Safety occurrence reports can contain valuable information on how incidents occur, revealing knowledge that can assist safety practitioners. This paper presents and discusses a literature review exploring how Natural Language Processing (NLP) has been applied to occurrence reports within safety-critical industries, informing further research on the topic and highlighting common challenges. Some of the uses of NLP include the ability for occurrence reports to be automatically classified against categories, and entities such as causes and consequences to be extracted from the text as well as the semantic searching of occurrence databases. The review revealed that machine learning models form the dominant method when applying NLP, although rule-based algorithms still provide a viable option for some entity extraction tasks. Recent advances in deep learning models such as Bidirectional Transformers for Language Understanding are now achieving a high accuracy while eliminating the need to substantially pre-process text. The construction of safety-themed datasets would be of benefit for the application of NLP to occurrence reporting, as this would allow the fine-tuning of current language models to safety tasks. An interesting approach is the use of topic modelling, which represents a shift away from the prescriptive classification taxonomies, splitting data into "topics". Where many papers focus on the computational accuracy of models, they would also benefit from real-world trials to further inform usefulness. The past few decades have witnessed remarkable progress in the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in medicine, notably in medical imaging. The application of ML to dental and oral imaging has also been developed, powered by the availability of clinical dental images. The present work aims to investigate recent progress concerning the application of ML in the diagnosis of oral diseases using oral X-ray imaging, namely the quality and outcome of such methods. The specific research question was developed using the PICOT methodology. The review was conducted in the Web of Science, Science Direct, and IEEE Xplore databases, for articles reporting the use of ML and AI for diagnostic purposes in X-ray-based oral imaging. Imaging types included panoramic, periapical, bitewing X-ray images, and oral cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). The search was limited to papers published in the English language from 2018 to 2022. The initial search included 104 papers that were assessed for eligibility. Of these, 22 were included for a final appraisal. The full text of the articles was carefully analyzed and the relevant data such as the clinical application, the ML models, the metrics used to assess their performance, and the characteristics of the datasets, were registered for further analysis. Small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play a fundamental role in the global economy. However, SMEs usually have different characteristics from larger enterprises, e.g., essential resource restrictions, lower performance, and higher environmental impacts. This requires them to search for strategies to be more competitive and sustainable. A possible solution relies on introducing Lean-Green practices. Previous research indicated that digitalization could be an enabler of Lean. Lean can also help to achieve increased environmental performance using the Lean-Green approach. In this study, this important yet under-studied area is investigated as we consider digitalization as an enabler for implementing lean in SMEs, with a focus on Lean-Green practices. A systematic literature review is executed, following a new framework based on topic modelling for extracting the papers. The topic modelling is executed through latent dirichlet allocation (LDA) which is a machine learning technique. In methodological means, this paper represents an example of the frontier of digitalization for research activities. Regarding the investigated focus, the main findings revealed that digitalization is an enabler to Lean and to Lean-Green. Avocado is one of the most commercialized and profitable fruits in the international market. Its cultivation and production are centered in countries characterized by tropical and subtropical climatic conditions, many of them with emerging economies. Moreover, the use of technology is key to agricultural production improvement strategies. Using avocado crop data to forecast the potential impacts of biotic and abiotic factors, combined with smart farming technologies, growers can apply measures during a single production phase to reduce the risks caused by pests and weather variations. Therefore, this paper aims to distinguish the most relevant variables related to agroclimatic and phytosanitary events in avocado crops, their incidence on production and risk management, as well as the emerging technologies used for the identification and analysis of pests and diseases in avocados. A scientific literature search was performed, and the first search found 608 studies, and once the screening process was applied, 37 papers were included in this review. In the results, three research questions were answered that described the pests and diseases with high impact on avocado production, along with the data sources and the principal enabling technologies used in the identification of agroclimatic and phytosanitary events in avocados. Electric vehicles (EVs) have already been acknowledged to be the most viable solution to the climate change that the entire globe has long been combating. Along the same line, it is a salient subject to expand the availability of EV charging infrastructure, which quintessentially necessitates the optimization of the charger's locations. This paper proposes to formulate the optimal EV charger location problem into a facility location problem (FLP). As an effort to find an efficient method to solve the well-known nonpolynomial deterministic (NP) hard problem, we present a comparative quantification among several representative solving techniques. This paper features two comprehensive case studies representing regions with an average and a high density of EVs. With the development of computer technology, landslide recognition based on machine learning methods has been widely applied in geological disaster management and research. However, in landslide identification, the problems of an insufficient number of samples and an imbalance of samples are often ignored; that is, landslide samples are much smaller than non-landslide samples. In order to solve this problem, taking the main urban area of Lanzhou City as an example, this paper proposes to construct a semi-supervised generated countermeasure network (SSGAN) model, which aims to achieve high performance with a limited number of labeled samples for precise landslide identification, and to help prevent and reduce the harm caused by disasters. In order to express the environmental characteristics of landslide development and the optical texture features of landslide occurrence, the study constructs three sets of samples to represent landslide features, including a landslide influencing factor sample set, a Sentinel-2A optical remote sensing sample set, a joint influencing factor and Sentinel-2A sample set. The three kinds of sample sets are transferred to SSGAN for training to form a comparative study. The results show that the joint sample set has excellent feature results in discriminator and generator. Through the experimental comparison, the model proposed in this paper is compared with the model without semi-supervised generated confrontation training. The experimental results show that the proposed method is better than the unsupervised adversarial learning model in terms of accuracy, F1 score, Kappa coefficient, and MIoU. A total of 160 landslides have been identified in the study area, with a total area of 10.328 km2, with an accuracy rate of 83%. Therefore, the generated results are accurate and reliable, and show that SSGAN can better distinguish landslides from non-landslides in an image, under the condition of obtaining a large number of unmarked environmental features; enhance the effect of landslide classification in complex geographical environment; and then put forward effective suggestions for the prevention and control of landslides and geological disasters in the main urban area of Lanzhou. This paper aims to use deep learning algorithms to identify and study the stability of breakwater armor blocks. It introduces a posture identification model for fender blocks using a Mask Region-based Convolutional Neural Network (R-CNN), which has been enhanced by considering factors affecting breakwater fender blocks. Furthermore, a wave prediction model for breakwaters is developed by integrating Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERTs) with Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (BiLSTM). The performance of these models is evaluated. The results show that the accuracy of the Mask R-CNN and its comparison algorithms initially increases and then decreases with higher Intersection Over Union (IOU) thresholds, peaking at 95.16% accuracy at an IOU threshold of 0.5. The BERT-BiLSTM wave prediction model maintains a loss value around 0.01 and an accuracy of approximately 90.00%. These results suggest that the proposed models offer more accurate stability assessments of breakwater armor blocks. By combining the random forest prediction model with BiLSTM, the wave characteristics and fender posture can be predicted better, offering reliable decision support for breakwater engineering. In recent years, emerging trends like smart contracts (SCs) and blockchain have promised to bolster data security. However, SCs deployed on Ethereum are vulnerable to malicious attacks. Adopting machine learning methods is proving to be a satisfactory alternative to conventional vulnerability detection techniques. Nevertheless, most current machine learning techniques depend on sufficient expert knowledge and solely focus on addressing well-known vulnerabilities. This paper puts forward a systematic literature review (SLR) of existing machine learning-based frameworks to address the problem of vulnerability detection. This SLR follows the PRISMA statement, involving a detailed review of 55 papers. In this context, we classify recently published algorithms under three different machine learning perspectives. We explore state-of-the-art machine learning-driven solutions that deal with the class imbalance issue and unknown vulnerabilities. We believe that algorithmic-level approaches have the potential to provide a clear edge over data-level methods in addressing the class imbalance issue. By emphasizing the importance of the positive class and correcting the bias towards the negative class, these approaches offer a unique advantage. This unique feature can improve the efficiency of machine learning-based solutions in identifying various vulnerabilities in SCs. We argue that the detection of unknown vulnerabilities suffers from the absence of a unique definition. Human activity recognition (HAR) remains an essential field of research with increasing real-world applications ranging from healthcare to industrial environments. As the volume of publications in this domain continues to grow, staying abreast of the most pertinent and innovative methodologies can be challenging. This survey provides a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art methods employed in HAR, embracing both classical machine learning techniques and their recent advancements. We investigate a plethora of approaches that leverage diverse input modalities including, but not limited to, accelerometer data, video sequences, and audio signals. Recognizing the challenge of navigating the vast and ever-growing HAR literature, we introduce a novel methodology that employs large language models to efficiently filter and pinpoint relevant academic papers. This not only reduces manual effort but also ensures the inclusion of the most influential works. We also provide a taxonomy of the examined literature to enable scholars to have rapid and organized access when studying HAR approaches. Through this survey, we aim to inform researchers and practitioners with a holistic understanding of the current HAR landscape, its evolution, and the promising avenues for future exploration. Addressing the formidable challenges posed by multiple jammers jamming multiple radars, which arise from spatial discretization, many degrees of freedom, numerous model input parameters, and the complexity of constraints, along with a multi-peaked objective function, this paper proposes a cooperative jamming resource allocation method, based on evolutionary reinforcement learning, that uses joint multi-domain information. Firstly, an adversarial scenario model is established, characterizing the interaction between multiple jammers and radars based on a multi-beam jammer model and a radar detection model. Subsequently, considering real-world scenarios, this paper analyzes the constraints and objective function involved in cooperative jamming resource allocation by multiple jammers. Finally, accounting for the impact of spatial, frequency, and energy domain information on jamming resource allocation, matrices representing spatial condition constraints, jamming beam allocation, and jamming power allocation are formulated to characterize the cooperative jamming resource allocation problem. Based on this foundation, the joint allocation of the jamming beam and jamming power is optimized under the constraints of jamming resources. Through simulation experiments, it was determined that, compared to the dung beetle optimizer (DBO) algorithm and the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm, the proposed evolutionary reinforcement learning algorithm based on DBO and Q-Learning (DBO-QL) offers 3.03% and 6.25% improvements in terms of jamming benefit and 26.33% and 50.26% improvements in terms of optimization success rate, respectively. In terms of algorithm response time, the proposed hybrid DBO-QL algorithm has a response time of 0.11 s, which is 97.35% and 96.57% lower than the response times of the DBO and PSO algorithms, respectively. With the implementation of the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) sulfur cap 2020, shipowners have had to choose suitable sulfur oxide emission abatement solutions to respond to this policy. The use of Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) and the installation of scrubbers are the main response solutions for bulk carriers today. In recent years, the epidemic has gradually improved, and the options facing shipowners may change. Based on the Clarkson Shipping Intelligence Network, this paper collects data related to newbuilding bulk carriers after the implementation of this policy, considers several factors affecting shipowners' decision, and adopts a machine learning approach for the first time to build a model and make predictions on emission abatement solutions to provide some reference for shipowners to choose a more suitable solution. The results of the study show that the Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) model is more suitable for the problem studied in this paper, and the highest prediction accuracy of about 84.25% with an Area Under the Curve (AUC) value of 0.9019 is achieved using this model with hyperparameter adjustment based on a stratified sampling divided data set. The model makes good predictions for newbuilding bulk carriers. In addition, the deadweight tonnage and annual distance traveled of a ship have a greater degree of influence on the choice of its option, which can be given priority in the decision making. In contrast to traditional cost–benefit analyses, this study incorporates economic and non-economic factors and uses machine learning methods for effective classification, which have the advantage of being fast, comparable, and highly accurate. With the continuous development of automotive intelligence, vehicle occupant detection technology has received increasing attention. Despite various types of research in this field, a simple, reliable, and highly private detection method is lacking. This paper proposes a method for vehicle occupant detection using millimeter-wave radar. Specifically, the paper outlines the system design for vehicle occupant detection using millimeter-wave radar. By collecting the raw signals of FMCW radar and applying Range-FFT and DoA estimation algorithms, a range–azimuth heatmap was generated, visually depicting the current status of people inside the vehicle. Furthermore, utilizing the collected range–azimuth heatmap of passengers, this paper integrates the Faster R-CNN deep learning networks with radar signal processing to identify passenger information. Finally, to test the performance of the detection method proposed in this article, an experimental verification was conducted in a car and the results were compared with those of traditional machine learning algorithms. Self-supervised learning is a new machine learning method that does not rely on manually labeled data, and learns from rich unlabeled data itself by designing agent tasks using the input data as supervision to obtain a more generalized representation for application in downstream tasks. However, the current self-supervised learning suffers from the problem of relying on the selection and number of negative samples and the problem of sample bias phenomenon after graph data augmentation. In this paper, we investigate the above problems and propose a corresponding solution, proposing a graph contrastive learning algorithm without negative samples. The model uses matrix sketching in the implicit space for feature augmentation to reduce sample bias and iteratively trains the mutual correlation matrix of two viewpoints by drawing closer to the distance of the constant matrix as the objective function. This method does not require techniques such as negative samples, gradient stopping, and momentum updating to prevent self-supervised model collapse. This method is compared with 10 graph representation learning algorithms on four datasets for node classification tasks, and the experimental results show that the algorithm proposed in this paper achieves good results. The level of difficulty of mathematical test items is a critical aspect for evaluating test quality and educational outcomes. Accurately predicting item difficulty during test creation is thus significantly important for producing effective test papers. This study used more than ten years of content and score data from China's Henan Provincial College Entrance Examination in Mathematics as an evaluation criterion for test difficulty, and all data were obtained from the Henan Provincial Department of Education. Based on the framework established by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) for test item assessment methodology, this paper proposes a new framework containing eight features considering the uniqueness of mathematics. Next, this paper proposes an XGBoost-based SHAP model for analyzing the difficulty of mathematics tests. By coupling the XGBoost method with the SHAP method, the model not only evaluates the difficulty of mathematics tests but also analyzes the contribution of specific features to item difficulty, thereby increasing transparency and mitigating the "black box" nature of machine learning models. The model has a high prediction accuracy of 0.99 for the training set and 0.806 for the test set. With the model, we found that parameter-level features and reasoning-level features are significant factors influencing the difficulty of subjective items in the exam. In addition, we divided senior secondary mathematics knowledge into nine units based on Chinese curriculum standards and found significant differences in the distribution of the eight features across these different knowledge units, which can help teachers place different emphasis on different units during the teaching process. In summary, our proposed approach significantly improves the accuracy of item difficulty prediction, which is crucial for intelligent educational applications such as knowledge tracking, automatic test item generation, and intelligent paper generation. Water constitutes an indispensable resource crucial for the sustenance of humanity, as it plays an integral role in various sectors such as agriculture, industrial processes, and domestic consumption. Even though water covers 71% of the global land surface, governments have been grappling with the challenge of ensuring the provision of safe water for domestic use. A contributing factor to this situation is the persistent contamination of available water sources rendering them unfit for human consumption. A common contaminant, pesticides are not frequently tested for despite their serious effects on biodiversity. Pesticide determination in water quality assessment is a challenging task because the procedures involved in the extraction and detection are complex. This reduces their popularity in many monitoring campaigns despite their harmful effects. If the existing methods of pesticide analysis are adapted by leveraging new technologies, then information concerning their presence in water ecosystems can be exposed. Furthermore, beyond the advantages conferred by the integration of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), the Internet of Things (IoT), Machine Learning (ML), and big data analytics, a notable outcome is the attainment of a heightened degree of granularity in the information of water ecosystems. This paper discusses methods of pesticide detection in water, emphasizing the possible use of electrochemical sensors, biosensors, and paper-based sensors in wireless sensing. Radio Frequency Fingerprinting (RFF) refers to the technique for identifying and classifying wireless devices on the basis of their physical characteristics, which appear in the digital signal transmitted in space. Small differences in the radio frequency front-end of the wireless devices are generated across the same wireless device model during the implementation and manufacturing process. These differences create small variations in the transmitted signal, even if the wireless device is still compliant with the wireless standard. By using data analysis and machine-learning algorithms, it is possible to classify different electronic devices on the basis of these variations. This technique has been well proven in the literature, but research is continuing to improve the classification performance, robustness to noise, and computing efficiency. Recently, Deep Learning (DL) has been applied to RFF with considerable success. In particular, the combination of time-frequency representations and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) has been particularly effective, but this comes at a great computational cost because of the size of the time-frequency representation and the computing time of CNN. This problem is particularly challenging for wireless standards, where the data to be analyzed is extensive (e.g., long preambles) as in the case of the LoRa (Long Range) wireless standard. This paper proposes a novel approach where two pre-processing steps are adopted to (1) improve the classification performance and (2) to decrease the computing time. The steps are based on the application of Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) where (in opposition to the known literature) the residual of the VMD application is used instead of the extracted modes. The concept is to remove the modes, which are common among the LoRa devices, and keep with the residuals the unique intrinsic features, which are related to the fingerprints. Then, the spectrogram is applied to the residual component. Even after this step, the computing complexity of applying CNN to the spectrogram is high. This paper proposes a novel step where only segments of the spectrogram are used as input to CNN. The segments are selected using a machine-learning approach applied to the features extracted from the spectrogram using the Local Binary Pattern (LBP). The approach is applied to a recent LoRa radio frequency fingerprinting public data set, where it is shown to significantly outperform the baseline approach based on the full use of the spectrogram of the original signal in terms of both classification performance and computing complexity. This paper considers the confrontation problem for two tank swarms of equal size and capability in a complex urban scenario. Based on the Unity platform (2022.3.20f1c1), the confrontation scenario is constructed featuring multiple crossing roads. Through the analysis of a substantial amount of biological data and wildlife videos regarding animal behavioral strategies during confrontations for hunting or food competition, two strategies are been utilized to design a novel bio-inspired intelligent swarm confrontation algorithm. The first one is the "fire concentration" strategy, which assigns a target for each tank in a way that the isolated opponent will be preferentially attacked with concentrated firepower. The second one is the "back and forth maneuver" strategy, which makes the tank tactically retreat after firing in order to avoid being hit when the shell is reloading. Two state-of-the-art swarm confrontation algorithms, namely the reinforcement learning algorithm and the assign nearest algorithm, are chosen as the opponents for the bio-inspired swarm confrontation algorithm proposed in this paper. Data of comprehensive confrontation tests show that the bio-inspired swarm confrontation algorithm has significant advantages over its opponents from the aspects of both win rate and efficiency. In South Korea, the rapid proliferation of smartphones has led to an uptick in messenger phishing attacks associated with electronic communication financial scams. In response to this, various phishing detection algorithms have been proposed. However, collecting messenger phishing data poses challenges due to concerns about its potential use in criminal activities. Consequently, a Korean phishing dataset can be composed of imbalanced data, where the number of general messages might outnumber the phishing ones. This class imbalance problem and data scarcity can lead to overfitting issues, making it difficult to achieve high performance. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a phishing messages classification method using Biased Discriminant Analysis without resorting to data augmentation techniques. In this paper, by optimizing the parameters for BDA, we achieved exceptionally high performances in the phishing messages classification experiment, with 95.45% for Recall and 96.85% for the BA metric. Moreover, when compared with other algorithms, the proposed method demonstrated robustness against overfitting due to the class imbalance problem and exhibited minimal performance disparity between training and testing datasets. Soil salinization has seriously affected agricultural production and ecological balance in the Yellow River Delta region. Rapid and accurate monitoring of soil salinity has become an urgent need. Traditional machine learning models tend to fall into local optimal values during the learning process, which reduces their accuracy. This paper introduces Circle map to enhance the crayfish optimization algorithm (COA), which is then integrated with the regularized extreme learning machine (RELM) model, aiming to improve the accuracy of soil salinity content (SSC) inversion in the Yellow River Delta region. We employed Landsat5 TM remote sensing images and measured salinity data to develop spectral indices, such as the band index, salinity index, vegetation index, and comprehensive index, selecting the optimal modeling variable group through Pearson correlation analysis and variable projection importance analysis. The back propagation neural network (BPNN), RELM, and improved crayfish optimization algorithm–regularized extreme learning machine (ICOA-RELM) models were constructed using measured data and selected variable groups for SSC inversion. The results indicate that the ICOA-RELM model enhances the R 2 value by an average of about 0.1 compared to other models, particularly those using groups of variables filtered by variable projection importance analysis as input variables, which showed the best inversion effect (test set R 2 value of 0.75, MAE of 0.198, RMSE of 0.249). The SSC inversion results indicate a higher salinization degree in the coastal regions of the Yellow River Delta and a lower degree in the inland areas, with moderate saline soil and severe saline soil comprising 48.69% of the total area. These results are consistent with the actual sampling results, which verify the practicability of the model. Satellite remote sensing plays a significant role in the detection of smoke from forest fires. However, existing methods for detecting smoke from forest fires based on remote sensing images rely solely on the information provided by the images, overlooking the positional information and brightness temperature of the fire spots in forest fires. This oversight significantly increases the probability of misjudging smoke plumes. This paper proposes a smoke detection model, Forest Smoke-Fire Net (FSF Net), which integrates wildfire smoke images with the dynamic brightness temperature information of the region. The MODIS_Smoke_FPT dataset was constructed using a Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), the meteorological information at the site of the fire, and elevation data to determine the location of smoke and the brightness temperature threshold for wildfires. Deep learning and machine learning models were trained separately using the image data and fire spot area data provided by the dataset. The performance of the deep learning model was evaluated using metric M A P , while the regression performance of machine learning was assessed with Root Mean Square Error ( R M S E ) and Mean Absolute Error ( M A E ). The selected machine learning and deep learning models were organically integrated. The results show that the Mask_RCNN_ResNet50_FPN and XGR models performed best among the deep learning and machine learning models, respectively. Combining the two models achieved good smoke detection results ( P r e c i s i o n smoke = 89.12 % ). Compared with wildfire smoke detection models that solely use image recognition, the model proposed in this paper demonstrates stronger applicability in improving the precision of smoke detection, thereby providing beneficial support for the timely detection of forest fires and applications of remote sensing. Power shift tractors have been widely used in agricultural tractors in recent years because of their advantages of uninterrupted power during shifting, high transmission efficiency and high stability. As one of the indispensable driving states of the power shift tractor, the starting process requires a small impact and a starting speed that meets the driver's requirements. In this paper, aiming at such contradictory requirements, the starting control strategy of a power shift tractor is formulated with the goal of starting quality and the driver's intention. Firstly, the identification characteristics of the driver under three starting intentions are obtained by a real vehicle test. An extreme learning machine with fast identification speed and short training time is used to establish the basic driver's intention identification model. For the instability of the identification results of the Extreme Learning Machine (ELM), the particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO) is used to optimize the ELM. The optimized extreme learning machine model has an accuracy of 96.891% for driver's intention identification. The wet clutch is an important part of the power shift gearbox. In this paper, the starting control strategy knowledge base of the starting clutch is established by a combination of bench tests and simulation tests. Through the fuzzy algorithm, the driver's intention is combined with the starting control strategy. Different drivers' intentions will affect the comprehensive evaluation model of the clutch (the single evaluation index of the clutch is: the maximum sliding power, the sliding power, the speed stability time, the impact degree), thus affecting the final choice of the starting clutch control strategy considering the driver's intention. On this basis, this paper studies and establishes the MPC starting controller for the power shift gearbox. Compared with the linear control strategy, the PSO-ELM-fuzzy weight starting strategy proposed in this paper can reduce the maximum sliding friction power by 45%, the sliding friction power by 69.45%, and the speed stabilization time by 0.11 s. A deep learning-based Visual Inertial SLAM technique is proposed in this paper to ensure accurate autonomous localization of mobile robots in environments with dynamic objects. Addressing the limitations of real-time performance in deep learning algorithms and the poor robustness of pure visual geometry algorithms, this paper presents a deep learning-based Visual Inertial SLAM technique. Firstly, a non-blocking model is designed to extract semantic information from images. Then, a motion probability hierarchy model is proposed to obtain prior motion probabilities of feature points. For image frames without semantic information, a motion probability propagation model is designed to determine the prior motion probabilities of feature points. Furthermore, considering that the output of inertial measurements is unaffected by dynamic objects, this paper integrates inertial measurement information to improve the estimation accuracy of feature point motion probabilities. An adaptive threshold-based motion probability estimation method is proposed, and finally, the positioning accuracy is enhanced by eliminating feature points with excessively high motion probabilities. To reduce safety accidents caused by distracted driving and address issues such as low recognition accuracy and deployment difficulties in current algorithms for distracted behavior detection, this paper proposes an algorithm that utilizes an improved KNN for classifying driver posture features to predict distracted driving behavior. Firstly, the number of channels in the Lightweight OpenPose network is pruned to predict and output the coordinates of key points in the upper body of the driver. Secondly, based on the principles of ergonomics, driving behavior features are modeled, and a set of five-dimensional feature values are obtained through geometric calculations. Finally, considering the relationship between the distance between samples and the number of samples, this paper proposes an adjustable distance-weighted KNN algorithm (ADW-KNN), which is used for classification and prediction. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm achieved a recognition rate of 94.04% for distracted driving behavior on the public dataset SFD3, with a speed of up to 50FPS, superior to mainstream deep learning algorithms in terms of accuracy and speed. With the development of smart grids and new power systems, the combination of non-intrusive load identification technology and smart home technology can provide users with the operating conditions of home appliances and equipment, thus reducing home energy loss and improving users' ability to demand a response. This paper proposes a non-intrusive load decomposition model with a parallel multiscale attention mechanism (PMAM). The model can extract both local and global feature information and fuse it through a parallel multiscale network. This improves the attention mechanism's ability to capture feature information over long time periods. To validate the model's decomposition ability, we combined the PMAM model with four benchmark models: the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) recurrent neural network model, the Time Pooling-based Load Disaggregation Model (TPNILM), the Extreme Learning Machine (ELM), and the Load Disaggregation Model without Parallel Multi-scalar Attention Mechanisms (UNPMAM). The model was trained on the publicly available UK-DALE dataset and tested. The models' test results were quantitatively evaluated using a confusion matrix. This involved calculating the F1 score of the load decomposition. A higher F1 score indicates better model decomposition performance. The results indicate that the PMAM model proposed in this paper maintains an F1 score above 0.9 for the decomposition of three types of electrical equipment under the same household user, which is 3% higher than that of the other benchmark models on average. In the cross-household test, the PMAM also demonstrated a better decomposition ability, with the F1 score maintained above 0.85, and the mean absolute error (MAE) decreased by 5.3% on average compared with that of the UNPMAM. In this paper, a CatBoost model for predicting superelastic strains of alloys was established by utilizing features construction and selection as well as model filtering and evaluation based on 125 existing data points of superelastic titanium alloys. The alloy compositions of a TiNbMoZrSnTa system were optimized and three nickel-free titanium alloys with potentially excellent superelastic properties were designed using the Bayesian optimization algorithm using a superelastic strain as the optimization target. The experimental results indicated that only Ti-12Nb-18Zr-2Sn and Ti-12Nb-16Zr-3Sn exhibited clear superelasticity due to the absence of relevant information about the alloys' β stability in the machine learning model. Through experimental optimization of the heat treatment regimens, Ti-12Nb-18Zr-2Sn and Ti-12Nb-16Zr-3Sn ultimately achieved recovery strains of 4.65% after being heat treated at 853 K for 10 min and 3.01% after being heat treated at 1073 K for 30 min, respectively. The CatBoost model in this paper possessed a certain ability to design nickel-free superelastic titanium alloys but it was still necessary to combine it with existing knowledge of material theory for effective utilization. In this paper, the use of artificial neural networks (ANNs) is proposed to approximate the option price sensitivities of Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) Top 40 European call options in a classical and a modern multi-curve framework. The ANNs were trained on artificially generated option price data given the illiquid nature of the South African market, and the out-of-sample performance of the optimized ANNs was evaluated using an implied volatility surface constructed from published volatility skews. The results from this paper show that ANNs trained on artificially generated input data are able to accurately approximate the explicit solutions to the respective option price sensitivities of both a classical and a modern multi-curve framework in a real-world out-of-sample application to the South African market. With the exponential growth of data, extracting actionable insights becomes resource-intensive. In many organizations, normalized relational databases store a significant portion of this data, where tables are interconnected through some relations. This paper explores relational learning, which involves joining and merging database tables, often normalized in the third normal form. The subsequent processing includes extracting features and utilizing them in machine learning (ML) models. In this paper, we experiment with the propositionalization algorithm (i.e., Wordification) for feature engineering. Next, we compare the algorithms PropDRM and PropStar, which are designed explicitly for multi-relational data mining, to traditional machine learning algorithms. Based on the performed experiments, we concluded that Gradient Boost, compared to PropDRM, achieves similar performance (F1 score, accuracy, and AUC) on multiple datasets. PropStar consistently underperformed on some datasets while being comparable to the other algorithms on others. In summary, the propositionalization algorithm for feature extraction makes it feasible to apply traditional ML algorithms for relational learning directly. In contrast, approaches tailored specifically for relational learning still face challenges in scalability, interpretability, and efficiency. These findings have a practical impact that can help speed up the adoption of machine learning in business contexts where data is stored in relational format without requiring domain-specific feature extraction. In this paper, we explore the realm of federated learning (FL), a distributed machine learning (ML) paradigm, and propose a novel approach that leverages the robustness of blockchain technology. FL, a concept introduced by Google in 2016, allows multiple entities to collaboratively train an ML model without the need to expose their raw data. However, it faces several challenges, such as privacy concerns and malicious attacks (e.g., data poisoning attacks). Our paper examines the existing EIFFeL framework, a protocol for decentralized real-time messaging in continuous integration and delivery pipelines, and introduces an enhanced scheme that leverages the trustworthy nature of blockchain technology. The digitization of distribution power systems has revolutionized the way data are collected and analyzed. In this paper, the critical task of harnessing this information to identify irregularities and anomalies in electricity consumption is tackled. The focus is on detecting non-technical losses (NTLs) and energy theft within distribution networks. A comprehensive overview of the methodologies employed to uncover NTLs and energy theft is presented, leveraging measurements of electricity consumption. The most common scenarios and prevalent cases of anomalies and theft among consumers are identified. Additionally, statistical indicators tailored to specific anomalies are proposed. In this research paper, the practical implementation of numerous artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, including the artificial neural network (ANN), ANFIS, autoencoder neural network, and K-mean clustering, is highlighted. These algorithms play a central role in our research, and our primary objective is to showcase their effectiveness in identifying NTLs. Real-world data sourced directly from distribution networks are utilized. Additionally, we carefully assess how well statistical methods work and compare them to AI techniques by testing them with real data. The artificial neural network (ANN) accurately identifies various consumer types, exhibiting a frequency error of 7.62%. In contrast, the K-means algorithm shows a slightly higher frequency error of 9.26%, while the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) fails to detect the initial anomaly type, resulting in a frequency error of 11.11%. Our research suggests that AI can make finding irregularities in electricity consumption even more effective. Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are increasingly being applied to the shipping industry to advance its development. In this study, 476 articles published in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED) and the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) of the Web of Science Core Collection from 2001 to 2022 were collected, and bibliometric methods were applied to conduct a systematic literature of the field of AI technology applications in the shipping industry. The review commences with an annual publication trend analysis, which shows that research in the field has been growing rapidly in recent years. This is followed by a statistical analysis of journals and a collaborative network analysis to identify the most productive journals, countries, institutions, and authors. The keyword "co-occurrence analysis" is then utilized to identify major research clusters, as well as hot research directions in the field, providing directions for future research in the field. Finally, based on the results of the keyword co-occurrence analysis and the content analysis of the papers published in recent years, the research gaps in AIS data applications, ship trajectory, and anomaly detection, as well as the possible future research directions, are discussed. The findings indicate that AIS data in the future research direction are mainly reflected in the analysis of ship behavior and AIS data repair. Ship trajectory in the future research direction is mainly reflected in the deep learning-based method research and the discussion of ship trajectory classification. Anomaly detection in the future research direction is mainly reflected in the application of deep learning technology in ship anomaly detection and improving the efficiency of ship anomaly detection. The high cost of manual weed control and the overuse of herbicides restrict the yield and quality of soybean. Intelligent mechanical weeding and precise application of pesticides can be used as effective alternatives for weed control in the field, and these require accurate distinction between crops and weeds. In this paper, images of soybean seedlings and weeds in different growth areas are used as datasets. In the aspect of soybean recognition, this paper designs a YOLOv8nGP algorithm with a backbone network optimisation based on GhostNet and an unconstrained pruning method with a 60% pruning rate. Compared with the original YOLOv8n, the YOLOv8nGP improves the Precision (P), Recall (R), and F1 metrics by 1.1% each, reduces the model size by 3.6 mb, and the inference time was 2.2 ms, which could meet the real-time requirements of field operations. In terms of weed recognition, this study utilises an image segmentation method based on the Normalized Excess Green Index (NExG). After filtering the soybean seedlings, the green parts of the image are extracted for weed recognition, which reduces the dependence on the diversity of the weed datasets. This paper presents a visual compass method utilizing global features, specifically spherical moments. One of the primary challenges faced by photometric methods employing global features is the variation in the image caused by the appearance and disappearance of regions within the camera's field of view as it moves. Additionally, modeling the impact of translational motion on the values of global features poses a significant challenge, as it is dependent on scene depths, particularly for non-planar scenes. To address these issues, this paper combines the utilization of image masks to mitigate abrupt changes in global feature values and the application of neural networks to tackle the modeling challenge posed by translational motion. By employing masks at various locations within the image, multiple estimations of rotation corresponding to the motion of each selected region can be obtained. Our contribution lies in offering a rapid method for implementing numerous masks on the image with real-time inference speed, rendering it suitable for embedded robot applications. Extensive experiments have been conducted on both real-world and synthetic datasets generated using Blender. Defect pattern analysis of wafer bin maps (WBMs) is an important means of identifying process problems. Recently, automated analysis methods using machine learning or deep learning have been studied as alternatives to manual classification by engineers. In this paper, we propose a method to improve the feature extraction performance of defect patterns by transforming the polar coordinate system instead of the existing WBM image input. To reduce the variability of the location representation, defect patterns in the Cartesian coordinate system, where the location of the distributed defect die is not constant, were converted to a polar coordinate system. The CNN classifier, which uses polar coordinate transformed input, achieved a classification accuracy of 91.3%, which is 4.8% better than the existing WBM image-based CNN classifier. Additionally, a tree-structured classifier model that sequentially connects binary classifiers achieved a classification accuracy of 94%. The method proposed in this paper is also applicable to the defect pattern classification of WBMs consisting of different die sizes than the training data. Finally, the paper proposes an automated pattern classification method that uses individual classifiers to learn defect types and then applies ensemble techniques for multiple defect pattern classification. Mental workload is an important predisposing factor for mental illnesses such as depression and is closely related to individual mental health. However, the suboptimal accuracy of utilizing photoplethysmography (PPG) exclusively for mental workload classification has constrained its application within pertinent professional domains. To this end, this paper proposes a signal processing method that combines continuous wavelet transform (CWT) and cardiopulmonary coupling mapping (CPC) to classify mental load via a convolutional neural network (ResAttNet). The method reflects changes in mental workload, as assessed by changes in the association between heart rate variability and respiration. In this paper, the strengths and weaknesses of this method are compared with other traditional psychological workload monitoring methods, such as heart rate variability (HRV), and its validation is performed on the publicly available dataset MAUS. The experiments show that the method is significantly better than previous machine learning methods based on heart rate variability correlation. Meanwhile, the accuracy of the method proposed in this paper reaches 80.5%, which is 6.2% higher than in previous studies. It is comparable to the result of 82.4% for the ECG-based mental workload monitoring system. In the research field of small object detection, most object detectors have been successfully used for pedestrian detection, face recognition, lost and found, and automatic driving, among other applications, and have achieved good results. However, when general object detectors encounter challenging low-resolution images from the TinyPerson dataset, they will produce undesirable detection results because of the dense occlusion between people and different body poses. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposes a tiny object detection method TOD-YOLOv7 based on YOLOv7.First, this paper presents a reconstruction of the YOLOv7 network by adding a tiny object detection layer to enhance its detection ability. Then, we use the recursive gated convolution module to realize the interaction with the higher-order space to accelerate the model initialization process and reduce the reasoning time. Secondly, this paper proposes the integration of a coordinate attention mechanism into the YOLOv7 feature extraction network to strengthen the pedestrian object information and weaken the background information.Additionally, we leverage data augmentation techniques to improve the representation learning of the algorithm. The results show that compared with the baseline model YOLOv7, the detection accuracy of this model on the TinyPerson dataset is improved from 7.1% to 9.5%, and the detection speed reaches 208 frames per second (FPS). Academic societies and funding bodies that conduct peer reviews need to select the best reviewers in each field to ensure publication quality. Conventional approaches for reviewer selection focus on evaluating expertise based on research relevance by subject or discipline. An improved perceiving conflict of interest (CoI) reviewer recommendation process that combines the five expertise indices and graph analysis techniques is proposed in this paper. This approach collects metadata from the academic database and extracts candidates based on research field similarities utilizing text mining; then, the candidate scores are calculated and ranked through a professionalism index-based analysis. The highly connected subgraphs (HCS) algorithm is used to cluster similar researchers based on their association or intimacy in the researcher network. The proposed method is evaluated using root mean square error (RMSE) indicators for matching the field of publication and research fields of the recommended experts using keywords of papers published in Korean journals over the past five years. The results show that the system configures a group of Top-K reviewers with an RMSE 0.76. In recent years, Federated Learning has attracted much attention because it solves the problem of data silos in machine learning to a certain extent. However, many studies have shown that attacks based on Generative Adversarial Networks pose a great threat to Federated Learning. This paper proposes Defense-GAN, a defense method against Generative Adversarial Network attacks under Federated Learning. Under this method, the attacker cannot learn the real image data distribution. Each Federated Learning participant uses SHAP to explain the model and masks the pixel features that have a greater impact on classification and recognition in their respective image data. The experimental results show that while attacking the federated training model using masked images, the attacker cannot always obtain the ground truth of the images. At the same time, this paper also uses CutMix to improve the generalization ability of the model, and the obtained model accuracy is only 1% different from that of the model trained with the original data. The results show that the defense method proposed in this paper can not only resist Generative Adversarial Network attacks in Federated Learning and protect client privacy, but also ensure that the model accuracy of the Federated model will not be greatly affected. Deep learning pervades heavy data-driven disciplines in research and development. The Internet of Things and sensor systems, which enable smart environments and services, are settings where deep learning can provide invaluable utility. However, the data in these systems are very often directly or indirectly related to people, which raises privacy concerns. Federated learning (FL) mitigates some of these concerns and empowers deep learning in sensor-driven environments by enabling multiple entities to collaboratively train a machine learning model without sharing their data. Nevertheless, a number of works in the literature propose attacks that can manipulate the model and disclose information about the training data in FL. As a result, there has been a growing belief that FL is highly vulnerable to severe attacks. Although these attacks do indeed highlight security and privacy risks in FL, some of them may not be as effective in production deployment because they are feasible only given special—sometimes impractical—assumptions. In this paper, we investigate this issue by conducting a quantitative analysis of the attacks against FL and their evaluation settings in 48 papers. This analysis is the first of its kind to reveal several research gaps with regard to the types and architectures of target models. Additionally, the quantitative analysis allows us to highlight unrealistic assumptions in some attacks related to the hyper-parameters of the model and data distribution. Furthermore, we identify fallacies in the evaluation of attacks which raise questions about the generalizability of the conclusions.
