Accurate and fast traffic prediction is the data-based foundation for achieving traffic control and management, and the accuracy of prediction results will directly affect the effectiveness of traffic control and management. This paper proposes a new spatiotemporal periodic polynomial model for road traffic, which integrates the temporal, spatial, and periodic features of speed time series and can effectively handle the nonlinear mapping relationship from input to output. In terms of the model, we establish a road traffic speed prediction model based on polynomial regression. In terms of spatial feature extraction methods, we introduce a maximum mutual information coefficient spatial feature extraction method. In terms of periodic feature extraction methods, we introduce a periodic trend modeling method into the prediction of speed time series, and effective fusion is carried out. Four strategies are evaluated based on the Guangzhou road speed dataset: a univariate polynomial model, a spatiotemporal polynomial model, a periodic polynomial model, and a spatiotemporal periodic polynomial model. The test results show that the three methods proposed in this article can effectively improve prediction accuracy. Comparing the spatiotemporal periodic polynomial model with multiple machine learning models and deep learning models, the prediction accuracy is improved by 5.94% compared to the best feedforward neural network. The research in this article can effectively deal with the temporal, spatial, periodic, and nonlinear characteristics of speed prediction, and to a certain extent, improve the accuracy of speed prediction. Traffic state classification and relevance calculation at intersections are both difficult problems in traffic control. In this paper, we propose an intersection relevance model based on a temporal graph attention network, which can solve the above two problems at the same time. First, the intersection features and interaction time of the intersections are regarded as input quantities together with the initial labels of the traffic data. Then, they are inputted into the temporal graph attention (TGAT) model to obtain the classification accuracy of the target intersections in four states—free, stable, slow moving, and congested—and the obtained neighbouring intersection weights are used as the correlation between the intersections. Finally, it is validated by VISSIM simulation experiments. In terms of classification accuracy, the TGAT model has a higher classification accuracy than the three traditional classification models and can cope well with the uneven distribution of the number of samples. The information gain algorithm from the information entropy theory was used to derive the average delay as the most influential factor on intersection status. The correlation from the TGAT model positively correlates with traffic flow, making it interpretable. Using this correlation to control the division of subareas improves the road network's operational efficiency more than the traditional correlation model does. Information about spatial distribution (OD flows) is a key element in traffic management systems in urban transport networks that enables efficient traffic control and decisions to redirect traffic to less congested sections of the network in emergencies. With the development of modern techniques of remote sensing, more and more advanced methods are used to measure traffic and determine OD flows. However, they may produce results with different levels of errors caused by various factors. The article examines the impact of traffic volume and its variability on the error values of short-term prediction of the OD matrix in the urban network. The OD flows were determined using a deep learning network based on data obtained from video remote sensing devices. These data were recorded at earlier intervals concerning the forecasting time. The extent to which there is a correlation between the size of OD flows and the prediction error was examined. The most frequently used measure of prediction accuracy, i.e., MAPE (mean absolute percentage error), was considered. The analysis carried out made it possible to determine the ranges of traffic flow rate for which the MAPE stabilizes at the level of approximately 6%. A set of video remote sensing devices was used to collect spatiotemporal data. They were located at the entrances and exits from the study area on important roads of a medium-sized city in Poland. The conclusions obtained may be helpful in further research on improving methods to determine OD matrices and estimate their reliability. Machine learning (ML) methods, particularly Reinforcement Learning (RL), have gained widespread attention for optimizing traffic signal control in intelligent transportation systems. However, existing ML approaches often exhibit limitations in scalability and adaptability, particularly within large traffic networks. This paper introduces an innovative solution by integrating decentralized graph-based multi-agent reinforcement learning (DGMARL) with a Digital Twin to enhance traffic signal optimization, targeting the reduction of traffic congestion and network-wide fuel consumption associated with vehicle stops and stop delays. In this approach, DGMARL agents are employed to learn traffic state patterns and make informed decisions regarding traffic signal control. The integration with a Digital Twin module further facilitates this process by simulating and replicating the real-time asymmetric traffic behaviors of a complex traffic network. The evaluation of this proposed methodology utilized PTV-Vissim, a traffic simulation software, which also serves as the simulation engine for the Digital Twin. The study focused on the Martin Luther King (MLK) Smart Corridor in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA, by considering symmetric and asymmetric road layouts and traffic conditions. Comparative analysis against an actuated signal control baseline approach revealed significant improvements. Experiment results demonstrate a remarkable 55.38% reduction in Eco_PI, a developed performance measure capturing the cumulative impact of stops and penalized stop delays on fuel consumption, over a 24 h scenario. In a PM-peak-hour scenario, the average reduction in Eco_PI reached 38.94%, indicating the substantial improvement achieved in optimizing traffic flow and reducing fuel consumption during high-demand periods. These findings underscore the effectiveness of the integrated DGMARL and Digital Twin approach in optimizing traffic signals, contributing to a more sustainable and efficient traffic management system. Currently, 1060 aluminum alloy is widely applied in the electronics industry, construction, the aerospace field, traffic engineering, decorations, and the consumer goods market for its good chemical, physical, and mechanical properties. In general, excellent processing property is necessary and important for the manufacturing of complicated panels. In this paper, a special 2D ultrasonic vibration incremental forming method is designed to improve its plasticity and mechanical properties. Three kind of processing methods, including traditional single-point incremental forming, longitudinal ultrasonic vibration incremental forming, and 2D ultrasonic vibration incremental forming, are used for the flexible manufacturing of cones and cylindrical cups of 1060 aluminum alloy sheet. Then, micro-hardness tests, residual stress tests, and scanning electron microscopy tests are carried out to probe the changes in micro-structure and mechanical properties and to analyze the effects of different types of ultrasonic vibration on the plasticity and fracture characteristic of 1060 aluminum alloy. It is proven that 2D ultrasonic vibration facilitates the improvement of plasticity and surface qualities of 1060 aluminum alloy better than the other two processing methods. Therefore, the novel 2D ultrasonic vibration incremental forming process possesses substantial application value for the flexible and rapid manufacturing of complicated thin-walled component of aluminum alloy. The continuous evolution of artificial intelligence and cyber–physical systems has presented promising opportunities for optimizing traffic signal control in densely populated urban areas, with the aim of alleviating traffic congestion. One area that has garnered significant interest from both researchers and practitioners is the application of deep reinforcement learning (DRL) in traffic signal control. However, DRL-based algorithms often suffer from instability due to the dynamic nature of traffic flows. Discrepancies between the environments used for training and those encountered during deployment often lead to operational failures. Moreover, conventional DRL-based traffic signal control algorithms tend to reveal vulnerabilities when faced with unforeseen events, such as sensor failure. These challenges highlight the need for innovative solutions to enhance the robustness and adaptability of such systems. To address these pertinent issues, this paper introduces StageLight, a novel two-stage multiscale learning approach, which involves learning optimal timings on a coarse time scale in stage 1, while finetuning them on a finer time scale in stage 2. With the increasing number of urban vehicles, as well as the current situation of non-intelligent traffic control systems, spatiotemporal non-uniform traffic resource occupation, and limited traffic planning and design, existing urban traffic planning methods cannot effectively solve problems such as frequent traffic congestion and uncontrollable commuting time for residents. In order to solve the above problems, this paper first constructs a multi-queue, multi-server queuing model based on the server vacation and a multi-hop cascaded queuing model from the perspective of local intersections and global commuting paths. We analyze the theoretical changes in passage delay costs at local intersections and on global commuting paths as a function of traffic flow and the random duration of traffic signals. On this basis, this article proposes a collaborative intelligent traffic planning algorithm based on artificial intelligence, which utilizes traffic sensors to dynamically perceive traffic congestion status and collaboratively plans the optimal duration of traffic signals and the optimal driving path of vehicles from both local and global perspectives, thereby maximizing the on-time arrival ratio of vehicles while ensuring the required commuting delay. The simulation results show that the proposed method can increase the on-time arrival ratio of vehicles by at least 20% compared to contrast methods while meeting the requirements relating to commuting delays. A vehicle detection algorithm is an indispensable component of intelligent traffic management and control systems, influencing the efficiency and functionality of the system. In this paper, we propose a lightweight improvement method for the YOLOv5 algorithm based on integrated perceptual attention, with few parameters and high detection accuracy. First, we propose a lightweight module IPA with a Transformer encoder based on integrated perceptual attention, which leads to a reduction in the number of parameters while capturing global dependencies for richer contextual information. Second, we propose a lightweight and efficient multiscale spatial channel reconstruction (MSCCR) module that does not increase parameter and computational complexity and facilitates representative feature learning. Finally, we incorporate the IPA module and the MSCCR module into the YOLOv5s backbone network to reduce model parameters and improve accuracy. The test results show that, compared with the original model, the model parameters decrease by about 9%, the average accuracy (mAP@50) increases by 3.1%, and the FLOPS does not increase. This paper introduces a novel approach, Visible Light Communication (VLC), to optimize urban intersections by integrating VLC localization services with learning-based traffic signal control. The system enhances communication between connected vehicles and infrastructure using headlights, streetlights, and traffic signals to transmit information. Through Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Infrastructure-to-Vehicle (I2V) interactions, joint data transmission and collection occur via mobile optical receivers. The goal is to reduce waiting times for pedestrians and vehicles, enhancing overall traffic safety by employing flexible and adaptive measures accommodating diverse traffic movements. VLC cooperative mechanisms, transmission range, relative pose concepts, and queue/request/response interactions help balance traffic flow and improve road network performance. Evaluation in the SUMO urban mobility simulator demonstrates advantages, reducing waiting and travel times for both vehicles and pedestrians. The system employs a reinforcement learning scheme for effective traffic signal scheduling, utilizing VLC-ready vehicles to communicate positions, destinations, and routes. Developing appropriate signal timing strategies is a primary concern in traffic signal control; however, professionals are constrained by predefined controller options. Existing signal controllers in North America adhere to National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) standards with ring-barrier control (RBC) design. Due to unique traffic conditions and objectives for each traffic mode, conflicts arise, making it challenging to devise suitable traffic control strategies within current controllers. The limitations include inflexibility in defining pretimed signal diagrams, modifying them, and defining algorithms for modification. This paper introduces the event-based controller (EBC) framework, implemented in DUMKA_E software, capable of replicating NEMA-based RBC functionalities while providing additional flexibility beyond conventional RBC controllers. The EBC eliminates the asymmetry of flexibilities in existing traffic controller frameworks, addressing the challenges mentioned. Overcoming critical limitations of RBC, such as barrier constraints and restricted functionalities to built-in algorithms, the EBC empowers professionals to craft custom traffic signal control strategies. Unlike approaches enhancing RBC with complex computation, the EBC offers flexible functionalities without sacrificing simplicity. The study shows that the EBC's fundamental concepts are no more intricate than RBC's, positioning the EBC as a potential traffic controller framework. The paper establishes the EBC's capability to reproduce RBC controllers' core logic, showcasing advanced abilities for more efficient control logic than RBC. Sensor networks are used in an increasing number and variety of application areas, like traffic control or river monitoring. Sensors in these networks measure parameters of interest defined by domain experts and send these measurements to a central location for storage, viewing and analysis. Temporal graph data models, whose nodes contain time-series data reported by the sensors, have been proposed to model and analyze these networks in order to take informed and timely decisions on their operation. Temporal paths are first-class citizens in this model and some classes of them have been identified in the literature. Queries aimed at finding these paths are denoted as (temporal) path queries. In spite of these efforts, many interesting problems remain open and, in this work, we aim at answering some of them. More concretely, we characterize the classes of temporal paths that can be defined in a sensor network in terms of the well-known Allen's temporal algebra. We also show that, out of the 8192 possible interval relations in this algebra, only 11 satisfy two desirable properties that we define: transitivity and robustness. We show how these properties and the paths that satisfy them are relevant in practice by means of a real-world use case consisting of an analysis of salinity that appears close to the Scheldt river in Flanders, Belgium, during high tides occurring in the North Sea. Traffic signal priority issues have been a research subject for several decades in Poland and worldwide. Traffic control algorithms have evolved considerably during this period and have become increasingly advanced. Most of them operate within coordinated street sequences, which adds to their complexity. Tramway priority affects traffic conditions for other road users, so many aspects must be taken into account when choosing a priority solution. Typically, one of the main criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of priority is reducing travel time for the priority vehicle while ensuring that the travel times of other traffic participants through the intersection are maintained or slightly deteriorated. However, the energy aspects are often overlooked. This publication aims to investigate how local priority for tramways in traffic signals of coordinated streets affects energy consumption for tramway traction needs. The study was conducted using a microscopic modeling method with PTV Vissim software (ver. 2021). The models were built for coordinated sequences with different levels of priority. Real traffic control algorithms with priority were implemented into the model on the sequence of Marymoncka Street and Grochowska Street in Warsaw. Then, by introducing changes to the parameters of the algorithms, their effect on traffic characteristics, including estimated power consumption, was studied. The results obtained from the computer simulation were statistically processed using R software (ver. 4.3.2). The analysis results prove the effectiveness of tramway priority operation, show its impact on electricity consumption, and allow us to determine the limits of its effective application. Thus, they complement the knowledge of the impact of tramway priority on traffic. The research results also have practical value, as they help us to make rational decisions in the process of designing traffic control algorithms at intersections with a multi-criteria approach. Traffic simulations are valuable tools for urban mobility planning and operation, particularly in large cities. Simulation-based microscopic models have enabled traffic engineers to understand local transit and transport behaviors more deeply and manage urban mobility. However, for the simulations to be effective, the transport network and user behavior parameters must be calibrated to mirror real scenarios. In general, calibration is performed manually by traffic engineers who use their knowledge and experience to adjust the parameters of the simulator. Unfortunately, there is still no systematic and automatic process for calibrating traffic simulation networks, although some methods have been proposed in the literature. This study proposes a methodology that facilitates the calibration process, where an artificial neural network (ANN) is trained to learn the behavior of the transport network of interest. The ANN used is the Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP), trained with back-propagation methods. Based on this learning procedure, the neural network can select the optimized values of the simulation parameters that best mimic the traffic conditions of interest. Experiments considered two microscopic models of traffic and two psychophysical models (Wiedemann 74 and Wiedemann 99). The microscopic traffic models are located in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, Brazil. Moreover, we tested the different configurations of the MLP (layers and numbers of neurons) as well as several variations of the backpropagation training method: Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD), Adam, Adagrad, Adadelta, Adamax, and Nadam. The results of the experiments show that the proposed methodology is accurate and efficient, leading to calibration with a correlation coefficient greater than 0.8, when the calibrated parameters generate more visible effects on the road network, such as travel times, vehicle counts, and average speeds. For the psychophysical parameters, in the most simplified model (W74), the correlation coefficient was greater than 0.7. The advantage of using ANN for the automatic calibration of simulation parameters is that it allows traffic engineers to carry out comprehensive studies on a large number of future scenarios, such as at different times of the day, as well as on different days of the week and months of the year. Smart agricultural systems have received a great deal of interest in recent years because of their potential for improving the efficiency and productivity of farming practices. These systems gather and analyze environmental data such as temperature, soil moisture, humidity, etc., using sensor networks and Internet of Things (IoT) devices. This information can then be utilized to improve crop growth, identify plant illnesses, and minimize water usage. However, dealing with data complexity and dynamism can be difficult when using traditional processing methods. As a solution to this, we offer a novel framework that combines Machine Learning (ML) with a Reinforcement Learning (RL) algorithm to optimize traffic routing inside Software-Defined Networks (SDN) through traffic classifications. ML models such as Logistic Regression (LR), Random Forest (RF), k-nearest Neighbours (KNN), Support Vector Machines (SVM), Naive Bayes (NB), and Decision Trees (DT) are used to categorize data traffic into emergency, normal, and on-demand. The basic version of RL, i.e., the Q-learning (QL) algorithm, is utilized alongside the SDN paradigm to optimize routing based on traffic classes. It is worth mentioning that RF and DT outperform the other ML models in terms of accuracy. Our results illustrate the importance of the suggested technique in optimizing traffic routing in SDN environments. Integrating ML-based data classification with the QL method improves resource allocation, reduces latency, and improves the delivery of emergency traffic. Identifying early special traffic events is crucial for efficient traffic control management. If there are a sufficient number of vehicles equipped with automatic event detection and report gadgets, this enables a more rapid response to special events, including road debris, unexpected pedestrians, accidents, and malfunctioning vehicles. To address the needs of such a system and service, we propose a framework for an in-vehicle module-based special traffic event and emergency detection and safe driving monitoring service, which utilizes the modified ResNet classification algorithm to improve the efficiency of traffic management on highways. Due to the fact that this type of classification problem has scarcely been proposed, we have adapted various classification algorithms and corresponding datasets specifically designed for detecting special traffic events. By utilizing datasets containing data on road debris and malfunctioning or crashed vehicles obtained from Korean highways, we demonstrate the feasibility of our algorithms. Our main contributions encompass a thorough adaptation of various deep-learning algorithms and class definitions aimed at detecting actual emergencies on highways. We have also developed a dataset and detection algorithm specifically tailored for this task. As urban areas continue to expand, traffic congestion has emerged as a significant challenge impacting urban governance and economic development. Frequent regional traffic congestion has become a primary factor hindering urban economic growth and social activities, necessitating improved regional traffic management. Addressing regional traffic optimization and control methods based on the characteristics of regional congestion has become a crucial and complex issue in the field of traffic management and control research. This paper focuses on the macroscopic fundamental diagram (MFD) and aims to tackle the control problem without relying on traffic determination information. To address this, we introduce the Q-learning (QL) algorithm in reinforcement learning and the Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (DDPG) algorithm in deep reinforcement learning. Subsequently, we propose the MFD-QL perimeter control model and the MFD-DDPG perimeter control model. We conduct numerical analysis and simulation experiments to verify the effectiveness of the MFD-QL and MFD-DDPG algorithms. The trustworthiness of a system is not just about proving the identity or integrity of the hardware but also extends to the data, control, and management planes of communication between devices and the software they are running. This trust in data and device integrity is desirable for Internet of Things (IoT) systems, especially in critical environments. In this study, we developed a security framework, IoTAttest, for building IoT systems that leverage the Trusted Platform Module 2.0 and remote attestation technologies to enable the establishment of IoT devices' collected data and control plan traffic integrity. After presenting the features and reference architecture of IoTAttest, we evaluated the privacy preservation and validity through the implementation of two proof-of-concept IoT applications that were designed by two teams of university students based on the reference architecture. After the development, the developers answered open questions regarding their experience and perceptions of the framework's usability, limitations, scalability, extensibility, potential, and security. The results indicate that IoTAttest can be used to develop IoT systems with effective attestation to achieve device and data integrity. The proof-of-concept solutions' outcomes illustrate the functionalities and performance of the IoT framework. In order to optimize the functionality of automated guidance vehicles (AGVs) in logistics workshops, a wireless charging and task-based logistics intelligent dispatch system was developed based on the Internet of Things. This system aimed to improve freight efficiency in the workshop's logistics system. The scheduling system successfully addressed the round-trip scheduling issue between AGVs and multiple tasks through two degrees of improvement: the application of AGVs and task path planning. To handle conflict coordination and AGV cluster path planning, a shortest path planning algorithm based on the A* search algorithm was proposed, and the traffic control law was enhanced. The initial population of genetic algorithms, which used greedy algorithms to solve problems, was found to be too large in terms of task distribution. To address this, the introduction of a few random individuals ensured population diversity and helped avoid local optima. Turbulence-degraded image frames are distorted by both turbulent deformations and space–time varying blurs. Restoration of the atmospheric turbulence-degraded image is of great importance in the state of affairs, such as remoting sensing, surveillance, traffic control, and astronomy. While traditional supervised learning uses lots of simulated distorted images for training, it has poor generalization ability for real degraded images. To address this problem, a novel blind restoration network that only inputs a single turbulence-degraded image is presented, which is mainly used to reconstruct the real atmospheric turbulence distorted images. In addition, the proposed method does not require pre-training, and only needs to input a single real turbulent degradation image to output a high-quality result. Meanwhile, to improve the self-supervised restoration effect, Regularization by Denoising (RED) is introduced to the network, and the final output is obtained by averaging the prediction of multiple iterations in the trained model. Experiments are carried out with real-world turbulence-degraded data by implementing the proposed method and four reported methods, and we use four non-reference indicators for evaluation, among which Average Gradient, NIQE, and BRISQUE have achieved state-of-the-art effects compared with other methods. As a result, our method is effective in alleviating distortions and blur, restoring image details, and enhancing visual quality. Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANETs) need methods to control traffic caused by a high volume of traffic during day and night, the interaction of vehicles, and pedestrians, vehicle collisions, increasing travel delays, and energy issues. Routing is one of the most critical problems in VANET. One of the machine learning categories is reinforcement learning (RL), which uses RL algorithms to find a more optimal path. According to the feedback they get from the environment, these methods can affect the system through learning from previous actions and reactions. This paper provides a comprehensive review of various methods such as reinforcement learning, deep reinforcement learning, and fuzzy learning in the traffic network, to obtain the best method for finding optimal routing in the VANET network. The real-time vehicular traffic system is an integral part of the urban vehicular traffic system, which provides effective traffic signal control for a large multifaceted traffic network and is a highly challenging distributed control problem. Coordinating vehicular traffic enables the network model to deliver an efficient service flow. Consider that there are four lanes of vehicular traffic in this situation, allowing parallel vehicle movements to occur without causing an accident. In this instance, the vehicular system's control parameters are time and vehicle volume. In this work, vehicular traffic flow is examined, and an algorithm to estimate vehicle waiting time in each direction is estimated. The effectiveness of the proposed vehicle traffic signal distribution control system by comparing the experimental results with a real-time vehicular traffic system is verified. Against the background of global warming, permafrost areas are facing increasing thawing, and the threat to the surface of the Qinghai–Tibet Engineering Corridor (QTEC) is serious. It is imperative to understand the current surface deformation and analyze the changes spatiotemporal characteristics for future warnings. At present, observation of a long time series and overall coverage of vertical ground deformation in QTEC are lacking. This paper takes the permafrost deformation of the QTEC as its research object. It uses the pretreated LiCSAR product and combines it with the LiCSBAS package to obtain monitoring results of the long time series deformation of the engineering corridor's surface. The SAR image acquisition date is taken as the constraint, the results covering the whole processing area are selected, and then the vertical deformation information covering the entire engineering corridor area by ignoring the north–south displacement is calculated. The results show that the surface of the study area, as a whole, slightly subsided between May 2017 and March 2022, and the vertical deformation rate was mostly distributed at −27.068 mm/yr − 18.586 mm/yr, with an average of −1.06 mm/yr. Vertical deformation dominated at 52.84 percent of the study area, of which settlement accounted for 27.57 percent and uplift accounted for 25.27 percent. According to the statistics of the normal distribution of deformation velocity per pixel, a total of 77% of the engineering corridor was stable, with a vertical deformation rate between −6.964 mm/yr and −4.844 mm/yr, and 17.7% of the region was sub-stable, with a settling rate of −12.868 mm/yr − –6.964 mm/yr. The unstable regions included areas with settlement rates greater than 12.868 mm/yr and uplift rates greater than 10.748 mm/yr, representing 4.4 percent and 0.9 percent of the total area, respectively, for a total of 5.3 percent. The urban road network is a large and complex system characterized by significant heterogeneity arising from different spatial structures and traffic demands. To facilitate effective management and control, it is necessary to partition the road network into homogeneous sub-areas. In this regard, we aim to propose a hybrid method for partitioning sub-areas with intra-area homogeneity, inter-area heterogeneity, and similar sizes, called CSDRA. It is specifically designed for bidirectional road networks with segment weights that encompass traffic flow, speed, or roadside facility evaluation. Based on community detection and spectral clustering, this proposed method comprises four main modules: initial partition, partitioning of large sub-areas, reassignment of small sub-areas, and boundary adjustment. In the preliminary partitioning work, we also design a road network reconstruction method which further helps to enhance the intra-area homogeneity and inter-area heterogeneity of partitioning results. Furthermore, to align with the requirement for comparable work units in practical traffic management and control, we control the similarity in the size of sub-areas by enforcing upper and lower bound constraints on the size of the sub-areas. We verify the outperformance of the proposed method by an experiment on the partitioning of an urban road network in Guangzhou, China, where we employ sidewalk barrier-free score data as segment weights. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of both the road network reconstruction method and the CSDRA proposed in this paper, as they significantly improve the partitioning outcomes compared with other methods using different evaluation indicators corresponding to the partitioning objectives. Finally, we investigate the influence of constraint parameters on the evaluation indicator. Our findings indicate that appropriately configuring these constraint parameters can effectively minimize sub-region size variations while having minimal impact on other aspects. Cyberattacks in the modern world are sophisticated and can be undetected in a dispersed setting. In a distributed setting, DoS and DDoS attacks cause resource unavailability. This has motivated the scientific community to suggest effective approaches in distributed contexts as a means of mitigating such attacks. Syn Flood is the most common sort of DDoS assault, up from 76% to 81% in Q2, according to Kaspersky's Q3 report. Direct and indirect approaches are also available for launching DDoS attacks. While in a DDoS attack, controlled traffic is transmitted indirectly through zombies to reflectors to compromise the target host, in a direct attack, controlled traffic is sent directly to zombies in order to assault the victim host. Reflectors are uncompromised systems that only send replies in response to a request. To mitigate such assaults, traffic shaping and pushback methods are utilised. The SYN Flood Attack Detection and Mitigation Technique (SFaDMT) is an adaptive heuristic-based method we employ to identify DDoS SYN flood assaults. This study suggested an effective strategy to identify and resist the SYN assault. A decision support mechanism served as the foundation for the suggested (SFaDMT) approach. The transportation control infrastructure serves as the foundation for regional traffic signal control. However, in practice, this infrastructure is often imperfect and complex, characterized by factors such as heterogeneity and uncertainty, which pose significant challenges to existing methods and systems. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel approach to coordinated traffic signal control that emphasizes flexibility. To achieve this flexibility, we combine the flexible model of complex networks with robust fuzzy control methods. This approach enables us to overcome the complexity of the transportation control infrastructure and ensure efficient management of traffic signals. Additionally, to ensure long-term operational ease, we develop a regional traffic signal control system using steam computing technology, which provides high scalability and compatibility. In intelligent traffic control systems, the features extracted by loop detectors are insufficient to accurately impute missing data. Most of the existing imputation methods use only these extracted features, which leads to the construction of data models that cannot fulfill the required accuracy. This deficiency is the main motivation to propose an enrichment imputation method for loop detectors namely EIM-LD, in which the imputation accuracy is increased for different missing patterns and ratios by introducing a data enrichment technique using statistical multi-class labeling. It first enriches the clean data by adding a statistical multi-class label, including C1...Cn classes. Then, the class of samples in the missed-volume data is labeled using the best data model constructed from the labeled clean data by five different classifiers. Experts of the traffic control department in Isfahan city determined classes of the statistical multi-class label for n = 5 (class labels), and we also developed subclass labels (n = 20) since the number of samples in the subclass labels was sufficient. Next, the enriched data are divided into n datasets, each of them is imputed independently using various imputation methods, and their results are finally merged. To evaluate the impact of using the proposed method, the original data, including missing volumes, are first imputed without our enrichment method. Then, the proposed method's accuracy is evaluated by considering two class labels and subclass labels. The experimental and statistical results prove that the proposed EIM-LD method can enrich the real data collected by loop detectors, by which the comparative imputation methods construct a more accurate data model. Ciphertext-Policy Attribute-Based Encryption (CP-ABE) technology provides a new solution to address the security and fine-grained access control of traffic information in vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs). However, in most CP-ABE schemes for VANETs, attribute revocation suffers from high system consumption and complex revocation operations, as well as from high computational overhead and low efficiency due to the use of bilinear pairwise operations. Based on this, this paper proposes a lightweight CP-ABE scheme that supports direct attribute revocation in VANETs. The scheme implements an agent-based direct attribute revocation mechanism by separating dynamic and static attributes of vehicle terminals, which reduces system consumption and simplifies the revocation operation process. The scheme uses scalar multiplication on elliptic curves instead of bilinear pairing operations and uses computational outsourcing techniques to reduce the terminal decryption cost and improve the efficiency of the scheme. The security and performance analysis shows that the overall efficiency of our scheme is better than the existing schemes under the premise of ensuring data confidentiality and integrity. We studied the ability of deep reinforcement learning and self-organizing approaches to adapt to dynamic complex systems, using the applied example of traffic signal control in a simulated urban environment. We highlight the general limitations of deep learning for control in complex systems, even when employing state-of-the-art meta-learning methods, and contrast it with self-organization-based methods. Accordingly, we argue that complex systems are a good and challenging study environment for developing and improving meta-learning approaches. At the same time, we point to the importance of baselines to which meta-learning methods can be compared and present a self-organizing analytic traffic signal control that outperforms state-of-the-art meta-learning in some scenarios. We also show that meta-learning methods outperform classical learning methods in our simulated environment (around 1.5–2× improvement, in most scenarios). Our conclusions are that, in order to develop effective meta-learning methods that are able to adapt to a variety of conditions, it is necessary to test them in demanding, complex settings (such as, for example, urban traffic control) and compare them against established methods. Road infrastructure management is an extremely important task of traffic engineering. For the purpose of efficient management, it is necessary to determine the efficiency of the traffic flow through PAE 85%, AADT and other exploitation parameters on the one hand, and the number of different types of traffic accidents on the other. In this paper, a novel TrIT2F (trapezoidal interval type-2 fuzzy) PIPRECIA (pivot pairwise relative criteria importance assessment)-TrIT2F MARCOS (measurement of alternatives and ranking according to compromise solution) was developed in order to, in a defined set of 14 road segments, identify the most efficient one for data related to light goods vehicles. Through this the aims and contributions of the study can be manifested. The evaluation was carried out on the basis of seven criteria with weights obtained using the TrIT2F PIPRECIA, while the final results were presented through the TrIT2F MARCOS method. To average part of the input data, the Dombi and Bonferroni operators have been applied. The final results of the applied TrIT2F PIPRECIA-TrIT2F MARCOS model show the following ranking of road segments, according to which Vrhovi–Šešlije M-I-103 with a gradient of −1.00 represents the best solution: A5 > A8 > A2 > A1 > A4 > A3 > A6 > A12 > A13 = A14 > A11 > A7 > A9 > A10. In addition, the validation of the obtained results was conducted by changing the values of the four most important criteria and changing the size of the decision matrix. Aerial vehicle detection has significant applications in aerial surveillance and traffic control. The pictures captured by the UAV are characterized by many tiny objects and vehicles obscuring each other, significantly increasing the detection challenge. In the research of detecting vehicles in aerial images, there is a widespread problem of missed and false detections. Therefore, we customize a model based on YOLOv5 to be more suitable for detecting vehicles in aerial images. Firstly, we add one additional prediction head to detect smaller-scale objects. Furthermore, to keep the original features involved in the training process of the model, we introduce a Bidirectional Feature Pyramid Network (BiFPN) to fuse the feature information from various scales. Lastly, Soft-NMS (soft non-maximum suppression) is employed as a prediction frame filtering method, alleviating the missed detection due to the close alignment of vehicles. The experimental findings on the self-made dataset in this research indicate that compared with YOLOv5s, the mAP@0.5 and mAP@0.5:0.95 of YOLOv5-VTO increase by 3.7% and 4.7%, respectively, and the two indexes of accuracy and recall are also improved. In recent years, researchers have proposed smart traffic light control systems to improve traffic flow at intersections, but there is less focus on reducing vehicle and pedestrian delays simultaneously. This research proposes a cyber-physical system for smart traffic light control utilizing traffic detection cameras, machine learning algorithms, and a ladder logic program. The proposed method employs a dynamic traffic interval technique that categorizes traffic into low, medium, high, and very high volumes. It adjusts traffic light intervals based on real-time traffic data, including pedestrian and vehicle information. Machine learning algorithms, including convolutional neural network (CNN), artificial neural network (ANN), and support vector machine (SVM), are demonstrated to predict traffic conditions and traffic light timings. To validate the proposed method, the Simulation of Urban Mobility (SUMO) platform was used to simulate the real-world intersection working. The simulation result indicates the dynamic traffic interval technique is more efficient and showcases a 12% to 27% reduction in the waiting time of vehicles and a 9% to 23% reduction in the waiting time of pedestrians at an intersection when compared to the fixed time and semi-dynamic traffic light control methods. Artificial intelligence is gaining tremendous attractiveness and showing great success in solving various problems, such as simplifying optimal control derivation. This work focuses on the application of Neuroevolution to the control of Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) cohorts operating at uncontrolled intersections. The proposed method implementation's simplicity, thanks to the inclusion of heuristics and effective real-time performance are demonstrated. The resulting architecture achieves nearly ideal operating conditions in keeping the average speeds close to the speed limit. It achieves twice as high mean speed throughput as a controlled intersection, hence enabling lower travel time and mitigating energy inefficiencies from stop-and-go vehicle dynamics. Low deviation from the road speed limit is hence continuously sustained for cohorts of at most 50 m long. This limitation can be mitigated with additional lanes that the cohorts can split into. The concept also allows the testing and implementation of fast-turning lanes by simply replicating and reconnecting the control architecture at each new road crossing, enabling high scalability for complex road network analysis. The controller is also successfully validated within a high-fidelity vehicle dynamic environment, showing its potential for driverless vehicle control in addition to offering a new traffic control simulation model for future autonomous operation studies. Fast-changing demand in real traffic systems always leads to asymmetrical traffic flow and queues, which aggravates congestion and energy waste. In this paper, the traffic signal control problem of multi-phase intersections was studied with fast-changing traffic flows. First, a novel model-free adaptive control-based symmetrical queuing balancing method was designed by using the full-format dynamic linearization (FFDL) technique. Second, in order to deal with the fast-changing traffic flow, a radial basis function neural network (RBFNN) was added to adjust parameters in a two-layer structure. Moreover, a variable cycle tuning algorithm was introduced to further reduce the time loss. Urbanised city transportation simulation needs a wide range of factors to reflect the influence of certain real-life events accurately. The vehicle composition and the timing of the traffic light signal scheduling play an important role in controlling the traffic flow and facilitate road users, particularly in densely populated urban cities. Since road capacity in urban cities changes throughout the day, an optimal traffic light signal duration might be different. Hence, in this paper, the effect of vehicle composition and traffic light phases on traffic flow during peak and off-peak hours in Georgetown, Penang, one of the highly populated cities in Malaysia, is investigated. Through Agent-Based Modelling (ABM), this complex system is simulated by integrating the driver's behaviour into the model using the GIS and Agent-Based Modelling Architecture (GAMA) simulation platform. The result of predicted traffic flow varies significantly depending on the vehicle composition while the duration of the traffic signal timing has little impact on traffic flow during peak hours. However, during off-peak hour, it is suggested that 20 s duration of green light provides the highest flow compared to 30 s and 40 s duration of green light. This concludes that the planning for traffic light phasing should consider multiple factors since the vehicle composition and traffic light timing for an effective traffic flow varies according to the volume of road users. With the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of closure measures in 2020, population mobility and human activities have decreased, which has seriously impacted atmospheric quality. Huaibei City is an important coal and chemical production base in East China, which faces increasing environmental problems. The impact of anthropogenic activities on air quality in this area was investigated by comparing the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 with the normal situation in 2021. Tropospheric NO2, HCHO and SO2 column densities were observed by ground-based multiple axis differential optical absorption spectroscopy (MAX-DOAS). In situ measurements for PM2.5, NO2, SO2 and O3 were also taken. The observation period was divided into four phases, the pre-lockdown period, phase 1 lockdown, phase 2 lockdown and the post-lockdown period. Ground-based MAX-DOAS results showed that tropospheric NO2, HCHO and SO2 column densities increased by 41, 14 and 14%, respectively, during phase 1 in 2021 vs. 2020. In situ results showed that NO2 and SO2 increased by 59 and 11%, respectively, during phase 1 in 2021 vs. 2020, but PM2.5 and O3 decreased by 15 and 17%, respectively. In the phase 2 period, due to the partial lifting of control measures, the concentration of pollutants did not significantly change. The weekly MAX-DOAS results showed that there was no obvious weekend effect of pollutants in the Huaibei area, and NO2, HCHO and SO2 had obvious diurnal variation characteristics. In addition, the relationship between the column densities and wind speed and direction in 2020 and 2021 was studied. The results showed that, in the absence of traffic control in 2021, elevated sources in the Eastern part of the city emitted large amounts of NO2. The observed ratios of HCHO to NO2 suggested that tropospheric ozone production involved NOX-limited scenarios. Optimizing traffic control systems at traffic intersections can reduce the network-wide fuel consumption, as well as emissions of conventional fuel-powered vehicles. While traffic signals have been controlled based on predetermined schedules, various adaptive signal control systems have recently been developed using advanced sensors such as cameras, radars, and LiDARs. Among these sensors, cameras can provide a cost-effective way to determine the number, location, type, and speed of the vehicles for better-informed decision-making at traffic intersections. In this research, a new approach for accurately determining vehicle locations near traffic intersections using a single camera is presented. For that purpose, a well-known object detection algorithm called YOLO is used to determine vehicle locations in video images captured by a traffic camera. YOLO draws a bounding box around each detected vehicle, and the vehicle location in the image coordinates is converted to the world coordinates using camera calibration data. During this process, a significant error between the center of a vehicle's bounding box and the real center of the vehicle in the world coordinates is generated due to the angled view of the vehicles by a camera installed on a traffic light pole. As a means of mitigating this vehicle localization error, two different types of regression models are trained and applied to the centers of the bounding boxes of the camera-detected vehicles. The accuracy of the proposed approach is validated using both static camera images and live-streamed traffic video. Based on the improved vehicle localization, it is expected that more accurate traffic signal control can be made to improve the overall network-wide energy efficiency and traffic flow at traffic intersections. Traffic flow prediction is one of the most important tasks of the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSs) for traffic management, and it is also a challenging task affected by many complex factors, such as weather and time. Many cities adopt efficient traffic prediction methods to control traffic congestion. However, most of the existing methods of traffic prediction focus on urban road scenarios, neglecting the complexity of multivariate auxiliary information in highways. Moreover, these methods have difficulty explaining the prediction results based only on the historical traffic flow sequence. To tackle these problems, we propose a novel traffic prediction model, namely Multi-variate and Multi-horizon prediction based on Long Short-Term Memory (MMLSTM). MMLSTM can effectively incorporate auxiliary information, such as weather and time, based on a strategy of multi-horizon time spans to improve the prediction performance. Specifically, we first exploit a multi-horizon bidirectional LSTM model for fusing the multivariate auxiliary information in different time spans. Then, we combine an attention mechanism and multi-layer perceptron to conduct the traffic prediction. Furthermore, we can use the information of multivariate (weather and time) to provide interpretability to manage the model. The connected and autonomous vehicle (CAV) is promised to ease congestion in the future with the rapid development of related technologies in recent years. To explore the characteristics of mixed-traffic flow and the dynamic transmission mechanism, this paper firstly detailed the car-following model of different vehicle types, establishing the fundamental diagram of the mixed-traffic flow through considering the different penetration rates and fleet size of CAV. Secondly, this paper constructed the lane-changing judgment mechanism based on the random utility theory. Finally, the paper proposed a lane-level dynamic cell transmission process, combined with a lane-changing strategy and cell transmission model. The effectiveness and feasibility of the model are verified using simulation analysis. As technology continues to develop, computer vision (CV) applications are becoming increasingly widespread in the intelligent transportation systems (ITS) context. These applications are developed to improve the efficiency of transportation systems, increase their level of intelligence, and enhance traffic safety. Advances in CV play an important role in solving problems in the fields of traffic monitoring and control, incident detection and management, road usage pricing, and road condition monitoring, among many others, by providing more effective methods. This survey examines CV applications in the literature, the machine learning and deep learning methods used in ITS applications, the applicability of computer vision applications in ITS contexts, the advantages these technologies offer and the difficulties they present, and future research areas and trends, with the goal of increasing the effectiveness, efficiency, and safety level of ITS. Vehicle detection in aerial images plays a significant role in many remote sensing applications such as city planning, road construction, and traffic control. However, detecting vehicles in aerial images remains challenging due to the existence of tiny objects, the scale variance within the same type of vehicle objects, and dense arrangement in some scenarios, such as parking lots. At present, many state-of-the-art object detectors cannot generate satisfactory results on vehicle detection in aerial images. The receptive field of the current detector is not fine enough to handle the slight scale variance. Moreover, the densely arranged vehicles will introduce ambiguous positive samples in label assignment and false predictions that cannot be deleted by NMS. To this end, we propose a two-stage framework for vehicle detection that better leverages the prior attribution knowledge of vehicles in aerial images. First of all, we design a Parallel RPN that exploits convolutional layers of different receptive fields to alleviate the scale variation problem. To tackle the densely arranged vehicles, we introduce a density-based sample assigner in the vehicle-intensive areas to reduce low-quality and occluded positive samples in the training process. In addition, a scale-based NMS is proposed to filter out redundant proposals hierarchically from different levels of the feature pyramid. Moreover, we construct two challenging vehicle detection datasets based on the AI-TOD and xView datasets which contain many tiny objects. Cooperative control of vehicle trajectories and traffic signal phases is a promising approach to improving the efficiency and safety of transportation systems. This type of traffic flow control refers to the coordination and optimization of vehicle trajectories and traffic signal phases to reduce congestion, travel time, and fuel consumption. In this paper, we propose a cooperative control method that combines a model predictive control algorithm for adaptive traffic signal control and a trajectory construction algorithm. For traffic signal phase selection, the proposed modification of the adaptive traffic signal control algorithm combines the travel time obtained using either the vehicle trajectory or a deep neural network model and stop delays. The vehicle trajectory construction algorithm takes into account the predicted traffic signal phase to achieve cooperative control. To evaluate the method performance, numerical experiments have been conducted for three real-world scenarios in the SUMO simulation package. The experimental results show that the proposed cooperative control method can reduce the average fuel consumption by 1% to 4.2%, the average travel time by 1% to 5.3%, and the average stop delays to 27% for different simulation scenarios compared to the baseline methods. The purpose of smart surveillance systems for automatic detection of road traffic accidents is to quickly respond to minimize human and financial losses in smart cities. However, along with the self-evident benefits of surveillance applications, privacy protection remains crucial under any circumstances. Hence, to ensure the privacy of sensitive data, European General Data Protection Regulation (EU-GDPR) has come into force. EU-GDPR suggests data minimisation and data protection by design for data collection and storage. Therefore, for a privacy-aware surveillance system, this paper targets the identification of two areas of concern: (1) detection of road traffic events (accidents), and (2) privacy preserved video summarization for the detected events in the surveillance videos. The focus of this research is to categorise the traffic events for summarization of the video content, therefore, a state-of-the-art object detection algorithm, i.e., You Only Look Once (YOLOv5), has been employed. YOLOv5 is trained using a customised synthetic dataset of 600 annotated accident and non-accident video frames. Privacy preservation is achieved in two steps, firstly, a synthetic dataset is used for training and validation purposes, while, testing is performed on real-time data with an accuracy from 55% to 85%. Secondly, the real-time summarized videos (reduced video duration to 42.97% on average) are extracted and stored in an encrypted format to avoid un-trusted access to sensitive event-based data. Fernet, a symmetric encryption algorithm is applied to the summarized videos along with Diffie–Hellman (DH) key exchange algorithm and SHA256 hash algorithm. The encryption key is deleted immediately after the encryption process, and the decryption key is generated at the system of authorised stakeholders, which prevents the key from a man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack. Recent studies have shown the efficacy of mobile elements in optimizing the energy consumption of sensor nodes. Current data collection approaches for waste management applications focus on exploiting IoT-enabled technologies. However, these techniques are no longer sustainable in the context of smart city (SC) waste management applications due to the emergence of large-scale wireless sensor networks (LS-WSNs) in smart cities with sensor-based big data architectures. This paper proposes an energy-efficient swarm intelligence (SI) Internet of Vehicles (IoV)-based technique for opportunistic data collection and traffic engineering for SC waste management strategies. This is a novel IoV-based architecture exploiting the potential of vehicular networks for SC waste management strategies. The proposed technique involves deploying multiple data collector vehicles (DCVs) traversing the entire network for data gathering via a single-hop transmission. However, employing multiple DCVs comes with additional challenges including costs and network complexity. Thus, this paper proposes analytical-based methods to investigate critical tradeoffs in optimizing energy consumption for big data collection and transmission in an LS-WSN such as (1) finding the optimal number of data collector vehicles (DCVs) required in the network and (2) determining the optimal number of data collection points (DCPs) for the DCVs. These critical issues affect efficient SC waste management and have been overlooked by previous studies exploring waste management strategies. This research is a pilot study to develop a maritime traffic control system that supports the decision-making process of control officers, and to evaluate the usability of a prototype tool developed in this study. The study analyzed the movements of multiple vessels through automatic identification system (AIS) data using one of the existing methodologies in GIScience, the RElative MOtion (REMO) approach. The REMO approach in this study measured the relative speed, delta-speed, and the azimuth of each vessel per time unit. The study visualized the results on electronic navigational charts in the prototype tool developed, V-REMO. In addition, the study conducted a user evaluation to assess the user interface (UI) of V-REMO and to future enhance the usability. The general usability of V-REMO, the data visualization, and the readability of information in the UI were tested through in-depth interviews. The results of the user evaluation showed that the users needed changes in the size, position, colors, and transparency of the trajectory symbols in the digital chartmap view of V-REMO for better readability and easier manipulation. The users also indicated a need for multiple color schemes for the spatial data and more landmark information about the study area in the chartmap view. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Transportation networks are used in many application areas, like traffic control or river monitoring. For this purpose, sensors are placed in strategic points in the network and they send their data to a central location for storage, viewing and analysis. Recent work proposed graph databases to represent transportation networks, since these networks can change over time, a temporal graph data model is required to keep track of these changes. In this model, time-series data are represented as properties of nodes in the network, and nodes and edges are timestamped with their validity intervals. In this paper, we show that transportation networks can be represented and queried using temporal graph databases and temporal graph query languages. Many interesting situations can be captured by the temporal paths supported by this model. To achieve the above, we extend a recently introduced temporal graph data model and its high-level query language T-GQL to support time series in the nodes of the graph, redefine temporal paths and study and implement new kinds of paths, namely Flow paths and Backwards Flow paths. Further, we analyze a real-world case, using a portion of the Yser river in the Flanders' river system in Belgium, where some nodes are equipped with sensors while other ones are not. We model this river as a temporal graph, implement it using real data provided by the sensors, and discover interesting temporal paths based on the electric conductivity parameter, that can be used in a decision support environment, by experts for analyzing water quality across time. In intelligent transportation, various types of sensors are used both in traffic control systems as well as in the control, safety, and entertainment systems of the vehicles themselves. In the process of educating future designers and developers of such systems, it is necessary to familiarize them with the operation and parameters of sensors. The recent years of the COVID-19 pandemic have disturbed this process due to the need to conduct classes remotely. This article presents the general concept of a laboratory stand for testing sensors of electrical and non-electrical quantities, which can be used both in stationary and remote learning. Additionally, the practical implementation of two laboratory stands for testing current and linear displacement sensors was also presented. Both stands have been tested in the remote access mode. Train delays are inconvenient for passengers and major problems in railway operations. When delays occur, it is vital to provide timely information to passengers regarding delays at their departing, interchanging, and final stations. Furthermore, real-time traffic control requires information on how delays propagate throughout the network. Among a multitude of applied models to predict train delays, Markov chains have proven to be stochastic benchmark approaches due to their simplicity, interpretability, and solid performances. In this study, we introduce an advanced Markov chain setting to predict train delays using historical train operation data. Therefore, we applied Markov chains based on process time deviations instead of absolute delays and we relaxed commonly used stationarity assumptions for transition probabilities in terms of direction, train line, and location. Additionally, we defined the state space elastically and analyzed the benefit of an increasing state space dimension. We show (via a test case in the Swiss railway network) that our proposed advanced Markov chain model achieves a prediction accuracy gain of 56% in terms of mean absolute error (MAE) compared to state-of-the-art Markov chain models based on absolute delays. Intersections are at the core of congestion in urban areas. After the end of the Second World War, the problem of intersection management has benefited from a growing body of advances to address the optimization of the traffic lights' phase splits, timing, and offset. These contributions have significantly improved traffic safety and efficiency in urban areas. However, with the growth of transportation demand and motorization, traffic lights show their limits. At the end of the 1990s, the perspective of autonomous and connected driving systems motivated researchers to introduce a paradigm shift for controlling intersections. This new paradigm is well known today as autonomous intersection management (AIM). It harnesses the self-organization ability of future vehicles to provide more accurate control approaches that use the smallest available time window to reach unprecedented traffic performances. This is achieved by optimizing two main points of the interaction of connected and autonomous vehicles at intersections: the motion control of vehicles and the schedule of their accesses. Considering the great potential of AIM and the complexity of the problem, the proposed approaches are very different, starting from various assumptions. With the increasing popularity of AIM, this paper provides readers with a comprehensive vision of noticeable advances toward enhancing traffic efficiency. It shows that it is possible to tailor vehicles' speed and schedule according to the traffic demand by using distributed particle swarm optimization. Moreover, it brings the most relevant contributions in the light of traffic engineering, where flow–speed diagrams are used to measure the impact of the proposed optimizations. The rapid growth of industry and the economy has contributed to a tremendous increase in traffic in all urban areas. People face the problem of traffic congestion frequently in their day-to-day life. To alleviate congestion and provide traffic guidance and control, several types of research have been carried out in the past to develop suitable computational models for short- and long-term traffic. This study developed an effective multi-dimensional dataset-based model in cyber–physical systems for more accurate traffic-volume prediction. The integration of quantum convolutional neural network and Bayesian optimization (QCNN_BaOpt) constituted the proposed model in this study. Furthermore, optimal tuning of hyperparameters was carried out using Bayesian optimization. The constructed model was evaluated using the US accident dataset records available in Kaggle, which comprise 1.5 million records. The dataset consists of 47 attributes describing spatial and temporal behavior, accidents, and weather characteristics. The efficiency of the proposed model was evaluated by calculating various metrics. The performance of the proposed model was assessed as having an accuracy of 99.3%.
