Biochar is a soil amendment that has the potential to effectively improve soil salinization. However, there is a paucity of studies on sodium adsorption using biochar, and the adsorption mechanism remains unclear. To better understand the adsorption mechanism of Na+ on the surface of biochar, both pyrochar and hydrochar were produced at different temperatures. The capacity and influencing factors of Na+ adsorption in biochar were analyzed via batch adsorption experiments. Pore filling dominated the Na+ adsorption in the concentration of the NaCl solution when it was ≤100 mg/L, where wheat straw pyrochar (WB, 3.95–4.94 mg/g Na) and poplar wood chip pyrochar (PB, 0.62–0.70 mg/g Na) presented the release and adsorption of Na+, respectively. When the concentration of the NaCl solution was >100 mg/L, the adsorption capacity of WB (25.44–36.45 mg/g) was significantly higher than PB (4.46–6.23 mg/g). Both the adsorption and release of Na+ in hydrochar was insufficient. In a high concentration of NaCl solution, ion exchange became the key mechanism determining the adsorption of Na+ in pyrochar, in which K+ contributed to more than 94% of the Na+ adsorption. The findings proposed strategies for the structural design of biochar used for Na adsorption. Glomalin-related soil protein (GRSP) is an important component of soil organic carbon (SOC), which can promote long-term SOC sequestration. However, GRSP distribution characteristics and its contribution to the SOC pool among different grassland types remain poorly understood. Therefore, six grassland types (alpine meadow, mountain meadow, temperate meadow steppe, temperate steppe, temperate desert steppe, and temperate desert) were chosen to evaluate the contribution of GRSP to the SOC pool and the factors that influence GRSP accumulation in the Irtysh River Basin in China. The results revealed that GRSP (EE-GRSP, T-GRSP) accumulated more in the 0–10 cm soil layer than in the 10–20 cm soil layer (p < 0.05). GRSP content was higher in alpine grasslands (15.69 mg·g−1) than in desert grasslands (5.45 mg·g−1). However, their contribution to the SOC pool exhibited an opposite trend, whereas GRSP-C/SOC even accounted for 11.88% in the desert grasslands. The redundancy analysis (RDA) showed that SOC was the top important positive regulator for GRSP accumulation both in the two layers (explanatory rate > 80%). Besides the SOC factor, the two soil layers had different factors in regulating GRSP accumulation. Changes in GRSP content in the 0–10 cm soil layer were more strongly associated with mean annual temperature (MAT), sand content, soil water content (SWC), and silt content. In contrast, in the 10–20 cm soil layer, GRSP content was more influenced by SWC, electrical conductivity (EC), and pH (p < 0.05). Additionally, the main factor in the GRSP content variation was the interaction between climate and soil in the two soil layers (explanatory rate > 80%). Our findings underscore the critical role of GRSP in facilitating SOC sequestration within desert grasslands and elucidate the primary factors driving GRSP distribution across varying soil depths. China has pledged to peak its CO2 emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. To meet these goals, China needs to accelerate the electrification of passenger vehicles. However, the rapid development of electric vehicles may impact the supply of critical raw materials, which may hinder the low-carbon transition. Therefore, the impact of vehicle electrification on CO2 emissions and the corresponding bottlenecks in the supply of critical raw materials should be systematically considered. In this study, we developed the China Automotive Fleet CO2 Model (CAFCM) to simulate a mixed-technology passenger vehicle fleet evolution. We further assessed the impact of energy and CO2 emissions and evaluated the demand for critical battery materials. We designed three scenarios with different powertrain type penetration rates to depict the potential uncertainty. The results showed that (1) the CO2 emissions of passenger vehicles in both the operation stage and the fuel cycle can peak before 2030; (2) achieving the dual carbon goals will lead to a rapid increase in the demand for critical raw materials for batteries and lead to potential supply risks, especially for cobalt, with the cumulative demand for cobalt for new energy passenger vehicles in China being 5.7 to 7.3 times larger than China's total cobalt reserves; and (3) the potential amount of critical material recycled from retired power batteries will rapidly increase but will not be able to substantially alleviate the demand for critical materials before 2035. Cleaning is one of the most important steps in the harvesting process, and the prolonged and high-load operation of the vibrating sieve can decrease its reliability. To uncover the structural flaws of the cleaning sieve in the crawler combine harvester and establish a foundation for quality inspection, this paper proposes a method for durability testing and analysis using vibration and strain signals. Via the modal analysis of the cleaning sieve, the most susceptible areas for fault signals are identified. Subsequently, a specialized test rig exclusively designed for the examination of the durability of the cleaning sieve is constructed. After following 96 h of uninterrupted operation, the vibration plate of the cleaning sieve sustains damage, resulting in atypical noise. A signal analysis reveals that the primary vibration signal of the cleaning sieve primarily consists of a fundamental frequency of 5 Hz, corresponding to the driving speed, as well as a frequency doubling signal of 50 Hz. After the occurrence of damage, the peak amplitude of the received vibration signal increases by over 86.3%. Furthermore, the strain gauge sensor situated on the support plate of the rear sieve detects anomalous signals with frequencies exceeding 300 Hz, which are accompanied by a considerable rise in the power spectral density. The influences of feedstocks on biochar properties are widely reported. However, the influence of the transformation of biomass components (mainly cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin) during feedstock pyrolysis on the obtained biochar has not been clearly stated. Here, biochar was pyrolyzed from four biomass types with different fractions of the three main components, of which surface area, pore structure, functional group, and thermogravimetric analyses were conducted. Further, we investigated the links among the physicochemical properties and water-holding capacity (WHC) of the biochar by measuring the WHC of a biochar–silica-sand (SS) mixture. Cellulose and hemicellulose were considered the easily pyrolyzable components of the feedstock owing to their low thermal stabilities. Additionally, the thermal decomposition of the easily pyrolyzable components caused the disappearance of most functional groups from the biochar that was synthesized at >350 °C. Moreover, the WHC of the biochar–SS mixture correlated significantly with the surface area and pore volumes of the biochar. Notably, the thermal residual mass and the WHC of the biochar–SS mixture exhibited the strongest correlation. Poplar wood sawdust (PT), which accounted for the highest mesopore volume of the biochar sample, contained the highest amount (86.09%) of the easily pyrolyzable components. The PT-derived biochar exhibited superior WHC than other biochar types, indicating that the dehydration, deoxygenation, and condensation of the easily pyrolyzable components of biomasses promoted gradual pore formation, further contributing to the increased WHC of the mixture. Rather than high-temperature-pyrolyzed biochar, PT350 demonstrated the highest WHC (599 mg/g), revealing that attention should be drawn to the contribution of low-temperature-pyrolyzed biochar to soil water retention in future research. Landscape ecological risk is considered the basis for regional ecosystem management decisions. Thus, it is essential to understand the spatial and temporal evolutionary patterns and drivers of landscape ecological risk. However, existing studies lack exploration of the long-term time series and driving mechanisms of landscape ecological risk. Based on multi-type remote sensing data, this study assesses landscape pattern changes and ecological risk in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area from 1990 to 2020 and ranks the driving factors using a geographical detector. We then introduce the geographically weighted regression model to explore the local spatial contributions of driving factors. Our results show: (1) From 1990 to 2020, the agricultural land decreased, while forest and construction land expanded in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area. The overall landscape pattern shifted toward aggregation. (2) The landscape ecological risk exhibited a decreasing trend. The areas with relatively high landscape ecological risk were primarily concentrated in the main urban area in the western region of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area and along the Yangtze River, with apparent spatial aggregation. (3) Social and natural factors affected landscape ecological risk. The main driving factors were human interference, annual average temperature, population density, and annual precipitation; interactions occurred between the drivers. (4) The influence of driving factors on landscape ecological risk showed spatial heterogeneity. Spatially, the influence of social factors (human interference and population density) on landscape ecological risk was primarily positively correlated. Meanwhile, the natural factors' (annual average temperature and annual precipitation) influence on landscape ecological risk varied widely in spatial distribution, and the driving mechanisms were more complex. When processing wet rice, the efficiency of the combine harvester diminishes due to the heightened surface water content of the paddy. To address this, a hot air flow cleaning apparatus was engineered, and the effects of its operational parameters on cleaning performance were investigated. Outlet temperature, fan speed, louver sieve temperature, louver sieve inclination, and eccentric wheel speed were selected as experimental factors, and a single-factor test was carried out, with cleaning loss rate and impurity rate as test indexes. The results of the single-factor test show that louver sieve inclination and eccentric wheel speed had no obvious influence on the cleaning loss rate or impurity rate. The cleaning loss rate decreased with the increase in outlet temperature and louver sieve temperature but increased with the increase in fan speed. The cleaning impurity rate increased with the increase in outlet temperature and louver sieve temperature but decreased with the increase in fan speed. Based on the results of the single-factor test, a central composite rotatable test was adopted to attain the optimal operation parameters of the hot air flow cleaning equipment. Parameters like outlet temperature, fan speed, and louver sieve temperature were established as test factors, with the loss and impurity rates chosen as the evaluation metrics. Optimization using response surface methodology yielded the following parameters: an outlet temperature of 40.7 °C, a fan speed of 1300 rpm, and a louver sieve temperature of 50 °C. Under these conditions, the loss rate was observed to be 0.75% and the impurity rate stood at 1.75%. Understanding the spatial distribution of irrigated croplands is crucial for food security and water use. To map land cover classes with high-spatial-resolution images, it is necessary to analyze the semantic information of target objects in addition to the spectral or spatial–spectral information of local pixels. Deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) can characterize the semantic features of objects adaptively. This study uses DCNNs to extract irrigated croplands from Sentinel-2 images in the states of Washington and California in the United States. We integrated the DCNNs of 101 layers, discarded pooling layers, and employed dilation convolution to preserve location information; these are models which were used based on fully convolutional network (FCN) architectures. The findings indicated that irrigated croplands may be effectively detected at various phases of crop growth in the fields. A quantitative analysis of the trained models revealed that the three models in the two states had the lowest values of Intersection over Union (IoU) and Kappa, i.e., 0.88 and 0.91, respectively. The deep models' temporal portability across different years was acceptable. The lowest values of recall and OA (overall accuracy) from 2018 to 2021 were 0.91 and 0.87, respectively. In Washington, the lowest OA value from 10 to 300 m resolution was 0.76. This study demonstrates the potential of FCNs + DCNNs approaches for mapping irrigated croplands across large regions, providing a solution for irrigation mapping. Soil aggregates, as the basic component of soil, make great contributions to the stability of soil structure and soil carbon (C) sequestration. Recently, grasslands have been experiencing continuous grazing, which has had a significant impact on soil aggregation and soil C storage. However, how soil aggregates and soil C in different grasslands respond to grazing remains unclear. Therefore, three national fenced grassland-monitoring sites that represented mountain meadow (MM), temperate steppe (TS), and temperate steppe desert (TSD) were selected to investigate the differences in the responses of soil aggregates and soil C among grazing of different types of grasslands. Soil samples of 0–10 cm was collected from both inside and outside the fence of each site to analyze soil properties and soil aggregate characteristics. The results showed that soil nutrients varied greatly among the three grassland types, with the highest values in MM. At each site, grazing increased the content of sand and decreased the contents of silt and clay compared to fenced plots. Soil aggregate composition showed significant responses to both grassland type and grazing, especially the proportions of soil aggregates >2 mm, which significantly decreased by 51.7% on average in grazing plots compared with fenced plots. A significant decrease (on average, 25.1%) in the mean weight diameter (MWD) of soil aggregates under grazing was detected across all grassland types. The effect of grazing on nutrients in macroaggregates (>0.25 mm) was greater than that in microaggregates (<0.25 mm). Aggregate-associated SOC concentration decreased under grazing in MM and TS. However, grazing had no significant influence on the SOC density of MM, while it led to a significant decrease in TS and an increase in TSD. The magnitude of grazing effect size on aggregate-associated SOC varied with different soil particle sizes, with greater responses in aggregates >2 mm and the biggest value in TDS. In addition, the results of the correlation analysis and redundancy analysis (PDA) indicated that soil bulk density and nutrients made the main contribution to soil composition and stability of soil aggregates. In order to solve the problem of the threshing performance of a large combine harvester being reduced due to the non-adjustable diameter of the threshing drum, a variable-diameter threshing drum with movable radial plates based on the principle of concentric regulation was studied. It was mainly composed of a mechanism for adjusting the diameter by moving the radial plates, six fixed threshing tooth rods, six retractable threshing tooth rods and the single piston rod hollow hydraulic cylinder. The threshing gap can be adjusted by a stepless change of the drum diameter. By using RecurDyn simulation and field performance tests, the adjustable ranges of diameter and gap of the movable variable-diameter threshing drum were 670~710 mm and 10~30 mm. Based on the feed amount of the combine, the rotation speed of the threshing drum and the threshing gap (the diameter of the drum) as the influencing parameters, and the grain entrainment loss rate, grain un-threshed rate and grain breakage rate as the evaluation indexes, the three-factor and three-level response surface tests were carried out, and the result data were analyzed using Design-Expert 13.0. The optimal threshing gap and rotation speed of the threshing drum were determined under different feeding quantities. A comparative test was carried out to adjust and fix the threshing gap and rotation speed of the threshing drum in real time according to the change in feeding amount. The results showed that when the working parameter combination under different feeding amounts was adjusted in real time, the entrainment loss rate was 0.65%, the un-threshed rate was 0.063% and the breakage rate was 0.47%. Compared with the threshing gap and the rotation speed of the threshing drum being fixed, the entrainment loss rate, the un-threshed rate and the breakage rate were reduced by 44.9%, 27.6% and 34.1%, respectively. Rice lodging not only brings trouble to harvesting but also reduces yield. Therefore, the effective identification of rice lodging is of great significance. In this paper, we have designed a bilinear interpolation upsampling feature fusion module (BIFF) to decompose the quadruple upsampling of the connected part of encoder and decoder into two double upsampling processes and insert the intermediate feature layer in the backbone network for feature fusion in this process. The global attention mechanism(GAM) attention module is added to the feature extraction network, allowing the network to effectively focus on the lodging regions, thus effectively improving the segmentation effect. The average accuracy of the improved network is 93.55%, mrecall is 93.65%, and mIoU is 88.10%, and the feasibility of the improvement is demonstrated by ablation experiments and comparison with other algorithms. In addition, the angle calculation method is designed by combining the detection algorithm, adding a detection head branch to the output results for reading the distance information from the depth camera, and combining the distance information with mechanical analysis to determine the relationship between the angle of the stalk and the vertical direction when the rice is upright, tilted and fallen. A comparison of the calculated angle with the actual measured angle gives a final average error of approximately 5.364%, indicating that the harvest boundary extraction algorithm in this paper is highly accurate and has value for application in real-time harvesting scenarios. The spatial distribution of cotton fields is primary information for national farm management, the agricultural economy and the textile industry. Therefore, accurate cotton information at the regional scale is required with a rapid increase due to the chance provided by the huge amounts of satellite images accumulated in recent decades. Research has started to introduce the phenology characteristics shown at special growth phases of cotton but frequently focuses on limited vegetation indices with less consideration on the whole growth period. In this paper, we investigated a set of phenological and time-series features with optimization depending on each feature permutation's importance and redundancy, followed by its performance evaluation through the cotton extraction using the Random Forest (RF) classifier. Three sets of 31 features are involved: (1) phenological features were determined by the biophysical and biochemical characteristics in the spectral space of cotton during each of its five distinctive phenological stages, which were identified from 2307 representative cotton samples using 21,237 Sentinel-2 images; (2) three typical vegetation indices were functionalized into time-series features by harmonic analysis; (3) three terrain factors were derived from the digital elevation model. Our analysis of feature determination revealed that the most valuable discriminators for cotton involve the boll opening stage and harmonic coefficients. Moreover, both qualitative and quantitative validation were performed to evaluate the retrieval of the optimized features-based cotton information. Visual examination of the map exhibited high spatial consistency and accurate delineation of the cotton field. Quantitative comparison indicates that classification of RF-coupled optimized features achieves improved overall accuracy 5.53% higher than that which works with either the limited vegetation indices. Compared with all 31 features, the optimized features realized greater identification accuracy while using only about half the number of features. Compared with test samples, the cotton map achieved an overall accuracy greater than 98% and a kappa more than 0.96. Further comparison of the cotton map area at the county-level showed a high level of consistency with the National Bureau of Statistics data from 2020, with R2 over 0.96, RMSE no more than 14.62 Kha and RRMSE less than 17.78%. The high uniform magnetic field combined with pre-deformation and vacuum heat treatment processing is designed for improving the diffusion bonding properties of the 1420 Al-Li alloy. Serial magneto-thermal coupling treatment experiments of 1420 Al-Li alloy and the pure aluminium diffusion couple, together with the gallium interlayer, is carried out in a superconducting high magnetic field device. Various parameter combinations are used to produce different samples on which interface organization and connection performance are studied. Electron microscopic analysis reveals various interface topographies and fracture morphologies after shear strength tests. Influence of diffusion bonding temperature on element diffusion under a high uniform magnetic field is investigated. The diffusion activation energy of Mg element in pure aluminum under a 12 T magnetic field is calculated in this paper. It is found that the bonding quality and bonding performance of the interface are improved greatly after heat treatment with a strong magnetic field, and the bonding temperature is an important factor affecting the interface bonding and bonding strength. The diffusion coefficient of the Mg element in the 1420 Al-Li alloy to L2 pure aluminum increases with the increase of diffusion bonding temperature. Ego-motion estimation is a foundational capability for autonomous combine harvesters, supporting high-level functions such as navigation and harvesting. This paper presents a novel approach for estimating the motion of a combine harvester from a sequence of stereo images. The proposed method starts with tracking a set of 3D landmarks which are triangulated from stereo-matched features. Six Degree of Freedom (DoF) ego motion is obtained by minimizing the reprojection error of those landmarks on the current frame. Then, local bundle adjustment is performed to refine structure (i.e., landmark positions) and motion (i.e., keyframe poses) jointly in a sliding window. Both processes are encapsulated into a two-threaded architecture to achieve real-time performance. Our method utilizes a stereo camera, which enables estimation at true scale and easy startup of the system. Quantitative tests were performed on real agricultural scene data, comprising several different working paths, in terms of estimating accuracy and real-time performance. The experimental results demonstrated that our proposed perception system achieved favorable accuracy, outputting the pose at 10 Hz, which is sufficient for online ego-motion estimation for combine harvesters. The single HST (Hydro Static Transmission) mechanical differential transmission gearbox of crawler combine harvester is subjected to the impact of alternating loads in the field operation, resulting in its fatigue failure. The traditional durability fatigue test can improve the fault-free working time of machinery, but it is not suitable for agricultural machinery with time-varying load frequency bandwidth and stress amplitude. Therefore, in this paper, a fault diagnosis method based on order analysis was proposed considering the comprehensive influence of load amplitude and frequency on the fatigue life of gearbox. The location and the corresponding type of fault were found by comparing the spectral line peak changed before and after. Then, the test verification was carried out on the gearbox assembly fatigue test bench according to the compiled load spectrum. The results show that the analysis results of the fault diagnosis method based on order analysis were consistent with the unpacking inspection, which had reference significance for the research on the fault diagnosis method of the crawler combined harvester gearbox. To improve the seeding qualification rate and stability of the air-suction vibrating disc type seed meter on the rice seedling raising line, in this paper, an improved wireless sensor network node layout optimization algorithm was proposed, and the operation monitoring system of the seed meter was designed using the Internet of Things and configuration software. In the system, the upper computer software adopted the Kingview software, the lower computer took the STM32F429IGT and CC2530 as the core controllers, and ZigBee was selected for data transmission to build the wireless sensor network. The acquisition of field status information and the sending of control instructions were realized through the sensor nodes constructed by the CC2530 core controller. The data was sent to the coordinator node in real-time through the wireless sensor network. The coordinator node realized the bidirectional transmission of data with Kingview and the upper computer control instructions forwarding using the ASCII protocol The host computer monitoring and management software was developed based on configuration software to realize real-time data monitoring, access database storage, fault alarm, control command sending and other functions. The experimental results showed that the detection accuracy of the system for the seeding amount and missed seeding amount was 94.3% and 95.6%, respectively, which could realize the monitoring of the primary working status of the seed meter. The system realized effective data transmission and data remote wireless transmission function, which provided sufficient theoretical and data support for the performance optimization of the seed meter, and laid a good foundation for the visualization and intelligence of information data. Understanding the impacts and extent of both climate change and human activities on ecosystems is crucial to sustainable development. With low anti-interference ability, arid and semi-arid ecosystems are particularly sensitive to disturbances from both climate change and human activities. We investigated how and to what extent climate variation and human activities influenced major indicators that are related to ecosystem functions and conditions in the past decades in Xinjiang, a typical arid and semi-arid region in China. We analyzed the changing trends of evapotranspiration (ET), gross primary productivity (GPP) and leaf area index (LAI) derived from the Moderate-Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) satellite product and the Breathing Earth System Simulator (BESS) model in Xinjiang for different climate zones. We separated and quantified the contributions of climate forcing and human activities on the trends of the studied ecosystem indicators using the residual analysis method for different climate zones in Xinjiang. The results show that GPP and LAI increased and ET decreased from 2001 to 2015 in Xinjiang. Factors that dominate the changes in ecosystem indicators vary considerably across different climate zones. Precipitation plays a positive role in impacting vegetation indicators in arid and hyper-arid zones and temperature has a negative correlation with both GPP and LAI in hyper-arid zones in Xinjiang. Results based on residual analysis indicate that human activities could account for over 72% of variation in the changes in each ecosystem indicator. Human activities have large impacts on each vegetation indicator change in hyper-arid and arid zones and their relative contribution has a mean value of 79%. This study quantifies the roles of climate forcing and human activities in the changes in ecosystem indicators across different climate zones, suggesting that human activities largely influence ecosystem processes in the arid and semi-arid regions of Xinjiang in China. In this study, the interactions of magnesium (Mg) atom and Mg(001) surface with different metal-atom-doped graphene were investigated using a density functional theory (DFT) method. For the interactions of magnesium with Al-, Mn-, Zn-, and Zr-doped and intrinsic graphene, it was found that the magnesium atoms were physisorbed into the hollow sites of the intrinsic graphene with only the smallest interaction energy (approximately −1.900 eV). However, the magnesium atoms tended to be chemisorbed on the doped graphene, which exhibited larger interaction energies and charge transfers. Additionally, the Zn-doped graphene displayed the largest interaction energy with the Mg atom (approximately −3.833 eV). For the interactions of Mg(001) with Al-, Mn-, Zn-, and Zr-doped and intrinsic graphene (intrinsic and doped graphene/Mg interface), doped atoms interacted with a Mg layer to make graphene wrinkle, resulting in a higher specific surface area and better stability. Mg–C chemical bonds were formed at the Al-, Zn-, and Zr-doped interface, and Mg–Mn chemical bonds were formed at the Mn-doped interface. Among food crops, rice has the largest planting area, the highest yield per unit area and the largest total yield in China. However, cleaning performance is reduced by the high moisture content of rice during the harvesting process. In order to decrease the adhesion among wet rice threshed mixtures and improve the cleaning performance, the method of hot airflow cleaning was proposed. Firstly, the fluidization characteristics of wet sticky rice under the action of hot air were compared with those of dry particles. In this work, the minimum suspension velocity and the fastest suspension time were used and quantified to characterize the fluidization characteristics. It was found that the minimum suspension velocity and the fastest suspension time of the wet rice threshed mixture are both higher than those of dry particles due to the liquid bridge force. Moreover, the dispersion degree of the wet rice threshed mixture can be improved by the hot airflow due to the decrease in the surface water content of impurities. Secondly, the influence of the temperature and vibration frequency in the air-and-screen cleaning device on the dispersion characteristics of the wet rice threshed mixture were investigated. The accumulation mass was measured to quantify the dispersion degree. It was found that the increase in vibration frequency has little effect on the dispersion of the wet rice threshed mixture. The accumulation mass on the front of the sieve decreases slightly with the increase in the gas temperature range from ambient temperature to 30 °C. Then, the dispersion degree increases rapidly when the temperature exceeds 40 °C. The dispersion effect is the best when the temperature is 50 °C and the vibration frequency is 5 Hz. The two-sheet hollow structure of the 1420 Al-Li alloy was prepared by the method of superplastic forming and diffusion bonding. The interface combination status of the diffusion bonding region and the microstructure of the superplastic forming region were observed by an optical microscope. The thickness distribution of the superplastic forming region was measured by an ultrasonic thickness meter machine, the defect detection was tested by X-ray nondestructive inspection, and the failure modes of the samples were analyzed. The results showed that the two-sheet hollow structure of the 1420 Al-Li alloy was prepared successfully, the structure was integrated, and there were no shape defects such as pit, wrinkle, and collapse. The structure shape was almost attached to the die completely, and the thickness was almost uniform distribution. The no deforming area of the two-sheet hollow structure of the 1420 Al-Li alloy was a long strip, rolled microstructure, while the grains near the round corner area were equiaxed states resulting from dynamic recrystallization. The improper control of the superplastic gas pressure in the forming process would lead to the tearing or the die-attaching failure for the two-sheet hollow structure of the 1420 Al-Li alloy. The threshing gap of the thresher device for rice combine harvester has to be adjusted in real time based on different feed rates to ensure the operation efficiency in the harvesting process. However, adjusting the threshing gap by changing the position of concave grid may result in unevenness of threshing gap of the thresher device and further impact on the fluidity of material in the thresher device; in addition, it is also unavailable to adjust the threshing gap by changing the drum diameter when the rice combine harvester is in operation. In view of the above and based on axial flow threshing drum, the design of a variable-diameter threshing drum available for overall and rapid drum diameter adjustment and the research on diameter adjustment device as well as electronic control self-locking device were introduced in this study. Besides, stress analysis was implemented to the diameter adjustment device to ensure the stability of the variable-diameter threshing drum. Field experiment was implemented to identify the difference between the impacts brought to the threshing performance (grain-entrainment loss rate, damage rate, threshing efficiency, and threshing power consumption) by both methods for threshing gap adjustment. The experiment result shows that the drum adjustment method with variable-diameter drum features higher grain-entrainment loss rate, threshing efficiency, and threshing power consumption, yet stable in terms of consumption fluctuation, but a lower damage rate than their counterparts with concave adjustment method. Harvesting main crop rice with a wide header at a required height can increase its ratoon crop yield by decreasing the stubble rolling rate. However, an increased harvest width brings in more input material in a specific time, causing the size enlargement or working speed slowdown of harvesters. To solve this issue, a double-cutterbar structure was proposed. To provide a design baseline for the structure, the cutterbar configuration methods based on rice plant deformation were developed and verified, stalk shearing tests were conducted, and a double-cutterbar prototype was fabricated and tested. The results indicated that the methods developed for the configuration of the upper and lower cutterbars could considerably implement their functions of lowering the straw-grain ratio and keeping stubble height as required. The shearing tests indicated that the bevel angle significantly influenced the total shearing energy on each cutting point in Internode 2 and 3 (p < 0.05) due to the increased stalk cross sectional area. The stubble rolling rate, panicle straw length and stubble height of the developed harvester were 26.9 %, 125 ± 80 mm and 332 ± 22 mm, respectively, which could meet the requirements of main crop rice harvesting. This paper deals with the numerical calculation method of deflection deformation of rice stalks. Due to large deflection of rice stalks caused by reel operation, it is improper to adopt the conventional formula that is usually used in small deflection calculation to fit rice stalk deformation curves. Therefore, a large deflection calculation formula in combination with Simpson's formula was utilized to compute flexural rigidity (EI) and to fit curves. The experiments were conducted under different loads (0.03, 0.04, 0.05, 0.06, and 0.07 N) on a self-established deflection testing rig to verify this method. As a result, the measured results corresponded considerably to ones predicted by this method; furthermore, the flexural rigidity was maintained at a stable level under different loads. The main working parts of the cleaning device of a rice combine harvester can be controlled by an established control strategy in real time based on the monitored grain sieve loss. This is an efficient way to improve their cleaning adaptability, since as a consequence, the main working parameters of combine harvesters can automatically adapt to crop and environment changes, and the corresponding cleaning performance can be improved. To achieve the target of cleaning control based on the monitored grain sieve loss, a fuzzy control system was developed, which selected S7-1200 PLC as the main control unit to build the lower computer hardware system, utilized ladder language to complete the system compilation, and used LabVIEW 14.0 software to design the host–computer interface. The effects of fan speed, guide plate angle, and sieve opening on the grain sieve loss and grain impurity ratio have been investigated through a large number of bench tests. The relevance level of the operating parameters on the performance parameters has been determined also, and finally, a fuzzy control model was developed for the cleaning system. The experiment results indicated that the designed fuzzy control model can control the cleaning section settings, such as fan speed and guide plate angle automatically, and reduce the grain sieve loss to some extent. The cleaning performance of the cleaning shoe of a multi-rotor combine harvester has proven to be poor owing to the threshed output entering the cleaning section in an uneven manner. Experimental results indicated that the arrangement of the guide blades on the return plate surface has a significant effect on the threshed output distribution. In this paper, DEM (discrete element method) simulations were carried out in the EDEM software to examine the effect of the height of the guide blade, the installation angle, and the number of guide blades on threshed output distribution before entering the cleaning shoe. Based on the simulated results under different guide blades arrangements, the optimum arrangement location was obtained. The simulation's results were verified by a field experiment and were consistent with the experimental results. The field experiment results indicate that the cleaning performance significantly improved with the proper guide blade arrangement. The corresponding grain impurity ratio declined significantly from 1.26% to 0.67%, and the grain sieve loss ratio, with a decrease of 53.2%, was reduced from 1.11% to 0.52%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Following the popularization of high-yielding rice in China, fast and efficient mechanized harvesting proved challenging. In addition, the physical characteristics of rice grains and stems are substantially affected during harvest by the field environment and harvest time. However, the combine harvester driver is focused on maximizing the outputs and does not consider the adverse effects of these factors during the rice harvest. Methods: We investigated the effects of the harvest time, spatial position, and temperature on the static friction coefficient of rice grains and stems of high-yielding rice using a field experiment. Results: The result difference in the static friction coefficient between the parallel and perpendicular placements of the rice stem on the steel plate was 9%, indicating that the contact configuration had a significant impact. The region, harvest time, and temperature significantly affected the static friction characteristics of the rice grains and stems. The most significant differences were observed in the X-direction. Conclusions: The optimum harvest time was 10:11 a.m.–3:30 p.m. and the optimum temperature was above 16.5 °C. A quantitative analysis of the effects of the harvest time and temperature on the static friction characteristics of rice provides reliable data for machine design optimization and standardization of harvests operations. In order to meet the requirements of multi-crop harvesting, reduce the loss of harvesting, and improve the quality of harvesting, the device and method of matching and adjusting the rotation speed and forward speed of the pulling reel were designed. On the premise of satisfying the matching regulation, the parameters of the rotary wheel and the cutting table were adjusted so that the rotational speed ratio λ of the harvest crop was in the suitable range of the rotational speed ratio of the crop. The speed ratio was designed as a suitable interval of different crops by experiments and experience, and, in order to meet the requirements, it was designed to optimize the wheel speed. The speed-matching was designed, and through the experiments on the wheel-speed-adjustment error, which was less than 2%, it was designed to meet the design requirements. Crop-harvesting experiments were carried out under rotational speed-matching and a random speed, and the experimental results showed that the loss rate under rotational speed-matching was significantly lower than that under random speeds; the tests showed that the wheel speed designed with speed-matching can effectively reduce the loss rate. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), which form symbioses with most land plants, could benefit their hosts and potentially play important roles in revegetation of degraded lands. However, their application in revegetation of desert grasslands still faces challenges and uncertainties due to the unclear specificity of AMF-plant interactions. Here, Caragana korshinskii and Caragana microphylla were inoculated with either conspecific (home) or heterospecific (away) AM fungal communities from the rhizosphere of three common plant species (C. korshinskii, C. microphylla and Hedysarum laeve) in Kubuqi Desert, China. AMF communities of the inocula and their home and away effects on growth and nutrition status of two Caragana species were examined. Results showed that AMF communities of the three inocula from C. korshinskii, H. laeve and C. microphylla were significantly different, and were characterized by high abundance of Diversispora, Archaeospora, and Glomus, respectively. The shoot biomass, photosynthetic rate, foliar N and P contents of C. korshinskii only significantly increased under home AMF inoculation by 167.10%, 73.55%, 9.24%, and 23.87%, respectively. However, no significant effects of AMF on C. microphylla growth were found, regardless of home or away AMF. Positive correlations between C. korshinskii biomass and the abundance of AMF genus Diversispora were found. Our study showed strong home advantage of using native AMF community to enhance C. korshinskii growth in the desert and presented a potentially efficient way to use native AMF in restoration practices. S concentric threshing device can improve rice crop separation and transportation capabilities. As one of the main factors affecting the threshing performance of rice combine harvesters, the threshing gap can influence the grain unthreshed rate and the grain damage rate directly. However, the clearance between any threshing cylinder tooth and the concave grid is constant for the traditional threshing device, named the single threshing gap in this paper, resulting in a consistently high total loss rate (the sum of unthreshed and damaged grains). Therefore, multi-threshing gaps are proposed in this paper for the concentric threshing device to solve the above problem. To compare the threshing performance between the single threshing gap and the multi-threshing gaps, the movement process of rice mixture (grain, short straw, and long straw) was simulated using the discrete element method (DEM). The simulation results showed that the separation and transportation abilities of the multi-threshing gaps were not decreased, but the distribution of threshed output mixture was more even for the multi-threshing gaps. Furthermore, a field experiment was also carried out on a combine harvester to compare the total loss rate. The experiment results showed that the total loss rate of the concentric threshing device with multi-threshing gaps was reduced by 0.0593%, which was 5.77% less than the total loss rate of the concentric threshing device with a single threshing gap. The main reason for the massive loss of rapeseed in mechanized harvesting is the mismatch between the harvester requirements and the pod shatter resistance and plant branching characteristics. Low pod resistance, entanglement caused by excessive branches, and inconsistent pod maturity are primary mismatch problems. However, studies on rape characteristics by integrating agricultural machinery and agronomy are limited. A total of 15 varieties were planted for research from 2016 to 2018. In this paper, the Two-Degree-of-Freedom (2-DOF) collision method was adopted to evaluate the pod shatter resistance taken from the field, and the plant agronomic characteristics and their correlation were investigated. In 2020, a screened variety of C6009 with higher shatter resistance and suitable plant features for mechanized harvesting was planted in large areas and harvested by machines for verification. The test results demonstrated that the compact plant varieties with high branches might be more favorable for yield and shatter resistance. The field harvest loss of the screened variety was significantly less than that of the control group. It provides a reliable reference for agronomic experts in terms of rape variety improvement and agricultural machinery experts regarding the optimization of rape harvesters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Optical remote sensing indices play an important role in vegetation information extraction and have been widely serving ecology, agriculture and forestry, urban monitoring, and other communities. Remote sensing indices are constructed from individual bands depending on special characteristics to enhance the typical spectral features for the identification or distinction of surface land covers. With the development of quantitative remote sensing, there is a rapid increasing requirement for accurate data processing and modeling. It is well known that the geometry-induced variation observed in surface reflectance is not ignorable, but the situation of uncertainty thereby introduced into these indices still needs further detailed understanding. We adopted the ground multi-angle hyperspectrum, spectral response function (SRF) of Thematic Mapper (TM), Enhanced Thematic Mapper (ETM+), Operational Land Imager (OLI), Moderate-Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), and Multi-Spectral Instrument (MSI) optical sensors and simulated their sensor-like spectral reflectance; then, we investigated the potential angle effect uncertainty on optical indices that have been frequently involved in vegetation monitoring and examined the forward/backward effect over both the ground-based level and the actual Landsat TM/ETM+ overlapped region. Our results on the discussed indices and sensors show as following: (1) Identifiable angle effects exist with a more elevated influence than that introduced by band difference among sensors; (2) The absolute difference between forward and backward direction can reach up to −0.03 to 0.1 within bands of the TM/ETM+ overlapped region; (3) The investigation at ground level indicates that there are different variations of angle effect transmitted to each remote sensing index. Regarding cases of crop canopy at various growth phases, most of the discussed indices have more than a 20% relative difference to nadir value except Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) with the magnitude lower than 10%, and less than 16% of Normalized Burn Ratio (NBR). For the case of wax maturity stage, the relative difference to nadir value of Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI), Soil-Adjusted Vegetation Index (SAVI), Ratio Vegetation Index (RVI), Char Soil Index (CSI), NBR, Normalized Difference Moisture Index (NDMI), and SWIR2/NIR exceeded 50%, while the values for NBR and NDMI can reach up to 115.8% and 206.7%, respectively; (4) Various schemes of index construction imply different propagation of angle effect uncertainty. The "difference" indices can partially suppress the directional influence, while the "ratio" indices show high potential to amplify the angle effect. This study reveals that the angle-induced uncertainty of these indices is greater than that induced by the spectrum mismatch among sensors, especially under the case of senescence. In addition, based on this work, indices with a suppressed potential of angle effect are recommended for vegetation monitoring or information retrieval to avoid unexpected effects. The grouser height and soil conditions have a considerable influence on the tractive performance of single-track shoe. A soil bin-based research was conducted to assess the influence of grouser height on the tractive performance of single-track shoe at different moisture contents of clay loam soil. Eight moisture contents (7.5, 12, 16.7, 21.5, 26.2, 30.7, 35.8, and 38%) and three grouser heights (45, 55, and 60 mm) were comprised during this study. The tractive performance parameters of (thrust, running resistance, and traction) were determined by penetration test. A sensor-based soil bin was designed for penetration tests, which was included penetration system (AC motor, loadcell, and displacement sensor). The test results revealed that soil cohesion was decreased, and adhesion was increased after 16.7% moisture content. Soil thrust at lateral sides and bottom of grouser were increased before 16.7%, and then decreased for all the three heights but the major decrease was observed at 45 mm height. The motion resistance was linearly decreased, the more reduction was on 45 mm at 38% moisture content. The traction of the single-track shoe was decreased with a rise in moisture content, the maximum decrease was on 45 mm grouser height at 38% moisture content. It could be concluded that an off-road tracked vehicle (crawler combine harvester) with 45 mm grouser height of single-track shoe could be operated towards a moderate moisture content range (16.7–21.5%) under paddy soil for better traction. One of the most important means of improving the mechanization of rapeseed harvests and increasing farmers' income is to reduce the cleaning loss of rapeseed. In this study, a fuzzy grey control system was developed using an assembled cleaning loss sensor. Based on experimental data, the relationship between the cleaning loss and the opening of the louver sieve in the cleaning device was obtained. The fuzzy control scheme was established by combining grey prediction and the fuzzy control principle. Secondly, a microcontroller unit (MCU) was used as the controller, and the opening of the louver sieve was automatically regulated by detecting the signal of the cleaning loss. Finally, the performance and robustness of the control system was evaluated in field tests. Different experiments were conducted under different speed conditions to reflect the variable throughput. Results showed that using the grey prediction control system can realize the adjustment of the louver sieve opening in real time. The cleaning loss could be maintained within the ideal setpoint interval, compared with the operation with the control system switched off. These findings indicate that the application of the grey fuzzy control system reduces cleaning loss, and the nonlinear, time-variable and time delay problems in cleaning devices can be solved effectively. Leaf fragments and grain mixture produced by rice threshing with a combine harvester seriously affects the subsequent grain cleaning efficiency. In this paper, rice leaf breaking force was tested at different temperatures and moisture contents to analyze the influence of temperature on the tensile properties of rice leaves. The overlapping regions of rice leaf breaking force and grain separation force at different temperatures were obtained. Based on the rice leaf breaking force, the effect of the temperature change on rice leaf with different moisture content was analyzed. The results showed that tensile strength of rice leaf decreased first, then increased and finally decreased from rice sheath to the top. The tensile breaking force of the leaf sheath was about 75 N (N is Newton, 1 N = 1 kg·m/s²). The tensile fracture resistance of rice leaf was shown to weaken with the increase of temperature. The influence of the moisture content on the mechanical properties of rice leaf during the process of temperature change was small. At 30 to 35 °C, the blade was the strongest tensile fracture resistance, which was the lowest probability of fracture under the same stress condition. At this time, the rice grain separation force has the least coincidence with the rice leaf resistance to breakage. According to the breaking force of different blade layers, the number of blade layers has a significant linear relationship with its tensile limit. Common mycorrhizal networks (CMNs) allow the transfer of nutrients between plants, influencing the growth of the neighboring plants and soil properties. Cleistogene squarrosa (C. squarrosa) is one of the most common grass species in the steppe ecosystem of Inner Mongolia, where nitrogen (N) is often a key limiting nutrient for plant growth, but little is known about whether CMNs exist between neighboring individuals of C. squarrosa or play any roles in the N acquisition of the C. squarrosa population. In this study, two C. squarrosa individuals, one as a donor plant and the other as a recipient plant, were planted in separate compartments in a partitioned root-box. Adjacent compartments were separated by 37 µm nylon mesh, in which mycorrhizal hyphae can go through but not roots. The donor plant was inoculated with arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi, and their hyphae potentially passed through nylon mesh to colonize the roots of the recipient plant, resulting in the establishment of CMNs. The formation of CMNs was verified by microscopic examination and 15N tracer techniques. Moreover, different levels of N fertilization (N0 = 0, N1 = 7.06, N2 = 14.15, N3 = 21.19 mg/kg) were applied to evaluate the CMNs' functioning under different soil nutrient conditions. Our results showed that when C. squarrosa–C. squarrosa was the association, the extraradical mycelium transferred the 15N in the range of 45–55% at different N levels. Moreover, AM fungal colonization of the recipient plant by the extraradical hyphae from the donor plant significantly increased the plant biomass and the chlorophyll content in the recipient plant. The extraradical hyphae released the highest content of glomalin-related soil protein into the rhizosphere upon N2 treatment, and a significant positive correlation was found between hyphal length and glomalin-related soil proteins (GRSPs). GRSPs and soil organic carbon (SOC) were significantly correlated with mean weight diameter (MWD) and helped in the aggregation of soil particles, resulting in improved soil structure. In short, the formation of CMNs in this root-box experiment supposes the existence of CMNs in the typical steppe plants, and CMNs-mediated N transfer and root colonization increased the plant growth and soil properties of the recipient plant. Based on water sampling of the upper reaches of the Syr River and its tributaries from the parts of Aral Sea Basin in Kyrgyzstan, the chemical compositions of river waters were systematically analyzed for revealing the hydrochemical characteristics and evaluating the water quality. Research indicates that there are some differences in ion concentration between the low-flow season (LFS) and high-flow season (HFS), but the hydrochemical classification reflected that all water samples fall in the calcium bicarbonate category, except that only three samples fall in the not dominant category during the LFS. The water quality classification shows that the water samples fall in the excellent to good categories for irrigation use. The analysis shows that the main ions of river waters come from the weathering of rocks, and the dissolution of carbonates is higher than that of silicates. Human activities have had an impact on the waterbody, especially inferred from the indicators of NH4-N and fecal coliform (FC). FC groups were detected in some rivers, in which the detection rate at the high-water level increased. The contents of potentially toxic elements are lower than international drinking water standards, but there are clustering differences between the LFS and HFS. There may be anthropogenic intrusions of Cu, Pb, and Zn during the LFS period and of Cu, Pb, Zn, and Cd during the HFS period. The results fill the gaps in the study of the hydrochemical composition and water quality assessment in the Aral Sea Basin and will also provide a basis for water resource management and for the study of water quality evolution in the future. The water resources of Central Asia play an important role in maintaining the fragile balance of ecosystems and the sustainable development of human society. However, the lack of research on the heavy metals in river waters has a far-reaching influence on public health and the sustainable development in Central Asia. In order to reveal the possible sources of the heavy metals and to assess the associated human health risks, thirty-eight water samples were collected from the rivers of the Issyk-Kul Basin during the period with low river flow (May) and the period with high river flow (July and August), and the hydrochemical compositions and major ions of heavy metals were analyzed. No changes in hydrochemical facies were observed between the two periods and the river water type was calcium bicarbonate. Carbonate dissolution and silicate weathering controlled the variation of cations and anions in river waters from the Issyk-Kul Basin. There were some differences in the sources of heavy metals in water bodies between the two periods. During the period with low river flow, heavy metals (Cr) were closely clustered with major ions, indicating that they were mainly affected by water-rock interactions. During the period with high river flow, all heavy metals studied in this paper had different sources of major ions, and the heavy metals maybe influenced by human activities. From the human health risk assessment, the hazard quotients for all samples were less than 1, reflecting that there was no noncarcinogenic risk in the river waters of the Issyk-Kul Basin during the two sampling periods. However, the water samples with carcinogenic risk of arsenic exceeding the threshold (10 -4 ) accounted for 21.1% of the total, indicating that there were some certain carcinogenic hazards for human health via water drinking with direct oral ingestion. Grain separation losses is a key parameter to weigh the performance of combine harvesters, and also a dominant factor for automatically adjusting their major working parameters. The traditional separation losses monitoring method mainly rely on manual efforts, which require a high labor intensity. With recent advancements in sensor technology, electronics and computational processing power, this paper presents an indirect method for monitoring grain separation losses in tangential-axial combine harvesters in real-time. Firstly, we developed a mathematical monitoring model based on detailed comparative data analysis of different feeding quantities. Then, we developed a grain impact piezoelectric sensor utilizing a YT-5 piezoelectric ceramic as the sensing element, and a signal process circuit designed according to differences in voltage amplitude and rise time of collision signals. To improve the sensor performance, theoretical analysis was performed from a structural vibration point of view, and the optimal sensor structural has been selected. Grain collide experiments have shown that the sensor performance was greatly improved. Finally, we installed the sensor on a tangential-longitudinal axial combine harvester, and grain separation losses monitoring experiments were carried out in North China, which results have shown that the monitoring method was feasible, and the biggest measurement relative error was 4.63% when harvesting rice.
