Given that methane (CH 4 ) and nitrogen (N 2 ) have similar properties, achieving high-purity enrichment of CH 4 from nitrogen-rich low-grade gas is extremely challenging and is of great significance for sustainable development in energy and the environment. This paper reviews the research progress on carbon-based materials, zeolites, and MOFs as adsorbent materials for CH 4 /N 2 separation. It focuses on the relationship between the composition, pore size, surface chemistry of the adsorbents, CH 4 /N 2 selectivity, and CH 4 adsorption capacity. The paper also highlights that controlling pore size and atomic-scale composition and optimizing these features for the best match are key directions for the development of new adsorbents. Additionally, it points out that MOFs, which combine the advantages of carbon-based adsorbents and zeolites, are likely to become the most promising adsorbent materials for efficient CH 4 /N 2 separation.

Mu opioid receptors (MORs) represent a vital mechanism related to the modulation of stress-induced analgesia (SIA). Previous studies have reported on the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)ergic "disinhibition" mechanisms of MORs on the descending pain modulatory pathway of SIA induced in the midbrain. However, the role of the MORs expressed in the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC), one of the main cortical areas participating in pain modulation, in SIA remains completely unknown. In this study, we investigated the contributions of MORs expressed on glutamatergic (MORGlut) and GABAergic (MORGABA) neurons of the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC), as well as the functional role and activity of neurons projecting from the mPFC to the periaqueductal gray (PAG) region, in male mice. We achieved this through a combination of hot-plate tests, c-fos staining, and 1 h acute restraint stress exposure tests. The results showed that our acute restraint stress protocol produced mPFC MOR-dependent SIA effects. In particular, MORGABA was found to play a major role in modulating the effects of SIA, whereas MORGlut seemed to be unconnected to the process. We also found that mPFC-PAG projections were efficiently activated and played key roles in the effects of SIA, and their activation was mediated by MORGABA to a large extent. These results indicated that the activation of mPFC MORGABA due to restraint stress was able to activate mPFC-PAG projections in a potential "disinhibition" pathway that produced analgesic effects. These findings provide a potential theoretical basis for pain treatment or drug screening targeting the mPFC.

A digital twin (DT) is a virtual/digital model of any physical object (physical twin), interconnected through data exchange. In the context of Industry 4.0, DTs are integral to intelligent automation driving innovation at scale by providing significant improvements in precision, flexibility, and real-time responsiveness. A critical challenge in developing DTs is achieving a model that reflects real-time conditions with precision and flexibility. This paper focuses on evaluating latency and accuracy, key metrics for assessing the efficacy of a DT, which often hinder scalability and adaptability in robotic applications. This article presents a comprehensive framework for developing DTs using Unity and Robot Operating System (ROS) as the main layers of digitalization and communication. The MoveIt package was used for motion planning and execution for the robotic arm, showcasing the framework's versatility independent of proprietary constraints. Leveraging the versatility and open-source nature of these tools, the framework ensures interoperability, adaptability, and scalability, crucial for modern smart manufacturing applications. Our approach was validated by conducting extensive accuracy and latency tests. We measured latency by timestamping messages exchanged between the physical and digital twin, achieving a latency of 77.67 ms. Accuracy was assessed by comparing the joint positions of the DT and the physical robotic arm over multiple cycles, resulting in an accuracy rate of 99.99%. The results highlight the potential of DTs in enhancing operational efficiency and decision-making in manufacturing environments.

Sound Event Detection and Localization (SELD) is a comprehensive task that aims to solve the subtasks of Sound Event Detection (SED) and Sound Source Localization (SSL) simultaneously. The task of SELD lies in the need to solve both sound recognition and spatial localization problems, and different categories of sound events may overlap in time and space, making it more difficult for the model to distinguish between different events occurring at the same time and to locate the sound source. In this study, the Dual-conv Coordinate Attention Module (DCAM) combines dual convolutional blocks and Coordinate Attention, and based on this, the network architecture based on the two-stage strategy is improved to form the SELD-oriented Two-Stage Dual-conv Coordinate Attention Model (TDCAM) for SELD. TDCAM draws on the concepts of Visual Geometry Group (VGG) networks and Coordinate Attention to effectively capture critical local information by focusing on the coordinate space information of the feature map and dealing with the relationship between the feature map channels to enhance the feature selection capability of the model. To address the limitation of a single-layer Bi-directional Gated Recurrent Unit (Bi-GRU) in the two-stage network in terms of timing processing, we add to the structure of the two-layer Bi-GRU and introduce the data enhancement techniques of the frequency mask and time mask to improve the modeling and generalization ability of the model for timing features. Through experimental validation on the TAU Spatial Sound Events 2019 development dataset, our approach significantly improves the performance of SELD compared to the two-stage network baseline model. Furthermore, the effectiveness of DCAM and the two-layer Bi-GRU structure is confirmed by performing ablation experiments.

The preparation method of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) samples for pure zirconium was successfully executed using a focused ion beam (FIB) system. These samples unveiled artifact hydrides induced during the FIB sample preparation process, which resulted from stress damage, ion implantation, and ion irradiation. An innovative solution was proposed to effectively reduce the effect of artifact hydrides for FIB-prepared samples of hydrogen-sensitive materials, such as zirconium alloys. This development lays the groundwork for further research on the micro/nanostructures of zirconium alloys after ion irradiation, thereby facilitating the study of corrosion mechanisms and the prediction of service life for nuclear fuel cladding materials. Furthermore, the solution proposed in this study is also applicable to TEM sample preparation using FIB for other hydrogen-sensitive materials such as titanium, magnesium, and palladium.

This article reports a simple hydrothermal method for synthesizing nickel disulfide (NiS 2 ) on the surface of fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) glass, followed by the deposition of 5 nm Au nanoparticles on the electrode surface by physical vapor deposition. This process ensures the uniform distribution of Au nanoparticles on the NiS 2 surface to enhance its conductivity. Finally, an Au@NiS 2 -FTO electrochemical biosensor is obtained for the detection of dopamine (DA). The composite material is characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), UV-Vis spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The electrochemical properties of the sensor are investigated using cyclic voltammetry (CV), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), and time current curves in a 0.1 M PBS solution (pH = 7.3). In the detection of DA, Au@NiS 2 -FTO exhibits a wide linear detection range (0.1~1000 μM), low detection limit (1 nM), and fast response time (0.1 s). After the addition of interfering substances, such as glucose, L-ascorbic acid, uric acid, CaCl 2 , NaCl, and KCl, the electrode potential remains relatively unchanged, demonstrating its strong anti-interference capability. It also demonstrates strong sensitivity and reproducibility. The obtained Au@NiS 2 -FTO provides a simple and easy-to-operate example for constructing nanometer catalysts with enzyme-like properties. These results provide a promising method utilizing Au coating to enhance the conductivity of transition metal sulfides.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have shown great potential in the treatment of several inflammatory diseases due to their immunomodulatory ability, which is mediated by exosomes secreted by MSCs (MSC-Exs). The incidence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is increasing globally, but there is currently no long-term effective treatment. As an emerging therapy, MSC-Exs have proven to be effective in alleviating IBD experimentally, and the specific mechanism continues to be explored. The gut microbiota plays an important role in the occurrence and development of IBD, and MSCs and MSC-Exs can effectively regulate gut microbiota in animal models of IBD, but the mechanism involved and whether the outcome can relieve the characteristic dysbiosis necessary to alleviate IBD still needs to be studied. This review provides current evidence on the effective modulation of the gut microbiota by MSC-Exs, offering a basis for further research on the pathogenic mechanism of IBD and MSC-Ex treatments through the improvement of gut microbiota.

Developing high-performance and low-cost protein purification materials is of great importance to meet the demands for highly purified proteins in biotechnological industries. Herein, a facile strategy was developed to design and construct high-efficiency protein absorption and separation media by combining aerogels' molding techniques and impregnation processes. Poly (ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol) (EVOH) nanofibrous aerogels (NFAs) were modified by grafting butane tetracarboxylic acid (BTCA) over them in situ. This modification was carried out using polyphosphoric acid as a catalyst. The resulting EVOH/BTCA NFAs exhibited favorable comprehensive properties. Benefiting from the highly interconnected porous structure, good underwater compressive properties, and abundant absorption ligands, the obtained EVOH/BTCA NFAs possessed a high static absorption capacity of 1082.13 mg/g to lysozyme and a short absorption equilibrium time of about 6 h. A high saturated dynamic absorption capacity for lysozyme (716.85 mg/g) was also realized solely by gravity. Furthermore, EVOH/BTCA NFAs displayed excellent reusability, good acid and alkaline resistance, and unique absorption selectivity performance. The successful synthesis of such aerogels can provide a potential candidate for next-generation protein absorbents for bio-separation and purification engineering.

Excessive extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition is a defining feature of cardiac fibrosis. Most notably, it is characterized by a significant change in the concentration and volume fraction of collagen I, a disproportionate deposition of collagen subtypes, and a disturbed ECM network arrangement, which directly affect the systolic and diastolic functions of the heart. Immune cells that reside within or infiltrate the myocardium, including macrophages, play important roles in fibroblast activation and consequent ECM remodeling. Through both direct and indirect connections to fibroblasts, monocyte-derived macrophages and resident cardiac macrophages play complex, bidirectional, regulatory roles in cardiac fibrosis. In this review, we discuss emerging interactions between fibroblasts and macrophages in physiology and pathologic conditions, providing insights for future research aimed at targeting macrophages to combat cardiac fibrosis.

Deferoxamine, an iron chelator used to treat diseases caused by excess iron, has had a Food and Drug Administration-approved status for many years. A large number of studies have confirmed that deferoxamine can reduce inflammatory response and promote angiogenesis. Blood vessels play a crucial role in sustaining vital life by facilitating the delivery of immune cells, oxygen, and nutrients, as well as eliminating waste products generated during cellular metabolism. Dysfunction in blood vessels may contribute significantly to the development of life-threatening diseases. Anti-angiogenesis therapy and pro-angiogenesis/angiogenesis strategies have been frequently recommended for various diseases. Herein, we describe the mechanism by which deferoxamine promotes angiogenesis and summarize its application in chronic wounds, bone repair, and diseases of the respiratory system. Furthermore, we discuss the drug delivery system of deferoxamine for treating various diseases, providing constructive ideas and inspiration for the development of new treatment strategies.

Seeds are the most important reproductive organs of higher plants, the beginning and end of a plant's lifecycle. They are very important to plant growth and development, and also an important factor affecting yield. In this study, genetic analysis and BSA-seq of the F 2 population crossed with the large-seeded material 'J16' and small-seeded material 'FJ5' were carried out, and the seed size locus was initially located within the 1.31 Mb region on chr10. In addition, 2281 F 2 plants were used to further reduce the candidate interval to 48.8 Kb. This region contains only one gene encoding the N-acetyltransferase (NAT) protein ( Bch10G006400 ). Transcriptome and expression analysis revealed that the gene was significantly more highly expressed in 'J16' than in 'FJ5'. Variation analysis of Bch10G006400 among parents and 50 chieh-qua germplasms revealed that as well as a nonsynonymous mutation (SNP_314) between parents, two mutations (SNP_400 and InDel_551) were detected in other materials. Combining these three mutations completely distinguished the seed size of the chieh-qua. GO and KEGG enrichment analyses revealed that DGEs played the most important roles in carbohydrate metabolism and plant hormone signal transduction, respectively. The results of this study provide important information for molecular marker-assisted breeding and help to reveal the molecular mechanism of seed size.

Li-rich manganese-based oxide (LRMO) cathode materials are considered to be one of the most promising candidates for next-generation lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) because of their high specific capacity (250 mAh g -1 ) and low cost. However, the inevitable irreversible structural transformation during cycling leads to large irreversible capacity loss, poor rate performance, energy decay, voltage decay, etc. Based on the recent research into LRMO for LIBs, this review highlights the research progress of LRMO in terms of crystal structure, charging/discharging mechanism investigations, and the prospects of the solution of current key problems. Meanwhile, this review summarizes the specific modification strategies and their merits and demerits, i.e., surface coating, elemental doping, micro/nano structural design, introduction of high entropy, etc. Further, the future development trend and business prospect of LRMO are presented and discussed, which may inspire researchers to create more opportunities and new ideas for the future development of LRMO for LIBs with high energy density and an extended lifespan.

In recent years, there has been a notable rise in the number of patients afflicted with laryngeal diseases, including cancer, trauma, and other ailments leading to voice loss. Currently, the market is witnessing a pressing demand for medical and healthcare products designed to assist individuals with voice defects, prompting the invention of the artificial throat (AT). This user-friendly device eliminates the need for complex procedures like phonation reconstruction surgery. Therefore, in this review, we will initially give a careful introduction to the intelligent AT, which can act not only as a sound sensor but also as a thin-film sound emitter. Then, the sensing principle to detect sound will be discussed carefully, including capacitive, piezoelectric, electromagnetic, and piezoresistive components employed in the realm of sound sensing. Following this, the development of thermoacoustic theory and different materials made of sound emitters will also be analyzed. After that, various algorithms utilized by the intelligent AT for speech pattern recognition will be reviewed, including some classical algorithms and neural network algorithms. Finally, the outlook, challenge, and conclusion of the intelligent AT will be stated. The intelligent AT presents clear advantages for patients with voice impairments, demonstrating significant social values.

The material library is an emerging, new data-driven approach for developing pharmaceutical process models. How many materials or samples should be involved in a particular application scenario is unclear, and the impact of sample size on process modeling is worth discussing. In this work, the direct compression process was taken as the research object, and the effects of different sample sizes of material libraries on partial least squares (PLS) modeling in the prediction of tablet tensile strength were investigated. A primary material library comprising 45 materials was built. Then, material subsets containing 5 × i ( i = 1, 2, 3, …, 8) materials were sampled from the primary material library. Each subset underwent sampling 1000 times to analyze variations in model fitting performance. Both hierarchical sampling and random sampling were employed and compared, with hierarchical sampling implemented with the help of the tabletability classification index d . For each subset, modeling data were organized, incorporating 18 physical properties and tableting pressure as the independent variables and tablet tensile strength as the dependent variable. A series of chemometric indicators was used to assess model performance and find important materials for model training. It was found that the minimum R 2 and RMSE values reached their maximum, and the corresponding values were kept almost unchanged when the sample sizes varied from 20 to 45. When the sample size was smaller than 15, the hierarchical sampling method was more reliable in avoiding low-quality few-shot PLS models than the random sampling method. Two important materials were identified as useful for building an initial material library. Overall, this work demonstrated that as the number of materials increased, the model's reliability improved. It also highlighted the potential for effective few-shot modeling on a small material library by controlling its information richness.

Sweet potato provides rich nutrients and bioactive substances for the human diet. In this study, the volatile organic compounds of five pigmented-fleshed sweet potato cultivars were determined, the characteristic aroma compounds were screened, and a correlation analysis was carried out with the aroma precursors. In total, 66 volatile organic compounds were identified. Terpenoids and aldehydes were the main volatile compounds, accounting for 59% and 17%, respectively. Fifteen compounds, including seven aldehydes, six terpenes, one furan, and phenol, were identified as key aromatic compounds for sweet potato using relative odor activity values (ROAVs) and contributed to flower, sweet, and fat flavors. The OR sample exhibited a significant presence of trans -β-Ionone, while the Y sample showed high levels of benzaldehyde. Starch, soluble sugars, 20 amino acids, and 25 fatty acids were detected as volatile compounds precursors. Among them, total starch (57.2%), phenylalanine (126.82 ± 0.02 g/g), and fatty acids (6.45 μg/mg) were all most abundant in Y, and LY contained the most soluble sugar (14.65%). The results of the correlation analysis revealed the significant correlations were identified between seven carotenoids and trans -β-Ionone, soluble sugar and nerol, two fatty acids and hexanal, phenylalanine and 10 fatty acids with benzaldehyde, respectively. In general, terpenoids and aldehydes were identified as the main key aromatic compounds in sweet potatoes, and carotenoids had more influence on the aroma of OR than other cultivars. Soluble sugars, amino acids, and fatty acids probably serve as important precursors for some key aroma compounds in sweet potatoes. These findings provide valuable insights for the formation of sweet potato aroma.

Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a dose-limiting painful neuropathy that occurs commonly during cancer management, which often leads to the discontinuation of medication. Previous studies suggest that the α9α10 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR)-specific antagonist αO-conotoxin GeXIVA[1,2] is effective in CIPN models; however, the related mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we analyzed the preventive effect of GeXIVA[1,2] on neuropathic pain in the long-term oxaliplatin injection-induced CIPN model. At the end of treatment, lumbar (L4-L6) spinal cord was extracted, and RNA sequencing and bioinformatic analysis were performed to investigate the potential genes and pathways related to CIPN and GeXIVA[1,2]. GeXIVA[1,2] inhibited the development of mechanical allodynia induced by chronic oxaliplatin treatment. Repeated injections of GeXIVA[1,2] for 3 weeks had no effect on the mice's normal pain threshold or locomotor activity and anxiety-like behavior, as evaluated in the open field test (OFT) and elevated plus maze (EPM). Our RNA sequencing results identified 209 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the CIPN model, and simultaneously injecting GeXIVA[1,2] with oxaliplatin altered 53 of the identified DEGs. These reverted genes were significantly enriched in immune-related pathways represented by the cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction pathway. Our findings suggest that GeXIVA[1,2] could be a potential therapeutic compound for chronic oxaliplatin-induced CIPN management.

Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei (EHP) is a microsporidian parasite that infects Litopenaeus vannamei , causing severe hepatopancreatic microsporidiosis (HPM) and resulting in significant economic losses. This study utilizes a combined analysis of transcriptomics and metabolomics to unveil the dynamic molecular interactions between EHP and its host, the Pacific white shrimp, during the early and late stages of infection. The results indicate distinct immunological, detoxification, and antioxidant responses in the early and late infection phases. During early EHP infection in shrimp, immune activation coincides with suppression of genes like Ftz-F1 and SEPs, potentially aiding parasitic evasion. In contrast, late infection shows a refined immune response with phagocytosis-enhancing down-regulation of Ftz-F1 and a resurgence in SEP expression. This phase is characterized by an up-regulated detoxification and antioxidant response, likely a defense against the accumulated effects of EHP, facilitating a stable host-pathogen relationship. In the later stages of infection, most immune responses return to baseline levels, while some immune genes remain active. The glutathione antioxidant system is suppressed early on but becomes activated in the later stages. This phenomenon could facilitate the early invasion of EHP while assisting the host in mitigating oxidative damage caused by late-stage infection. Notably, there are distinctive events in polyamine metabolism. Sustained up-regulation of spermidine synthase and concurrent reduction in spermine levels suggest a potential role of polyamines in EHP development. Throughout the infection process, significant differences in genes such as ATP synthase and hexokinase highlight the continuous influence on energy metabolism pathways. Additionally, growth-related pathways involving amino acids such as tryptophan, histidine, and taurine are disrupted early on, potentially contributing to the growth inhibition observed during the initial stages of infection. In summary, these findings elucidate the dynamic interplay between the host, Litopenaeus vannamei , and the parasite, EHP, during infection. Specific phase differences in immune responses, energy metabolism, and antioxidant processes underscore the intricate relationship between the host and the parasite. The disruption of polyamine metabolism offers a novel perspective in understanding the proliferation mechanisms of EHP. These discoveries significantly advance our comprehension of the pathogenic mechanisms of EHP and its interactions with the host.

Two triple interpenetrating Zn(II)-based MOFs were studied in this paper. Named [Zn 6 (1,4-bpeb) 4 (IPA) 6 (H 2 O)] n ( MOF-1 ) and {[Zn 3 (1,4-bpeb) 1.5 (DDBA) 3 ] n ·2DMF} ( MOF-2 ), {1,4-bpeb = 1,4-bis [2-(4-pyridy1) ethenyl]benze, IPA = Isophthalic acid, DDBA = 3,3'-Azodibenzoic acid}, they were synthesized by the hydrothermal method and were characterized and stability tested. The results showed that MOF-1 had good acid-base stability and solvent stability. Furthermore, MOF-1 had excellent green fluorescence and with different phenomena in different solvents, which was almost completely quenched in acetone. Based on this phenomenon, an acetone sensing test was carried out, where the detection limit of acetone was calculated to be 0.00365% (volume ratio). Excitingly, the MOF-1 could also be used as a proportional fluorescent probe to specifically detect tryptophan, with a calculated detection limit of 34.84 μM. Furthermore, the mechanism was explained through energy transfer and competitive absorption (fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET)) and internal filtration effect (IFE). For antibacterial purposes, the minimum inhibitory concentrations of MOF-1 against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were 19.52 µg/mL and 39.06 µg/mL, respectively, and the minimum inhibitory concentrations of MOF-2 against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were 68.36 µg/mL and 136.72 µg/mL, respectively.

The challenge of developing a high-efficiency microwave absorbent remains, because of the compatibility between microwave absorption and high-temperature-resistant performance in practical application. Herein, a facile method is used to obtain serial MXene/BN-zxy composites, where zx:y indicates the weight ratio of MXene and boron nitride (BN) in the composites, with adjustable microwave absorption performance (MAP) which can be regulated by the ratio of MXene and the BN nanosheet. In particular, the as-prepared absorbents with supercapacitance-like structure significantly enhanced the MAP and could be served more than 900 °C. The results of MAP reveal that the minimum reflection loss (RL) can reach -20.94 dB with a MXene/BN-101 composite coating thickness of 4.0 mm; the effective attenuation bandwidth (RL< -10 dB, i.e., 90% microwave energy is attenuated) is up to 9.71 GHz (7.94-17.65 GHz). From a detailed analysis, it is observed that attenuation is the critical limiting factor for MAPs rather than impedance mismatch, which can be assigned to the poor MAP of BN nanosheets. In any case, as-prepared absorbents have potential applications in the field of heating components.

Objective: We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of the efficacy and safety of nusinersen and risdiplam in the treatment of spinal muscular disease (SMA)., Methods: We screened the literature published in Pubmed, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane before July 2023 to conduct randomized controlled trials to test the treatment of SMA patients with nusinersen and risdiplam. The data were analyzed using Review Manager 5.4 software and Stata version 15.0 software., Results: A total of six randomized controlled trials were included, involving 728 SMA patients, to synthesize evidence. It is reported that nusinersen treatment was beneficial for increasing the score of the Hammersmith Functional Motor Scale-Expanded (HFMSE) (WMD: 4.90; 95% CI: 3.17, 6.63; p < 0.00001), Revised Upper Limb Module (RULM) (WMD: 3.70; 95% CI: 3.30, 4.10; p < 0.00001), and Hammersmith Infant Neurological Evaluation Section 2 (HINE-2) (WMD: 5.21; 95% CI: 4.83, 5.60; p < 0.00001). In addition, the risdiplam treatment group also showed statistically significant improvements in the HFMSE score (WMD:0.87; 95% CI: 0.05, 1.68; p = 0.04), the 32-item Motor Function Measure (MFM32) (WMD:1.48; 95% CI: 0.58, 2.38; p = 0.001), and (WMD: 1.29; 95% CI: 0.57, 2.01; p = 0.0005). Nusinersen and risdiplam did not cause a statistically significant increase in the RULM score for adverse events (OR: 0.93; 95% CI: 0.51, 1.7; p = 0.82) and for severe adverse events (OR: 0.77; 95% CI: 0.47, 1.27; p = 0.31)., Conclusion: Our analysis found that nusinersen and risdiplam treatment showed clinically meaningful improvement in motor function and a similar incidence rate of adverse events compared with the placebo. Further research should be carried out to provide a direct comparison between the two drugs in terms of safety and efficacy.

Mites have been a persistent infectious disease affecting both humans and animals since ancient times. In veterinary clinics, the primary approach for treating and managing mite infestations has long been the use of chemical acaricides. However, the widespread use of these chemicals has resulted in significant problems, including drug resistance, drug residues, and environmental pollution, limiting their effectiveness. To address these challenges, researchers have shifted their focus towards natural products that have shown promise both in the laboratory and real-world settings against mite infestations. Natural products have a wide variety of chemical structures and biological activities, including acaricidal properties. This article offers a comprehensive review of the acaricidal capabilities and mechanisms of action of natural products like plant extracts, natural compounds, algae, and microbial metabolites against common animal mites.

Polybutene-1 with form I crystals exhibits excellent creep resistance and environmental stress crack resistance. The filaments of polybutene-1 and its random copolymer with 4 mol% ethylene co-units were produced via extrusion melt spinning, which are expected to be in form I states and show outstanding mechanical properties. The variances in microstructure, crystallization-melting behavior, and mechanical properties between homopolymer and copolymer filaments were analyzed using SEM, SAXS/WAXD, DSC, and tensile tests. The crystallization of form II and subsequent phase transition into form I finished after the melt-spinning process in the copolymer sample while small amounts of form II crystals remained in homopolymer filaments. Surprisingly, copolymer filaments exhibited higher tensile strength and Young's modulus than homopolymer filaments, while the homopolymer films showed better mechanical properties than copolymer films. The high degree of orientation and long fibrous crystals play a critical role in the superior properties of copolymer filaments. The results indicate that the existence of ethylene increases the chain flexibility and benefits the formation of intercrystalline links during spinning, which contributes to an enhancement of mechanical properties. The structure-property correlation of melt-spun PB-1 filaments provides a reference for the development of polymer fibers with excellent creep resistance.

Proanthocyanidin (PRO) has been implicated in a variety of biological functions, such as antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-obesity effects. However, little is known about its safety dose for animals. To explore its safety and effect on growth performance and intestinal health, thirty weaned pigs were divided into five groups and fed with basal diet containing 0, 30, 300, 600, and 1200 mg/kg PRO for 42 days. Results showed that PRO supplementation at 30 and 300 mg/kg significantly decreased the feed/gain ratio (F:G) and diarrhea rate ( p < 0.05). PRO also increased the digestibilities of dry matter, ether extract, gross energy, and ash ( p < 0.05). Interestingly, PRO not only elevated the villus height and the ratio of villus height to crypt depth (V/C) in duodenum and jejunum ( p < 0.01), but also decreased the crypt depth in the duodenum ( p < 0.01). Moreover, PRO supplementation at 30, 300, and 600 mg/kg elevated the expression levels of mucin 1 ( MUC1 ), MUC2 , and fatty acid transport protein 1 (FATP-1 ) in the duodenum ( p < 0.05). The expression levels of FATP-4 in jejunum and ileum were also elevated by PRO ( p < 0.05). Importantly, histopathological findings of tissues (e.g., heart, liver, kidney, spleen, lungs, pancreas, thymus, mesenteric lymph nodes, stomach, small intestine), serum clinical chemistry, and major hematological parameters were not affected by PRO supplementation. These results suggest that PRO may act as a safe and effective supplement to decrease F:G and improve intestinal health in weaned pigs.

The pores and coarse lamellar Mg 17 Al 12 that inevitably occur in the weld zone are the major challenge for laser-welded magnesium (Mg) alloys including AZ31B. In order to improve microstructure uniformity and eliminate welding defects, a new process assisted with combination of heat and cryogenic treatment was applied in this study. The results showed that after solution treatment, the number and size of precipitates decreased and the uniformity of the microstructure improved. After cryogenic treatment, the lamellar Mg 17 Al 12 was cracked into particles, and the grain size was refined. After solution + cryogenic treatment, Al 8 Mn 5 substituted the lamellar Mg 17 Al 12 . Through studying the changes in microhardness, precipitates, and microstructure under different treatments, it was found that the conversation of Mg 17 Al 12 from lamellar state into particle-like state as well as the appearance of dispersed Al 8 Mn 5 particles played a second-phase strengthening role in improving the mechanical properties of Mg alloy laser-welded joint, and the tensile strength (258.60 MPa) and elongation (10.90%) of the sample were 4.4% and 32.6% higher than those of the as-welded joint., Competing Interests: The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper.

In order to improve the stability and economy of 4WID-4WIS (four-wheel independent drive-four-wheel independent steering) electric vehicles in trajectory tracking, this paper proposes a trajectory tracking coordinated control strategy considering energy consumption economy. First, a hierarchical chassis coordinated control architecture is designed, which includes target planning layer, and coordinated control layer. Then, the trajectory tracking control is decoupled based on the decentralized control structure. Expert PID and Model Predictive Control (MPC) are employed to realize longitudinal velocity tracking and lateral path tracking, respectively, which calculate generalized forces and moments. In addition, with the objective of optimal overall efficiency, the optimal torque distribution for each wheel is achieved using the Mutant Particle Swarm Optimization (MPSO) algorithm. Additionally, the modified Ackermann theory is used to distribute wheel angles. Finally, the control strategy is simulated and verified using Simulink. Comparing the control results of the average distribution strategy and the wheel load distribution strategy, it can be concluded that the proposed coordinated control not only provides good trajectory tracking but also greatly improves the overall efficiency of the motor operating points, which enhances the energy economy and realizes the multi-objective coordinated control of the chassis.

With the development of the chemical industry, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX) have gradually become the major indoor air pollutants. Various gas treatment techniques are widely used to prevent the physical and mental health hazards of BTEX in semi-enclosed spaces. Chlorine dioxide (ClO 2 ) is an alternative to chlorine as a secondary disinfectant with a strong oxidation ability, a wide range of action, and no carcinogenic effects. In addition, ClO 2 has a unique permeability which allows it to eliminate volatile contaminants from the source. However, little attention has been paid to the removal of BTEX by ClO 2 , due to the difficulty of removing BTEX in semi-enclosed areas and the lack of testing methods for the reaction intermediates. Therefore, this study explored the performance of ClO 2 advanced oxidation technology on both liquid and gaseous benzene, toluene, o-xylene, and m-xylene. The results showed that ClO 2 was efficient in the removal of BTEX. The byproducts were detected by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and the reaction mechanism was speculated using the ab initio molecular orbital calculations method. The results demonstrated that ClO 2 could remove the BTEX from the water and the air without causing secondary pollution.

Deep learning has a better output quality compared with traditional algorithms for video super-resolution (SR), but the network model needs large resources and has poor real-time performance. This paper focuses on solving the speed problem of SR; it achieves real-time SR by the collaborative design of a deep learning video SR algorithm and GPU parallel acceleration. An algorithm combining deep learning networks with a lookup table (LUT) is proposed for the video SR, which ensures both the SR effect and ease of GPU parallel acceleration. The computational efficiency of the GPU network-on-chip algorithm is improved to ensure real-time performance by three major GPU optimization strategies: storage access optimization, conditional branching function optimization, and threading optimization. Finally, the network-on-chip was implemented on a RTX 3090 GPU, and the validity of the algorithm was demonstrated through ablation experiments. In addition, SR performance is compared with existing classical algorithms based on standard datasets. The new algorithm was found to be more efficient than the SR-LUT algorithm. The average PSNR was 0.61 dB higher than the SR-LUT-V algorithm and 0.24 dB higher than the SR-LUT-S algorithm. At the same time, the speed of real video SR was tested. For a real video with a resolution of 540×540, the proposed GPU network-on-chip achieved a speed of 42 FPS. The new method is 9.1 times faster than the original SR-LUT-S fast method, which was directly imported into the GPU for processing.

Automotive radar pursues low cost and high performance, and especially hopes to improve the angular resolution under the condition of a limited number of multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) radar channels. Conventional time division multiplexing (TDM) MIMO technology has a limited ability to improve the angular resolution without increasing the number of channels. In this paper, a random time division multiplexing MIMO radar is proposed. First, the non-uniform linear array (NULA) and random time division transmission mechanism are combined in the MIMO system, and then a three-order sparse receiving tensor of a range-virtual aperture-pulse sequence is obtained during echo receiving. Next, this sparse three-order receiving tensor is recovered by using tensor completion technology. Finally, the range, velocity and angle measurements are completed for the recovered three-order receiving tensor signals. The effectiveness of this method is verified via simulations.

Porcine deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) causes diarrhea and vomiting in neonatal piglets worldwide and has the potential for cross-species transmission. Therefore, virus-like particles (VLPs) are promising vaccine candidates because of their safety and strong immunogenicity. To the best of our knowledge, the present study reported for the first time the generation of PDCoV VLPs using a baculovirus expression vector system, and electron micrograph analyses revealed that PDCoV VLPs appeared as spherical particles with a diameter similar to that of the native virions. Furthermore, PDCoV VLPs effectively induced mice to produce PDCoV-specific IgG and neutralizing antibodies. In addition, VLPs could stimulate mouse splenocytes to produce high levels of cytokines IL-4 and IFN-γ. Moreover, the combination of PDCoV VLPs and Freund's adjuvant could improve the level of the immune response. Together, these data showed that PDCoV VLPs could effectively elicit humoral and cellular immunity in mice, laying a solid foundation for developing VLP-based vaccines to prevent PDCoV infections.

This study aimed to enhance the real-time performance and accuracy of vigilance assessment by developing a hidden Markov model (HMM). Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals were collected and processed to remove noise and baseline drift. A group of 20 volunteers participated in the study. Their heart rate variability (HRV) was measured to train parameters of the modified hidden Markov model for a vigilance assessment. The data were collected to train the model using the Baum-Welch algorithm and to obtain the state transition probability matrix A^ and the observation probability matrix B^. Finally, the data of three volunteers with different transition patterns of mental state were selected randomly and the Viterbi algorithm was used to find the optimal state, which was compared with the actual state. The constructed vigilance assessment model had a high accuracy rate, and the accuracy rate of data prediction for these three volunteers exceeded 80%. Our approach can be used in wearable products to improve their vigilance level assessment functionality or in other fields that have key positions with high concentration requirements and monotonous repetitive work.

Bismaleimide (BMI) resin-based structural adhesives have excellent heat resistance, with important applications demonstrated in the bonding of high-temperature BMI composites. In this paper, we report an epoxy-modified BMI structural adhesive with excellent properties for bonding BMI-based CFRP. We prepared the BMI adhesive using epoxy-modified BMI as the matrix and PEK-C and core-shell polymers as synergistic tougheners. We found that the epoxy resins improve the process and bonding properties of BMI resin but slightly reduce thermal stability. PEK-C and core-shell polymers synergistically improve the toughness and bonding performances of the modified BMI adhesive system and allow the maintenance of heat resistance. The optimized BMI adhesive exhibits excellent heat resistance, with a high glass transition temperature of 208.6 °C and a high thermal degradation temperature of 425.4 °C. Most importantly, the optimized BMI adhesive exhibits satisfactory intrinsic bonding and thermal stability. It has a high shear strength of 32.0 MPa at room temperature and up to 17.9 MPa at 200 °C. The BMI adhesive-bonded composite joint has a high shear strength of 38.6 and 17.3 MPa at room temperature and 200 °C, respectively, indicating effective bonding and excellent heat resistance.

The appropriate management strategies for BI-RADS category 4a lesions among handheld ultrasound (HHUS) remain a matter of debate. We aimed to explore the role of automated breast ultrasound (ABUS) or the second-look mammography (MAM) adjunct to ultrasound (US) of 4a masses to reduce unnecessary biopsies. Women aged 30 to 69 underwent HHUS and ABUS from 2016 to 2017 at five high-level hospitals in China, with those aged 40 or older also accepting MAM. Logistic regression analysis assessed image variables correlated with false-positive lesions in US category 4a. Unnecessary biopsies, invasive cancer (IC) yields, and diagnostic performance among different biopsy thresholds were compared. A total of 1946 women (44.9 ± 9.8 years) were eligible for analysis. The false-positive rate of category 4a in ABUS was almost 65.81% (77/117), which was similar to HHUS (67.55%; 127/188). Orientation, architectural distortion, and duct change were independent factors associated with the false-positive lesions in 4a of HHUS, whereas postmenopausal, calcification, and architectural distortion were significant features of ABUS (all p < 0.05). For HHUS, both unnecessary biopsy rate and IC yields were significantly reduced when changing biopsy thresholds by adding MAM for US 4a in the total population (scenario #1:BI-RADS 3, 4, and 5; scenario #2: BI-RADS 4 and 5) compared with the current scenario (all p < 0.05). Notably, scenario #1 reduced false-positive biopsies without affecting IC yields when compared to the current scenario for ABUS ( p < 0.001; p = 0.125). The higher unnecessary biopsy rate of category 4a by ABUS was similar to HHUS. However, the second-look MAM adjunct to ABUS has the potential to safely reduce false-positive biopsies compared with HHUS.

Hypothermic oxygenated machine perfusion (HOPE) can enhance organ preservation and protect mitochondria from hypoxia-ischemic injury; however, an understanding of the underlying HOPE mechanism that protects mitochondria is somewhat lacking. We hypothesized that mitophagy may play an important role in HOPE mitochondria protection. Experimental rat liver grafts were exposed to 30 min of in situ warm ischemia. Then, grafts were procured, followed by cold storage for 3 or 4 h to mimic the conventional preservation and transportation time in donation after circulatory death (DCD) in clinical contexts. Next, the grafts underwent hypothermic machine perfusion (HMP) or HOPE for 1 h through portal vein only perfusion. The HOPE-treated group showed a better preservation capacity compared with cold storage and HMP, preventing hepatocyte damage, nuclear injury, and cell death. HOPE can increase mitophagy marker expression, promote mitophagy flux via the PINK1/Parkin pathway to maintain mitochondrial function, and reduce oxygen free radical generation, while the inhibition of autophagy by 3-methyladenine and chloroquine could reverse the protective effect. HOPE-treated DCD liver also demonstrated more changes in the expression of genes responsible for bile metabolism, mitochondrial dynamics, cell survival, and oxidative stress. Overall, HOPE attenuates hypoxia-ischemic injury in DCD liver by promoting mitophagy flux to maintain mitochondrial function and protect hepatocytes. Mitophagy could pave the way for a protective approach against hypoxia-ischemic injury in DCD liver.

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are a class of crystalline porous organic polymers with periodic networks that are constructed from small molecular units via covalent bonds, which have low densities, high porosity, large specific surface area, and ease of functionalization. The one-dimension nanochannels in COFs offer an effective means of transporting lithium ions while maintaining a stable structure over a wide range of temperatures. As a new category of ionic conductors, COFs exhibit unparalleled application potential in solid-state electrolytes. Here, we provide a comprehensive summary of recent applications and research progress for COFs in solid-state electrolytes of lithium metal batteries and discuss the possible development directions in the future. This review is expected to provide theoretical guidance for the design of high-performance solid-state electrolytes.

In order to study the effect of the rolling process and aging on the microstructure evolution and mechanical and tribological properties of the material, room-temperature rolling (RTR), cryogenic rolling (CR), and deep cryogenic treatment after rolling (RTR + DCT) experiments were carried out on a Cu-1.0Cr-0.1Zr alloy by a large plastic deformation process. Alloy plates were aged at 550 °C for 60 min. Different rolling processes and aging treatments have different effects on the microstructure and properties of alloy plates. The alloy plate is rolled and deformed, and the grains change from equiaxed to layered. Compared with RTR and RTR + DCT treatment, CR can promote the precipitation of the Cr phase and the degree of grain fragmentation is greater. After aging treatment, the Cu-Zr mesophase compounds in the microstructure increased, the alloys treated with CR and RTR + DCT appeared to be partially recrystallized, and the number of twins in the CR alloy plate was significantly more than that of RTR + DCT. The ultimate tensile strength of the alloy plate reached 553 MPa and the hardness reached 170 HV after cryogenic rolling with 90% deformation, which indicates that CR treatment can further improve the physical properties of the alloy plate. After aging at 550 °C for 60 min, the RTR 90% + DCT alloy plate has a tensile strength of 498 MPa and an elongation of 47.9%, which is three times that of the as-rolled alloy plate. From the research on the tribological properties of alloy plates, we learned that the main wear mechanisms in the wear forms of CR and RTR + DCT alloy plates are adhesive wear and abrasive wear. Adhesive wear is dominant in the early stage, while abrasive wear is the dominant mechanism in the later stage of wear. The friction coefficient of the CR 90% alloy plate in the TD direction is close to 0.55, and the wear rate is 2.9 × 10 -4 mm 3 /Nm, indicating that the CR treatment further improves the wear resistance of the alloy plates.

Hydrogel coatings that can endow various substrates with superior properties (e.g., biocompatibility, hydrophilicity, and lubricity) have wide applications in the fields of oil/water separation, antifouling, anti-bioadhesion, etc. Currently, the engineering of multifunctional hydrogel-coated materials with superwettability and water purification property using a simple and sustainable strategy is still largely uninvestigated but has a beneficial effect on the world. Herein, we successfully prepared poly(2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid) hydrogel/β-FeOOH-coated poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF/PAMPS/β-FeOOH) membrane through free-radical polymerization and the in situ mineralization process. In this work, owing to the combination of hydrophilic PAMPS hydrogel coating and β-FeOOH nanorods anchored onto PVDF membrane, the resultant PVDF/PAMPS/β-FeOOH membrane achieved outstanding superhydrophilicity/underwater superoleophobicity. Moreover, the membrane not only effectively separated surfactant-stabilized oil/water emulsions, but also possessed a long-term use capacity. In addition, excellent photocatalytic activity against organic pollutants was demonstrated so that the PVDF/PAMPS/β-FeOOH membrane could be utilized to deal with wastewater. It is envisioned that these hydrogel/β-FeOOH-coated PVDF membranes have versatile applications in the fields of oil/water separation and wastewater purification.

Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMDs) are conditions that affect the muscles of mastication and joints that connect the mandible to the base of the skull. Although TMJ disorders are associated with symptoms, the causes are not well proven. Chemokines play an important role in the pathogenesis of TMJ disease by promoting chemotaxis inflammatory cells to destroy the joint synovium, cartilage, subchondral bone, and other structures. Therefore, enhancing our understanding of chemokines is critical for developing appropriate treatment of TMJ. In this review, we discuss chemokines including MCP-1, MIP-1α, MIP-3a, RANTES, IL-8, SDF-1, and fractalkine that are known to be involved in TMJ diseases. In addition, we present novel findings that CCL2 is involved in β-catenin-mediated TMJ osteoarthritis (OA) and potential molecular targets for the development of effective therapies. The effects of common inflammatory factors, IL-1β and TNF-α, on chemotaxis are also described. In conclusion, this review aims to provide a theoretical basis for future chemokine-targeted therapies for TMJ OA.

In this study, we develop a framework for an intelligent and self-supervised industrial pick-and-place operation for cluttered environments. Our target is to have the agent learn to perform prehensile and non-prehensile robotic manipulations to improve the efficiency and throughput of the pick-and-place task. To achieve this target, we specify the problem as a Markov decision process (MDP) and deploy a deep reinforcement learning (RL) temporal difference model-free algorithm known as the deep Q-network (DQN). We consider three actions in our MDP; one is 'grasping' from the prehensile manipulation category and the other two are 'left-slide' and 'right-slide' from the non-prehensile manipulation category. Our DQN is composed of three fully convolutional networks (FCN) based on the memory-efficient architecture of DenseNet-121 which are trained together without causing any bottleneck situations. Each FCN corresponds to each discrete action and outputs a pixel-wise map of affordances for the relevant action. Rewards are allocated after every forward pass and backpropagation is carried out for weight tuning in the corresponding FCN. In this manner, non-prehensile manipulations are learnt which can, in turn, lead to possible successful prehensile manipulations in the near future and vice versa, thus increasing the efficiency and throughput of the pick-and-place task. The Results section shows performance comparisons of our approach to a baseline deep learning approach and a ResNet architecture-based approach, along with very promising test results at varying clutter densities across a range of complex scenario test cases.

This paper focuses on a new test method and theoretical model for measuring and evaluating the reopening pressure during hot dry rock hydraulic fracturing. Firstly, rock blocks of four lithologies were collected from the hot dry rock strata. Hydraulic fracturing tests at high temperatures in real-time were conducted using drilled cubic specimens and drilled cubic specimens with a pre-crack. Breakdown pressure, reopening pressure, and fracture toughness were measured, respectively. In addition, Brazilian splitting tests at high temperatures in real-time were performed using Brazilian disc specimens to measure tensile strength. Secondly, an empirical equation for evaluating the reopening pressure during hot dry rock secondary fracturing was developed based on fracture mechanics and hydraulic fracturing theory. Third, the values calculated by the new equation, considering breakdown pressure, fracture toughness, and tensile strength, were compared to the values determined by the classical equation and to measurement results. It was found that the new equation predicted closer reopening pressure to the measurement results, regardless of the lithology of the hot dry rock. Moreover, with increasing temperature in the specimens, the error between the value calculated by the new equation and the measurement value remained low. In contrast, the difference between the classical equation predictions and the measurement results was widened. In addition, the reopening pressure was positively correlated with tensile strength and fracture toughness. Variations in lithology and temperature affected tensile strength and fracture toughness, which then changed the hot dry rock reopening pressure.

The construction of the relation between the critical energy release rate, GIc, and the mode I fracture toughness, KIc, is of great significance for understanding the fracture mechanism and facilitating its application in engineering. In this study, fracture experiments using NSCB and CCCD specimens were conducted. The effects of specimen sizes, loading rate and lithology on the relation between GIc and KIc were studied. GIc was calculated by integrating the load-displacement curve according to Irwin's approach. Based on the measured KIc and GIc of the rock specimens, a relation between GIc and KIc was found to be different from the classical formula under linear elasticity. It was found that both specimen size and loading rate do not influence this relation.

Nickel-aluminum bronze (NAB) is widely used to fabricate flow-handling components because of its good cavitation corrosion (CE) resistance and superior casting property. The existence of different phases, e.g., the α phase, β phase and κ phase, can cause significant selective phase corrosion on NAB. However, under the action of CE with different times, the influence of these phases on the corrosion behavior of NAB, including selective phase corrosion and uniform corrosion, needs to be further studied, which can contribute to a deep understanding of the CE mechanism of NAB in corrosive media. In this work, the corrosion behavior of NAB in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution after different CE times was evaluated by electrochemical noise (EN), combined with scanning Kelvin probe force microscopy (SKPFM) and morphology analysis. The results showed that the corrosion behavior of NAB was closely associated with the variation in its complex microstructure after different CE times. Selective phase corrosion played a crucial role in the surface damage before 0.5 h of CE. With the prolongation of CE time, the stripping of κ phases decreased the degree of selective phase corrosion of NAB. As a result, both selective phase corrosion and uniform corrosion presented equal performances after 1 h of CE. However, after CE for 2-5 h, uniform corrosion had a dominant impact on the surface damage of NAB. Eventually, the corrosion mechanism of NAB after different CE times was clarified based on the relevant experimental results.

Arabinoxylan (AX) is a polysaccharide composed of arabinose, xylose, and a small number of other carbohydrates. AX comes from a wide range of sources, and its physicochemical properties and physiological functions are closely related to its molecular characterization, such as branched chains, relative molecular masses, and substituents. In addition, AX also has antioxidant, hypoglycemic, antitumor, and proliferative abilities for intestinal probiotic flora, among other biological activities. AXs of various origins have different molecular characterizations in terms of molecular weight, degree of branching, and structure, with varying structures leading to diverse effects of the biological activity of AX. Therefore, this report describes the physical properties, biological activities, and applications of AX in diverse plants, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for future research on AX as well as provide more options for crop breeding.

In the growth and development of plants, some non-coding small RNAs (sRNAs) not only mediate RNA interference at the post-transcriptional level, but also play an important regulatory role in chromatin modification at the transcriptional level. In these processes, the protein factors Argonaute (AGO), Dicer-like (DCL), and RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RDR) play very important roles in the synthesis of sRNAs respectively. Though they have been identified in many plants, the information about these gene families in strawberry was poorly understood. In this study, using a genome-wide analysis and a phylogenetic approach, 13 AGO , six DCL , and nine RDR genes were identified in diploid strawberry Fragaria vesca . We also identified 33 AGO , 18 DCL , and 28 RDR genes in octoploid strawberry Fragaria × ananassa , studied the expression patterns of these genes in various tissues and developmental stages of strawberry, and researched the response of these genes to some hormones, finding that almost all genes respond to the five hormone stresses. This study is the first report of a genome-wide analysis of AGO , DCL , and RDR gene families in Fragaria spp., in which we provide basic genomic information and expression patterns for these genes. Additionally, this study provides a basis for further research on the functions of these genes and some evidence for the evolution between diploid and octoploid strawberries.

Abnormal microRNA (miRNA) functions play significant roles in various pathological processes. Thus, predicting drug-miRNA associations (DMA) may hold great promise for identifying the potential targets of drugs. However, discovering the associations between drugs and miRNAs through wet experiments is time-consuming and laborious. Therefore, it is significant to develop computational prediction methods to improve the efficiency of identifying DMA on a large scale. In this paper, a multiple features integration model (MFIDMA) is proposed to predict drug-miRNA association. Specifically, we first formulated known DMA as a bipartite graph and utilized structural deep network embedding (SDNE) to learn the topological features from the graph. Second, the Word2vec algorithm was utilized to construct the attribute features of the miRNAs and drugs. Third, two kinds of features were entered into the convolution neural network (CNN) and deep neural network (DNN) to integrate features and predict potential target miRNAs for the drugs. To evaluate the MFIDMA model, it was implemented on three different datasets under a five-fold cross-validation and achieved average AUCs of 0.9407, 0.9444 and 0.8919. In addition, the MFIDMA model showed reliable results in the case studies of Verapamil and hsa-let-7c-5p, confirming that the proposed model can also predict DMA in real-world situations. The model was effective in analyzing the neighbors and topological features of the drug-miRNA network by SDNE. The experimental results indicated that the MFIDMA is an accurate and robust model for predicting potential DMA, which is significant for miRNA therapeutics research and drug discovery.

For system identification under impulsive-noise environments, the gradient-based generalized maximum correntropy criterion (GB-GMCC) algorithm can achieve a desirable filtering performance. However, the gradient method only uses the information of the first-order derivative, and the corresponding stagnation point of the method can be a maximum point, a minimum point or a saddle point, and thus the gradient method may not always be a good selection. Furthermore, GB-GMCC merely uses the current input signal to update the weight vector; facing the highly correlated input signal, the convergence rate of GB-GMCC will be dramatically damaged. To overcome these problems, based on the Newton recursion method and the data-reusing method, this paper proposes a robust adaptive filtering algorithm, which is called the Newton recursion-based data-reusing GMCC (NR-DR-GMCC). On the one hand, based on the Newton recursion method, NR-DR-GMCC can use the information of the second-order derivative to update the weight vector. On the other hand, by using the data-reusing method, our proposal uses the information of the latest M input vectors to improve the convergence performance of GB-GMCC. In addition, to further enhance the filtering performance of NR-DR-GMCC, a random strategy can be used to extract more information from the past M input vectors, and thus we obtain an enhanced NR-DR-GMCC algorithm, which is called the Newton recursion-based random data-reusing GMCC (NR-RDR-GMCC) algorithm. Compared with existing algorithms, simulation results under system identification and acoustic echo cancellation are conducted and validate that NR-RDR-GMCC can provide a better filtering performance in terms of filtering accuracy and convergence rate.

A study by Tsvetkov et al. recently published a proposed novel form of copper-induced cell death in Science ; however, few studies have looked into the possible mechanism in soft tissue sarcoma (STS). Herein, this study sought to investigate the function of cuproptosis-related genes (CRGs) in the development of tumor-associated immune cells and the prognosis of sarcoma. Herein, this study aimed to explore the role of cuproptosis-related genes (CRGs) in the development, tumor-associated immune cells, and the prognosis of sarcoma., Methods: The prognostic model was established via the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) algorithm as well as multivariate Cox regression analysis. The stromal scores, immune scores, ESTIMA scores, and tumor purity of sarcoma patients were evaluated by the ESTIMATE algorithm. Functional analyses were performed to investigate the underlying mechanisms of immune cell infiltration and the prognosis of CRGs in sarcoma., Results: Two molecular subgroups with different CRG expression patterns were recognized, which showed that patients with a higher immune score and more active immune status were prone to have better prognostic survival. Moreover, GO and KEGG analyses showed that these differentially expressed CRGs were mainly enriched in metabolic/ions-related signaling pathways, indicating that CRGs may have impacts on the immune cell infiltration and prognosis of sarcoma via regulating the bioprocess of mitochondria and consequently affecting the immune microenvironment. The expression levels of CRGs were closely correlated to the immunity condition and prognostic survival of sarcoma patients., Conclusions: The interaction between cuproptosis and immunity in sarcoma may provide a novel insight into the study of molecular mechanisms and candidate biomarkers for the prognosis, resulting in effective treatments for sarcoma patients.

As an electrode material, LiFePO 4 has been extensively studied in the field of energy conversion and storage due to its inexpensive cost and excellent safety, as well as good cycling stability. However, it remains a challenge to obtain LiFePO 4 electrode materials with acceptable discharge capacity at low temperature. Here, micro/nano-structured LiFePO 4 electrode materials with grape-like morphology were fabricated via a facile solvothermal approach using ethanol and OA as the co-solvent, the surfactant as well as the carbon source. The structure and electrochemical properties of the LiFePO 4 material were investigated with x-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (SEM), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and the formation mechanism of the self-assembled micro/nano-structured LiFePO 4 was discussed as well. The micro/nano-structured LiFePO 4 electrode materials exhibited a high discharge capacity (142 mAh·g -1 ) at a low temperature of 0 °C, and retained 102 mAh·g -1 when the temperature was decreased to -20 °C. This investigation can provide a reference for the design of micro/nano-structured electrode materials with improvement of the electrochemical performance at low temperature.

Given the complexity of the application scenarios of rolling bearing and the severe scarcity of fault samples, a solution to the issue of fault diagnosis under varying working conditions along with the absence of fault samples is required. A numerical model-driven cross-domain fault diagnosis method targeting variable working conditions is proposed based on the cross-Domain Nuisance Attribute Projection (cDNAP). Firstly, the simulation datasets consisting of multiple fault types under variable working conditions are constructed to solve the problem of incomplete fault samples. Secondly, the simulation datasets are expanded by means of generating adversarial network to ensure sufficient samples for subsequent model training. Finally, cDNAP is used to obtain the cross-domain simulation projection matrix, which eliminates the variance in the distribution of measured and simulated sample features under varying working conditions. The experimental results of cross-domain for variable working conditions show that the diagnostic accuracy reaches up to 99%. Compared with DANN, DSAN, and DAAN domain adversarial neural networks, the proposed method performs better in bearing fault diagnosis.

The interaction of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) with their receptor (RAGE) elicits oxidative stress and inflammation, which is involved in the development of breast cancer. However, large-scale population-based evidence exploring genetically modified circulating levels of AGEs-RAGE axis with risk and mortality of breast cancer is scarce. We recruited 1051 pairs of age-matched breast cancers and controls and measured plasma AGEs and sRAGE concentrations by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Multivariate logistic regression and Cox proportional hazard model were used to calculate the effects of plasma levels and genetic variants of the AGEs-RAGE axis and their combined effects on breast cancer risk and prognosis, respectively. Furthermore, linear regression was performed to assess the modifications in plasma AGEs/sRAGE levels by genetic predisposition. Higher levels of AGEs and AGEs/sRAGE-ratio were associated with an increased risk of breast cancer, but sRAGE levels were negatively associated with breast cancer risk, especially in women <60 years. We also observed a positive association between AGEs and the bad prognosis of breast cancer. Although we did not observe a significant contribution of genetic variants to breast cancer risk, rs2070600 and rs1800624 in the AGER gene were dose-dependently correlated with sRAGE levels. Further, compared to the haplotype CT at the lowest quartile of AGEs, haplotypes TT and TA were prominently associated with breast cancer risk in the highest quartile of AGEs. This study depicted a significant association between circulating levels of AGEs-RAGE axis and breast cancer risk and mortality and revealed the potential of plasma AGEs, especially coupled with AGER polymorphism as biomarkers of breast cancer.
