Lysine plays a crucial role in promoting development, enhancing immune function, and improving the function of central nervous system tissues. The two configurational isomers of amino acids have significantly different effects. Currently, methods for chiral recognition of lysine have been reported; however, previous detection methods have drawbacks such as expensive equipment and complicated detection processes. Fluorescence analysis, on the other hand, boasts high sensitivity, strong selectivity, and simple operation. In this study, we synthesized four novel Binaphthyl-Amine (BINAM)-based fluorescent probes capable of specifically identifying the L-configuration of lysine among the twenty amino acids that constitute human proteins. The enantiomeric fluorescence enhancement ratio (ef or ΔIL/ΔID) reached up to 15.29, demonstrating high enantioselectivity. In addition, we assessed the probe's recognition capabilities under varying pH levels, reaction times, and metal ion conditions, along with its limit of detection (LOD) and quantum yield. Machining tools are a critical component in machine manufacturing, the life cycle of which is an asymmetrical process. Extracting and modeling the tool life variation features is very significant for accurately predicting the tool's remaining useful life (RUL), and it is vital to ensure product reliability. In this study, based on convolutional neural network (CNN) and bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM), a tool wear evolution and RUL prediction method by combining CNN-BiLSTM and attention mechanism is proposed. The powerful CNN is applied to directly process the sensor-monitored data and extract local feature information; the BiLSTM neural network is used to adaptively extract temporal features; the attention mechanism can selectively study the important degradation features and extract the tool wear status information. By evaluating the performance and generalization ability of the proposed method under different working conditions, two datasets are applied for experiments, and the proposed method outperforms the traditional method in terms of prediction accuracy. Groundwater is a major driving force for plant community distribution in arid areas worldwide. Although it is well known that groundwater has a significant impact on soil and vegetation, there is little information on how groundwater depth affects soil and vegetation in an arid inland basin desert riparian ecosystem. Therefore, quantitative analysis of the relationships among groundwater depth, soil properties and plant community distribution is necessary. A desert riparian ecosystem in the lower reaches of the Heihe River in an arid area of Northwest China was used to determine quantitative relationships among groundwater depth, soil and vegetation. Groundwater depth significantly increased with increased distance from the river. Soil and vegetation characteristics showed a significant trend with increasing groundwater depth. With increasing groundwater depth, soil water content, soil total nitrogen, soil total carbon, soil available phosphorus and soil available potassium decreased, while the soil bulk density and soil carbon:nitrogen (C:N) ratio increased. Soil pH and soil electrical conductivity followed quadratic function relationships with groundwater depth. Species richness, aboveground biomass, community coverage, community height, foliage projective cover and leaf area index all significantly decreased with increased groundwater depth. Groundwater depth and soil were associated with vegetation variance, explaining 85.8% of the vegetation variance. Groundwater depth was more important in explaining vegetation variance than soil properties (soil bulk density) and soil pH. Our observations indicate that changes in groundwater depth would have a significant influence on desert riparian forest vegetation, and that maintaining appropriate groundwater depth is necessary to preserve the riparian ecosystem. Simple Summary: Evaluating population genetic background and genomic selection signatures can provide important insights into the uniqueness and the genetic relationship among breeds. In this study, we analyzed the genetic diversity, population structure, and phylogenetic relationships between Huaxi cattle and its ancestors. The results showed that Huaxi cattle has formed its own unique genetic structure features, which could be clearly distinguished from its ancestors and similar populations. Moreover, some genes associated with important economic traits, including growth and development, reproduction, milk quality, and immune response, were identified by scanning potentially selected genomic regions, which may play an essential role in the excellent environmental adaptability and growth performance of Huaxi cattle. Our study will contribute to the genetic evaluation and rational breeding strategy, and give an extensive reference for understanding the genetic basis of economically important traits in Huaxi cattle. Huaxi cattle, a specialized beef cattle breed in China, has the characteristics of fast growth, high slaughter rate, and net meat rate, good reproductive performance, strong stress resistance, and wide adaptability. In this study, we evaluated the genetic diversity, population structure, and genetic relationships of Huaxi cattle and its ancestor populations at the genome-wide level, as well as detecting the selection signatures of Huaxi cattle. Principal component analysis (PCA) and phylogenetic analysis revealed that Huaxi cattle were obviously separated from other cattle populations. The admixture analysis showed that Huaxi cattle has distinct genetic structures among all populations at K = 4. It can be concluded that Huaxi cattle has formed its own unique genetic features. Using integrated haplotype score (iHS) and composite likelihood ratio (CLR) methods, we identified 143 and 199 potentially selected genes in Huaxi cattle, respectively, among which nine selected genes (KCNK1, PDLIM5, CPXM2, CAPN14, MIR2285D, MYOF, PKDCC, FOXN3, and EHD3) related to ion binding, muscle growth and differentiation, and immunity were detected by both methods. Our study sheds light on the unique genetic feature and phylogenetic relationship of Huaxi cattle, provides a basis for the genetic mechanism analysis of important economic traits, and guides further intensive breeding improvement of Huaxi cattle. Simple Summary: To reduce the breeding costs and promote the application of genomic selection (GS) in Chinese Simmental beef cattle, we developed a customized low-density single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) panel consisting of 30,684 SNPs. When comparing the predictive performance of the low-density SNP panel to that of the BovineHD Beadchip for 13 traits, we found that this ~30 K panel achieved moderate to high prediction accuracies for most traits, while reducing the prediction accuracies of six traits by 0.04–0.09 and decreasing the prediction accuracy of one trait by 0.2. For the remaining six traits, the usage of the low-density SNP panel was associated with a slight increase in prediction accuracy. Our studies suggested that the low-density SNP panel (~30 K) is a feasible and promising tool for cost-effective genomic prediction in Chinese Simmental beef cattle, which may provide breeding organizations with a cheaper option and greater returns on investment. Chinese Simmental beef cattle play a key role in the Chinese beef industry due to their great adaptability and marketability. To achieve efficient genetic gain at a low breeding cost, it is crucial to develop a customized cost-effective low-density SNP panel for this cattle population. Thirteen growth, carcass, and meat quality traits and a BovineHD Beadchip genotyping of 1346 individuals were used to select trait-associated variants and variants contributing to great genetic variance. In addition, highly informative SNPs with high MAF in each 500 kb sliding window and in each genic region were also included separately. A low-density SNP panel consisting of 30,684 SNPs was developed, with an imputation accuracy of 97.4% when imputed to the 770 K level. Among 13 traits, the average prediction accuracy levels evaluated by genomic best linear unbiased prediction (GBLUP) and BayesA/B/Cπ were 0.22–0.47 and 0.18–0.60 for the ~30 K array and BovineHD Beadchip, respectively. Generally, the predictive performance of the ~30 K array was trait-dependent, with reduced prediction accuracies for seven traits. While differences in terms of prediction accuracy were observed among the 13 traits, the low-density SNP panel achieved moderate to high accuracies for most of the traits and even improved the accuracies for some traits. Session-based recommendation, which aims to match user needs with rich resources based on anonymous sessions, nowadays plays a critical role in various online platforms (e.g., media streaming sites, search and e-commerce). Existing recommendation algorithms usually model a session as a sequence or a session graph to model transitions between items. Despite their effectiveness, we would argue that the performance of these methods is still flawed: (1) Using only fixed session item embedding without considering the diversity of users' interests and target items. (2) For user's long-term interest, the difficulty of capturing the different priorities for different items accurately. To tackle these defects, we propose a novel model which leverages both the target attentive network and self-attention network to improve the graph-neural-network (GNN)-based recommender. In our model, we first model user's interaction sequences as session graphs which serves as the input of the GNN, and each node vector involved in session graph can be obtained via the GNN. Next, target attentive network can activates different user interests corresponding to varied target items (i.e., the session embedding learned varies with different target items), which can reveal the relevance between users' interests and target items. At last, after applying the self-attention mechanism, the different priorities for different items can be captured to improve the precision of the long-term session representation. By using a hybrid of long-term and short-term session representation, we can capture users' comprehensive interests at multiple levels. With the rapid increase in the popularity of big data and internet technology, sequential recommendation has become an important method to help people find items they are potentially interested in. Traditional recommendation methods use only recurrent neural networks (RNNs) to process sequential data. Although effective, the results may be unable to capture both the semantic-based preference and the complex transitions between items adequately. In this paper, we model separated session sequences into session graphs and capture complex transitions using graph neural networks (GNNs). We further link items in interaction sequences with existing external knowledge base (KB) entities and integrate the GNN-based recommender with key-value memory networks (KV-MNs) to incorporate KB knowledge. Specifically, we set a key matrix to many relation embeddings that learned from KB, corresponding to many entity attributes, and set up a set of value matrices storing the semantic-based preferences of different users for the corresponding attribute. By using a hybrid of a GNN and KV-MN, each session is represented as the combination of the current interest (i.e., sequential preference) and the global preference (i.e., semantic-based preference) of that session. Heat shock 70 kDa protein 8 (HSPA8) and erb-b2 receptor tyrosine kinase 2 (ERBB2) were the promising candidates for milk protein concentration in dairy cattle revealed through previous RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) study. The objective of this post-RNA-Seq study was to confirm genetic effects of HSPA8 and ERBB2 on milk protein concentration in a large Chinese Holstein population and to evaluate the genetic effects of both genes on other milk production traits. There were 2 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) identified for HSPA8 and 11 SNPs for ERBB2 by sequencing 17 unrelated Chinese Holstein sires. The SNP-rs136632043 in HSPA8 had significant associations with all five milk production traits (p = 0.0086 to p < 0.0001), whereas SNP-rs132976221 was remarkably associated with three yield traits (p < 0.0001). Nine (ss1996900615, rs109017161, rs109122971, ss1996900614, rs110133654, rs109941438, rs110552983, rs133031530, and rs109763505) of 11 SNPs in ERBB2 were significantly associated with milk protein percentage (p = 0.0177 to p < 0.0001). A 12 Kb haplotype block was formed in ERBB2 and haplotype associations revealed similar effects on milk protein traits. Our findings confirmed the significant genetic effects of HSPA8 and ERBB2 on milk protein concentration and other milk production traits and SNP phenotypic variances above 1% may serve as genetic markers in dairy cattle breeding programs.
