Dynamic random access memory (DRAM) serves as a critical component in medical equipment. Given the exacting standards demanded by medical equipment products, manufacturers face pressure to improve their product quality. The electrical characteristics of these products are based on the resistance value of the DRAM components. Hence, the purpose of this study is to optimize the resistance value of DRAM components in medical equipment. We proposed a novel FMEA-TSTM-NNGA framework that integrates failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), the two-stage Taguchi method (TSTM), neural networks (NN), and genetic algorithms (GA) to optimize the manufacturing process. Moreover, the proposed FMEA-TSTM-NNGA framework achieved a substantial reduction in experimental trials, cutting the required number by a factor of 85.3 when compared to the grid search method. Our framework successfully identified optimal manufacturing condition settings for the resistance values of DRAM components: Depo time = 27 s, Depo O2 flow = 151 sccm, ARC-LTO etch time = 43 s, ARC-LTO etch pressure = 97 mTorr, Ox-SiCO etch time = 91 s, Ox-SiCO gas ratio = 22%, and Polish time = 84 s. The results helped the case company improve the resistance value of DRAM components from 191.1 × 10−3 Ohm to 176.84 × 10−3 Ohm, which is closer to the target value of 176.5 × 10−3 Ohm. The proposed FMEA-TSTM-NNGA framework is designed to operate efficiently on resource-constrained, facilitating real-time adjustments to production attributes. Many dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) manufacturing companies encounter significant resistance value deviations during the PVD sputtering process for manufacturing Ti thin films. These resistance values are influenced by the thickness of the thin films. Current mitigation strategies focus on adjusting film thickness to reduce resistance deviations, but this approach affects product structure profile and performance. Additionally, varying Ti thin film thicknesses across different product structures increase manufacturing complexity. This study aims to minimize resistance value deviations across multiple film thicknesses with minimal resource utilization. To achieve this goal, we propose the TSDTM-ANN-GA framework, which integrates the two-stage dynamic Taguchi method (TSDTM), artificial neural networks (ANN), and genetic algorithms (GA). The proposed framework requires significantly fewer experimental resources than traditional full factorial design and grid search method, making it suitable for resource-constrained and low-power computing environments. Our TSDTM-ANN-GA framework successfully identified an optimal production condition configuration for five different Ti thin film thicknesses: Degas temperature = 245 °C, Ar flow = 55 sccm, DC power = 5911 W, and DC power ramp rate = 4009 W/s. The results indicate that the deviation between the resistance values and their design values for the five Ti thin film thicknesses decreased by 86.8%, 94.1%, 95.9%, 98.2%, and 98.8%, respectively. The proposed method effectively reduced resistance deviations for the five Ti thin film thicknesses and simplified manufacturing management, allowing the required design values to be achieved under the same manufacturing conditions. This framework can efficiently operate on resource-limited and low-power computers, achieving the goal of real-time dynamic production parameter adjustments and enabling DRAM manufacturing companies to improve product quality promptly. Microgrid (MG) control is crucial for efficient, reliable, and sustainable energy management in distributed energy systems. Genetic Algorithm-based energy management systems (GA-EMS) can optimally control MGs by solving complex, non-linear, and non-convex problems but may struggle with real-time application due to their computational demands. Model Predictive Control (MPC)-based EMS, which predicts future behaviour to ensure optimal performance, usually depends on linear models. This paper introduces a novel Genetic Predictive Control (GPC) method that combines a GA and MPC to enhance resource allocation, balance multiple objectives, and adapt dynamically to changing conditions. Integrating GAs with MPC improves the handling of non-linearities and non-convexity, resulting in more accurate and effective control. Comparative analysis reveals that GPC significantly reduces excess power production, improves resource allocation, and balances cost, emissions, and power efficiency. For example, in the Mutation–Random Selection scenario, GPC reduced excess power to 76.0 W compared to 87.0 W with GA; in the Crossover-Elitism scenario, GPC achieved a lower daily cost of USD 113.94 versus the GA's USD 127.80 and reduced carbon emissions to 52.83 kg CO2e compared to the GA's 69.71 kg CO2e. While MPC optimises a weighted sum of objectives, setting appropriate weights can be difficult and may lead to non-convex problems. GAs offer multi-objective optimisation, providing Pareto-optimal solutions. GPC maintains optimal performance by forecasting future load demands and adjusting control actions dynamically. Although GPC can sometimes result in higher costs, such as USD 113.94 compared to USD 131.90 in the Crossover–Random Selection scenario, it achieves a better balance among various metrics, proving cost-effective in the long term. Twin-web turbine discs have been the subject of research recently in an effort to lighten weight and boost aeroengine efficiency. In the past, the cooling design of turbine discs was generally constrained to optimizing a single structural parameter, which hindered the enhancement of the optimization impact. Therefore, this article proposes a twin-web turbine disc system with a high radius pre-swirl. Driven by the database produced through the numerical simulation, a backpropagation network surrogate model is constructed, and the angles of the pre-swirl nozzles and receiver holes are optimized by a genetic algorithm to enhance the cooling efficiency of the turbine disc. Evaluation was based on the highest disc temperature, disc temperature uniformity, and Nusselt number. The results demonstrate that the suggested surrogate model effectively optimizes the structural characteristics of the twin-web turbine disc by aiming for the specified cooling performance indexes. The cooling effect of the turbine disc is significantly improved in different operating environments. Specifically, the optimized model produces the largest temperature drop in the disc rim temperature. Both axial and radial temperature uniformity have led to a notable enhancement. To achieve uniform cooling and effective homogenization control in ultra-large beam-blank molds necessitates the optimization of submerged-entry-nozzle (SEN) structures. This study employed computational fluid dynamic (CFD) modeling to investigate the impact of two-port and three-port SEN configurations on fluid flow characteristics, free-surface velocities, temperature fields, and solidification behaviors. Subsequently, integrating numerical simulations with the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II) and metallurgical quality-control expertise facilitated the multi-objective optimization of a three-port SEN structure suitable for beam-blank molds. The optimized parameters enabled the three-port SEN to deliver molten steel to the meniscus at an appropriate velocity while mitigating harmful effects such as SEN port backflow, excessive surface temperature differences, and shell thickness reduction due to fluid flow. The results indicated that the three-port SEN enhanced the molten-steel flow pattern and mitigated localized shell thinning compared with the two-port SEN. Additionally, the optimized design (op2) of the three-port SEN exhibited reduced boundary layer separation and superior fluid dynamics performance over the initial three-port SEN configuration. The Multi-Scale Multi-Group Wide-Band (MSMGWB) model was used to calculate radiative transfer in strongly non-isothermal and inhomogeneous media such as the remote infrared sensing of aircraft exhaust system and jet plume scenario. In this work, the reference temperature was introduced into the model as an independent variable for each spectral subinterval group. Then, to deal with the exceedingly vast parameter sample space (i.e., the combination of spectral subinterval grouping results, reference temperatures and Gaussian quadrature schemes), an MSMGWB model's parameter optimization process superior to the exhaustive approach employed in previous studies was established, which was consisted of the Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II method (NSGA2) and an iterative scan method. Through a series of 0-D test cases and two real 3-D remote infrared imaging results of an aircraft exhaust system, it was observed that the MSMGWB model established and optimiazed in current work demonstrated notable improvements in both accuracy and computational efficiency. This paper presents the process of the optimization of linear ball bearings with four-point connection using a genetic algorithm and the finite element method. Currently, modern steering systems without an intermediate shaft—steer-by-wire systems—are being developed. The focus of this paper was on the optimization of linear ball bearings with four-point connection, embedded between the outer and inner columns tube in terms of the number of balls in the bearing and the clearance between balls. The aim of the research was to maximize the first two natural frequencies in the steering system, which is crucial for improving the stability and efficiency of the system. Various factors influencing natural vibration such as bearing geometry, raceway and ball materials, and operating conditions (preload) were taken into account in the research. Preload is a major factor affecting not only linear motion but also natural frequency. In order to speed up the calculations, the author's simplified model of a linear bearing with the use of a system of springs was proposed. The nonlinear properties of the spring were determined on the basis of Hertz's theory. A genetic optimization process resulted in a linear bearing structure that meets the natural frequency criteria. Hellenic Open University has been developing Onlabs, a virtual biology laboratory simulating its on-site laboratory, for its students to be trained before the on-site learning activities. The evaluation of user performance in Onlabs is based on a scoring algorithm, which admits some optimization by means of Genetic Algorithms and Artificial Neural Networks. Moreover, for a particular experimental procedure (microscoping), we have experimented with incorporating into it some background knowledge about the procedure, which allows one to break it down in a series of conceptually linked steps in a hierarchical fashion. In this work, we review the flat and hierarchical modes used for the calibration of the automated assessment mechanism and offer an experimental comparison of both approaches with the aim of devising automated scoring schemes which are fit for training in an at-a-distance learning context. Overall, the genetic algorithm fails to deliver good convergence results in the non-hierarchical setting but performs better in the hierarchical one. On the other hand, the neural network most of the time converges, with the non-hierarchical network achieving a slightly better convergence than the hierarchical one, with the latter, however, delivering a smoother and more realistic assessment mechanism. AGV-based intra-company transport systems are indispensable in the manufacturing industry of Industry 4.0. Designing the systems involves determining AGV movement paths that are predefined dynamically or adjusted based on real-time events. This study focuses on the simulation and optimization of an intelligent transport system. The aim is to create a system model with freely moving AGVs controlled based on the requirements of production facilities. The simulation model was designed in the Tecnomatix Plant Simulation environment. A fictional case study with a flexible manufacturing system was used. Specific methods have been developed for AGV operation, control, and dynamic product handling. The initial simulation model served as the basis for optimization. Model optimization, performed using a genetic algorithm, aimed to maximize production volume while minimizing the number of AGVs. Simulation results showed that AGV movements were dynamically adjusted based on real-time machine requests, and the optimal configuration of AGVs achieved a production volume that was significantly higher than the initial setup. This study demonstrates a new approach to modeling AGV traffic systems emphasizing real-time dynamic adjustments of AGV paths. Meteorological drought, defined as a decrease in the average amount of precipitation, is among the most insidious natural disasters. Not knowing when a drought will occur (its onset) makes it difficult to predict and monitor it. Scientists face significant challenges in accurately predicting and monitoring global droughts, despite using various machine learning techniques and drought indices developed in recent years. Optimization methods and hybrid models are being developed to overcome these challenges and create effective drought policies. In this study, drought analysis was conducted using The Standard Precipitation Index (SPI) with monthly precipitation data from 1920 to 2022 in the Tromsø region. Models with different input structures were created using the obtained SPI values. These models were then analyzed with The Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) by means of different optimization methods: The Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), The Genetic Algorithm (GA), The Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO), and The Artificial Bee Colony (ABC), and PSO optimization of Support Vector Machine (SVM-PSO). Correlation coefficient (r), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), Nash–Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE), and RMSE-Standard Deviation Ratio (RSR) served as performance evaluation criteria. The results of this study demonstrated that, while successful results were obtained in all commonly used algorithms except for ANFIS-GWO, the best performance values obtained using SPI12 input data were achieved with ANFIS-ABC-M04, exhibiting r: 0.9516, NSE: 0.9054, and RMSE: 0.3108. The air suspension system's superior variable stiffness, low vibration frequency, and resistance to road impacts significantly elevate both the comfort of vehicle occupants and the overall ride quality. By effectively controlling the air suspension system, its superior characteristics can be fully exploited to enhance the overall performance of vehicles. However, the parameter tuning process of the fuzzy PID controller for air suspension involves subjectivity and blindness, which affects the performance of the suspension system. To overcome these shortcomings, a control strategy combining genetic algorithms with fuzzy PID control is proposed. This strategy involves a genetic algorithm-optimized fuzzy PID air suspension control approach specifically targeting the fuzzy PID controller for air suspension. A 1/4 two-degree-of-freedom air suspension fuzzy PID controller is designed in MATLAB 2019a, utilizing genetic algorithms to optimize the PID parameter tuning process. The ride comfort of the fuzzy PID air suspension after tuning is then investigated. In the study of ride comfort on Class B road surfaces, the simulation and experimental results were consistent. Using a genetic algorithm to optimize a fuzzy PID-controlled air suspension resulted in reductions of the root mean square values for vertical body acceleration, suspension deflection, and wheel dynamic load by 30%, 26%, and 9%, respectively, compared to passive suspension. These reductions are further improvements over the corresponding indices controlled by the fuzzy PID alone, which decreased by 23%, 18%, and 6%, respectively. Thus, the control effect of the genetic algorithm-optimized fuzzy PID is superior to that of the fuzzy PID control. The efficient operation and intelligent upgrading of public transportation can effectively enhance the attractiveness of conventional public transportation. In order to improve the delicacy management level of bus operations, this study designed a new dynamic optimization model for single-line bus operations with the dual optimization objectives of the lowest passenger travel cost and lowest operation cost, using a combination of the strategy of stop-skipping control and local route optimization. Simulated annealing (SA) was introduced into the genetic algorithm (GA) to design a hybrid heuristic algorithm for model solving. The effectiveness of the optimization model and the hybrid algorithm were verified and evaluated by using the No. 115 bus line in Ganzhou City as an example. The results showed that the proposed optimization model had a good usability, which can effectively improve the average vehicle speed, shorten the overall waiting time of passengers, and enhance the operational efficiency of the line. The genetic algorithm (GA) is a metaheuristic inspired by the process of natural selection, and it is known for its iterative optimization capabilities in both constrained and unconstrained environments. In this paper, a novel method for GA-based dual-automatic guided vehicle (AGV)-ganged path planning is proposed to address the problem of frequent steering collisions in dual-AGV-ganged autonomous navigation. This method successfully plans global paths that are safe, collision-free, and efficient for both leader and follower AGVs. Firstly, a new ganged turning cost function was introduced based on the safe turning radius of dual-AGV-ganged systems to effectively search for selectable safe paths. Then, a dual-AGV-ganged fitness function was designed that incorporates the pose information of starting and goal points to guide the GA toward iterative optimization for smooth, efficient, and safe movement of dual AGVs. Finally, to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, simulation experiments were conducted, and its performance was compared with traditional genetic algorithms, Astra algorithms, and Dijkstra algorithms. The results show that the proposed algorithm effectively solves the problem of frequent steering collisions, significantly shortens the path length, and improves the smoothness and safety stability of the path. Moreover, the planned paths were validated in real environments, ensuring safe paths while making more efficient use of map resources. Compared to the Dijkstra algorithm, the path length was reduced by 30.1%, further confirming the effectiveness of the method. To improve the forming quality of agricultural tractor engine hood and effectively solve the problems of wrinkling and cracking during the drawing forming process, DYNAFORM 5.9 finite element software was used for numerical simulation of the part. Based on a comprehensive scoring method of orthogonal experiments and grey relational analysis, the critical process parameters affecting the "maximum thickening rate" and "maximum thinning rate" were determined. Latin hypercube sampling was used to randomly sample the key process parameters, and the sampled samples served as the data basis for the optimization stage of the neural network genetic algorithm function; an optimization model of the neural network genetic algorithm function was established, with the key process parameters, and the "maximum thickening rate" and "maximum thinning rate" as inputs and outputs respectively, to construct a nonlinear mapping relationship and optimize the process parameters. The study showed that the blank holder force and die clearance had the greatest impact on the "maximum thickening rate" and "maximum thinning rate", identifying them as key process parameters; the optimal process parameter combination was the blank holder force of 462.71 kN, the die clearance of 1.09 mm, and corresponding "maximum thickening rate" and "maximum thinning rate" of 3.97% and 25.96%, respectively. Overall, this research provides a practical optimization strategy to solve the quality issues of the engine hood, offering a theoretical basis for its actual production and processing with significant practical application value. Electric thermal storage boilers (ETSBs) are important devices in enhancing the electric–thermal decoupling ability and spatiotemporal transfer of integrated energy system (IES), which is beneficial for improving system flexibility and energy utilization efficiency. In order to obtain more accurate and comprehensive results, a bi-level optimal model is proposed to study the site selection and capacity configuration of ETSB in IES based on the established mathematical model of ETSB. The objective of upper-level optimization of the model is obtaining the lowest energy supply cost when configuring the location and capacity of ETSB, while the lower-level model optimizes the operation scheduling with the goal of obtaining the lowest operational cost. The mixed-integer linear programming method and the genetic algorithm method are selected to obtain the optimal model. To illustrate the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed method, case studies are carried out. The optimal configuration scheme for an ETSB is obtained by comparing the lowest energy supply cost under different configuration parameters. Furthermore, the impact of an ETSB on the system is also analyzed based on the variations in energy balance, abandoned energy, and energy allocation before and after configuring the ETSB. Addressing the issue of significant speed fluctuations in permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) under load, this paper proposes an active disturbance rejection control strategy based on an improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. Initially, the speed of the PMSM is considered as the comprehensive optimization objective, and an active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) model for the PMSM is established by integrating the ADRC with vector control. Subsequently, an adaptive PSO algorithm incorporating genetic algorithms is proposed. This algorithm uses chaotic initialization for uniform particle distribution, introduces adaptive inertia weight and dynamic cognitive factors to enhance search efficiency, and integrates the crossover and mutation modules from genetic algorithms, optimizing mutations using a Gaussian probability function. Simulation results demonstrated that: (1) under identical external load conditions, the proposed ADRC strategy ensured smaller speed fluctuations and a smoother waveform for the PMSM, and (2) compared to the traditional PSO algorithm, the proposed method reduced the speed fluctuation after external load by approximately 26%. The definition of multiple operational modes in a satellite is of vital importance for the adaptation of the satellite to the operational demands of the mission and environmental conditions. In this work, three optimization methods were implemented for the initial calibration of an attitude controller based on fuzzy logic with the purpose of performing an initial exploration of optimal regions of the design space: a multi-objective genetic algorithm (GAMULTIOBJ), a particle swarm optimization (PSO), and a multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO). The performance of the optimizers was compared in terms of energy cost, accuracy, computational cost, and convergence capabilities of each algorithm. The results show that the PSO algorithm demonstrated superior computational efficiency compared to the others. Concerning the exploration of optimum regions, all algorithms exhibited similar exploratory capabilities. PSO's low computational cost allowed for thorough scanning of specific interest regions, making it ideal for detailed exploration, whereas MOPSO and GAMULTIOBJ provided more balanced performance with constrained Pareto front elements. Geological reservoirs are widely used for storing or disposing of various fluids and gases, including groundwater, wastewater, carbon dioxide, air, gas, and hydrogen. Monitoring these sites is essential due to the stored assets' economic value and the disposed materials' hazardous nature. Reservoir pressure monitoring is vital for ensuring operational success and detecting integrity issues, but it presents challenges due to the difficulty of obtaining comprehensive pressure distribution data. While direct pressure measurement methods are costly and localized, indirect techniques offer a viable alternative, such as inferring reservoir pressure from surface deformation data. This inversion approach integrates a forward model that links pressure distribution to deformation with an optimization algorithm to account for the ill-posed nature of the inversion. The application of forward models for predicting subsidence, uplift, and seismicity is well-established, but using deformation data for monitoring underground activity through inversion has yet to be explored. Previous studies have used various analytical, semi-analytical, and numerical models integrated with optimization tools to perform efficient inversions. However, analytical or semi-analytical solutions are impractical for complex reservoirs, and advanced numerical models are computationally expensive. These studies often rely on prior information, which may only sometimes be available, highlighting the need for innovative approaches. This study addresses these challenges by leveraging advanced numerical models and genetic algorithms to estimate pressure distribution from surface deformation data without needing prior information. The forward model is based on a discrete Green matrix constructed by integrating the finite element method with Python scripting. This matrix encapsulates the influence of reservoir properties and geometry on the displacement field, allowing for the rapid evaluation of displacement due to arbitrary pressure distributions. Precomputing Green's matrix reduces computational load, making it feasible to apply advanced optimization methods like GA, which are effective for solving ill-posed problems with fewer observation points than unknown parameters. The design optimization of a direct-drive permanent magnet synchronous generator (DDPMSG) is of great significance for wind turbines because of its unique advantages. This paper proposes a two-stage model to realize multi-objective design optimization for a 6 MW DDPMSG. In the first stage, a surrogate optimized response surface model based on an improved sparrow search algorithm (ISSA) was established for modeling the cogging torque and generator efficiency. In the second-stage model, a multi-objective optimization model is proposed to optimize the cogging torque and generator efficiency of the DDPMSG. Finally, the proposed two-stage model was used for a 6 MW DDPMSG design optimization, and the simulation results demonstrated the superiority and rationality of the proposed model. In the first-stage model, the proposed surrogate model based on the ISSA had a better modeling accuracy and lower errors. Compared with traditional response surface models and correlation analysis models, the proposed optimized surrogate model reduced errors in the cogging torque by 34.63% and 42.97%, respectively, while the errors in the efficiency models were reduced by 12.92% and 60.78%, respectively, which indicates the superiority of the first-stage model. In the second stage, compared with the single-objective optimization model, the multi-objective optimization model achieved a trade-off optimization between the cogging torque and the efficiency. Biomass supply chain (BSC) activities have caused social and environmental disruptions, such as climate change, energy security issues, high energy demand, and job opportunities, especially in rural areas. Moreover, different economic problems have arisen globally in recent years (e.g., the high costs of BSC logistics and the inefficiency of generating bioenergy from low-energy-density biomass). As a result, numerous researchers in this field have focused on modeling and optimizing sustainable BSC. To this end, this study aims to develop a multi-objective mathematical model by addressing three sustainability pillars (economic cost, environmental emission, and job creation) and three decision levels (i.e., strategic (location of facilities), tactical (type of transportation and routing), and operational (vehicle planning). A palm oil BSC case study was selected in the context of Malaysia in which two advanced evolutionary algorithms, i.e., non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II) and Multiple Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO), were implemented. The study results showed that the highest amounts of profit obtained from the proposed supply chain (SC) design were equal to $13,500 million and $7000 million for two selected examples with maximum emissions. A better target value was achieved in the extended example when 40% profit was reduced, and the minimum emissions from production and transportation in the BSC were attained. In addition, the results demonstrate that more Pareto solutions can be obtained using the NSGA-II algorithm. Finally, the technique for order of preference by similarity to the ideal solution (TOPSIS) was adopted to balance the optimum design points obtained from the optimization algorithm solutions through two-objective problems. This study presents a new approach for Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) by combining the honey badger algorithm (HBA) with a Genetic Algorithm (GA). The integration aims to optimize photovoltaic (PV) system performance in partial shading conditions (PSCs). Initially, the HBA is utilized to explore extensively and identify potential solutions while avoiding local optima. If necessary, the GA is then employed to escape local optima through selection, crossover, and mutation operations. On average, this proposed method has a 40% improvement in tracking time and 0.77% in efficiency compared with the HBA. With the increasing aging of the global population, the efficiency and accuracy of the elderly monitoring system become crucial. In this paper, a sensor layout optimization method, the Fusion Genetic Gray Wolf Optimization (FGGWO) algorithm, is proposed which utilizes the global search capability of Genetic Algorithm (GA) and the local search capability of Gray Wolf Optimization algorithm (GWO) to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the sensor layout in elderly monitoring systems. It does so by optimizing the indoor infrared sensor layout in the elderly monitoring system to improve the efficiency and coverage of the sensor layout in the elderly monitoring system. Test results show that the FGGWO algorithm is superior to the single optimization algorithm in monitoring coverage, accuracy, and system efficiency. In addition, the algorithm is able to effectively avoid the local optimum problem commonly found in traditional methods and to reduce the number of sensors used, while maintaining high monitoring accuracy. The flexibility and adaptability of the algorithm bode well for its potential application in a wide range of intelligent surveillance scenarios. In this work, we resolve the cascaded channel estimation problem and the reflected channel estimation problem for the reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted millimeter-wave (mmWave) systems. The novel two-step method contains modified multiple population genetic algorithm (MMPGA), least squares (LS), residual network (ResNet), and multi-task regression model. In the first step, the proposed MMPGA-LS optimizes the crossover strategy and mutation strategy. Besides, the ResNet achieves cascaded channel estimation by learning the relationship between the cascaded channel obtained by the MMPGA-LS and the channel of the user (UE)-RIS-base station (BS). Then, the proposed multi-task-ResNet (MTRnet) is introduced for the reflected channel estimation. Relying on the output of ResNet, the MTRnet with multiple output layers estimates the coefficients of reflected channels and reconstructs the channel of UE-RIS and RIS-BS. Remarkably, the proposed MTRnet is capable of using a lower optimization model to estimate multiple reflected channels compared with the classical neural network with the single output layer. A series of experimental results validate the superiority of the proposed method in terms of a lower norm mean square error (NMSE). The operational parameters of plant protection unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) significantly impact spraying effectiveness, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. This paper conducted a full factorial experiment with varying flight speeds, heights, and nozzle flow rates to collect parameter space data. Using the Kriging surrogate model, we characterized this parameter space and subsequently optimized the average deposition rate and coefficient of variation by employing a variable crossover (mutation) probability multi-objective genetic algorithm. In the obtained Pareto front, the average sedimentation rate is no less than 46%, with a maximum of 56.08%, and the CV coefficient is no more than 13.91%, with a minimum of only 8.42%. These optimized parameters enhance both the average deposition rate and spraying uniformity compared to experimental data. By employing these optimized parameters in practical applications, a balance between the maximum average deposition rate and minimum coefficient of variation can be achieved during UAV spraying, thereby reducing pesticide usage, promoting sustainable agriculture, and mitigating instances of missed spraying and re-spraying. In order to achieve low-carbon optimization in the intelligent mix ratio design of concrete materials, this work first constructs a concrete mix ratio database and performs a statistical characteristics analysis. Secondly, it employs a standard back propagation (BP) and a genetic algorithm-improved BP (GA-BP) to predict the concrete mix ratio. The NSGA-II algorithm is then used to optimize the mix ratio. Finally, the method's accuracy is validated through experiments. The study's results indicate that the statistical characteristics of the concrete mix ratio data show a wide distribution range and good representativeness. Compared to the standard BP, the fitting accuracies of each GA-BP set are improved by 4.9%, 0.3%, 16.7%, and 4.6%, respectively. According to the Fast Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA-II) optimization for meeting C50 concrete strength requirements, the optimal concrete mix ratio is as follows: cement 331.3 kg/m3, sand 639.4 kg/m3, stone 1039 kg/m3, fly ash 56 kg/m3, water 153 kg/m3, and water-reducing agent 0.632 kg/m3. The 28-day compressive strength, material cost, and carbon emissions show relative errors of 2.1%, 0.6%, and 2.9%, respectively. Compared with commercial concrete of the same strength grade, costs and carbon emissions are reduced by 7.2% and 15.9%, respectively. The methodology used in this study not only significantly improves the accuracy of concrete design but also considers the carbon emissions involved in the concrete preparation process, reflecting the strength, economic, and environmental impacts of material design. Powder metallurgy (PM) technology is extensively employed in the manufacturing sector, yet its processing presents numerous challenges. To alleviate these difficulties, green machining of PM green compacts has emerged as an effective approach. The aim of this research is to explore the deformation features of green compacts and assess the impact of various machining parameters on the force of cutting. The cutting variables for compacts of PM green were modeled, and the cutting process was analyzed using Abaqus (2022) software. Subsequently, the orthogonal test ANOVA method was utilized to evaluate the significance of each parameter for the cutting force. Optimization of the machining parameters was then achieved through a genetic algorithm for neural network optimization. The investigation revealed that PM green compacts, which are brittle, undergo a plastic deformation stage during cutting and deviate from the traditional model for brittle materials. The findings indicate that cutting thickness exerts the most substantial influence on the cutting force, whereas the speed of cutting, the tool rake angle, and the radius of the rounded edge exert minimal influence. The optimal parameter combination for the cutting of PM green compacts was determined via a genetic algorithm for neural network optimization, yielding a cutting force of 174.998 N at a cutting thickness of 0.15 mm, a cutting speed of 20 m/min, a tool rake angle of 10°, and a radius of the rounded edge of 25 μm, with a discrepancy of 4.05% from the actual measurement. Demand fluctuates in actual production. When manufacturers face demand under their maximum capacity, suspension shifts are crucial for cost reduction and on-time delivery. In this case, suspension shifts are needed to minimize idle time and prevent inventory buildup. Thus, it is essential to integrate suspension shifts with scheduling under an uncertain production environment. This paper addresses the two-stage hybrid flow shop scheduling problem (THFSP) with suspension shifts under uncertain processing times, aiming to minimize the weighted sum of earliness and tardiness. We develop a stochastic integer programming model and validate it using the Gurobi solver. Additionally, we propose a dual-space co-evolutionary biased random key genetic algorithm (DCE-BRKGA) with parallel evolution of solutions and scenarios. Considering decision-makers' risk preferences, we use both average and pessimistic criteria for fitness evaluation, generating two types of solutions and scenario populations. Testing with 28 datasets, we use the value of the stochastic solution (VSS) and the expected value of perfect information (EVPI) to quantify benefits. Compared to the average scenario, the VSS shows that the proposed algorithm achieves additional value gains of 0.9% to 69.9%. Furthermore, the EVPI indicates that after eliminating uncertainty, the algorithm yields potential improvements of 2.4% to 20.3%. These findings indicate that DCE-BRKGA effectively supports varying decision-making risk preferences, providing robust solutions even without known processing time distributions. Due to the dynamic complexities of the multi-unmanned vessel target assignment problem at sea, especially when addressing moving targets, traditional optimization algorithms often fail to quickly find an adequate solution. To overcome this, we have developed a multi-agent reinforcement learning algorithm. This approach involves defining a state space, employing preferential experience replay, and integrating self-attention mechanisms, which are applied to a novel offshore unmanned vessel model designed for dynamic target allocation. We have conducted a thorough analysis of strike positions and times, establishing robust mathematical models. Additionally, we designed several experiments to test the effectiveness of the algorithm. Material handling is a widely used process in manufacturing and is generally considered a non-value-added process. The Dynamic Facility Layout Problem (DFLP) considered in this paper minimizes the total material handling and re-arrangement cost. In this study, an integrated DFLP model with unequal facility areas, assignment of material handling devices (MHD), and flexible bay structure (FBS) is considered, and it is aimed to propose fast solution approaches. Two different solution methods are proposed for the problem, which are the genetic algorithm and the simulated annealing algorithm, respectively. In both methods, a non-linear mathematical model solution was used to calculate the fitness values. Thus, the solutions in the feasible solution space are utilized. This paper studies a class of attack behavior in which adversaries assume the role of initiators, orchestrating and implementing attacks by hiring executors. We examine the dynamics of strategic attacks, modeling the initiator as an attack planner and constructing the interaction with the defender within a defender–attack planner framework. The individuals tasked with executing the attacks are identified as attackers. To ensure the attackers' adherence to the planner's directives, we concurrently consider the interests of each attacker by formulating a multi-objective problem. Furthermore, acknowledging the information asymmetry where defenders have incomplete knowledge of the planners' payments and the attackers' profiles, and recognizing the planner's potential to exploit this for strategic deception, we develop a defender–attack planner model with deception based on signaling games. Subsequently, through the analysis of the interaction between the defender and planner, we refine the model into a tri-level programming problem. To address this, we introduce an effective decomposition algorithm leveraging genetic algorithms. Using Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) as the research object, we optimized the process conditions for Antarctic krill sauce (AkS) by including three factors (salt addition, rock sugar addition, and the oil-to-material ratio) and sensory evaluation as response values. The data from the response surface were fed into the back propagation (BP) neural network training, generating a model mapping the process conditions and sensory scores, which were subsequently combined with the genetic algorithm (GA) for global optimization to determine the optimal process for AkS preparation. The results revealed that the response surface model was well suited to the BP neural network training and prediction sets, with correlation values of 0.98 and 0.95, respectively. The fitting prediction effect was obvious for the sensory scoring results of the product. The parameters obtained from the GA's global optimization search accord with the analytical results of the response surface. The findings demonstrated that combining a BP neural network with a GA can enhance the AkS preparation technique. Under optimal processing conditions, AkS has a high sensory score and protein and carbohydrate contents, moderate fat content, minimal fat oxidation, and non-detectable pathogens, indicating that the AkS in this study was nutritious and safe to consume. As unmanned ground vehicles (UGV) continue to be adapted to new applications, an emerging area lacks proper guidance for global route optimization methodology. This area is surveillance. In autonomous surveillance applications, a UGV is equipped with a sensor that receives data within a specific range from the vehicle while it traverses the environment. In this paper, the ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithm was adapted to the UGV surveillance problem to solve for optimal paths within sub-areas. To do so, the problem was modeled as the covering salesman problem (CSP). This is one of the first applications using ACO to solve the CSP. Then, a genetic algorithm (GA) was used to schedule a fleet of UGVs to scan several sub-areas such that the total distance is minimized. Initially, these paths are infeasible because of the sharp turning angles. Thus, they are improved using two methods of path refinement (namely, the corner-cutting and Reeds–Shepp methods) such that the kinematic constraints of the vehicles are met. Several test case scenarios were developed for Goheung, South Korea, to validate the proposed methodology. Large language models (LLMs), designed to provide helpful and safe responses, often rely on alignment techniques to align with user intent and social guidelines. Unfortunately, this alignment can be exploited by malicious actors seeking to manipulate an LLM's outputs for unintended purposes. In this paper, we introduce a novel approach that employs a genetic algorithm (GA) to manipulate LLMs when model architecture and parameters are inaccessible. The GA attack works by optimizing a universal adversarial prompt that—when combined with a user's query—disrupts the attacked model's alignment, resulting in unintended and potentially harmful outputs. Our novel approach systematically reveals a model's limitations and vulnerabilities by uncovering instances where its responses deviate from expected behavior. Through extensive experiments, we demonstrate the efficacy of our technique, thus contributing to the ongoing discussion on responsible AI development by providing a diagnostic tool for evaluating and enhancing alignment of LLMs with human intent. As the informatization of power systems advances, the secure operation of power systems faces various potential network attacks and threats. The false data injection attack (FDIA) is a common attack mode that can lead to abnormal system operations and serious economic losses by injecting abnormal data into terminal links or devices. The current research on FDIA primarily focuses on detecting its existence, but there is relatively little research on the localization of the attacks. To address this challenge, this study proposes a novel FDIA localization method (GA-CNN-LSTM) that combines convolutional neural networks (CNNs), long short-term memory (LSTM), and a genetic algorithm (GA) and can accurately locate the attacked bus or line. This method utilizes a CNN to extract local features and combines LSTM with time series information to extract global features. It integrates a CNN and LSTM to deeply explore complex patterns and dynamic changes in the data, effectively extract FDIA features in the data, and optimize the hyperparameters of the neural network using the GA to ensure an optimal performance of the model. Simulation experiments were conducted on the IEEE 14-bus and 118-bus test systems. The results indicate that the GA-CNN-LSTM method achieved F1 scores for location identification of 99.71% and 99.10%, respectively, demonstrating superior localization performance compared to other methods. The purpose of this research is to develop a new method for automatically optimizing the seawall cross-section with composite slopes and a berm, considering both overtopping discharge and construction cost. Minimizing these competing multi-objectives is highly challenging due to the intricate geometry of seawalls. In this study, the surrogate model optimization algorithm DYCORS (Dynamic COordinate search using Response Surface models) is employed to search for the optimal seawall geometry, coupled with the ANN (Artificial Neural Network) model for determining the overtopping discharge. A total of 20 trials have been run to evaluate the performance of our methodology. Even the worst-performing Trial 7 among these 20 trials shows a satisfactory performance, with a reduction of 17.67% in overtopping discharge and a 12.1% decrease in cost compared to the original solution. Furthermore, compared to other optimization schemes using GAs (Genetic Algorithms) with the same decision vectors, constraints, and multi-objective functions, the methodology has been proven to be more effective and robust. Additionally, when facing different combinations of wave conditions and water levels, there was a 27.8% reduction in objective function value compared to the original solution. Metaheuristic algorithms are computational techniques based on the collective behavior of swarms and the study of organisms acting in communities. These algorithms involve different types of organisms. Finding controller values for nonlinear systems is a challenging task using classical approaches. Hence, using metaheuristics to find the controller values of a twin rotor multi-input multi-output system (TRMS), one of the nonlinear systems studied in the literature, seems to be more appropriate than using classical methods. In this study, different types of metaheuristic algorithms were used to find the PID controller values for a TRMS, including a genetic algorithm (GA), a dragonfly algorithm, a cuckoo algorithm, a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm, and a coronavirus optimization algorithm (COVIDOA). The obtained graphs were analyzed based on certain criteria for the main rotor and tail rotor angles to reach the reference value in the TRMS. The experimental results show that when the rise and settlement times of the TRMS are compared in terms of performance, the GA took 1.5040 s (seconds) and the COVIDOA took 9.59 s to increase the pitch angle to the reference value, with the GA taking 0.7845 s and the COVIDOA taking 2.4950 s to increase the yaw angle to the reference value. For the settling time, the GA took 11.67 s and the COVIDOA took 28.01 s for the pitch angle, while the GA took 14.97 s and the COVIDOA took 26.69 s for the yaw angle. Wind farm layout optimization (WFLO) is focused on utilizing algorithms to devise a more rational turbine layout, ultimately maximizing power generation efficiency. Traditionally, genetic algorithms have been frequently employed in WFLO due to the inherently discrete nature of the problem. However, in recent years, researchers have shifted towards enhancing continuous optimization algorithms and incorporating constraints to address WFLO challenges. This approach has shown remarkable promise, outperforming traditional genetic algorithms and gaining traction among researchers. To further elevate the performance of continuous optimization algorithms in the context of WFLO, we introduce a multi-local search-based SHADE, termed MS-SHADE. MS-SHADE is designed to fine-tune the trade-off between convergence speed and algorithmic diversity, reducing the likelihood of convergence stagnation in WFLO scenarios. To assess the effectiveness of MS-SHADE, we employed a more extensive and intricate wind condition model in our experiments. In a set of 16 problems, MS-SHADE's average utilization efficiency improved by 0.14% compared to the best algorithm, while the optimal utilization efficiency increased by 0.3%. This study integrates genetic algorithms with simulation programs, applying the genetic algorithm's (GA) fitness calculation within the simulation to reduce complexity and significantly improve the efficiency of the optimization process. Additionally, the simulation introduces the concept of "Field Leveling" (FL), utilizing a push–pull strategy to explore more space for absorbing and utilizing unnecessary spillage for energy generation, thereby maximizing electricity production and ensuring optimal reservoir scheduling. Two methods are provided, namely the field-leveling genetic algorithms GAFL1 and GAFL2. GAFL1 involves only pushing and does not include a push–pull process; thus, it cannot optimize spillage. On the other hand, GAFL2 implements a complete push–pull strategy, continuously exploring additional space to absorb and utilize unnecessary spillage. Both GAFL1 and GAFL2 achieved reasonable results; specifically, compared to SQP, GAFL1 improved firm yield by 8.3%, spillage increased by 2.2 times, and total energy decreased by 1.2%. GAFL2, building on the basis of GAFL1, effectively reduces spillage under all hydrological conditions without affecting the highest priority of stable output. However, the impact of reducing spillage on energy generation is not consistent; in wet and dry years, reducing spillage increases energy generation. The agile remote sensing satellite scheduling problem (ARSSSP) for large-scale tasks needs to simultaneously address the difficulties of complex constraints and a huge solution space. Taking inspiration from the quantum genetic algorithm (QGA), a multi-adaptive strategies-based higher-order quantum genetic algorithm (MAS-HOQGA) is proposed for solving the agile remote sensing satellites scheduling problem in this paper. In order to adapt to the requirements of engineering applications, this study combines the total task number and the total task priority as the optimization goal of the scheduling scheme. Firstly, we comprehensively considered the time-dependent characteristics of agile remote sensing satellites, attitude maneuverability, energy balance, and data storage constraints and established a satellite scheduling model that integrates multiple constraints. Then, quantum register operators, adaptive evolution operations, and adaptive mutation transfer operations were introduced to ensure global optimization while reducing time consumption. Finally, this paper demonstrated, through computational experiments, that the MAS-HOQGA exhibits high computational efficiency and excellent global optimization ability in the scheduling process of agile remote sensing satellites for large-scale tasks, while effectively avoiding the problem that the traditional QGA has, namely low solution efficiency and the tendency to easily fall into local optima. With the development of smart agriculture, autopilot technology is being used more and more widely in agriculture. Because most of the current global path planning only considers the shortest path, it is difficult to meet the articulated steering tractor operation needs in the orchard environment and address other issues, so this paper proposes a hybrid algorithm of an improved bidirectional search A* algorithm and improved differential evolution genetic algorithm(AGADE). First, the integrated priority function and search method of the traditional A* algorithm are improved by adding weight influence to the integrated priority, and the search method is changed to a bidirectional search. Second, the genetic algorithm fitness function and search strategy are improved; the fitness function is set as the path tree row center offset factor; the smoothing factor and safety coefficient are set; and the search strategy adopts differential evolution for cross mutation. Finally, the shortest path obtained by the improved bidirectional search A* algorithm is used as the initial population of an improved differential evolution genetic algorithm, optimized iteratively, and the optimal path is obtained by adding kinematic constraints through a cubic B-spline curve smoothing path. The convergence of the AGADE hybrid algorithm and GA algorithm on four different maps, path length, and trajectory curve are compared and analyzed through simulation tests. The convergence speed of the AGADE hybrid algorithm on four different complexity maps is improved by 92.8%, 64.5%, 50.0%, and 71.2% respectively. Rural fires have been a constant concern, with most being associated with land abandonment. However, some fires occur due to negligent attitudes towards fire, which is often used to remove agroforestry leftovers. In addition to the fire risk, this burning also represents a waste of the energy present in this residual biomass. Both rural fires and energy waste affect the three dimensions of sustainability. The ideal solution seems to be to use this biomass, avoiding the need for burning and recovering the energy potential. However, this process is strongly affected by logistical costs, making this recovery unfeasible. In this context, this study aims to propose an optimization model for this chain, focusing on the three dimensions of sustainability. The results of the present study comprise a summary of the current state of the art in supply-chain optimization, as well as a disruptive mathematical model to optimize the residual biomass supply chain. To achieve this objective, a literature review was carried out in the first phase, incorporating the specificities of the context under study to arrive at the final model. To conclude, this study provides a review covering several metaheuristics, including ant colony optimization, genetic algorithms, particle swarm optimization, and simulated annealing, which can be used in this context, adding another valuable input to the final discussion. To meet the requirement of autonomous driving development, high-quality point cloud generation of the environment has become the focus of 4D mmWave radar development. On the basis of mass producibility and physical verifiability, a design method for improving the quality and density of point cloud imagery is proposed in this paper, including antenna design, array design, and the dynamic detection method. The utilization of apertures is promoted through antenna design and sparse MIMO array optimization using the genetic algorithm (GA). The hybrid strategy for complex point clouds is adopted using the proposed dynamic CFAR algorithm, which enables dynamic adjustment of the threshold by discriminating and calculating different scanning regions. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulations and practical experiments. Aiming at system manufacture, analysis methods for the ambiguity function (AF) and shooting and bouncing rays (SBR) tracing are introduced, and an mmWave radar system is realized based on the proposed method, with its performance proven by practical experiments. The collapsible tubular mast (CTM) can be compactly folded for transport and deployed in orbit to serve as a key structural element. Once deployed, the CTM is vulnerable to buckling under axial load and bending moments, compromising its load-bearing capacity. The intricate relationship between the CTM's cross-section and its buckling behavior poses a significant challenge for designers. This is due to the ultra-thin nature of the CTM, which gives rise to highly localized buckling modes rather than global ones. To overcome this challenge, we developed surrogate models using a neural network (NN) trained with data from finite element analysis (FEA). These NN-based surrogate models provide high computational accuracy in predicting nonlinear buckling loads under axial force and bending moments around the two principal axes of the CTM's cross-section, achieving R 2 values of 0.9906 , 0.9987 , and 0.9628 , respectively. These models also significantly improve computational efficiency, reducing prediction time to a fraction of a second compared to several minutes with FEA. Furthermore, the NN-based surrogate models enable the usage of the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) for multi-objective optimization (MOO) of the CTMs. These models can be integrated in the NSGA-II algorithm to evaluate the objective function of existing and new individuals until a set of 1000 non-dominated solutions, i.e., cross-sectional configurations optimizing buckling performance, is identified. The proposed approach enables the design of ultra-thin CTMs with optimized stability and structural integrity by promoting design decisions based on the quantitative information provided by the NN-based surrogate models. In this paper, we aim to enhance genetic algorithms (GAs) by integrating a dynamic model based on biological life cycles. This study addresses the challenge of maintaining diversity and adaptability in GAs by incorporating stages of birth, growth, reproduction, and death into the algorithm's framework. We consider an asynchronous execution of life cycle stages to individuals in the population, ensuring a steady-state evolution that preserves high-quality solutions while maintaining diversity. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed extension outperforms traditional GAs and is as good or better than other well-known and well established algorithms like PSO and EvoSpace in various benchmark problems, particularly regarding convergence speed and solution qu/ality. The study concludes that incorporating biological life-cycle dynamics into GAs enhances their robustness and efficiency, offering a promising direction for future research in evolutionary computation. This paper aims to offer an informative guide for researchers who are interested in tackling optimization problems with intelligence algorithms. First, a special neural network was comprehensively discussed, and it was called a zeroing neural network (ZNN). It is especially intended for solving time-varying optimization problems, including origin, basic principles, operation mechanism, model variants, and applications. This paper presents a new classification method based on the performance index of ZNNs. Then, two classic bio-inspired algorithms, a genetic algorithm and a particle swarm algorithm, are outlined as representatives, including their origin, design process, basic principles, and applications. One of the researchers' concerns in structural engineering is to control the dynamic behavior of structures efficiently. The TMD (tuned mass damper) is one of the effective methods of controlling the vibration of structures, and various numerical techniques have been proposed to find the optimal parameters of the TMD. This paper develops a new explicit formula to derive the optimal parameters of the TMD of a single degree of freedom (SDOF) structure under seismic load using a genetic algorithm (GA). In addition, the state-space model and the H2 norm function are used to identify the optimal frequency ratio and damping ratio of the TMD that minimize the overall vibration energy of the structure. The MATLAB curve fitting toolbox is used for the explicit formula proposal, and the validity of the proposed formula is verified through multidimensional performance verification technique. Finally, the TMD parameters of the SDOF structure are applied to the multi-degrees of freedom (MDOF) structure to compare and analyze with the existing research results, and the results of the explicit formula proposed in this paper are confirmed to be excellent. This paper can suggest a new direction for determining the optimal TMD parameters using a GA and can be effectively applied to vibration control problems of various structures. Three-wheeled agricultural robots possess the advantages of high flexibility, strong maneuverability, and low cost. They can adapt to various complex terrains and operational environments, making them highly valuable in the fields of crop planting, harvesting, irrigation, and more. However, the horizontal stability of the three-wheeled agricultural robot chassis is compromised when working in harsh terrain, significantly impacting the overall operational quality and safety. To address this issue, this study designed a leveling system based on active suspension and proposed a stepwise leveling method based on an adaptive dual-loop composite control strategy (ADLCCS-SLM). Firstly, in the overall control of the three-wheeled chassis, a stepwise leveling method (SLM) was introduced. This method allows for rapid leveling by incrementally adjusting one or two suspensions, effectively avoiding the complex interactions between suspension components encountered in traditional methods involving the simultaneous linkage of three suspensions. Next, in terms of suspension actuator control, an adaptive dual-loop composite control strategy (ADLCCS) was proposed. This strategy employs a dual-loop composite control both internally and externally and utilizes an improved adaptive genetic algorithm to adjust critical control parameters. This adaptation optimizes the chassis leveling performance across various road conditions. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed ADLCCS-SLM was validated through simulation and experimental testing. The test results showed that the control effect of the proposed method was significant. Compared to the traditional multi-suspension linkage leveling method based on PID, the peak values of pitch angle and roll angle were reduced by 31.8% and 33.3%, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
