This paper presents the design of an intra-row obstacle avoidance shovel-type weeding machine. Theoretical analysis of intra-row weeding components guided the determination of the structures and parameters for key parts, including the signal acquisition mechanism, automatic obstacle avoidance mechanism, and weeding shovel. Furthermore, a hydraulic system was designed to support these functions. The design aims to optimize intra-row weeding operations, reduce labor costs, enhance weed control effectiveness, and prevent collisions between weeding equipment and grapevines. Through the construction of a mathematical model, the analysis determined the necessary minimum return speed of the hydraulic cylinder for the intra-row weeding shovel to avoid grapevines. We also established a reasonable range for the extension speed of the hydraulic cylinder to minimize areas missed during weeding. Further analysis showed that using the minimum return speed of the hydraulic cylinder effectively reduced missed weeding areas. A virtual prototype model of the weeding machine was created in ADAMS. Using the coverage rate of weeding operation as the evaluation index, single-factor simulation tests determined that the extension speed of the piston rod in the obstacle avoidance hydraulic cylinder and the forward speed of the weeding machine are the main influencing factors. The preset threshold of the control system, which triggered the automatic obstacle avoidance mechanism when the obstacle avoidance rod reached a specific angle (the "Angle Threshold"), was identified as a secondary influencing factor. Other factors were considered irrelevant. Hydraulic cylinder extension speed, weeding machine forward speed, and angle threshold were chosen as the influencing factors. Following the principles of a Box–Behnken experimental design, a quadratic regression combination experiment was designed using a three-factor, three-level response surface analysis method. The evaluation criterion focused on the coverage rate of weeding operation. A regression model was developed to determine the coverage rate of the weeding operation, identifying the optimal parameters as follows: obstacle avoidance hydraulic cylinder extension speed of 120 mm/s, forward speed of the weeding machine at 0.6 m/s, and an angle threshold of 18°. The optimized coverage rate of the weeding operation achieved 86.1%. This study serves as a reference for further optimization of intra-row weeding machines in vineyards and for other crops. In this study, a passive radar system that detects flying targets is developed in order to solve the problems associated with traditional flying target detection systems (i.e., their large size, high power consumption, complex systems, and poor battlefield survivability). On the basis of target detection, the system uses the multipath signal (which is usually eliminated as an error term in navigation and positioning), enhances it by supporting information, and utilizes the multi-source characteristics of ordinary omnidirectional global navigation satellite system (GNSS) signals. The results of a validation experiment showed that the system is able to locate a passenger airplane and obtain its flight trajectory using only one GNSS receiving antenna. The system is characterized by its light weight (less than 5 kg), low power consumption, simple system, good portability, low cost, and 24/7 and all-weather work. In order to improve the inversion accuracy of stellar occultation data and to provide a reference for the selection of inversion methods with higher accuracy in the future, this study compared and analyzed the inversion effects of two different methods on the same set of data, which are the effective cross-section method and the onion-peeling method, respectively. Firstly, the inversion principle of the effective cross-section method is introduced in detail. The regularisation parameters and screening conditions for the observation data in the inversion process were clarified based on the ozone observation characteristics. Second, the algorithm was applied to invert the GOMOS observational data from 1 December 2002. The atmospheric radiative transmittance obtained from the observations was filtered, and the inversion results were compared with those obtained using the onion-peeling method. Third, the errors in the height distribution obtained by both methods were calculated using the GOMOS secondary results from 1 December 2002 as the reference value. Finally, the inversion errors of other trace components were computed to further validate the accuracy of the two methods. The results demonstrate that the effective cross-sectional method is more accurate for the inversion of ozone, particularly in low-altitude regions affected by refraction. The method achieved a maximum error of 1.2%, with an apparent magnitude of 2, an effective temperature greater than 10,000 K, and a regularisation parameter of 1015. Furthermore, when applying the same method to the inversion of nitrogen trioxide and calculating the error, it was observed that the results of both methods were comparable at altitude of 30–60 km, with an error value ranging from 0 to 2%. However, at approximately 25 km, the inversion accuracy of the onion-peeling method surpassed that of the effective cross-sectional method. The wind tunnel balance signal detection system is widely employed in aerospace applications for the accurate and automated measurement of aerodynamic forces and moments. However, measurement errors arise under different environmental temperature. This paper addresses the issue of measurement accuracy under different temperature conditions by proposing a temperature compensation method based on an improved gray wolf optimization (IGWO) algorithm and optimized extreme learning machine (ELM). The IGWO algorithm is enhanced by improving the initial population position, convergence factor, and iteration weights of the gray wolf optimization algorithm. Subsequently, the IGWO algorithm is employed to determine the optimal network parameters for the ELM. The calibration decoupling experiment and high-low temperature experiment are designed and carried out. On this basis, ELM, GWO-ELM, PSO-ELM, GWO-RBFNN and IGWO-ELM are used for temperature compensation experiments. The experimental results show that IGWO-ELM has a good temperature compensation effect, reducing the measurement error from 20 % F S to within 0.04 % F S . This paper addresses the problem of path following and dynamic obstacle avoidance for an underwater biomimetic vehicle-manipulator system (UBVMS). Firstly, the general kinematic and dynamic models of underwater vehicles are presented; then, a nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC) scheme is employed to track a reference path and collision avoidance simultaneously. Moreover, to minimize the tracking error and for a higher degree of robustness, improved extended state observers are used to estimate model uncertainties and disturbances to be fed into the NMPC prediction model. On top of this, the proposed method also considers the uncertainty of the state estimator, while combining a priori estimation of the Kalman filter to reasonably predict the position of dynamic obstacles during short periods. In recent times, the realm of remote sensing has witnessed a remarkable surge in the area of deep learning, specifically in the domain of target recognition within synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. However, prevailing deep learning models have often placed undue emphasis on network depth and width while disregarding the imperative requirement for a harmonious equilibrium between accuracy and speed. To address this concern, this paper presents FCCD-SAR, a SAR target recognition algorithm based on the lightweight FasterNet network. Initially, a lightweight and SAR-specific feature extraction backbone is meticulously crafted to better align with SAR image data. Subsequently, an agile upsampling operator named CARAFE is introduced, augmenting the extraction of scattering information and fortifying target recognition precision. Moreover, the inclusion of a rapid, lightweight module, denoted as C3-Faster, serves to heighten both recognition accuracy and computational efficiency. Finally, in cognizance of the diverse scales and vast variations exhibited by SAR targets, a detection head employing DyHead's attention mechanism is implemented to adeptly capture feature information across multiple scales, elevating recognition performance on SAR targets. Exhaustive experimentation on the MSTAR dataset unequivocally demonstrates the exceptional prowess of our FCCD-SAR algorithm, boasting a mere 2.72 M parameters and 6.11 G FLOPs, culminating in an awe-inspiring 99.5% mean Average Precision (mAP) and epitomizing its unparalleled proficiency. This research aims to analyze the impact of the Earth-Space link on the Automatic Identification System (AIS) signals of ships. To achieve this, we established a simulation system that measures the receiving power of AIS signals via satellite platforms. We validated the system by utilizing observation data from Tiantuo-5. Through this simulation, we quantitatively analyzed the effects of ionospheric TEC (Total Electron Content) and space loss on the received power. During the processing of observation data, we construct a geometric propagation model utilizing the measured positions of both the satellite and the ship. We then calculate the antenna gain and remove any system errors. Additionally, we eliminate the deviation of elevation and azimuth angles caused by satellite motion. This allows us to determine the actual power of different ships reaching the receiving platform. Upon comparing the measured power data with the simulated power, it was noted that both exhibited an increasing trend as the elevation angle increased. This led to an RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) result of approximately one, indicating the accuracy of the simulation system. The broadcast automatic dependent surveillance (ADS-B) system is a new-generation air traffic control system designed to avoid the waste of resources in secondary radars. The establishment of the spaceborne ADS-B system provides a broad prospect for ionospheric tomography. In this paper, the external observation information of the ionosphere is obtained by measuring the Faraday rotation angle, that is, the total electron content (TEC). Tomography research can be carried out all over the world to conduct large-scale ionospheric electron density research. The experiment selected two different regions and had a time resolution of two hours, a height resolution of 200 km, a latitude resolution of 2°, and a longitude resolution of 5°. Based on the simulated spaceborne ADS-B signal to invert the regional ionospheric electron density, the latitude, longitude, and height distributions of inversion result are basically consistent with those of the actual ionospheric electron density. This paper introduces a novel technique that uses observation data from GNSS to estimate the ionospheric vertical total electron content (VTEC) using the Kriging–Kalman method. The technique provides a method to validate the accuracy of the Ionospheric VTEC analysis within the Equatorial Ionization anomaly region. The technique developed uses GNSS VTEC alongside solar parameters, such as solar radio flux (F10.7 cm), Disturbance Storm Time (Dst) and other data, and Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) Networks to predict the occurrence time of the ionospheric equatorial anomaly and ionospheric VTEC changes. The LSTM method was applied to GNSS data from Haikou Station. A comparison of this technique with the neural network (NN) model and International Reference Ionosphere model shows that the LSTM outperforms all of them at VTEC estimation and prediction. The results, which are based on the root mean square error (RMSE) between GNSS VTEC and GIM VTEC outside the equatorial anomaly region, was 1.42 TECU, and the results of GNSS VTEC and VTEC from Beidou geostationary orbit satellite, which lies inside the equatorial ionization anomaly region, was 1.92 TECU. Underwater images tend to suffer from critical quality degradation, such as poor visibility, contrast reduction, and color deviation by virtue of the light absorption and scattering in water media. It is a challenging problem for these images to enhance visibility, improve contrast, and eliminate color cast. This paper proposes an effective and high-speed enhancement and restoration method based on the dark channel prior (DCP) for underwater images and video. Firstly, an improved background light (BL) estimation method is proposed to estimate BL accurately. Secondly, the R channel's transmission map (TM) based on the DCP is estimated sketchily, and a TM optimizer integrating the scene depth map and the adaptive saturation map (ASM) is designed to refine the afore-mentioned coarse TM. Later, the TMs of G–B channels are computed by their ratio to the attenuation coefficient of the red channel. Finally, an improved color correction algorithm is adopted to improve visibility and brightness. Several typical image-quality assessment indexes are employed to testify that the proposed method can restore underwater low-quality images more effectively than other advanced methods. An underwater video real-time measurement is also conducted on the flipper-propelled underwater vehicle-manipulator system to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method in the real scene. Three-dimensional object detection plays a vital role in the field of environment perception in autonomous driving, and its results are crucial for the subsequent processes. Pillar-based 3D object detection is a method to detect objects in 3D by dividing point cloud data into pillars and extracting features from each pillar. However, the current pillar-based 3D object-detection methods suffer from problems such as "under-segmentation" and false detections in overlapping and occluded scenes. To address these challenges, we propose an improved pillar-based 3D object-detection network with a two-stage pillar feature-encoding (Ts-PFE) module that considers both inter- and intra-relational features among and in the pillars. This novel approach enhances the model's ability to identify the local structure and global distribution of the data, which improves the distinction between objects in occluded and overlapping scenes and ultimately reduces under-segmentation and false detection problems. Furthermore, we use the attention mechanism to improve the backbone and make it focus on important features. The proposed approach is evaluated on the KITTI dataset. The experimental results show that the detection accuracy of the proposed approach are significantly improved on the benchmarks of BEV and 3D. In this study, we analyze the accuracy of the stellar occultation technique to detect the oxygen number density and temperature in near space. Based on the validation of the algorithm related to stellar occultation using a single wavelength of 762 nm, the simulation and inversion are performed using the oxygen absorption A-band, and the results are compared with SABER observations to calculate the deviation. Then, the distribution of the detection accuracy with wavelength, latitude, and altitude is analyzed. The results show that the radiant transmittance of the basic observation varies significantly with wavelength and altitude, and it is not sensitive to a change of latitude. The inversion results of each wavelength at different latitudes can be combined, and it can be seen that the 754–769 nm band is preferred for oxygen and temperature detection. Therefore, analyzing the accuracy results of the specific wavelength 757.84 nm at different latitudes, the temperature accuracy can reach 0.1 K in the stratosphere at both low and high latitudes and 0.6–34 K at middle latitudes. The temperature detection accuracy in the mesosphere at each latitude reaches about a dozen K. The deviation of the inversion results at middle latitudes is larger in the thermosphere, and at the other two latitudes, it is about a few dozen K. From the analysis of relative deviation, excluding the deviation of 95–100 km, the deviation of other altitudes is within the ideal range, and the minimum can reach 0. The accuracy of the oxygen number density increases with latitude, and the relative deviation of the middle and high latitudes is around 10–20%. Based on the above results, it is concluded that the technique of starlight occultation exhibits high accuracy for detecting atmospheric parameters in the near space region, and the results lay the technical foundation for the independent development of stellar occultation. Variable-rate spray systems with canopy leaf area density information detection are an important approach to reducing pesticide usage in orchard management. In order to estimate the canopy leaf area density using ultrasonic sensors, this article proposed three parameter model equations based on ultrasonic echo peaks for canopy leaf area density estimation and verified the accuracy of the three parameter model equations using laboratory-simulated canopy and outdoor tree experiments. The orthogonal regression statistics results from the laboratory-simulated canopy experiment indicated that parameter V c is more suitable for canopy leaf area density estimation compared to parameter V a and V b when the density ranges from 0.54 to 5.4 m 2 m − 3 . The model equation from parameter V c has minor systematic errors, and the predicted and observed values of parameter V c have good agreement with the experimental conditions. The laboratory-simulated canopy and outdoor tree canopy leaf area density verification experiments of parameter V c were carried out, and the results indicated that the absolute value of the mean relative error is 5.37% in the laboratory-simulated canopy and 2.84% in outdoor tree experiments. The maximum absolute value of the relative error is 8.61% in the laboratory-simulated canopy and 14.71% in the outdoor tree experiments, and the minimum absolute value of the relative error is 3.21% in the laboratory-simulated canopy and 0.56% in the outdoor tree experiments. The laboratory-simulated canopy leaf area density verification results showed that the mean relative errors under canopy leaf area density 0.98 and 4.92 m 2 m − 3 conditions are 6.29% and 5.82%, respectively, which is larger than the mean relative error under 2.95 m 2 m − 3 ; nevertheless, these results proved that this model equation is applicable for canopy information detection and advanced pesticide application development in future. The dynamic evaporation of single droplets was investigated under controlled conditions. In the evaporation process, a droplet was placed on a peach leaf surface. In this research, the relative humidity and temperature were kept constant, and the wind speeds and thiophanate-methyl concentrations varied. Based on these conditions, this study aimed to determine the droplets' dynamic transforming characteristics, including the contact angle, the height of the droplets, and the evaporation rate. Five concentrations and five wind speeds were chosen, and pure water droplets at different wind speeds were used as a control group. All single droplets were generated by a syringe. The results showed that the pure water and thiophanate-methyl droplets' evaporation mode was CCR (constant contact radius) mode. An increase in the wind speed accelerated the evaporation process, when the wind speed was 0 m/s, the evaporation was the longest, and the shortest evaporation was achieved with 2.0 m/s wind speed. An increase in wind speed enhanced the pure water droplets' dynamic evaporation process with a maximum enhancement ratio of 3.44 times in the present work. Under the same conditions, the thiophanate-methyl droplets' evaporation time was shorter than that of the pure water droplets. For thiophanate-methyl droplets, the higher the concentration, the shorter the dynamic evaporation process. A 1250 ppm thiophanate-methyl solution with 2.0 m/s wind speed, had an evaporation ratio that was 2.83 times greater than that measured with 0 m/s wind speed. These results could benefit farmers by suggesting that they should adjust the concentration of thiophanate-methyl depending on the wind speed in order to reduce pollution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study provides an in-depth analysis of the characteristics of stellar occultation events. Using 10 target star sources, the influence of orbital elements on the number, duration, and distribution of stellar occultation events was simulated and analyzed, and the constellation configuration was designed. The results showed the following points: (1) the orbital inclination had the greatest influence on the number of occultation events, with obvious upward and downward trends in the range of 10–40° and 150–180°, and the amount of occultation data remained at about 303 times under the other angle conditions. The orbital height had an effect on the number of occultations, but the amplitude was small. (2) The use of four orbits had an impact on the occultation duration. The duration decreased with an increase in the orbit height and inclination, the distribution was symmetrical with the perigee angular distance, and it increased with an increase in the ascending intersection right ascension. (3) The higher the orbital height, the less comprehensive the longitudinal and latitudinal distribution of occultation events. With an orbital inclination of less than 150°, the greatest occultation event was covered to encompass the entire world. The other two orbital elements had negligible effects on the longitudinal and latitudinal distribution of occultation events. (4) The elevation of the occultation event increased with an increase in the orbital altitude, but the azimuth showed no obvious change trends. A considerable number of normal occultations can be obtained with an orbital inclination of less than 120°. The other two orbital elements had a negligible effect on the distribution of altitude and azimuth of occultation events. A stellar occultation constellation configuration was designed based on the simulation results, and the results showed that the following parameters of satellites can be used to realize the global distribution of occultation events: orbital height of 500 km, orbital inclination of 97.3771°, perigee angular distance of 40°, and ascending node right ascension steps of 40°. This configuration will ensure that an adequate number of normal occultations are obtained, which will ensure the quality of data inversion under the condition of 152 infrared target star sources. The response of a novel long-period fiber grating (LPFG) with a period of 180 m to a surrounding refractive index (RI) was investigated. The results displayed that, with the increase in RI of the surrounding media of cladding glass in the grating region, the resonant peak located at 1336.4 nm in the transmission spectrum gradually shifts towards a shorter wavelength, while the resonant peak located at 1618 nm gradually shifted towards a longer wavelength. Moreover, the resonant peak at 1618 nm is much more sensitive to the surrounding RI than that of the one at 1336.4 nm. Compared with the conventional LPFG and other types of wavelength-interrogated RI sensors, such as ring resonators, surface plasmon resonance sensors, and Fabry-Perot interferometric sensors, this novel LPFG possesses a higher sensitivity, which achieved 10,792.45 nm/RIU (RI unit) over a RI range of 1.4436-1.4489. In the present study, two samples of Toddalia asiatica species, both collected from Kenya, were sequenced and comparison of their genome structures carried out with T. asiatica species from China, available in the NCBI database. The genome size of both species from Africa was 158, 508 base pairs, which was slightly larger, compared to the reference genome of T. asiatica from Asia (158, 434 bp). The number of genes was 113 for both species from Africa, consisting of 79 protein-coding genes, 30 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, and 4 ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes. Toddalia asiatica from Asia had 115 genes with 81 protein-coding genes, 30 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, and 4 ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes. Both species compared displayed high similarity in gene arrangement. The gene number, orientation, and order were highly conserved. The IR/SC boundary structures were the same in all chloroplast genomes. A comparison of pairwise sequences indicated that the three regions (trnH-psbA, rpoB, and ycf1) were more divergent and can be useful in developing effective genetic markers. Phylogenetic analyses of the complete cp genomes and 79 protein-coding genes indicated that the Toddalia species collected from Africa were sister to T. asiatica collected from Asia. Both species formed a sister clade to the Southwest Pacific and East Asian species of Zanthoxylum. These results supported the previous studies of merging the genus Toddalia with Zanthoxylum and taxonomic change of Toddalia asiatica to Zanthoxylum asiaticum, which should also apply for the African species of Toddalia. Biogeographic results demonstrated that the two samples of Toddalia species from Africa diverged from T. asiatica from Asia (3.422 Mya, 95% HPD). These results supported an Asian origin of Toddalia species and later dispersal to Africa and Madagascar. The maxent model analysis showed that Asia would have an expansion of favorable areas for Toddalia species in the future. In Africa, there will be contraction and expansion of the favorable areas for the species. The availability of these cp genomes will provide valuable genetic resources for further population genetics and biogeographic studies of these species. Conductometric semiconducting metal oxide gas sensors have been widely used and investigated in the detection of gases. Investigations have indicated that the gas sensing process is strongly related to surface reactions, so one of the important parameters of gas sensors, the sensitivity of the metal oxide based materials, will change with the factors influencing the surface reactions, such as chemical components, surface-modification and microstructures of sensing layers, temperature and humidity. Atmospheric radio refractivity has an obvious influence on the signal transmission path and communication group delay effect. The uncertainty of water vapor distribution is the main reason for the large error of tropospheric refractive index modeling. According to the distribution and characteristics of water vapor pressure, temperature, and pressure, which are the basic components of the refractive index, a method for retrieving atmospheric refractivity profile based on GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) and meteorological sensor measurement is introduced and investigated in this study. The variation of the correlation between zenith wet delay and water vapor pressure is investigated and analyzed in detail. The partial pressure profiles of water vapor are retrieved with relevance vector machine method based on tropospheric zenith wet delay calculated by single ground-based GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver. The atmospheric temperature and pressure is calculated with the least square method, which is used to fit the coefficients of the polynomial model based on a large number of historical meteorological radiosonde data of local stations. By combining the water vapor pressure profile retrieving from single ground-based GPS and temperature and pressure profile from reference model, the refractivity profile can be obtained, which is compared to radiosonde measurements. The comparison results show that results of the proposed method are consistent with the results of radiosonde. By using over ten years' (through 2008 to 2017) historical radiosonde meteorological data of different months at China Big-Triangle Points, i.e., Qingdao, Sanya, Kashi, and Jiamusi radiosonde stations, tropospheric radio refractivity profiles are retrieved and modeled. The comparison results present that the accuracies of refractivity profile of the proposed method at Qingdao, Sanya, Kashi, and Jiamusi are about 5.48, 5.63, 3.58, and 3.78 N-unit, respectively, and the annual average relative RMSE of refractivity at these stations are about 1.66, 1.53, 1.49, and 1.23%, respectively. The incidence and prevalence of metabolic syndrome has steadily increased worldwide. As a major risk factor for various diseases, metabolic syndrome has come into focus in recent years. Some natural aporphine alkaloids are very promising agents in the prevention and treatment of metabolic syndrome and its components because of their wide variety of biological activities. These natural aporphine alkaloids have protective effects on the different risk factors characterizing metabolic syndrome. In this review, we highlight the activities of bioactive aporphine alkaloids: thaliporphine, boldine, nuciferine, pronuciferine, roemerine, dicentrine, magnoflorine, anonaine, apomorphine, glaucine, predicentrine, isolaureline, xylopine, methylbulbocapnine, and crebanine. The radio-wave refraction error caused by the troposphere and ionosphere badly affects accuracy in terms of the navigation, positioning, measurement, and control of a target; it is the main source of errors in high-accuracy measurement and control systems. The high-accuracy technology needed for radio-wave refraction error correction (mainly in the troposphere and ionosphere) has been the focus of research for a long time. At present, the correction methods used for radio-wave refraction errors have a low accuracy. For an S-band radio-wave signal, the accuracy of refraction error correction can generally only reach m-level (elevation angle of 15° and above), and thus has difficulty meeting the requirements of dm-level accuracy refraction error correction for deep-space and high-orbit targets. To improve the accuracy of radio-wave refraction error correction for deep-space and high-orbit targets, a novel correction method for tropospheric and ionospheric range error due to refraction is proposed in this study, on the basis of the measured data from a water vapor radiometer and dual-frequency Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). The comprehensive calibration test is conducted in combination with the Chinese Area Positioning System (CAPS) in Kunming. Results show that this method can effectively correct the range error due to refraction that is caused by the troposphere and ionosphere. For an S-band radio-wave signal, the accuracy of refraction error correction can reach dm-level accuracy (elevation angle of 15° and above), which is 50% higher than that achieved with traditional methods. Clethra fargesii, an essential ecological and endemic woody plant of the genus Clethra in Clethraceae, is widely distributed in Central China. So far, there have been a paucity of studies on its chloroplast genome. In the present study, we sequenced and assembled the complete chloroplast genome of C. fargesii. We also analyzed the chloroplast genome features and compared them to Clethra delavayi and other closely related species in Ericales. The complete chloroplast genome is 157,486 bp in length, including a large single-copy (LSC) region of 87,034 bp and a small single-copy (SSC) region of 18,492 bp, separated by a pair of inverted repeat (IR) regions of 25,980 bp. The GC content of the whole genome is 37.3%, while those in LSC, SSC, and IR regions are 35.4%, 30.7%, and 43.0%, respectively. The chloroplast genome of C. fargesii encodes 132 genes in total, including 87 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 37 tRNA genes, and eight rRNA genes. A total of 26,407 codons and 73 SSRs were identified in C. fargesii chloroplast genome. Additionally, we postulated and demonstrated that the structure of the chloroplast genome in Clethra species may present evolutionary conservation based on the comparative analysis of genome features and genome alignment among eight Ericales species. The low Pi values revealed evolutionary conservation based on the nucleotide diversity analysis of chloroplast genome in two Clethra species. The low selection pressure was shown by a few positively selected genes by adaptive evolution analysis using 80 coding sequences (CDSs) of the chloroplast genomes of two Clethra species. The phylogenetic tree showed that Clethraceae and Ericaceae are sister clades, which reconfirm the previous hypothesis that Clethra is highly conserved in the chloroplast genome using 75 CDSs of chloroplast genome among 40 species. The genome information and analysis results presented in this study are valuable for further study on the intraspecies identification, biogeographic analysis, and phylogenetic relationship in Clethraceae. In this paper, we investigate the CUSUM-type estimator of mean change-point models based on m-asymptotically almost negatively associated (m-AANA) sequences. The family of m-AANA sequences contains AANA, NA, m-NA, and independent sequences as special cases. Under some weak conditions, some convergence rates are obtained such as O P (n 1 / p − 1) , O P (n 1 / p − 1 log 1 / p n) and O P (n α − 1) , where 0 ≤ α < 1 and 1 < p ≤ 2 . Our rates are better than the ones obtained by Kokoszka and Leipus (Stat. Probab. Lett., 1998, 40, 385–393). In order to illustrate our results, we do perform simulations based on m-AANA sequences. As important applications, we use the CUSUM-type estimator to do the change-point analysis based on three real data such as Quebec temperature, Nile flow, and stock returns for Tesla. Simple Summary: Sporadic medullary thyroid cancer can occur anytime in life although they tend to present at a later age (≥45 years old) when the tumors are more easily discernible or become symptomatic. We present, in this study, a group of patients diagnosed with medullary thyroid cancer at or after 45 years of age when they are more likely to develop sporadic forms of medullary thyroid cancer with regard to their natural history and prognosis. In this study, we evaluated factors affecting survival in such patients. We found that the incidence of medullary thyroid cancer in patients ≥45 years of age is increasing. Our findings suggest that patients should be offered surgical resection at an early stage to improve their outcomes. Sporadic medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) can occur anytime in life although they tend to present at a later age (≥45 years old) when the tumors are more easily discernible or become symptomatic. We aimed to identify the factors affecting the survival in patients ≥45 years of age diagnosed with MTC. We analyzed the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) registry from 1973–2016 focusing on patients ≥45 years of age with MTC as an isolated primary. A total of 2533 patients aged ≥45 years with MTC were identified. There has been a statistically significant increase of 1.19% per year in the incidence of MTC for this group of patients. The disease was more common in females and the Caucasian population. Most patients had localized disease on presentation (47.6%). Increasing age and advanced stage of presentation were associated with worse survival with HR 1.05 (p < 0.001) and HR 3.68 (p < 0.001), respectively. Female sex and surgical resection were associated with improved survival with HR 0.74 (p < 0.001) and 0.36 (p < 0.001), respectively. Rhipsalis baccifera is the only cactus that naturally occurs in both the New World and the Old World, and has thus drawn the attention of most researchers. The complete chloroplast (cp) genome of R. baccifera is reported here for the first time. The cp genome of R. baccifera has 122, 333 base pairs (bp), with a large single-copy (LSC) region (81,459 bp), SSC (23,531 bp) and two inverted repeat (IR) regions each 8530 bp. The genome contains 110 genes, with 73 protein-coding genes, 31 tRNAs, 4 rRNAs and 2 pseudogenes. Twelve genes have introns, with loss of introns being observed in, rpoc1clpP and rps12 genes. 49 repeat sequences and 62 simple sequence repeats (SSRs) were found in the genome. Comparative analysis with eight species of the ACPT (Anacampserotaceae, Cactaceae, Portulacaceae, and Talinaceae) clade of the suborder Portulacineae species, showed that R. baccifera genome has higher number of rearrangements, with a 19 gene inversion in its LSC region representing the most significant structural change in terms of its size. Inversion of the SSC region seems common in subfamily Cactoideae, and another 6 kb gene inversion between rbcL- trnM was observed in R. baccifera and Carnegiea gigantea. The IRs of R. baccifera are contracted. The phylogenetic analysis among 36 complete chloroplast genomes of Caryophyllales species and two outgroup species supported monophyly of the families of the ACPT clade. R. baccifera occupied a basal position of the family Cactaceae clade in the tree. A high number of rearrangements in this cp genome suggests a larger number mutation events in the history of evolution of R. baccifera. The genus Chlorophytum includes many economically important species well-known for medicinal, ornamental, and horticultural values. However, to date, few molecular genomic resources have been reported for this genus. Therefore, there is limited knowledge of phylogenetic studies, and the available chloroplast (cp) genome of Chlorophytum (C. rhizopendulum) does not provide enough information on this genus. In this study, we present genomic resources for C. comosum and C. gallabatense, which had lengths of 154,248 and 154,154 base pairs (bp), respectively. They had a pair of inverted repeats (IRa and IRb) of 26,114 and 26,254 bp each in size, separating the large single-copy (LSC) region of 84,004 and 83,686 bp from the small single-copy (SSC) region of 18,016 and 17,960 bp in C. comosum and C. gallabatense, respectively. There were 112 distinct genes in each cp genome, which were comprised of 78 protein-coding genes, 30 tRNA genes, and four rRNA genes. The comparative analysis with five other selected species displayed a generally high level of sequence resemblance in structural organization, gene content, and arrangement. Additionally, the phylogenetic analysis confirmed the previous phylogeny and produced a phylogenetic tree with similar topology. It showed that the Chlorophytum species (C. comosum, C. gallabatense and C. rhizopendulum) were clustered together in the same clade with a closer relationship than other plants to the Anthericum ramosum. This research, therefore, presents valuable records for further molecular evolutionary and phylogenetic studies which help to fill the gap in genomic resources and resolve the taxonomic complexes of the genus. The emergence of polylactide composites reinforced with bioresorbable silicate glass fibers has allowed for the long-term success of biodegradable polymers in load-bearing orthopedic applications. However, few studies have reported on the degradation behavior and bioactivity of such biocomposites. The aim of this work was to investigate the degradation behavior and in vitro bioactivity of a novel biocomposite pin composed of bioresorbable continuous glass fibers and poly-L-D-lactide in simulated body fluid for 78 weeks. As the materials degraded, periodic spiral delamination formed microtubes and funnel-shaped structures in the biocomposite pins. It was speculated that the direction of degradation, from both ends towards the middle of the fibers and from the surface through to the bulk of the polymer matrix, could facilitate bone healing. Following immersion in simulated body fluid, a bone-like apatite layer formed on the biocomposite pins which had a similar composition and structure to natural bone. The sheet- and needle-like apatite nanostructure was doped with sodium, magnesium, and carbonate ions, which acted to lower the Ca/P atomic ratio to less than the stoichiometric apatite and presented a calcium-deficient apatite with low crystallinity. Prophylaxis and the treatment of implant-related infections has become a key focus area for research into improving the outcome of orthopedic implants. Functional resorbable coatings have been developed to provide an antimicrobial surface on the implant and reduce the risk of infection. However, resorbable coatings developed to date still suffer from low adhesive strength and an inadequate release rate of antibiotics. This study presents a novel double-coating of micro-arc oxidation and resorbable polylactide copolymer on a Ti-6Al-4V implant with the aim of reducing the risk of infection post-implantation. The adhesive strength, rate of coating degradation, and antibiotic release rate were investigated. A key finding was that the micro-arc oxidation coating with the addition of antibiotics increased the adhesive strength of the poly-l-lactide-co-ε-caprolactone (PLC) coatings. The adhesive strength was influenced by the concentration of the PLC solution, the surface structure of the titanium substrate, and the composition of the coatings. The antibiotics blended into the PLC coating had a release cycle of approximately 10 days, which would be long enough to reduce the risk of developing an infection after implantation. Network motifs are patterns of complex networks occurring significantly more frequently than those in random networks. They have been considered as fundamental building blocks of complex networks. Therefore, the detection of network motifs in transcriptional regulation networks is a crucial step in understanding the mechanism of transcriptional regulation and network evolution. The search for network motifs is similar to solving subgraph searching problems, which has proven to be NP-complete. To quickly and effectively count subgraphs of a large biological network, we propose a novel graph canonization algorithm based on resolving sets. This method has been implemented in a command line interface (CLI) program sgip using the SeqAn library. Comparing to Babai's algorithm, this approach has a tighter complexity bound, o ( exp ( n log 2 n + 4 log n ) ) , on strongly regular graphs. Results on several simulated datasets and transcriptional regulation networks indicate that sgip outperforms nauty on many graph cases.
