Nitrogen fertilizer affects rice endosperm protein, which in turn affects rice taste. However, study of nitrogen regulation of protein components is not sufficient. To clarify the effects of nitrogen fertilizer on rice protein components and related traits, we used two high albumin content and two low glutelin content rice varieties as test materials and analyzed the relationship between protein components and rice eating quality. The results showed that nitrogen application significantly affected prolamine and glutelin contents; moreover, a relationship was observed between variety and fertilization level. The protein components of the low glutelin content rice varieties were sensitive to nitrogen treatment; the albumin and globulin contents increased, whereas the prolamine and glutelin contents decreased following treatment with medium level nitrogen. Nitrogen treatment also significantly affected the apparent amylose content (AAC) of varieties except Yinguang. The eating characteristics of the high albumin content varieties differed significantly among nitrogen treatments, and the two varieties tasted better following treatment with high concentrations of nitrogen. In conclusion, the short chain of amylopectin in the endosperm had a greater direct effect on taste, but the effect was opposite in the two varieties. The new energy industry serves as a key driver for green growth, and unlocking its core competitiveness is essential for achieving sustainable development. This study focuses on the new energy industry in Shandong province from 2010 to 2021, constructing an evaluation system for core competitiveness across three dimensions: industrial competitive environment, industrial competitive strength, and industrial competitive potential. Utilizing the entropy weight TOPSIS method and the obstacle degree model, this paper delves into the evolving characteristics and hindering factors affecting the core competitiveness of the new energy industry in Shandong province. The findings reveal the following: (1) over the study period, the core competitiveness of the new energy industry in Shandong province underwent stages of small fluctuations, slow growth, and rapid expansion, indicating an overall upward trajectory. (2) The primary obstacle to improving core competitiveness lies in the industrial competitive environment, particularly highlighted by factors such as the number of industrial service departments, existing policies, the growth rate of investment in the new energy industry, and the number of research and development personnel in large-scale new energy enterprises. The potato rot nematode (Ditylenchus destructor) is one of the most destructive pests in the production of tuber crops, resulting in severely decreased yields and inferior product quality. In 2021, a great number of nematodes were detected in the roots of Mazus japonicus, a weed that is harmful to crop growth, in Qingdao, Shandong Province, China. The present study was undertaken to characterize and identify the nematodes isolated from M. japonicus through morphological identification and molecular approaches. Their morphological characteristics were highly consistent with the descriptions of D. destructor Thorne, 1945. The nematodes collected from M. japonicus were identified as D. destructor haplotype B using D1/D2 and sequence characterized amplified region (SCAR) primers. PCR-ITS-RFLP analysis was conducted to monitor intraspecific variations. In addition, the phylogenetic analysis of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) demonstrated that this D. destructor population was clustered in haplotype B, supported by a 100% bootstrap value. Another assay, in which M. japonicus was inoculated with a mixture of the life stages of D. destructor, was performed. This assay showed that M. japonicus exhibited a high susceptibility to D. destructor in pots. This is the first record of D. destructor parasitizing M. japonicus in China, and it is of great importance because M. japonicus could be a potential reservoir for D. destructor in the field. In this paper, the high strength and lightweight Al–Cu–Li alloy (AA2099) is considered in as-built and preheated conditions (440 °C, 460 °C, 480 °C, 500 °C, and 520 °C). The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) in situ preheating on precipitation microstructure, mechanical and corrosive properties of LPBF-printed AA2099 alloy compared to the conventionally processed and heat-treated (T83) alloy. It is shown that precipitations evolve with increasing preheating temperatures from predominantly globular Cu-rich phases at lower temperatures (as-built, 440 °C) to more plate and rod-like precipitates (460 °C, 480 °C, 500 °C and 520 °C). Attendant increase with increasing preheating temperatures are the amount of low melting Cu-rich phases and precipitation-free zones (PFZ). Hardness of preheated LPBF samples peaks at 480 °C (93.6 HV0.1), and declines afterwards, although inferior to the T83 alloy (168.6 HV0.1). Preheated sample (500 °C) shows superior elongation (14.1%) compared to the T83 (11.3%) but falls short in tensile and yield strength properties. Potentiodynamic polarization results also show that increasing preheating temperature increases the corrosion current density (Icorr) and corrosion rate. In this study, we analyzed the brightness temperature characteristics of short-duration heavy rainfall (SDHR) along the Chengdu–Chongqing Railway (CCR), an important corridor of economic and transportation activity in southwest China. Our findings could prove useful in the monitoring and advance warning of SDHR events: (1) SDHR predominantly occurred from July to August, with a peak frequency in July in the CCR area. In terms of diurnal variation, SDHR was mainly observed at night, particularly between 22:00–05:00 and 06:00–09:00 (local time), with a peak at 01:00; (2) The relationship between SDHR and equivalent blackbody temperature (TBB) further showed that the occurrence of SDHR was accompanied by TBB decreasing to its minimum value, after which it increased, and SDHR ceased. In cases where TBB approached its minimum value after 1 h but continued to decrease slightly, SDHR continued. When SDHR occurred, the majority of the TBB values were recorded in the range 190–230 K; within this range, values between 190 and 200 K were most frequently recorded. The acidizing corrosion inhibitors reported so far have a poor effect on duplex stainless steel in high-temperature and high-concentration acid systems and cannot effectively inhibit the occurrence of selective corrosion. In this paper, a new acidizing corrosion inhibitor was designed, which was mainly composed of Mannich base and antimony salt. The inorganic substance in the corrosion inhibitor had good stability at high temperatures and could quickly form a complex with the metal matrix to enhance the binding ability. The organic substance can make up for the non-dense part of the inorganic film. The properties of developed corrosion inhibitors were analyzed by quantum chemical calculation, molecular dynamics simulation, and scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that a double-layer membrane structure could be constructed after adding the corrosion inhibitor, which could play a good role in blocking the diffusion of acid solution at high-temperature. The uniform corrosion rate of 2205 duplex stainless steel after adding acidizing corrosion inhibitor immersion in a simulated service condition (9 wt.% HCl + 1.5 wt.% HF + 3 wt.% CH3COOH + 4~6 wt.%) at 140 °C, 160 °C and 180 °C for a 4 h test is 6.9350 g·m−2·h−1, 6.3899 g·m−2·h−1 and 12.1881 g·m−2·h−1, respectively, which shows excellent corrosion inhibition effect and is far lower than that of the commonly accepted 81 g·m−2·h−1 and no selective corrosion could be detected. Increasing soybean production and ensuring greater access to soybean protein and lipids is critical for global food security and human health. Seed size (i.e., seed weight) is one of the most important agronomic traits of soybean, which not only determines the seed yield, but can also affect the yield of protein and lipids. In China, farmers favor soybean cultivars with large seeds, which they believe produce more protein and lipids; however, experimental evidence supporting this belief is lacking. Therefore, we conducted field experiments from 2017 to 2020 at 35 locations across the Huang-Huai-Hai region (HHH) of China with 64 soybean cultivars. The seed yield, seed protein content, and seed lipids content of soybean, and their relationship with seed size were investigated. The highest seed yield (i.e., seed weight per unit area) was 2996.5 kg ha−1 in the north of HHH. However, the highest seed protein content was found in the south of HHH (42.5%) for the higher temperature, which was significantly higher than that of the middle (41.7%) and north of HHH (40.2%). In contrast, the highest seed lipids content was 20.7% in the north of HHH. Temperature, which had a path coefficient on seed yield of 0.519, can promote soybean seed yield. The correlation analysis indicated that the selection of the large seed size cultivar did not increase seed yield, and even led to a reduction of seed yield under high-yield environmental conditions. The seed protein content of soybean was not increased in the cultivars with large seed sizes. In addition, under different levels of seed lipids content (<20.30% or >20.30%), a significantly negative relationship was found between seed lipids content and hundred seed weight. Therefore, it is recommended that farmers choose to plant cultivars with smaller soybean seed sizes, so as to ensure high and stable soybean seed yield and obtain more vegetable protein and lipids per unit area. During the service process of the mechanized fishing boat, its low carbon steel hull and parts are extremely susceptible to Cl− erosion and seawater scouring, which cause a decrease in strength and lead to failure. To increase its service life and reduce maintenance costs, coating protection technology is widely used. In order to solve the problem of poor adhesion between paint coating and substrate and low strength of metal coating, NiCrMo-WC coatings with different WC contents (0 wt.%, 5 wt.%, 10 wt.%, 15 wt.%, 20 wt.%) were prepared on the surface of Q235 substrate by plasma cladding technology. The coatings were characterized by X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy spectrum analysis (EDS), etc. Its phase formation rule, microstructure and element distribution were studied. Microhardness test and electrochemical corrosion test were carried out. The study found that the 20 WC coating has the highest average hardness (563.1 HV). It is about 3.25 times of the Q235 substrate. It has the lowest friction, wear rate and lower friction coefficient, showing the best wear resistance. The 15 WC coating has the lowest self-corrosion current density (3.4934 × 10−7 A/cm2) and the lowest corrosion rate (0.0041 mm/a), which is only 3.7% of the corrosion rate of Q235 steel. Crop heat units (CHU) and ≥10 °C active accumulated temperature (≥10 °C AAT) are important indexes to quantify the effects of temperature on soybean development. The relative maturity group (RMG) is widely used in the classification of different soybean varieties. However, CHU and ≥10 °C AAT (AAT) were applied in Canada and northeastern China, respectively, and the relationships among CHU, AAT and RMG are poorly documented. The objective of this study is to analyze the conversion function among CHU, AAT and RMG based on two datasets. The first dataset was obtained to analyze the relationship between RMG and AAT in 395 varieties in Northeast China. The second dataset was obtained to calculate the relationship between CHU and AAT at 95 weather stations based on 30-year climatic data (1990–2019). The results showed that both relationships were significantly and positively correlated, and the R-square of these relationships were 0.90 and 0.98, respectively. The distribution of CHU or AAT in the Northeast is proposed. These results can be extensively used for predicting the CHU or AAT of soybean cultivars given the known RMG, thus determining the adaptation zone as well as the growth stage of agricultural practices and responses to heat accumulation. Developing medium-Mn steels (MMnS) demands a better understanding of the microstructure evolution during thermo-mechanical treatments (TMTs). This study demonstrates the relationship among processing, microstructure, and mechanical properties of a warm-rolled medium-Mn steel (MMnS) containing 1.5 wt. % Cu and 1.5 wt. % Ni. After short-time warm rolling (WR) in an intercritical temperature range, a significant quantity (40.6 vol.%) of austenite was reverted and retained after air cooling. The microstructure and tensile properties of the WR specimens were compared with two typical process routes, namely hot rolling+ cold rolling+ annealing+ tempering (CRAT) and warm rolling+ annealing+ tempering (WRAT). The WR specimen exhibited comparable tensile properties with the CRAT specimens (967 MPa yield strength, 1155 MPa tensile strength, 23% total elongation), with a remarkably shortened process route, which was derived from the dislocation accumulation and austenite reversion during rolling. Optimizing the spatial distribution of plants under normal conditions of water and fertilizer is widely used by farmers to improve soybean yield. However, the relationship between soybean yield and spatial plant distribution in the field has not been well studied. This study examined the effect of planting density and plant distribution pattern on soybean plant growth, yield components, canopy light interception, and dry matter accumulation. We also analyzed the relationship between photosynthetic rate, dry matter accumulation, and yield under different planting densities and plant distribution. A two year field experiment was conducted during the 2018 and 2019 soybean planting seasons. Two planting densities (1.8 × 105 and 2.7 × 105 plants ha−1) and two plant distribution patterns (uniform and non-uniform plant spacing) were tested. Higher planting density significantly increased the canopy light interception and dry matter accumulation during soybean growth, leading to increased soybean productivity. The seed yield of soybean under higher planting density was 22.8% higher than under normal planting density. Soybean planted under uniform spacing significantly reduced the differences plant-to-plant. Uniform plant spacing significantly increased the canopy light interception and dry matter accumulation of the soybean population. In addition, the coefficient of variation of seed weight per plant between individual plants under uniform plant distribution decreased by 71.5% compared with non-uniform plant distribution. Furthermore, uniform plant distribution increased soybean seed yield by 9.5% over non-uniform plant distribution. Soybean is planted in a wide span of the world, and flowering and maturity time is an important trait determining soybean yield formation and adaptation. Maturity loci E1, E2, E3 and E4 were frequently reported as the most influential genetic loci for soybean flowering and maturity. To understand the allelic variation and assess the phenological traits of cultivars with different E allelic combinations in natural environments, 251 cultivars of maturity group (MG) I–V were field tested in 42 locations across four sub-regions in the Huang-Huai-Hai and Northwest region of China and genotyped with KASP markers for E1–E4 loci. The results indicated that mutant alleles were only found in the E1 and E2 locus, all of the cultivars carried functional alleles in the E3 and E4 loci in this area, with the frequency of mutant allele to be higher in early maturity groups (MGs) than late MGs. Among nine E allelic combinations in this area, one photoperiodic insensitive mutation in E2 loci (E1/e2-ns/E3-Ha/E4 and E1/e2-ns/E3-Mi/E4) made up the largest proportion (25.10 and 18.33%), while two photoperiodic insensitive mutations in both E1 and E2 loci (e1-as/e2-ns/E3-Ha/E4) (1.20%) occupied the lowest proportion in this panel. The major combinations of E locus for MGI, MGII and MG III in this area were E1/E2-dl/E3-Mi/E4, E1/e2-ns/E3-Mi/E4 and E1/e2-ns/E3-Ha/E4, respectively. Cultivars carrying e1-as/e2-ns/E3-Ha/E4 genotype flowered earliest (34 days) on average, 7.6 days earlier than the latest-flowering E haplotype (E1/e2-ns/E3-Ha/E4). This study provided an opportunity to detect the E allelic combinations in the Huang-Huai-Hai River Valley and the Northwest China, which would facilitate the improvement of soybean adaptation in the future. Multiple cropping systems boost grain yields and have an immense potential to increase land productivity. In such cropping systems in China, soybean is directly seeded after the wheat harvest in early June. After the wheat harvest, the farmland has low amounts of soil moisture and contains large amounts of wheat straw, which negatively affect soybean growth and yields. To address these challenges, an integrated management practice (IMP) than can achieve precise direct seeding and straw mulching return, was developed. In this study, differences in the soil temperature and moisture, seedling quality, dry matter accumulation, soybean yield, and greenhouse gas emissions were investigated between IMP and the farmers' practices (FP). Compared with the FP treatment, IMP significantly increased the soil moisture and decreased the soil temperature in the topsoil layer. In addition, under the IMP treatment, the rate of emergence and developmental uniformity of soybean plants significantly increased by 21.7% and 99.5%, respectively, thus increasing the leaf area index by 30.0% and dry matter accumulation by 12.0% and, in turn, increasing soybean yields by 24.7%. A principal component analysis showed that the dry matter weight, relative water content, leaf area index, and developmental uniformity were strong sensitivity indices for the IMP treatment. In addition, the intensity of emission of N2O and greenhouse gases under IMP both decreased significantly by 25.1% and 28.9% compared with the FP, respectively. Thus, it was concluded that IMP is a suitable farming practice for sustainable agricultural production, and it has broad prospects for application in wheat–soybean double cropping systems in China and other similar areas globally. Increasing planting density is one of the key management practices to enhance soybean yield. A 2-yr field experiment was conducted in 2018 and 2019 including six planting densities and two soybean cultivars to determine the effects of planting density on branch number and yield, and analyze the contribution of branches to yield. The yield of ZZXA12938 was 4389 kg ha−1, which was significantly higher than that of ZH13 (+22.4%). In combination with planting year and cultivar, the soybean yield increased significantly by 16.2%, 31.4%, 41.4%, and 46.7% for every increase in density of 45,000 plants ha−1. Yield will not increase when planting density exceeds 315,000 plants ha−1. A correlation analysis showed that pod number per plant increased with the increased branch number, while pod number per unit area decreased; thus, soybean yield decreased. With the increase of branch number, the branch contribution to yield increased first, and then plateaued. ZH13 could produce a high yield under a lower planting density due to more branches, while ZZXA12938 had a higher yield potential under a higher planting density due to the smaller branch number and higher tolerance to close planting. The ultrafine-grained (UFG) duplex microstructure of medium-Mn steel consists of a considerable amount of austenite and ferrite/martensite, achieving an extraordinary balance of mechanical properties and alloying cost. In the present work, two heat treatment routes were performed on a cold-rolled medium-Mn steel Fe-12Mn-3Al-0.05C (wt.%) to achieve comparable mechanical properties with different microstructural morphologies. One heat treatment was merely austenite-reverted-transformation (ART) annealing and the other one was a successive combination of austenitization (AUS) and ART annealing. The distinct responses to hydrogen ingression were characterized and discussed. The UFG martensite colonies produced by the AUS + ART process were found to be detrimental to ductility regardless of the amount of hydrogen, which is likely attributed to the reduced lattice bonding strength according to the H-enhanced decohesion (HEDE) mechanism. With an increase in the hydrogen amount, the mixed microstructure (granular + lamellar) in the ART specimen revealed a clear embrittlement transition with the possible contribution of HEDE and H-enhanced localized plasticity (HELP) mechanisms. Medium-Mn steels are characterized by ultrafine-grained (UFG) duplex microstructure consisting of ferrite and a large amount of retained austenite. Intercritical annealing is of great importance to achieving the UFG duplex microstructure and adjusting amount as well as stability of retained austenite. In the present work, the influence of intercritical annealing temperature on the microstructure and mechanical properties was investigated in a cold-rolled medium-Mn steel Fe-12Mn-3Al-0.05C. Particularly, the dependence of microstructural morphology on intercritical annealing temperature was emphasized to reveal the genesis of the microstructural morphology in medium-Mn steels. The ferrite-austenite duplex microstructure manifested an elongated morphology in the specimen annealed at 555 °C, which inherited the lath structure of the cold-rolled state. The medium-Mn steel exhibited a continuous yielding behavior and a relatively low strain-hardening rate. With an increase in intercritical annealing temperature up to 650 °C, the amount of retained austenite increased and microstructure was partially recrystallized, showing a mixture of elongated and equiaxed grain morphologies. When the intercritical annealing was applied at 700 °C, the medium-Mn steel mainly exhibited recrystallized microstructure with equiaxed morphology. The optimal balance between the amount and the stability of retained austenite led to an enhancement of strain hardening and ductility. With a further increase in the intercritical annealing temperature to 750 °C, the medium-Mn steel possessed pronounced strain-hardening behavior at the beginning of the tensile deformation with deteriorated ductility.
