Recycling flexible polyurethane foam (F-PUF) scraps is difficult due to the material's high cross-linking structure. In this work, a wedge-block-reinforced extruder with a considerable enhanced shear extrusion and stretching area between the rotating screw and the stationary wedge blocks was utilized to recycle F-PUF scraps into powder containing surface-active hydroxyl groups. The powder was then utilized for the quantitative replacement of polyol in the foaming process. Characterizations showed that the continuous shear extrusion and stretching during the extrusion process reduced the volume mean diameter (VMD) of the F-PUF powder obtained by extruding it three times at room temperature to reach 54 μm. The -OH number (OHN) of the powder prepared by extruding it three times reached 19.51 mgKOH/g due to the mechanochemical effect of the powdering method. The F-PUF containing recycled powder used to quantitively replace 10 wt.% polyol was similar in microstructure and chemical structure to the original F-PUF, with a compression set of 2%, indentation load deflection of 21.3 lbf, resilience of 43.4%, air permeability of 815.7 L/m2·s, tensile strength of 73.0 Kpa, and tear strength of 2.3 N/cm, indicating that the recycling method has potential for industrial applications. Developing materials with dynamic room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) properties is crucial for expanding the applications of organic light-emitting materials. In this study, we designed and synthesized two novel RTP molecules by combining functional units, incorporating the folded unit thianthrene into the classic luminescent cores thioxanthone or anthraquinone to construct TASO and TA2O. In this combination, the TA unit contributes to the enhancement of spin–orbit coupling (SOC), while the luminescent core governs the triplet energy level. After the strategic manipulation of SOC using the thianthrene unit, the target molecules exhibited a remarkable enhancement in RTP performance. This strategy led to the successful development of TASO and TA2O molecules with outstanding dynamic RTP properties when exposed to continuous ultraviolet irradiation, a result that can be ascribed to their efficient RTP, improved absorption ability, and oxygen-sensitive RTP properties. Leveraging the oxygen-mediated ultraviolet-radiation-induced RTP enhancement in TASO-doped polymer films, we developed a novel time-resolved detection technique for identifying phase separation in polymers with varying oxygen permeability. Typical lubricants behave in a non-Newtonian manner under conditions of high shear and high pressure, as is commonly observed in lubricated rolling/sliding contacts. To optimize and predict the friction therein, knowledge of the high-pressure rheological behaviors of lubricants and limiting shear stress (LSS) is essential. This study developed an approach for determining the LSS of lubricants based on friction mapping of rolling/sliding contacts, using a ball-on-disc traction machine. The main contribution lies in the introduction of a practical approach for the selection of a proper entrainment velocity for determining the LSS, with reduced thermal influences and near isothermal conditions. The proposed approach enables full film lubrication, while keeping the film as thin as possible to prevent excessive shear heating and, thus, thermal effects. The LSS of two lubricants, PAO40 and complex ester, has been measured at pressures ranging from 1.2 GPa to 1.7 GPa. A bilinear model has been used to describe the variation of LSS with pressure. For wind turbine applications, there is a cyclic load-varying process between rolling elements and raceways in pitch bearings. This kind of motion can also lead to radial fretting. However, this is seldom addressed under grease-lubricated conditions in the literature. In this study, grease-lubricated point contact problems have been investigated experimentally under cyclic load-varying conditions. The findings revealed that as the load-varying range diminishes, the variation in grease film distribution becomes more subtle and the rate of discharge of thickener fiber clusters in the stick zone decelerates. This is due to the fact that the rate of change in the Hertz contact radius is reduced and the migration of grease is weakened during the unloading process. Due to the large apparent viscosity of grease with a high soap content, entrapped grease is not easily discharged during loading, and the thickness of the film in the stick zone progressively increases as the soap content of the grease is augmented. This also causes the variable load zone to wear out more easily. As the grease is subjected to repeated loading and unloading, there is a gradual reduction in film thickness, and larger thickener fiber clusters tear, resulting in a flattened form and shear thinning. Grease containing sulphur–phosphorus additives demonstrates a superior effect on reducing fretting wear within the large variable load range but generally proves effective for smaller load-varying ranges. The role of Pleckstrin homology-like domain family B member 2 (PHLDB2) in the regulation of cell migration has been extensively studied. However, the exploration of PHLDB2 in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is still limited in terms of expression, function, and therapeutic potential. In this study, we discovered an upregulation of PHLDB2 expression in HNSCC tissues which was correlated with a negative prognosis in patients with HNSCC. Additionally, we determined that a high level of expression of PHLDB2 is crucial for maintaining cell migration through the regulation of the epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT). Furthermore, we demonstrated that the ablation of PHLDB2 in tumor cells inhibited tumorigenicity in a C3H syngeneic tumor-bearing mouse model. Mechanistically, PHLDB2 was found to be involved in the regulation of T cell anti-tumor immunity, primarily by enhancing the activation and infiltration of CD8+ T cells. Low-temperature mechanical chemical devulcanization is a process that can produce reclaimed rubber with exceptional mechanical properties. However, the inadequacy and low efficiency of the devulcanization have significantly restricted its application. To address the issues, alcoholic amines, including hydroxyethyl ethylenediamine (AEEA), ethanolamine (ETA), and diethanol amine (DEA), are utilized as devulcanizing agents to promote the devulcanization process. Careful characterizations are conducted to reveal the devulcanizing mechanism and to depict the performances of reclaimed rubbers. Results show that the amine groups in the devulcanizing agents can react with sulfur after the crosslink bonds are broken by mechanical shear force, thus blocking the activity of sulfur and introducing hydroxyl groups into the rubber chains. The incorporation of alcoholic amines can enhance the devulcanizing degree and devulcanizing efficiency, reduce the Mooney viscosity, and improve the mechanical and anti-aging performance. When using DEA as the devulcanizing agent, the sol content of reclaimed rubber increases from 13.1% to 22.4%, the devulcanization ratio increases from 82.1% to 89.0%, the Mooney viscosity decreases from 135.5 to 83.6, the tensile strength improves from 14.7 MPa to 16.3 MPa, the retention rate of tensile strength raises from 55.2% to 82.6% after aging for 72 h, while the devulcanization time is shortened from 21 min to 9.5 min, compared with that without using alcoholic amines. Therefore, alcoholic amines exhibit remarkable advantages in the devulcanization of waste rubber, thus indicating a promising direction for the advancement of research in the area of waste rubber reclamation. The bonding properties of BFRP composites have been demonstrated in previous studies, satisfying the strength and durability criteria. In this paper, a further in-depth study is carried out to bond Basalt Fibre Reinforced Polymer (BFRP) to Aluminum Alloy 5052 using two bonding agents, Aralite® 2012 and Aralite® 2015, respectively. The salt sprays under 80 °C, 3.5% NaCl environment; 80 °C, 5% NaCl environment; and pure water environment are also considered for comparison. Experimental results show that joints created with Araldite® 2012 adhesives show higher average breaking strength (10.66 MPa at 720 h) and better ductility in a 5% NaCl environment. While the Araldite® 2015 adhesive joint exhibits a combination of tear failure and interface failure, along with thin-layer cohesion failure. In the SEM images of the two adhesive joints' failure, fiber pullout due to tension and damage at the interface between fiber and resin is apparent. To validate the experimental outcomes, water absorption testing, DSC, TGA-DTG, and FTIR experiments were conducted on dog-bone-shaped adhesive specimens to elucidate the results. An understanding of the proper application of metalworking fluids (MWFs) is necessary for their implementation in efficient production processes. In addition, the knowledge of the process-related aspect of chip transport and the macroscopic cooling effect, the characteristics and properties of lubricant film formation, and the cooling conditions in the secondary shear zone on the chip surface, i.e., in the direct vicinity of the material separation, represent a combined fundamental scientific issue within production engineering. The aim is to transfer methods from the field of tribology of machine elements, which have already led to a considerable gain in knowledge in this discipline, to machining and to couple them with already established approaches to machining. In the case of roller bearings, the contact pressure is in the range as the pressure in the contact zone between the cutting insert and chip. Due to this, established methods might be transferred to the cutting process. In addition to classical pin-on-plate and pin-on-ring friction investigations, film thickness measurements were carried out and compared to machining tests. The coefficient of friction determined in the planing test rig is 0.48 for dry cutting, while it is 0.47 for wet cutting. These two values are much larger than the CoF with MWFs measured on the two tribometers. It is shown that the boundary friction of MWF especially influences the machining process. Carbon nanotube (CNT), as reinforcing agents in natural rubber (NR), has gained a large amount of consideration due to their excellent properties. Uniform dispersion of CNT is the key to obtaining high-performance NR nanocomposites. In this contribution, a novel ultrasonic grinding dispersion method of CNT with waterjet-produced rubber powder (WPRP) as a carrier is proposed. Microscopic morphologies show that a Xanthium-like structure with WPRP as the core and CNTs as the spikes is formed, which significantly improves the dispersion of CNT in the NR matrix and simultaneously strengthens the bonding of the WPRP and NR matrix. With the increase in the WPRP loading, the Payne effect of CNT/WPRP/NR composites decreases, indicating the effectiveness of the dispersion method. The vulcanization MH and ML value and crosslinking density increase with the increase in the WPRP loading, whereas the scorch time and cure time exhibit a decreasing trend when the WPRP loading is less than 15 phr. It is found that the CNT/WPRP/NR composites filled with 5 phr WPRP have a 4% increase in 300% modulus, a 3% increase in tensile strength, while a 5% decrease in Akron abrasion loss, compared to CNT/NR composites. In the context of protecting the ecological environment and carbon neutrality, high-value recycling of flexible polyurethane foam (F-PUF) scraps, generated in the production process, is of great significance to save petroleum raw materials and reduce energy consumption. In the present study, F-PUF scraps were ground into powder by strong shear regrinding using two-roll mill and then reused as a partial replacement of polyol for re-foaming. A series of characterizations were employed to investigate the effect of milling cycles, roller temperatures, and content of the powder on the properties of the powder and F-PUF containing powder. It was revealed that the mechanochemical effect induced breaking of the cross-linking structure and increased activity of the powder. The volume mean diameter (VMD) of powder prepared with 7 milling cycles, at room temperature, is about 97.73 μm. The microstructure and density of the F-PUF containing powder prepared in the above-mentioned manner to replace up to 15 wt.% polyol, is similar to the original F-PUF, with resilience 49.08% and compression set 7.8%, which indicates that the recycling method will play an important role in industrial applications. Deep blue luminescent materials play a crucial role in the organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). In this work, a novel deep blue molecule based on hybridized local and charge-transfer (HLCT) excited state was reported with the emission wavelength of 423 nm. The OLED based on this material achieved high maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 4% with good color purity. The results revealed that the locally-excited (LE)-dominated HLCT excited state had obvious advantages in short wavelength and narrow spectrum emission. Efficient vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications improve traffic safety, enable autonomous driving, and help to reduce environmental impacts. To achieve these objectives, accurate channel estimation in highly mobile scenarios becomes necessary. However, in the V2X millimeter-wave massive MIMO system, the high mobility of vehicles leads to the rapid time-varying of the wireless channel and results in the existing static channel estimation algorithms no longer applicable. In this paper, we propose a sparse Bayes tensor and DOA tracking inspired channel estimation for V2X millimeter wave massive MIMO system. Specifically, by exploiting the sparse scattering characteristics of the channel, we transform the channel estimation into a sparse recovery problem. In order to reduce the influence of quantization errors, both the receiving and transmitting angle grids should have super-resolution. We obtain the measurement matrix to increase the resolution of the redundant dictionary. Furthermore, we take the low-rank characteristics of the received signals into consideration rather than singly using the traditional sparse prior. Motivated by the sparse Bayes tensor, a direction of arrival (DOA) tracking method is developed to acquire the DOA at the next moment, which equals the sum of the DOA at the previous moment and the offset. The obtained DOA is expected to provide a significant angle information update for tracking fast time-varying vehicular channels. The proposed approach is evaluated over the different speeds of the vehicle scenarios and compared to the other methods. In this paper, the influence of temperature on the bonding strength of aluminum alloy joints under the full temperature field is studied. Based on the service temperature range of vehicle bonding structures, the failure strength of aluminum alloy joints at different temperature points, namely −40 °C, −20 °C, 0 °C, 25 °C (RT), 40 °C, 60 °C and 80 °C, is tested. The results showed that compared with the failure strength of the adhesive at −40 °C, it decreased by 47.69% and 68.15% at RT and 80°C, respectively; the Young's modulus of the adhesive decreased by 57.63% and 75.42% at RT and 80°C, respectively; with the increase of temperature, the young's modulus, tensile strength and failure strain of the adhesive decreased. In addition, the failure strength of aluminum alloy joints varied with temperature. To be specific, the stiffness of joints decreased gradually from 25 °C to 80 °C and increased gradually from −40 °C. Based on the failure strength data of bonded joints at different temperature points, the secondary stress failure criteria of bonded joints at different temperatures were obtained. Then, the surface function of failure criteria under the full temperature field was established to provide reference for failure prediction of bonded structures under different temperatures and stresses. The mixer is the most widely used batch mixing equipment in the rubber industry. The rotor is a core component and has a great impact on the mixing effect of the equipment. The current rotor structure design is done empirically, being tightly dependent on practical experience. This paper proposes a method for optimizing the rotor structure by using optimization algorithms combined with numerical simulation technology. Using MATLAB software, a parametric design program for synchronous rotors and a set of optimization programs for the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm were written. The global distribution index was used as the fitness function to optimize the synchronous rotor configuration. A comparative analysis of the rotors before and after optimization shows that the optimization process is feasible, and the results are reliable. A novel torsion screw has been proposed to resolve the inadequate control of mass transfer and the thermal management of two component polymer blends and their carbon fiber composites. The novel torsional screw distinctly introduced radial flow in the torsion screw channel, which is a significant improvement over the flow pattern developed by the conventional screw. The heat transfer and mixing behavior of melt mixtures are enhanced by adapting screws with torsion elements compared with the traditional screw elements. Heat transfer efficacy in the polypropylene–polystyrene bi-phasic extrusion process improved with the increase in torsion element numbers. An increased number of newly designed torsional elements also improved the dispersion of minor phase in bi-phase polypropylene–polystyrene composition and their carbon fiber composites. The unique flow pattern induced by the torsion elements shows a synergistic effect on the melt-phase mass flow and the thermal flow field facilitating phase-to-phase thermal and molecular mobility and enhanced fiber orientation, crystallinity and mechanical properties of composite made from recycled carbon fiber/polypropylene. As the IV generation of packaging, biopolymers, with the advantages of biodegradability, process ability, combination possibilities and no pollution to food, have become the leading food packaging materials. Biopolymers can be directly extracted from biomass, synthesized from bioderived monomers and produced directly by microorganisms which are all abundant and renewable. The raw materials used to produce biopolymers are low-cost, some even coming from agrion dustrial waste. This review summarized the advances in protein-based films and coatings for food packaging. The materials studied to develop protein-based packaging films and coatings can be divided into two classes: plant proteins and animal proteins. Parts of proteins are referred in this review, including plant proteins i.e., gluten, soy proteins and zein, and animal proteins i.e., casein, whey and gelatin. Films and coatings based on these proteins have excellent gas barrier properties and satisfactory mechanical properties. However, the hydrophilicity of proteins makes the protein-based films present poor water barrier characteristics. The application of plasticizers and the corresponding post-treatments can make the properties of the protein-based films and coatings improved. The addition of active compounds into protein-based films can effectively inhibit or delay the growth of microorganisms and the oxidation of lipids. The review also summarized the research about the storage requirements of various foods that can provide corresponding guidance for the preparation of food packaging materials. Numerous jets can be generated simultaneously on a nozzle by needleless melt electrospinning technology which has the advantages of solvent-free residues and environmental friendliness; and potential industrial application prospects. In this paper, the linear annular tip nozzle was taken as the research object, and the high-speed image acquisition of the jets generation and distribution process of annular tip nozzle was carried out and compared with that of straight-line tip nozzle. The results showed that the repulsive force between the jets caused a slight adjustment in the position of the jets on the free surface, the force between the jets on the annular closed curve canceled each other and eventually reached the equilibrium state, making the position of the jets stable and the distance between the jets the same, and the distance between the jets was related to the intensity of the induced electric field at the tip of the nozzle. Relevant conclusions can provide scientific and practical guidance for the design of needleless electrospinning nozzles on free surface in order to achieve uniform and efficient preparation of ultrafine fibers. With the continuous increase in the production of electronic devices, large amounts of electronic waste (E-waste) are routinely being discarded into the environment. This causes serious environmental and ecological problems because of the non-degradable polymers, released hazardous chemicals, and toxic heavy metals. The appearance of biodegradable polymers, which can be degraded or dissolved into the surrounding environment with no pollution, is promising for effectively relieving the environmental burden. Additionally, biodegradable polymers are usually biocompatible, which enables electronics to be used in implantable biomedical applications. However, for some specific application requirements, such as flexibility, electric conductivity, dielectric property, gas and water vapor barrier, most biodegradable polymers are inadequate. Recent research has focused on the preparation of nanocomposites by incorporating nanofillers into biopolymers, so as to endow them with functional characteristics, while simultaneously maintaining effective biodegradability and biocompatibility. As such, bionanocomposites have broad application prospects in electronic devices. In this paper, emergent biodegradable and biocompatible polymers used as insulators or (semi)conductors are first reviewed, followed by biodegradable and biocompatible nanocomposites applied in electronics as substrates, (semi)conductors and dielectrics, as well as electronic packaging, which is highlighted with specific examples. MCM-41- and Al-MCM-41-supported nickel phosphide nanomaterials were synthesized at two different initial molar ratios of Ni/P: 10:2 and 10:3 and were tested as heterogeneous catalysts for the one-pot conversion of cellobiose to sorbitol. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffractometer (XRD), N2 adsorption-desorption, scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), 27Al-magnetic angle spinning-nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer (27Al MAS-NMR), temperature programmed desorption of ammonia (NH3-TPD), temperature-programmed reduction (H2-TPR), and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrophotometer (ICP-OES). The characterization indicated that nickel phosphide nanoparticles were successfully incorporated into both supports without destroying their hexagonal framework structures, that the catalysts contained some or all of the following Ni-containing phases: Ni0, Ni3P, and Ni12P5, and that the types and relative amounts of Ni-containing phases present in each catalyst were largely determined by the initial molar ratio of Ni/P as well as the type of support used. For cellobiose conversion at 150 °C for 3 h under 4 MPa of H2, all catalysts showed similarly high conversion of cellobiose (89.5–95.0%). Nevertheless, sorbitol yield was highly correlated to the relative amount of phases with higher content of phosphorus present in the catalysts, giving the following order of catalytic performance of the Ni-containing phases: Ni12P5 > Ni3P > Ni. Increasing the reaction temperature from 150 °C to 180 °C also led to an improvement in sorbitol yield (from 43.5% to 87.8%). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Edge-drop control is important for silicon strip cold rolling, as the silicon strip is mainly used as a laminated core. Moreover, cold rolling is the key process for the thin strip edge-drop control, and a Sendzimir mill is one of the most popular cold rolling mills for silicon strips. Thus, the mastery of edge-drop control behavior for silicon strip cold rolling with a Sendzimir mill is beneficial for the improvement of the strip profile quality. With the finite element method, two models are built to analyze the edge-drop control behavior, one is the roll system and strip integrated elastic-plastic deformation statics model, and the other is the strip plastic deformation dynamics model. The first model provides the roll gap contour for the second model, then the strip profile can be calculated in the second model, which considers the transverse flow of the metal. Firstly, the compositions of edge-drop for the silicon strip are analyzed systematically, which are the edge-drop for work roll bending, the edge-drop for work roll flattening, and the edge-drop for transverse flow of the metal. Secondly, the influence of different rolling process parameters on the three parts are analyzed, such as the entrance thickness, the rolling reduction, the rolling tension, and so on; further, the influence of the roll contours are also analyzed. Finally, the edge-drop control behavior of the different rolling process parameters and roll contours are obtained. Common swelling agents used in the mechano-chemical rubber devulcanization process usually require high temperatures to achieve satisfactory swelling effects, which results in severe production of pollutants and reduces the selectivity of bond scissions. This work presents an environmentally friendly swelling agent, terpinene, which can swell the rubber crosslink structures at low temperatures. Both a rubber swelling experiment and a rubber reclaiming experiment with a mechano-chemical devulcanization method are conducted to explore the swelling effects of terpinene. After soaking in terpinene at 60 °C for 90 min, the length elongation of the rubber sample reaches 1.55, which is much higher than that in naphthenic oil and is comparable to that in toluene. When adding 3 phr of terpinene for every 100 phr of waste rubber during the reclaiming process, the bond scissions exhibit high selectivity. After revulcanization, the reclaimed rubbers have a tensile strength of 17 MPa and a breaking elongation of 400%. Consequently, the application of terpinene as the swelling agent in the LTMD method can greatly improve the properties of reclaimed rubbers, thereby enhancing the dual value for the economy and environment.
