Anemia is a global health problem that affects both adults and children, but treatment is hampered by serious side effects, primarily associated with the gastrointestinal tract with oral administration of drugs. In this study, we aimed to develop an oral form of iron compounds using polymethylsilsesquioxane hydrogels. To boost loading efficiency and prolong release, the iron compounds (FeCl3 and ferrous D-Gluconate) are incorporated into a guest–host complex with 2-hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin. We used PRXD, SEM, EDX mapping, and FTIR to investigate the complex formation, as well as the incorporation of such complexes into hydrogels. The optimal system underlines a combination of ferrous D-Gluconate and HPCD in a 1:1 molar ratio, embedded into a hydrogel with a modest quantity of silicate crosslinks. This research deals with the synthesis of copoly(methylvinyl)(dimethyl)siloxanes by the copolycondensation of dimethyldiethoxy- and methylvinyldimethoxysilane in an active medium, followed by thermal condensation in a vacuum. We achieved a range of copolymers exhibiting finely tuned molecular weights spanning between 1500 and 20,000 with regulated functional methylvinylsiloxane units. Analysis of the microstructure showed that the copolymerization predominantly formed products demonstrating a random distribution of units (R~1). However, an increase in the content of vinyl-containing monomers increases the R parameter, indicating an enhanced tendency towards alternating linkages within the copolymer matrix. Aerogels are a class of materials that have gained increasing attention over the past several decades due to their exceptional physical and chemical properties. These materials are highly porous, with a low density and high surface area, allowing for applications such as insulation, catalysis, and energy storage. However, traditional aerogels, such as pure silica aerogels, suffer from brittleness and fragility, which limit their usefulness in many applications. Herein, we have addressed this problem by using organosilicon compounds, namely polymethylsilsesquioxane derivatives, for the synthesis of aerogel-like materials. Specifically, we have developed a novel approach involving surfactant-free synthesis of microcapsules from partially PEGylated hyperbranched polymethylethoxysiloxane. Due to the highly diphilic nature of these compounds, they readily concentrate at the oil/water interface in aqueous emulsions encapsulating oil droplets. During the subsequent condensation, the organosilicon precursor is consumed for hexane encapsulation (yielding hollow microcapsules) followed by the formation of a continuous condensed phase. Concurrently, methyl groups ensure the hydrophobicity of the resulting materials, which eliminates the need of using additional reagents for their hydrophobization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A number of thioether-containing zirconium siloxanes, differing in their composition and metal atom shielding degree with a siloxy substituent, were synthesized and characterized. Synthesis of such compounds made it possible to evaluate the effect of sulfur atoms' presence in the cured compositions on their dielectric properties, as well as to evaluate their curing ability and influence on mechanical characteristics compared to the sulfur-free analogs obtained earlier. Studying a wide range of compositions differing in their content and ratio of metallosiloxane and silica components revealed that such systems are still typical dielectrics. At the same time, the introduction of thioether groups can provide increased dielectric constant and conductivity in comparison with previously obtained sulfur-free similar compositions in the <102 Hz frequency range (dielectric constant up to ~10–30 at frequency range 1–10 Hz). As before, the dielectric parameters increase is directly determined by the silica component proportion in the cured material. It is also shown that varying sulfur-containing zirconium siloxanes structure and functionality and its combination with previously obtained sulfur–free analogs, along with varying the functionality and rubber chain length, can be an effective tool for changing the dielectric and mechanical material parameters in a wide range (tensile strength 0.5–7 Mpa, elastic deformation 2–300%), which determine the prospects for the use of such cured systems as dielectric elastomers for various purposes. This paper presents the results of studies on the pervaporation properties (for benzene/hexane mixtures) and gas permeability (for He, H2, N2, O2, CO2, CH4, C2H6, and C4H10) of ladder-like polyphenylsesquioxanes (L-PPSQ) with improved physical and chemical properties. These polymers were obtained by condensation of cis-tetraphenylcyclotetrasiloxanetetraol in ammonia medium. The structure of L-PPSQ was fully confirmed by a combination of physicochemical analysis methods: 1H, 29Si NMR, IR spectroscopy, HPLC, powder XRD, and viscometry in solution. For the first time, a high molecular weight of the polymer (Mn = 238 kDa, Mw = 540 kDa) was achieved, which determines its improved mechanical properties and high potential for use in membrane separation. Using TGA and mechanical analysis methods, it was found that this polymer has high thermal (Td5% = 537 °C) and thermal-oxidative stability (Td5% = 587 °C) and good mechanical properties (Young's module (E) = 1700 MPa, ultimate tensile stress (σ) = 44 MPa, elongation at break (ε) = 6%), which is important for making membranes workable under various conditions. Silica hollow spheres with a diameter of 100–300 nm and a shell thickness of 8 ± 2 nm were synthesized using a self-templating amphiphilic polymeric precursor, i.e., poly(ethylene glycol)-substituted hyperbranched polyethoxysiloxane. Their elastic properties were addressed with a high-frequency AFM indentation method based on the PeakForce QNM (quantitative nanomechanical mapping) mode enabling simultaneous visualization of the surface morphology and high-resolution mapping of the mechanical properties. The factors affecting the accuracy of the mechanical measurements such as a local slope of the particle surface, deformation of the silica hollow particles by a solid substrate, shell thickness variation, and applied force range were analysed. The Young's modulus of the shell material was evaluated as E = 26 ± 7 GPa independent of the applied force in the elastic regime of deformations. Beyond the elastic regime, the buckling instability was observed revealing a non-linear force–deformation response with a hysteresis between the loading and unloading force–distance curves and irreversible deformation of the shell at high applied forces. Thus, it was demonstrated that PeakForce QNM mode can be used for quantitative measurements of the elastic properties of submicon-sized silica hollow particles with nano-size shell thickness, as well as for estimation of the buckling behaviour beyond the elastic regime of shell deformations. New hybrid materials based on Ag nanoparticles stabilized by a polyaminopropylalkoxysiloxane hyperbranched polymer matrix were prepared. The Ag nanoparticles were synthesized in 2-propanol by metal vapor synthesis (MVS) and incorporated into the polymer matrix using metal-containing organosol. MVS is based on the interaction of extremely reactive atomic metals formed by evaporation in high vacuum (10−4–10−5 Torr) with organic substances during their co-condensation on the cooled walls of a reaction vessel. Polyaminopropylsiloxanes with hyperbranched molecular architectures were obtained in the process of heterofunctional polycondensation of the corresponding AB2-type monosodiumoxoorganodialkoxysilanes derived from the commercially available aminopropyltrialkoxysilanes. The nanocomposites were characterized using transmission (TEM) and scanning (SEM) electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). TEM images show that Ag nanoparticles stabilized in the polymer matrix have an average size of 5.3 nm. In the Ag-containing composite, the metal nanoparticles have a "core-shell" structure, in which the "core" and "shell" represent the M0 and Mδ+ states, respectively. Nanocomposites based on silver nanoparticles stabilized with amine-containing polyorganosiloxane polymers showed antimicrobial activity against Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli. Previously, we reported the synthesis of carbosilane and carbosilane-siloxane dendrons of various generations based limonene, a natural terpene. Limonene that contains two double bonds, namely cyclohexene and isoprenyl ones, was shown to undergo regioselective hydrosilylation exclusively at its isoprenyl double bond. This finding was used to prepare carbosilane dendrons (CDs) with a limonene moiety at the focal point. In this study, we present variants for the functionalization of the cyclohexene double bond by an epoxidation reaction in order to use the resulting dendrons for the preparation of various macromolecular objects, including Janus dendrimers (JDs), dendronized polymers, and macroinitiators. Moreover, it was shown that dendrons with peripheral azide functions could be obtained. The catalyst-free hydrolytic polycondensation of methyltrimethoxysilane under microwave radiation has been studied. The effect of molar ratios of the reagents (MTMS/H2O = 1/0.5–1/9), radiation power (20–300 W), temperature (30–50 °C) and duration of exposure (2.5–90 min) on the course of the process is considered. It has been shown that the use of microwave radiation promotes the activation of the process, and almost complete conversion of the monomer can be achieved in 5 min at 30 °C, 20 W and an MTMS/H2O ratio of 1/3. The optimal radiation power for the maximum conversion of the monomer and MeO-groups is in the range from 20 to 100 W. An increase in the water amount, the duration and temperature of the process contribute to an increase in the monomer conversion, a decrease in the content of residual MeO-groups and the yield of non-volatile oligomethylsilsesquioxanes. The limits of this approach using to the synthesis of multifunctional branched polyorganosilsesquioxanes are determined. Depending on the process conditions, homogeneous water–alcohol solutions of oligomethylsilsesquioxane with a concentration of 20 to 50 wt.% can be obtained. Poly(dimethyl siloxane)-MQ rubber molecular composites are easy to prepare, as it does not require a heterophase mixing of ingredients. They are characterized by perfect homogeneity, so they are very promising as rubber materials with controllable functional characteristics. The manuscript reveals that MQ resin particles can significantly, more than by two orders of magnitude, enhance the mechanical properties of poly(dimethyl siloxane), and, as fillers, they are not inferior to aerosils. In the produced materials, MQ particles play a role of the molecular entanglements, so rubber molecular weight and MQ filler concentration are the parameters determining the structure and properties of such composites. Moreover, a need for a saturation of the reactive groups and minimization of the surface energy of MQ particles also determine the size and distribution of the filler at different filler rates. An unusual correlation of the concentration of MQ component and the interparticle spacing was revealed. Based on the extraordinary mechanical properties and structure features, a model of the structure poly(dimethyl siloxane)-rubber molecular composites and of its evolution in the process of stretching, was proposed. The controllable synthesis of novel hybrid dendrimers composed of flexible and rigid components was accomplished via effective Cu-catalyzed azide–alkyne cycloaddition ("click") reaction between azide-functionalized carbosilane cores of two generations and monoethynyl-substituted hexaphenylbenzene dendron. A comprehensive analysis of the thermal and phase behavior of dendrimers allows us to detect a similar performance of dendrimers of both generations which, in our opinion, can be due to the similar ratio of rigid and flexible blocks in the dendrimers regardless the generation of carbosilane cores. The propensity to crystallization and ordering after the annealing procedure was confirmed by DSC and SWAXS. We found that hybrid dendrimers have a tendency to order depending on their constituents of different structures. Compounds sensitive to reactive oxygen species are widely used in the study of processes in living cells and in the development of therapeutic agents for photodynamic therapy. In the present work, we have synthesized a dyad in which the BODIPY dye is chemically bound to 9,10-diphenylanthracene (DPA). Here, DPA acts as a specific sensor of singlet oxygen and BODIPY as a reference dye. We studied the photophysical properties of the BODIPY-DPA dyad and showed that energy transfer occurs between the chromophores. As a result, the compound has excitation maxima in the absorption region of both DPA and BODIPY, but the fluorescence emission occurs mainly from BODIPY. In the presence of singlet oxygen, the excitation maximum of DPA decreases, while the intensity of the excitation maximum of BODIPY remains almost unchanged. The main known patterns of thermal and/or catalytic destruction of high-molecular-weight organosilicon compounds are considered from the viewpoint of the prospects for processing their wastes. The advantages of using supercritical fluids in plastic recycling are outlined. They are related to a high diffusion rate, efficient extraction of degradation products, the dependence of solvent properties on pressure and temperature, etc. A promising area for further research is described concerning the application of supercritical fluids for processing the wastes of organosilicon macromolecular compounds. A method for the preparation of polydimethylsiloxanes with grafted methoxy-substituted dibenzoylmethanatoboron difluoride has been described. The structures of prepared polymers were confirmed using NMR, IR spectroscopy and gel permeation chromatography methods. Their thermal properties were investigated using thermal gravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry and thermomechanical analysis. The prepared polymers had good thermal (Td5% up to 393 °C) and thermo-oxidative (Td5% = 413 °C) stability. The polymers started to transit in a viscous flow state at about 40 °C (for 3 a) and at about 20 °C (for 3 b). The viscoelastic characteristics of prepared polymers were determined in the sinusoidal oscillating vibrations mode. It was shown that the studied polymers at low frequencies at room temperature are viscoelastic fluids (G′ < G″). Increasing the frequency led to inversion (crossover) of dependences G′ and G″, which indicated the transition of polymers from viscous to elastomeric behavior characteristics, and the beginning of the formation of a physical network. Optical properties were studied using electron absorption, steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy. It was shown that intramolecular H-dimers exist in the ground state. The polymers studied had a bright fluorescence in the solution and in the solid state, consisting of bands of monomer and excimer emission. Thermally-activated delayed fluorescence was observed in the solution and the solid state. The mini-review deals with borosiloxanes as a class of organoelement compounds that comprise Si-O-B bonds, including individual compounds and polymeric structures. The borosiloxanes first synthesized in the 1950s using simple methods demonstrated very unusual properties but were hydrolytically unstable. However, in recent times, synthetic methods have changed significantly, which made it possible to synthesize borosiloxanes that are resistant to external factors, including atmospheric moisture. Borosiloxanes became important due to their unique properties. For example, borosiloxane liquids acquire a thixotropic behavior due to donor-acceptor interchain interactions. In addition, borosiloxanes are used to produce flame-retardant ceramics. An analysis of the literature sources shows that no review has yet been completed on the topic of borosiloxanes. Therefore, we decided that even a brief outlook of this area would be useful for researchers in this and related fields. Thus, the review shows the evolution of the synthesis methods and covers the studies on the properties of these unique molecules, the latest achievements in this field, and the prospects for their application. In this work, carbosilane dendrons of the first, second, and third generations were obtained on the basis of a natural terpenoid, limonene. Previously, we have shown the possibility of selective hydrosilylation and hydrothiolation of limonene. It is proved that during hydrosilylation, only the isoprenyl double bond reacts, while the cyclohexene double bond does not undergo into the hydrosilylation reaction. However, the cyclohexene double bond reacts by hydrothiolation. This selectivity makes it possible to use limonene as a dendron growth center, while maintaining a useful function—a double bond at the focal point. Thus, the sequence of hydrosilylation and Grignard reactions based on limonene formed carbosilane dendrons. After that, the end groups were blocked by heptamethyltrisiloxane or butyllithium. The obtained substances were characterized using NMR spectroscopy, elemental analysis and GPC. Thus, the proposed methodology for the synthesis of carbosilane dendrons based on the natural terpenoid limonene opens up wide possibilities for obtaining various macromolecules: dendrimers, Janus dendrimers, dendronized polymers, and macroinitiators. This review presents the main achievements in the use of the thiol-ene reaction in the chemistry of silicones. Works are considered, starting from monomers and ending with materials.The main advantages and disadvantages of this reaction are demonstrated using various examples. Composite materials are the most variative type of materials employed in almost every task imaginable. In the present study, a synthesis of a novel perfluoroalkyltriethoxysilane is reported to be used in creating composites with polyhexafluoropropylene—one of the most indifferent and adhesion-lacking polymers existing. The mechanism of adhesion of hexafluoropropylene is proved to be due to chemical structural coherence of perfluoroalkyltriethoxysilane to a link of polyhexafluoropropylene chain. The ability of perfluoroalkyltriethoxysilane to attach to surfaces was studied by FT-IR spectroscopy of modified glass microspheres. Although the perfluoroalkyltriethoxysilane surface modifier allowed partial adhesion of polyhexafluoropropylene, some detachment took place; therefore, the surface nanostructuring was used to increase its specific area by aluminum foil anodizing. An anodized aluminum surface was studied by scanning electron microscopy. The resulting composite consisting of anodized aluminum, perfluoroalkyl surface modifier, and polyhexafluoropropylene layer was proved to be stable, showed no signs of detachment, and is a promising material for usage in harsh environments. Nowadays, luminescent materials attract wide attention due to their valuable characteristics and broad area of potential application. Luminescent silicone-based polymers possess unique properties, such as flexibility, hydrophobicity, thermal and chemical stabilities, etc., which allow them to be utilized in various fields, such as optoelectronics, solid-state lasers, luminescent solar concentrators, sensors, and others. In the present work, a metal-ligand interaction approach was applied to obtain new cross-linked luminescent polymers based on multiligand polysiloxanes with grafted β-diketone fragments and organoeuropiumsiloxanes containing various organic substituents. Organoeuropiumsiloxanes were utilized as a source of Eu3+ ions due to their compatibility with the silicon matrix. PDMS telechelics are important both in industry and in academic research. They are used both in the free state and as part of copolymers and cross-linked materials. At present, the most important, practically used, and well-studied method for the preparation of such PDMS is diorganosiloxane ring-opening polymerization (ROP) in the presence of nucleophilic or electrophilic initiators. In our brief review, we reviewed the current advances in the field of obtaining polydiorganosiloxane telechelics and monofunctional PDMS, as well as well-organized branching centers by the ROP mechanism and catalytic rearrangement, one of the first and most important reactions in the polymer chemistry of silicones, which remains so at the present time. This review considers the key advantages of using supercritical carbon dioxide as a solvent for systems with organosilicon compounds. Organosilicon polymeric materials synthesis as well as the creation and modification of composites based on them are discussed. In this review, we discuss currently available studies on the synthesis and properties of MQ copolymers. The data on methods of producing hydrolytic and heterofunctional polycondensation of functional organosilanes as well as the obtaining MQ copolymers based on silicic acids and nature silicates are considered. The ratio of M and Q monomers and the production method determine the structure of MQ copolymers and, accordingly, their physicochemical characteristics. It is shown that the most successful synthetic approach is a polycondensation of organoalkoxysilanes in the medium of anhydrous acetic acid, which reduces the differences in reactivity of M and Q monomers and leads to obtaining a product with uniform composition in all fractions, with full absence of residual alkoxy-groups. The current concept of MQ copolymers is that of organo-inorganic hybrid systems with nanosized crosslinked inorganic regions limited by triorganosilyl groups and containing residual hydroxyl groups. New non-crystallizable low-dispersity star-shaped polydimethylsiloxanes (PDMS) containing stereoregular cis-tetra(organo)(dimethylsiloxy)cyclotetrasiloxanes containing methyl-, tolyl- and phenyl-substituents at silicon atoms and the mixture of four stereoisomers of tetra[phenyl(dimethylsiloxy)]cyclotetrasiloxane as the cores were synthesized. Their thermal and viscous properties were studied. This paper reports a method for the synthesis of 1,1,3,3,5,5-hexamethyl-7,7-diorganocyclotetrasiloxanes by the interaction of 1,5-disodiumoxyhexamethylsiloxane with dichlorodiorganosilanes such as methyl-, methylvinyl-, methylphenyl-, diphenyl- and diethyl dichlorosilanes. Depending on the reaction conditions, the preparative yield of the target cyclotetrasiloxanes is 55–75%. Along with mixed cyclotetrasiloxanes, the proposed method leads to the formation of polymers with regular alternation of diorganosylil and dimethylsylil units. For example, in the case of dichlorodiethylsilane, 70% content of linear poly(diethyl)dimethylsiloxanes with regular alternation of units can be achieved in the reaction product. Using 7,7-diethyl-1,1,3,3,5,5-hexamethylcyclotetrasiloxane as an example, the prospects of the mixed cycle in copolymer preparation in comparison with the copolymerization of octamethyl- and octaethylcyclotetrasiloxanes are shown. A versatile equilibrium method for synthesizing ladder-like polyphenylsilsesquioxanes (L-PPSQs) with various molecular weights (from 4 to 500 kDa) in liquid ammonia was developed. The effect of diverse parameters, such as temperature, monomer concentration, reaction time, addition or removal of water from the reaction medium, on the polycondensation process was determined. The molecular weight characteristics and structure of the L-PPSQ elements obtained were determined by GPC, 1H, 29Si NMR, IR spectroscopy, viscometry, and PXRD methods. The molar heat capacity of the first-generation hybrid dendrimer with a "carbosilane core/phenylene shell" structure was measured for the first time in the temperature range T = 6–600 K using a precise adiabatic vacuum calorimeter and DSC. In the above temperature interval, the glass transition of the studied compound was observed, and its thermodynamic characteristics were determined. The standard thermodynamic functions (the enthalpy, the entropy, and the Gibbs energy) of the hybrid dendrimer were calculated over the range from T = 0 to 600 K using the experimentally determined heat capacity. The standard entropy of formation of the investigated dendrimer was evaluated at T = 298.15 K. The obtained thermodynamic properties of the studied hybrid dendrimer were compared and discussed with the literature data for some of the first-generation organosilicon and pyridylphenylene dendrimers. The porous structure of second- and third-generation polyphenylene-type dendrimers was investigated by adsorption of N2, Ar, and CO2 gases, scanning electron microscopy and small-angle X-ray spectroscopy. Rigid dendrimers in bulk are microporous and demonstrate a molecular sieve effect. When using CO2 as an adsorbate gas, the pore size varies from 0.6 to 0.9 nm. This is most likely due to the distances between dendrimer macromolecules or branches of neighboring dendrimers, whose packing is mostly realized due to intermolecular interactions, in particular, π–π interactions of aromatic fragments. Intermolecular interactions prevent the manifestation of the porosity potential inherent to the molecular 3D structure of third-generation dendrimers, while for the second generation, much higher porosity is observed. The maximum specific surface area for the second-generation dendrimers was 467 m2/g when measured by CO2 adsorption, indicating that shorter branches of these dendrimers do not provide dense packing. This implies that the possible universal method to create porous materials for all kinds of rigid dendrimers is by a placement of bulky substituents in their outer layer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Colorless transparent vulcanizates of silicone elastomers were prepared by mixing the components in a common solvent followed by solvent removal. We studied the correlation between the mechanical behavior of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)-rubber compositions prepared using MQ (mono-(M) and tetra-(Q) functional siloxane) copolymers with different ratios of M and Q parts as a molecular filler. New multiarm stars have been synthesized based on polylithium derivatives of high-generation carbosilane dendrimers. In the synthesis of multiarm stars based on the eighth-generation dendrimer, steric hindrances were observed even during the synthesis of a polylithium initiator. Subsequently, this led to chain transfer reactions between growing arms, as well as other side effects. As a result, dense nanogel formations with a higher tendency of ordering than in classical objects of this type were isolated from the reaction mixture. The study of the rheology of multiarm stars based on sixth-generation dendrimers made it possible to determine the activation energies of viscous flow in these objects, which makes it possible to consider them as objects with a macromolecular nature and a reptation flow mechanism. Branched silicones possess interesting properties as oils, including their viscoelastic behavior, or as precursors to controlled networks. However, highly branched silicone polymers are difficult to form reliably using a "grafting to" strategy because functional groups may be bunched together preventing complete conversion for steric reasons. We report the synthesis of vinyl-functional highly branched silicone polymers based, at their core, on the ability to spatially locate functional vinyl groups along a silicone backbone at the desired frequency. Macromonomers were created and then polymerized using the Piers–Rubinsztajn reaction with dialkoxyvinylsilanes and telechelic HSi-silicones; molecular weights of the polymerized macromonomers were controlled by the ratio of the two reagents. The vinyl groups were subjected to iterative (two steps, one pot) hydrosilylation with alkoxysilane and Piers–Rubinsztajn reactions, leading to high molecular weight, highly branched silicones after one or two iterations. A series of carbosilane dendrimers of the 4th, 6th, and 7th generations with a terminal trimethylsilylsiloxane layer was synthesized. Theoretical models of these dendrimers were developed, and equilibrium dendrimer conformations obtained via molecular dynamics simulations were in a good agreement with experimental small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) data demonstrating molecule monodispersity and an almost spherical shape. It was confirmed that the glass transition temperature is independent of the dendrimer generation, but is greatly affected by the chemical nature of the dendrimer terminal groups. A sharp increase in the zero-shear viscosity of dendrimer melts was found between the 5th and the 7th dendrimer generations, which was qualitatively identical to that previously reported for polycarbosilane dendrimers with butyl terminal groups. The viscoelastic properties of high-generation dendrimers seem to follow some general trends with an increase in the generation number, which are determined by the regular branching structure of dendrimers. We studied the conformational behavior of silicon-containing dendrimers during their adsorption onto a flat impenetrable surface by molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Four homologous series of dendrimers from the 4th up to the 7th generations were modeled, namely, two types of carbosilane dendrimers differing by the functionality of the core Si atom and two types of siloxane dendrimers with different lengths of the spacers. Comparative analysis of the fractions of adsorbed atoms belonging to various structural layers within dendrimers as well as density profiles allowed us to elucidate not only some general trends but also the effects determined by dendrimer specificity. In particular, it was found that in contrast to the carbosilane dendrimers interacting with the adsorbing surface mainly by their peripheral layers, the siloxane dendrimers with the longer –O–Si(CH3)2–O spacers expose atoms from their interior to the surface spreading out on it. The structure and properties of nanocomposites based on organosoluble polyimide (PI) and branched functional metallosiloxane oligomers with different types of central metal atoms (Al, Cr, Fe, Zr, Hf and Nb) were investigated. Under the same weight content of the filler, the geometric parameters of the nanoparticles and thermal properties of the nanocomposites did not exhibit a direct relationship with the ability of the materials to withstand the incident flow of oxygen plasma. The atomic oxygenerosion resistance of the filled PI films was influenced by the composition of the hybrid fillerand the type of metal atom in the hybrid filler in the base metallosiloxane oligomer. To determine the effectiveness of the nanoparticles as protective elements of the polymer surface, the nanocomposite erosion yields pertaining to the concentration of the crosslinked organo–inorganic polymer forming the dispersed phase were determined and expressed in mmol per gram PI. The filler concentration in the polymer, expressed in these units, allows for comparison of the efficiency of different nanosize fillers for use in fabricating space survivable coatings. Poly(dimethyl siloxane)-MQ rubber molecular composites are easy to prepare, as it does not require a heterophase mixing of ingredients. They are characterized by perfect homogeneity, so they are very promising as rubber materials with controllable functional characteristics. The manuscript reveals that MQ resin particles can significantly, more than by two orders of magnitude, enhance the mechanical properties of poly(dimethyl siloxane), and, as fillers, they are not inferior to aerosils. In the produced materials, MQ particles play a role of the molecular entanglements, so rubber molecular weight and MQ filler concentration are the parameters determining the structure and properties of such composites. Moreover, a need for a saturation of the reactive groups and minimization of the surface energy of MQ particles also determine the size and distribution of the filler at different filler rates. An unusual correlation of the concentration of MQ component and the interparticle spacing was revealed. This paper reports a method for the synthesis of 1,1,3,3,5,5-hexamethyl-7,7-diorganocyclotetrasiloxanes by the interaction of 1,5-disodiumoxyhexamethylsiloxane with dichlorodiorganosilanes such as methyl-, methylvinyl-, methylphenyl-, diphenyl- and diethyl dichlorosilanes. Depending on the reaction conditions, the preparative yield of the target cyclotetrasiloxanes is 55-75%. Along with mixed cyclotetrasiloxanes, the proposed method leads to the formation of polymers with regular alternation of diorganosylil and dimethylsylil units. For example, in the case of dichlorodiethylsilane, 70% content of linear poly(diethyl)dimethylsiloxanes with regular alternation of units can be achieved in the reaction product. Using 7,7-diethyl-1,1,3,3,5,5-hexamethylcyclotetrasiloxane as an example, the prospects of the mixed cycle in copolymer preparation in comparison with the copolymerization of octamethyl- and octaethylcyclotetrasiloxanes are shown.
