The real-time tracking of moving objects has extensive applications in various domains. Existing tracking methods typically utilize video image processing, but their performance is limited due to the high information throughput and computational requirements associated with processing continuous images. Additionally, imaging in certain spectral bands can be costly. This paper proposes a non-imaging real-time three-dimensional tracking technique for distant moving targets using single-pixel LiDAR. This novel approach involves compressing scene information from three-dimensional to one-dimensional space using spatial encoding modulation and then obtaining this information through single-pixel detection. A LiDAR system is constructed based on this method, where the peak position of the detected full-path one-dimensional echo signal is used to obtain the target distance, while the peak intensity is used to obtain the azimuth and pitch information of the moving target. The entire process requires minimal data collection and a low computational load, making it feasible for the real-time three-dimensional tracking of single or multiple moving targets. Outdoor experiments confirmed the efficacy of the proposed technology, achieving a distance accuracy of 0.45 m and an azimuth and pitch angle accuracy of approximately 0.03° in localizing and tracking a flying target at a distance of 3 km. This study investigated the nonlinear changes in the vertical motion of 411 GNSS reference stations situated in mainland China and assessed the influence of the environmental load on their vertical displacement. The researchers evaluated the effect of environmental load by calculating the change in annual cycle amplitude before and after its removal, focusing on its impact across regions with distinct foundation types. The results demonstrate that removing the environmental load led to a considerable reduction of approximately 50.25% in the annual cycle amplitude of vertical motion for GNSS reference stations in mainland China. This reduction in amplitude improved the positioning accuracy of the stations, with the highest WRMS reduction being 2.72 mm and an average reduction of 1.03 mm. The most significant impact was observed in the southwestern, northern, and northwestern regions, where the amplitude experienced a notable decrease. Conversely, the southeastern region exhibited a corresponding increase in amplitude. This article innovatively explored the effects of environmental loads on diverse foundation types. When categorizing GNSS reference stations based on their foundation type, namely, bedrock, 18 m soil layer, and 4–8 m soil layer stations, this study found that removing the environmental load resulted in reductions in annual cycle amplitudes of 49.37%, 59.61%, and 46.48%, respectively. These findings indicate that 18 m soil layer stations were more susceptible to environmental load-induced vertical motion. In conclusion, the impact of the environmental load was crucial when analyzing the vertical motion of GNSS reference stations in mainland China, as it was essential for establishing a high-precision coordinate reference framework and studying the tectonic structure of the region. On 7 January 2022, a Mw 6.6 earthquake struck Menyuan County in the Qinghai province of China and the earthquake caused severe damage to infrastructures. In this study, the performance of the high-rate global navigation satellite system (GNSS) on real-time source modeling of the 2022 Mw 6.6 Menyuan earthquake was validated. We conducted the warning magnitude calculation, centroid moment tensor (CMT) inversion, and static fault slip distribution inversion using displacements collected from 14 1-Hz GNSS stations. Our results indicate that the warning magnitude derived from the peak ground displacement (PGD) first exceeds Mw 6.0 approximately 9 s after the earthquake and tends to be stable after about 45 s. The derived finally stable magnitude is Mw 6.5, which is near the USGS magnitude of Mw 6.6. Based on the inverted CMT and static fault slip distribution results, it can be determined that the 2022 Menyuan earthquake is a left-lateral strike-slip event after about 20 s of the earthquake. Although the fault slips, inverted with the 30-s smoothed coseismic offsets, are unstable after about 40 s, all the inverted slip models after that time present the obvious surface rupture and the most fault motions are concentrated between the depth of 0 km and 8 km. Compared with the results inverted with the 30-s smoothed coseismic offsets, the CMT and fault slips inverted with the 70-s smoothed coseismic offsets are more stable. The results obtained in this study indicate that the high-rate GNSS has the potential to be used for real-time source modeling for earthquakes with a magnitude less than 7; the stability of the inverted CMT and fault slips can be improved by using the coseismic offsets averaged by a relatively long-time sliding window. Air temperature is an important parameter in the research of meteorology, environment, and ecology. Obtaining accurate temperature values with high spatial–temporal resolution is the premise for regional climate monitoring and analysis and is also the basis for the calculation of various ecological and environmental factors. In this study, we proposed a temperature refinement method using the ERA5 reanalysis data, which constructed the correlation between the measured temperature derived from weather stations and the interpolated temperature based on the artificial neutral network (ANN) model. Experiments in a high-intensity coal mining area in China were conducted, and the root mean square error (RMSE) and compound relative error (CRE) were adopted as the statistical values in the internal and external accuracy tests. Numerical results showed that the proposed temperature refinement method outperformed the traditional interpolated method with an approximately 42% and 33% RMSE improvement in the internal and external accuracy test, respectively. Moreover, the proposed method effectively improved the geographic differences of the traditional method and obtained temperature estimates with high accuracy at arbitrary sites. Using global ocean vertical temperature anomaly data, we identified that a significant response of the sea temperature anomaly (STA) to the solar radio flux (SRF) exists. We found that the STA exhibited a significant correlation with Asian summer and winter precipitation, among which the response from the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau (the QTP) was particularly noticeable. Based on NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data, the latent heat flux (LHF) anomaly, which plays a key role in winter precipitation in China, especially over the QTP, showed a significant response to the SRF in the Pacific. The results demonstrated the bottom-up mechanism of impact of solar activity (SA) on the plateau snow through sea–air interaction. Meanwhile, a top-down mechanism was also present. When the SRF was high, the stratospheric temperature in the low and mid-latitudes increased and the temperature gradient pointed to the pole to strengthen the westerly wind in the mid-latitudes. The EP flux showed that atmospheric long waves in the high altitudes propagated downward from the stratosphere to the troposphere. A westerly (easterly) wind anomaly occurred in the south (north) of the QTP at 500 hPa and the snowfall rate over the QTP tended to increase. When the SRF was low, the situation was the opposite, and the snowfall rate tended to decrease. The model results confirmed that when total solar irradiance (TSI) became stronger (weaker), both of the solar radiation fluxes at the top of the atmosphere and the surface temperature over the QTP increased (decreased), the vertical updraft intensified (weakened), and the snowfall rate tended to increase (decrease) accordingly. A unified height datum is essential for global geographic information resource construction, ecological environment protection, and scientific research. The goal of this paper is to derive the geopotential value for the Chinese height datum (CNHD) in order to realize the height datum unification in China. The estimation of height datum geopotential value usually depends on high-precision global gravity field models (GFMs). The satellite gravity missions of the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) and Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Exploration (GOCE) provide high-accuracy, medium–long-wavelength gravity field spectra, but satellite-only GFMs are limited to medium–long wavelengths, which will involve omission errors. To compensate for the omission errors in satellite-only GFMs, a spectral expansion approach is used to obtain the refined gravity field models using the EGM2008 (Earth Gravitational Model 2008) and residual terrain model (RTM) technique. The refined GFMs are evaluated by using high-quality GNSS/leveling data, the results show that the quasi-geoid accuracy of the refined DIR_R6_EGM2008_RTM model in China has optimal accuracy and, compared with the EGM2008 model and the DIR_R6 model, this refined model in China is improved by 9.6 cm and 21.8 cm, and the improvement ranges are 35.7% and 55.8%, respectively. Finally, the geopotential value of the Chinese height datum is estimated to be equal to 62,636,853.29 m2s−2 with respect to the global reference level defined by W0 = 62,636,853.4 m2s−2 by utilizing the refined DIR_R6_EGM2008_RTM model and 1908 high-quality GNSS/leveling datapoints. The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) plays an important role in retrieving high temporal–spatial resolution precipitable water vapor (PWV) and its applications. The weighted mean temperature (Tm) is a key parameter for the GNSS PWV estimation, which acts as the conversion factor from the zenith wet delay (ZWD) to the PWV. The Tm is determined by the air pressure and water vapor pressure, while it is not available nearby most GNSS stations. The empirical formular is often applied for the GNSS station surface temperature (Ts) but has a lower accuracy. In this paper, the temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of the coefficients of the linear Tm-Ts model are analyzed, and then a piecewise-linear Tm-Ts relationship is established for each GPS station using radiosonde data collected from 2011 to 2019. The Tm accuracy was increased by more than 10% and 20% for 86 and 52 radiosonde stations, respectively. The PWV time series at 377 GNSS stations from the infrastructure construction of national geodetic datum modernization and Crustal Movement Observation Network of China (CMONC) were further obtained from the GPS observations and meteorological data from 2011 to 2019. The PWV accuracy was improved when compared with the Bevis model. Furthermore, the daily and monthly average values, long-term trend, and its change characteristics of the PWV were analyzed using the high-precision inversion model. The results showed that the averaged PWV was higher in Central-Eastern China and Southern China and lower in Northwest China, Northeast China, and North China. Unification of the global vertical datum has been a key problem to be solved for geodesy over a long period, and the main challenge for a unified vertical datum system is to determine the vertical offset between the local vertical datum and the global vertical datum. For this purpose, the geodetic boundary value problem (GBVP) approach based on the remove-compute-restore (RCR) technique is used to determine the vertical datum parameters in this paper. In the RCR technique, a global geopotential model (GGM) is required to remove and restore the long wavelengths of the gravity field. The satellite missions of the GRACE (Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment) and GOCE (Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Exploration) offer high accuracy medium–long gravity filed information, but GRACE/GOCE-based GGMs are restricted to medium–long wavelengths because the maximum degree of their spherical harmonic representation is limited, which is known as an omission error. To compensate for the omission error of GRACE/GOCE-based GGM, a weighting method is used to determine the combined GGM by combining the high-resolution EGM2008 model (Earth Gravitational Model 2008) and GRACE/GOCE-based GGM to effectively bridge the spectral gap between satellite and terrestrial data. An additional consideration for the high-frequency gravity signals is induced by the topography, and the residual terrain model (RTM) is used to recover the omission errors effect of the combined GGM. In addition, to facilitate practical implementation of the GBVP approach, the effects of the indirect bias term, the spectral accuracy of the GGM, and the systematic levelling errors and distortions in estimations of the vertical datum parameters are investigated in this study. Finally, as a result of the GBVP solution based on the combined DIR_R6/EGM2008 model, RTM, and residual gravity, the geopotential values of the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88), the Australian Height Datum (AHD), and the Hong Kong Principal Datum (HKPD) are estimated to be equal to 62636861.31 ± 0.96, 62653852.60 ± 0.95 and 62636860.55 ± 0.29 m2s−2, respectively. The vertical offsets of NAVD88, AHD, and HKPD with respect to the global geoid are estimated as −0.809 ± 0.090, 0.082 ± 0.093, and −0.731 ± 0.030 m, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

On 20 April 2013, a moment magnitude (Mw) 6.6 earthquake occurred in the Lushan region of southwestern China and caused more than 190 fatalities. In this study, we use geodetic data from nearly 30 continuously operating global positioning system (GPS) stations, two periods of leveling data, and interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) observations to image the coseismic deformation of the Lushan earthquake. By using the Helmert variance component estimation method, a joint inversion is performed to estimate source parameters by using these GPS, leveling, and InSAR data sets. The results indicate that the 2013 Lushan earthquake occurred on a blind thrust fault. The event was dominated by thrust faulting with a minor left-lateral strike–slip component. The dip angle of the seismogenic fault was approximately 45.0°, and the fault strike was 208°, which is similar to the strike of the southern Longmenshan fault. Our finite fault model reveals that the peak slip of 0.71 m occurred at a depth of ~12 km, with substantial slip at depths of 6–20 km. The estimated magnitude was approximately Mw 6.6, consistent with seismological results. Furthermore, the calculated static Coulomb stress changes indicate that the 2013 Lushan earthquake may have been statically triggered by the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

On 28 August 2009, one thrust-faulting Mw 6.3 earthquake struck the northern Qaidam basin, China. Due to the lack of ground observations in this remote region, this study presents high-precision and high spatio-temporal resolution post-seismic deformation series with a small baseline subset InSAR technique. At the temporal scale, this changes from fast to slow with time, with a maximum uplift up to 7.4 cm along the line of sight 334 days after the event. At the spatial scale, this is more obvious at the hanging wall than that at the footwall, and decreases from the middle to both sides at the hanging wall. We then propose a method to calculate the correlation coefficient between co-seismic and post-seismic deformation by normalizing them. The correlation coefficient is found to be 0.73, indicating a similar subsurface process occurring during both phases. The results indicate that afterslip may dominate the post-seismic deformation during 19-334 days after the event, which mainly occurs with the fault geometry and depth similar to those of the c-seismic rupturing, and partly extends to the shallower and deeper depths.
