. The management of chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) has seen significant progress with the introduction of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), particularly Imatinib. However, a notable proportion of CML patients develop resistance to Imatinib, often due to the persistence of leukemia stem cells and resistance mechanisms independent of BCR::ABL1 This study investigates the roles of IL6R, IL7R, and MYC in Imatinib resistance by employing CRISPR/Cas9 for gene editing and the Non-Invasive Apoptosis Detection Sensor version 2 (NIADS v2) for apoptosis assessment. The results indicate that Imatinib-resistant K562 cells (K562-IR) predominantly express IL6R, IL7R, and MYC, with IL6R and MYC playing crucial roles in cell survival and sensitivity to Imatinib. Conversely, IL7R does not significantly impact cytotoxicity, either alone or in combination with Imatinib. Further genetic editing experiments confirm the protective functions of IL6R and MYC in K562-IR cells, suggesting their potential as therapeutic targets for overcoming Imatinib resistance in CML. This study contributes to understanding the mechanisms of Imatinib resistance in CML, proposing IL6R and MYC as pivotal targets for therapeutic strategies. We develop the online process parameter design (OPPD) framework for efficiently handling streaming data collected from industrial automation equipment. This framework integrates online machine learning, concept drift detection and Bayesian optimization techniques. Initially, concept drift detection mitigates the impact of anomalous data on model updates. Data without concept drift are used for online model training and updating, enabling accurate predictions for the next processing cycle. Bayesian optimization is then employed for inverse optimization and process parameter design. Within OPPD, we introduce the online accelerated support vector regression (OASVR) algorithm for enhanced computational efficiency and model accuracy. OASVR simplifies support vector regression, boosting both speed and durability. Furthermore, we incorporate a dynamic window mechanism to regulate the training data volume for adapting to real-time demands posed by diverse online scenarios. Concept drift detection uses the EI-kMeans algorithm, and the Bayesian inverse design employs an upper confidence bound approach with an adaptive learning rate. With the intensification of water pollution problems worldwide, constructed wetlands, as a green, efficient, and energy-saving wastewater treatment technology, have gradually attracted the wide attention of scholars at home and abroad. In order to better understand and master the research trends of constructed wetland treatment technology in China and promote its development, the literature from 2000 to 2023 in the CNKI database and the Web of Science (WoS) database (located in China) were selected as research objects. Then, CiteSpace software (6.2.R4) was used to visualize and analyze the literature, revealing the research trends and hot areas of constructed wetland treatment technology in China. Then, the optimized way of operation effect of constructed wetland was discussed to provide a theoretical and technical basis for the wide application of constructed wetland technology in our country. The results indicate that the annual publication volume of research on constructed wetlands in China is showing a rapid upward trend. Among them, the Chinese literature mainly focuses on how to improve the application effect of constructed wetlands on nitrogen and phosphorus removal of rural domestic wastewater by matching different wetland plants or developing combined processes. The English literature from the Web of Science (WoS) database mainly focuses on how to remove emerging pollutants, such as heavy metals and resistance genes in wastewater in China, by changing the filling matrix and microbial community structure or developing new processes, and the related mechanisms have been discussed. One of the hot spots for the future research of constructed wetlands in China is to vigorously develop microbial fuel cells, and try to overcome the problem of poor purification efficiency of constructed wetlands under complex conditions such as low temperature, low carbon-nitrogen ratio, and high pollution load. In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a highly effective treatment for infertility; however, it poses challenges for women with decreased ovarian reserve (DOR). Despite the importance of understanding the impact of DOR on IVF outcomes, limited research has explored this relationship, particularly using omics approaches. Hence, we conducted a study to investigate the association between DOR and IVF outcomes, employing a metabolomic approach. We analyzed serum samples from 207 women undergoing IVF treatment, including 89 with DOR and 118 with normal ovarian reserve (NOR). Our findings revealed that DOR was significantly associated with unfavorable IVF outcomes, characterized by a reduced oocyte count, lower embryo quality, and decreased rates of pregnancy and live births. Furthermore, we identified 82 metabolites that displayed significant alterations in DOR patients, impacting diverse metabolic pathways. Notably, a distinct panel of metabolites, including palmitic acid, stearic acid, LysoPC(9:0(CHO)/0:0), PC(18:0/9:0(CHO)), and PC(16:0/9:0(CHO)), exhibited discriminatory power between the DOR and NOR groups, showcasing a strong correlation with IVF outcomes. The incidence of bladder cancer is on the rise, and its molecular heterogeneity presents significant challenges for personalized cancer therapy. Transcriptome data can characterize the variability among patients. Traditional machine-learning methods often struggle with high-dimensional genomic data, falling into the 'curse of dimensionality'. To address this challenge, we have developed MVMSGAT, an innovative predictive model tailored for forecasting responses to neoadjuvant therapy in bladder cancer patients. MVMSGAT significantly enhances model performance by incorporating multi-perspective biological prior knowledge. It initially utilizes the Boruta algorithm to select key genes from transcriptome data, subsequently constructing a comprehensive graph of gene co-expression and protein–protein interactions. MVMSGAT further employs a graph convolutional neural network to integrate this information within a multiview knowledge graph, amalgamating biological knowledge maps from various scales using an attention mechanism. For validation, MVMSGAT was tested using a five-fold cross-validation approach on two specific GEO datasets, GSE169455 and GSE69795, involving a total of 210 bladder cancer samples. MVMSGAT demonstrated superior performance, with the following metrics (mean ± standard deviation): AUC-ROC of 0.8724 ± 0.0511 , accuracy of 0.7789 ± 0.068 , F1 score of 0.8529 ± 0.0338 , and recall of 0.9231 ± 0.0719 . This study investigates the decomposition process of algal blooms (ABs) in eutrophic lakes and its impact on the labile endogenous nitrogen (N) cycle. In situ techniques such as diffusive gradients in thin films (DGT) and high-resolution dialysis (HR-Peeper) were employed to decipher the vertical distribution of N fractions within the sediment–water interface (SWI) in Taihu, China. Additionally, an annular flume was used to simulate regional differences in lake conditions and understand labile nitrogen transformation during AB decomposition. This study reveals that the NH4+-N fraction exuded from algae is subsequently converted into NO3-N and NO2-N through nitrification, resulting in a significant increase in the concentrations of NO3−-N and NO2−-N at the SWI. The decomposition of algae also induces a significant increase in dissolved organic matter (DOM) concentration, referring to humic acid and humus-like components; a seven-millimeter decrease in dissolved oxygen (DO) penetration depth; as well as a significant decrease in the pH value near the SWI, which consequently promotes denitrification processes in the sediment. Moreover, the decomposition process influences nitrogen distribution patterns and the role conversion of sediments between a "source" and a "sink" of nitrogen. This study focuses on separating a mixture consisting of 1,2-ethanediol (1,2-ED), 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PD), and 1,4-butanediol (1,4-BD). Vapor–liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for 1,2-ED + 1,4-BD and 1,3-PD + 1,4-BD are determined at 101.3 kPa using a modified Rose equilibrium still. The consistency of the VLE data is checked with both Redlich–Kister and Fredenslund tests. The VLE data are fitted by the Wilson, NRTL, and UNIQUAC activity coefficient models. All three models can effectively correlate the VLE data. Then, the separation of the mixture is designed with the NRTL model and its correlated binary interaction parameters. A liquid-only transfer dividing wall column (LDWC) is investigated on the basis of a direct conventional distillation sequence (DCDS). For a fair comparison, both DCDS and LDWC are optimized to minimize total annual cost using sequential iterative optimization procedures. After optimization, LDWC exhibits a 16.87% reduction in total annual cost, while cooling and heating utility consumptions are reduced by 28.40% and 19.24% compared to DCDS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Intelligent agricultural machinery refers to machinery that can independently complete tasks in the field, which has great significance for the transformation of agricultural modernization. However, most of the existing research on intelligent agricultural machinery is limited to unilateral research on positioning, planning, and control, and has not organically combined the three to form a fully functional intelligent agricultural machinery system. Based on this, this article has developed an intelligent agricultural machinery system that integrates positioning, planning, and control. In response to the problem of large positioning errors in the large range of plane anchoring longitude and latitude, this article integrates geographic factors such as ellipsoid ratio, long and short axis radius, and altitude into coordinate transformation, and combines RTK/INS integrated inertial navigation to achieve precise positioning of the entire vehicle over a large range. In response to the problem that existing full-coverage path planning algorithms only focus on job coverage as the optimization objective and cannot achieve path optimization, this paper proposes a multi-objective function-coupled full-coverage path planning algorithm that integrates three optimization objectives: job coverage, job path length, and job path quantity. This algorithm achieves optimal path planning while ensuring job coverage. As the existing pure pursuit algorithm is not suitable for the motion control of tracked mobile machinery, this paper reconstructs the existing pure pursuit algorithm based on the Kinematics characteristics of tracked mobile machinery, and adds a linear interpolation module, so that the actual tracking path points of motion control are always ideal tracking path points, effectively improving the motion control accuracy and control stability. Finally, the feasibility of the intelligent agricultural machinery system was demonstrated through corresponding simulation and actual vehicle experiments. The aim of this study is to better understand cross-reef wave-driven current characteristics, which are crucial to biological, ecological, and geomorphological processes within coral reefs. This study reports a set of new wave flume measurements to assess flow along the water depth and across a fringing reef profile under the action of a plunging breaker. Laboratory results are presented in view of cross-reef variations in both the wave height and the mean water level (MWL); the vertical profiles of wave-averaged mean currents below the wave trough and along the reef are also presented. To resolve the two-dimensional vertical (2DV) flow characteristics across the reef, Reynolds-Averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) equations were solved using k-ω SST closure, modified to improve stability, and a Volume of Fluid (VOF) approach was used to capture the water surface. This numerical model was first validated via experimental measurements in view of waves and flows. The scientific management of salinized agricultural lands and the use of undeveloped saline lands to ensure food security have become one of the most urgent tasks nowadays. Biochar contains rich carbon (C) and functional groups, and processes high alkalinity, porosity, and specific surface area (SSA). Thus, it has been widely used as an effective organic conditioner in acidic or neutral soils to improve their fertility. However, so far, the impacts of biochar application on properities of saline soils and the underlying mechanisms remain unveiled. Therefore, in this study, we focus on the investigation of the impacts of biochar on the physical, chemical, and biological properties of saline soils. We found that biochar could: (1) decrease soil bulk density (BD), increase soil porosity, promote the formation of soil aggregation and enhance the leaching of soil salts; (2) increase the cation exchange capacity (CEC) of soil, decrease the salinity of soil through ion exchange and adsorption; (3) directly act as the nutrient supplements, indirectly adsorb water and nutrients or improve nutrient availability (e.g., soil organic carbon (SOC) turnover and sequestration, nutrient cycling); and (4) improve the structure and functioning of the soil microbial community and therefore indirectly impact the C, nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) cycling in soil systems. However, these impacts heavily depend on the properties, the concentration of the biochar added to the soil, and the type and location of the soil. In fact, some studies have shown that the addition of biochar in soil could even increase the salinity of saline soils. Another issue is the lack of long-term and large-scale field experiments regarding the impact of biochar addition on properties of saline soils. Therefore, future studies should focus on long-term field experiments with the combination of traditional soil analytical methods and mordern molecular techniques (e.g., high-throughput sequencing, macro-genomics, and metabolomics) to comprehensively reveal the response mechanism of physicochemical properties and microbial characteristics of saline soils to exogenous biochar. In order to deepen the understanding of the role and regulation mechanisms of prokaryotic global transcription regulators in complex processes, including virulence, the associations between the affinity and binding sequences of Mycobacterium tuberculosis MtrA have been explored extensively. Analysis of MtrA 294 diversified 26 bp binding sequences revealed that the sequence similarity of fragments was not simply associated with affinity. The unique variation patterns of GC content and periodical and sequential fluctuation of affinity contribution curves were observed along the sequence in this study. Furthermore, docking analysis demonstrated that the structure of the dimer MtrA-DNA (high affinity) was generally consistent with other OmpR family members, while Arg 219 and Gly 220 of the wing domain interacted with the minor groove. The results of the binding box replacement experiment proved that box 2 was essential for binding, which implied the differential roles of the two boxes in the binding process. Furthermore, the results of the substitution of the nucleotide at the 20th and/or 21st positions indicated that the affinity was negatively associated with the value of minor groove width precisely at the 21st position. The dimerization of the unphosphorylated MtrA facilitated by a low-affinity DNA fragment was observed for the first time. However, the proportion of the dimer was associated with the affinity of substrate DNA, which further suggested that the affinity was actually one characteristic of the stability of dimers. Based on the finding of 17 inter-molecule hydrogen bonds identified in the interface of the MtrA dimer, including 8 symmetric complementary ones in the conserved α4-β5-α5 face, we propose that hydrogen bonds should be considered just as important as salt bridges and the hydrophobic patch in the dimerization. Our comprehensive study on a large number of binding fragments with quantitative affinity values provided new insight into the molecular mechanism of dimerization, binding specificity and affinity determination of MtrA and clues for solving the puzzle of how global transcription factors regulate a large quantity of target genes. Driverless technology refers to the technology that vehicles use to drive independently with the help of driverless system under the condition of unmanned intervention. The working environment of construction machinery is bad, and the working conditions are complex. The use of driverless technology can greatly reduce the risk of driver operation, reduce labor costs and improve economic benefits.Aiming at the problem of the GPS positioning signal in the working environment of construction machinery being weak and not able to achieve accurate positioning, this paper uses the fusion SLAM algorithm based on improved NDT to realize the real-time positioning of the whole vehicle through reconstruction of the scene. Considering that the motion characteristics of crawler construction machinery are different from those of ordinary passenger cars, this paper improves the existing pure pursuit algorithm. Simulations and real vehicle tests show that the algorithm combined with the fusion SLAM algorithm can realize the motion control of driverless crawler construction machinery well, complete the tracking of the set trajectory perfectly and have high robustness. Considering that there is no mature walking method of driverless crawler construction machinery for reference, the research of this paper will lay a foundation for the development of driverless crawler construction machinery. Various plant species contain terpene secondary metabolites, which disrupt insect growth and development by affecting the activity of juvenile hormone-degrading enzymes, and the juvenile hormone (JH) titers maintained in insects. Nerolidol, a natural sesquiterpenol belonging to the terpenoid group, exhibits structural similarities to insect JHs. However, the impact of nerolidol on insect growth and development, as well as its underlying molecular mechanism, remains unclear. Here, the effects of nerolidol on Spodoptera exigua were investigated under treatment at various sub-lethal doses (4.0 mg/mL, 1.0 mg/mL, 0.25 mg/mL). We found that a higher dose (4.0 mg/mL) of nerolidol significantly impaired the normal growth, development, and population reproduction of S. exigua, although a relatively lower dose (0.25 mg/mL) of nerolidol had no significant effect on this growth and development. Combined transcriptome sequencing and gene family analysis further revealed that four juvenile hormone esterase (JHE)-family genes that are involved in juvenile hormone degradation were significantly altered in S. exigua larvae after nerolidol treatment (4.0 mg/mL). Interestingly, the juvenile hormone esterase-like (JHEL) gene Sexi006721, a critical element responsive to nerolidol stress, was closely linked with the significant augmentation of JHE activity and JH titer in S. exigua (R2 = 0.94, p < 0.01). The design of earth-abundant and highly efficient bifunctional electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution and oxygen evolution reactions (HER/OER) is crucial for hydrogen production through overall water splitting. Herein, we report a novel nanostructure consisting of vertically oriented CoP hierarchical nanosheet arrays with in situ-assembled carbon skeletons on a Ti foil electrode. The novel Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework-67 (ZIF-67) template-derived hierarchical nanosheet architecture effectively improved electrical conductivity, facilitated electrolyte transport, and increased the exposure of the active sites. The obtained bifunctional hybrid exhibited a low overpotential of 72 mV at 10 mA cm−2 and a small Tafel slope of 65 mV dec−1 for HER, and an improved overpotential of 329 mV and a Tafel slope of 107 mV dec−1 for OER. Furthermore, the assembled C@CoP||C@CoP electrolyzer showed excellent overall water splitting performance (1.63 V) at a current density of 10 mA cm−2 and superior durability. The spatial-dependent-propagation (SDP) model with a nearby source works well to reproduce the coevolving features of both cosmic-ray (CR)-nuclei spectra and anisotropy. However, it is well known that the Sun is actually deviating from the galactic disk. This will lead to a dominating anisotropy in the direction perpendicular to the galactic disk, which is discrepant with current observations. Thus, it is necessary to further investigate the effect of the solar offset on anisotropy. In this work, to the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that the combined studies of the solar offset, nuclei spectra, and anisotropy have been performed based on the SDP model. As a result, to reproduce CR spectra and anisotropy, the thickness of the inner halo (Z I H) needs to increase linearly with the displacement of the Sun. We also know that the PeV anisotropy could be used to estimate the value of the diffusion coefficient, thus breaking the degeneracy between the diffusion coefficient and halo thickness. Therefore, it is a good approach to constrain the halo thickness. Moreover, the anisotropy in the PeV energy region, as a new probe, might also shed new light on constraining the solar offset. Simple Summary: Predators drive prey trait diversification and promote ecological speciation. The impacts of predation are not only on the final state of antipredation traits, but also on the development of antipredation traits. Species of the dragonfly genus Leucorrhinia are distributed in both habitats dominated by predatory fish (fish lakes) and habitats dominated by predatory invertebrates (invertebrate lakes). In larval dragonflies, the spine is one of the most efficient traits deterring gape-limited fish predators. However, the spine is not useful in invertebrate lakes. In this study, we compared the developmental patterns of spines in both habitats. We constructed the scaling relationship between spine length and body size and compared the inflexion point on those curves in five species of Leucorrhinia dragonfly larvae. Here, we found that fish-lake Leucorrhinia species kept a higher spine growth rate than species from invertebrate lakes, and Leucorrhinia species from fish lakes displayed accelerated spine growth rate at larger body size compared to invertebrate-lake species. Our results highlight that development patterns, as well as the final states of antipredator traits, are essential to understanding predator–prey interactions. However, defensive spines increase mortality in habitats dominated by invertebrate predators (invertebrate lakes), which prefer smaller prey. Thus, species from fish lakes may accelerate spine growth at a later body size compared to species from invertebrate lakes when growing into the preferred prey size range of predatory fish. In this study, we constructed the allometric relationship between spine length and body size and compared the inflexion point of those growth curves in five species of Leucorrhinia dragonfly larvae. We found that fish-lake Leucorrhinia species accelerated spine growth at a larger body size than congenerics from invertebrate lakes. Further, rather than extending spine length constantly through development, fish-lake species rapidly accelerated spine growth at a larger body size. This is likely to be adaptive for avoiding invertebrate predation at an early life stage, which are also present in fish lakes, though in smaller numbers. Nowcasting has emerged as a critical foundation for services including heavy rain alerts and public transportation management. Although widely used for short-term forecasting, models such as TrajGRU and PredRNN exhibit limitations in predicting low-intensity rainfall and low temporal resolution, resulting in suboptimal performance during infrequent heavy rainfall events. To tackle these challenges, we introduce a spatio-temporal sequence and generative adversarial network model for short-term precipitation forecasting based on radar data. By enhancing the ConvLSTM model with a pre-trained TransGAN generator, we improve feature resolution. We first assessed the model's performance on the Moving MNIST dataset and subsequently validated it on the HKO-7 dataset. Employing metrics such as Mean Squared Error (MSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Structural Similarity Index Measure (SSIM), Critical Success Index (CSI), Probability of Detection (POD), and False Alarm Ratio (FAR), we compare our model's performance to existing models. Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) is human specific virus. The intercellular transmission of HSV-1 is essential in its pathogenesis. The tunneling nanotube (TNT), a new mode connecting distant cells, has been found to play an important role in the spread of various viruses like human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and influenza virus. However, whether HSV-1 can be transmitted through TNTs has not been confirmed. The purpose of this study was to clarify this, and further to determine the effect of inhibiting the actin-related protein 2/3 (Arp2/3) complex on the intercellular transmission of HSV-1. A scanning electron microscope and fluorescence microscope detected the formation of TNTs between HSV-1 infected cells. Envelope glycoprotein D (gD) and envelope glycoprotein E (gE) of HSV-1 and viral particles were observed in TNTs. Treatment with CK666, an inhibitor of the Arp2/3 complex, reduced the number of TNTs by approximately 40–80%. At the same time, the DNA level of HSV-1 in cells and the number of plaque formation units (PFU) were also reduced by nearly 30%. These findings indicated that TNT contributes to HSV-1 transmission and that the inhibition of the Arp2/3 complex could impair HSV-1 transmission, which not only provides a novel insight into the transmission mode of HSV-1, but also a putative new antiviral target. Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (IHCC) is the second most common malignant neoplasm of the liver. In spite of the increasing incidence worldwide, it is relatively rare in Western countries. IHCC is relatively common in Eastern and Southeastern Asia. Patients with IHCC are usually diagnosed at an advanced stage, therefore, the clinical outcome is dismal. Dysregulation of urea cycle metabolic enzyme expression is found in different types of cancers. Nevertheless, a comprehensive evaluation of genes related to the urea cycle (i.e., GO:0000050) has not been conducted in IHCC. By performing a comparative analysis of gene expression profiles, we specifically examined genes associated with the urea cycle (GO:0000050) in a publicly accessible transcriptomic dataset (GSE26566). Interestingly, CPS1 was identified as the second most prominently down-regulated gene in this context. Tumor tissues of 182 IHCC patients who underwent curative-intent hepatectomy were enrolled. The expression level of CPS1 protein in our IHCC cohort was assessed by immunohistochemical study. Subsequent to that, statistical analyses were carried out to examine the expression of CPS1 in relation to various clinicopathological factors, as well as to assess its impact on survival outcomes. We noticed that lower immunoreactivity of CPS1 in IHCC was associated with tumor progression (pT status) with statistical significance (p = 0.003). CPS1 underexpression was not only negatively correlated to overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS), local recurrence-free survival (LRFS) and metastasis-free survival (MeFS) in univariate analysis but also an independent prognosticator to forecast poorer clinical outcome for all prognostic indices (OS, DFS, LRFS and MeFs) in patients with IHCC (all p ≤ 0.001). These results support that CPS1 may play a crucial role in IHCC oncogenesis and tumor progression and serve as a novel prognostic factor and a potential diagnostic and theranostic biomarker. Malnutrition is a common problem in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) receiving targeted therapy plus chemotherapy, resulting in severe toxicity and decreased survival rates. This retrospective study employing propensity score matching (PSM) examined the efficacy and safety of a supplemental home parenteral nutrition (HPN) program for patients with RAS wild-type mCRC receiving cetuximab plus chemotherapy. This retrospective nationwide registry study included data from 14 medical centers/hospitals across Taiwan, and the data period ranged from November 2016 to December 2020. Patients with RAS wild-type mCRC receiving cetuximab plus chemotherapy as their first-line therapy were included and divided into HPN and non-HPN program groups. HPN was initiated based on patient-specific factors, such as baseline nutritional status, treatment-related toxicities, and comorbidities. Clinical outcomes were evaluated using response to therapy, duration of response (DoR), progression-free survival (PFS), and overall survival (OS). This study recruited 758 patients, of whom 110 and 648 were included in the HPN and non-HPN program groups, respectively. After 1:3 PSM, the data of 109 and 327 patients from the HPN and non-HPN program groups were analyzed, respectively. The HPN program group had a higher metastasectomy rate (33.9% vs. 20.2%, p = 0.005), and longer duration of treatment and DoR than the non-HPN program group (13.6 vs. 10.3 and 13.6 vs. 9.9 months, p = 0.001 and < 0.001, respectively). The HPN program group tended to have a longer median PFS (18.2 vs. 13.9 months, p = 0.102). Moreover, we noted a significant improvement in the median OS in the same group (53.4 vs. 34.6 months, p = 0.002). Long-acting antipsychotic injections require that psychiatric nurses choose the proper injection site and technique to avoid harming patients. This research conducted a mixed-method study to examine the long-acting injectable antipsychotic (LAI) knowledge, practice, and administrative barriers in a sample of 269 psychiatric nurses from 3 public psychiatric hospitals in Taiwan. Self-report questionnaires showed female nurses exhibiting higher scores and older nurses demonstrating more knowledge. The dorsogluteal (DG) site was the most widely used for injections, with 57.6% of nurses using the Z-track method. Qualitative data analysis was performed on 20 psychiatric nurses who chose the DG site as their preferred injection site. There were two key themes. The first was a gap between the nurses' knowledge of LAI administration and their actual practice. The second needed more confidence and training in using the ventrogluteal injection site. In order to better simulate the actual working conditions of wind turbines more realistically, this paper adopts the two-way fluid–structure coupling method to study the NREL 5 MW wind turbine, considering the blade coupling deformation and equivalent stress and strain distribution of the blades with different internal structures under different working conditions. The results show that the maximum equivalent stress and strain distribution of the beam–structure wind turbine blade was near the leading edge of the blade. The maximum equivalent stress and strain distribution of the shell structure wind turbine blade was near the leading edge of the blade root, and the dangerous area is obvious but smaller than that of the beam-type wind turbine. The coupled deformation of a wind turbine model with a shell structure blade with a web is significantly reduced, and the equivalent stress and strain distribution of the skin is similar to that of the shell structure, but the numerical value and the maximum equivalent stress distribution area are significantly smaller. This article explores complex-valued inertial neural networks (CVINNs) with distributed delays (DDs). By constructing two new feedback controllers, some novel results on fixed-time stabilization (FTS) and preassigned-time stabilization (PTS) of CVINNs are established. Unlike most of the previous works, FTS and PTS obtained here are explored without dividing the original complex-valued system into two separate real valued subsystems. Eventually, to verify the effectiveness and reliability of the results of this article, we provide several numerical examples. Nanodiamonds (NDs) are emerging as a promising candidate for multimodal bioimaging on account of their optical and spectroscopic properties. NDs are extensively utilized for bioimaging probes due to their defects and admixtures in their crystal lattice. There are many optically active defects presented in NDs called color centers, which are highly photostable, extremely sensitive to bioimaging, and capable of electron leap in the forbidden band; further, they absorb or emit light when leaping, enabling the nanodiamond to fluoresce. Fluorescent imaging plays a significant role in bioscience research, but traditional fluorescent dyes have some drawbacks in physical, optical and toxicity aspects. As a novel fluorescent labeling tool, NDs have become the focus of research in the field of biomarkers in recent years because of their various irreplaceable advantages. This review primarily focuses on the recent application progress of nanodiamonds in the field of bioimaging. In this paper, we will summarize the progress of ND research from the following aspects (including fluorescence imaging, Raman imaging, X-ray imaging, magnetic modulation fluorescence imaging, magnetic resonance imaging, cathodoluminescence imaging, and optical coherence tomography imaging) and expect to supply an outlook contribution for future nanodiamond exploration in bioimaging. Millimeter-wave-based extended target tracking has attracted extensive interest recently because of its privacy, high precision, and low cost. This paper concentrated on crowded indoor situations and presents a novel method for group tracking. First, the proposed alpha-extended Kalman filter and the group association were carried out, which can constantly estimate the target expansion and the number of reflection points, consequently modifying the measurement noise and covariance estimation. Then, to initialize the actual targets, we employed a density-based spatial clustering approach that includes false target suppression. After the targets have been updated, the track re-association and estimation procedure is conducted to account for the unanticipated break of moving and near-static targets. Finally, various experiments involving fewer than 11 participants were designed to assess the robustness of the method. The working environment of construction machinery is harsh, and some operations are highly repetitive. The realization of intelligent construction machinery helps to improve economic efficiency and promote industrial development. Construction machinery is different from ordinary passenger vehicles. Aiming at the fact that the existing environmental perception data set cannot be directly applied to construction machinery, this paper establishes the corresponding data set in combination with the specific working conditions of construction machinery and carries out training based on the PointPillars network to realize the environmental perception function applicable to the working conditions of construction machinery. Most construction machinery runs on unstructured roads, and the existing passenger vehicle path planning algorithm is not applicable to construction machinery. Based on this, this paper uses a hybrid A* algorithm to achieve path planning that meets the kinematics of construction machinery and realizes real-time obstacle detection and avoidance. At the same time, this paper combines environmental perception with a path planning algorithm to provide a method of autonomous path finding and obstacle avoidance for construction machinery. Based on the improved pure pursuit algorithm, the high-precision motion control and established trajectory tracking of construction machinery are realized, which lays a certain foundation for the follow-up research and development of related intelligent technologies of construction machinery. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a kind of wide-bandgap semiconductor. Nano-TiO2 devices exhibit size-dependent and novel photoelectric performance due to their quantum limiting effect, high absorption coefficient, high surface-volume ratio, adjustable band gap, etc. Due to their excellent electronic performance, abundant presence, and high cost performance, they are widely used in various application fields such as memory, sensors, and photodiodes. This article provides an overview of the most recent developments in the application of nanostructured TiO2-based optoelectronic devices. Various complex devices are considered, such as sensors, photodetectors, light-emitting diodes (LEDs), storage applications, and field-effect transistors (FETs). The rapid development of cities has brought a lot of carbon emissions and water consumption, leading to disasters, such as the greenhouse effect and drought. However, there is a lack of systematic review on the key nodes for the water–carbon nexus and the key points of water-saving and emission reduction improvement in the urban systems. This study reviewed the definition of the water–carbon nexus, analyzed its changing mechanism in different urban systems, and concluded the major methodologies applied in the nexus studies. The main findings are as follows: (1) the water/wastewater treatment in water systems and the structure transformation in energy systems are the key nodes for the water–carbon nexus. (2) From the perspective of methodologies, the research focus has gradually changed from single system and process analysis to multi-system and whole process analysis. (3) There is a tendency to sacrifice large water consumption in exchange for carbon reduction in the urban systems, calling for explorations in the water–carbon balance. (4) More comprehensive methods, systematic data support, and accurate definition of system boundaries are required to quantify the nexus. To promote a resilient user-product relationship for sustainable fashion, design methods for emotional durability are required. Digitally transformable fashion design can be seen as a practical approach that enables dynamic, sensory, experiential, and emotional interaction. Literature shows that features of transformable fashion and textiles, such as versatility, perceived quality, biomorphic forms, and aesthetics, can induce emotional durability in users. However, mainstream works are conducted from function-oriented and technology-led perspectives, neglecting the significance of fashion design as a creative and affective role. To fill the gap, we present exhaustive accounts of two autobiographical design projects as case studies: Pneum-Muscle, a body-worn pneumatic wearable, and E-coral, an artistic interactive textile installation. We utilised the first-person soma design method to facilitate the iterative design and unfold the emotional connection between the user and the materials. We contribute technology-embedded fashion design strategies to inspire novice fashion designers, which involve dynamic draping, ambiguous cutting, and sewing technique-based pneumatic systems. Diamond holds promise for optoelectronic devices working in high-frequency, high-power and high-temperature environments, for example in some aspect of nuclear energetics industry processing and aerospace due to its wide bandgap (5.5 eV), ultimate thermal conductivity, high-pressure resistance, high radio frequency and high chemical stability. In the last several years, p-type B-doped diamond (BDD) has been fabricated to heterojunctions with all kinds of non-metal oxide (AlN, GaN, Si and carbon-based semiconductors) to form heterojunctions, which may be widely utilized in various optoelectronic device technology. This article discusses the application of diamond-based heterostructures and mainly writes about optoelectronic device fabrication, optoelectronic performance research, LEDs, photodetectors, and high-electron mobility transistor (HEMT) device applications based on diamond non-metal oxide (AlN, GaN, Si and carbon-based semiconductor) heterojunction. Background: Previous studies indicate that dihydromyricetin (DHM) could alleviate intestinal inflammation and improve intestinal barrier integrity, yet the underlying mechanism remains obscure. Methods: C57BL/6 male mice were fed with a control diet, high-fat diet (HFD), or HFD + DHM diet for 12 weeks. The intestinal permeability and expression of intestinal tight junction (TJ) protein were detected to evaluate the effects of DHM on intestinal barrier integrity. The interleukin 22 (IL-22) production of group 3 innate lymphoid cells (ILC3s) in small intestine lamina propria was tested to clarify the effects of DHM on ILC3s. In addition, an MNK3 cell line, which expresses the same transcription factors and cytokines as ILC3, was used to investigate the molecular mechanism under DHM-induced IL-22 expression. Results: DHM effectively protected HFD-fed mice against intestinal barrier destruction by promoting ILC3 activation and IL-22 secretion, and IL-22 expression increased the expression levels of TJ molecules to protect intestinal barrier integrity. Moreover, DHM increased activation of the AMPK/SIRT3/STAT3 pathway, which in turn promoted IL-22 expression in MNK3 cells. Background: Exercise-induced gastrointestinal syndrome (GIS) has symptoms commonly induced by strenuous sports. The study aimed to determine the effect of dihydromyricetin (DHM) administration on high-intensity exercise (HIE)-induced intestinal barrier dysfunction and the underlying mechanism involved with intestinal intraepithelial lymphocytes (IELs). Methods: The HIE model was established with male C57BL/6 mice using a motorized treadmill for 2 weeks, and DHM was given once a day by oral gavage. After being sacrificed, the small intestines of the mice were removed immediately. Results: We found that DHM administration significantly suppressed HIE-induced intestinal inflammation, improved intestinal barrier integrity, and inhibited a HIE-induced increase in the number of IELs and the frequency of CD8αα+ IELs. Meanwhile, several markers associated with the activation, gut homing and immune functions of CD8αα+ IELs were regulated by DHM. Mechanistically, luciferase reporter assay and molecular docking assay showed DHM could activate the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR). Conclusions: These data indicate that DHM exerts a preventive effect against HIE-induced intestinal barrier dysfunction, which is associated with the modulation of the quantity and phenotype of IELs in the small intestine. At present, there is a limited understanding of nitrogen (N) accumulation, translocation, and utilization in different types of rice grown using different planting methods in a rice–wheat rotation system. Systematic experiments were conducted with six rice cultivars, including two japonica-indica hybrids (JIHR), two japonica conventional rice (JCR) cultivars, and two indica hybrid rice (IHR) cultivars, to study the effects on N use of plants in three transplanting modes: (1) the pothole seedling machine transplanting mode (PM), (2) the carpet seedling machine transplanting mode (CM), and (3) the mechanical direct seeding mode (DM). Results showed that at stem elongation stage, for N content and uptake, the planting methods were ranked in the order PM < CM < DM, and at heading and maturity the order was PM > CM > DM. After stem elongation the rankings for N accumulation, ratio of N accumulation to total N, and N uptake rate were PM > CM >DM. Thus, on the basis of a certain amount of N accumulation in the early growth phase, increasing the N uptake rate and N accumulation in the middle and late growth phases are ways to increase total N uptake for the PM and CM modes compared to DM. In addition, the PM/JIHR treatment had the highest N uptake at maturity. The N contents of leaves, stem-sheaths, and panicles at heading and maturity for the three planting modes were ranked PM > CM > DM. Moreover, the N translocation amount, apparent N translocation rate, and translocation conversion rate of leaves under PM were significantly higher than for CM and DM, which would increase N accumulation in the grain. The N uptake per 100 kg grain and the partial factor productivity of applied N under PM were larger than for CM and DM, but the N use efficiency of grain yield and biomass were smaller for PM than for CM and DM. In conclusion, rice grown using PM, especially JIHR, had higher total N uptake and N utilization compared to the CM and DM modes, and cultivation measures to improve the N use efficiency of grain yield and biomass could be appropriately applied to further improve N use in a rice–wheat rotation system. The development of a convenient, sensitive, rapid and self-sterilizing biosensor for microbial detection is important for the prevention and control of foodborne diseases. Herein, we designed a surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensing nanoplatform based on a capture–enrichment–enhancement strategy to detect bacteria. The gold−Azo@silver−cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (Au−Azo@Ag−CTAB) SERS nanotags were obtained by optimizing the synthesis process conditions. The results showed that the modification of CTAB enabled the nanotags to bind to different bacteria electrostatically. This SERS sensing nanoplatform was demonstrated to be fast (15 min), accurate and sensitive (limit of detection (LOD): 300 and 400 CFU/mL for E. coli and S. aureus, respectively). The crack propagation mechanism of Al0.1CoCrFeNi high-entropy alloy (HEA) was investigated with the molecular dynamics method. The pre-crack propagation and stretching processes of single-crystal Al0.1CoCrFeNi HEA and Al0.1CoCrFeNi HEA with grain boundaries were simulated. The effects of strain rates and different crystal structures on the crack propagation of the alloy therein at room temperature were studied. They both exhibited plastic deformation and ductile fracturing, and the crack tip involved dislocations at 45° and 135° under the tensile stress. The dislocations formed in the intrinsic-stacking fault and stacking fault based on hexagonal closely packed structures spread and then accumulated near the grain boundary. At the position where hexagonal closely packed structures were accumulated, the dent was obviously serious at the 1/3 position of the alloy where the fracturing finally occurred. The yield strength for Al0.1CoCrFeNi HEA with grain boundaries was lower than that of the single-crystal Al0.1CoCrFeNi HEA. However, Young's moduli for Al0.1CoCrFeNi HEA with grain boundaries were higher than those of the single-crystal Al0.1CoCrFeNi HEA. The grain boundaries can be used as the emission source of dislocations, and it is easier to form dislocations in the-single crystal Al0.1CoCrFeNi HEA, but the existence of grain boundaries hinders the slippage of dislocations. Prenylated flavonol glycosides in Epimedium plants, as key medicinal components, are known to have great pharmaceutical activities for human health. Among the main prenylated flavonol glycosides, the modification mechanism of different sugar moieties is still not well understood. In the current study, a novel prenylated flavonol rhamnoside xylosyltransferase gene (EpF3R2″XylT) was cloned from E. pubescens, and the enzymatic activity of its decoding proteins was examined in vitro with different prenylated flavonol rhamnoside substrates and different 3-O-monosaccharide moieties. Furthermore, the functional and structural domains of EpF3R2″XylT were analyzed by bioinformatic approaches and 3-D protein structure remodeling. In summary, EpF3R2″XylT was shown to cluster with GGT (glycosyltransferase that glycosylates sugar moieties of glycosides) through phylogenetic analysis. In enzymatic analysis, EpF3R2″XylT was proven to transfer xylose moiety from UDP-xylose to prenylated flavonol rhamnoside at the 2″-OH position of rhamnose. The analysis of enzymatic kinetics showed that EpF3R2″XylT had the highest substrate affinity toward icariin with the lowest Km value of 75.96 ± 11.91 mM. Transient expression of EpF3R2″XylT in tobacco leaf showed functional production of EpF3R2″XylT proteins in planta. EpF3R2″XylT was preferably expressed in the leaves of E. pubescens, which is consistent with the accumulation levels of major prenylflavonol 3-O-triglycoside. The discovery of EpF3R2″XylT will provide an economical and efficient alternative way to produce prenylated flavonol trisaccharides through the biosynthetic approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The n-type Ce:ZnO (NL) grown using a hydrothermal method was deposited on a p-type boron-doped nanoleaf diamond (BDD) film to fabricate an n-Ce:ZnO NL/p-BDD heterojunction. It shows a significant enhancement in photoluminescence (PL) intensity and a more pronounced blue shift of the UV emission peak (from 385 nm to 365 nm) compared with the undoped heterojunction (n-ZnO/p-BDD). The prepared heterojunction devices demonstrate good thermal stability and excellent rectification characteristics at different temperatures. As the temperature increases, the turn-on voltage and ideal factor (n) of the device gradually decrease. The electronic transport behaviors depending on temperature of the heterojunction at different bias voltages are discussed using an equilibrium band diagram and semiconductor theoretical model. piRNAs play pivotal roles in maintaining genome stability, regulating gene expression, and modulating development and immunity. However, there are few piRNA-associated studies on honey-bees, and the regulatory role of piRNAs in the development of bee guts is largely unknown. Here, the differential expression pattern of piRNAs during the developmental process of the European honey-bee (Apis mellifera) larval guts was analyzed, followed by investigation of the regulatory network and the potential function of differentially expressed piRNAs (DEpiRNAs) in regulating gut development. A total of 843 piRNAs were identified in the larval guts of A. mellifera; among these, 764 piRNAs were shared by 4- (Am4 group), 5- (Am5 group), and 6-day-old (Am6 group) larval guts, while 11, 67, and one, respectively, were unique. The first base of piRNAs in each group had a cytosine (C) bias. Additionally, 61 up-regulated and 17 down-regulated piRNAs were identified in the "Am4 vs. Am5" comparison group, further targeting 9, 983 genes, which were involved in 50 GO terms and 142 pathways, while two up-regulated and five down-regulated piRNAs were detected in the "Am5 vs. Am6" comparison group, further targeting 1, 936 genes, which were engaged in 41 functional terms and 101 pathways. piR-ame-742536 and piR-ame-856650 in the "Am4 vs. Am5" comparison group as well as piR-ame-592661 and piR-ame-31653 in the "Am5 vs. Am6" comparison group were found to link to the highest number of targets. Further analysis indicated that targets of DEpiRNAs in these two comparison groups putatively regulate seven development-associated signaling pathways, seven immune-associated pathways, and three energy metabolism pathways. Moreover, the expression trends of five randomly selected DEpiRNAs were verified based on stem-loop RT-PCR and RT-qPCR. These results were suggestive of the overall alteration of piRNAs during the larval developmental process and demonstrated that DEpiRNAs potentially modulate development-, immune-, and energy metabolism-associated pathways by regulating the expression of corresponding genes via target binding, further affecting the development of A. mellifera larval guts. This paper presents a proposed static test and numerical study on the mechanical properties of steel-shell–concrete-structure-immersed tunnel nodes, which is used to investigate the seismic performance and damage mechanism of steel-shell–concrete-structure-immersed tunnel nodes. The test is based on the immersed tube tunnel project in the deep China channel, and the nodes representing the outermost and innermost vertical walls of the immersed tube tunnel, i.e., L-shaped and T-shaped node specimens, were designed and fabricated at a scale of 1:5, and the specimens were mainly subjected to the combined effect of vertical axial compression and lateral displacement loads. The test results show that the L-shaped node will exhibit brittle damage characteristics with high lateral load carrying capacity and energy dissipation capacity during the ultimate load phase, while the T-shaped node exhibits bending damage with better ductility, so the outermost vertical wall should be locally reinforced to ensure the necessary ductility of the structure in the actual project. In addition, by comparing the numerical calculation and experimental results, it is found that there is good agreement in terms of load–displacement curves and crack distribution, which shows that the modeling method proposed in this paper can accurately simulate the mechanical properties of immersed tunnel nodes and can guide the section design of immersed tunnels with steel shell–concrete structures. Gouty arthritis is the most common form of inflammatory arthritis and flares frequently after surgeries. Such flares impede early patient mobilization and lengthen hospital stays; however, little has been reported on gout flares after spinal procedures. This study reviewed a database of 6439 adult patients who underwent thoracolumbar spine surgery between January 2009 and June 2021, and 128 patients who had a history of gouty arthritis were included. Baseline characteristics and operative details were compared between the flare-up and no-flare groups. Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze predictors and construct a predictive model of postoperative flares. This model was validated using a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. Fifty-six patients (43.8%) had postsurgical gout flares. Multivariate analysis identified gout medication use (odds ratio [OR], 0.32; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.14–0.75; p = 0.009), smoking (OR, 3.23; 95% CI, 1.34–7.80; p = 0.009), preoperative hemoglobin level (OR, 0.68; 95% CI, 0.53–0.87; p = 0.002), and hemoglobin drop (OR, 1.93; 95% CI, 1.25–2.96; p = 0.003) as predictors for postsurgical flare. The area under the ROC curve was 0.801 (95% CI, 0.717–0.877; p < 0.001). The optimal cut-off point of probability greater than 0.453 predicted gout flare with a sensitivity of 76.8% and specificity of 73.2%. The epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) describes a biological process in which polarized epithelial cells are converted into highly motile mesenchymal cells. It promotes cancer cell dissemination, allowing them to form distal metastases, and also involves drug resistance in metastatic cancers. Transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) is a multifunctional cytokine that plays essential roles in development and carcinogenesis. It is a major inducer of the EMT. The MIR31 host gene (MIR31HG) is a newly identified long non-coding (lnc)RNA that exhibits ambiguous roles in cancer. In this study, a cancer genomics analysis predicted that MIR31HG overexpression was positively correlated with poorer disease-free survival of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) patients, which was associated with upregulation of genes related to TGFβ signaling and the EMT. In vitro evidence demonstrated that TGFβ induced MIR31HG expression in PDAC cells, and knockdown of MIR31HG expression reversed TGFβ-induced EMT phenotypes and cancer cell migration.
