Asset management is a process that deals with numerous types of data, including spatial and temporal data. Such an occurrence is attributed to the proliferation of information sources. However, the lack of a comprehensive asset data model that encompasses the management of both spatial and temporal data remains a challenge. Therefore, this paper proposes a graph-based spatio-temporal data model to integrate spatial and temporal information into asset management. In the spatial layer, we provide a graph-based method that uses topological containment and connectivity relationships to model the interior building space using data from 3D city models. In the temporal layer, we proposed the Aggregated Directly-Follows Multigraph (ADFM), a novel process model based on a directly-follows graph (DFG), to show the chronological flow of events in asset management by taking into consideration the repetitive nature of events in asset management. The integration of both layers allows spatial, temporal, and spatio-temporal queries to be made regarding information about events in asset management. This method offers a more straightforward query, which helps to eliminate duplicate and false query results when assessed and compared with a flattened graph event log. Finally, this paper provides information for the management of 3D spaces using a NoSQL graph database and the management of events and their temporal information through graph modelling. In solar forecasting, it is common practice for solar data (be it irradiance or photovoltaic power) to be converted into a stationary index (e.g., clear-sky or clearness index) before being used as inputs for solar-forecasting models. However, its actual impact is rarely quantified. Thus, this paper aims to study the impact of including this processing step in the modeling workflow within the scope of very-short-term spatio-temporal forecasting. Several forecasting models are considered, and the observed impact is shown to be model-dependent. Persistence does not benefit from this for such short timescales; however, the statistical models achieve an additional 0.5 to 2.5 percentual points (PPs) in terms of the forecasting skill. Machine-learning (ML) models achieve 0.9 to 1.9 more PPs compared to a linear regression, indicating that stationarization reveals non-linear patterns in the data. The exception is Random Forest, which underperforms in comparison with the other models. Lastly, the inclusion of solar elevation and azimuth angles as inputs is tested since these are easy to compute and can inform the model on time-dependent patterns. Only the cases where the input is not made stationary, or the underperforming Random Forest model, seem to benefit from this. This indicates that the apparent Sun position data can compensate for the lack of stationarization in the solar inputs and can help the models to differentiate the daily and seasonal variability from the shorter-term, weather-driven variability. Background: Globally, prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among males. It is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia. The quality of life of prostate cancer patients is poorer when compared to the general population due to the disease itself and its related complications. However, there is limited research on the geographic pattern of quality of life and its risk factors in Victoria. Therefore, an examination of the spatio-temporal pattern and risk factors of poor quality of life, along with the impact of spatial weight matrices on estimates and model performance, was conducted. Method: A retrospective study was undertaken based on the Prostate Cancer Outcome Registry—Victoria data. Patient data (n = 5238) were extracted from the Prostate Cancer Outcome Registry, a population-based clinical quality outcome assessment from 2015 to 2021. A Bayesian spatio-temporal multilevel model was fitted to identify risk factors for poor quality of life. This study also evaluated the impact of distance- and adjacency-based spatial weight matrices. Model convergence was assessed using Gelman–Rubin statistical plots, and model comparison was based on the Watanabe–Akaike Information Criterion. Results: A total of 1906 (36.38%) prostate cancer patients who had undergone surgery experienced poor quality of life in our study. Belonging to the age group between 76 and 85 years (adjusted odds ratio (AOR) = 2.90, 95% credible interval (CrI): 1.39, 2.08), having a prostate-specific antigen level between 10.1 and 20.0 (AOR = 1.33, 95% CrI: 1.12, 1.58), and being treated in a public hospital (AOR = 1.35, 95% CrI: 1.17, 1.53) were significantly associated with higher odds of poor quality of life. Conversely, residing in highly accessible areas (AOR = 0.60, 95% CrI: 0.38, 0.94) was significantly associated with lower odds of poor prostate-specific antigen levels. Variations in estimates and model performance were observed depending on the choice of spatial weight matrices. Conclusion: Belonging to an older age group, having a high prostate-specific antigen level, receiving treatment in public hospitals, and remoteness were statistically significant factors linked to poor quality of life. Substantial spatio-temporal variations in poor quality of life were observed in Victoria across local government areas. The distance-based weight matrix performed better than the adjacency-based matrix. This research finding highlights the need to reduce geographical disparities in quality of life. In this study, the distribution patterns of southern horse mackerel are examined using commercial fine-scale resolution data. Using landings by size category and VMS data from the Portuguese commercial bottom-trawl fishery, which consistently targets horse mackerel, this study provides a comprehensive analysis of horse mackerel age distributions spanning a decade (2010–2020). Importantly, this study addresses potential biases in commercial effort data and establishes the usefulness of commercial bottom-trawl gear as a suitable method for sampling and evaluating southern horse mackerel stock dynamics. Ordered regression models were applied to allow for the modelling of the distribution of multiple age categories and investigate spatio-temporal migrations off the Portuguese coast. Southern horse mackerel show a widespread age distribution range and stable abundance with indications of seasonal and spatial patterns in the distribution of specific age groups. The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment is a general-purpose detector for high-energy collision at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. It employs an online data quality monitoring (DQM) system to promptly spot and diagnose particle data acquisition problems to avoid data quality loss. In this study, we present a semi-supervised spatio-temporal anomaly detection (AD) monitoring system for the physics particle reading channels of the Hadron Calorimeter (HCAL) of the CMS using three-dimensional digi-occupancy map data of the DQM. We propose the GraphSTAD system, which employs convolutional and graph neural networks to learn local spatial characteristics induced by particles traversing the detector and the global behavior owing to shared backend circuit connections and housing boxes of the channels, respectively. Recurrent neural networks capture the temporal evolution of the extracted spatial features. We validate the accuracy of the proposed AD system in capturing diverse channel fault types using the LHC collision data sets. The GraphSTAD system achieves production-level accuracy and is being integrated into the CMS core production system for real-time monitoring of the HCAL. Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) is associated with adverse impacts on ambient air quality and human mortality; the situation is especially dire in developing countries experiencing rapid industrialization and urban development. This study assessed the spatio-temporal variations of PM2.5 and its health impacts in the South Asian region. Both satellite and station-based data were used to monitor the variations in PM2.5 over time. Additionally, mortality data associated with ambient particulate matter were used to depict the overall impacts of air pollution in this region. We applied the Mann–Kendall and Sen's slope trend analysis tool to investigate the trend of PM2.5. At the same time, clustering of backward trajectories was used for identifying the long-range air mass transport. The results revealed that the mean annual PM2.5 mass concentration was the highest (46.72 µg/m3) in Bangladesh among the South Asian countries during 1998–2019, exceeding the national ambient air quality standards of Bangladesh (i.e., 15 µg/m3) and WHO (10 µg/m3), while lower PM2.5 was observed in the Maldives and Sri Lanka (5.35 µg/m3 and 8.69 µg/m3, respectively) compared with the WHO standard. The trend analysis during 1998–2019 suggested that all South Asian countries except the Maldives experienced an increasing trend (p < 0.05) of PM2.5. The study showed that among the major cities, the mean annual PM2.5 value was the highest in New Delhi (110 µg/m3), followed by Dhaka (85 µg/m3). Regarding seasonal variation, the highest PM2.5 was found during the pre-monsoon season in all cities. The findings of this research would help the concerned governments of South Asian countries to take steps toward improving air quality through policy interventions or reforms. Sensing urban vitality is a useful method for understanding urban development. However, the spatio-temporal characteristics of the association between the built environment and urban vitality in Shenzhen, the youngest mega-city in China, have not yet been explored. In this paper, we examined the effects of built environment indicators on urban vitality by using spatial regression models and multi-source geospatial data. The main research findings were as follows. Firstly, urban vitality displayed a consistent high–low pattern during both weekdays and weekends. Differences in the distribution of urban vitality with time between weekdays and weekends were more significant. Secondly, the effects of various built environment indicators on urban vitality exhibited significant temporal disparities. Within a day, population density, building density, bus station density, and distance to metro stations all exhibited positive effects, while distance to the central business district (CBD) exhibited negative effects, with pronounced diurnal differences. Moreover, the effects of road network density and functional mix on urban vitality were both positive and negative throughout the day. Thirdly, besides population density and building density, road network density, functional mix, bus stop density, and distance from metro stations exhibited positive and negative disparities within the study area. Overall, distance to the CBD had a negative effect on urban vitality. Climate change, vegetation dynamics, human activities and forest management influence the occurrence of fires. This study investigated the spatio-temporal variability of the Vegetation Condition Index (VCI) and its influence on fire occurrence in three different land use types in Mount Kenya Forest Reserve and National Park (MKFRNP): National Park (NP), Forest Stations (FS) and Farmlands (FL). The study used MODIS satellite data to obtain the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), the VCI, the number of fires and the burnt area. The specific objectives of this research were (i) to examine the spatio-temporal variability of VCI, fire occurrence and burnt area in MKFRNP from 2003 to 2018 and (ii) to explore the relationship between VCI, fire occurrence and burnt area in different areas of the MKFRNP (NP, FS and FL). The findings show that even though fires occur throughout the year in MKFRNP, most of the fires occur during dry seasons. The relationship between spatio-temporal fire occurrence and VCI distribution is different for each land use type. In the FL, the probability of fire ignition and the number of fires per month was more or less the same irrespective of the VCI because of the traditional use of fire as a land management tool. However, the probability of fire ignition and the number of fires per month is high in the NP and FS when the VCI is below 50% (drought), especially in the dry seasons, when and where the impact of meteorological conditions and climate have much more impact than human activities. In addition to the efforts already made by communities, KFS and KWS in the fire fighting and monitoring system, satellite data can be useful to acquire accurate and timely information on the VCI and the likely spatio-temporal occurrence of fires in order to be prepared in the most fire-prone periods and improve fire management, the planning of resources and fire suppression activities in MKFRNP. Sea surface temperature (SST) prediction has attracted increasing attention, due to its crucial role in understanding the Earth's climate and ocean system. Existing SST prediction methods are typically based on either physics-based numerical methods or data-driven methods. Physics-based numerical methods rely on marine physics equations and have stable and explicable outputs, while data-driven methods are flexible in adapting to data and are capable of detecting unexpected patterns. We believe that these two types of method are complementary to each other, and their combination can potentially achieve better performances. In this paper, a space-time partial differential equation (PDE) is employed to form a novel physics-based deep learning framework, named the space-time PDE-guided neural network (STPDE-Net), to predict daily SST. Comprehensive experiments for SST prediction were conducted, and the results proved that our method could outperform the traditional finite-difference forecast method and several state-of-the-art deep learning and physics-guided deep learning methods. Crime is always one of the most important social problems, and it poses a great threat to public security and people. Accurate crime prediction can help the government, police, and citizens to carry out effective crime prevention measures. In this paper, the research on crime prediction is systematically reviewed from a variety of temporal and spatial perspectives. We describe the current state of crime prediction research from four perspectives (prediction content, crime types, methods, and evaluation) and focus on the prediction methods. According to various temporal and spatial scales, temporal crime prediction is divided into short-term prediction, medium-term prediction, and long-term prediction, and spatial crime prediction is divided into micro-, meso-, and macro-level prediction. Spatio-temporal crime prediction classification can be a permutation of temporal and spatial crime prediction classifications. A variety of crime prediction methods and evaluation metrics are also summarized, and different prediction methods and models are compared and evaluated. After sorting out the literature, it was found that there are still many limitations in the current research: (i) data sparsity is difficult to deal with effectively; (ii) the practicality, interpretability, and transparency of predictive models are insufficient; (iii) the evaluation system is relatively simple; and (iv) the research on decision-making application is lacking. In this regard, the following suggestions are proposed to solve the above problems: (i) the use of transformer learning technology to deal with sparse data; (ii) the introduction of model interpretation methods, such as Shapley additive explanations (SHAPs), to improve the interpretability of the models; (iii) the establishment of a set of standard evaluation systems for crime prediction at different scales to standardize data use and evaluation metrics; and (iv) the integration of reinforcement learning to achieve more accurate prediction while promoting the transformation of the application results. The particle system is widely used in vector field feature visualization due to its dynamics and simulation. However, there are some defects of the vector field visualization method based on the Euler fields, such as unclear feature expression and discontinuous temporal expression, so the method cannot effectively express the characteristics of wind field on the temporal scale. We propose a Lagrangian visualization method based on spatio-temporal interpolation to solve these problems, which realizes the fusion and expression of the particle system and the time-varying wind data based on the WebGL shader. Firstly, the linear interpolation algorithm is used to interpolate to obtain continuous and dense wind field data according to the wind field data at adjacent moments. Then, we introduce the Lagrangian analysis method to study the structure of the wind field and optimize the visualization effect of the particle system based on Runge–Kutta algorithms. Finally, we adopt the nonlinear color mapping method with double standard deviation (2SD) to improve the expression effect of wind field features. The experimental results indicate that the wind visualization achieves a comprehensive visual effect and the rendering frame rate is greater than 45. The methods can render the particles smoothly with stable and outstanding uniformity when expressing continuous spatio-temporal dynamic visualization characteristics of the wind field. Due to the growing penetration of behind-the-meter (BTM) photovoltaic (PV) installations, accurate solar energy forecasts are required for a reliable economic energy system operation. A new hybrid methodology is proposed in this paper with a sequence of one-step ahead models to accumulate 144 h for a small-scale BTM PV site. Three groups of models with different inputs are developed to cover 6 days of forecasting horizon, with each group trained for each hour of the above zero irradiance. In addition, a novel dataset preselection is proposed, and neighboring solar farms' power predictions are used as a feature to boost the accuracy of the model. Two techniques are selected: XGBoost and CatBoost. An extensive assessment for 1 year is conducted to evaluate the proposed method. Numerical results highlight that training the models with the previous, current, and 1 month ahead from the previous year referenced by the target month can improve the model's accuracy. Finally, when solar energy predictions from neighboring solar farms are incorporated, this further increases the overall forecast accuracy. The spatio-temporal course of an epidemic (such as COVID-19) can be significantly affected by non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) such as full or partial lockdowns. Bayesian Susceptible-Infected-Removed (SIR) models can be applied to the spatio-temporal spread of infectious diseases (STIFs) (such as COVID-19). In causal inference, it is classically of interest to investigate the counterfactuals. In the context of STIF, it is possible to use nowcasting to assess the possible counterfactual realization of disease in an incidence that would have been evidenced with no NPI. Classic lagged dependency spatio-temporal IF models are discussed, and the importance of the ST component in nowcasting is assessed. Real examples of lockdowns for COVID-19 in two US states during 2020 and 2021 are provided. The degeneracy in prediction over longer time periods is highlighted, and the wide confidence intervals characterize the forecasts. For SC, the early and short lockdown contrasted with the longer NJ intervention. Location-based social networks (LBSN) allow users to socialize with friends by sharing their daily life experiences online. In particular, a large amount of check-ins data generated by LBSNs capture the visit locations of users and open a new line of research of spatio-temporal big data, i.e., the next point-of-interest (POI) recommendation. At present, while some advanced methods have been proposed for POI recommendation, existing work only leverages the temporal information of two consecutive LBSN check-ins. Specifically, these methods only focus on adjacent visit sequences but ignore non-contiguous visits, while these visits can be important in understanding the spatio-temporal correlation within the trajectory. In order to fully mine this non-contiguous visit information, we propose a multi-layer Spatio-Temporal deep learning attention model for POI recommendation, Spatio-Temporal Transformer Recommender (STTF-Recommender). To incorporate the spatio-temporal patterns, we encode the information in the user's trajectory as latent representations into their embeddings before feeding them. To mine the spatio-temporal relationship between any two visited locations, we utilize the Transformer aggregation layer. To match the most plausible candidates from all locations, we develop on an attention matcher based on the attention mechanism. The STTF-Recommender was evaluated with two real-world datasets, and the findings showed that STTF improves at least 13.75% in the mean value of the Recall index at different scales compared with the state-of-the-art models. Understanding the contents and stoichiometry of carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P) is vital to evaluate the function and processes of a forest ecosystem. Overall, 18 sites in Shennongjia Forest from an altitude from 800 to 3000 m were selected to collect litterfall, humus, and soil (0–20 and 20–40 cm) samples in May, August, and December. The spatio-temporal distribution of C, N, and P contents and their stoichiometry were quantified, and the underlying driving factors were analyzed. Results revealed total organic carbon (TOC) and total nitrogen (TN) contents decreased from the topsoil to the deeper soil, while total phosphorus (TP) contents in the soil changed slightly with depth. Controlled by various sources and decomposition degrees, the ratios of C:P, C:N, and N:P decreased from litterfall to humus, further increased in topsoil, and decreased again in deeper soil. Considering the average values of all sites, only TN in litterfall and humus dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in soil, and C:N in litterfall exhibited a significant seasonal variation. With increasing altitude, the contents of TOC, TN, and TP significantly increased in soil, particularly in August, but fluctuated in litterfall and humus. This positive relationship in soil was remarkable for TOC and TN compared with TP. Pearson's correlation and redundancy analysis indicated driving factors exhibited a more noticeable influence on the contents of TOC, TN, and TP in soil than those in litterfall and humus. Moisture content, vegetation pattern, bulk density, total Mn (tMn), total Fe (tFe), and clay content observably influenced the contents of TOC, TN, and TP in the soil, and thus affected its stoichiometry. This investigation provided a comparable dataset on the contents of C, N, and P and their patterns of stoichiometry, which are helpful to optimize forest management and ecosystems. Land use/land cover change (LULCC) is an important driver of ecosystem changes in coastal areas. Despite being pervasive in coastal Ghana, LULCC has not been investigated to understand its effects on the potential for coastal landscapes to supply ecosystem services (ES). In this study, the impacts of LULCC on the potential supply of ES by coastal landscapes in Southwestern Ghana was assessed for the years 2008 and 2018 by using remote sensing and benefit transfer approaches. Based on available data, relevant provisioning and regulating ES were selected for the assessment while indicators to aid the quantification of the ES were obtained from literature. Supervised classification methods and maximum likelihood algorithms were used to prepare land use/land cover (LULC) maps and the derived LULC categories were assigned according to the descriptions of the Land Cover Classification System (LCCS). Potential supply of provisioning (food, fuelwood) and regulating (carbon storage) services was quantified and the spatial and temporal distributions of these ES illustrated using maps. The results show variations in food and fuelwood supply and carbon storage potentials over the study period and across different locations on the landscape. Potentials for fuelwood supply and carbon storage in mangrove forests indicated declining trends between 2008 and 2018. On the other hand, food-crop supply and carbon storage potential in rubber plantations depicted increasing patterns over the same period. Population, slope and elevation exhibited strong effects on LULC conversions to food crop and rubber plantations whereas these factors were less important determinants of mangrove forest conversions. The findings of the study have implications for identifying and addressing tradeoffs between land uses for agriculture, industrial development and conservation of critical coastal ES within the context of rapid land system transformations in the study region. Realizing the dynamic redundancy of sensors is of great significance to ensure the energy saving and normal operation of the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system. Building a virtual sensor model is an effective method of redundancy and fault tolerance for hardware sensors. In this paper, a virtual sensor modeling method combining the maximum information coefficient (MIC) and the spatial–temporal attention long short-term memory (STA-LSTM) is proposed, which is named MIC-STALSTM, to achieve the dynamic and nonlinear modeling of the supply and return water temperature at both ends of the chiller. First, MIC can extract the influencing factors highly related to the target variables. Then, the extracted impact factors via MIC are used as the input variables of the STA-LSTM algorithm in order to construct an accurate virtual sensor model. The STA-LSTM algorithm not only makes full use of the LSTM algorithm's advantages in handling historical data series information, but also achieves adaptive estimation of different input variable feature weights and different hidden layer temporal correlations through the attention mechanism. In recent years, the availability of multi-temporal global land-cover datasets has meant that they have become a key data source for evaluating land cover in many applications. Due to the high data volume of the multi-temporal land-cover datasets, probability sampling is an efficient method for validating multi-temporal global urban land-cover maps. However, the current accuracy assessment methods often work for a single-epoch dataset, and they are not suitable for multi-temporal data products. Limitations such as repeated sampling and inappropriate sample allocation can lead to inaccurate evaluation results. In this study, we propose the use of spatio-temporal stratified sampling to assess thematic mappings with respect to the temporal changes and spatial clustering. The total number of samples in the two stages, i.e., map and pixel, was obtained by using a probability sampling model. Since the proportion of the area labeled as no change is large while that of the area labeled as change is small, an optimization algorithm for determining the sample sizes of the different strata is proposed by minimizing the sum of variance of the user's accuracy, producer's accuracy, and proportion of area for all strata. The experimental results show that the allocation of sample size by the proposed method results in the smallest bias in the estimated accuracy, compared with the conventional sample allocation, i.e., equal allocation and proportional allocation. The proposed method was applied to multi-temporal global urban land-cover maps from 2000 to 2010, with a time interval of 5 years. Due to the spatial aggregation characteristics, the local pivotal method (LPM) is adopted to realize spatially balanced sampling, leading to more representative samples for each stratum in the spatial domain. The main contribution of our research is the proposed spatio-temporal sampling approach and the accuracy assessment conducted for the multi-temporal global urban land-cover product. Human fault detection plays an important role in the industrial assembly process. In the current unstructured industrial workspace, the definition of human faults may vary over a long sequence, and this vagueness introduces multiple issues when using traditional detection methods. A method which could learn the correct action sequence from humans, as well as detect the fault actions based on prior knowledge, would be more appropriate and effective. To this end, we propose an end-to-end learning model to predict future human actions and extend it to detect human faults. We combined the auto-encoder framework and recurrent neural network (RNN) method to predict and generate intuitive future human motions. The convolutional long short-term memory (ConvLSTM) layer was applied to extract spatio-temporal features from video sequences. A score function was implemented to indicate the difference between the correct human action sequence and the fault actions. The proposed model was evaluated on a model vehicle seat assembly task. The experimental results showed that the model could effectively capture the necessary historical details to predict future human actions. The results of several fault scenarios demonstrated that the model could detect the faults in human actions based on corresponding future behaviors through prediction features. Public behavior in cyberspace is extremely sensitive to emergency disaster events. Using appropriate methodologies to capture the semantic evolution of social media users' behaviors and discover how it varies across geographic space and time still presents a significant challenge. This study proposes a novel framework based on complex network, topic model, and GIS to describe the topic change of social media users' behaviors during disaster events. The framework employs topic modeling to extract topics from social media texts, builds a user semantic evolution model based on a complex network to describe topic dynamics, and analyzes the spatio-temporal characteristics of public semantics evolution. The proposed framework has demonstrated its effectiveness in analyzing the semantic spatial–temporal evolution of Chinese Weibo user behavior during COVID-19. The semantic change in response to COVID-19 was characterized by obvious expansion, frequent change, and gradual stabilization over time. In this case, there were obvious geographical differences in users' semantic changes, which were mainly concentrated in the capital and economically developed areas. To better forecast solar variability, spatio-temporal methods exploit spatially distributed solar time series, seeking to improve forecasting accuracy by including neighboring solar information. This review work is, to the authors' understanding, the first to offer a compendium of references published since 2011 on such approaches for global horizontal irradiance and photovoltaic generation. The identified bibliography was categorized according to different parameters (method, data sources, baselines, performance metrics, forecasting horizon), and associated statistics were explored. With the abundance of public transportation in highly urbanized areas, it is common for passengers to make inefficient or flawed transport decisions due to a lack of information. The exact arrival time of a bus is an example of such information that can aid passengers in making better decisions. The purpose of this study is to provide a method for predicting path-based bus travel time, thereby assisting accurate bus arrival and departure time predictions at each bus stop. Specifically, we develop a Geo-conv Long Short-term Memory (LSTM) model that (1) extracts subsequent spatial features through a 1D Convolution Neural Network (CNN) for the entire bus travel sequence and (2) captures the temporal dependencies between subsequences through the LSTM network. Additionally, this study utilizes additional variables that affect two components of bus travel time (dwelling time and transit time) to precisely predict travel time. The constructed model is then evaluated by the practical application to two bus lines operating in Seoul, Korea. The results show that our model outperforms three other baseline models. Two bus lines with different types of operation show different model performance patterns that are dependent on travel distance. Interestingly, we find that the variable related to the link of the stop location appears to play an important role in predicting bus travel time. Vehicle re-identification (Re-ID) research has intensified as numerous advancements have been made along with the rapid development of person Re-ID. In this paper, we tackle the vehicle Re-ID problem in open scenarios. This research differs from the early-stage studies that focused on a certain view, and it faces more challenges due to view variations, illumination changes, occlusions, etc. Inspired by the research of person Re-ID, we propose leveraging pose view to enhance the discrimination performance of visual features and utilizing keypoints to improve the accuracy of pose recognition. However, the visual appearance information is still limited by the changing surroundings and extremely similar appearances of vehicles. To the best of our knowledge, few methods have been aware of the spatio-temporal information to supplement visual appearance information, but they neglect the influence of the driving direction. Considering the peculiar characteristic of vehicle movements, we observe that vehicles' poses on camera views indicating their directions are closely related to spatio-temporal cues. Consequently, we design a two-branch framework for vehicle Re-ID, including a Keypoint-based Pose Embedding Visual (KPEV) model and a Keypoint-based Pose-Guided Spatio-Temporal (KPGST) model. These models are integrated into the framework, and the results of KPEV and KPGST are fused based on a Bayesian network. Extensive experiments performed on the VeRi-776 and VehicleID datasets related to functional urban surveillance scenarios demonstrate the competitive performance of our proposed approach. This article describes the application of spatial statistical epidemiological modeling and its inference and applies it to COVID-19 case data, looking at it from a spatial perspective, and considering time-series data. COVID-19 cases in Indonesia are increasing and spreading in all provinces, including Kalimantan. This study uses applied mathematics and spatiotemporal analysis to determine the factors affecting the constant rise of COVID-19 cases in Kalimantan. The spatiotemporal analysis uses the Geographically Temporally Weighted Regression (GTWR) model by developing a spatial and temporal interaction distance function. The GTWR model was applied to data on positive COVID-19 cases at a scale of 56 districts/cities in Kalimantan between the period of January 2020 and August 2021. The purpose of the study was to determine the factors affecting the cumulative increase in COVID-19 cases in Kalimantan and map the spatial distribution for 56 districts/cities based on the significant predictor variables. The results of the study show that the GTWR model with the development of a spatial and temporal interaction distance function using the kernel Gaussian fixed bandwidth function is a better model compared to the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) model. According to the significant variables, there are various factors affecting the rise in cases of COVID-19 in the region of Kalimantan, including the number of doctors, the number of TB cases, the percentage of elderly population, GRDP, and the number of hospitals. The highest factors that affect COVID-19 cases are the high number of TB cases, population density, and the lack of health services. Furthermore, an area map was produced on the basis of the significant variables affected by the rise in COVID-19 cases. Enhancers are cis-regulatory elements containing short DNA sequences that serve as binding sites for pioneer/regulatory transcription factors, thus orchestrating the regulation of genes critical for lineage determination. The activity of enhancer elements is believed to be determined by transcription factor binding, thus determining the cell state identity during development. Precise spatio-temporal control of the transcriptome during lineage specification requires the coordinated binding of lineage-specific transcription factors to enhancers. Thus, enhancers are the primary determinants of cell identity. Numerous studies have explored the role and mechanism of enhancers during development and disease, and various basic questions related to the functions and mechanisms of enhancers have not yet been fully answered. In this review, we discuss the recently published literature regarding the roles of enhancers, which are critical for various biological processes governing development. Furthermore, we also highlight that altered enhancer landscapes provide an essential context to understand the etiologies and mechanisms behind numerous complex human diseases, providing new avenues for effective enhancer-based therapeutic interventions. Even though wind, water depth, and shear stress are important factors governing sediment resuspension in lakes, their actual relations to total suspended solids (TSS) distribution in natural environments have not been well elucidated. This study aims to elucidate the impact of the wind on the spatio-temporal variation of TSS in Tonle Sap Lake, Cambodia, during low-water (March and June, <1 m) and high-water (September and December, 8-10 m) seasons. To this end, wind and TSS data for December 2016 and March, June, and September 2017 were collected and analyzed. For spatial interpolation of wind speed, the inverse distance weighted method was found to be better (R² = 0.49) than the vectorized average (R² = 0.30) and inverse of the ratio of distance (R² = 0.31). Spatial interpolation showed that the wind speed and direction on the lake were <5 m/s and southward during the low-water season and <7 m/s and westward during the high-water season. The TSS concentration in the low-water season was higher (>50 mg/L) than that in the high-water season. The TSS concentration during the low-water season was empirically described by wind speed (W), water depth (D), and shear stress (t_wave) with a function of W³, W³/D, and exp(W/D) or exp(t_wave), depending on the location in the lake. The critical shear stress due to wind-induced waves at most of the places in the lake was higher than the total shear stress indicated. Sedimentation was predominant in December and June, and erosion (siltation) was dominant in March. Most of the siltation in March was dominant in the southern part of the lake. Droughts can cause significant damage to agriculture and water resources, leading to severe economic losses and loss of life. One of the most important aspect is to develop effective tools to forecast drought events that could be helpful in mitigation strategies. The understanding of droughts has become more challenging because of the effect of climate change, urbanization and water management; therefore, the present study aims to forecast droughts by determining an appropriate index and analyzing its changes, using climate variables. The work was conducted in three different phases, first being the determination of Standard Precipitation Evaporation Index (SPEI), using global climatic dataset of Climate Research Unit (CRU) from 1901–2018. The indices are calculated at different monthly intervals which could depict short-term or long-term changes, and the index value represents different drought classes, ranging from extremely dry to extremely wet. However, the present study was focused only on forecasting at short-term scales for New South Wales (NSW) region of Australia and was conducted at two different time scales, one month and three months. The second phase involved dividing the data into three sample sizes, training (1901–2010), testing (2011–2015) and validation (2016–2018). Finally, a machine learning approach, Random Forest (RF), was used to train and test the data, using various climatic variables, e.g., rainfall, potential evapotranspiration, cloud cover, vapor pressure and temperature (maximum, minimum and mean). The final phase was to analyze the performance of the model based on statistical metrics and drought classes. Regarding this, the performance of the testing period was conducted by using statistical metrics, Coefficient of Determination (R2) and Root-Mean-Square-Error (RMSE) method. The performance of the model showed a considerably higher value of R2 for both the time scales. However, statistical metrics analyzes the variation between the predicted and observed index values, and it does not consider the drought classes. Therefore, the variation in predicted and observed SPEI values were analyzed based on different drought classes, which were validated by using the Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC)-based Area under the Curve (AUC) approach. The results reveal that the classification of drought classes during the validation period had an AUC of 0.82 for SPEI 1 case and 0.84 for SPEI 3 case. The study depicts that the Random Forest model can perform both regression and classification analysis for drought studies in NSW. The work also suggests that the performance of any model for drought forecasting should not be limited only through statistical metrics, but also by examining the variation in terms of drought characteristics. Buses, as the most commonly used public transport, play a significant role in cities. Predicting bus traffic flow cannot only build an efficient and safe transportation network but also improve the current situation of road traffic congestion, which is very important for urban development. However, bus traffic flow has complex spatial and temporal correlations, as well as specific scenario patterns compared with other modes of transportation, which is one of the biggest challenges when building models to predict bus traffic flow. In this study, we explore bus traffic flow and its specific scenario patterns, then we build improved spatio-temporal residual networks to predict bus traffic flow, which uses fully connected neural networks to capture the bus scenario patterns and improved residual networks to capture the bus traffic flow spatio-temporal correlation. Time series vegetation indices with high spatial resolution and high temporal frequency are important for crop growth monitoring and management. However, due to technical constraints and cloud contamination, it is difficult to obtain such datasets. In this study, a spatio-temporal vegetation index image fusion model (STVIFM) was developed to generate high spatial resolution Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) time-series images with higher accuracy, since most of the existing methods have some limitations in accurately predicting NDVI in heterogeneous regions, or rely on very computationally intensive steps and land cover maps for heterogeneous regions. The STVIFM aims to predict the fine-resolution NDVI through understanding the contribution of each fine-resolution pixel to the total NDVI change, which was calculated from the coarse-resolution images acquired on two dates. On the one hand, it considers the difference in relationships between the fine- and coarse-resolution images on different dates and the difference in NDVI change rates at different growing stages. On the other hand, it neither needs to search similar pixels nor needs to use land cover maps. The Landsat-8 and MODIS data acquired over three test sites with different landscapes were used to test the spatial and temporal performance of the proposed model. Compared with the spatial and temporal adaptive reflectance fusion model (STARFM), enhanced spatial and temporal adaptive reflectance fusion model (ESTARFM) and the flexible spatiotemporal data fusion (FSDAF) method, the proposed STVIFM outperforms the STARFM and ESTARFM at three study sites and different stages when the land cover or NDVI changes were captured by the two pairs of fine- and coarse-resolution images, and it is more robust and less computationally intensive than the FSDAF. Spatial symmetries occur in combination with temporal symmetries in a wide range of physical systems in nature, including time-periodic quantum systems typically described by the Floquet formalism. In this context, groups formed by three-dimensional point group symmetry operations in combination with time translation operations are discussed in this work. The derivation of these 'spatio-temporal' groups from conventional point groups and their irreducible representations is outlined, followed by a complete listing. The groups are presented in a template similar to space group operations, and are visualized using a modified version of conventional stereographic projections. Since the climatic features of South Korea are highly complex and time variable, spatio-temporal-based drought frequency analysis is a prerequisite for drought risk management. The spatial extent of drought risk analysis in a bivariate framework has scarcely been applied in South Korea before. In this study, the spatio-temporal changes in drought events are investigated at 55 stations across South Korea during 1980-2015. A variety of probability distributions and copulas are applied, and the best fitted is selected on the basis the goodness of fit. The spatial distributions of primary and secondary return periods showed a high risk of drought due to the unusual precipitation pattern in the western coast areas and at Uljin station and a relative low risk of drought in the northwestern portion and surrounding areas of Yeongju, Uiseong, Boeun and Daejeon stations. Overall, the spatial distribution patterns of primary and secondary (Kendall) return periods are similar. However, their applicability changes according to the type of drought risk to be considered. The spatio-temporal quantification of the return period can be used for establishing the proper water demand and supply system and helps to overcome the challenges faced in the hydrometeorological regulations of reservoirs in the southwest coast. To improve the accuracy of winter wheat yield estimation, the Crop Environment Resource Synthesis for Wheat (CERES-Wheat) model with an assimilation strategy was performed by assimilating measured or remotely-sensed leaf area index (LAI) values. The performances of the crop model for two different assimilation methods were compared by employing particle filters (PF) and the proper orthogonal decomposition-based ensemble four-dimensional variational (POD4DVar) strategies. The uncertainties of wheat yield estimates due to different assimilation temporal scales (phenological stages and temporal frequencies) and spatial scale were also analyzed. The results showed that, compared with the crop model without assimilation and with PF-based assimilation, a better yield estimate performance resulted when the POD4DVar-based strategy was used at the field scale. When using this strategy, root mean square errors (RMSE) of 523 kg·ha−1, 543 kg·ha−1 and 172 kg·ha−1 and relative errors (RE) of 5.65%, 5.91% and 7.77% were obtained at the field plot scale, a pixel scale of 1 km and the county scale, respectively. Although the best yield estimates were obtained when all of the observed LAIs were assimilated into the crop model, an acceptable estimate of crop yield could also be achieved by assimilating fewer observations between jointing and anthesis periods of the crop growth season. With decreasing assimilation frequency and pixel resolution, the accuracy of the crop yield estimates decreased; however, the computation time decreased. Thus, it is important to consider reasonable spatio-temporal scales to obtain tradeoffs between accuracy and effectiveness in regional wheat estimates. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We consider the problem of testing for a structural break in the spatial lag parameter in a panel model (spatial autoregressive). We propose a likelihood ratio test of the null hypothesis of no break against the alternative hypothesis of a single break. The limiting distribution of the test is derived under the null when both the number of individual units N and the number of time periods T is large or N is fixed and T is large. The asymptotic critical values of the test statistic can be obtained analytically. We also propose a break-date estimator that can be employed to determine the location of the break point following evidence against the null hypothesis. We present Monte Carlo evidence to show that the proposed procedure performs well in finite samples. Advancements in Bayesian spatial and spatio-temporal modelling have been observed in recent years. Despite this, there are unresolved issues about the choice of appropriate spatial unit and adjacency matrix in disease mapping. There is limited systematic review evidence on this topic. This review aimed to address these problems. We searched seven databases to find published articles on this topic. A modified quality assessment tool was used to assess the quality of studies. A total of 52 studies were included, of which 26 (50.0%) were on infectious diseases, 10 (19.2%) on chronic diseases, 8 (15.5%) on maternal and child health, and 8 (15.5%) on other health-related outcomes. Only 6 studies reported the reasons for using the specified spatial unit, 8 (15.3%) studies conducted sensitivity analysis for prior selection, and 39 (75%) of the studies used Queen contiguity adjacency. This review highlights existing variation and limitations in the specification of Bayesian spatial and spatio-temporal models used in health research. We found that majority of the studies failed to report the rationale for the choice of spatial units, perform sensitivity analyses on the priors, or evaluate the choice of neighbourhood adjacency, all of which can potentially affect findings in their studies.

This research investigates spatio-temporal patterns of police calls-for-service in the Region of Waterloo, Canada, at a fine spatial and temporal resolution. Modeling was implemented via Bayesian Integrated Nested Laplace Approximation (INLA). Temporal patterns for two-hour time periods, spatial patterns at the small-area scale, and space-time interaction (i.e., unusual departures from overall spatial and temporal patterns) were estimated. Temporally, calls-for-service were found to be lowest in the early morning (02:00-03:59) and highest in the evening (20:00-21:59), while high levels of calls-for-service were spatially located in central business areas and in areas characterized by major roadways, universities, and shopping centres. Space-time interaction was observed to be geographically dispersed during daytime hours but concentrated in central business areas during evening hours. Interpreted through the routine activity theory, results are discussed with respect to law enforcement resource demand and allocation, and the advantages of modeling spatio-temporal datasets with Bayesian INLA methods are highlighted. In this paper, the spatio-temporal (multi-channel) linear models, which use temporal and the neighbouring wind speed measurements around the target location, for the best short-term wind speed forecasting are investigated. Multi-channel autoregressive moving average (MARMA) models are formulated in matrix form and efficient linear prediction coefficient estimation techniques are first used and revised. It is shown in detail how to apply these MARMA models to the spatially distributed wind speed measurements. The proposedMARMAmodels are tested using real wind speed measurements which are collected from the five stations around Canakkale region of Turkey. According to the test results, considerable improvements are observed over the well known persistence, autoregressive (AR) and multi-channel/vector autoregressive (VAR) models. It is highly desirable to accurately detect the clouds in satellite images before any kind of applications. However, clouds and snow discrimination in remote sensing images is a challenging task because of their similar spectral signature. The shortwave infrared (SWIR, e.g., Landsat TM 1.55-1.75 µm band) band is widely used for the separation of cloud and snow. However, for some sensors such as the CBERS-2 (China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite), CBERS-4 and HJ-1A/B (HuanJing (HJ), which means environment in Chinese) that are designed without SWIR band, such methods are no longer practical. In this paper, a new practical method was proposed to discriminate clouds from snow through combining the spectral reflectance with the spatio-temporal contextual information. Taking the Mt. Gongga region, where there is frequent clouds and snow cover, in China as a case area, the detailed methodology was introduced on how to use the 181 scenes of HJ-1A/B CCD images in the year 2011 to discriminate clouds and snow in these images. Visual inspection revealed that clouds and snow pixels can be accurately separated by the proposed method. The pixel-level quantitative accuracy validation was conducted by comparing the detection results with the reference cloud masks generated by a random-tile validation scheme. The pixel-level validation results showed that the coefficient of determination (R²) between the reference cloud masks and the detection results was 0.95, and the average overall accuracy, precision and recall for clouds were 91.32%, 85.33% and 81.82%, respectively. The experimental results confirmed that the proposed method was effective at providing reasonable cloud mask for the SWIR-lacking HJ-1A/B CCD images. Since HJ-1A/B have been in orbit for over seven years and these satellites still run well, the proposed method is helpful for the cloud mask generation of the historical archive HJ-1A/B images and even similar sensors. Shallow coral reefs threatened by climate change must be spatio-temporally analyzed in terms of their protection of coastal human populations. This study combines Japanese spatio-temporal gradients of population/asset and coral buffering exposure to stress-inducing and stress-mitigating factors so that the socio-economic and ecological (SEE) resilience tied to coral reefscapes can be regionally mapped (1200 km) at a fine resolution (1 arcsec) over a decade (11 years). Fuzzy logic was employed to associated environmental factors based on the related population/asset/coral buffering responses, as found in the literature. Once the factors were weighted according to their resilience contributions, temporally static patterns were evident: (1) a negative correlation occurs between coral buffering resilience and latitude; (2) the least resilient islands are low-lying, deprived of wide reef barriers, and located on the eastern and southern boundaries of the Nansei archipelago; (3) the southwestern-most, middle and northeastern-most islands have the same SEE resilience; and (4) Sekisei Lagoon islands have a very high coral buffering resilience. To overcome uncertainty, future studies should focus on the socio-ecological adaptive capacity, fine-scale ecological processes (such as coral and fish functional groups) and the prediction of the flood risks in the coming decades. Global Positioning System (GPS) and geodetic control networks are used today for analyzing and monitoring time-dependent crustal deformations, providing a series of accurate positional measurements to deliver information on positional changes and deformations that have occurred. Still, such networks present a low-resolution dispersal of positional measures, and do not take into account various physical constraints that affect the terrain's seismic behavior. An alternative form of spatio-temporal infrastructure that is feasible and practical to establish might involve the use of Digital Terrain Model (DTM) databases. These databases use higher positional resolutions, and are exhibiting an increasing level of positional and height accuracy. Still, when comparing temporal DTMs, the separation of actual physical phenomena from data-related ambiguities is essential in the framework of spatio-temporal analysis. This paper proposes the use of a hierarchical co-modeling of different DTM databases for the task of landform monitoring. Analyses showed promising results, pointing to the feasibility of the proposed methodology in monitoring and quantifying topographic-related spatio-temporal phenomena, such as landslides and change detection, thus facilitating a reliable and precise landform monitoring and warning framework for geomorphodynamic analyses. To prevent environmental degradation, China's central government launched the "Grain for Green Project" (GGP) in 1999. Since its beginning, the effects and influences of the GGP have been hotly debated among domestic and international scholars and policymakers. This paper is taking the County of Yanchuan in the Loess Plateau as a case study, examines the spatio-temporal patterns of cropland conversion in response to the GGP. This research is methodologically based on remote sensing (RS) and geographic information systems (GIS), and also employs personal interviews with local government officials and farmers. The results show that land use/cover patterns in Yanchuan County have changed dramatically after the implementation of GGP. Cropland has decreased remarkably, while orchard land and sparse forest has increased significantly: 23.84% of cropland was converted to orchard, and 22.25% to sparse forest. Simultaneously, the landscape has become more fragmented but also more diversified, forestland has become more dominant. A total of 61.19% of the total converted cropland was on slopes greater than 15 degrees, 64.85% of which was lower-grade land. The converted cropland is mostly located in more accessible areas for convenient management. Partially affected by farmers' self-willingness, sloping cropland was preferred to orchard (economic forest), and some gentle slope (less than 15 degrees) or higher-grade cropland were involved in the GGP. To maintain and reinforce the achievements of the GGP and further contribute to the GGP's sustainability and rural development, the paper recommends that the Chinese government should build a continuous compensation mechanism for the households who lost cropland for the GGP while improving the productivity of flat cropland. Visualizing quantitative time-dependent changes in the topography requires relying on a series of discrete given multi-temporal topographic datasets that were acquired on a given time-line. The reality of physical phenomenon occurring during the acquisition times is complex when trying to mutually model the datasets; thus, different levels of spatial inter-relations and geometric inconsistencies among the datasets exist. Any straight forward simulation will result in a truncated, ill-correct and un-smooth visualization. A desired quantitative and qualitative modelling is presumed to describe morphologic changes that occurred, so it can be utilized to carry out more precise and true-to-nature visualization tasks, while trying to best describe the reality transition as it occurred. This research paper suggests adopting a fully automatic hierarchical modelling mechanism, hence implementing several levels of spatial correspondence between the topographic datasets. This quantification is then utilized for the datasets morphing and blending tasks required for intermediate scene visualization. The establishment of a digital model that stores the local spatial transformation parameterization correspondences between the topographic datasets is realized. Along with designated interpolation concepts, this complete process ensures that the visualized transition from one topographic dataset to the other via the quantified correspondences is smooth and continuous, while maintaining morphological and topological relations. Salient object perception is the process of sensing the salient information from the spatio-temporal visual scenes, which is a rapid pre-attention mechanism for the target location in a visual smart sensor. In recent decades, many successful models of visual saliency perception have been proposed to simulate the pre-attention behavior. Since most of the methods usually need some ad hoc parameters or high-cost preprocessing, they are difficult to rapidly detect salient object or be implemented by computing parallelism in a smart sensor. In this paper, we propose a novel spatio-temporal saliency perception method based on spatio-temporal hypercomplex spectral contrast (HSC). Firstly, the proposed HSC algorithm represent the features in the HSV (hue, saturation and value) color space and features of motion by a hypercomplex number. Secondly, the spatio-temporal salient objects are efficiently detected by hypercomplex Fourier spectral contrast in parallel. Finally, our saliency perception model also incorporates with the non-uniform sampling, which is a common phenomenon of human vision that directs visual attention to the logarithmic center of the image/video in natural scenes. The experimental results on the public saliency perception datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach compared to eleven state-of-the-art approaches. Loss to follow-up (LTFU) is a risk factor for poor outcomes in HIV patients. The spatio-temporal risk of LTFU is useful to identify hotspots and guide policy. Secondary data on adult HIV patients attending a clinic in provinces of Zimbabwe between 2009 and 2016 were used to estimate the LTFU risk in each of the 10 provinces. A hierarchical Bayesian spatio-temporal Poisson regression model was fitted using the Integrated Nested Laplace Approximation (INLA) package with LTFU as counts adjusting for age, gender, WHO clinical stage, tuberculosis coinfection and duration on ART. The structured random effects were modelled using the conditional autoregression technique and the temporal random effects were modelled using first-order random walk Gaussian priors. The overall rate of LTFU was 22.7% (95%CI: 22.6/22.8) with Harare (50.28%) and Bulawayo (31.11%) having the highest rates. A one-year increase in the average number of years on ART reduced the risk of LTFU by 35% (relative risk (RR) = 0.651; 95%CI: 0.592-0.712). In general, the provinces with the highest exceedance LTFU risk were Matabeleland South and Matabeleland North. LTFU is one of the drawbacks of HIV prevention. Interventions targeting high-risk regions in the southern and northern regions of Zimbabwe are a priority. Community-based interventions and programmes which mitigate LTFU risk remain essential in the global HIV prevention campaign.

Natural disasters have frequently occurred and caused great harm. Although the remote sensing technology can effectively provide disaster data, it still needs to consider the relevant information from multiple aspects for disaster analysis. It is hard to build an analysis model that can integrate the remote sensing and the large-scale relevant information, particularly at the sematic level. This paper proposes a disaster prediction knowledge graph for disaster prediction by integrating remote sensing information, relevant geographic information, with the expert knowledge in the field of disaster analysis. This paper constructs the conceptual layer and instance layer of the knowledge graph by building a common semantic ontology of disasters and a unified spatio-temporal framework benchmark. Moreover, this paper represents the disaster prediction model in the forms of knowledge of disaster prediction. This paper demonstrates experiments and cases studies regarding the forest fire and geological landslide risk. Monitoring the spatio-temporal dynamics of the Eastern Plain Lake (EPL) is vital to the local environment and economy. However, due to the limitations and efficiency of traditional image formats in storing and processing large amounts of images and optimal threshold adjustments are often necessary for water/non-water separation based on traditional multi-band/spectral water indexes over large areas and in the long-term, previous studies have either been on a short period or mainly focused on water inundation dynamics of several lakes. To address these issues, a multi-dimensional dataset (MDD) storage format was used to efficiently organize more than ~7000 time series composite MODIS images. Furthermore, a universal normalized water index (UNWI) was developed based on full-spectrum information to simplify optimal threshold adjustments. Consequently, the present study analyzed the patterns of spatio-temporal water dynamic patterns and potential driving factors of inundation changes at large lakes (>5 km2) in the EPL during 2000–2020 through MDD and UNWI. In terms of annual inundation patterns, the numbers of lakes that experienced significant (p < 0.05) decreases (17 lakes) and increases (43 lakes) were highest for Class IV lakes among six geographical classes. Variation in intra-annual inundation in Classes I and II is correlated with consumption of chemical fertilizers (CCF), while precipitation accounted for the most change in lake area in Class III. Satellite-based interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) is an invaluable technique in the detection and monitoring of changes on the surface of the earth. Its high spatial coverage, weather friendly and remote nature are among the advantages of the tool. The multi-temporal differential InSAR (DInSAR) methods in particular estimate the spatio-temporal evolution of deformation by incorporating information from multiple SAR images. Moreover, opportunities from the DInSAR techniques are accompanied by challenges that affect the final outputs. Resolving the inherent ambiguities of interferometric phases, especially in areas with a high spatio-temporal deformation gradient, represents the main challenge. This brings the necessity of quality indices as important DInSAR data processing tools in achieving ultimate processing outcomes. Often such indices are not provided with the deformation products. In this work, we propose four scores associated with (i) measurement points, (ii) dates of time series, (iii) interferograms and (iv) images involved in the processing. These scores are derived from a redundant set of interferograms and are calculated based on the consistency of the unwrapped interferometric phases in the frame of a least-squares adjustment. The scores reflect the occurrence of phase unwrapping errors and represent valuable input for the analysis and exploitation of the DInSAR results. The proposed tools were tested on 432,311 points, 1795 interferograms and 263 Sentinel-1 single look complex images by employing the small baseline technique in the PSI processing chain, PSIG of the geomatics division of the Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC). Travel time information is used as input or auxiliary data for tasks such as dynamic navigation, infrastructure planning, congestion control, and accident detection. Various data-driven Travel Time Prediction (TTP) methods have been proposed in recent years. One of the most challenging tasks in TTP is developing and selecting the most appropriate prediction algorithm. The existing studies that empirically compare different TTP models only use a few models with specific features. Moreover, there is a lack of research on explaining TTPs made by black-box models. Such explanations can help to tune and apply TTP methods successfully. To fill these gaps in the current TTP literature, using three data sets, we compare three types of TTP methods (ensemble tree-based learning, deep neural networks, and hybrid models) and ten different prediction algorithms overall. Furthermore, we apply XAI (Explainable Artificial Intelligence) methods (SHAP and LIME) to understand and interpret models' predictions. The prediction accuracy and reliability for all models are evaluated and compared. We observed that the ensemble learning methods, i.e., XGBoost and LightGBM, are the best performing models over the three data sets, and XAI methods can adequately explain how various spatial and temporal features influence travel time. Spatio-temporal models need to address specific features of spatio-temporal infection data, such as periods of stable infection levels (endemicity), followed by epidemic phases, as well as infection spread from neighbouring areas. In this paper, we consider a mixture-link model for infection counts that allows alternation between epidemic phases (possibly multiple) and stable endemicity, with higher AR1 coefficients in epidemic phases. This is a form of regime-switching, allowing for non-stationarity in infection levels. We adopt a generalised Poisson model appropriate to the infection count data and avoid transformations (e.g., differencing) to alternative metrics, which have been adopted in many studies. We allow for neighbourhood spillover in infection, which is also governed by adaptive regime-switching. Compared to existing models, the observational (in-sample) model is expected to better reflect the balance between epidemic and endemic tendencies, and short-term extrapolations are likely to be improved. Two case study applications involve COVID area-time data, one for 32 London boroughs (and 96 weeks) since the start of the COVID epidemic, the other for a shorter time span focusing on the epidemic phase in 144 areas of Southeast England associated with the Alpha variant. In both applications, the proposed methods produce a better in-sample fit and out-of-sample short term predictions. The spatial dynamic implications are highlighted in the case studies.
