As a technology for water landscape performance that considers landscape, ecological, and social effects, nature-based solutions play a crucial role in enhancing the functionality of integrated ecosystem services on the micro-scale. This study conducted a systematic investigation into the landscape performance of the "Clear as a Drain" composite sponge facility at Handan Garden Expo Park. The following conclusions were drawn: (1) In terms of ecological restoration support services, the "Clear as a Drain" artificial wetland exhibited diverse habitat types, a rich variety of plant species specific to the site's region, and high plant diversity indices for shrubs (1.776) and herbaceous aquatic plants (3.352). Reclaimed water reused in the artificial terraced wetland promoted plant growth and diversity while contributing to site self-rehabilitation; plants also significantly contributed to carbon fixation, oxygen release, and carbon emission reduction. (2) Regarding ecological restoration regulation services, the artificial wetland effectively purified reclaimed water with substantial improvements observed in incoming water quality during spring, summer, and autumn—particularly notable purification effects were observed during the summer months. Pollutant reduction rates for COD, BOD5 ammonia nitrogen, TP, and TN reached 75.8%, 72.1%, 93.8%, 96.7%, and 90.3%, respectively; different independent subsystems within the wetland demonstrated distinct advantages in pollutant removal; park plants displayed strong air purification capabilities; annual energy savings from park plants could fully cover daily energy consumption for nearby residents. Background: Pneumonectomy is a drastic but sometimes inevitable treatment option for patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) to improve their chances for long-term survival. However, the optimal adjuvant radiotherapy used for patients with N2 NSCLC following pneumonectomy remains unclear in the literature. Methods: T1-4N0-2M0 NSCLC patients registered in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database were retrospectively analyzed. Propensity score matching was applied to balance the assignment of patients. Cox proportional hazards models and Kaplan–Meier analyses were used to identify the factors related to overall survival rates. Restricted cubic splines were used to detect the possible nonlinear dependency of the relationship between the risk of survival and age. Results: A total of 4308 NSCLC patients were enrolled in this study. In N2 patients, the long-term outcome of the chemotherapy and postoperative radiotherapy groups was the worst (p = 0.014). Subgroup analyses showed that the influence of age on survival outcome was confined to patients who received chemotherapy and neoadjuvant radiotherapy (p = 0.004). Meanwhile, patients >65 years of age who received chemotherapy and neoadjuvant radiotherapy had significantly worse prognoses than those in the chemotherapy group (p = 0.005). Conclusions: Our results show that neoadjuvant radiotherapy may have potential benefits in patients aged ≤ 65 years who are scheduled for pneumonectomy, but not in elderly patients. On-water sightseeing plays a key role in the tourism of traditional Chinese landscapes. The on-water landscape affects tourism potential and the quality of urban landscapes. Current research on river landscape is mainly based on remote sensing images or on-land approaches, while studies of on-water perspective landscapes at different river scales is lacking. In this paper, with Guilin city rivers taken as an example, we adopt image semantic segmentation technology to evaluate the visual landscape characteristics under different river scales, and subsequently employ automatic linear modeling to screen important factors affecting aesthetic quality. The results reveal the obvious differences between the on-water landscape characteristics of different scale rivers. The on-water landscape quality of large- and small-scale rivers is mainly affected by seven and four factors, respectively. The Karst landform of Guilin is observed to significantly improve the on-water landscape quality of large-scale rivers. By considering the impact mechanism of landscape composition on the aesthetic quality and the different scale rivers, we propose several aesthetic quality improvement strategies based on low-cost methods, including the planting of vegetation and the micro renewal of artificial constructions. Background: the 18-kDa translocator protein (TSPO) is a mitochondrial outer membrane protein, and its expression tends to increase in response to inflammatory stimulation, rapidly. However, the role of TSPO in inflammation and pyroptosis is not yet clear. Here, we identified TSPO as a novel key regulator of pyroptosis. (2) Methods: TSPO knockout and DSS induced mouse inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) models were employed to assess the roles of TSPO in the pathogenesis of IBD. Primary peritoneal macrophages from TSPO knockout mice were applied to evaluate the mechanism of TSPO in cell pyroptosis. Conclusions: in response to inflammatory injury, TSPO expression is rapidly upregulated and provides a protective function against GSDMD-mediated pyroptosis, which helps us better understand the biological role of TSPO and a novel regulatory mechanism of the pyroptosis process.
