Within the rapidly growing urban tourism industry, the development of urban landscapes plays a crucial role in shaping a city's image and competitiveness; however, standardized and mismatched landscapes often have a negative impact, highlighting the importance of assessing urban landscape perceptions. Although existing studies have discussed this through subjective questionnaires and physiological methods, the underlying neural mechanisms have not been thoroughly explored. The research focuses on Jingdezhen, a renowned historical and cultural city in China, as its case study. Utilized the event-related potential (ERP) method to explore individuals' perceptual consistency and neural activity toward different types of urban landscapes. We adopted a 2 (landscape type: historical, modern) X 2 (perceptual match: consistent, inconsistent) within-subject design while recording behavioral data and electrophysiological responses. The results showed that, under any condition, there were no significant differences in people's behavioral data. Neurophysiological results indicate that consistent perceptions of modern landscapes elicited greater P200 responses, suggesting increased attention driven by visual aesthetics and emotional activation. Under conditions of perceptual inconsistency, historical landscapes elicited higher N400 amplitudes than modern landscapes, revealing cognitive conflict and effort. This study demonstrates that P200 and N400 components are effective indicators for assessing urban perception, proving the viability of the event-related potential method in urban landscape research. Additionally, the research reveals the neural mechanisms of urban environmental perception from the early stages of attention and emotional distribution to the later stages of cognitive decision-making, which involve cognitive processes from "bottom-up" to "top-down". This study not only provides a reference for efficient design planning for those involved in urban science but also inspires the coordination between the developmental needs of historical and modern urban landscapes. As a crucial task for disease diagnosis, existing semi-supervised segmentation approaches process labeled and unlabeled data separately, ignoring the relationships between them, thereby limiting further performance improvements. In this work, we introduce a transformer-based multi-task framework that concurrently leverages both labeled and unlabeled volumes by encoding shared representation patterns. We first integrate transformers into YOLOv5 to enhance segmentation capabilities and adopt a multi-task approach spanning shadow region detection and boundary localization. Subsequently, we leverage the mean teacher model to simultaneously learn from labeled and unlabeled inputs alongside orthogonal view representations, enabling our approach to harness all available annotations. Our network can improve the learning ability and attain superior performance. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the transformer-powered architecture encodes robust inter-sample relationships, unlocking substantial performance gains by capturing shared information between labeled and unlabeled data. By treating both data types concurrently and encoding their shared patterns, our framework addresses the limitations of existing semi-supervised approaches, leading to improved segmentation accuracy and robustness. To achieve sustainable development, it is necessary to consider the business model adjustment of the industry in advance, from the development stage to the mature stage. In China, strategic emerging industries are industries that achieve technological breakthroughs, but such industries often have the characteristics of high investment, high technology, high risk, high returns, and long research and development times. This type of industry relies heavily on national resource support from the exploration period to the development period, but its high-profit characteristics also attract policy bias from the governments of other countries internationally. Therefore, understanding the resource requirements of such industries in different periods in advance will help the government to adjust resource allocation and strategic layout through policy means. This will facilitate the smooth transition of the entire industry from the development period to the mature period, and achieve its overall sustainable development. To assist the government in achieving reasonable predictions for policy adjustments, this study focuses on the biopharmaceutical industry, which is one of the representatives of the strategic emerging industries in China's Yangtze River Delta. Considering that policies are not used in a single manner, and that the observation period needs to span the development and platform periods of the industry, the traditional Qualitative Comparative Analysis method (QCA) does not consider the analysis of data from multiple periods. Therefore, this study innovatively uses the Multi-Time Qualitative Comparative Analysis method (mtQCA), adding the dimension of time change and exploring the policy configuration logic behind the differences in local industrial innovation performance. Extracting general rules from specific policy configuration patterns is meaningful for a better analysis and resolution of complex, dynamic management issues, which will promote the sustainable development of strategic emerging industries. We aimed to improve the detection accuracy of laser methane sensors in expansive temperature application environments. In this paper, a large-scale dataset of the measured concentration of the sensor at different temperatures is established, and a temperature compensation model based on the ISSA-BP neural network is proposed. On the data side, a large-scale dataset of 15,810 sets of laser methane sensors with different temperatures and concentrations was established, and an Improved Isolation Forest algorithm was used to clean the large-scale data and remove the outliers in the dataset. On the modeling framework, a temperature compensation model based on the ISSA-BP neural network is proposed. The quasi-reflective learning, chameleon swarm algorithm, Lévy flight, and artificial rabbits optimization are utilized to improve the initialization of the sparrow population, explorer position, anti-predator position, and position of individual sparrows in each generation, respectively, to improve the global optimization seeking ability of the standard sparrow search algorithm. The ISSA-BP temperature compensation model far outperforms the four models, SVM, RF, BP, and PSO-BP, in model evaluation metrics such as MAE, MAPE, RMSE, and R-square for both the training and test sets. The results show that the algorithm in this paper can significantly improve the detection accuracy of the laser methane sensor under the wide temperature application environment. We propose a generalized multiscale finite element method combined with a balanced truncation to solve a parameter-dependent parabolic problem. As an updated version of the standard multiscale method, the generalized multiscale method contains the necessary eigenvalue computation, in which the enriched multiscale basis functions are picked up from a snapshot space on users' demand. Based upon the generalized multiscale simulation on the coarse scale, the balanced truncation is applied to solve its Lyapunov equations on the reduced scale for further savings while ensuring high accuracy. Sanitisers are widely used in cleaning food-processing facilities, but their continued use may cause an increased resistance of pathogenic bacteria. Several genes have been attributed to the increased sanitiser resistance ability of L. monocytogenes. This study determined the presence of sanitiser resistance genes in Irish-sourced L. monocytogenes isolates and explored the association with phenotypic sanitiser resistance. The presence of three genes associated with sanitiser resistance and a three-gene cassette (mdrL, qacH, emrE, bcrABC) were determined in 150 L. monocytogenes isolates collected from Irish food-processing facilities. A total of 23 isolates contained bcrABC, 42 isolates contained qacH, one isolate contained emrE, and all isolates contained mdrL. Additionally, 47 isolates were selected and grouped according to the number and type of resistance genes, and the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of these isolates for benzalkonium chloride (BAC) was determined experimentally using the broth microdilution method. The BAC resistance of the strain carrying the bcrABC gene cassette was significantly higher than that of strains lacking the gene cassette, and the BAC resistance of the strain carrying the qacH gene was significantly higher than that of strains lacking the qacH gene (p < 0.05). Isolates harbouring both the qacH and bcrABC genes did not show higher BAC resistance. With respect to environmental factors, there was no significant difference in MIC values for isolates recovered from different processing facilities. In summary, this investigation highlights the prevalence of specific sanitiser resistance genes in L. monocytogenes isolates from Irish food-processing settings. As urbanization quickens, the role of public art in urban landscape design gains prominence. Nevertheless, how stylistic characteristics of landscape public art affect aesthetic preferences remains insufficiently discussed, particularly with objective assessment methods. The use of event-related potential (ERP) can offer neurophysiological evidence to support research and practice in landscape art design. We employed a 2 (artistic features) × 2 (professional proficiency) repeated-measures design, involving abstract and figurative experimental stimuli; both experts and non-experts participated, with their aesthetic reactions and relevant electroencephalographic data recorded. Behavioral findings show a preference for figurative public artworks regardless of professional background. From neurophysiological outcomes, stimuli elicit an elevated N100 during early perceptual processing, signifying increased attentional resources. During aesthetic processing, figurative stimuli more effectively evoke positive emotions, particularly among professionals, yielding a heightened P200 response. Conversely, abstract stimuli may evoke a higher N200 amplitude, reflecting augmented negative biases. Nevertheless, non-experts exhibit no marked differences in their stimulus responses during aesthetic processing. Research indicates that low-level physical attributes of public artworks are initially noted, while the visual processing of artistic traits lies at a higher perceptual level, necessitating specialized expertise involvement. Furthermore, the complexity of visual perceptual processing plays a significant role in the assessment of landscape art preferences. Porcine deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) is an emerging virus that poses a significant threat to the global swine industry. Its membrane (M) protein is crucial for virion assembly and virus–host interactions. We selected the hydrophilic region of M protein for prokaryotic expression, purification, and recombinant protein production. Utilizing hybridoma technology, we prepared the monoclonal antibody (mAb) 24-A6 against M protein. The mAb 24-A6 was shown to be suitable for use in immunofluorescence assays, western blotting, and immunoprecipitation, with specificity for PDCoV and no cross-reactivity with other five porcine viruses. The M protein was observed to be expressed as early as 3 h after PDCoV infection, increasing its expression over the duration of infection. Notably, the antigenic epitope of the M protein identified as 103SPESRL108 recognized by mAb 24-A6 was found within a conserved structural domain (SWWSFNPETNNL) of the coronavirus M protein, indicating a crucial overlap between a functionally important viral assembly region and a region recognized by the immune system. Our findings provide valuable insights into mAb 24-A6 targeting the antigenic epitope of M protein and may contribute to the development of diagnostic tools for PDCoV infection and fundamental research into the function of PDCoV M protein. Predicting cellular responses to perturbations is an unsolved problem in biology. Traditional approaches assume that different cell types respond similarly to perturbations. However, this assumption does not take into account the context of genome interactions in different cell types, which leads to compromised prediction quality. More recently, deep learning models used to discover gene–gene relationships can yield more accurate predictions of cellular responses. The huge difference in biological information between different cell types makes it difficult for deep learning models to encode data into a continuous low-dimensional feature space, which means that the features captured by the latent space may not be continuous. Therefore, the mapping relationship between the two conditional spaces learned by the model can only be applied where the real reference data resides, leading to the wrong mapping of the predicted target cells because they are not in the same domain as the reference data. In this paper, we propose an information-navigated variational autoencoder (INVAE), a deep neural network for cell perturbation response prediction. INVAE filters out information that is not conducive to predictive performance. For the remaining information, INVAE constructs a homogeneous space of control conditions, and finds the mapping relationship between the control condition space and the perturbation condition space. By embedding the target unit into the control space and then mapping it to the perturbation space, we can predict the perturbed state of the target unit. Comparing our proposed method with other three state-of-the-art methods on three real datasets, experimental results show that INVAE outperforms existing methods in cell state prediction after perturbation. Furthermore, we demonstrate that filtering out useless information not only improves prediction accuracy but also reveals similarities in how genes in different cell types are regulated following perturbation. The development of HfC-SiC has been challenging due to difficulties in achieving sintering and satisfactory mechanical properties. However, this study aims to overcome these limitations by incorporating WC as an additive. SPS was employed to process HfC-SiC and HfC-SiC doped with 5 vol.% WC. The resulting samples were then evaluated for their oxygen content, relative density, Vickers hardness, bending strength, indentation fracture toughness, and microstructure. The Vickers hardness (20.50 ± 0.20 GPa), flexural strength (600.19 ± 84.00 MPa), and indentation fracture toughness (5.76 ± 0.54 MPa·m1/2) of HfC-30 vol.% SiC-5 vol.% WC ceramics are higher than HfC-30 vol.% SiC ceramics. Doping 5 vol.% WC in HfC-30 vol.% SiC not only reduces the oxygen content of samples but also produces the (Hf,W)C solid solution and refines the microstructures, which are the main reasons for the higher mechanical properties of HfC-30 vol.% SiC-5 vol.% WC ceramics. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is responsible for skin and soft tissue infections with multi-resistance to many antibiotics. It is thus imperative to explore alternative antimicrobial treatments to ensure future treatment options. Nisin (NIS), an antibacterial peptide produced by Lactococcus lactis, was selected to combine with Oxacillin (OX), to evaluate the antimicrobial effect and potential mechanism against MRSA. The synergistic antimicrobial effect of OX and NIS was verified by Minimal Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) assays, checkerboard analysis, time-kill curve, biofilm producing ability, and mice skin infection model in vivo. For the potential synergistic antimicrobial mechanism, the microstructure and integrity change of MRSA cells were determined by Scanning and Transmission Electron Microscope (SEM and TEM), intracellular alkaline phosphatase activity and propidium iodide staining were assayed; And transcription of mecA, main gene of MRSA resistant to OX, were detected by qRT-PCR. The results showed NIS could restore the sensitivity of MRSA to OX and inhibit biofilm production; OX + NIS can make MRSA cell deform; NIS may recover OX sensitivity by inhibiting the transcription of mecA. In vivo, mice skin infection models indicate that OX + NIS can substantially alleviate MRSA infections. Urban–rural coordination development is a key factor in achieving sustainable development. The research sample consisted of panel data for 30 provinces in China for the period from 2011 to 2020. Our aim was to investigate whether and how the digital economy affects coordinated urban–rural development by using a panel data model, a spatial Durbin model (SDM), and a mediating effects model. The results indicate that (1) the growth of the digital economy has increased the level of coordinated urban–rural development directly and indirectly; (2) the coordinated development of urban and rural areas and the spatial distribution of the digital economy are highly correlated, with eastern regions generally experiencing a high level of agglomeration and central and western regions having a low level of agglomeration; (3) the digital economy can promote coordinated urban–rural development by reducing the income gap between urban and rural areas; and (4) the direct and the spatial promotion effects of digital economy development on coordinated urban–rural development appear to be stronger in the eastern region, insignificant in the central region, and to have a significant direct inhibition, as well as a significant spatial spillover effect, in the western region. This study provides a reference for China and other developing countries similar to China on how to promote coordinated urban and rural development in the development process of the digital economy. Currently, computed tomography and conventional X-ray radiography usually generate a micro-artifact around metal implants. This metal artifact frequently causes false positive or negative diagnoses of bone maturation or pathological peri-implantitis around implants. In an attempt to repair the artifacts, a highly specific nanoprobe, an osteogenic biomarker, and nano-Au-Pamidronate were designed to monitor the osteogenesis. In total, 12 Sprague Dawley rats were included in the study and could be chategorized in 3 groups: 4 rats in the X-ray and CT group, 4 rats in the NIRF group, and 4 rats in the sham group. A titanium alloy screw was implanted in the anterior hard palate. The X-ray, CT, and NIRF images were taken 28 days after implantation. The X-ray showed that the tissue surrounded the implant tightly; however, a gap of metal artifacts was noted around the interface between dental implants and palatal bone. Compared to the CT image, a fluorescence image was noted around the implant site in the NIRF group. Furthermore, the histological implant-bone tissue also exhibited a significant NIRF signal. In conclusion, this novel NIRF molecular imaging system precisely identifies the image loss caused by metal artifacts and can be applied to monitoring bone maturation around orthopedic implants. In addition, by observing the new bone formation, a new principle and timetable for an implant osseointegrated with bone can be established and a new type of implant fixture or surface treatment can be evaluated using this system. In this experiment, the influence of coal gangue as the admixture on the performance of dry-mixed mortar was studied, and the results were analyzed by XRD and SEM. The effects of different ways of crushing, particle size distribution, coal gangue, cement, admixture, and water content on the water retention, consistency, and 7 d compressive strength of dry-mixed mortar were investigated. The results show that the optimum content of hammer crushing of coal gangue through 3 mm sieve and cement is 83% and 17% of the total mass (W/W), respectively, the admixture content of 1# compound is 0.2 g/kg, and the amount of water is in the range of 194~200 mL/kg. At this time, the consistency can reach 91.5 mm, the water retention rate can reach 92.11%, and the 7 d compressive strength can reach 10.6 MPa, which meets the requirements of dry-mixed mortar for ordinary plastering and masonry mortar (GB-T 25181-2019). The homogeneous galactoglucan PCP-1C extracted from Poria cocos sclerotium has multiple biological activities. The present study demonstrated the effect of PCP-1C on the polarization of RAW 264.7 macrophages and the underlying molecular mechanism. Scanning electron microscopy showed that PCP-1C is a detrital-shaped polysaccharide with fish-scale patterns on the surface, with a high sugar content. The ELISA assay, qRT-PCR assay, and flow cytometry assay showed that the presence of PCP-1C could induce higher expression of M1 markers, including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and interleukin-12 (IL-12), when compared with the control and the LPS group, and it caused a decrease in the level of interleukin-10 (IL-10), which is the marker for M2 macrophages. At the same time, PCP-1C induces an increase in the CD86 (an M1 marker)/CD206 (an M2 marker) ratio. The results of the Western blot assay showed that PCP-1C induced activation of the Notch signaling pathway in macrophages. Notch1, ligand Jagged1, and Hes1 were all up-regulated with the incubation of PCP-1C. The Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) is often used to assess dietary intake in large-scale epidemiological studies. This study aimed to evaluate the reproducibility and validity of the FFQ newly developed for children aged 6 to 12 in western China. A total of 133 children were included in the analysis, and all the children and their caregivers completed the FFQs twice with a three-month interval period, and three 24 h recalls were carried out one month after the first FFQ. We assessed the relative validity and reproducibility using various methods, such as the Spearman correlation coefficient, intra-class correlation coefficient, weighed Kappa, quartile agreement, and Bland–Altman analysis. The Spearman correlation coefficients for food ranged from 0.30 to 0.84, and for nutrients from 0.46 to 0.82 regarding reproducibility. The food intra-class correlation coefficients ranged from 0.20 to 0.85, while nutrients' ranged from 0.37 to 0.75. In terms of relative validity, the average Spearman correlation coefficients for food were 0.20, and 0.30 for energy and nutrients. The energy-adjusted and de-attenuation coefficients were calculated. Moreover, the average percentage of participants misclassified into the extreme quartile for food and nutrients was 8.0% and 7.0%, respectively. Weighted Kappa values indicated acceptable agreement between the FFQs and 24 h recalls. Furthermore, the percentage of results in the limits of agreement (LOA) were all above 93.0%. Water recovery is a significant proposition for human survival and sustainable development, and we never stop searching for more efficient, easy-operating, low-cost and environmentally friendly methods to decontaminate water bodies. Herein, we combined the advantages of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD), magnetite nanoparticles (MNs), and two kinds of quaternary ammonium salts to synthesize two porous quaternary ammonium groups capped magnetic β-CD polymers (QMCDP1 and QMCDP2) to remove organic pollutants and eradicate pathogenic microorganisms effectively through a single implementation. In this setting, β-CD polymer (CDP) was utilized as the porous substrate material, while MNs endowed the materials with excellent magnetism enhancing recyclability in practical application scenarios, and the grafting of quaternary ammonium groups was beneficial for the adsorption of anionic dyes and sterilization. Both QMCDPs outperformed uncapped MCDPs in their adsorption ability of anionic pollutants, using methyl blue (MB) and orange G (OG) as model dyes. Additionally, QMCDP2, which was modified with longer alkyl chains than QMCDP1, exhibits superior bactericidal efficacy with a 99.47% removal rate for Staphylococcus aureus. Accordingly, this study provides some insights into designing a well-performed and easily recyclable adsorbent for simultaneous sterilization and adsorption of organic contaminants in wastewater. The hyperosmolality-gated calcium-permeable channel gene family (OSCA) is one kind of conserved osmosensors, playing a crucial role in maintaining ion and water homeostasis and protecting cellular stability from the damage of hypertonic stress. Although it has been systematically characterized in diverse plants, it is necessary to explore the role of the OSCA family in barley, especially its importance in regulating abiotic stress response. In this study, a total of 13 OSCA genes (HvOSCAs) were identified in barley through an in silico genome search method, which were clustered into 4 clades based on phylogenetic relationships with members in the same clade showing similar protein structures and conserved motif compositions. These HvOSCAs had many cis-regulatory elements related to various abiotic stress, such as MBS and ARE, indicating their potential roles in abiotic stress regulation. Furthermore, their expression patterns were systematically detected under diverse stresses using RNA-seq data and qRT-PCR methods. All of these 13 HvOSCAs were significantly induced by drought, cold, salt and ABA treatment, demonstrating their functions in osmotic regulation. Finally, the genetic variations of the HvOSCAs were investigated using the re-sequencing data, and their nucleotide diversity in wild barley and landrace populations were 0.4966 × 10−3 and 0.391 × 10−3, respectively, indicating that a genetic bottleneck has occurred in the OSCA family during the barley evolution process. This study evaluated the genomic organization, evolutionary relationship and genetic expression of the OSCA family in barley, which not only provides potential candidates for further functional genomic study, but also contributes to genetically improving stress tolerance in barley and other crops. Cell detachment techniques using animal-derived enzymes are necessary for the production of biopharmaceuticals that are made with the help of adherent cell cultures, although the majority of protein therapeutics (>USD 100 billion of income per year) are made under suspension cultures that do not require animal-derived proteins for manufacture. In this study, we establish the optimal Vero cell detachment process, and analyze physiological changes during cell detachment at the cellular and molecular levels. Using flow cytometry, we find that animal-based enzymes are more likely to induce apoptosis than animal-origin-free enzymes. We analyze the levels of RNAs, proteins, and metabolites in cells treated with two detachment strategies, and identify 1237 differentially expressed genes, 2883 differential proteins, and 210 differential metabolites. Transcriptomic analysis shows that animal-origin-free enzymes have a less significant effect on gene expression levels. Combined with proteomic analysis, animal-based enzymes affect the oxidative phosphorylation process and reduce the mRNA and protein levels of Cytochrome C Oxidase Assembly Protein 17 (COX17), which is a Cytochrome C Oxidase Copper Chaperone involved in the mitochondrial respiratory chain. Metabolomics analysis indicates that the levels of spermine and spermidine, which are involved in the glutathione metabolism pathway and apoptosis inhibition, are significantly reduced. Therefore, COX17, spermine, and spermidine may be biomarkers for evaluating the cell subculture process. In conclusion, we have deeply characterized the cell subculture process through multi-omics, which may provide important guidance for research and process evaluation to optimize cell detachment processes. Aesthetics of natural landscapes and the conservation of forest ecological integrity have received much attention because of the increasing public demand for aesthetic quality and the shift of forest conservation management objectives from single elements to multiple ecosystem services. However, existing research has not adequately addressed the relationship between forest scenic beauty with the color index and ecological integrity. This study aimed to evaluate and quantify the scenic beauty of forests and the vegetation color index using web questionnaires and Python color interpretation, with Jiuzhaigou World Natural Heritage and Giant Panda National Park in western Sichuan, China, as examples. The relationships between forest scenic beauty with vegetation color and ecological integrity were explored via correlation and linear regression analyses, respectively. The results showed that: (1) The overall scenic beauty of the autumn forests in the study area was at a "medium" level; (2) the scenic beauty of the autumn forest was significantly positively correlated with the saturation and value ratio; and (3) the scenic beauty was not significantly negatively correlated with ecological integrity. This research provides an important reference for the renovation of autumn foliage forests and ecotourism planning. This study also provides a theoretical basis for the transformation of forest conservation management objectives, offering the possibility for nature reserves to achieve the "win-win" management goal of ecological protection and local economic development. Foam-based soft actuators are lightweight and highly compressible, which make them an attractive option for soft robotics. A negative pressure drive would complement the advantages of foam actuators and improve the durability of the soft robotic system. In this study, a foam actuator was designed with a negative pressure pneumatic drive comprising bellows air chambers, a polyurethane foam body, and sealing layers at the head and tail. Experiments were performed to test the bending and contraction performances of the actuator with the foaming multiplier and air chamber length as variables. At air pressures of 0–90 kPa, the bending angle and contraction of the actuator increased with the foaming multiplier and number of air chamber sections. The designed actuator achieved a bending angle of 56.2° and contraction distance of 34 mm (47.9% of the total length) at 90 kPa, and the bending and contraction output forces were 3.5 and 7.2 N, respectively. A control system was built, and four soft robots were constructed with different numbers of actuators. In experiments, the robots successfully completed operations such as lifting, gripping, walking, and gesturing. The most common and easy approach to fabricating flexible strain sensors is based on the deposition principle. To improve the design of the sensing layer pattern, the reproducibility of the process and the sensitivity of the sensor, a controllable low-temperature-plasma spraying method for conducting nanoparticles was proposed. A flexible strain sensor was developed with multiwalled carbon nanotubes as the sensing layer and silica gel films as the substrate. The effects of plasma treatment on the cyclic stability and sensitivity of the sensor were examined and compared. The changes in the sensitivity of the sensor with the pattern parameters were also studied. The sensitivity of the sensor treated with low-temperature plasma was greatly improved (from 3.9 to 11.5) compared to that of an untreated sensor. In addition, pattern parameters significantly affected the rate of change in the resistance. A portable smart boxing glove prototype was developed using the prepared sensor and was then tested. The results showed that the smart glove could transmit and monitor a striking force of 49–490 N in real time with a sampling time, resolution, response time, and recovery time of 100 ms, up to 1.05 kg, 8 ms, and 150 ms, respectively. As a new tumor treatment strategy, photothermal therapy (PTT) has the advantages of accuracy, ease of administration, a high efficiency and low side effects. Photothermal transduction agents (PTAs) are the key factor which play an important role in PTT. The mechanism of PTT is discussed in detail. The photothermal conversion efficiency (PCE) can be improved by increasing the light absorption and reducing the light scattering of photothermal conversion agents. Additionally, non-radiative relaxation path attenuation can also promote energy conversion to obtain a higher value in terms of PCE. The structure and photothermal characteristics of various kinds of PTAs (metal materials, carbon-based nanomaterials, two-dimensional nanomaterials, and organic materials) were compared and analyzed. This paper reviews the antitumor applications of photothermal synergistic therapies, including PTT combined with immunotherapy, chemotherapy, and photodynamic therapy. This review proposes that these PTAs promote the development of photothermal synergistic therapies and have a great potential in the application of tumor treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Human activities change the natural ecosystem and cause the decline of the intact ecosystem. Establishing an applicable and efficient human activity monitoring indicator system benefits China's ambitious national park system construction. In this study, we established a refined technique for ecological intactness scores (EIS) and applied it in the area of Giant Panda National Park (GPNP) from 1980 to 2020 by quantifying four types of human interferences including land use and cover change (LUCC), road construction, water reservoir and hydropower construction, and mining. The results show the following: (1) Under the ecological intactness score range of 0–10, the GPNP with about 92.6% area of the EIS was above 6.0, and the mean baseline level of intactness was 7.1 when it was established in 2018. (2) The EIS in the east of Qionglaishan and south of Minshan were relatively lower than the rest of the study area. (3) During the past 40 years, 80% of the GPNP's ecological intactness has remained stable. (4) In total, 14% of the GPNP was degraded mainly in the areas below 1200 m with severe human activities. (5) LUCC and road construction were the main driving factors for the decrease of ecological intactness in the GPNP. (6) The habitat of the giant panda is mainly distributed in the areas with an EIS above 6.0, and this is a key link between ecological intactness and habitat suitability. Our research proved that the ecological intactness score (EIS) is an effective indicator for monitoring and assessing the impact of human activities on the regional natural ecosystem and could be helpful for ecological restoration and human activities management GPNP in the future. In this study, Yb:YAG-nanocrystal-doped silica glass with high transmission and excellent spectral properties was successfully prepared using a modified sol–gel method. The X-ray diffraction (XRD), micro-Raman spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and high-resolution TEM (HR-TEM) analyses confirmed that the Yb:YAG nanocrystals, with their low content, homogeneous distribution, and small crystal size, directly crystallized into the silica glass network without annealing treatment. In contrast with conventional microcrystalline glass having large particles (>0.1 μm) and a large particle content, nanocrystalline glass with a homogeneous distribution and sizes of ~22 nm had higher optical transmittance and better spectral properties. Compared with Yb3+ doped silica glass without nanocrystals, the Yb:YAG-nanocrystal-doped silica glass had a 28% increase in absorption cross-section at 975 nm and a 172% enhanced emission cross-section at 1030 nm without any changes in the spectral pattern of the Yb3+ ions in the silica glass. Meanwhile, the Yb:YAG-doped silica glass with large size and high optical quality was easily prepared. Birth weight and related outcomes have profound influences on life cycle health, but the effect of maternal hemoglobin concentration during pregnancy on birth weight is still unclear. This study aims to reveal the associations between maternal hemoglobin concentrations in different trimesters of pregnancy and neonatal birth weight, LBW, and SGA. This was a prospective study based on a cluster-randomized controlled trial conducted from July 2015 to December 2019 in rural areas of Northwest China. Information on maternal socio-demographic status, health-related factors, antenatal visits, and neonatal birth outcomes were collected. A total of 3748 women and their babies were included in the final analysis. A total of 65.1% and 46.3% of the participants had anemia or hemoglobin ≥ 130 g/L during pregnancy. In the third trimester, maternal hemoglobin concentration was associated with birth weight in an inverted U-shaped curve and with the risks of LBW and SGA in extended U-shaped curves. The relatively higher birth weight and lower risks for LBW and SGA were observed when hemoglobin concentration was 100–110 g/L. When maternal hemoglobin was <70 g/L or >130 g/L, the neonatal birth weight was more than 100 g lower than that when the maternal hemoglobin was 100 g/L. In conclusion, both low and high hemoglobin concentrations in the third trimester could be adverse to fetal weight growth and increase the risks of LBW and SGA, respectively. Haptic feedback is appealing for achieving the realistic perception of environmental changes for human bodies in human–computer interaction fields. However, existing haptic actuators have some hurdles such as single mode, poor compatibility, or incomplete tactile information. In this study, we proposed a novel way to generate haptic feedback by designing a soft electro-hydraulic pneumatic actuator (SEHPA) with dual drive modes. The SEHPA was structured with silicone films, a silicone air chamber, flexible electrodes, and an insulating liquid dielectric for good human–machine compatibility. The SEHPA had the advantages of high output force (1.5 N at 10 kPa) and displacement (4.5 mm at 5 kPa), as well as various haptic notifications (0~400 Hz vibration). The electro-hydraulic drive method realized smooth output force changes at the millinewton level (0~40 mN) and output displacement changes at the micron level (0~800 μm), which further enriched the details of the tactile experience. In addition, the self-sensing capability of the SEHPA can be dedicated to monitoring and ensuring precise output. The SEHPAs can be potentially mounted on the fingertips to provide accurate tactile sensation once the manipulator touches an object through teleoperation. More invisible information can also be obtained by customizing various haptic notifications. A high phosphorus Er3+/Yb3+ co-doped silica (EYPS) fiber core glass was prepared using the sol-gel method combined with high-temperature sintering. The absorption spectra, emission spectra, and fluorescence decay curves were measured and compared in temperatures ranging from 300 to 480 K. Compared to 915 and 97x nm, the absorption cross-section at ~940 nm (~0.173 pm2) demonstrates a weaker temperature dependence. Hence, the 940 nm pump mechanism is favorable for achieving a high-power laser output at 1.5 μm. Additionally, the double-exponential fluorescence decay of Yb3+ ions and the emission intensity ratio of I1018nm/I1534nm were measured to evaluate the energy transfer efficiency from Yb3+ ions to Er3+ ions. Through the external heating and active quantum defect heating methods, the emission intensity ratios of I1018nm/I1534nm increase by 30.6% and 709.1%, respectively, from ~300 to ~480 K. The results indicate that the temperature rises significantly reduce the efficiency of the energy transfer from the Yb3+ to the Er3+ ions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

It is well known that water treatment of printing and dyeing wastewaters is problematic. In order to decompose dyes from dyestuff wastewater and convert them into almost harmless substances for the natural environment, an easily prepared, efficient, practical, and easy-to-regenerate composite material was produced from porous floating ceramsite loaded with cuprous oxide (PFCC). The PFCC samples were prepared and characterized by X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The material was applied for photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange (MO) in water. The results show that the maximal degradation rate of MO was 92.05% when the experimental conditions were as follows: cuprous oxide loading rate of 8%, PFCC dosage of 20 g/L, the reaction time of 2 h, pH value of 8, and solution initial concentration of 30 mg/L. The degradation processes of MO fits well with the Langmuir–Hinshelwood model in reaction kinetics, and the Freundlich model in reaction thermodynamics, respectively. The degradation mechanism of MO was considered from two perspectives—one was the synergetic effect of adsorption and photocatalytic oxidation, and the other was the strong oxidation of hydroxyl radicals produced by photocatalysts. With the deepening of modernization in China, the situation of air environmental pollution in China is very serious, and the environmental capacity is becoming less and less. Haze has gradually become one of the main sources of pollution in most cities in China. Volatile organic compounds (VOC) have the activity of participating in photochemical reactions and can participate in a variety of complex reactions in the atmosphere to promote the formation of haze and ozone. Through the experiment of daily ceramic flower paper baking, it can be concluded that the burning loss of flower paper accounts for more than 60% of the total quality of flower paper, and most of them are between 60% and 80%. Among them, the burning loss of PVB flower paper is about 80%, the water transfer paper is about 60%, and the low temperature flower paper is about 86%. In the experiment, the VOC proportion of low temperature flower paper, the PVB paper and water transfer paper accounted for 3.17%, 0.92% and 0.45%, respectively. Through the wax removal experiment of special ceramics molded by hot pressing, it is found that paraffin wax, beeswax and oleic acid are used as binders, and the amount of VOC emitted is also different when the dosage range is different; in addition, the burning loss is generally between 10% and 20% in the process of wax removal. The content of VOC in flue gas is about 0.42%, accounting for 0.046% of special ceramics. Simple Summary: Differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) is the most common endocrine malignancy with a high incidence rate in females. The COVID-19 epidemic posed an increased risk of treatment delay causing increased DTC morbidity and mortality rate of DTC. Several imaging techniques, including ultrasound (US), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and computer tomography (CT), have been applied in the early screening and diagnosis of DTC. However, these traditional methods have limited sensitivity and specificity due to dependence on the experience and skill of the radiologists. Radiomics is an emerging technique that allows the quantitative extraction of high-throughput features from single or multiple medical images, which cannot be observed directly with the naked eye, and then applies to machine learning approaches to construct classification or prediction models. This method makes it possible to evaluate tumor status and to differentiate malignant from benign tumors or nodules in a more objective manner. To date, the classification and prediction value of radiomics in DTC patients have been inconsistent. Herein, we summarize the available literature on the classification and prediction performance of radiomics-based DTC in various imaging techniques. More specifically, we reviewed the recent literature to discuss the capacity of radiomics to predict lymph node (LN) metastasis, distant metastasis, tumor extrathyroidal extension, disease-free survival, and B-Raf proto-oncogene serine/threonine kinase (BRAF) mutation and differentiate malignant from benign nodules. This review discusses the application and limitations of the radiomics process, and explores its ability to improve clinical decision-making with the hope of emphasizing its utility for DTC patients. Simple Summary: The environmentally friendly methods have been employed to control the serious pest, Bactrocera dorsalis, based on chemical communications. However, their olfaction mechanism has not been unveiled. In this study, the ultrastructure of the sensilla on the antennae and maxillary palps was examined by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results showed that three types of olfactory sensilla (trichodea, basiconica and coeloconica) and two types of non-olfactory sensilla (chaetica and microtrichia) located on the antennae. These findings will benefit the olfactory research and the integrated management of this pest. The sensilla on the antennae and maxillary palps are the most important olfactory organs, via which the insect can perceive the semiochemicals to adjust their host seeking and oviposition behaviors. The oriental fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel) (Diptera: Tephritidae), is a major agricultural quarantine pest infesting more than 250 different fruits and vegetables. However, the sensilla involved in olfaction have not been well documented even though a variety of control practices based on chemical communication have already been developed. In this study, the ultrastructure of the sensilla, especially the olfactory sensilla on the antennae and maxillary palps of both males and females, were investigated with field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Three types of olfactory sensillum types including trichodea, basiconica, and coeloconica, and two non-olfactory sensilla including both chaetica and microtrichia, were observed. Each of these three types of olfactory sensilla on the antennae of B. dorsalis were further classified into two subtypes according to the morphology and number of receptor cells. For the first time, the pores on the sensilla trichodea and basiconica cuticular wall were observed in this species, suggesting they are involved in semiochemical perception. This study provides new information on B. dorsalis olfaction, which can be connected to other molecular, genetic, and behavioral research to construct an integral olfactory system model for this species. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is one of the most prevalent epigenetic modifications of eukaryotic RNA. The m6A modification is a dynamic and reversible process, regulated by three kinds of regulator, including m6A methyltransferases, demethylases and m6A-binding proteins, and this modification plays a vital role in many diseases, especially in cancers. Accumulated evidence has proven that this modification has a significant effect on cellular biological functions and cancer progression; however, little is known about the effects of the m6A modification in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In this review, we summarized how various m6A regulators modulate m6A RNA metabolism and demonstrated the effect of m6A modification on the progression and cellular biological functions of NSCLC. Biofilms formed on skin wound lead to inflammation and a delay of healing. In the present work, a novel textile pile debridement material was prepared and treated by plasma. Samples before and after plasma treatment were characterized by a series of methods, including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and water uptake capacity. Besides, mechanical, coagulation, and in vitro biofilm removal performances of the textile pile debridement material were evaluated, with a medical gauze as a control. The results demonstrate that the plasma treatment produced corrosions and oxygen-containing polar groups on the fiber surface, offering an enhanced water uptake capacity of the textile pile debridement material. In addition, compressive tests certify the mechanical performances of the textile pile debridement material in both dry and wet conditions. The results from a kinetic clotting time test suggest a favorable ability to promote blood coagulation. Furthermore, the results of an MTT cell viability assay, SEM, and confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) illustrate that the textile pile debridement material demonstrates a more superior in vitro biofilm removal performance than medical gauze. All of these characterizations suggest that the textile pile debridement material can offer a feasible application for clinical wound debridement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Ranavirus cross-species infections have been documented, but the viral proteins involved in the interaction with cell receptors have not yet been identified. Here, viral cell-binding proteins and their cognate cellular receptors were investigated using two ranaviruses, Andrias davidianus ranavirus (ADRV) and Rana grylio virus (RGV), and two different cell lines, Chinese giant salamander thymus cells (GSTC) and Epithelioma papulosum cyprinid (EPC) cells. The heparan sulfate (HS) analog heparin inhibited plaque formation of ADRV and RGV in the two cell lines by more than 80% at a concentration of 5 μg/mL. In addition, enzymatic removal of cell surface HS by heparinase I markedly reduced plaque formation by both viruses and competition with heparin reduced virus-cell binding. These results indicate that cell surface HS is involved in ADRV and RGV cell binding and infection. Furthermore, recombinant viral envelope proteins ADRV-58L and RGV-53R bound heparin-Sepharose beads implying the potential that cell surface HS is involved in the initial interaction between ranaviruses and susceptible host cells. To our knowledge, this is the first report identifying cell surface HS as ranavirus binding factor and furthers understanding of interactions between ranaviruses and host cells. Water recovery is a significant proposition for human survival and sustainable development, and we never stop searching for more efficient, easy-operating, low-cost and environmentally friendly methods to decontaminate water bodies. Herein, we combined the advantages of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD), magnetite nanoparticles (MNs), and two kinds of quaternary ammonium salts to synthesize two porous quaternary ammonium groups capped magnetic β-CD polymers (QMCDP1 and QMCDP2) to remove organic pollutants and eradicate pathogenic microorganisms effectively through a single implementation. In this setting, β-CD polymer (CDP) was utilized as the porous substrate material, while MNs endowed the materials with excellent magnetism enhancing recyclability in practical application scenarios, and the grafting of quaternary ammonium groups was beneficial for the adsorption of anionic dyes and sterilization. Both QMCDPs outperformed uncapped MCDPs in their adsorption ability of anionic pollutants, using methyl blue (MB) and orange G (OG) as model dyes. Additionally, QMCDP2, which was modified with longer alkyl chains than QMCDP1, exhibits superior bactericidal efficacy with a 99.47% removal rate for Staphylococcus aureus . Accordingly, this study provides some insights into designing a well-performed and easily recyclable adsorbent for simultaneous sterilization and adsorption of organic contaminants in wastewater.

In this study, Yb/Al/Ge co-doped silica fiber core glasses with different GeO 2 contents (0-6.03 mol%) were prepared using the sol-gel method combined with high-temperature sintering. The absorption, fluorescence, radiation-induced absorption, continuous-wave electron paramagnetic resonance spectra, and fluorescence decay curves were recorded and analyzed systematically before and after X-ray irradiation. The effects of GeO 2 content on the valence variations of Yb 3+ /Yb 2+ ions, spectral properties of Yb 3+ ions, and radiation resistance of Yb/Al/Ge co-doped silica glasses were systematically studied. The results show that even if the GeO 2 content of the sample is relatively low (0.62 mol%), it can inhibit the generation of Yb 2+ ions with slight improvement in the spectral properties of Yb 3+ ions in the pristine samples and effectively improve its radiation resistance. Direct evidence confirms that the generation of trapped-electron centers (Yb 2+ /Si-E'/Al-E') and trapped-hole centers (Al-OHC) was effectively inhibited by Ge co-doping. This study provides a theoretical reference for the development of high-performance, radiation-r esistant Yb-doped silica fibers.

Due to its adjustable electronic properties and effective excitation of surface plasmons in the infrared and terahertz frequency range, research on graphene has attracted a great deal of attention. Here, we demonstrate that plasmon modes in graphene-coated dielectric nanowire (GNW) waveguides can be excited by a monolayer graphene ribbon. What is more the transverse resonant frequency spectrum of the GNW can be flexibly tuned by adjusting the chemical potential of graphene, and amplitude of the resonance peak varies linearly with the imaginary part of the analyte permittivity. As a consequence, the GNW works as a probe for capturing the molecular spectrum. Broadband sensing of toluene, ethanol and sulfurous anhydride thin layers is demonstrated by calculating the changes in spectral intensity of the propagating mode and the results show that the intensity spectra correspond exactly to the infrared spectra of these molecules. This may open an effective avenue to design sensors for detecting nanometric-size molecules in the terahertz and infrared regimes.
