The five-bar linkage, used in the form of a planar manipulator, benefits from easy controllability and relatively simple kinematic structures, which mean that it can be used in several applications in robotics, rehabilitation, and haptic devices, etc. This paper proposes an optimal synthesis method for a symmetrical five-bar linkage of type 5-RRRRR, with a singularity-free dexterous workspace, based on workspaces with predefined shapes, like squares, rectangles, triangles, circles, and ellipses. The synthesis conditions, to avoid singularities, are given as inequations, which can be further substituted with a system of equations, by introducing the supraunitary coefficient, k. The analytical solutions of the resulting system of equations enable the computation of the link lengths of the five-bar linkage. The optimization method provides the optimal value of the supraunitary coefficient, in order to obtain a maximum value for the minimum input transmission angle and a minimum value for the manipulator size. In this paper, the authors present an analytical approach to the optimal synthesis of a symmetrical five-bar linkage for different shapes of workspace, with the same surface and coordinates in terms of the mass center, as well as the resulting link lengths. In regard to the numerical examples, the authors considered and compared performance indices, such as manipulability, the condition number, and stiffness. The considered examples showed that an equilateral triangle-shaped workspace achieved higher global manipulability, a square-shaped workspace achieved higher global dexterity and the minimum input transmission angle, and circular workspaces achieved the highest mean stiffness and total surface size. Space non-cooperative target recognition is crucial for on-orbit servicing. Multi-satellite cooperation has great potential for broadening the observation scope and enhancing identification efficiency. However, there is currently a lack of research on recognition methods tailored for multi-satellite cooperative observation. In this paper, we propose a novel space non-cooperative target recognition method to identify satellites and debris in images from multi-satellite observations. Firstly, we design an image-stitching algorithm to generate space-wide-area images. Secondly, we propose a two-stage multi-target detection model, a lighter CNN model with distance merge threshold (LCNN-DMT). Specifically, in the first stage, we propose a novel foreground extraction model based on a minimum bounding rectangle with the threshold for distance merging (MBRT-D) to address redundant detection box extraction for satellite components. Then, in the second stage, we propose an improved SqueezeNet model by introducing separable convolution and attention mechanisms for target classification. Moreover, due to the absence of a public multi-target detection dataset containing satellites and debris, we construct two space datasets by introducing a randomized data augmentation strategy. Further experiments demonstrate that our method can achieve high-precision image stitching and superior recognition performance. In recent years, deep-learning methods have significantly improved the classification results in the field of plant-leaf recognition. However, limited by the model input, the original image needs to be compressed to a certain size before it can be input into the convolutional neural network. This results in great changes in the shape and texture information of some samples, thus affecting the classification accuracy of the model to a certain extent. Therefore, a minimum enclosing quadrate (MEQ) method is proposed to standardize the sample datasets. First, the minimum enclosing rectangle (MER) of the leaf is obtained in the original image, and the target area is clipped. Then, the minimum enclosing quadrate of the leaf is obtained by extending the short side of the rectangle. Finally, the sample is compressed to fit the input requirements of the model. In addition, in order to further improve the classification accuracy of plant-leaf recognition, an EC-ResNet50 model based on transfer-learning strategy is proposed and further combined with the MEQ method. The Swedish leaf, Flavia leaf, and MEW2012 leaf datasets are used to test the performance of the proposed methods, respectively. The experimental results show that using the MEQ method to standardize datasets can significantly improve the classification accuracy of neural networks. The Grad-CAM visual analysis reveals that the convolutional neural network exhibits a higher degree of attention towards the leaf surface features and utilizes more comprehensive feature regions during recognition of the leaf samples processed by MEQ method. In addition, the proposed MEQ + EC-ResNet50 method also achieved the best classification results among all the compared methods. This experiment provides a widely applicable sample standardization method for leaf recognition research, which can avoid the problem of sample deformation caused by compression processing and reduce the interference of redundant information in the image to the classification results to a certain degree. In this paper, we study the spectral properties of a class of degenerate third-order partial differential operators with variable coefficients presented in a rectangle. Conditions are found to ensure the existence and compactness of the inverse operator. A theorem on estimates of approximation numbers is proven. Here, we note that finding estimates of approximation numbers, as well as extremal subspaces, for a set of solutions to the equation is a task that is certainly important from both a theoretical and a practical point of view. The paper also obtained an upper bound for the eigenvalues. Inequalities involving fractional operators have been an active area of research, which is crucial in establishing bounds, estimates, and stability conditions for solutions to fractional integrals. In this paper, we initially presented a new class that is known as coordinated left and right ℏ -pre-invex interval-valued mappings ( C · L · R - ℏ -pre-invex Ι · V - M ), as well classical convex and nonconvex are also obtained. This newly defined class enabled us to derive novel inequalities, such as Hermite–Hadamard and Pachpatte's type inequalities. Furthermore, the obtained results allowed us to recapture several special cases of known results for different parameter choices, which can be applications of the main results. In this paper, two-dimensional (2D) heat equations on disjoint rectangles are considered. The solutions are connected by interface Robin's-type internal conditions. The problem has external Dirichlet boundary conditions that, in the forward (direct) formulation, are given functions. In the inverse problem formulation, the Dirichlet conditions are unknown functions, and the aim is to be reconstructed upon integral observations. Well-posedness both for direct and inverse problems is established. Using the given 2D integrals of the unknown solution on each of the domains and the specific interface boundary conditions, we reduce the 2D inverse problem to a forward heat 1D one. The resulting 1D problem is solved using the explicit Saul'yev finite difference method. Numerical test examples are discussed to illustrate the efficiency of the approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We report the results of large-scale molecular dynamics simulations of adsorption nanoparticles on solid surfaces. The particles were modeled as stiff aggregates of spherical segments. Three types of particles were studied: rods, rectangles, and triangles built of the same number of segments. We show how the particle shape affects the adsorption, the structure of the surface layer, and the degree of the removal of particles from the solvent. The systems with different segment–segment and segment–surface interactions and different concentrations of particles were investigated. A logotype is a rectangular region defined by a set of characteristics, which come from the pixel information and region shape, that differ from those of the text. In this paper, a new method for automatic logo detection is proposed and tested using the public Tobacco800 database. Our method outputs a set of regions from an official document with a high probability to contain a logo using a new approach based on the variation of the feature rectangles method available in the literature. Candidate regions were computed using the longest increasing run algorithm over the document blank lines' indices. Those regions were further refined by using a feature-rectangle-expansion method with forward checking, where the rectangle expansion can occur in parallel in each region. Finally, a C4.5 decision tree was trained and tested against a set of 1291 official documents to evaluate its performance. The strategic combination of the three previous steps offers a precision and recall for logo detention of 98.9% and 89.9%, respectively, being also resistant to noise and low-quality documents. We study the problem of perfect tiling in the plane and explore the possibility of tiling a rectangle using integral distinct squares. Assume a set of distinguishable squares (or equivalently a set of distinct natural numbers) is given, and one has to decide whether it can tile the plane or a rectangle or not. Previously, it has been proved that tiling the plane is not feasible using a set of odd numbers or an infinite sequence of natural numbers including exactly two odd numbers. The problem is open for different situations in which the number of odd numbers is arbitrary. During the process of establishing the analytical quaternion ship domain model, the impact of ship traffic conditions and navigator state was not taken into consideration. However, the significance of these factors in the ship domain cannot be ignored. To create a more realistic representation of changes in the ship domain in real navigation environments, this study further considers the influence of ship encounter course, waterway traffic intensity, relative ship velocity, and the navigator state based on the quaternion ship domain model. As a result, a new dynamic quaternion ship domain model is proposed. To assess the changes in the size and shape of the ship domain under various navigation environments, ship domain scaling and shape transformation functions are introduced. Specifically, this study focuses on analyzing the ship traffic near the Lao Tie Shan Waterway, simulating the size and shape changes of the ship domain during the navigation process in this area. The findings indicate that the size of the ship domain dynamically adjusts to the traffic conditions. Additionally, when the navigator state is excellent, the ship domain takes on an irregular diamond shape with the smallest area, whereas when the navigator state is poor, the shape approximates a rectangle with the largest area. Furthermore, the dynamic quaternion ship domain model proposed in this study is compared to the ship domain models put forth by Goodwin, Davis, and co-authors. Accurately estimating the pose of spacecraft is indispensable for space applications. However, such targets are generally non-cooperative, i.e., no markers are mounted on them, and they include no parts for operation. Therefore, the detection and measurement of a non-cooperative target is very challenging. Stereovision sensors are important solutions in the near field. In this paper, a rectangular natural feature recognition and pose measurement method for non-cooperative spacecraft is proposed. Solar panels of spacecraft were selected as detection objects, and their image features were captured via stereo vision. These rectangle features were then reconstructed in 3D Cartesian space through parallelogram fitting on the image planes of two cameras. The vertexes of rectangle features were detected and used to solve the pose of a non-cooperative target. An experimental system was built to validate the effectiveness of the algorithm. The experimental results show that the average position measurement error of the algorithm is about 10 mm and the average attitude measurement error is less than 1°. This paper introduces novel enhancements to the most recent versions of DIRECT-type algorithms, especially when dealing with solutions located at the hyper-rectangle vertices. The BIRECT algorithm encounters difficulties in efficiently sampling points at the boundaries of the feasible region, leading to potential slowdowns in convergence. This issue is particularly pronounced when the optimal solution resides near the boundary. Our research explores diverse approaches, with a primary focus on incorporating a grouping strategy for hyper-rectangles of similar sizes. This categorization into different classes, constrained by a predefined threshold, aims to enhance computational efficiency, particularly involving a substantial number of hyper-rectangles of varying sizes. To further improve the new algorithm's efficiency, we implemented a mechanism to prevent oversampling and mitigate redundancy in sampling at shared vertices within descendant sub-regions. Comparisons with several DIRECT-type algorithms highlight the promising nature of the proposed algorithms as a global optimization solution. The buckling behavior of rectangular thin plates, which are supported at their four corner points with four edges free, is a matter of great concern in the field of plate and shell mechanics. Nevertheless, the complexities arising from the boundary conditions and governing equations present a formidable obstacle to the attainment of analytical solutions for these problems. Despite the availability of various approximate/numerical methods for addressing these challenges, the literature lacks accurate analytic solutions. In this study, we employ the symplectic superposition method, a recently developed method, to effectively analyze the buckling problem of rectangular thin plates analytically. These plates have four supported corners and four free edges. To achieve this, the problem is divided into two sub-problems and solve them separately using variable separation and symplectic eigen expansion, leading to analytical solutions. Finally, we obtain the resolution to the initial issue by superposing the sub-problems. The current solution method can be regarded as a logical, analytical, and rational approach as it begins with the basic governing equation and is systematically derived without assuming the forms of the solutions. To examine various aspect ratios and in-plane load ratios of rectangular thin plates, which are supported at their four corner points with four edges free, we provide numerical examples that demonstrate the buckling loads and typical buckling mode shapes. We propose and demonstrate a high-performance asymmetrical multimode interference splitter on X-cut lithium niobate on insulator (LNOI) with an ultra-compact size of 5.8 μm × (26.4–35.6) μm. A rectangle with a small region is removed from the upper left corner of the multimode interference (MMI) coupler to achieve a variable splitting ratio. Here, we design and characterize MMIs in six different distribution ratios ranging from 50:50 to 95:5 on a 600 nm thick LNOI. Based on the cascade structure, the linear fitting method accurately shows the device loss (~0.1–0.9 dB). Our fabricated devices demonstrate robustness across a 30 nm optical bandwidth (1535–1565 nm). Auxetic structures, renowned for their unique lateral expansion under longitudinal strain, have attracted significant research interest due to their extraordinary mechanical characteristics, such as enhanced toughness and shear resistance. This study provides a systematic exploration of these structures, constructed from rigid rotating square or rectangular unit cells. Incremental alterations were applied to key geometrical parameters, including the angle (θ) between connected units, the side length (a), the side width (b) of the rotating rigid unit, and the overlap distance (t). This resulted in a broad tunable range of negative Poisson's ratio values from −0.43 to −1.78. Through comprehensive three-dimensional finite-element analyses, the intricate relationships between the geometric variables and the resulting bulk Poisson's ratio of the modeled auxetic structure were elucidated. This analysis affirmed the auxetic behavior of all investigated samples, characterized by lateral expansion under tensile force. The study also revealed potential stress concentration points at interconnections between rotating units, which could impact the material's performance under high load conditions. A detailed investigation of various geometrical parameters yielded fifty unique samples, enabling in-depth observation of the impacts of geometric modifications on the overall behavior of the structures. Notably, an increase in the side width significantly enhanced the Poisson's ratio, while an increase in the overlap distance notably reduced it. The greatest observable change in the Poisson's ratio was a remarkable 202.8%, emphasizing the profound influence of geometric parameter manipulation. A cascaded forward propagation–backpropagation neural network model was deployed to determine the Poisson's ratio for auxetic structures, based on the geometric parameters and material properties of the structure. The model's architecture consisted of five layers with varying numbers of neurons. Building outlines are important for emergency response, urban planning, and change analysis and can be quickly extracted from remote sensing images and raster maps using deep learning technology. However, such building outlines often have irregular boundaries, redundant points, inaccurate positions, and unclear turns arising from variations in the image quality, the complexity of the surrounding environment, and the extraction methods used, impeding their direct utility. Therefore, this study proposes a simplification and regularization algorithm for right-angled polygon building outlines with jagged edges. First, the minimum bounding rectangle of the building outlines is established and populated with a square grid based on the smallest visible length principle. Overlay analysis is then applied to the grid and original buildings to extract the turning points of the outlines. Finally, the building orientation is used as a reference axis to sort the turning points and reconstruct the simplified building outlines. Experimentally, the proposed simplification method enhances the morphological characteristics of building outlines, such as parallelism and orthogonality, while considering simplification principles, such as the preservation of the direction, position, area, and shape of the building. Extraction of vectorized building outlines from high-resolution remote sensing images is highly useful for various application fields, such as map creation and urban planning. However, this process is often complicated by external factors, such as trees and shadows, which cause issues, such as excessive node redundancy, jagged lines, and unclear corner points. In this study, a multilevel regularization method was designed for building outlines, including the "overall–local–detail" levels. First, overall regularization was performed by combining the minimum bounding rectangle of the building outline with the Hausdorff distance method. Next, based on the convex hull of the building outline and the distribution characteristics of nodes along the outline, the building outline was divided into multiple line chains and classified for local regularization. Finally, the details of the building outline were processed, with the parallel and perpendicular characteristics enhanced to obtain the final regularization results. The experimental results showed that the proposed method effectively enhances the edge representation accuracy of building outlines and significantly improves the accuracy and regularity of building edges. Secure grasping of objects in complex scenes is the foundation of many tasks. It is important for robots to autonomously determine the optimal grasp based on visual information, which requires reasoning about the stacking relationship of objects and detecting the grasp position. This paper proposes a multi-task secure grasping detection model, which consists of the grasping relationship network (GrRN) and the oriented rectangles detection network CSL-YOLO, which uses circular smooth label (CSL). GrRN uses DETR to solve set prediction problems in object detection, enabling end-to-end detection of grasping relationships. CSL-YOLO uses classification to predict the angle of oriented rectangles, and solves the angle distance problem caused by classification. Experiments on the Visual Manipulate Relationship Dataset (VMRD) and the grasping detection dataset Cornell demonstrate that our method outperforms existing methods and exhibits good applicability on robot platforms. The failure of an embankment causes loss of lives, massive damage to infrastructure and the interruption of basic facilities; it has thus drawn increasing attention from researchers. When compared to other types of embankment disasters, overtopping-related embankment breaches are much more frequent. The study of the breach mechanism of embankments due to overtopping is becoming more and more essential for developing evacuation plans, early warning systems and damage assessment. To recognize the breach activities of embankments, it is necessary to find out discrete breach considerations like breach depth, breach initiation, breach width, etc. In the present study, a total of six tests were performed in a narrow flume using an embankment model. By conducting different experiments, it was observed that embankment breaching may be described in three stages, i.e., initial erosion, headcut erosion and lateral erosion. Furthermore, erosion is a three-dimensional process that occurs during embankment breaching, with the majority of erosion movement being associated with lateral broadening. The rate of headcut migration also has an impact on the widening rate. Furthermore, it depends upon the type of fill material and dam geometry. Also, the observed effect of moisture content on breach widening proved that the rate of widening was strongly influenced by water content. A drop of about 50% in moisture content causes approximately a 20% decrease in time to failure. In the present study, it is observed that breach shape could not be assumed to be regular shape like rectangle or trapezoid, as described in the literature. To address the problems of low productivity and sizeable dispensing positioning errors in manual and semi-automatic dispensing processes in small- and medium-sized electronic enterprises, this study proposes a fully automatic dispensing method based on visual positioning with RJDNEL-type PCBs as the research object. The fully automatic dispensing system is constructed through the construction of a mechanical structure, the selection of optical equipment, and the debugging of the control system. The method is based on optical imaging technology. Firstly, the dispensing area is extracted through image preprocessing; then, the edge is detected by the Sobel operator, and the Hilditch operator optimizes the dispensing sharpness; then, the minimum outer rectangle algorithm is used to calculate the positioning information of the dispensing area by using the relationship between geometric transformations, which provides the database support for the realization of automatic dispensing; finally, the simulated annealing algorithm is adopted to optimize the dispensing path. Through the image acquisition matching experiments and positioning accuracy experimental analysis, it is concluded that the matching success rate is more than 99%, and the image positioning information repeated extraction accuracy error is less than 0.02 mm. Analysis of the total path of dispensing, as well as computing time, was performed as follows: for the complete dispensing process, 20 PCB boards were used; the path optimization of the dispensing path was reduced by 723.4 mm, and the dispensing efficiency was improved by 20% to 30%; after dispensing, the dispensing area measurement was performed on the PCB boards. PCB boards meet the quality requirements of dispensing, and the proposed method for meeting the quality of dispensing at the same time effectively improves the dispensing accuracy and efficiency. The idea of an extension of life for CubeSats is proposed to reduce space debris in a low-earth orbit. In this work, a gripper is designed for geometry-based grasping in berthing tasks. The grasping operation is outlined for square- and rectangle-shaped CubeSats. Equilibrium conditions are formulated to design the fingertips' shape and parameters for grasping CubeSat bodies. A design scheme is proposed to provide the required accuracy. A design concept is developed into a lab prototype by using low-cost 3D printing manufacturing, and a mock-up grasping task that is representative of the berthing operation is evaluated with the lab prototype. Center-mass hanging setup for the prototype and grasped body is used to evaluate the impact of grasping, partially replicating the conditions in space by reducing the effect of gravity on the system. Due to the limitation of space rover onboard computing resources and energy, there is an urgent need for high-quality drive trajectories in complex environments, which can be provided by delicately designed motion optimization methods. The nonconvexity of the collision avoidance constraints poses a significant challenge to the optimization-based motion planning of nonholonomic vehicles, especially in unstructured cluttered environments. In this paper, a novel obstacle decomposition approach, which swiftly decomposes nonconvex obstacles into their constituent convex substructures while concurrently minimizing the proliferation of resultant subobstacles, is proposed. A safe convex corridor construction method is introduced to formulate the collision avoidance constraints. The numerical approximation methods are applied to transfer the resulting continuous motion optimization problem to a nonlinear programming problem (NLP). Accurate measurements of the bubble size distribution (BSD) are crucial for investigating gas–liquid mass transfer mechanisms and describing the characteristics of chemical production. However, measuring the BSD in high-density bubbly flows remains challenging due to limited image algorithms and high data densities. Therefore, an end-to-end BSD detection method in dense bubbly flows based on deep learning is proposed in this paper. The bubble detector locates the positions of dense bubbles utilizing objection detection networks and simultaneously performs ellipse parameter fitting to measure the size of the bubbles. Different You Only Look Once (YOLO) architectures are compared, and YOLOv7 is selected as the backbone network. The complete intersection over union calculation method is modified by the circumferential horizontal rectangle of bubbles, and the loss function is optimized by adding L 2 constraints of ellipse size parameters. The experimental results show that the proposed technique surpasses existing methods in terms of precision, recall, and mean square error, achieving values of 0.9871, 0.8725, and 3.8299, respectively. Electromagnetic vector sensor (EMVS) arrays bring an epochal opportunity for direction finding, as they enable the estimation of two-dimensional direction of arrival (2D-DOA) and polarization characteristics. In this paper, we revisit the 2D-DOA estimation problem in an EMVS rectangle array under multipath propagation. An improved subspace estimator is proposed, which addresses the rank-deficit problem through matrix arrangement, and the 2D-DOA and polarization parameters are estimated via combining the normalized vector cross-product with the least squares method. Our proposed method is suitable for a single snapshot scenario and offers superior accuracy compared to existing methods. The calculation of moments of area is one of the most fundamental aspects of engineering mechanics for calculating the properties of beams or for the determination of invariants in different kind of geometries. While a variety of shapes, such as circles, rectangles, ellipses, or their combinations, can be described symbolically, such symbolic expressions are missing for freeform cross-sections. In particular, periodic B-spline cross-sections are suitable for an alternative beam cross-section, e.g., for the representation of topology optimization results. In this work, therefore, a symbolic description of the moments of area of various parametric representations of such B-splines is computed. The expressions found are then compared with alternative computational methods and checked for validity. The main goal of this paper is the proposal of a key-based steganographic system in which the ratio of capacity and image quality metrics that represents the stego object while reducing the detectability of hidden content was improved. The main contribution of the proposed steganographic system is a new algorithm for selecting stego areas. The area selection algorithm is based on clustering the pixels of the cover object into a predetermined number of clusters. The goal of this selection of areas (clusters) is to group as many homogeneous parts of the image as possible in order to cover these areas with as few rectangular shapes as possible. Since the data on the defined rectangles represent the key of the system, the capacity of the additional secret channel is minimized in this way. On the obtained stego-carriers, an embedding of test random content is performed in order to estimate its detectability. By combining the proposed area selection method with the Minimal Decimal Difference steganographic method, a system was created with an optimal trade-off between detectability of secret content, quality and capacity of the carrier, and the length of the stego-key. Finally, a comparison of the obtained results with relevant adaptive steganographic methods is presented. A novel linear piezo inertia actuator based on the transverse motion principle is proposed. Under the action of the transverse motion of two parallel leaf-springs, the designed piezo inertia actuator can achieve great stroke movements at a fairly high speed. The presented actuator includes a rectangle flexure hinge mechanism (RFHM) with two parallel leaf-springs, a piezo-stack, a base, and a stage. The mechanism construction and operating principle of the piezo inertia actuator are discussed, respectively. To obtain the proper geometry of the RFHM, we have used a commercial finite element program COMSOL. To investigate the output characteristics of the actuator, the relevant experiment tests including loading capacity, voltage characteristic, and frequency characteristic are adopted. The maximum movement speed and the minimum step size are 27.077 mm/s and 32.5 nm, respectively, confirming that the RFHM with two parallel leaf-springs can be used to design a piezo inertia actuator with a high speed and accuracy. Many composite cantilever plate-like structures have found engineering applications in different industries. For attaining a meaningful assessment of the plate vibration characteristics, it is important to have efficient and effective methods for determining the natural frequencies/mode shapes of composite cantilever plates. In this paper, a method formulated on the basis of the Ritz method and a simple first-order shear deformation theory (SFSDT) is presented to analyze the free vibration of thin as well as thick rectangular composite cantilever plates for determining their natural frequencies. In the SFSDT, the total deflection is the sum of two deflection components, namely, bending and through-thickness shear-deformation-induced deflections. The successful application of the Ritz method together with the SFSDT for the free vibration analysis of thick composite plates relies on the selection of two independent sets of characteristic functions for the bending and through-thickness shear-deformation-induced deflections, respectively, to satisfy the requirements for the displacement and force conditions at the fixed edge of the plate. The novelty of the proposed method is that two independent sets of characteristic functions, namely, polynomials and trigonometric functions, which satisfy the displacement and force conditions at the fixed edge have been identified and used in the variational method to construct the eigenvalue problem for extracting the modal characteristics (natural frequencies and mode shapes) of the plate. It has been shown that the uses of the selected characteristic functions can produce excellent natural frequencies for both thin and thick composite cantilever plates. Some existing theoretical and experimental natural frequencies of thin as well as thick composite plates have been used to demonstrate the accuracy of the proposed method in predicting natural frequencies. The significant effects of through-thickness shear deformation on the natural frequencies of composite cantilever plates are studied to show the merit of the present method. Finally, for illustrating the application of the proposed method in free vibration analysis, a novel procedure established on the basis of the sensitivity analysis of natural frequencies is presented to assess the material degradation of composite cantilever plates. The buckle before the lens coating is still typically disassembled manually. The difference between the buckle and the background is small, while that between the buckles is large. This mechanical disassembly can also damage the lens. Therefore, it is important to estimate pose with high accuracy. This paper proposes a buckle pose estimation method based on a generative adversarial network. An edge extraction model is designed based on a segmentation network as the generator. Spatial attention is added to the discriminator to help it better distinguish between generated and real graphs. The generator thus generates delicate external contours and center edge lines with help from the discriminator. The external rectangle and the least square methods are used to determine the center position and deflection angle of the buckle, respectively. The center point and angle accuracies of the test datasets are 99.5% and 99.3%, respectively. The pixel error of the center point distance and the absolute error of the angle to the horizontal line are within 7.36 pixels and 1.98°, respectively. This method achieves the highest center point and angle accuracies compared to Hed, RCF, DexiNed, and PidiNet. It can meet practical requirements and boost the production efficiency of lens coatings. In this paper, we prove the Hermite–Hadamard–Fejér type inequalities for coordinated h 1 , h 2 -convex functions on the rectangle from the plane R 2 . Squirrel cage fans (SCFs) are widely used in a variety of household appliances. Due to the restriction on installation size, the design of high-efficiency SCFs with high flow capacities is an important topic. In this study, we proposed a novel rounded rectangle volute profile (RRVP) for the design of compact high-flow SCFs. At first, we used computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to simulate the aerodynamic performances of three SCFs having the same impeller but different volutes, which were the common logarithmic-spiral volute profile, the cutting volute profile, and the RRVP volute at the maximum flow rate working condition. The CFD simulations indicate that the fan with RRVP volute has the highest flow rate at the maximum flow rate working condition. Then, we proposed a parameterization method for the RRVP with 16 control variables. The multiobjective evolutionary algorithm based on decomposition (MOEA/D) and Kriging model was used to optimize the aerodynamic shape of the compact SCF with an RRVP volute. Twenty-three control variables were used in the multiobjective optimization process, including the optimization of the blade angles and the impeller position. Optimization results show that the maximum volumetric flow rate of the optimal SCF with an RRVP volute increases from 147.1 cubic feet per minute (CFM) to 191.1 CFM, and the fan efficiency also increases from 32.21% to 33.5%, compared with the original SCF with the common logarithmic-spiral volute. Two main factors were found to increase the flow capacity and efficiency of the optimal SCF under strict size constrains. First, the RRVP became smooth and large, which reduced the flow loss and increased the flow cross-section; second, the eccentrically mounted impeller of the optimal fan enlarged the flow section near the outlet of the volute. Remote sensing target recognition has always been an important topic of image analysis, which has significant practical value in computer vision. However, remote sensing targets may be largely occluded by obstacles due to the long acquisition distance, which greatly increases the difficulty of recognition. Shape, as an important feature of a remote sensing target, plays an important role in remote sensing target recognition. In this paper, an occluded shape recognition method based on the local contour strong feature richness (contour pixel richness, contour orientation richness, and contour distance richness) to the walking minimum bounding rectangle (MBR) is proposed for the occluded remote sensing target (FEW). The method first obtains the local contour feature richness by using the walking MBR; it is a simple constant vector, which greatly reduces the cost of feature matching and increases the speed of recognition. In addition, this paper introduces the new concept of strong feature richness and uses the new strategy of constraint reduction to reduce the complex structure of shape features, which also speeds up the recognition speed. Validation on a self-built remote sensing target shape dataset and three general shape datasets demonstrate the sophisticated performance of the proposed method. FEW in this paper has both higher recognition accuracy and extremely fast recognition speed (less than 1 ms), which lays a more powerful theoretical support for the recognition of occluded remote sensing targets. A fast shape recognition method based on regular graphic is proposed in this paper. It is the Interior Distance Ratio to a regular Shape (minimum bounding rectangle (MBR) or minimum circumscribed circle (MCC)) (SIDR). Regular shapes themselves have either axisymmetric or origin symmetry, which gives them regularity. Shape, as a feature of an object, plays a significant role in computer vision and image analysis. The shape descriptor is widely used to compute remarkable features of the visual image, especially in image understanding and analysis. SIDR is a new remarkable feature of the shape, which is the distribution of the interior distance between the shape contour points and its minimum bounding rectangle or minimum circumscribed circle. It can provide more effective performance support for practical application fields of computer vision, such as object detection and recognition. The minimum bounding rectangle or minimum circumscribed circle can change according to the change in a shape's position, scale and direction, which is extremely suitable for describing a shape that has deformation. In addition, the rectangularity and circularity derived from them also have the potential peculiarity to describe the shape feature. Therefore, this paper uses the interior distance ratio of the shape to represent the shape feature. First, the minimum bounding rectangle or minimum circumscribed circle of the shape is selected according to the rectangularity and circularity of the shape. Then, the interior distance proportional distribution from the shape contour point to the minimum bounding rectangle or minimum circumscribed circle is obtained. Finally, a histogram is used to represent the distribution feature, and shape matching and recognition are carried out. A self-built dataset and three international generic datasets are used to verify the validity of the method. The performance exhibits the sophisticated property (accuracy and matching speed) of the proposed method. It is worth mentioning that this simple method has a recognition rate of close to 100% on the self-built dataset and has achieved excellent results for other datasets compared with some international state-of-the-art methods. A Boussinesq-type wave model is developed in this paper to simulate the interaction of coastal waves with bottom-mounted porous structures. The governing equations are rewritten in the conservative form to facilitate the use of hybrid finite volume (FV) and finite difference (FD) method. Higher-order slope terms are also inserted into the equations to account for rapidly varying bathymetry. The convective flux is approximated using the FV method, while the remaining terms are discretized using the FD method in a uniform rectangle grid system. The time integration is implemented using the third order Runge–Kutta method with an adaptive time step. A single GPU parallel computation is also implemented to save computation costs. The numerical model is validated against a series of experimental datasets, including data acquired in a new laboratory experiment. The predictions are in overall agreement with the measurements, proving that the model is capable of handling wave interaction with porous structures in the coastal region for a wide range of scenarios. This paper proposes a non-contact, online, rapid, and non-destructive measurement method of Pinus densiflora S.et Z. (Pinus densiflora) dimension lumber based on an algorithm of maximizing lumber recovery by minimizing the enclosure rectangle fitting area. The method takes the full influence of multiple factors, such as the difficulty in measuring large-size dimension lumber, conveying deflection, etc. into account. Image splicing, object and background segmentation, and lumber size measurements are carried out. Compared to other current algorithms, it can decrease the measurement errors and improve measurement efficiency. The problems of slow image segmentation, large-size lumber measurement, and conveying deflection are solved. Through measurement tests and error analysis, the measurement accuracy of the lumber size can reach 0.8 mm/m. Problems such as low light, similar background colors, and noisy image acquisition often occur when collecting images of lunar surface obstacles. Given these problems, this study focuses on the AD-Census algorithm. In the original Census algorithm, in the bit string calculated with the central pixel point, the bit string will be affected by the noise that the central point is subjected to. The effect of noise results in errors and mismatching. We introduce an improved algorithm to calculate the average window pixel for solving the problem of being susceptible to the central pixel value and improve the accuracy of the algorithm. Experiments have proven that the object contour in the grayscale map of disparity obtained by the improved algorithm is more apparent, and the edge part of the image is significantly improved, which is more in line with the real scene. In addition, because the traditional Census algorithm matches the window size in a fixed rectangle, it is difficult to obtain a suitable window in the image range of different textures, affecting the timeliness of the algorithm. An improvement idea of area growth adaptive window matching is proposed. The improved Census algorithm is applied to the AD-Census algorithm. The results show that the improved AD-Census algorithm has been shown to have an average run time of 5.3% and better matching compared to the traditional AD-Census algorithm for all tested image sets. Finally, the improved algorithm is applied to the simulation environment, and the experimental results show that the obstacles in the image can be effectively detected. The improved algorithm has important practical application value and is important to improve the feasibility and reliability of obstacle detection in lunar exploration projects. This article aims at analytically solving the free vibration problem of rectangular thin plates with one corner free and its opposite two adjacent edges rotationally-restrained, which is difficult to handle by conventional semi-inverse approaches such as the Levy solution and Naiver solution, etc. Based on the classical Fourier series theory, this work presents a first endeavor to treat the two-dimensional half-sinusoidal Fourier series, which is quite similar to the Navier's form solution, as the solution form of plate deflection. By utilizing the orthogonality of the present trial function and the Stoke's transformation technique, the present solution procedure converts the complicated plate problem into solving sets of linear algebra equations, which heavily decreases the difficulties. Therefore, the present approach enables one to solve the title problem in a unified, simple and straightforward way, which is very easily implemented by researchers. Another advantage of the present method over other analytical approaches is that it has general applicability to various boundary conditions through utilizing different types of Fourier series and it can be extended for further dynamic/static analysis of plates under different shear deformation theories. Moreover, without any extra derivation processes, new, precise analytical free vibration solutions for plates under three non-Levy-type boundary conditions are also obtained by choosing different rotating fixed coefficients. The design and performance of a high-efficiency broadband and polarization-independent reflective grating is reported. The physical mechanism of the gratings can be described by the modal method. By using rigorous coupled wave analysis (RCWA) and simulated annealing (SA) algorithms, the parameters of grating were optimized. The calculated diffraction efficiencies of −1st order for TE and TM polarizations in Littrow mounting exceeded 95%, from 988 nm to 1122 nm, and by over 98% in the bandwidth ranging from 1015 nm to 1085 nm, with the value of polarization-dependent loss (PDL) lower than 0.06 dB. Moreover, the electric field distribution of the grating was simulated by the finite element method (FEM), which demonstrated that most of the energy of the incident light was diffracted to the −1st order and the electric field was distributed almost outside the grating. In addition, the great fabrication tolerances and incident angle tolerance ensured high performance of the designed grating in manufacture and application. With its properties of high efficiency, broadband, and polarization-independence, the designed grating should be of great interest for lots of practical applications, including chirped pulse amplification (CPA), interferometers, and spectrometers. Space-based wide-field surveillance systems are of great significance in maintaining the security of space resources by avoiding collisions between space targets. However, their performance is hindered by stray light phenomena. The nonuniform background noise caused by stray light significantly hampers subsequent target detection, leading to a high frequency of false alarms. To solve this problem, we propose a robust and accurate nonuniform background elimination method based on image block self-adaptive gray-scale morphology (IBSGM). First, we define two kinds of structural operators with different sizes and domains, which make full use of the difference between the target pixels and surrounding background pixels. Then, we block the original surveillance image and find the size of the largest target in each block by the minimum bounding rectangle method to determine the optimal size of the structural operator suitable for each block. Finally, we perform morphological processing using the defined structural operators to eliminate nonuniform backgrounds from images. Experimental results on simulated and real image datasets demonstrate that the proposed IBSGM method has higher precision in eliminating the nonuniform background when compared to other methods. An effective free vibration optimization procedure in combination with the isogeometric approach (IGA), particle swarm optimization (PSO) and an integrated global and local parameterization is presented. The natural frequency of functionally graded (FG) plates is calculated by the IGA based on the Bézier extraction of non-uniform rational B-splines (NURBS) with the cubic NURBS basis function. The material composition is assumed to vary only in the thickness direction, and the volumetric fraction is described by the NURBS basis function in light of the superior properties of NURBS curves. The volume fractions of the control points are then optimized by the PSO. In most of the previous work, the control points for the volume fraction are usually equally spaced, which is incapable of identifying the optimal location of the graded zones in most cases. To overcome this bottleneck, a novel local refinement strategy is proposed. The reliability and effectiveness of the proposed approach are demonstrated through several numerical examples. Configuration-dependent spectral behavior of initially curved circular microplates loaded by a distributed nonlinear electrostatic force is investigated. The structures under consideration are distinguished by two interesting features. The first is that the plates are initially bell-shaped, rather than flat or spherical, and therefore have regions of both positive and negative curvature. Second, the plates are sufficiently curved to exhibit snap-through buckling and bistability. The structure is described in the framework of the nonlinear Föppl von Kármán shallow plate theory. The influence of the initial curvature and loading on the free vibrations around unloaded and deformed equilibria is investigated. The results of the Galerkin model backed by the finite elements analysis show that the modes of even slightly curved bell-shaped unloaded plates differ significantly from those of the initially flat plates. As a result, when the natural modes of a curved plate are used as the base functions, a significantly better convergence of the RO model is achieved. In the vicinity of the critical snap-through and snap-back configurations, the sensitivity of the natural frequencies to the plate deflection is much higher than in the unloaded state. The low accuracy of detection algorithms is one impediment in detecting ceramic tile's surface defects online utilizing intelligent detection instead of human inspection. The purpose of this paper is to present a CNFA for resolving the obstacle. Firstly, a negative sample set is generated online by non-defective images of ceramic tiles, and a comparator based on a modified VGG16 extracts a reference image from it. Disguised rectangle boxes, including defective and non-defective, are acquired from the image to be inspected by a detector. A reference rectangle box most similar to the disguised rectangle box is extracted from the reference image. A discriminator is constituted with a modified MobileNetV3 network serving as the backbone and a metric learning loss function strengthening feature recognition, distinguishing the true and false of disguised and reference rectangle boxes. Results exhibit that the discriminator appears to have an accuracy of 98.02%, 13% more than other algorithms. Furthermore, the CNFA performs an average accuracy of 98.19%, and the consumption time of a single image extends by only 64.35 ms, which has little influence on production efficiency. Stress intensity factor (SIF) is one of three important parameters in classical linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM). The evaluation of SIFs is of great significance in the field of engineering structural and material damage assessment, such as aerospace engineering and automobile industry, etc. In this paper, the SIFs of a central straight crack plate, a slanted single-edge cracked plate under end shearing, the offset double-edge cracks rectangular plate, a branched crack in an infinite plate and a crucifix crack in a square plate under bi-axial tension are extracted by using the p-version finite element method (P-FEM) and contour integral method (CIM). The above single- and multiple-crack problems were investigated, numerical results were compared and analyzed with results using other numerical methods in the literature such as the numerical manifold method (NMM), improved approach using the finite element method, particular weight function method and exponential matrix method (EMM). In this paper, we define fractal bases and fractal frames of L²(I x J), where I and J are real compact intervals, in order to approximate two-dimensional square-integrable maps whose domain is a rectangle, using the identification of L²(I x J) with the tensor product space L²(I) ⊗ L²(J). First, we recall the procedure of constructing a fractal perturbation of a continuous or integrable function. Then, we define fractal frames and bases of L²(I x J) composed of product of such fractal functions. We also obtain weaker families as Bessel, Riesz and Schauder sequences for the same space. Solar tracking is an efficient strategy to increase the radiative capture of photovoltaic collectors. Within the multiple efforts made in recent decades to improve the production of these facilities, various works have studied solutions to optimize the number of rotation axes (single or dual rotation axes), the degree of collector coverage, the distances between trackers, the geometric arrangement of trackers or the minimization of shading between collectors. However, although in this type of installation it is common to find collectors with geometric shapes other than rectangles, no studies on the influence of the shape of the collectors on the radiative incidence are found in the literature. In this connection, the present work systematically addresses the study of incident solar radiation in photovoltaic installations with dual-axis trackers with collectors of different geometric shapes. By means of the exhaustive study, the conclusion is drawn that, for dual-axis photovoltaic installations with an optimal tracking strategy, the main variables that influence the annual radiative incidence are the spacing between collectors, the coverage ratio (GCR), and the collector surface, while the type of arrangement of collectors and the shape of these do not show predictive values. The primary function of noise barriers is to shield inhabitants of affected areas from excessive noise generated by road traffic. To enhance the performance of noise barriers while simultaneously adhering to height restrictions, the attachment of structures (caps) of different shapes to the tops of conventional screens can be considered. These caps can significantly impact the diffracted sound energy, thereby increasing the desired global acoustic losses. This work presents a comprehensive study of the acoustic performance of noise barriers with single and double attached caps of different shapes through a calculation of their insertion losses (IL). This study comprehensively addresses and compares different types, sizes, combinations, and numbers of noise barrier caps for different scenarios (including sloping and absorbent grounds) and sources ("car" and "ambulance") for an extended frequency band up to 10 kHz. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is a range that has not previously been analyzed. A variety of different cap shapes were considered including cylinders, rectangles, trapezoids, and Y/T-shaped forms. To calculate the IL, an innovative and fast uniform theory of diffraction (UTD)-based method developed by the authors was applied in all simulations. The results showed that the Y-shaped single and double barrier caps were, in general, the most effective at increasing IL without raising the height of the barrier, thereby successfully managing the aesthetic impact. An algorithm for measurement of the cutting blade of the ultrasonic vibration cutting machine used in an automation machine is proposed in this paper. The proposed algorithm, which is based upon a multi-step detection method, is developed for the accurate measurement of the cutting blade by exactly determining its rotation angle, length, and thickness. Instead of the commonly used Otsu method, we propose a new curvature-based adaptive binarization method, which provides more accurate details about the dimensions of the cutting blade. A region of interest containing the cutting blade from the acquired image is first extracted in the multi-step detection method, which is further processed to remove the noise, which increases the measurement reliability. An important feature of the proposed process is the restoration of the cutting blade's tip data, which used to be lost during the fine noise-filtering process. The rotation angle and length are measured using the minimum rotated rectangle while the line fitting based upon the least square method is applied to increase the reliability of the thickness measurement. Two challenges exist for modeling gas transport in shale. One is the existence of complex gas transport mechanisms, and the other is the impact of hydraulic fracture networks. In this study, a truly three dimensional semianalytical model was developed for shale gas reservoirs with hydraulic fractures of various shapes. Using the instantaneous point source solution, the pressure are solved for a bounded reservoir with fully 3D, partially penetrated hydraulic fractures of different strike angles and dip angles. The fractures could have various shapes such as rectangles, disks and ellipses. The shale gas diffusion equations considers complex transport mechanism such as gas slippage and gas diffusion. This semianalytical model is verified with a commercial software and an analytical method for single fully penetrated rectangle fracture, and the production results of shale gas are consistent. The impacts of fracture height and strike angles are investigated by five systematically constructed models. The comparison shows that the production increases proportionally with the fracture height, and decreases with the increase of strike angles. The method proposed in this study could also be applied in well testing to analyze the reservoir properties and used to forecast the production for tight oil and conventional resources. Recent years have seen significant advances in the study of symmetric informationally complete (SIC) quantum measurements, also known as maximal sets of complex equiangular lines. Previously, the published record contained solutions up to dimension 67, and was with high confidence complete up through dimension 50. Computer calculations have now furnished solutions in all dimensions up to 151, and in several cases beyond that, as large as dimension 844. These new solutions exhibit an additional type of symmetry beyond the basic definition of a SIC, and so verify a conjecture of Zauner in many new cases. The solutions in dimensions 68 through 121 were obtained by Andrew Scott, and his catalogue of distinct solutions is, with high confidence, complete up to dimension 90. Additional results in dimensions 122 through 151 were calculated by the authors using Scott's code. We recap the history of the problem, outline how the numerical searches were done, and pose some conjectures on how the search technique could be improved.
