In ventilation systems of metal mines, the real-time measurement of the airflow field and a reduction in pollutants are necessary for clean environmental management and human health. However, the limited quantitative data and expensive detection technology hinder the accurate assessment of mine ventilation effectiveness and safety status. Therefore, we propose a new method for constructing a mine intelligent ventilation system with a global scheme, which can realize the intelligent prediction of unknown points in the mine ventilation system by measuring the airflow parameters of multiple known points. Firstly, the nodal wind pressure method combined with the Hardy–Cross iterative algorithm is used to solve the mine ventilation network, and the airflow parameters under normal operation and extreme working conditions are simulated, based on which an intelligent ventilation training database is established. Secondly, we compared the airflow parameter prediction ability of three different machine learning models with different neural network models based on the collected small-sample airflow field dataset of a mine roadway. Finally, the depth learning method is optimized to build the intelligent algorithm model of the mine ventilation system, and a large number of three-dimensional simulation data and field measurement data of the mine ventilation system are used to train the model repeatedly to realize the intelligent perception of air flow parameters of a metal mine ventilation network and the construction of an intelligent ventilation system. The results show that the maximum error of a single airflow measurement point is 1.24%, the maximum overall error is 3.25%, and the overall average error is 0.51%. The intelligent algorithm has a good model training effect and high precision and can meet the requirements of the research and application of this project. Emergence of newer variants of SARS-CoV-2 underscores the need for effective antivirals to complement the vaccination program in managing COVID-19. The multi-functional papain-like protease (PLpro) of SARS-CoV-2 is an essential viral protein that not only regulates the viral replication but also modulates the host immune system, making it a promising therapeutic target. To this end, we developed an in vitro interferon stimulating gene 15 (ISG15)-based Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) assay and screened the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Diversity Set VI compound library, which comprises 1584 small molecules. Subsequently, we assessed the PLpro enzymatic activity in the presence of screened molecules. We identified three potential PLpro inhibitors, namely, NSC338106, 651084, and 679525, with IC50 values in the range from 3.3 to 6.0 µM. These molecules demonstrated in vitro inhibition of the enzyme activity and exhibited antiviral activity against SARS-CoV-2, with EC50 values ranging from 0.4 to 4.6 µM. The molecular docking of all three small molecules to PLpro suggested their specificity towards the enzyme's active site. In today's society, there is an urgent need to help users better access information that they are interested in, as there is an increasing amount of news and messages available with the development of the Internet. Many existing methods involve directly inputting text into a pre-trained model, which limits the effectiveness of text feature extraction. The personalized news recommendation model discussed in this article is a model that can enhance feature extraction from news articles. It consists of a candidate news module, a historically accessed news module, and an access prediction module. Using news titles that accurately summarize news content, a model with double multi-head attention mechanisms and double residual structures (DDM) is utilized to better capture the features of news articles historically accessed by users, thereby achieving an improved recommendation functionality. The candidate news module aims to help the model learn representations of news that users are likely to select from the news titles. The user historical click news module primarily serves to enable the model to learn personalized representations of users from news they have previously browsed. The model has been tested on MIND-small. The AUC reached 0.6665, the MRR reached 0.3205, the nDCG@5 reached 0.3532, and the nDCG@10 reached 0.4158. The Inner Mongolia section of the Yellow River is a primary alluvial segment of the main channel. The variations in water and sediment not only alter the cross-sectional morphology and flow capacity of the river but also impact the scheduling of upstream cascade reservoirs. Based on runoff and sediment load data and topographic information from typical hydrological stations, the characteristics of runoff and sediment load variations and the evolutionary pattern of siltation in the Inner Mongolia River section were analyzed via trend analysis methods, Mann–Kendall test methods, the sediment load transport rate method, and the water level–flow relationship. The results showed that the water and sediment loads at the hydrological stations in the Inner Mongolia River section significantly changed from the 1960s to after 2000, with runoff decreasing by approximately 22% to 32% and the sediment load decreasing by approximately 65% to 73%. Sedimentation in the river section generally increased, and the average annual siltation amount reached 0.144 billion t. The joint utilization of the Longyangxia and Liujiaxia reservoirs in 1987 was the main reason for the rapid increase in siltation, and siltation in the Inner Mongolia River section was slightly reduced after 2005. In addition, the critical sediment load coefficients of the Bayangaole–Sanhuhekou and Sanhuhekou–Toudaoguai River sections were 0.0073 and 0.0051 kg·s/m6, respectively, from 1952 to 1968, and 0.0053 and 0.0037 kg·s/m6, respectively, from 1969 to 2020. Urban communities in environmentally sensitive areas face escalating challenges due to climate change and inadequate infrastructural support, particularly in underserved regions like southside Norfolk, Virginia. This area, characterized by its vulnerability to flooding and a predominantly low-income population, lacks equitable inclusion in broader urban flood protection plans. This research focuses on the development of community-centered resilience strategies through active engagement and collaboration with local residents. The methodology centered around building trust and understanding within the community through a series of interactions and events. This approach facilitated a two-way exchange of information, enabling the research team to gather crucial insights on community-valued assets, prevalent flooding issues, and preferred flood mitigation solutions. The engagement revealed a significant increase in community knowledge regarding climate change, sea level rise, and stormwater management. Residents expressed a strong preference for green infrastructure solutions, including rain gardens, permeable pavements, and living shorelines, alongside concerns about pollution and the need for infrastructure redesign. The outcomes of this community engagement have initiated plans to develop tailored, nature-based flooding solutions. These results are set to inform future urban planning and policy, offering insights to the City of Norfolk and the United States Army Corps of Engineers for potential redesigns of flood intervention strategies that are more inclusive and effective. A template for participatory research to inform coastal hazard management includes cross-sector collaboration, a long-term engagement commitment, and education and surveying opportunities to align solutions to lived, local experiences. Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate (EHMC) is frequently employed as a photoprotective agent in sunscreen formulations. EHMC has been found to potentially contribute to health complications as a result of its propensity to produce irritation and permeate the skin. A microgel carrier, consisting of poly(ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) (pEDGMA), was synthesized using interfacial polymerization with the aim of reducing the irritation and penetration of EHMC. The thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) indicated that the EHMC content accounted for 75.72% of the total composition. Additionally, the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images depicted the microgel as exhibiting a spherical morphology. In this study, the loading of EHMC was demonstrated through FTIR and contact angle tests. The UV resistance, penetration, and skin irritation of the EHMC-pEDGMA microgel were additionally assessed. The investigation revealed that the novel sunscreen compound, characterized by limited dermal absorption, had no irritant effects and offered sufficient protection against ultraviolet radiation. The establishment of an isolation layer in submarine mining has been a persistent challenge. In the context of this research, we conducted a similarity simulation test to preliminarily assess the interaction between the thickness and extent of the isolation layer. Subsequently, we introduce an innovative approach that integrates fractal theory and the Bonded Block Model (BBM) to simulate undersea isolation layer mining. The validation of this method relies on on-site borehole scanning and displacement monitoring, which depict the intricate fractal evolution of fractures and predict the optimal thickness of the isolation layer. Our findings affirm the robustness and validity of this method. Evaluation of the fractal dimensions of fractures reveals that a critical threshold of 1.7 is essential to prevent structural failure of the isolation layer, while a limit of 1.5 is necessary to avoid significant water ingress. Remarkably, the correlation dimension of the settlement time series closely aligns with the fractal dimension of the fractures, underscoring the feasibility of ensuring the safety of isolation layer mining through real-time settlement monitoring. This review paper delves into the current body of evidence, offering a thorough analysis of the impact of large-conductance Ca2+-activated K+ (BKCa or BK) channels on the electrical dynamics of the heart. Alterations in the activity of BKCa channels, responsible for the generation of the overall magnitude of Ca2+-activated K+ current at the whole-cell level, occur through allosteric mechanisms. The collaborative interplay between membrane depolarization and heightened intracellular Ca2+ ion concentrations collectively contribute to the activation of BKCa channels. Although fully developed mammalian cardiac cells do not exhibit functional expression of these ion channels, evidence suggests their presence in cardiac fibroblasts that surround and potentially establish close connections with neighboring cardiac cells. When cardiac cells form close associations with fibroblasts, the high single-ion conductance of these channels, approximately ranging from 150 to 250 pS, can result in the random depolarization of the adjacent cardiac cell membranes. While cardiac fibroblasts are typically electrically non-excitable, their prevalence within heart tissue increases, particularly in the context of aging myocardial infarction or atrial fibrillation. This augmented presence of BKCa channels' conductance holds the potential to amplify the excitability of cardiac cell membranes through effective electrical coupling between fibroblasts and cardiomyocytes. In this scenario, this heightened excitability may contribute to the onset of cardiac arrhythmias. Moreover, it is worth noting that the substances influencing the activity of these BKCa channels might influence cardiac electrical activity as well. As the penetration rate of new energy generation in distributed distribution networks continues to increase, the integration of numerous new energy power plants and associated power electronic devices presents challenges to the power quality of traditional power systems. Therefore, conducting power quality-related research in distribution networks is of significant importance for maintaining power system stability, safeguarding electrical equipment, and enhancing electrical safety. A framework for evaluating the overall power quality of new energy-penetrated distribution network systems based on the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is proposed. This framework aggregates and calculates the global power quality index (GPQI) through averaging, thereby completing the assessment of power quality situations. By enhancing the computation speed of evaluation metrics through an improved S-transform and considering various disturbances such as diminished illumination, wind power disconnection, and high-current grounding, the GPQI values are used to assess power quality under diverse scenarios. Simulation and experimental results confirm the framework's close alignment with real scenarios and its effectiveness in evaluating power quality within distribution networks. The open-circuit fault in electric vehicle charging stations not only impacts the power quality of the electrical grid but also poses a threat to charging safety. Therefore, it is of great significance to study open-circuit fault diagnosis for ensuring the safe and stable operation of power grids and reducing the maintenance cost of charging stations. This paper addresses the multidimensional characteristics of open-circuit fault signals in charging stations and proposes a fault diagnosis method based on an improved S-transform and LightGBM. The method first utilizes improved incomplete S-transform and principal component analysis (PCA) to extract features of front- and back-stage faults separately. Subsequently, LightGBM is employed to classify the extracted features, ultimately achieving fault diagnosis. Simulation results demonstrate the method's effectiveness in feature extraction, achieving an average diagnostic accuracy of 97.04% on the test dataset, along with notable noise resistance and real-time performance. Additionally, we designed an experimental platform for diagnosing open-circuit faults in DC charging station and collected experimental fault data. A Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack is a prevalent issue in the blockchain network layer, causing significant revenue loss for honest mining pools. This paper introduces a novel method, the Repeated Game-based DDoS attack mitigation (RGD), to address this problem. Unlike traditional methods such as game theory and machine learning-based detection, the RGD method can effectively reflect the changes in mining revenue and strategies under different network-strength environments. In particular, we abstract the problem of DDoS mining pool revenue loss into a game revenue model and propose the subgame perfect equilibrium (SPE) approach to solve the optimal payoffs and pool strategies in various network environments. Furthermore, we address the returns of mining pools in an infinitely repeated game environment using the Two-Stage Repeated Game (TSRG) method, where the strategy varies with different network environments. The Matlab experimental simulation results indicate that as the network environment improves, the optimal mining strategies of mining pools are gradually shifting from honest strategies to launching DDoS attacks against each other. The RGD method can effectively represent the impact of changes in the network environment on the mining pool's strategy selection and optimal revenue. Composite phase change materials commonly exhibit drawbacks, such as low thermal conductivity, flammability, and potential leakage. This study focuses on the development of a novel flame-retardant phase change material (RPCM). The material's characteristics and its application in the thermal management of lithium-ion batteries are investigated. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) serves as the medium for phase change; expanded graphite (EG) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) are incorporated. Moreover, an intumescent flame retardant (IFR) system based on ammonium polyphosphate (APP) is constructed, aided by the inclusion of bio-based flame-retardant chitosan (CS) and barium phytate (PA-Ba), which can improve the flame retardancy of the material. Experimental results demonstrate that the RPCM, containing 15% IFR content, exhibits outstanding flame retardancy, achieving a V-0 flame retardant rating in vertical combustion tests. Moreover, the material exhibits excellent thermomechanical properties and thermal stability. Notably, the material's thermal conductivity is 558% higher than that of pure PEG. After 2C and 3C high-rate discharge cycles, the highest temperature reached by the battery module cooled with RPCM is 18.71 °C lower than that of natural air-cooling; the material significantly reduces the temperature difference within the module by 62.7%, which achieves efficient and safe thermal management. Understanding the characteristics and evolution of crack propagation in rock masses is crucial for evaluating their stability. By applying clustering theory to analyze recorded microseismic events, we differentiate the development positions of individual cracks amidst multiple crack formations. Three distinct crack cluster distribution patterns are identified, allowing for the evaluation of regional stability through microseismic event density and ellipsoidal model parameters. The process of crack propagation involves independent development at nucleation positions, mutual influence between adjacent locations, and subsequent crack growth and propagation. Additionally, we examine crack evolution prior to roof collapse and establish a connectivity model between surface and goaf roof cracks. When microseismic events are identified as developing along a plane, it indicates a higher risk of damage in that area. Through the analysis of crack propagation location and angle, our study provides a theoretical foundation for predicting crack direction. Notably, our model's findings align with onsite observations, demonstrating its practical effectiveness. Proof of work (PoW) is one of the most widely used consensus algorithms in blockchain networks. It mainly uses the competition between mining nodes to obtain block rewards. However, this competition for computational power will allow malicious nodes to obtain illegal profits, bringing potential security threats to blockchain systems. A distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack is a major threat to the PoW algorithm. It utilizes multiple nodes in the blockchain network to attack honest miners to obtain illegal rewards. To solve this problem, academia has proposed a DDoS attack detection mechanism based on reinforcement learning methods and static game modeling methods based on mining pools. However, these methods cannot effectively make miners choose the strategy with the best profit over time when facing DDoS attacks. Therefore, this paper proposes a dynamic evolutionary game model for miners facing DDoS attacks under blockchain networks to solve the above problems for the first time. We address the model by replicating the dynamic equation to obtain a stable solution. According to the theorem of the Lyapunov method, we also obtain the only stable strategy for miners facing DDoS attacks. The experimental results show that compared with the static method, the dynamic method can affect game playing and game evolution over time. Thermal management systems are critical to the maintenance of lithium-ion battery performance in new energy vehicles. While phase change materials are frequently employed in battery thermal management systems, it's important to address the concerns related to their leakage and flammability, as they can pose hazards to the safety performance of batteries. This paper proposes a novel flame retardant composite phase change material (CPCM) consisting of paraffin, high-density polyethylene, expanded graphite, ammonium polyphosphate, red phosphorus, and zinc oxide. The performance of CPCMs containing different ratios of flame retardants is investigated, and their effects when applied to battery thermal management systems are compared. The results demonstrate that the leakage rate of the flame retardant CPCMs is maintained within 1%, indicating excellent flame retardant performance and thermal management efficiency. The combination of ammonium polyphosphate and red phosphorus in the flame retardant exhibits effective synergistic effects, while zinc oxide may help phosphate compounds create their bridging bonds, which would then make it possible to construct a char layer that would separate heat and oxygen. Under a 2C discharge rate, the maximum temperature of the battery pack remains below 50 °C, and the temperature difference can be controlled within 5 °C. In recent years, natural polysaccharides have been widely used in the preparation of drug delivery systems. In this paper, novel polysaccharide-based nanoparticles were prepared by layer-by-layer assembly technology using silica as a template. The layers of nanoparticles were constructed based on the electrostatic interaction between a new pectin named NPGP and chitosan (CS). The targeting ability of nanoparticles was formed by grafting the RGD peptide, a tri-peptide motif containing arginine, glycine, and aspartic acid with high affinity to integrin receptors. The layer-by-layer assembly nanoparticles (RGD-(NPGP/CS)3NPGP) exhibited a high encapsulation efficiency (83.23 ± 6.12%), loading capacity (76.51 ± 1.24%), and pH-sensitive release property for doxorubicin. The RGD-(NPGP/CS)3NPGP nanoparticles showed better targeting to HCT-116 cells, the integrin αvβ3 high expression human colonic epithelial tumor cell line with higher uptake efficiency than MCF7 cells, the human breast carcinoma cell line with normal integrin expression. In vitro antitumor activity tests showed that the doxorubicin-loaded nanoparticles could effectively inhibit the proliferation of the HCT-116 cells. Swarming regulation is complicated in flagellated bacteria, especially those possessing dual flagellar systems. It remains unclear whether and how the movement of the constitutive polar flagellum is regulated during swarming motility of these bacteria. Here, we report the downregulation of polar flagellar motility by the c-di-GMP effector FilZ in the marine sedimentary bacterium Pseudoalteromonas sp. SM9913. Strain SM9913 possesses two flagellar systems, and filZ is located in the lateral flagellar gene cluster. The function of FilZ is negatively controlled by intracellular c-di-GMP. Swarming in strain SM9913 consists of three periods. Deletion and overexpression of filZ revealed that, during the period when strain SM9913 expands quickly, FilZ facilitates swarming. In vitro pull-down and bacterial two-hybrid assays suggested that, in the absence of c-di-GMP, FilZ interacts with the CheW homolog A2230, which may be involved in the chemotactic signal transduction pathway to the polar flagellar motor protein FliMp, to interfere with polar flagellar motility. When bound to c-di-GMP, FilZ loses its ability to interact with A2230. Bioinformatic investigation indicated that filZ-like genes are present in many bacteria with dual flagellar systems. Solar light is a renewable source of energy that can be used and transformed into electricity using clean energy technology. In this study, we used direct current magnetron sputtering (DCMS) to sputter p-type cuprous oxide (Cu2O) films with different oxygen flow rates (fO2) as hole-transport layers (HTLs) for perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The PSC device with the structure of ITO/Cu2O/perovskite/[6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PC61BM)/bathocuproine (BCP)/Ag showed a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 7.91%. Subsequently, a high-power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS) Cu2O film was embedded and promoted the device performance to 10.29%. As HiPIMS has a high ionization rate, it can create higher density films with low surface roughness, which passivates surface/interface defects and reduces the leakage current of PSCs. We further applied the superimposed high-power impulse magnetron sputtering (superimposed HiPIMS) derived Cu2O as the HTL, and we observed PCEs of 15.20% under one sun (AM1.5G, 1000 Wm−2) and 25.09% under indoor illumination (TL-84, 1000 lux). The nanogels made from these polysaccharides and their derivatives are often used to construct drug delivery systems owing to their biocompatible, biodegradable, non-toxic, water-soluble, and bioactive characteristics. In this work, a novel pectin with unique gelling properties was extracted from the seed of Nicandra physalodes (NPGP). The structural research indicated that NPGP was a low methoxyl pectin with a high content of galacturonic acid. NPGP-based nanogels (NGs) were accomplished employing the water in oil (W/O) nano-emulsion method. The cysteamine containing reduction-responsive bond and integrin-targeting RGD peptide were also grafted onto NPGP. The anti-tumor drug doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX) was loaded during the formation of NGs, and the performance of DOX delivery was studied. The NGs were characterized by UV-vis, DLS, TEM, FT-IR, and XPS. The results showed that the prepared NGs were nanosized (167.6 ± 53.86 nm), had excellent encapsulation efficiency (91.61 ± 0.85%), and possessed a fine drug loading capacity (8.40 ± 0.16%). The drug release experiment showed that DOX@NPGP-SS-RGD had good redox-responsive performance. Furthermore, the results of cell experiments revealed good biocompatibility of prepared NGs, along with selective absorption by HCT-116 cells through integrin receptor-mediated endocytosis to play an anti-tumor effect. Agricultural land use has a remarkable influence on the stock and distribution of soil organic carbon (SOC). However, both regional soil sampling and process-based ecosystem models for SOC estimation at the regional scale have limitations when applied in areas with a large land use change. In the present study, a framework (CMCS) combining CENTURY modeling (CM) and chronosequences sampling (CS) was established, and a case study was conducted in Cangshan County, where vegetable cultivation conversion from grain production was significant in recent decades. The SOC stock (SOCS) of the non-vegetable area estimated by CM was comparable to that estimated by regional soil sampling in 2008. This result confirmed that CM was reliable in modeling SOC dynamics in a non-vegetable area without land use change. However, when applied to the overall cropland of Cangshan County, the CM, without considering the land use change, underestimated the SOCS by 0.23 Tg (6%), compared with the observed measurements (3.58 and 3.81 Tg, respectively). Using the CMCS framework of our study, the underestimation of CM was offset by the SOC sequestration estimated by CS. The SOCS estimated by the CMCS framework ranged from 3.72 to 4.02 Tg, demonstrating that this framework is reliable for the regional SOC estimation of large-area land use change. In addition, annual SOCS dynamics were obtained by this framework. The CMCS framework provides a low-cost and practicable method for the estimation of the regional SOC dynamic, which can further support the strategy of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality in China. The R294K mutation in neuraminidase (NA) causes resistance to oseltamivir in the avian influenza virus H7N9. Reverse transcription droplet digital polymerase chain reaction (RT-dd PCR) is a novel technique for detecting single-nucleotide polymorphisms. This study aimed to develop an RT-dd PCR method for detecting the R294K mutation in H7N9. Primers and dual probes were designed using the H7N9 NA gene and the annealing temperature was optimized at 58.0 °C. The sensitivity of our RT-dd PCR method was not significantly different from that of RT-qPCR (p = 0.625), but it could specifically detect R294 and 294K in H7N9. Among 89 clinical samples, 2 showed the R294K mutation. These two strains were evaluated using a neuraminidase inhibition test, which revealed that their sensitivity to oseltamivir was greatly reduced. The sensitivity and specificity of RT-dd PCR were similar to those of RT-qPCR and its accuracy was comparable to that of NGS. Simple Summary: Interval-compressed chemotherapy was evaluated in Asian children and young adults with sarcomas to assess the feasibility of this treatment strategy. Ultimately, the goal is to improve survival in this group of individuals with high-risk malignancies without increasing short-term or long-term toxicities. The feasibility of this strategy in Asian patients with sarcomas needed to be established prior to evaluating the efficacy of this approach in a prospective trial. Twelve Asian patients with sarcoma received interval-compressed (ic-) chemotherapy scheduled every 14 days with a regimen of vincristine (2 mg/m2), doxorubicin (75 mg/m2), and cyclophosphamide (1200–2200 mg/m2) (VDC) alternating with a regimen of ifosfamide (9000 mg/m2) and etoposide (500 mg/m2) (IE), with filgrastim (5–10 mcg/kg/day) between cycles. Carboplatin (800 mg/m2) was added for CIC-rearranged sarcoma. The patients were treated with 129 cycles of ic-VDC/IE with a median interval of 19 days (interquartile range [IQR], 15–24 days. Median nadirs (IQR) were neutrophil count, 134 (30–396) × 106/L at day 11 (10–12), recovery by day 15 (14–17) and platelet count, 35 (23–83) × 109/L at day 11 (10–13), recovery by day 17 (14–21). Fever and bacteremia were observed in 36% and 8% of cycles, respectively. The diagnoses were Ewing sarcoma (6), rhabdomyosarcoma (3), myoepithelial carcinoma (1), malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (1), and CIC-DUX4 Sarcoma (1). The global navigation satellite system (GNSS) precise point positioning (PPP) technique has been commonly applied to structural displacement monitoring. Considering the sheltering effect, GNSS receivers are regularly mounted on the top of a structure, but the structure is often not a rigid body; therefore, the receiver should also be mounted on the wall of the structure. Combining five constellations, GNSS can effectively reduce the sheltering effect. Therefore, this study attempts to apply the five-constellation PPP technique to monitor structural long-term displacements on the wall (SLDW) and structural vibrational displacements on the wall (SVDW) and then analyze their performance. Two novel methods are proposed in monitoring SVDW. Firstly, semi-generated measurements are designed to generate pseudo-environments with vibrations for the receiver. Therefore, additional instruments are not necessary to generate vibrations. Secondly, to further reduce the sheltering effect, a position-constrained PPP (PCPPP) model is developed. Formal performance analyses are presented in this study, and the results show that using the five-constellation PPP to monitor SLDW and SVDW in the horizontal direction is possible as long as the sheltering effect over the half sky of the receiver is not severe. In monitoring SVDW, the PCPPP model can perform better than the classical PPP model and be successful in the horizontal direction when the condition of elevation cutoff is given as high as 50°. Given the escalated gravity of interest in green start-ups in recent years, extant research on green entrepreneurial behavior has investigated the influence of green entrepreneurial intention in stimulating behavior. However, factors that shape green entrepreneurial intention warrant empirical scrutiny to provide a more nuanced understanding of how green entrepreneurial intention transforms into green entrepreneurial behavior. This study aims to explore the role of an individual's cognitive mechanism, i.e., green mindfulness, in predicting university students' green entrepreneurial behavior. The study examines a serial mediation model of green intrinsic motivation and green entrepreneurial intention in the relationship between green mindfulness and green entrepreneurial behavior. In addition, the study investigates the moderating role of spiritual intelligence in the direct relationship between green mindfulness and green intrinsic motivation, and the indirect association between green mindfulness and green entrepreneurial intention through green intrinsic motivation. The study adopts a time-lagged design to collect data from university students from Punjab, Pakistan. The authors analyze 395 responses from students in their final years using SmartPLS (v 4.0). As projected, our findings reveal that green mindfulness elevates green entrepreneurial intention through the mediator effect of green intrinsic motivation, which translates into green entrepreneurial behavior. Furthermore, spiritual intelligence significantly moderates the relationship between green mindfulness and green entrepreneurial intention, mediated by green intrinsic motivation, such that at high levels of spiritual intelligence the association is more pronounced and vice versa. The study presents several noteworthy theoretical and practical implications. From a theoretical perspective, the study contributes to the extant literature by investigating the link between green mindfulness and green entrepreneurial behavior through the serial mediator effects of green entrepreneurial intention and green intrinsic motivation and the moderator effect of spiritual intelligence. Furosemide is a widely used loop diuretic in the treatment of congestive heart failure and edema. During the preparation of furosemide, a new process-related impurity G in the levels ranging from 0.08% to 0.13% was detected in pilot batches by a new high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method. The new impurity was isolated and characterized by comprehensive analysis of FT-IR, Q-TOF/LC-MS, 1D-NMR (1H, 13C, and DEPT), and 2D-NMR (1H-1H-COSY, HSQC, and HMBC) spectroscopy data. The possible formation pathway of impurity G was also discussed in detail. Moreover, a novel HPLC method was developed and validated for the determination of impurity G and the other six known impurities registered in the European Pharmacopoeia as per ICH guidelines. The HPLC method was validated with respect to system suitability, linearity, the limit of quantitation, the limit of detection, precision, accuracy, and robustness. The characterization of impurity G and the validation of its quantitative HPLC method were reported for the first time in this paper. The thermal safety problem of lithium-ion batteries (LIB) in use requires an excellent thermal management system to preserve it. In the paper, an expansion flame-retardant composed of APP and CFA and kaolinite is used to enhance the flame-retardant property of phase change materials (PCM). The performances of PCM and their property in the thermal management of LIB were studied. The results indicate that the kaolinite can improve the long-term thermostability of PCM. The addition of flame retardant can make the flame-retardant property of PCM reach V0 level. The synergistic action of expansion flame-retardant and kaolinite can increase the residual carbon and enhance the thermal reliability of flame-retardant PCM (RPCM). The RPCM has an obvious cooling effect on the surface temperature of the battery. The RPCM can reduce the maximum temperature of the cell to 37.4 °C at 3 C, which is 12 °C lower than pure PA. The peak temperature of the battery pack at 3 C is also reduced to 50.28 °C by the flame-retardant PCM, and the temperature difference is kept within 5 °C. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sulfate-bearing soils, which causes many engineering problems, e.g., cracking, collapse, and pavement layer settlement, are often encountered in the construction of pavements. Ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS)-magnesia (MgO) has been regarded as an effective curing agent in the treatment of sulfate-bearing soil containing gypsum. However, field sulfate-bearing soils usually include other forms of sulfates, such as sodium sulfate (Na2SO4) and magnesium sulfate (MgSO4). Currently, few studies have investigated the effect of the type of sulfate on the properties of sulfate-bearing soil stabilized with GGBS-MgO. In this study, GGBS-MgO was used to treat Ca-sulfate-soil and Mg-sulfate-soil. Swelling, unconfined compressive strength (UCS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) tests were employed to investigate the properties of the stabilized soils. The results showed that when suitable GGBS:MgO ratios were achieved, the swelling of the two types of sulfate-bearing soils could be well suppressed. However, the trend that the swelling varied with the decrease in the GGBS:MgO ratios was opposite between the two soils. The UCS of Mg-sulfate-soils was much lower than that of the Ca-sulfate-soils after the stabilization of GGBS-MgO irrespective of the curing or soaking stage. CSH significantly occurred in Ca-sulfated soils treated by GGBS-MgO. Ettringite was not observed in the soil with GGBS-MgO = 9:1 but was observed in 6:4. Compared to Ca-sulfate-soils, MSH and less CSH were formed in Mg-sulfate-soils stabilized with GGBS-MgO, which caused the lower strength of the stabilized Mg-sulfate-soils. No ettringite was formed in such soils. Hence, the sulfate type contained in the soils had a significant effect on the swelling and strength properties of sulfate-bearing soils with GGBS-MgO, and so the sulfate needs to be identified before the soil's stabilization. The objective of this article was to combine tea polyphenols, gallic acid, and cinnamon essential oil to construct a natural extract-complex microemulsion system (NMs) with good antibacterial activity, antioxidant activity, and stability, as well as low irritation. NMs were characterized by particle size distribution, electrical conductivity, and light transmittance. The stability, as well as the antimicrobial, antioxidant, irritation, and antimicrobial mechanisms, of NMs were also studied. The results showed that NMs had a significant antimicrobial function against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida albicans and Aspergillus brasiliensis. The minimum inhibitory concentrations were 156 μg/mL, 62.5 μg/mL, 125 μg/mL, 250 μg/mL, and 125 μg/mL, respectively. Through the cell membrane permeability test and growth curve test of bacteria and fungi, we concluded that the NMs' mechanism of action on bacteria and fungi could be interpreted as NMs mainly altering the permeability of cell membranes to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi. Hydrological drought forecasting is essential for effective water resource management planning. Innovations in computer science and artificial intelligence (AI) have been incorporated into Earth science research domains to improve predictive performance for water resource planning and disaster management. Forecasting of future hydrological drought can assist with mitigation strategies for various stakeholders. This study uses the transformer deep learning model to forecast hydrological drought, with a benchmark comparison with the long short-term memory (LSTM) model. These models were applied to the Apalachicola River, Florida, with two gauging stations located at Chattahoochee and Blountstown. Daily stage-height data from the period 1928–2022 were collected from these two stations. The two deep learning models were used to predict stage data for five different time steps: 30, 60, 90, 120, and 180 days. A drought series was created from the forecasted values using a monthly fixed threshold of the 75th percentile (75Q). The transformer model outperformed the LSTM model for all of the timescales at both locations when considering the following averages: M S E = 0.11 , M A E = 0.21 , R S M E = 0.31 , and R 2 = 0.92 for the Chattahoochee station, and M S E = 0.06 , M A E = 0.19 , R S M E = 0.23 , and R 2 = 0.93 for the Blountstown station. The transformer model exhibited greater accuracy in generating the same drought series as the observed data after applying the 75Q threshold, with few exceptions. Considering the evaluation criteria, the transformer deep learning model accurately forecasts hydrological drought in the Apalachicola River, which could be helpful for drought planning and mitigation in this area of contested water resources, and likely has broad applicability elsewhere. A water-soluble sulfated polysaccharide, F2-1, was obtained from the marine green alga, Codium isthmocladum, using ion-exchange and size-exclusion chromatography. Structure analysis showed that the F2-1 was a sulfated arabinan comprising Ara, Rha, Man, Gal, and Xyl with an 18% sulfate content and a molecular weight of 100 kDa. Methylation analysis combined with desulfation, GC-MS, IR, and NMR spectroscopy showed that the backbone of F2-1 was →4)-β-L-Arap(1→ residue. Its 2-O and/or 3-O positions showed sulfate modification; additionally, the 2-O or 3-O position showed branch points. The side chains were composed of →5)-β-D-Galf, (1→2,6)-β-D-Galf(1→, (1→2)-β-L-Rhap4S, →4)-α-D-Glcp(1→, and terminal α-D-Galp(1→ and β-D-Xylp(1→. Polysaccharides containing β-D-galactofuranose are rarely found in seaweed. F2-1 exhibited significant anticoagulant activity in vitro. A kind of hydroxylated polymethoxyflavone (PMFs) existing in the citrus genus, 5-Demethyltangeretin (5-DTAN), has been reported to possess several bioactivities in vitro and in vivo. The aim of this study was to investigate whether acetylation could enhance the anticancer activity and oral bioavailability of 5-DTAN. PC-3 human prostate cancer cells were treated with tangeretin (TAN), 5-DTAN, and 5-acetylated TAN (5-ATAN), and the results showed that the cytotoxic effect 5-ATAN (IC50 value of 5.1 µM) on the cell viability of PC-3 cells was stronger than that of TAN (IC50 value of 17.2 µM) and 5-DTAN (IC50 value of 11.8 µM). Compared to 5-DTAN, 5-ATAN treatment caused a more pronounced DNA ladder, increased the sub-G1 phase population, and induced G2/M phase arrest in the cell cycle of PC-3 cells. We also found that 5-ATAN triggered the activation of caspase-3 and the progression of the intrinsic mitochondrial pathway in PC-3 cells, suggesting the induction of apoptosis. In a cell wound healing test, 5-ATAN dose-dependently reduced the cell migration, and the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) was decreased after 48 h of 5-ATAN treatment. Moreover, oral administration of 5-ATAN showed a significantly stronger inhibitory effect on tumor size and tumor weight in tumor-bearing nude mice than those of vehicle or the 5-DTAN group (p < 0.05). Furthermore, pharmacokinetic results showed that single-dose oral administration of 5-ATAN exhibited a higher maximum concentration (Cmax) and area under the curve (AUC) of 5-DTAN in plasma than that of 5-DTAN. More extensive distribution of 5-DTAN to most tissues of mice was also observed in mice treated with 5-ATAN for 7 days. Simple Summary: In this manuscript, we describe the design and synthesis of a nanocomposite containing afatinib, polypyrrole, and iron oxide (PIA-NC) to molecularly target epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-overexpressing cancer cells for photothermal conversion. In addition to physical and chemical characterization, we also showed that PIA-NC induces selective reactive oxygen species surge and apoptosis in response to sublethal near-infrared light only in EGFR-overexpressing cancer cells, not in EGFR-negative fibroblasts. The work demonstrates the feasibility of photothermal therapy with cellular precision. Near-infrared–photothermal therapy (NIR-PTT) is a potential modality for cancer treatment. Directing photothermal effects specifically to cancer cells may enhance the therapeutic index for the best treatment outcome. While epithelial growth factor receptor (EGFR) is commonly overexpressed/genetically altered in human malignancy, it remains unknown whether targeting EGFR with tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI)-conjugated nanoparticles may direct NIR-PTT to cancers with cellular precision. In the present study, we tested this possibility through the fabrication of a polypyrrole–iron oxide–afatinib nanocomposite (PIA-NC). In the PIA-NC, a biocompatible and photothermally conductive polymer (polypyrrole) was conjugated to a TKI (afatinib) that binds to overexpressed wild-type EGFR without overt cytotoxicity. A Fenton catalyst (iron oxide) was further encapsulated in the NC to drive the intracellular ROS surge upon heat activation. Diverse physical and chemical characterization experiments were conducted. Particle internalization, cytotoxicity, ROS production, and apoptosis in EGFR-positive and -negative cell lines were investigated in the presence and absence of NIR. We found that the PIA-NCs were stable with a size of 243 nm and a zeta potential of +35 mV. These PIA-NCs were readily internalized close to the cell membrane by all types of cells used in the study. The Fourier transform infrared spectra showed 3295 cm−1 peaks; substantial O–H stretching was seen, with significant C=C stretching at 1637 cm−1; and a modest appearance of C–O–H bending at 1444 cm−1 confirmed the chemical conjugation of afatinib but not iron oxide to the NC. At a NIR-PTT energy level that has a minimal cytotoxic effect, PIA-NC significantly sensitizes EGFR-overexpressing A549 lung cancer cells to NIR-PTT-induced cytotoxicity at a rate of 70%, but in EGFR-negative 3T3 fibroblasts the rate was 30%. Within 1 min of NIR-PTT, a surge of intracellular ROS was found in PIA-NC-treated A549 cells. This was followed by early induction of cellular apoptosis for 54 ± 0.081% of A549 cells. The number of viable cells was less than a quarter of a percent. Viability levels of A549 cells that had been treated with NIR or PIA were only 50 ± 0.216% and 80 ± 0.216%, respectively. Only 10 ± 0.816% of NIH3T3 cells had undergone necrosis, meaning that 90 ± 0.124% were alive. Viability levels were 65 ± 0.081% and 81 ± 0.2%, respectively, when only NIR and PIA were used. PIA binding was effective against A549 cells but not against NIH3T3 cells. The outcome revealed that higher levels of NC + NIR exposure caused cancer cells to produce more ROS. In summary, our findings proved that a molecularly targeted NC provides an orchestrated platform for cancer cell-specific delivery of NIR-PTT. The geometric proximity design indicates a novel approach to minimizing the off-target biological effects of NIR-PTT. "Smart medical" applications refer to the fusion of technology and medicine that connects all linked sensor equipment with the patients, including those that measure physiological signals, such as blood pressure, pulse, and ECG. In addition, these physiological signal data are highly private and should be safely protected. It takes much longer to complete authentication processes in the traditional way, either based on public key infrastructure or attribute-based encryption, which is a burden for IoT devices. Hence, on the basis of attribute-based encryption, we propose lightweight authentication to shorten the time spent on authentication. Moreover, we use the patients' data and timestamps as seeds to generate random numbers for authentication. The experiments show that the lightweight authentication using Xeon E3-1230 computer is about 4.45 times faster than complete authentication and 5.8 times faster than complete authentication when using Raspberry Pi. High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering (HiPIMS) has generated a great deal of interest by offering significant advantages such as high target ionization rate, high plasma density, and the smooth surface of the sputtered films. This study discusses the deposition of copper nitride thin films via HiPIMS at different deposition pressures and then examines the impact of the deposition pressure on the structural and electrical properties of Cu3N films. At low deposition pressure, Cu-rich Cu3N films were obtained, which results in the n-type semiconductor behavior of the films. When the deposition pressure is increased to above 15 mtorr, Cu3N phase forms, leading to a change in the conductivity type of the film from n-type to p-type. According to our analysis, the Cu3N film deposited at 15 mtorr shows p-type conduction with the lowest resistivity of 0.024 Ω·cm and the highest carrier concentration of 1.43 × 1020 cm−3. Furthermore, compared to the properties of Cu3N films deposited via conventional direct current magnetron sputtering (DCMS), the films deposited via HiPIMS show better conductivity due to the higher ionization rate of HiPIMS. This study aims to present a novel neural network architecture for sensor-based gesture detection and recognition. The algorithm is able to detect and classify accurately a sequence of hand gestures from the sensory data produced by accelerometers and gyroscopes. Each hand gesture in the sequence is regarded as an object with a pair of key intervals. The detection and classification of each gesture are equivalent to the identification and matching of the corresponding key intervals. A simple automatic labelling is proposed for the identification of key intervals without manual inspection of sensory data. This could facilitate the collection and annotation of training data. To attain superior generalization and regularization, a multitask learning algorithm for the simultaneous training for gesture detection and classification is proposed. A prototype system based on smart phones for remote control of home appliances was implemented for the performance evaluation. Experimental results reveal that the proposed algorithm provides an effective alternative for applications where accurate detection and classification of hand gestures by simple networks are desired. A TiO2 strip array with a thickness of 90 nm was fabricated by photolithography and physical vapor deposition. This work utilized the chemical and physical methods to fabricate the TiO2 strip array. A porous semiconductor layer made of TiO2 nanoparticles was coated on the TiO2 strip array. The TiO2 strip array has a one-dimensional protrusive structure. The energy conversion efficiency (4.38%) of a dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) with the TiO2 strip array exceeded that (3.20%) of a DSSC without a TiO2 strip array by 37%. In addition, this result was verified by the electrochemical impedance spectra of the two DSSCs. Therefore, the TiO2 strip array can be used to increase the energy conversion efficiencies of DSSCs. The large energy conversion efficiency of the DSSC with the TiO2 strip array arises from the large surface area of the one-dimensional protrusive structure and its specific electron transport paths. Although cesarean section (CS) has become a common method of child delivery in recent decades, the choice between general anesthesia (GA) and neuraxial anesthesia (NA) for CS must be carefully considered. Depending on the type of anesthesia used in CS, a major outcome observed is the occurrence of postpartum depression (PPD). This study investigated the association between PPD risk and the anesthesia method used in CS by using data from three linked nationwide databases in Taiwan, namely, the National Health Insurance Research Database, the National Birth Reporting Database, and the National Death Index Database. After propensity score matching by baseline depressive disorders, maternal demographics, status at delivery, infant's health, maternal diseases during pregnancy, and age of partner, we included women who had natural births (n = 15,706), cesarean sections with GA (n = 15,706), and cesarean sections with NA (n = 15,706). A conditional logistic regression was used to estimate the odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of PPDs, including depression, sleep disorder, and medication with hypnotics or antidepressants, under anesthesia during CS. The prevalence rates of combined PPDs were 26.66%, 43.87%, and 36.30% in natural births, CS with GA, and CS with NA, respectively. In particular, the proportions of postpartum use of hypnotic drugs or antidepressants were 21.70%, 39.77%, and 31.84%, which were significantly different. The aORs (95% CIs) were 2.15 (2.05–2.25) for the included depressive disorders, 1.10 (1.00–1.21) for depression, 1.03 (0.96–1.11) for sleep disorder, and 2.38 (2.27–2.50) for medication with hypnotics or antidepressants in CS with GA compared with natural births. Women who underwent CS with GA had a significantly higher risk of depressive disorders and a higher need for antidepressants for sleep problems than those who underwent CS with NA. The risks of PPD were significantly associated with the anesthesia method, especially GA. Our results can assist physicians in carefully considering the appropriate anesthesia method for CS delivery, particularly with regard to postpartum drug abuse and drug safety. Current options for preventing or treating influenza are still limited, and new treatments for influenza viral infection are urgently needed. In the present study, we serendipitously found that a small-molecule inhibitor (AG1478), previously used for epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibition, demonstrated a potent activity against influenza both in vitro and in vivo. Surprisingly, the antiviral effect of AG1478 was not mediated by its EGFR inhibitory activity, as influenza virus was insensitive to EGFR blockade by other EGFR inhibitors or by siRNA knockdown of EGFR. Its antiviral activity was also interferon independent as demonstrated by a Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats (CRISPR) knockout approach. Instead, AG1478 was found to target the Golgi-specific brefeldin A-resistance guanine nucleotide exchange factor 1 (GBF1)–ADP-ribosylation factor 1 (ARF1) system by reversibly inhibiting GBF1 activity and disrupting its Golgi-cytoplasmic trafficking. Compared to known GBF1 inhibitors, AG1478 demonstrated lower cellular toxicity and better preservation of Golgi structure. Furthermore, GBF1 was found to interact with a specific set of viral proteins including M1, NP, and PA. Additionally, the alternation of GBF1 distribution induced by AG1478 treatment disrupted these interactions. Because targeting host factors, instead of the viral component, imposes a higher barrier for developing resistance, GBF1 modulation may be an effective approach to treat influenza infection. Here, we explored the possible interaction between duloxetine and SEP-363856 (SEP-856) in depression-related reactions. The results showed that oral administration of duloxetine showed powerful antidepressant-like effects in both the forced swimming test (FST) and the suspension tail test (TST). SEP-856 orally administered alone also exerted an antidepressant-like effect in FST and TST, especially at doses of 0.3, 1, and 10 mg/kg. In addition, duloxetine (15 mg/kg) and SEP-856 (15 mg/kg) both showed antidepressant-like effects in the sucrose preference test (SPT). Most importantly, in the above experiments, compared with duloxetine alone, the simultaneous use of duloxetine and SEP-856 caused a more significant antidepressant-like effect. It is worth noting that doses of drug combination in FST and TST did not change the motor activities of mice in the open-field test (OFT). At the same time, during the entire process of spermatogenesis in I M. rosenbergii i , Mr-KIFC1 localization was closely linked to nucleus reshaping (Figure 10a3-f3), which may explain the function of Mr-KIFC1 as a motor protein involved in sperm nucleus deformation. Time-averaged serum albumin (TSA) is commonly associated with clinical outcomes in hemodialysis (HD) patients and considered as a surrogate indicator of nutritional status. The whale optimization algorithm-based feature selection (WOFS) model could address the complex association between the clinical factors, and could further combine with regression models for application. The present study aimed to demonstrate an optimal multifactor TSA-associated model, in order to interpret the complex association between TSA and clinical factors among HD patients. A total of 829 HD patients who met the inclusion criteria were selected for analysis. Monthly serum albumin data tracked from January 2009 to December 2013 were converted into TSA categories based on a critical value of 3.5 g/dL. Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the association between TSA categories and multiple clinical factors using three types of feature selection models, namely the fully adjusted, stepwise, and WOFS models. Five features, albumin, age, creatinine, potassium, and HD adequacy index (Kt/V level), were selected from fifteen clinical factors by the WOFS model, which is the minimum number of selected features required in multivariate regression models for optimal multifactor model construction. The WOFS model yielded the lowest Akaike information criterion (AIC) value, which indicated that the WOFS model could achieve superior performance in the multifactor analysis of TSA for HD patients. Spiropyran-containing hydrogels that can respond to external stimuli such as temperature, light, and stress have attracted extensive attention in recent years. However, most of them are generally dual or multiple stimuli-responsive to external stimuli, and the interplay of different stimulus responses is harmful to their sensitivity. Herein, spiropyran bearing polymer beads incorporated PAM (poly(AM–co–MA/DMSP3)) hydrogels with sole mechanochromic properties were synthesized by emulsion polymerization of acrylamide (AM) and methyl acrylate (MA) in the presence of spiropyran dimethacrylate mechanophore (DMSP3) crosslinker. Due to the hydrophobic nature of MA and DMSP3, the resultant hydrogel afforded a rosary structure with DMSP3 bearing polymer beads incorporated in the PAM network. It is found that the chemical component (e.g., AM, MA, and DMSP3 concentrations) significantly affect the mechanical and mechanoresponsive properties of the as-obtained poly(AM–co–MA/DMSP3) hydrogel. Under optimal conditions, poly(AM–co–MA/DMSP3) hydrogel displayed high mechanical properties (tensile stress of 1.91 MPa, a tensile strain of 815%, an elastic modulus of 0.67 MPa, and tearing energy of 3920 J/m2), and a good self-recovery feature. Owing to the mechanoresponsive of SP3, the hydrogels exhibited reversible color changes under force-induced deformation and relaxed recovery states. More impressive, the poly(AM–co–MA/DMSP3) hydrogel showed a linear correlation between tensile strain and chromaticity (x, y) as well as a stain and resting time-dependent color recovery rate. Tranexamic acid (TXA) is an antifibrinolytic pharmacological agent, but its use in gastrointestinal bleeding remains contentious. Moreover, studies on the timing of TXA administration are limited. We examined whether early TXA administration reduced the risk of mortality in patients with gastrointestinal bleeding in a Taiwanese population. We used the National Health Insurance Research Database to identify patients diagnosed with gastrointestinal bleeding with early and late TXA treatment. We defined early treatment as initial TXA treatment in an emergency department and late treatment as initial TXA treatment after hospitalization. Mortality within 52 weeks was the primary outcome. A multivariable analysis using a multiple Cox regression model was applied for data analysis. Propensity score matching (PSM) was performed to reduce the potential for bias caused by measured confounding variables. Of the 52,949 selected patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, 5127 were assigned to either an early or late TXA treatment group after PSM. The incidence of mortality was significantly decreased during the first and fourth weeks (adjusted HR (aHR): 0.65, 95% CI: 0.56–0.75). A Kaplan–Meier curve revealed a significant decrease in cumulative incidence of mortality in the early TXA treatment group (log-rank test: p < 0.0001). Multiple Cox regression analysis revealed significantly lower mortality in the early TXA treatment group compared with the late treatment group (aHR: 0.64, 95% CI: 0.57–0.73). Thromboembolic events were not significantly associated with early or late TXA treatment (aHR: 1.03, 95% CI: 0.94–1.12). A Kaplan–Meier curve also revealed no significant difference in either venous or arterial events (log-rank test: p = 0.3654 and 0.0975, respectively). In conclusion, early TXA treatment was associated with a reduced risk of mortality in patients with gastrointestinal bleeding compared with late treatment, without an increase in thromboembolic events. Most yeasts causing infections in humans are part of commensal microflora and etiological agents of different infections when hosts become susceptible, usually due to becoming immunocompromised. The colonization of potentially pathogenic microbes in the oral cavity is increased by poor oral hygiene. This follow-up survey was conducted approximately two months after providing information on proper oral care at 10 nursing homes in Taiwan. Among the 117 of 165 residents colonized by yeasts, 67 were colonized by more than one yeast species. A total of 231 isolates comprising eight fungal genera and 25 species were identified. Candida albicans (44.6%) was the dominant species, followed by Candida glabrata (17.7%), Candida parapsilosis (8.7%), Candida tropicalis (7.8%), and Candida pararugosa (7.3%). Residents having a yeast colony-forming unit >10 (OR, 8.897; 95% CI 2.972–26.634; p < 0.001) or using a wheelchair (OR, 4.682; 95% CI 1.599–13.705; p = 0.005) were more likely to be colonized by multiple species. By comparing before and after oral-care education, dry mouth (OR, 3.199; 95% CI 1.448–7.068; p = 0.011) and having heart disease (OR, 2.681; 95% CI 1.068–6.732; p = 0.036) emerged as two independent risk factors for increased density of colonizing yeast. Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has evolved to be the treatment of choice for patients with severe aortic stenosis and high perioperative risk. Cardiogenic shock is one of the most severe complications during the TAVI procedure, especially as the prognosis of cardiogenic shock secondary to aortic stenosis is very poor. This situation can be challenging, while extracorporeal membranous oxygenation (ECMO) can be a treatment option. Here, we reported on an 88-year-old female patient who had been diagnosed as non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) and critical aortic valve stenosis (AS) with a logistic Euroscore of 25%. Percutaneous coronary angioplasty (PCI) was performed smoothly and developed tachy-brady arrhythmia of atrial fibrillation then cardiac arrest at the beginning of the TAVI procedure. A v-a ECMO was installed at her left femoral side. Afterward, the TAVI procedure was completed accordingly; her consciousness recovered and Levosimendan therapy enhanced her left-ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) from 22% to 40%. Five days after TAVI, ECMO was replaced by intra-aortic balloon pumping (IABP) and it was removed 3 days later. A minor complication of this therapy, e.g., muscular weakness in her left leg, was noted. The patient underwent rehabilitation for about 2 months, and was discharged from hospital with a wheel chair and clear consciousness. At the 24 month follow-up she was in good recovery and was able to walk upstairs to the second floor again. The recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN), a branch of the vagus nerve, supplies the motor and sensation function of the larynx. Generally, RLN detours around the right subclavian artery on the right side and the aortic arch on the left side. In a rare anatomical variant, called nonrecurrent laryngeal nerve (NRLN), the nerve takes an aberrant path rather than descending into the thorax as usual. First reported in 1823, NRLN is a rare anomaly arising almost exclusively on the right side, reported in 0.3–0.8% of people, and associated with vascular anomalies of embryonic aortic arch development. The atypical vascular pattern of aberrant subclavian artery (arteria lusoria) running behind the trachea and esophagus allows the vagus nerve to pass freely, which then directly branches out as NRLN at the level of the larynx. On the other hand, cases of left NRLN, only reported in 0.004% of people, are all accompanied by significant pathologies such as situs inversus totalis with opposite vascular pattern of left aberrant subclavian artery. This rare anatomical variation is clinically important, as NLRN is a major risk factor for iatrogenic injury during thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy, and other invasive procedures in the head and neck region.
