Various vaccines have been developed in response to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, and the safety of vaccines has become an important issue. COVID-19 vaccine-related central nervous system inflammatory demyelinating diseases (CNS IDDs) have been reported recently. We present one case of AstraZeneca vaccine-related myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody-associated disease and a literature review of another 78 patients published from January 2020 to October 2022. Patients were divided into three vaccine types (viral vector, mRNA, and inactivated vaccines) for further analyses. Among 79 patients with COVID-19 vaccine-related CNS IDDs, 49 (62%) cases received viral vector vaccines, 20 (25.3%) received mRNA vaccines, and 10 (12.7%) received inactivated vaccines. Twenty-seven cases (34.2%) were confirmed with autoantibodies, including fifteen patients (19%) with anti-MOG, eleven (13.9%) with anti-aquaporin 4 (AQP4), and one (1.3%) with both antibodies. Significantly, more males developed CNS IDDs post viral vector vaccines compared to mRNA and inactivated vaccines. Patients receiving mRNA vaccines were older than those receiving other types. Furthermore, mRNA and inactivated vaccines correlated more with anti-AQP4 antibodies, while viral vector vaccines showed higher MOG positivity. This research suggests potential associations between COVID-19 vaccine-related CNS IDDs and gender, age, and autoantibodies, contingent on vaccine types. Protein sequence analysis implies similarities between the S protein and AQP4/MOG. Further studies may elucidate the mechanisms of CNS IDDs, aiding vaccine selection for specific types. Exosomal microRNAs (miRNAs) are novel, non-invasive biomarkers for facilitating communication and diagnosing cancer. However, only a few studies have investigated their function and role in the clinical diagnosis of breast cancer. To address this gap, we established a stable cell line, MDA-MB-231-CD63-RFP, and recruited 112 female participants for serum collection. We screened 88 exosomal miRNAs identified through microarray analysis of 231-CD63 and literature screening using real-time PCR; only exosomal miR-92b-5p was significantly increased in patients with breast cancer. It had a significant correlation with stage and discriminated patients from the control with an AUC of 0.787. Exosomal miR-92b-5p impacted the migration, adhesion, and spreading ability of normal human mammary epithelial recipient cells through the downregulation of the actin dynamics regulator MTSS1L. In clinical breast cancer tissue, the expression of MTSS1L was significantly inversely correlated with tissue miR-92b-5p, and high expression of MTSS1L was associated with better 10-year overall survival rates in patients undergoing hormone therapy. In summary, our studies demonstrated that exosomal miR-92b-5p might function as a non-invasive body fluid biomarker for breast cancer detection and provide a novel therapeutic strategy in the axis of miR-92b-5p to MTSS1L for controlling metastasis and improving patient survival. Low-light image enhancement is an important task in computer vision. Deep learning-based low-light image enhancement has made significant progress. But the current methods also face the challenge of relying on a wide variety of low-light/normal-light paired images and amplifying noise while enhancing brightness. Based on existing experimental observation that most luminance information concentrates on amplitudes while noise is closely related to phases, an unsupervised low-light image enhancement method in the Fourier transform domain is proposed. In our method, the low-light image is firstly transformed into the amplitude component and phase component via Fourier transform. The luminance of low-light image is enhanced by CycleGAN in the amplitude domain, and the phase component is denoising. The cycle consistency losses both in the Fourier transform domain and spatial domain are used in training. The proposed method has been validated on publicly available test sets and shows that our method achieves superior results than other approaches in low-light image enhancement and noise suppression. The sesquiterpene alkaloid dendrobine, widely recognized as the main active compound and a quality control standard of medicinal orchids in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, demonstrates diverse biological functions. In this study, we engineered Dendrobium catenatum as a chassis plant for the production of dendrobine through the screening and pyramiding of key biosynthesis genes. Initially, previously predicted upstream key genes in the methyl-D-erythritol 4-phosphate (MEP) pathway for dendrobine synthesis, including 4-(Cytidine 5′-Diphospho)-2-C-Methyl-d-Erythritol Kinase (CMK), 1-Deoxy-d-Xylulose 5-Phosphate Reductoisomerase (DXR), 2-C-Methyl-d-Erythritol 4-Phosphate Cytidylyltransferase (MCT), and Strictosidine Synthase 1 (STR1), and a few downstream post-modification genes, including Cytochrome P450 94C1 (CYP94C1), Branched-Chain-Amino-Acid Aminotransferase 2 (BCAT2), and Methyltransferase-like Protein 23 (METTL23), were chosen due to their deduced roles in enhancing dendrobine production. The seven genes (SG) were then stacked and transiently expressed in the leaves of D. catenatum, resulting in a dendrobine yield that was two-fold higher compared to that of the empty vector control (EV). Further, RNA-seq analysis identified Copper Methylamine Oxidase (CMEAO) as a strong candidate with predicted functions in the post-modification processes of alkaloid biosynthesis. Overexpression of CMEAO increased dendrobine content by two-fold. Additionally, co-expression analysis of the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) by weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) retrieved one regulatory transcription factor gene MYB61. Overexpression of MYB61 increased dendrobine levels by more than two-fold in D. catenatum. In short, this work provides an efficient strategy and prospective candidates for the genetic engineering of D. catenatum to produce dendrobine, thereby improving its medicinal value. Background and Objectives: Treatment for antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis (AAV) must deal with immunosuppression, as well as infections associated with a compromised immune system, such as tuberculosis (TB). Our aim was to examine the risk of incidental TB after diagnosis of AAV. Materials and Methods: This retrospective population-based cohort study was based on the data from the National Health Insurance Research Database in Taiwan. Patients with newly diagnosed granulomatous polyangiitis or microscopic polyangiitis were identified between 1 January 2000 and 31 December 2012. The primary outcome was risk of incidental TB. Cox proportional hazard models were used to evaluate the association between AAV and incidental TB. Results: A total of 2257 patients with AAV and a propensity-score matched cohort of 9028 patients were studied. Overall, patients with AAV were at a 1.48× higher risk of contracting incidental TB than the patients in the matched cohort (adjusted HR 1.48; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.02–2.15). Note that the highest risk of contracting incidental TB was in the first two years following a diagnosis of AAV, with a nearly 1-fold increase in risk (adjusted HR, 1.91; 95% CI, 1.01–3.60). Female AAV patients were 3.24× more likely than females without AAV to develop TB (adjusted HR 3.24; 95% CI, 1.85–5.67). Conclusions: Patients with AAV exhibit a 48% elevated TB risk, notably, a 91% increase within the first two years postdiagnosis. Female AAV patients face a 3.24 times higher TB risk compared to females without AAV. This study is limited by potential misclassification and overestimation of AAV cases. Feldspar is a high-abundance mineral in the earth's crust, and its natural weathering and dissolution processes are an important phenomenon on the earth's surface. This study focused on the dissolution behavior of silicon (Si) and aluminum (Al) in feldspar minerals (microcline and albite) when exposed to low-molecular-weight organic acids (LMWOAs). Various analytical techniques, including atomic absorption spectrophotometer, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, were employed to investigate these processes. The results revealed that the concentration of Si and Al released from alkali feldspar increased after treatment with LMWOAs, exhibiting non-stoichiometric dissolution. The Si/Al release ratio from feldspar deviated from the expected value of three. Among the LMWOAs tested, oxalic acid was found to be more effective in dissolving aluminum, while citric acid showed greater efficacy in dissolving silicon. Notably, the composite acid demonstrated the highest capacity for feldspar dissolution, with values of 538 μM (Si) and 287 µM (Al) after treatment for 720 h, respectively. The dissolution data for Si and Al in the organic acid solution was fittingly described by a first-order equation, with high correlation coefficients (R2 ≥ 0.992). The characterization of feldspar powders indicated that the (040) crystal plane of feldspar was particularly susceptible to attack by organic acids. In the presence of these acids, the chemical bonds Si (Al)-O, Si-Si(Al), and O-Si(Al)-O shifted to higher wavenumbers. Additionally, the surface corrosion morphology of feldspar exhibited distinct nanostructures, which became more pronounced with increasing exposure time. It was also observed that the reactivity of feldspar increased over time. Development in water resource protection areas frequently grapples with balancing environmental sustainability and local economic growth. Consequently, a nuanced assessment of social resilience becomes imperative. This research presented a case study of the Water Resource Protection Area in Taipei, gauging its social resilience across five dimensions: "social support function", "inclusive governance", "economic allocation", "built environment", and "resources for sustainability". From these, 49 influential factors that could impact the social resilience of the water resource protection area were discerned. Through the engagement of 21 experts via questionnaires and subsequent analysis using the Fuzzy Delphi method, this study identified 23 core factors. Notably, influential factors pertaining to the "social support function" significantly impacted the water resource protection area. The findings aim to streamline the evaluation of social resilience in water resource protection areas, potentially guiding future research utilizing the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method and steering industrial developments in these areas. This study delves into the offshore fishing industry in Taiwan, emphasizing the significance of the aquatic product market, supply chain development, and the maturity of cold chain technology. Taiwan's geographical advantage of being surrounded by the sea provides a thriving environment for marine resources and migratory fish. This study is motivated by the increasing demand for diverse fish products, driven by the growing need for high-quality protein. Recognizing the importance of meeting this demand, this study aims to investigate the capacity of logistics systems and cold storage in the offshore fishery industry, particularly under conditions of uncertainty. To tackle the optimization challenges prevalent in the offshore fishery supply chain, this study employs the bat algorithm (BA), a metaheuristic algorithm inspired by the remarkable echolocation behavior of bats. Additionally, a systematic literature review methodology is utilized to gather relevant articles and establish a comprehensive understanding of the study domain. This study culminates in proposing an optimized fishing model for the offshore fishery supply chain, highlighting the significance of evaluating supply chain value from a management perspective and identifying existing deficiencies and bottlenecks in current research. By focusing on optimizing the offshore fishery supply chain, this study aims to enhance the industry's efficiency and effectiveness, providing valuable insights and recommendations to improve the capacity of logistics systems and cold storage. Furthermore, this study presents the results of the BA, showcasing its effectiveness in approaching optimization challenges, thereby validating its utility for the offshore fishery industry. Sensitivity analysis reveals the potential for higher profits by raising the inventory limit of the manufacturer, enabling the supplier to provide materials to more profitable trading partners. While this study is based on a revenue and cost model, it acknowledges that the objectives and constraints would become more complex in varying logistic system circumstances. The activation of innate antiviral immunity is a promising approach for combatting viral infections. In this study, we screened Chinese herbs that activated human immunity and identified coptisine as a potent inhibitor of the influenza virus with an EC50 of 10.7 μM in MDCK cells. The time of an addition assay revealed that pre-treatment with coptisine was more effective at reducing viral replication than co-treatment or post-treatment. Our bulk RNA-sequencing data showed that coptisine upregulated the p21 signaling pathway in MDCK cells, which was responsible for its antiviral effects. Specifically, coptisine increased the expression of p21 and FOXO1 in a dose-dependent manner while leaving the MELK expression unchanged. Docking analysis revealed that coptisine likely inhibited MELK activity directly by forming hydrogen bonds with ASP-150 and GLU-87 in the catalytic pocket. In this study, we investigate the ameliorating functions of QDYD (MSP2), ARW (MSP8), DDGGK (MSP10), YPAGP (MSP13) and DPAGP (MSP18) from monkfish swim bladders on an FFA-induced NAFLD model of HepG2 cells. The lipid-lowering mechanisms revealed that these five oligopeptides can up-regulate the expression of phospho-AMP-activated protein kinase (p-AMPK) proteins to inhibit the expression of the sterol regulatory element binding protein-1c (SREBP-1c) proteins on increasing lipid synthesis and up-regulating the expression of the PPAP-α and CPT-1 proteins on promoting the β-oxidation of fatty acids. Moreover, QDYD (MSP2), ARW (MSP8), DDGGK (MSP10), YPAGP (MSP13) and DPAGP (MSP18) can significantly inhibit reactive oxygen species' (ROS) production, promote the activities of intracellular antioxidases (superoxide dismutase, SOD; glutathione peroxidase, GSH-PX; and catalase, CAT) and bring down the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) derived from lipid peroxidation. Further investigations revealed that the regulation of these five oligopeptides on oxidative stress was achieved through activating the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) pathway to raise the expression levels of the heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) protein and downstream antioxidant proteases. Flower breeders are continually refining their methods for producing high-quality flowers. Phalaenopsis species are considered the most important commercially grown orchids. Advances in genetic engineering technology have provided researchers with new tools that can be used along with traditional breeding methods to enhance floral traits and quality. However, the application of molecular techniques for the breeding of new Phalaenopsis species has been relatively rare. In this study, we constructed recombinant plasmids carrying flower color-related genes, Phalaenopsis Chalcone synthase (PhCHS5) and/or Flavonoid 3′,5′-hydroxylase (PhF3′5′H). These genes were transformed into both Petunia and Phalaenopsis plants using a gene gun or an Agrobacterium tumefaciens-based method. Compared with WT, 35S::PhCHS5 and 35S::PhF3′5′H both had deeper color and higher anthocyanin content in Petunia plants. Additionally, a phenotypic comparison with wild-type controls indicated the PhCHS5 or PhF3′5′H-transgenic Phalaenopsis produced more branches, petals, and labial petals. Moreover, PhCHS5 or PhF3′5′H-transgenic Phalaenopsis both showed deepened lip color, compared with the control. However, the intensity of the coloration of the Phalaenopsis lips decreased when protocorms were co-transformed with both PhCHS5 and PhF3′5′H. The results of this study confirm that PhCHS5 and PhF3′5′H affect flower color in Phalaenopsis and may be relevant for the breeding of new orchid varieties with desirable flowering traits. Physalis plants are commonly used traditional medicinal herbs, and most of their extracts containing withanolides show anticancer effects. Physapruin A (PHA), a withanolide isolated from P. peruviana, shows antiproliferative effects on breast cancer cells involving oxidative stress, apoptosis, and autophagy. However, the other oxidative stress-associated response, such as endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, and its participation in regulating apoptosis in PHA-treated breast cancer cells remain unclear. This study aims to explore the function of oxidative stress and ER stress in modulating the proliferation and apoptosis of breast cancer cells treated with PHA. PHA induced a more significant ER expansion and aggresome formation of breast cancer cells (MCF7 and MDA-MB-231). The mRNA and protein levels of ER stress-responsive genes (IRE1α and BIP) were upregulated by PHA in breast cancer cells. The co-treatment of PHA with the ER stress-inducer (thapsigargin, TG), i.e., TG/PHA, demonstrated synergistic antiproliferation, reactive oxygen species generation, subG1 accumulation, and apoptosis (annexin V and caspases 3/8 activation) as examined by ATP assay, flow cytometry, and western blotting. These ER stress responses, their associated antiproliferation, and apoptosis changes were partly alleviated by the N-acetylcysteine, an oxidative stress inhibitor. Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is insensitive to target therapy for non-TNBC and needs novel drug discovery. Extracts of the traditional herb Boesenbergia plant in Southern Asia exhibit anticancer effects and contain novel bioactive compounds but merely show cytotoxicity. We recently isolated a new compound from B. stenophylla, stenophyllol B (StenB), but the impact and mechanism of its proliferation-modulating function on TNBC cells remain uninvestigated. This study aimed to assess the antiproliferative responses of StenB in TNBC cells and examine the drug safety in normal cells. StenB effectively suppressed the proliferation of TNBC cells rather than normal cells in terms of an ATP assay. This preferential antiproliferative function was alleviated by pretreating inhibitors for oxidative stress (N-acetylcysteine (NAC)) and apoptosis (Z-VAD-FMK). Accordingly, the oxidative-stress-related mechanisms were further assessed. StenB caused subG1 and G2/M accumulation but reduced the G1 phase in TNBC cells, while normal cells remained unchanged between the control and StenB treatments. The apoptosis behavior of TNBC cells was suppressed by StenB, whereas that of normal cells was not suppressed according to an annexin V assay. StenB-modulated apoptosis signaling, such as for caspases 3, 8, and 9, was more significantly activated in TNBC than in normal cells. StenB also caused oxidative stress in TNBC cells but not in normal cells according to a flow cytometry assay monitoring reactive oxygen species, mitochondrial superoxide, and their membrane potential. StenB induced greater DNA damage responses (γH2AX and 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine) in TNBC than in normal cells. All these StenB responses were alleviated by NAC pretreatment. Ginger-derived compounds are abundant sources of anticancer natural products. However, the anticancer effects of (E)-3-hydroxy-1-(4′-hydroxy-3′,5′-dimethoxyphenyl)-tetradecan-6-en-5-one (3HDT) have not been examined. This study aims to assess the antiproliferation ability of 3HDT on triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells. 3HDT showed dose-responsive antiproliferation for TNBC cells (HCC1937 and Hs578T). Moreover, 3HDT exerted higher antiproliferation and apoptosis on TNBC cells than on normal cells (H184B5F5/M10). By examining reactive oxygen species, mitochondrial membrane potential, and glutathione, we found that 3HDT provided higher inductions for oxidative stress in TNBC cells compared with normal cells. Antiproliferation, oxidative stress, antioxidant signaling, and apoptosis were recovered by N-acetylcysteine, indicating that 3HDT preferentially induced oxidative-stress-mediated antiproliferation in TNBC cells but not in normal cells. Moreover, by examining γH2A histone family member X (γH2AX) and 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine, we found that 3HDT provided higher inductions for DNA damage, which was also reverted by N-acetylcysteine. The treatment provided for breast cancer depends on the expression of hormone receptors, human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2), and cancer staging. Surgical intervention, along with chemotherapy or radiation therapy, is the mainstay of treatment. Currently, precision medicine has led to personalized treatment using reliable biomarkers for the heterogeneity of breast cancer. Recent studies have shown that epigenetic modifications contribute to tumorigenesis through alterations in the expression of tumor suppressor genes. Our aim was to investigate the role of epigenetic modifications in genes involved in breast cancer. A total of 486 patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas Pan-cancer BRCA project were enrolled in our study. Hierarchical agglomerative clustering analysis further divided the 31 candidate genes into 2 clusters according to the optimal number. Kaplan–Meier plots showed worse progression-free survival (PFS) in the high-risk group of gene cluster 1 (GC1). In addition, the high-risk group showed worse PFS in GC1 with lymph node invasion, which also presented a trend of better PFS when chemotherapy was combined with radiotherapy than when chemotherapy was administered alone. In conclusion, we developed a novel panel using hierarchical clustering that high-risk groups of GC1 may be promising predictive biomarkers in the clinical treatment of patients with breast cancer. In the study, papain was chosen from five proteases to hydrolyze proteins of monkfish swim bladders for effectively utilizing monkfish (Lophius litulon) processing byproducts, and the hydrolysis conditions of papain were optimized as hydrolysis temperature of 65 °C, pH 7.5, enzyme dose 2.5% and time 5 h using single-factor and orthogonal experiments. Eighteen peptides were purified from the swim bladder hydrolysate of monkfish by ultrafiltration and gel permeation chromatography methods and identified as YDYD, QDYD, AGPAS, GPGPHGPSGP, GPK, HRE, GRW, ARW, GPTE, DDGGK, IGPAS, AKPAT, YPAGP, DPT, FPGPT, GPGPT, GPT and DPAGP, respectively. Among eighteen peptides, GRW and ARW showed significant DPPH· scavenging activities with EC50 values of 1.053 ± 0.003 and 0.773 ± 0.003 mg/mL, respectively; YDYD, QDYD, GRW, ARW and YPAGP revealed significantly HO· scavenging activities with EC50 values of 0.150 ± 0.060, 0.177 ± 0.035, 0.201 ± 0.013, 0.183 ± 0.0016 and 0.190 ± 0.010 mg/mL, respectively; YDYD, QDYD, ARW, DDGGK and YPAGP have significantly O 2 − · scavenging capability with EC50 values of 0.126 ± 0.0005, 0.112 ± 0.0028, 0.127 ± 0.0002, 0.128 ± 0.0018 and 0.107 ± 0.0002 mg/mL, respectively; and YDYD, QDYD and YPAGP showed strong ABTS+· scavenging ability with EC50 values of 3.197 ± 0.036, 2.337 ± 0.016 and 3.839 ± 0.102 mg/mL, respectively. YDYD, ARW and DDGGK displayed the remarkable ability of lipid peroxidation inhibition and Ferric-reducing antioxidant properties. Moreover, YDYD and ARW can protect Plasmid DNA and HepG2 cells against H2O2-induced oxidative stress. Furthermore, eighteen isolated peptides had high stability under temperatures ranging from 25–100 °C; YDYD, QDYD, GRW and ARW were more sensitive to alkali treatment, but DDGGK and YPAGP were more sensitive to acid treatment; and YDYD showed strong stability treated with simulated GI digestion. Therefore, the prepared antioxidant peptides, especially YDYD, QDYD, GRW, ARW, DDGGK and YPAGP from monkfish swim bladders could serve as functional components applied in health-promoting products because of their high-antioxidant functions. A high sintering temperature is required to acquire excellent performance in the production of porcelain but results in high fuel consumption. To prepare the porcelain with outstanding performance at a lower temperature, a self-produced additive containing calcium (CaK) was added into a three-component system of kaolinite–feldspar–quartz. XRD and SEM were used to characterize the samples. The toughening mechanism and Gibbs free energy were investigated. After introducing the CaK, the bending strength of the porcelain fired at 1513 K increased from 56.32 ± 0.65 MPa to 95.31 ± 0.63 MPa, which was 21.83% higher than that of the porcelain without CaK at an optimal firing temperature of 1603 K. The main crystal phase of the sample comprised mullite and quartz in the raw materials at 1453~1603 K. The anorthite was observed at 1453 K and interlocked with needle-shaped mullite at 1513 K in the porcelain after adding CaK, which resulted in the higher bending strength. Quantitative analysis indicated that the amount of anorthite decreased at 1513 K and disappeared at 1543 K; the amount of mullite increased with temperature. The Gibbs free energy of the reaction (CaO•Al2O3•2SiO2 + 2(Al2O3•2SiO2) → 3Al2O3•2SiO2 + CaO + 4SiO2) at high temperature was negative, which suggested that the formation of mullite (3Al2O3•2SiO2) from anorthite (CaO•Al2O3•2SiO2) was possible. These findings implied that the addition of CaK contributed to the appropriate phase composition and microstructure, and the excellent performance of the porcelain at a lower temperature. In addition, the transformation between anorthite and mullite was possible in the special raw material system. (1) Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects more than 800 million global population. Early detection followed by clinical management is among the best approaches for the affected individuals. However, a sensitive screening tool is not yet available. (2) Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 600 patients aged >20 years with a full range of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) for clinical assessment of kidney function between 1 January 2020, to 30 April 2021, at the Taichung Veterans General Hospital, Taichung, Taiwan. With stratified sampling based on the level of eGFR, participants were evenly grouped into training and validation sets for predictive modeling. Concurrent records of laboratory data from urine samples were used as inputs to the model. (3) Results: The predictive model proposed two formulae based on urine conductivity for detecting suspected early-stage CKD. One formula, P_male45, was for used male subjects aged ≥45 years, and it had a prediction accuracy of 76.3% and a sensitivity of 97.3%. The other formula, P_female55, was used for female subjects aged ≥55 years. It had a prediction accuracy of 81.9% and a sensitivity of 98.4%. Urine conductivity, however, had low associations with urine glucose and urine protein levels. (4) Conclusion: The two predictive models were low-cost and provided rapid detection. Compared to urine protein, these models had a better screening performance for suspected early-stage CKD. It may also be applied for monitoring CKD in patients with progressing diabetes mellitus. A nickel-based filler wire, Inconel 82, was applied to weld a high-silicon steel plate with a chemical composition in wt% of 2.6 Si, 0.5 Al and Fe balance. The chemical composition of the heterogeneous weld bead was deviated from that of the conventional alloy due to incomplete mixing/convection between the filler wire and base metal in the weld pool. The microstructure of the weld bead was examined in greater depth by FESEM/EBSD, EPMA/WDS and STEM/EDS in the experiment. The heterogeneous weld bead was primarily composed of austenite and martensite, and mainly governed by the Ni concentration. A Schaeffler diagram based on the ratio of Cr and Ni equivalents in the selected positions of the weld bead was used to predict the structure and phase(s) of the Fe-based weld bead. Background: The prognosis of HCC patients with main portal vein invasion (Vp4) is poor. We retrospectively reviewed the therapeutic outcomes with our new HAIC regimen in treating Vp4 HCC patients. Patients and Methods: Seventy-one patients received the new regimen of combining HAIC (daily infusion of cisplatin (10 mg/m2), mitomycin-C (2 mg/m2) and Leucovorin (15 mg/m2) plus 100 mg/m2 of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) using an infusion pump for 5 consecutive days) with Lipiodol embolization between 2002 and 2018. Twenty-two patients (31.0%) also received sorafenib. The Kaplan–Meier curve was used to calculate progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). The OS of patients with or without additional sorafenib use or extrahepatic spread (EHS) was also compared. Results: Fifty-six patients (78.9%) had Child-Pugh A liver function. The mean maximal tumor size was 10.3 cm. Twenty patients (28.2%) had EHS at their initial diagnosis. The objective response rate according to the Modified Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (mRECIST) and median OS were 64.8% and 13 months. The 1-, 2- and 3-year survival rates were 53.1%, 21.5% and 18.7%, respectively. In the subgroup analysis, there were no significant survival difference between patients with HAIC only vs. HAIC plus sorafenib (14 vs. 13 months) and between patients with vs. without EHS (12 vs. 13 months). Simple Summary: Cancer cells generate exosomes (extracellular vesicles) to regulate many cell functions for tumor progression. Many exosome-modulating clinical drugs have been developed for effective cancer therapy, but the functions and exosome processing (secretion and assembly) modulation by natural products are not well understood. In this review, we fill the gaps between natural products-modulated miRNAs and exosome-processing by the target gene prediction of the bioinformatics database. The cancer-derived exosomal miRNAs and their exosome processing and modulated cell functions by natural products are well organized. Consequently, this review provides a comprehensive and potential modulating mechanism and targets for exosome processing and cancer cell functions for natural products. Cancer-derived exosomes exhibit sophisticated functions, such as proliferation, apoptosis, migration, resistance, and tumor microenvironment changes. Several clinical drugs modulate these exosome functions, but the impacts of natural products are not well understood. Exosome functions are regulated by exosome processing, such as secretion and assembly. The modulation of these exosome-processing genes can exert the anticancer and precancer effects of cancer-derived exosomes. This review focuses on the cancer-derived exosomal miRNAs that regulate exosome processing, acting on the natural-product-modulating cell functions of cancer cells. However, the role of exosomal processing has been overlooked in several studies of exosomal miRNAs and natural products. In this study, utilizing the bioinformatics database (miRDB), the exosome-processing genes of natural-product-modulated exosomal miRNAs were predicted. Consequently, several natural drugs that modulate exosome processing and exosomal miRNAs and regulate cancer cell functions are described here. Simple Summary: This study examined the potential of a machine learning model with integrated clinical and CT-based radiomics features in predicting the pathologic complete response (pCR) to neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NST) in patients with breast cancer. Our results demonstrated that integration of clinical data and radiomics features could significantly improve model performance with accuracy up to 0.87, compared to clinical (0.69) and radiomics (0.78) models. Moreover, the model performance could be further improved by using more high-order textural features with high reproducibility. The purpose of the present study was to examine the potential of a machine learning model with integrated clinical and CT-based radiomics features in predicting pathologic complete response (pCR) to neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NST) in breast cancer. Contrast-enhanced CT was performed in 329 patients with breast tumors (n = 331) before NST. Pyradiomics was used for feature extraction, and 107 features of seven classes were extracted. Feature selection was performed on the basis of the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), and six ICC thresholds (0.7–0.95) were examined to identify the feature set resulting in optimal model performance. Clinical factors, such as age, clinical stage, cancer cell type, and cell surface receptors, were used for prediction. We tried six machine learning algorithms, and clinical, radiomics, and clinical–radiomics models were trained for each algorithm. Radiomics and clinical–radiomics models with gray level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) features only were also built for comparison. The linear support vector machine (SVM) regression model trained with radiomics features of ICC ≥0.85 in combination with clinical factors performed the best (AUC = 0.87). The performance of the clinical and radiomics linear SVM models showed statistically significant difference after correction for multiple comparisons (AUC = 0.69 vs. 0.78; p < 0.001). The AUC of the radiomics model trained with GLCM features was significantly lower than that of the radiomics model trained with all seven classes of radiomics features (AUC = 0.85 vs. 0.87; p = 0.011). The anticancer effects and mechanisms of marine sponge Aaptos suberitoides were rarely assessed, especially for methanol extract of A. suberitoides (MEAS) to breast cancer cells. This study evaluated the differential suppression effects of proliferation by MEAS between breast cancer and normal cells. MEAS demonstrated more antiproliferation impact on breast cancer cells than normal cells, indicating oxidative stress-dependent preferential antiproliferation effects on breast cancer cells but not for normal cells. Several oxidative stress-associated responses were highly induced by MEAS in breast cancer cells but not normal cells, including the generations of cellular and mitochondrial oxidative stress as well as the depletion of mitochondrial membrane potential. MEAS downregulated cellular antioxidants such as glutathione, partly contributing to the upregulation of oxidative stress in breast cancer cells. This preferential oxidative stress generation is accompanied by more DNA damage (γH2AX and 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine) in breast cancer cells than in normal cells. N-acetylcysteine reverted these MEAS-triggered responses. In conclusion, MEAS is a potential natural product for treating breast cancer cells with the characteristics of preferential antiproliferation function without cytotoxicity to normal cells in vitro. This study provides empirical evidence of the economic effect of contract farming for the agriculture sector dominated by smallholder farms. In light of the association between contract farming and modern food distribution channels, we categorize the adoption decisions of contract farming and modern marketing channels into four mutually exclusive choices and investigate their economic effects through the simulated maximum likelihood estimation of the multinomial treatment effects model. The results provide empirical evidence supporting higher returns from the dual partnerships as choosing modern distributors generates more revenues for the those participating in contract farming than for those with no contract farming, and contract farming is more likely to help generate more revenues for those who have taken modern distributors as their major marketing channel compared with those relying on traditional channels. Moreover, we examine whether any distributional pattern of marginal economic effects, of either contract farming or modern marketing channel, is present among farmers at various scales by using the conditional and unconditional quantile regression models. Our findings suggest that the marginal treatment effects are generally in an increasing trend as the quantile increases, implying that the economic effects of contract farming or partnership with modern distributors are more pronounced for higher returns among rice farmers in Taiwan. This finding has great policy implications for developing sustainable agriculture and food supply when facing greater uncertainties due to global warming in the future, especially in an agriculture sector with most smallholder farmers. The molecular clusters ((HO)3Si-O-Si(OH)3 and (HO)3Al-O-Si(OH)3) representative of aluminosilicate mineral surface were employed to study the dissolution of aluminosilicate in acidic condition via density functional theory (DFT) with the M06-2X+G(d,p) methodology. The surface termination sites (Si and Al) were both tetra-coordinated and the terminal oxygen was protonated in an acidic condition. In the dissolution reaction, the calculated barrier height of the six-membered ring transition state complex containing two water molecules was predicted to be 76.13 kJ/mol, lower than that of the four-membered ring transition state complex containing one water molecule. The barrier height of the reaction decreased to 6.17 kJ/mol and was 91.90% lower than that for the Siter-O-Si without protonation. In addition, the calculated barrier heights for Al-terminated sites were predicted to be 22.23 kJ/mol, lower than those for the Si-terminated sites, suggesting that breaking the Al-O bond is easier than the Si-O bond in the aluminosilicate mineral surface. With the fracture of Si-O and Al-O bonds, the Si and Al release from the aluminosilicate. The results indicate that the acidic condition facilitates the release of Si and Al from the aluminosilicate, and the concentration of Al leaching from the aluminosilicate is higher than the Si. To determine phenotype-related dupilumab response in adult patients with atopic dermatitis (AD), this multicenter, retrospective study included 111 adults with moderate-to-severe AD in Taiwan, with median age of 31.5 years (18–87) and 71 (64.0%) males. Patients received dupilumab 300 mg per two to three weeks up to 12 months. We found a significant improvement after 4 and 16 weeks of treatment in all patients for all the assessed scores, including eczema area and severity index (EASI) improvement ≥50% (EASI-50) and 75% (EASI-75), EASI reaching minimal clinically important difference (MCID), and Investigator's Global Assessment (IGA) improvement ≥2. Importantly, prior to asthma, early AD onset and 3-week drug intervals were significantly associated with a high proportion of EASI-75 at month 12, while prurigo and lichenoid phenotypes were associated with a lower proportion of EASI-75 at month 12. However, the majority of adverse events were mild in severity. In conclusion, our study results identify phenotype-related dupilumab response at month 12 in adults with moderate-to-severe AD, and we suggest that treatment should not be discontinued until reaching a satisfactory clinical response. Simple Summary: Thermal tolerance can help understand species' response to climate change, but regional scale data is missing. We filled this gap by investigating intraspecific variations in the critical thermal maximum (CTmax) of Rana uenoi tadpoles collected from rice paddies and Bufo sachalinensis tadpoles collected from lakes, over a five-degree latitudinal gradient. We found a positive relationship between latitude and CTmax in R. uenoi tadpoles, although they did not display specific thermoregulatory behaviors. In contrast, none of the abiotic factors were related to CTmax in B. sachalinensis, but the tadpoles swam closer to the water surface when water temperature increased. Thus, R. uenoi displays a physiological adaptive response while B. sachalinensis behaviorally thermoregulate. This is important as species specific responses to climate change have to be understood for their conservation. Although thermal tolerance along geographical gradients gives an insight into species' response to climate change, current studies on thermal tolerance are strongly skewed towards global-scale patterns. As a result, intraspecific variations are often assumed to be constant, despite a lack of evidence. To understand population-specific responses to thermal stress, we investigated the presence of intraspecific variations in the critical thermal maximum (CTmax) of tadpoles in two anuran species, Rana uenoi and Bufo sachalinensis. The study was conducted across a five-degree latitudinal gradient in the Republic of Korea. We exposed the tadpoles to increasing temperatures and recorded the CTmax for 270 R. uenoi individuals from 11 sites, collected in rice paddies, and for 240 B. sachalinensis individuals from ten sites, collected in reservoirs. We also recorded the swimming performance and behavior of the tadpoles when placed in an experimental apparatus during CTmax measurements. We then used linear regressions to determine the relationship between abiotic factors and CTmax. In R. uenoi, we found a positive relationship between latitude and CTmax, but the tadpoles did not display specific thermoregulatory behaviors. In B. sachalinensis, none of the abiotic factors such as climate and geographic coordinates were related to CTmax, but we detected a tendency to swim close to the water surface when water temperature was increasing. For R. uenoi, we tentatively relate the CTmax variability across the latitudinal gradient to a physiological adaptive response associated with habitat characteristics that are assumed to be fluctuating, as the species inhabits small water bodies prone to drying out. In the case of B. sachalinensis, the behavior observed may be linked to oxygen depletion and thermoregulation, as it may buffer temperature changes in the absence of physiological adjustment. These findings suggest that intra-specific variations in CTmax are greater than generally accounted for, and thermal conditions of natural environments are important for understanding thermal tolerance in ectothermic species. AKT serine-threonine kinase (AKT) and its effectors are essential for maintaining cell proliferation, apoptosis, autophagy, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, mitochondrial morphogenesis (fission/fusion), ferroptosis, necroptosis, DNA damage response (damage and repair), senescence, and migration of cancer cells. Several lncRNAs and circRNAs also regulate the expression of these functions by numerous pathways. However, the impact on cell functions by lncRNAs and circRNAs regulating AKT and its effectors is poorly understood. This review provides comprehensive information about the relationship of lncRNAs and circRNAs with AKT on the cell functions of cancer cells. the roles of several lncRNAs and circRNAs acting on AKT effectors, such as FOXO, mTORC1/2, S6K1/2, 4EBP1, SREBP, and HIF are explored. To further validate the relationship between AKT, AKT effectors, lncRNAs, and circRNAs, more predicted AKT- and AKT effector-targeting lncRNAs and circRNAs were retrieved from the LncTarD and circBase databases. Consistently, using an in-depth literature survey, these AKT- and AKT effector-targeting database lncRNAs and circRNAs were related to cell functions. Therefore, some lncRNAs and circRNAs can regulate several cell functions through modulating AKT and AKT effectors. The primary cause of breast cancer mortality is the metastatic invasion of cancerous stem cells (CSC). Cluster of differentiation 44 (CD44) is a well-known CSC marker in various cancers, as well as a key role player in metastasis and relapse of breast cancer. CD44 is a cell-membrane embedded protein, and it interacts with different proteins to regulate cancer cell behavior. Transcription factor forkhead box protein A2 (FOXA2) acts as an important regulator in multiple cancers, including breast cancer. However, the biological significance of CD44-FOXA2 association in breast cancer metastasis remains unclear. Herein, we observed that CD44 expression was higher in metastatic lymph nodes compared to primary tumors using a flow cytometric analysis. CD44 overexpression in breast cancer cell lines significantly promoted cell migration and invasion abilities, whereas the opposite effects occurred upon the knockdown of CD44. The stem cell array analysis revealed that FOXA2 expression was upregulated in CD44 knockdown cells. However, the knockdown of FOXA2 in CD44 knockdown cells reversed the effects on cell migration and invasion. Furthermore, we found that CD44 mediated FOXA2 localization in breast cancer cells through the AKT pathway. Moreover, the immunofluorescence assay demonstrated that AKT inhibitor wortmannin and AKT activator SC79 treatment in breast cancer cells impacted FOXA2 localization. (1) Background: We aimed to evaluate hearing benefits from hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy in patients with Idiopathic Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (ISSHL). (2) Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of chart reviews on patients with ISSHL between Jan 2016 and Dec 2021. All patients were referred to receive HBO therapy by the department of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT). Hearing gain was assessed based on pure-tone audiometry (PTA). Data were analyzed for 102 patients after 1 to 5 therapy sessions, and for 46 patients after 6 to 10 therapy sessions. (3) Results: After 1–5 HBO sessions, patients (N = 102) showed an improvement in 45 (44.1%) of the patients (p < 0.000). Also, improvements were found with patients showing different grades of ISSHL: 11 (26.8%) with slight-moderate, 11 (40.7%) with severe, and 23 (67.6%) with profound ISSHL. Significant treatment effects were found at different affected frequencies, especially the low frequency range. After 6–10 HBO sessions, patients (N = 46) showed similar treatment effects as after 1–5 HBO sessions, but no additional improvement. Moreover, patients who received HBO treatment within 12 days showed improvement effects 6.484 times greater (p < 0.000) compared with those who received treatment after 13 days. (4) Conclusions: The improvement of HBO therapy on ISSHL was significant after 1–5 sessions, with larger improvements for those suffering more serious symptoms. Further adding more HBO treatment sessions to 6–10, no further improvement was found. Self-monitoring for spirometry is beneficial to assess the progression of lung disease and the effect of pulmonary rehabilitation. However, home spirometry fails to meet both accuracy and repeatability criteria in a satisfactory manner. The study aimed to propose a pervasive spirometry estimation system with the six-minute walking test (6MWT), where the system with information management, communication protocol, predictive algorithms, and a wrist-worn device, was developed for pulmonary function. A total of 60 subjects suffering from respiratory diseases aged from 25 to 90 were enrolled in the study. Pulmonary function test, walking steps, and physical status were measured before and after performing the 6MWT. The significant variables were extracted to predict per step distance (PSD), forced vital capacity (FVC) and forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1). These predicted formulas were then implemented in a wrist-worn device of the proposed pervasive estimation system. The predicted models of PSD, and FVC, FEV1 with the 6MWT were created. The estimated difference for PSD was—0.7 ± 9.7 (cm). FVC and FEV1 before performing 6MWT were 0.2 ± 0.6 (L) and 0.1 ± 0.6 (L), respectively, and with a sensitivity (Sn) of 81.8%, a specificity (Sp) of 63.2% for obstructive lung diseases, while FVC and FEV1 after performing the 6MWT were 0.2 ± 0.7 (L) and 0.1 ± 0.6 (L), respectively, with an Sn of 90.9% and an Sp of 63.2% for obstructive lung diseases. Furthermore, the developed wristband prototype of the pulmonary function estimation system was demonstrated to provide effective self-estimation. The proposed system, consisting of hardware, application and algorithms was shown to provide pervasive assessment of the pulmonary function status with the 6MWT. The purpose of this study aimed to assess the antiproliferation effects of methanol extract of T. swinhoei (METS) and explore the detailed responses of oral cancer cells compared to normal cells. METS effectively inhibits the cell proliferation of oral cancer cells but does not affect normal cell viability, exhibiting preferential antiproliferation function. METS exerted more subG1 accumulation, apoptosis induction, cellular and mitochondrial oxidative stress, and DNA damage than normal cells, reverted by oxidative stress inhibitor N-acetylcysteine. This METS-caused oxidative stress was validated to attribute to the downregulation of glutathione. METS activated both extrinsic and intrinsic caspases. DNA double-strand breaks (γH2AX) and oxidative DNA damage (8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine) were stimulated by METS. Endocrine therapy (ET) of selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs), selective estrogen receptor downregulators (SERDs), and aromatase inhibitors (AIs) has been used as the gold standard treatment for hormone-receptor-positive (HR+) breast cancer. Despite its clinical benefits, approximately 30% of patients develop ET resistance, which remains a major clinical challenge in patients with HR+ breast cancer. The mechanisms of ET resistance mainly focus on mutations in the ER and related pathways; however, other targets still exist from ligand-independent ER reactivation. Moreover, mutations in the ER that confer resistance to SERMs or AIs seldom appear in SERDs. To date, little research has been conducted to identify a critical target that appears in both SERMs/SERDs and AIs. In this study, we conducted comprehensive transcriptomic and proteomic analyses from two cohorts of The Cancer Genome Atlas Breast Invasive Carcinoma (TCGA-BRCA) to identify the critical targets for both SERMs/SERDs and AIs of ET resistance. From a treatment response cohort with treatment response for the initial ET regimen and an endocrine therapy cohort with survival outcomes, we identified candidate gene sets that appeared in both SERMs/SERDs and AIs of ET resistance. The candidate gene sets successfully differentiated progress/resistant groups (PD) from complete response groups (CR) and were significantly correlated with survival outcomes in both cohorts. In summary, this study provides valuable clinical implications for the critical roles played by candidate gene sets in the diagnosis, mechanism, and therapeutic strategy for both SERMs/SERDs and AIs of ET resistance for the future. The digital beamforming synthetic aperture radar (DBF-SAR) is proposed by scholars as a promising solution to overcome the constraint of the minimum antenna area of the traditional single-channel SAR to achieve high resolution and wide swath (HRWS) by scan-on-receive (SCORE) in the elevation multiple channel. However, the inevitable channel imbalance between the elevation channels of DBF-SAR will degrade the DBF-SAR image quality. In this paper, we present a method to estimate the sampling time delay error, amplitude error and phase error based on the external calibration data. For the sampling time delay deviation, we adopt to calculate the statistical average of the position deviation of several external calibration points in the reference channel image with that of the error channel image. To avoid noise interference, we image the DBF-SAR original echo-carrying amplitude information to obtain the amplitude error between channels by dividing the absolute values of the complex image data of the error channel. Due to the phase error between channels, the image contrast will decrease. Therefore, the problem of estimating the phase error can be transformed into the problem of maximizing the image contrast. So, in this paper, we use the gradient descent method to optimally estimate the phase error. Impaired wound healing and especially the "all-too-common" occurrence of associated diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) are becoming an increasingly urgent and deteriorating healthcare issue, which drastically impact the quality of life and further heighten the risks of infection and amputation in patients with diabetes mellitus. Amongst the multifactorial wound healing determinants, glycemic dysregulation has been identified to be the primary casual factor of poor wound healing. Unfortunately, current therapeutic modalities merely serve as moderate symptomatic relieves but often fail to completely restore the wound site to its pre-injury state and prevent further recurrence. Stem cell-based therapeutics have been employed for its promising potential to address the root of the problem as they not only exhibit the capacity for self-renewal and differentiation towards multiple lineages, but also have been disclosed to participate in mediating variant growth factors and cytokines. Herein we review the current literatures on the therapeutic benefits of using various kinds of stem cells, including embryonic stem cells (ESCs), induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), and adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) in diabetic wound healing by searching on the PubMed® Database for publications. This study shall serve as an overview of the current body of research with particular focus on autologous ASCs and the laboratory expandable iPSCs in hope of shedding more light on this attractive therapy so as to elevate the efficacy of wound healing that is almost always compromised in diabetic patients. Oxidative stress and AKT serine-threonine kinase (AKT) are responsible for regulating several cell functions of cancer cells. Several natural products modulate both oxidative stress and AKT for anticancer effects. However, the impact of natural product-modulating oxidative stress and AKT on cell functions lacks systemic understanding. Notably, the contribution of regulating cell functions by AKT downstream effectors is not yet well integrated. This review explores the role of oxidative stress and AKT pathway (AKT/AKT effectors) on ten cell functions, including apoptosis, autophagy, endoplasmic reticulum stress, mitochondrial morphogenesis, ferroptosis, necroptosis, DNA damage response, senescence, migration, and cell-cycle progression. The impact of oxidative stress and AKT are connected to these cell functions through cell function mediators. Moreover, the AKT effectors related to cell functions are integrated. Based on this rationale, natural products with the modulating abilities for oxidative stress and AKT pathway exhibit the potential to regulate these cell functions, but some were rarely reported, particularly for AKT effectors. This review sheds light on understanding the roles of oxidative stress and AKT pathway in regulating cell functions, providing future directions for natural products in cancer treatment. Combined treatment is a promising anticancer strategy for improving antiproliferation compared with a single treatment but is limited by adverse side effects on normal cells. Fucoidan (FN), a brown-algae-derived polysaccharide safe food ingredient, exhibits preferential function for antiproliferation to oral cancer but not normal cells. Utilizing the preferential antiproliferation, the impacts of FN in regulating ultraviolet C (UVC) irradiation were assessed in oral cancer cells. A combined treatment (UVC/FN) reduced cell viability of oral cancer cells (Ca9-22 and CAL 27) more than single treatments (FN or UVC), i.e., 53.7%/54.6% vs. 71.2%/91.6%, and 89.2%/79.4%, respectively, while the cell viability of UVC/FN treating on non-malignant oral (S–G) was higher than oral cancer cells, ranging from 106.0 to 108.5%. Mechanistically, UVC/FN preferentially generated higher subG1 accumulation and apoptosis-related inductions (annexin V, caspases 3, 8, and 9) in oral cancer cells than single treatments. UVC/FN preferentially generated higher oxidative stress than single treatments, as evidenced by flow cytometry-detecting reactive oxygen species, mitochondrial superoxide, and glutathione. Moreover, UVC/FN preferentially caused more DNA damage (γH2AX and 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine) in oral cancer cells than in single treatments. N-acetylcysteine pretreatment validated the oxidative stress effects in these UVC/FN-induced changes. Taken together, FN effectively enhances UVC-triggered antiproliferation to oral cancer cells. A chirp-mismatch echo signal can be generated by exchanging the I and Q baseband signals of a received SAR signal. In this paper, the basic generation principles of a chirp-mismatch echo signal are analyzed. Then, a suppression jamming method with controllable jamming position and coverage area is proposed. This method firstly performs chirp-mismatch processing on the received SAR signals, then controls the range jamming coverage and center position through range shift-frequency modulation and time delay, and controls the azimuth jamming coverage and center position through motion modulation and azimuth shift-frequency modulation. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that this method can effectively control the location and coverage of a jamming result without convolution modulation, and it is easy to implement in engineering. The simulation results verify the correctness of the theoretical model, which can provide a basis for the implementation and application of SAR jamming based on the active radar transponder. Purpose: To report our thrombolytic technique, treatment strategy, and clinical outcomes for porto-mesenteric venous thrombosis (PMVT) in non-cirrhotic patients. Methods: Sixteen acute or chronic non-cirrhotic PMVT patients (mean age: 48.6 years) with imminent intestinal ischemia were enrolled from 2004 to 2020. Eight patients presented thrombus extension into the peripheral mesenteric vein, close to the venous arcade. Transhepatic catheter-directed thrombolysis (CDT) was performed by urokinase infusion (60,000–30,000 IU/h concomitant with heparin 300–400 IU/h), catheter aspiration, and/or balloon dilation/stent placement. Additional intra-arterial mesenteric infusion of urokinase (30,000 IU/h) was given in patients with the peripheral mesenteric venules involved. Transjugular intrahepatic porto-systemic shunt (TIPS) was created in patients with poor recanalization of the intrahepatic portal flow (PV). Results: The transhepatic route was adopted in all patients, with adjunct indirect mesenteric arterial thrombolytic infusion in eight patients. A total of up to 20.4 million IU urokinase was infused for 1–21 days' treatment duration. TIPS was created in three patients with recanalization failure of the intrahepatic PV. Technical success was achieved in 100% of patients with complete recanalization of 80% and partial recanalization of 20%. No major procedure-related complications were encountered. The 30-day mortality rate was 6.7%. The overall two-year primary patency was 84.6%. Conclusions: CDT can be performed as a primary salvage treatment once the diagnosis is made. CDT via the transhepatic route with tailored thrombolytic regimen is safe and effective for both acute and chronic PMVT. The grey Riccati model (GRM) is a generalization of the grey Verhulst model (GVM). Both the GRM and GVM generally perform well in simulating and forecasting the raw sequences with a bell-shaped or single peak feature. Although there are several methods to solve the Riccati differential equation, the existing time response functions of the GRM are generally complicated. In order to reduce the computational complexity of the time response function, this study attempts to transform the Riccati equation into a Bernoulli equation with the help of a known particular solution. Then, a unified time response function of the GRM is obtained by the proposed methodology. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed unified grey Riccati model performs the same as the grey generalized Verhulst model (a kind of grey Riccati model) and is better than the traditional grey Verhulst model. Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) severity, obesity, sex difference, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) had a complex impact on health-related quality of life (HRQoL). However, the interactive effects among these features on HRQoL remained to be clarified. This study aimed to investigate the individual and interactive associations between the four characteristics of interest and HRQoL as determined by 36-Item Short Form Health Survey, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS). This non-interventional, prospective, observational study enrolled a total of 132 patients with suspected OSAS for analysis. While OSAS severity and ADHD detected by adult ADHD Self-Report Scale, termed as screened ADHD, interact with each other, all the four studied features were individually associated with HRQoL. After adjusting for potential physiological and polysomnographic confounders, screened ADHD was independently correlated with PSQI > 5 (OR = 4.126, 95% CI, 1.490–11.424), mental component score < 50 (OR = 5.873, 95% CI, 2.262–15.251) and ESS > 10 (OR = 3.648, 95% CI, 1.738–7.657). Physalis peruviana-derived physapruin A (PHA) is a potent compound that selectively generates reactive oxygen species (ROS) and induces cancer cell death. Autophagy, a cellular self-clearance pathway, can be induced by ROS and plays a dual role in cancer cell death. However, the role of autophagy in PHA-treated cancer cells is not understood. Our study initially showed that autophagy inhibitors such as bafilomycin A1 enhanced the cytotoxic effects of PHA in breast cancer cell lines, including MCF7 and MDA-MB-231. PHA treatment decreased the p62 protein level and increased LC3-II flux. PHA increased the fluorescence intensity of DAPGreen and DALGreen, which are used to reflect the formation of autophagosome/autolysosome and autolysosome, respectively. ROS scavenger N-acetylcysteine (NAC) decreased PHA-elevated autophagy activity, implying that PHA-induced ROS may be required for autophagy induction in breast cancer cells. Moreover, the autophagy inhibitor increased ROS levels and enhanced PHA-elevated ROS levels, while NAC scavenges the produced ROS resulting from PHA and autophagy inhibitor. In addition, the autophagy inhibitor elevated the PHA-induced proportion of annexin V/7-aminoactinmycin D and cleavage of caspase-3/8/9 and poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase. In contrast, NAC and apoptosis inhibitor Z-VAD-FMK blocked the proportion of annexin V/7-aminoactinmycin D and the activation of caspases. Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a rare yet serious progressive disorder that is currently incurable. This female-predominant disease unfolds as a pan-vasculopathy that affects all layers of the vessel wall. Five classes of pharmacological agents currently exist to target the three major cellular signaling pathways identified in PAH but are incapable of effectively reversing the disease progression. While several targets have been identified for therapy, none of the current PAH specific therapies are curative and cost-effective as they fail to reverse vascular remodeling and do not address the cancer-like features of PAH. Our purpose is to review the current literature on the therapeutic management of PAH, as well as the molecular targets under consideration for therapy so as to shed light on the potential role and future promise of novel strategies in treating this high-mortality disease. This review study summarizes and discusses the potential therapeutic targets to be employed against PAH. In addition to the three major conventional pathways already used in PAH therapy, targeting PDGF/PDGFR signaling, regulators in glycolytic metabolism, PI3K/AKT pathways, mitochondrial heat shock protein 90 (HSP90), high-mobility group box-1 (HMGB1), and bromodomain and extra-terminal (BET) proteins by using their specific inhibitors, or a pharmacological induction of the p53 expression, could be attractive strategies for treating PAH. The motivation of this study is that after the COVID-19 epidemic, museum exhibition visits have also been significantly affected. The purpose of this research is to better understand the visual cognition of visitors, so as to improve the application of physical field or online exhibitions. Currently, no research is available on the differences in the visitor's viewing and cognitive process with eye movements sequence analysis that stem from the exhibition planning and design of different museums. This study tracks and analyzes the eye movement trajectories of visitors and studies its relation to learning and cognition and finds the key to influencing cognition through behavioral sequence analysis of displayed content. The results show that those interested in the displayed content have better cognitive performance, are immersed in reading text, and have a substantial shift in eye movement. Contrarily, those not interested in the displayed content are distracted and often turn their attention back to the title of the content. In this study, eye movement and fixation are indicators that can be used as a reference for the future design of displays to improve the effectiveness of presenting information to a visitor. Furthermore, this research can also provide future applications in integrating the virtual world and cognitive information, in the application of AR, VR, or metaverse environment, to provide people's cognition of rapid information in the virtual environment.
