This study addresses the critical challenge of predicting sediment behavior in a semi-enclosed estuary, where the interplay between artificial freshwater discharge and seawater significantly impacts turbidity. Such environments are characterized by complex hydrodynamic interactions that lead to cycles of sediment settling and resuspension, influenced by tidal forces. To tackle this problem, we employed machine learning, leveraging its capability to analyze and predict complex non-linear phenomena. Our approach involved extensive transect observations conducted over two years, encompassing 11 ebb tide and 9 flood tide cycles. These observations were crucial for training the machine learning model, ensuring it captured the nuanced dynamics of sediment behavior under varying hydrodynamic conditions. The necessity of this research lies in its potential to enhance our understanding of sediment dynamics in estuaries, a vital aspect for environmental management and engineering projects. This paper proposes a novel phase-resolved partial discharge (PRPD) sensor embedded in a MV-class bushing for high-accuracy insulation analysis. The design, fabrication, and evaluation of a PRPD sensor embedded in a MV-class bushing aimed to achieve the detection of partial discharge (PD) pulses that are phase-synchronized with the applied primary HV signal. A prototype PRPD sensor was composed of a flexible printed circuit board (PCB) with dual-sensing electrodes, utilizing a capacitive voltage divider (CVD) for voltage measurement, the D-dot principle for PD detection, and a signal transducer with passive elements. A PD simulator was prepared to emulate typical PD defects, i.e., a metal protrusion. The voltage measurement precision of the prototype PRPD sensor was satisfied with the accuracy class of 0.2 specified in IEC 61869-11, as the maximum corrected voltage error ratios and corrected phase errors in 80%, 100%, and 120% of the rated voltage (13.2 kilovolts (kV)) were less than 0.2% and 10 min, respectively. In addition, the prototype PRPD sensor had good linearity and high sensitivity for PD detection compared with a conventional electrical detection method. According to performance evaluation tests, the prototype PRPD sensor embedded in the MV-class bushing can measure PRPD patterns phase-synchronized with the primary voltage without any additional synchronization equipment or system. Therefore, the prototype PRPD sensor holds potential as a substitute for conventional commercial PD sensors. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is the primary opportunistic human pathogen responsible for a range of acute and chronic infections; it poses a significant threat to immunocompromised patients and is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality for nosocomial infections. Its high resistance to a diverse array of antimicrobial agents presents an urgent health concern. Among the mechanisms contributing to resistance in P. aeruginosa, the horizontal acquisition of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) via mobile genetic elements (MGEs) has gained recognition as a substantial concern in clinical settings, thus indicating that a comprehensive understanding of ARG dissemination within the species is strongly required for surveillance. Here, two approaches, including a systematic literature analysis and a genome database survey, were employed to gain insights into ARG dissemination. The genome database enabled scrutinizing of all the available sequence information and various attributes of P. aeruginosa isolates, thus providing an extensive understanding of ARG dissemination within the species. By integrating both approaches, with a primary focus on the genome database survey, mobile ARGs that were linked or correlated with MGEs, important sequence types (STs) carrying diverse ARGs, and MGEs responsible for ARG dissemination were identified as critical factors requiring strict surveillance. Although human isolates play a primary role in dissemination, the importance of animal and environmental isolates has also been suggested. In this study, 25 critical mobile ARGs, 45 critical STs, and associated MGEs involved in ARG dissemination within the species, are suggested as critical factors. Surveillance and management of these prioritized factors across the One Health sectors are essential to mitigate the emergence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) and extensively resistant (XDR) P. aeruginosa in clinical settings. P-type Cu-Se thin films were deposited on glass substrates at room temperature using radio frequency magnetron sputtering by a single multi-component CuSe2 target. When using a multi-component target, the impact of the sputtering power on the homogeneity and stoichiometry within the thin films should be investigated in the depth direction to demonstrate a secondary effect on the electrical and optical properties of the thin films. Systematic characterization of the Cu-Se thin films, including the morphology, microstructure, chemical composition, and depth-directional chemical bonding state and defect structure of the thin films, revealed that the sputtering power played an important role in the homogeneity and stoichiometry of the thin films. At very low and very high sputtering power levels, the Cu-Se thin films exhibited more deviations from stoichiometry, while an optimized sputtering power resulted in more homogenous thin films with improved stoichiometry across the entire thin film thickness in the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy depth profile, despite showing Se deficiency at all depths. A rapid decrease in carrier concentration, indicating a reduction in the net effect of total defects, was obtained at the optimized sputtering power with less deviation from stoichiometry in the Cu-Se thin films and the closest stoichiometric ratio at an intermediate depth. Simple Summary: Inactivated foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccines are used to protect livestock against the FMD virus. However, adequate levels of antibodies to provide protection against the FMD virus cannot be rapidly produced and take a long time to develop. In this study, to solve the challenge presented by the low antibody formation following FMD vaccination in pigs, an ionic amino–zinc complex (Amino–Zn), which has high bioavailability and immunity-enhancing effects, was administered orally. The effect on the FMD vaccine structural protein (SP) antibody formation was evaluated. As a result, the FMD vaccine SP antibody titer and immune indicators (IFN-γ, IgA) were significantly higher in the FMD vaccine group administered with 0.2% Amino–Zn in the feed compared with the positive control group (FMD vaccine only) after the first and second vaccinations. These results demonstrated that administering Amino–Zn effectively improved the antibody titer induced by the FMD vaccine and the immunity of the piglets. Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a highly contagious animal disease that occurs in cloven-hoofed animals including pigs. To prevent FMD, vaccines and adjuvants are routinely used to induce an immune response; however, it requires an extended period of time to produce sufficient antibodies to prevent viral infection. In this study, we evaluated the increased effectiveness of the FMD vaccine structural protein (SP) antibody by administrating the Amino–Zn adjuvant to 100 pigs from 3 test pig farms in their feed. The FMD vaccine antibody titer and immunological index were analyzed using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit, and the hematological and blood biochemical parameters were analyzed using an automatic blood analyzer. The titer of the FMD vaccine SP antibodies in the 0.2% Amino–Zn-administered group was significantly increased compared to that of the positive control group only injected with FMD vaccine at 4 weeks after the first vaccination and at 4, 8, and 16 weeks after the second vaccination (p < 0.05). The FMD vaccine SP antibody positive rate was 100% until shipment. The IFN-γ and IgA levels were significantly increased by Amino–Zn administration 4 weeks after the first vaccination and 4 weeks after the second vaccination (p < 0.05). On the other hand, serum AST, and CPK (p < 0.001) were significantly decreased by Amino–Zn administration. These results show that the administration of Amino–Zn is effective in enhancing the antibody titer and immunogenicity of the FMD vaccine and can be used as an oral adjuvant (OrAd) to prevent viral diseases, such as FMD. Improvement in crystallinity was investigated by compensating for stoichiometric deviations of non-selenization processed Cu0.9In0.7Ga0.3Se2 (CIGS) thin films due to highly volatile Se by co-sputtering them with Te followed by rapid thermal annealing. The prepared CIGS:Te thin films did not show any linear correlation between the compositional ratio and the co-sputtering time of Te; however, the deviation parameter (Δs) from the stoichiometry and normalized stoichiometric deviations of Se + Te and In + Ga were largely consistent with the behavior of thin-film properties. The proposed method provides better crystallinity with a large grain size, clear grain boundaries, and low microstrain and dislocation density, resulting in a large volume of the unit cell. The CIGS:Te thin films used as absorbers show improved optical properties compared to the conventional CIGS thin films, with Eg = 1.548 eV. In this study, the composition of lead-free piezoelectric ceramics (1 − x)(Bi0.5Na0.5)TiO3–x(Ba0.5Sr0.5)TiO3 with excellent piezoelectric properties was investigated. Crystal analysis and electrical and piezoelectric properties were analyzed according to the content of the BST composition. A phase change from rhombohedral to tetragonal structure was observed in 0.12 BST, and the densest and most uniform microstructure was confirmed in this composition. The dielectric constant increased from 905 to 1692 as the composition of BST increased to 0.12 BST. Afterward, as the composition of BST increased, the permittivity tended to decrease. Additionally, at 0.12 BST, Pr was the highest at 23.34 μC/cm2. The piezoelectric charge constant (d33) and the electromechanical coupling coefficient (kp) were 152 pC/N and 0.37, respectively, and showed the highest values at 0.12 BST. Curie temperature (Tm) was analyzed 242 °C at 0.12 BST, the optimal composition. It was confirmed that the characteristics of 0.12 BST were excellent in all conditions. Cu2-xSe films were deposited on Corning glass substrates by radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering and annealed at 300 °C for 20 min under N2 gas ambient. The films had a thickness of 850–870 nm and a chemical composition of Cu1.75Se. The initial structure of the films was nanocrystalline with a complex architecture and pores. The investigated films were plasma treated with RF (13.56 MHz) high-density low-pressure inductively coupled argon plasma. The plasma treatment was conducted at average ion energies of 25 and 200 eV for durations of 30, 60, and 90 s. Notably, changes are evident in the surface morphology, and the chemical composition of the films changed from x = 0.25 to x = 0.10 to x = 0.00, respectively, after plasma treatment at average ion energies of 25 and 200 eV, respectively. Diamond-like carbon (DLC) thin films, prepared by a radio frequency plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) system, were investigated for application as an anti-reflective coating (ARC) for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) with a change in film thickness. The strength of the Raman spectrum, G-peak position, and ID/IG ratio, related to sp3 bonds in the DLC thin films, is directly attributed to some tribological properties including surface roughness, hardness, elastic modulus, friction coefficient, and contact angle. Some optical properties, such as transmittance, refractive index, and absorption coefficient, were examined after changing the thickness of DLC thin films. The optimal short-circuit current density (Jsc), open-circuit voltage (Voc), and fill factor (FF) values were obtained for the significantly improved conversion efficiency (CE) from 4.92% to 5.35% in the 60 nm thick PECVD DLC ARC for DSSCs with hard and hydrophobic surfaces. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), is characterized by symptoms such as fever, fatigue, a sore throat, diarrhea, and coughing. Although various new vaccines against COVID-19 have been developed, early diagnostics, isolation, and prevention remain important due to virus mutations resulting in rapid and high disease transmission. Amino acid substitutions in the major diagnostic target antigens of SARS-CoV-2 may lower the sensitivity for the detection of SARS-CoV-2. For this reason, we developed specific monoclonal antibodies that bind to epitope peptides as antigens for the rapid detection of SARS-CoV-2 NP. The binding affinity between antigenic peptides and monoclonal antibodies was investigated, and a sandwich pair for capture and detection was employed to develop a rapid biosensor for SARS-CoV-2 NP. The rapid biosensor, based on a monoclonal antibody pair binding to conserved epitopes of SARS-CoV-2 NP, detected cultured virus samples of SARS-CoV-2 (1.4 × 103 TCID50/reaction) and recombinant NP (1 ng/mL). Laboratory confirmation of the rapid biosensor was performed with clinical specimens (n = 16) from COVID-19 patients and other pathogens. The rapid biosensor consisting of a monoclonal antibody pair (75E12 for capture and the 54G6/54G10 combination for detection) binding to conserved epitopes of SARS-CoV-2 NP could assist in the detection of SARS-CoV-2 NP under the circumstance of spreading SARS-CoV-2 variants. Gallium oxide (Ga2O3) is a semiconductor with a wide bandgap of ~5.0 eV and large breakdown voltages (>8 MV·cm−1). Among the crystal phases of Ga2O3, the monoclinic β-Ga2O3 is well known to be suitable for many device applications because of its chemical and thermal stability. The crystalline quality of polycrystalline β-Ga2O3 films on c-plane sapphire substrates was studied by rapid thermal annealing (RTA) following magnetron sputtering deposition at room temperature. Polycrystalline β-Ga2O3 films are relatively simple to prepare; however, their crystalline quality needs enhancement. The β-phase was achieved at 900 °C with a crystallite size and d-spacing of 26.02 and 0.2350 nm, respectively, when a mixture of ε- and β-phases was observed at temperatures up to 800 °C. The strain was released in the annealed Ga2O3 films at 900 °C; however, the clear and uniform orientation was not perfect because of the increased oxygen vacancy in the film at that temperature. The improved polycrystalline β-Ga2O3 films with dominant (−402)-oriented crystals were obtained at 900 °C for 45 min under a N2 gas atmosphere. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The nanostructuring of the (100) PbS single crystal surface was studied under varying argon plasma treatment conditions. The initial PbS single crystals were grown by high-pressure vertical zone melting, cut into wafer samples, and polished. Subsequently, the PbS single crystals were treated with inductively coupled argon plasma under varying treatment parameters such as ion energy and sputtering time. Plasma treatment with ions at a minimum energy of 25 eV resulted in the formation of nanotips with heights of 30–50 nm. When the ion energy was increased to 75–200 eV, two types of structures formed on the surface: high submicron cones and arrays of nanostructures with various shapes. In particular, the 120 s plasma treatment formed specific cruciform nanostructures with lateral orthogonal elements oriented in four <100> directions. In contrast, plasma treatment with an ion energy of 75 eV for 180 s led to the formation of submicron quasi-spherical lead structures with diameters of 250–600 nm. The nanostructuring mechanisms included a surface micromasking mechanism with lead formation and the vapor–liquid–solid mechanism, with liquid lead droplets acting as self-forming micromasks and growth catalysts depending on the plasma treatment conditions (sputtering time and rate). Gas-insulated switchgears (GISs) are important pieces of power equipment used to improve the reliability of power facilities. As the number of GISs increases, more insulation failures occur every year. The most common cause of insulation failure is particles and foreign bodies producing a partial discharge (PD), which causes deterioration of the insulation materials and results in insulation breakdown. However, it is not easy to detect them by conventional PD and ultra-high frequency (UHF) PD measurements because it is difficult to apply the conventional method to the GISs in service, and the UHF method is not always applicable to GISs. Therefore, an appropriate method to detect particles and foreign bodies in GISs is needed. In this study, experimental validation was performed to detect particles moving in GISs using the acoustic emission (AE) method. Acoustic wave signals were produced by the particles moving on the surface of a flat plate when applying voltage. An AE sensor with a frequency range of 50 to 400 kHz was used, and a decoupler and low-noise amplifier were designed to detect the acoustic wave signals with high sensitivity. Twelve types of particles were used, and one was selected to confirm the detectable minimum output voltage. In an actual factory test, the output voltage of the acoustic wave signals was analyzed while considering the applied voltage and signal attenuation. Given the fact that diabetes remains a leading cause of end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), multi-aspect approaches anticipating the risk for ESKD and timely correction are crucial. We investigated whether fasting glucose variability (FGV) could anticipate the development of ESKD and identify the population prone to the harmful effects of GV. We included 777,192 Koreans with diabetes who had undergone health examinations more than three times in 2005–2010. We evaluated the risk of the first diagnosis of ESKD until 2017, according to the quartile of variability independent of the mean (VIM) of FG using multivariate-adjusted Cox proportional hazards analyses. During the 8-year follow-up, a total of 7290 incidents of ESKD were found. Subjects in the FG VIM quartile 4 had a 27% higher risk for ESKD compared to quartile 1, with adjustment for cardiovascular risk factors and the characteristics of diabetes. This effect was more distinct in patients aged < 65 years; those with a long duration of diabetes; the presence of hypertension or dyslipidemia; and prescribed angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, metformin, sulfonylurea, α-glucosidase inhibitors, and insulin. This paper demonstrates an integrative 3D model of short-wave infrared (SWIR) hyperspectral mapping and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based digital elevation model (DEM) for a carbonate rock outcrop including limestone and dolostone in a field condition. The spectral characteristics in the target outcrop showed the limestone well coincided with the reference spectra, while the dolostone did not show clear absorption features compared to the reference spectra, indicating a mixture of clay minerals. The spectral indices based on SWIR hyperspectral images were derived for limestone and dolostone using aluminum hydroxide (AlOH), hydroxide (OH), iron hydroxide (FeOH), magnesium hydroxide (MgOH) and carbonate ion (CO32−) absorption features based on random forest and logistic regression models with an accuracy over 87%. Given that the indices were derived from field data with consideration of commonly occurring geological units, the indices have better applicability for real world cases. The integrative 3D geological model developed by co-registration between hyperspectral map and UAV-based DEM using best matching SIFT descriptor pairs showed the 3D rock formations between limestone and dolostone. Sea surface wind plays an essential role in the simulating and predicting ocean phenomena. However, it is difficult to obtain accurate data with uniform spatiotemporal scale. A high-resolution (10 km) sea surface wind hindcast around the Korean Peninsula (KP) is presented using the weather research and forecasting model focusing on wind speed. The hindcast data for 39 years (1979–2017) are obtained by performing a three-dimensional variational analysis data assimilation, using ERA-Interim as initial and boundary conditions. To evaluate the added value of the hindcasts, the ASCAT-L2 satellite-based gridded data (DASCAT) is employed and regarded as "True" during 2008–2017. Hindcast and DASCAT data are verified using buoy observations from 1997–2017. The added value of the hindcast compared to ERA-Interim is evaluated using a modified Brier skill score method and analyzed for seasonality and wind intensity. Hindcast data primarily adds value to the coastal areas of the KP, particularly over the Yellow Sea in the summer, the East Sea in the winter, and the Korean Strait in all seasons. In case of strong winds (10–25 m·s−1), the hindcast performed better in the East Sea area. The estimation of extreme wind speeds is performed based on the added value and 50-year and 100-year return periods are estimated using a Weibull distribution. When there is a choice of materials for an application, particular emphasis should be given to the development of those that are low-cost, nontoxic, and Earth-abundant. Chalcostibite CuSbSe2 has gained attention as a potential absorber material for thin-film solar cells, since it exhibits a high absorption coefficient. In this study, CuSbSe2 thin films were deposited by radio frequency magnetron cosputtering with CuSe2 and Sb targets. A series of CuSbxSe2 thin films were prepared with different Sb contents adjusted by sputtering power, followed by rapid thermal annealing. Impurity phases and surface morphology of Cu–Sb–Se systems were directly affected by the Sb sputtering power, with the formation of volatile components. The crystallinity of the CuSbSe2 thin films was also enhanced in the near-stoichiometric system at an Sb sputtering power of 15 W, and considerable degradation in crystallinity occurred with a slight increase over 19 W. Resistivity, carrier mobility, and carrier concentration of the near-stoichiometric thin film were 14.4 Ω-cm, 3.27 cm2/V∙s, and 1.33 × 1017 cm−3, respectively. The optical band gap and absorption coefficient under the same conditions were 1.7 eV and 1.75 × 105 cm−1, which are acceptable for highly efficient thin-film solar cells. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Impurity element doping is extensively taken as one of the most efficient strategies to regulate the electronic structure as well as the rate of photogenerated charge separation of photocatalysts. Herein, a one-pot hydrothermal synthesis process was exploited to obtain La-doped ZnIn2S4 microspheres, aiming at gaining insight into the role that doping ions played in the improvement of pollutant photodegradation. Systematical characterization means, comprising of X–ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), ultraviolet–visible (UV–vis) diffuse reflection spectroscopy and Raman spectra, combination with high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), were employed to in depth reveal the concomitancy of La ions and ZnIn2S4 crystal lattice. The results showed that the La-doped ZnIn2S4 samples exhibited a slightly wider and stronger spectral absorption than pristine ZnIn2S4; and the specific surface area of doped ZnIn2S4 samples was a bit larger. The La-doped ZnIn2S4 electrodes showed improved photocurrent response, and the photocurrent density reached a maximum value at La content of 1.5 wt%. As expected, La-doped ZnIn2S4 samples exhibited a remarkable enhancement of photocatalytic behaviour toward the photodegradation of tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) and methyl orange (MO). The prominently enhanced photoactivity of doped ZnIn2S4 samples was due to the synergistic effect of the elevated visible-light absorption ability and effective photogenerated charge carriers' separation. Metal oxide varistors (MOVs) are widely used to protect electrical and electronic devices that are very vulnerable to surges due to the low insulation level of the equipment. MOVs deteriorate gradually due to manufacturing defects, mechanical and thermal stress, or repeated protective operations against surges. These defects result in the thermal runaway of MOV and finally lead to the explosion and electric fire of electrical and electronic devices due to a short circuit and a line-to-ground fault. Therefore, the reliable assessment of the condition of MOV deterioration is required for electrical and electronic equipment. However, when most accelerated degradation tests for the MOV have been performed to date, an 8/20 μs standard surge current is applied under de-energized conditions, which is unlike the actual operating environment. In this study, a surge generator was designed to apply a surge current to MOVs to monitor their deterioration. Three different types of leakage currents were measured to analyze the change rates of their electrical characteristics of MOVs by comparing them with the reference voltage variation. This study introduced a detection method for magnesite and associated gangue minerals, including dolomite, calcite, and talc, based on mineralogical, chemical, and hyperspectral analyses using hand samples from thirteen different source locations and Specim hyperspectral short wave infrared (SWIR) hyperspectral images. Band ratio methods and logistic regression models were developed based on the spectral bands selected by the random forest algorithm. The mineralogical analysis revealed the heterogeneity of mineral composition for naturally occurring samples, showing various carbonate and silicate minerals as accessory minerals. The Mg and Ca composition of magnesite and dolomite varied significantly, inferring the mixture of minerals. The spectral characteristics of magnesite and associated gangue minerals showed major absorption features of the target minerals mixed with the absorption features of accessory carbonate minerals and talc affected by mineral composition. The spectral characteristics of magnesite and dolomite showed a systematic shift of the Mg-OH absorption features toward a shorter wavelength with an increased Mg content. The spectral bands identified by the random forest algorithm for detecting magnesite and gangue minerals were mainly associated with spectral features manifested by Mg-OH, CO3, and OH. A two-step band ratio classification method achieved an overall accuracy of 92% and 55.2%. The classification models developed by logistic regression models showed a significantly higher accuracy of 98~99.9% for training samples and 82–99.8% for validation samples. Because the samples were collected from heterogeneous sites all over the world, we believe that the results and the approach to band selection and logistic regression developed in this study can be generalized to other case studies of magnesite exploration. The semi-enclosed estuary is very susceptible to changes in the physical and environmental characteristics of the inflow from the land. Therefore, continuous and comprehensive monitoring of such changes is necessary for managing the estuary. Nevertheless, the procedure or framework has not been proposed appropriately to determine how many instruments are necessary and where they need to be monitored and standardized to detect critical changes. The present work proposes a systematical strategy for the deployments of the monitoring array by using the combination of graphical optimization with the objective mapping technique. In order to reflect the spatiotemporal characteristics of the bay, the representative variables and eigenvectors were determined by the Empirical Orthogonal Function (EOF), and the cosine angle among them calculated and used as a design index of optimization. At the recommended locations, the sampled representative variables were interpolated to reconstruct their spatiotemporal distribution and compared with the true distribution. The analysis confirmed that the selected locations, even with a minimal number of points, can be used for on-site monitoring. In addition, the present framework suggests how to determine installable regions for real-time monitoring stations, which reflect the global and local characteristics of the semi-enclosed estuary. Although it has been suggested that the γ-glutamyltransferase (GGT) level is an indicator of cardiometabolic disorders, there is no previous study to evaluate the implication of GGT variability on the development of myocardial infarction (MI), stroke, all-cause mortality, and cardiovascular disease (CVD)-related mortality. GGT variability was measured as the coefficient variance (GGT-CV), standard deviation (GGT-SD), and variability independent of the mean (GGT-VIM). Using the population-based Korean National Health Insurance Service-Health Screening Cohort, we followed 158,736 Korean adults over a median duration of 8.4 years. In multivariable Cox proportional hazard analysis, the risk of mortality, MI, and stroke showed a stepwise increase according to the quartiles of GGT-CV, GGT-SD or GGT-VIM. In the highest quartile of GGT-CV compared to the lowest quartile after adjusting for confounding variables including mean GGT, the hazard ratios (HRs) for incident MI, stroke, mortality, and CVD-related mortality were 1.19 (95% confidence interval (CI), 1.06–1.34; p < 0.001), 1.20 (95% CI, 1.10–1.32; p < 0.001), 1.41 (95% CI, 1.33–1.51; p < 0.001), and 1.52 (95% CI, 1.30–1.78; p < 0.001), respectively, which were similar or even higher compared with those associated with total cholesterol variability. This is the first study to demonstrate that high GGT variability is associated with increased risk of MI, stroke, all-cause mortality, and CVD-related mortality in the general population. Three Apiaceae species Ledebouriella seseloides, Peucedanum japonicum, and Glehnia littoralis are used as Asian herbal medicines, with the confusingly similar common name "Bang-poong". We characterized the complete chloroplast (cp) genomes and 45S nuclear ribosomal DNA (45S nrDNA) sequences of two accessions for each species. The complete cp genomes of G. littoralis, L. seseloides, and P. japonicum were 147,467, 147,830, and 164,633 bp, respectively. Compared to the other species, the P. japonicum cp genome had a huge inverted repeat expansion and a segmental inversion. The 45S nrDNA cistron sequences of the three species were almost identical in size and structure. Despite the structural variation in the P. japonicum cp genome, phylogenetic analysis revealed that G. littoralis diverged 5–6 million years ago (Mya), while P. japonicum diverged from L. seseloides only 2–3 Mya. Abundant copy number variations including tandem repeats, insertion/deletions, and single nucleotide polymorphisms, were found at the interspecies level. Intraspecies-level polymorphism was also found for L. seseloides and G. littoralis. We developed nine PCR barcode markers to authenticate all three species. This study characterizes the genomic differences between L. seseloides, P. japonicum, and G. littoralis; provides a method of species identification; and sheds light on the evolutionary history of these three species. In this study, the composition of lead-free piezoelectric ceramics (1 - x)(Bi 0.5 Na 0.5 )TiO 3 -x(Ba 0.5 Sr 0.5 )TiO 3 with excellent piezoelectric properties was investigated. Crystal analysis and electrical and piezoelectric properties were analyzed according to the content of the BST composition. A phase change from rhombohedral to tetragonal structure was observed in 0.12 BST, and the densest and most uniform microstructure was confirmed in this composition. The dielectric constant increased from 905 to 1692 as the composition of BST increased to 0.12 BST. Afterward, as the composition of BST increased, the permittivity tended to decrease. Additionally, at 0.12 BST, P r was the highest at 23.34 μC/cm 2 . The piezoelectric charge constant (d 33 ) and the electromechanical coupling coefficient (k p ) were 152 pC/N and 0.37, respectively, and showed the highest values at 0.12 BST. Curie temperature (T m ) was analyzed 242 °C at 0.12 BST, the optimal composition. It was confirmed that the characteristics of 0.12 BST were excellent in all conditions. Therefore, it was confirmed that 0.12 BST is the optimal composition for (1 - x)BNT-xBST piezoelectric ceramics.
