The rapid development of renewable energy presents challenges to the security and stability of power systems. Aiming at addressing the power system scheduling problem with load demand and wind power uncertainty, this paper proposes the establishment of different error fuzzy sets based on the Wasserstein probability distance to describe the uncertainties of load and wind power separately. Based on these Wasserstein fuzzy sets, a distributed robust chance-constrained scheduling model was established. In addition, the scheduling model was transformed into a linear programming problem through affine transformation and CVaR approximation. The simplex method and an improved differential evolution algorithm were used to solve the model. Finally, the model and algorithm proposed in this paper were applied to model and solve the economic scheduling problem for the IEEE 6-node system with a wind farm. With the development of smart agriculture, autopilot technology is being used more and more widely in agriculture. Because most of the current global path planning only considers the shortest path, it is difficult to meet the articulated steering tractor operation needs in the orchard environment and address other issues, so this paper proposes a hybrid algorithm of an improved bidirectional search A* algorithm and improved differential evolution genetic algorithm(AGADE). First, the integrated priority function and search method of the traditional A* algorithm are improved by adding weight influence to the integrated priority, and the search method is changed to a bidirectional search. Second, the genetic algorithm fitness function and search strategy are improved; the fitness function is set as the path tree row center offset factor; the smoothing factor and safety coefficient are set; and the search strategy adopts differential evolution for cross mutation. Finally, the shortest path obtained by the improved bidirectional search A* algorithm is used as the initial population of an improved differential evolution genetic algorithm, optimized iteratively, and the optimal path is obtained by adding kinematic constraints through a cubic B-spline curve smoothing path. The convergence of the AGADE hybrid algorithm and GA algorithm on four different maps, path length, and trajectory curve are compared and analyzed through simulation tests. The convergence speed of the AGADE hybrid algorithm on four different complexity maps is improved by 92.8%, 64.5%, 50.0%, and 71.2% respectively. The path length is slightly increased compared with the GA algorithm, but the path trajectory curve is located in the center of the tree row, with fewer turns, and it meets the articulated steering tractor operation needs in the orchard environment, proving that the improved hybrid algorithm is effective. In order to realize the accurate and reliable prediction of the change trend of dissolved oxygen (DO) content in California perch aquaculture water, this paper proposes a second-order hybrid optimization support vector machine (SVR) model based on Differential Evolution (DE) and Gray Wolf Optimizer (GWO), shortened to DE-GWO-SVR, to predict the DO content with the characteristics of nonlinear and non-smooth water quality data. Experimentally, data for the water quality, including pH, water temperature, conductivity, salinity, total dissolved solids, and DO, were collected. Pearson's correlation coefficient (PPMCC) was applied to explore the correlation between each water quality parameter and DO content. The optimal DE-GWO-SVR model was established and compared with models based on SVR, back-propagation neural network (BPNN), and their optimization models. The results show that the DE-GWO-SVR model proposed in this paper can effectively realize the nonlinear prediction and global optimization performance. Its R2, MSE, MAE and RMSE can be up to 0.94, 0.108, 0.2629, and 0.3293, respectively, which is better than those of other models. This research provides guidance for the efficient prediction of DO in perch aquaculture water bodies for increasing the aquaculture effectiveness and reducing the aquaculture risk, providing a new exploratory path for water quality monitoring. The development of offshore oil fields confronts challenges associated with high water cut and low displacement efficiency. Reservoir injection-production optimization stands out as an effective means to reduce costs and enhance efficiency in offshore oilfield development. The process of optimizing injection and production in offshore oil reservoirs involves designing strategies for a large number of wells and optimization time steps, constituting a large-scale, complex, and costly optimization computation problem. In recent years, with the rapid advancements in big data and artificial intelligence technologies, sophisticated evolutionary computation methods have found widespread application in reservoir injection-production optimization problems. However, the abundance of intelligent optimization algorithms raises the question of how to choose a method suitable for the complex optimization background of offshore oilfield injection-production optimization. This paper provides a detailed overview of the application of an existing differential evolution algorithm (DE), conventional surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithm (CSAEA), and global–local surrogate-assisted differential evolution (GLSADE) in the context of practical offshore oilfield injection-production optimization problems. A comprehensive comparison of their performance differences is presented. The study concludes that the global–local surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithm is the most suitable method for addressing the current challenges in offshore oilfield injection-production optimization. In order to fulfill the practical application demands of precisely localizing underwater vehicles using passive electric field localization technology, we propose a scalar-potential-based method for the passive electric field localization of underwater vehicles. This method is grounded on an intelligent differential evolution algorithm and is particularly suited for use in three-layer and stratified oceanic environments. Firstly, based on the potential distribution law of constant current elements in a three-layer parallel stratified ocean environment, the mathematical positioning model is established using the mirror method. Secondly, the differential evolution (DE) algorithm is enhanced with a parameter-adaptive strategy and a boundary mutation processing mechanism to optimize the key objective function in the positioning problem. Additionally, the simulation experiments of the current element in the layered model prove the effectiveness of the proposed positioning method and show that it has no special requirements for the sensor measurement array, but the large range and moderate number of sensors are beneficial to improve the positioning effect. Finally, the laboratory experiments on the positioning method proposed in this paper, involving underwater simulated current elements and underwater vehicle tracks, were carried out successfully. The results indicate that the positioning method proposed in this paper can achieve the performance requirements of independent initial value, strong anti-noise capabilities, rapid positioning speed, easy implementation, and suitability in shallow sea environments. Recent research has revealed that subtle imperceptible perturbations can deceive well-trained neural network models, leading to inaccurate outcomes. These instances, known as adversarial examples, pose significant threats to the secure application of machine learning techniques in safety-critical systems. In this paper, we delve into the study of one-pixel attacks in deep neural networks, recently reported as a kind of adversarial examples. To identify such one-pixel attacks, most existing methodologies rely on the differential evolution method, which utilizes random selection from the current population to escape local optima. However, the differential evolution technique might waste search time and overlook good solutions if the number of iterations is insufficient. Hence, in this paper, we propose a gradient ascent with momentum approach to efficiently discover good solutions for the one-pixel attack problem. As our method takes a more direct route to the goal compared to existing methods relying on blind random walks, it can effectively identify one-pixel attacks. Our experiments conducted on popular CNNs demonstrate that, in comparison with existing methodologies, our technique can detect one-pixel attacks significantly faster. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Regional Integrated Energy Systems (RIESs) and Shared Energy Storage Systems (SESSs) have significant advantages in improving energy utilization efficiency. However, establishing a coordinated optimization strategy between RIESs and SESSs is an urgent problem to be solved. This paper constructs an operational framework for RIESs considering the participation of SESSs. It analyzes the game relationships between various entities based on the dual role of energy storage stations as both energy consumers and suppliers, and it establishes optimization models for each stakeholder. Finally, the improved Differential Evolution Algorithm (JADE) combined with the Gurobi solver is employed on the MATLAB 2021a platform to solve the cases, verifying that the proposed strategy can enhance the investment willingness of energy storage developers, balance the interests among the Integrated Energy Operator (IEO), Energy Storage Operator (ESO) and the user, and improve the overall economic efficiency of RIESs. The optimization and allocation of transport cost savings among stakeholders are two important issues that influence the satisfaction of information providers, drivers and passengers in ridesharing recommendation systems. For optimization issues, finding optimal solutions for nonconvex constrained discrete ridesharing optimization problems poses a challenge due to computational complexity. For the allocation of transport cost savings issues, the development of an effective method to allocate cost savings in ridesharing recommendation systems is an urgent need to improve the acceptability of ridesharing. The hybridization of different metaheuristic approaches has demonstrated its advantages in tackling the complexity of optimization problems. The principle of the hybridization of metaheuristic approaches is similar to a marriage of two people with the goal of having a happy ending. However, the effectiveness of hybrid metaheuristic algorithms is unknown a priori and depends on the problem to be solved. This is similar to a situation where no one knows whether a marriage will have a happy ending a priori. Whether the hybridization of the Firefly Algorithm (FA) with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) or Differential Evolution (DE) can work effectively in solving ridesharing optimization problems needs further study. Motivated by deficiencies in existing studies, this paper focuses on the effectiveness of hybrid metaheuristic algorithms for solving ridesharing problems based on the hybridization of FA with PSO or the hybridization of FA with DE. Another focus of this paper is to propose and study the effectiveness of a new method to allocate ridesharing cost savings to the stakeholders in ridesharing systems. The developed hybrid metaheuristic algorithms and the allocation method have been compared with examples of several application scenarios to illustrate their effectiveness. The results indicate that hybridizing FA with PSO creates a more efficient algorithm, whereas hybridizing FA with DE does not lead to a more efficient algorithm for the ridesharing recommendation problem. The dual-population differential evolution (DDE) algorithm is an optimization technique that simultaneously maintains two populations to balance global and local search. It has been demonstrated to outperform single-population differential evolution algorithms. However, existing improvements to dual-population differential evolution algorithms often overlook the importance of selecting appropriate mutation and selection operators to enhance algorithm performance. In this paper, we propose a dual-population differential evolution (DPDE) algorithm based on a hierarchical mutation and selection strategy. We divided the population into elite and normal subpopulations based on fitness values. Information exchange between the two subpopulations was facilitated through a hierarchical mutation strategy, promoting a balanced exploration–exploitation trade-off in the algorithm. Additionally, this paper presents a new hierarchical selection strategy aimed at improving the population's capacity to avoid local optima. It achieves this by accepting discarded trial vectors differently compared to previous methods. We expect that the newly introduced hierarchical selection and mutation strategies will work in synergy, effectively harnessing their potential to enhance the algorithm's performance. Extensive experiments were conducted on the CEC 2017 and CEC 2011 test sets. Formulations of structural optimization problems are proposed in this paper to automatically find the best grouping of columns in 3D steel buildings. In these formulations, the conflicting objective functions, minimized simultaneously, are the weight of the structure and the number of different groups of columns. In other words, the smaller the number of different groups of columns, the greater the weight of the structure, and the greater the number of groups, the smaller the structure's weight. The design variables are the bracing system configuration, column cross-section orientation, and assigned W-shaped profile indices for columns, beams, and braces. The design constraints are the allowable displacements, strength, and geometric considerations. After solving the multi-objective optimization problem, the result is a Pareto front, presenting non-dominated solutions. Three evolutionary algorithms based on differential evolution are adopted in this paper to solve three computational experiments. Even if preliminary groupings of columns are adopted, considering architectural aspects such as the symmetry of the structure, it is possible to discover other interesting structural configurations that will be available to the decision maker, who will be able to make their choices based on the impacts on manufacturing, cutting, transporting, checking and welding. The problem of optimisation methods is the stagnation of population P, which results in a local solution for the task. This problem can be solved by employing an archive for good historical solutions outperformed by the new better offspring. The archive A was introduced with the variant of adaptive differential evolution (DE), and it was successfully applied in many adaptive DE variants including the efficient jSO algorithm. In the original jSO, the historical good individuals replace the random existing positions in A. It causes that outperformed historical solution from P with lower quality to replace the stored solution in A with better quality. In this paper, a new approach to replace individuals in archive A more progressively is proposed. Outperformed individuals from P replace solutions in the worse part of A based on the function value. The portion of A selected for replacement is controlled by the input parameter, and its setting is studied in this experiment. The proposed progressive archive is employed in the original jSO. Moreover, the Eigenvector transformation of the individuals for crossover is applied to increase the efficiency for the rotated optimisation problems. The efficiency of the proposed progressive archive and the Eigen crossover are evaluated using the set of 29 optimisation problems for CEC 2024 and various dimensionality. All the experiments were performed on a standard PC, and the results were compared using the standard statistical methods. The newly proposed algorithm with the progressive archive approach performs substantially better than the original jSO, especially when 20 or 40 % of the worse individuals of A are set for replacement. The Eigen crossover increases the performance of the proposed jSO algorithm with the progressive archive approach. Semantic segmentation is an essential process in computer vision that allows users to differentiate objects of interest from the background of an image by assigning labels to the image pixels. While Convolutional Neural Networks have been widely used to solve the image segmentation problem, simpler approaches have recently been explored, especially in fields where explainability is essential, such as medicine. A Convolutional Decision Tree (CDT) is a machine learning model for image segmentation. Its graphical structure and simplicity make it easy to interpret, as it clearly shows how pixels in an image are classified in an image segmentation task. This paper proposes new approaches for inducing a CDT to solve the image segmentation problem using SHADE. This adaptive differential evolution algorithm uses a historical memory of successful parameters to guide the optimization process. Experiments were performed using the Weizmann Horse dataset and Blood detection in dark-field microscopy images to compare the proposals in this article with previous results obtained through the traditional differential evolution process. Differential evolution algorithm is a very powerful and recently proposed evolutionary algorithm. Generally, only a mutation operator and predefined parameter values of differential evolution algorithm are utilized to solve various optimization problems, which limits the performance of the algorithm. In this paper, six commonly used mutation operators are divided into three categories according to their own features. A mutation pool is established based on the three categories. A parameter pool with three predefined values is designed. During evolution, three mutation operators are randomly chosen from the three categories, and three parameter values are also randomly selected from the parameter pool. The three groups of mutation operators and parameter values are employed to produce trial vectors. The proposed algorithm makes good use of different mutation operators. Three recently proposed differential evolution variants and three non-differential evolution algorithms are used to make comparisons on the 29 testing functions from CEC. The experimental results have demonstrated that the proposed algorithm is very competitive. The proposed algorithm is utilized to solve three real applications, and the results are superior. Container technology has gained a widespread application in cloud computing environments due to its low resource overhead and high flexibility. However, as the number of containers grows, it becomes increasingly challenging to achieve the rapid and coordinated optimization of multiple objectives for container scheduling, while maintaining system stability and security. This paper aims to overcome these challenges and provides the optimal allocation for a large number of containers. First, a large-scale multi-objective container scheduling optimization model is constructed, which involves the task completion time, resource cost, and load balancing. Second, a novel optimization algorithm called LSMOF-AD (large-scale multi-objective optimization framework with muti-stage and adaptive differential strategies) is proposed to effectively handle large-scale container scheduling problems. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has a better performance in multiple benchmark problems compared to other advanced algorithms and can effectively reduce the task processing delay, while achieving a high resource utilization and load balancing compared to other scheduling strategies. In recent years, remotely controlling an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to perform coverage search missions has become increasingly popular due to the advantages of the UAV, such as small size, high maneuverability, and low cost. However, due to the distance limitations of the remote control and endurance of a UAV, a single UAV cannot effectively perform a search mission in various and complex regions. Thus, using a group of UAVs to deal with coverage search missions has become a research hotspot in the last decade. In this paper, a differential evolution (DE)-based multi-UAV cooperative coverage algorithm is proposed to deal with the coverage tasks in different regions. In the proposed algorithm, named DECSMU, the entire coverage process is divided into many coverage stages. Before each coverage stage, every UAV automatically plans its flight path based on DE. To obtain a promising flight trajectory for a UAV, a dynamic reward function is designed to evaluate the quality of the planned path in terms of the coverage rate and the energy consumption of the UAV. In each coverage stage, an information interaction between different UAVs is carried out through a communication network, and a distributed model predictive control is used to realize the collaborative coverage of multiple UAVs. The experimental results show that the strategy can achieve high coverage and a low energy consumption index under the constraints of collision avoidance. Network protocol implementations, as integral components of information communication, are critically important for security. Due to its efficiency and automation, fuzzing has become a popular method for protocol security detection. However, the existing protocol-fuzzing techniques face the critical problem of generating high-quality inputs. To address the problem, in this paper, we propose MSFuzz, which is a protocol-fuzzing method with message syntax comprehension. The core observation of MSFuzz is that the source code of protocol implementations contains detailed and comprehensive knowledge of the message syntax. Specifically, we leveraged the code-understanding capabilities of large language models to extract the message syntax from the source code and construct message syntax trees. Then, using these syntax trees, we expanded the initial seed corpus and designed a novel syntax-aware mutation strategy to guide the fuzzing. To evaluate the performance of MSFuzz, we compared it with the state-of-the-art (SOTA) protocol fuzzers, namely, AFLNET and CHATAFL. Experimental results showed that compared with AFLNET and CHATAFL, MSFuzz achieved average improvements of 22.53% and 10.04% in the number of states, 60.62% and 19.52% improvements in the number of state transitions, and 29.30% and 23.13% improvements in branch coverage. The quality of hydrological data has a significant impact on hydrological models, where stable and anomaly-free hydrological time series typically yield more valuable patterns. In this paper, we conduct data analysis and propose an online hydrological data quality control method based on an adaptive differential evolution algorithm according to the characteristics of hydrological data. Taking into account the characteristics of continuity, periodicity, and seasonality, we develop a Periodic Temporal Long Short-Term Memory (PT-LSTM) predictive control model. Building upon the real-time nature of the data, we apply the Adaptive Differential Evolution algorithm to optimize PT-LSTM, creating an Online Composite Predictive Control Model (OCPT-LSTM) that provides confidence intervals and recommended values for control and replacement. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed data quality control method effectively manages data quality; detects data anomalies; provides suggested values; reduces reliance on manual intervention; provides a solid data foundation for hydrological data analysis work; and helps hydrological personnel in water resource scheduling, flood control, and other related tasks. Operational amplifiers (Op-Amps) are critical to sensor systems because they enable precise, reliable, and flexible signal processing. Current automated Op-Amp generation methods suffer from extremely low efficiency because the time-consuming SPICE-in-the-loop sizing is normally involved as its inner loop. In this paper, we propose an efficiently automated Op-Amp generation tool using a hybrid sizing method, which combines the merits together from a deterministic optimization algorithm and differential evolution algorithm. Thus, it can not only quickly find a decent local optimum, but also eventually converge to a global optimum. This feature is well fit to be serving as an acute filter in the circuit structure evaluation flow to efficiently eliminate any undesirable circuit structures in advance of detailed sizing. Our experimental results demonstrate its superiority over traditional sizing approaches and show its efficacy in highly boosting the efficiency of automated Op-Amp structure generation. The prospect of the energy transition is exciting and sure to benefit multiple aspects of daily life. However, various challenges, such as planning, business models, and energy access are still being tackled. Energy Communities have been gaining traction in the energy transition, as they promote increased integration of Renewable Energy Sources (RESs) and more active participation from the consumers. However, optimization becomes crucial to support decision making and the quality of service for the effective functioning of Energy Communities. Optimization in the context of Energy Communities has been explored in the literature, with increasing attention to metaheuristic approaches. This paper contributes to the ongoing body of work by presenting the results of a benchmark between three classical metaheuristic methods—Differential Evolution (DE), the Genetic Algorithm (GA), and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO)—and three more recent approaches—the Mountain Gazelle Optimizer (MGO), the Dandelion Optimizer (DO), and the Hybrid Adaptive Differential Evolution with Decay Function (HyDE-DF). Our results show that newer methods, especially the Dandelion Optimizer (DO) and the Hybrid Adaptive Differential Evolution with Decay Function (HyDE-DF), tend to be more competitive in terms of minimizing the objective function. In particular, the Hybrid Adaptive Differential Evolution with Decay Function (HyDE-DF) demonstrated the capacity to obtain extremely competitive results, being on average 3% better than the second-best method while boasting between around 2× and 10× the speed of other methods. Accurate and reliable mathematical modeling is essential for the optimal control and performance analysis of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) systems, which are mainly implemented based on accurate parameter estimation. In this paper, a multi-strategy tuna swarm optimization (MS-TSO) is proposed to estimate the parameters of PEMFC voltage models and compare them with other optimizers such as differential evolution, the whale optimization approach, the salp swarm algorithm, particle swarm optimization, Harris hawk optimization and the slime mould algorithm. In the optimizing routine, the unidentified factors of the PEMFCs are used as the decision variables, which are optimized to minimize the sum of square errors between the estimated and measured data. The optimizers are examined based on three PEMFC datasets including BCS500W, NedStackPS6 and harizon500W as well as a set of experimental data which are measured using the Greenlight G20 platform with a 25 cm2 single cell at 353 K. It is confirmed that MS-TSO gives better performance in terms of convergence speed and accuracy than the competing algorithms. Furthermore, the results achieved by MS-TSO are compared with other reported approaches in the literature. Accurate prediction of energy consumption in district heating systems plays an important role in supporting effective and clean energy production and distribution in dense urban areas. Predictive models are needed for flexible and cost-effective operation of energy production and usage, e.g., using peak shaving or load shifting to compensate for heat losses in the pipeline. This helps to avoid exceedance of power plant capacity. The purpose of this study is to automate the process of building machine learning (ML) models to solve a short-term power demand prediction problem. The dataset contains a district heating network's measured hourly power consumption and ambient temperature for 415 days. In this paper, we propose a hybrid evolutionary-based algorithm, named GA-SHADE, for the simultaneous optimization of ML models and feature selection. The GA-SHADE algorithm is a hybrid algorithm consisting of a Genetic Algorithm (GA) and success-history-based parameter adaptation for differential evolution (SHADE). The results of the numerical experiments show that the proposed GA-SHADE algorithm allows the identification of simplified ML models with good prediction performance in terms of the optimized feature subset and model hyperparameters. The main contributions of the study are (1) using the proposed GA-SHADE, ML models with varying numbers of features and performance are obtained. (2) The proposed GA-SHADE algorithm self-adapts during operation and has only one control parameter. There is no fine-tuning required before execution. (3) Due to the evolutionary nature of the algorithm, it is not sensitive to the number of features and hyperparameters to be optimized in ML models. In conclusion, this study confirms that each optimized ML model uses a unique set and number of features. Out of the six ML models considered, SVR and NN are better candidates and have demonstrated the best performance across several metrics. This paper addresses the parameter identification of a one-link flexible manipulator based on the experimental measurement of the inputs/outputs, the finite element model, and the application of evolutionary algorithms. A novel approach is proposed to find the values of inertia, stiffness, and damping parameters by minimizing the difference between the numerical model's outputs and the testbed's outputs, thus considering the joint position and acceleration of the link's tip. The dynamic model is initially obtained using the finite element method and the Lagrange principle. A prototype of a single one-link flexible manipulator is used in the experimental application, wherein the servomotor applies the input torque, and the outputs are the joint angle and the link's tip acceleration. Then, an optimization problem minimizes the difference between the numerical and experimental outputs to determine the set of parameters using evolutionary algorithms. A comparative analysis to obtain the identified parameters is established using genetic algorithms, particle swarm optimization, and differential evolution. The proposed identification approach permitted the determination of the dynamic parameters based on the complete dynamic model of the flexible-link manipulator, which is different from the approaches reported in the literature that identify a simplified model. Complete Coverage Path Planning (CCPP) is a key technology for Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) that require complete coverage on the water surface, such as water sample collection, garbage collection, water field patrol, etc. When facing complex and irregular boundaries, the traditional CCPP-based boustrophedon method may encounter many problems and challenges, such as multiple repeated regions, multiple turns, and the easy occurrence of local optima. The traditional genetic algorithm also has some shortcomings. The fixed fitness function, mutation operator and crossover operator are not conducive to the evolution of the population and the production of better offspring. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a CCPP method based on an improved genetic algorithm, including a stretched fitness function, an adaptive mutation operator, and a crossover operator. The algorithm combines the key operators in the fireworks algorithm. Then, the turning and obstacle avoidance during the operation of the Unmanned Surface Vehicle are optimized. Simulation and experiments show that the improved genetic algorithm has higher performance than the exact unit decomposition method and the traditional genetic algorithm, and has more advantages in reducing the coverage path length and repeating the coverage area. With the rapid development of new power systems, diverse new power services have imposed stricter requirements on network resources and performance. However, the traditional method of transmitting request data to the IoT management platform for unified processing suffers from large delays due to long transmission distances, making it difficult to meet the delay requirements of new power services. Therefore, to reduce the transmission delay, data transmission, storage and computation need to be performed locally. However, due to the limited resources of individual nodes in the local power wireless communication network, issues such as tight coupling between devices and resources and a lack of flexible allocation need to be addressed. The collaborative allocation of resources among multiple nodes in the local network is necessary to satisfy the multi-dimensional resource requirements of new power services. In response to the problems of limited node resources, inflexible resource allocation, and the high complexity of multi-dimensional resource allocation in local power wireless communication networks, this paper proposes a multi-objective joint optimization model for the collaborative allocation of communication, storage, and computing resources. This model utilizes the computational characteristics of communication resources to reduce the dimensionality of the objective function. Furthermore, a mouse swarm optimization algorithm based on multi-strategy improvements is proposed. Traditional data-driven tool wear state recognition methods rely on complete data under targeted working conditions. However, in actual cutting operations, working conditions vary, and data for many conditions lack labels, with data distribution characteristics differing between conditions. To address these issues, this article proposes a method for recognizing the wear state of milling cutters under varying working conditions based on an optimized symmetrized dot pattern (SDP). This method utilizes complete data from source working conditions for representation learning, transferring a generalized milling cutter wear state recognition model to varying working condition scenarios. By leveraging computer image processing features, the vibration signals produced by milling are converted into desymmetrization dot pattern images. Clustering analysis is used to extract template images of different wear states, and differential evolution algorithms are employed to adaptively optimize parameters using the maximization of Euclidean distance as an indicator. Transfer learning with a residual network incorporating an attention mechanism is used to recognize the wear state of milling cutters under varying working conditions. The experimental results indicate that the method proposed in this paper reduces the impact of working condition changes on the mapping relationship of milling cutter wear states. Community structure is a very interesting attribute and feature in complex networks, which has attracted scholars' attention and research on community detection. Many single-objective optimization algorithms have been migrated and modified to serve community detection problems. Due to the limitation of resolution, the final algorithm implementation effect is not ideal. In this paper, a multi-objective community detection method based on a pigeon-inspired optimization algorithm, MOPIO-Net, is proposed. Firstly, the PIO algorithm is discretized in terms of the solution space representation, position, and velocity-updating strategies to adapt to discrete community detection scenarios. Secondly, by minimizing the two objective functions of community score and community fitness at the same time, the community structure with a tight interior and sparse exterior is obtained. Finally, for the misclassification caused by boundary nodes, a mutation strategy is added to improve the accuracy of the final community recognition. Experiments on synthetic and real networks verify that the proposed algorithm is more accurate in community recognition compared to 11 benchmark algorithms, confirming the effectiveness of the proposed method. Assessing building energy consumption is of paramount significance in sustainability and energy efficiency (EE) studies. The development of an accurate EE prediction model is pivotal for optimizing energy resources and facilitating effective building planning. Traditional physical modeling approaches are encumbered by high complexity and protracted modeling cycles. In this paper, we introduce a novel evolutionary dendritic neural regression (EDNR) model tailored to forecasting residential building EE. Acknowledging the vast landscape and complexity of the EDNR weight space, coupled with the inherent susceptibility of traditional optimization algorithms to local optima, we propose a complex network-guided strategy-based differential evolution algorithm for training the EDNR model. This strategy adeptly strikes a balance between exploration and exploitation during the search process, significantly enhancing the predictive and generalization capacities of EDNR. To our knowledge, this study represents the inaugural application of dendritic neural regression in real-world prediction scenarios. Extensive experimental findings demonstrate the efficacy of EDNR in accurately predicting building EE with commendable performance. Furthermore, the results of two nonparametric statistical tests affirm the validity and stability of EDNR. Abnormal conditions greatly reduce the efficiency of hydraulic fracturing of unconventional gas reservoirs. Optimizing the fracturing scheme is crucial to minimize the likelihood of abnormal operational conditions, such as pressure channeling, casing deformation, and proppant plugging. This paper proposes a novel machine learning-based method for optimizing abnormal conditions during hydraulic fracturing of unconventional natural gas reservoirs. Firstly, the main controlling factors of abnormal conditions are selected through a hybrid controlling analysis, upon which a surrogate model is established for predicting the occurrence probability of abnormal conditions, rather than whether abnormal conditions happen or not. Subsequently, a machine learning-based optimization algorithm is developed to minimize the occurrence probability of abnormal conditions, acknowledging their inevitability during the fracturing process. The optimal results demonstrate the proposed method outperforms traditional methods, on average. Micro-pits are widely used in the aerospace and tribology sectors on cylindrical surfaces and electrochemical micromachining which are of great significance for the high material removal rate, absence of tool wear, and mechanical stress, while facing significant challenges such as stray corrosion and low machining efficiency. Aiming at the above problems, this paper proposes a comprehensive method called radial ultrasonic rolling electrochemical micromachining (RUREMM) in which an ultrasonic field has been added onto the cylindrical surface. First, a theoretical model was created to gain the rules of the formation and collapse of bubbles in the liquid medium. Second, to analyze the optimal size of the cathode electrode, the COMSOL5.2 simulation software was proposed to research the influence of the electric field on the different dimensions, and the influences of different parameters in RUREMM on material depth/diameter ratio and roughness are explored through processing experiments. Research results found that the cavitation bubble undergoes expansion, compression, collapse and oscillation, where the max deviation is less than 12.5%. The optimized size was chosen as 200 × 200 μm2 and an electrode spacing of 800 μm through a series of electric field model simulation analyses. Relevant experiments show that the minimum pits with a width of 212.4 μm, a depth of 21.8 μm, and a surface roughness (Ra) of 0.253 μm were formed due to the optimized parameters. Aiming at addressing the security and efficiency challenges during image transmission, an efficient image cryptosystem utilizing difference matrix and genetic algorithm is proposed in this paper. A difference matrix is a typical combinatorial structure that exhibits properties of discretization and approximate uniformity. It can serve as a pseudo-random sequence, offering various scrambling techniques while occupying a small storage space. The genetic algorithm generates multiple ciphertext images with strong randomness through local crossover and mutation operations, then obtains high-quality ciphertext images through multiple iterations using the optimal preservation strategy. The whole encryption process is divided into three stages: first, the difference matrix is generated; second, it is utilized for initial encryption to ensure that the resulting ciphertext image has relatively good initial randomness; finally, multiple rounds of local genetic operations are used to optimize the output. The proposed cryptosystem is demonstrated to be effective and robust through simulation experiments and statistical analyses, highlighting its superiority over other existing algorithms. With the expansion of the scale of electric power, high-quality electrical energy remains a crucial aspect of power system management and operation. The generation of reactive power is the primary cause of the decline in electrical energy quality. Therefore, optimization of reactive power in the power system becomes particularly important. The primary objective of this article is to create a multi-objective reactive power optimization (MORPO) model for distribution networks. The model aims to minimize reactive power loss, reduce the overall compensation required for reactive power devices, and minimize the total sum of node voltage deviations. To tackle the MORPO problems for distribution networks, the improved sparrow search algorithm–particle swarm optimization (ISSA-PSO) algorithm is proposed. Specifically, two improvements are proposed in this paper. The first is to introduce a chaotic mapping mechanism to enhance the diversity of the population during initialization. The second is to introduce a three-stage differential evolution mechanism to improve the global exploration capability of the algorithm. The proposed algorithm is tested on the IEEE 33-node system and the practical 22-node system. The results indicate a reduction of 32.71% in network losses for the IEEE 33-node system after optimization, and the average voltage of the circuit increases from 0.9485 p.u. to 0.9748 p.u. At the same time, optimization results in a reduction of 44.07% in network losses for the practical 22-node system, and the average voltage of the circuit increases from 0.9838 p.u. to 0.9921 p.u. WebAssembly code is designed to run in a sandboxed environment, such as a web browser, providing a high level of security and isolation from the underlying operating system and hardware. This enables the execution of untrusted code in a web browser without compromising the security and integrity of the user's system. This paper discusses the challenges associated with using fuzzing tools to identify vulnerabilities or bugs in WebAssembly interpreters. Our approach, known as ESFuzzer, introduces an efficient method for fuzzing WebAssembly interpreters using an Equivalent-Statement concept and the Stack Repair Algorithm. The samples generated by our approach successfully passed code validation. In addition, we developed effective mutation strategies to enhance the efficacy of our approach. ESFuzzer has demonstrated its ability to generate code that achieves 100% WebAssembly validation testing and achieves code coverage that is more than twice that of libFuzzer. Permanent Magnet-Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Machines (PMASynRM) provide a low-cost alternative to Surface PM Machines due to the use of relatively lower grades of rare-earth (RE) or RE-free magnets, as the performance degradation due to weaker magnets is compensated by the presence of reluctance torque. However, the weaker magnets suffer from a high risk of demagnetization, leading to unreliable motor operation. Using a blend of RE and RE-free magnets has the potential to overcome this issue. This paper proposes to blend different grades of various rare-earth (RE) and rare-earth-free (RE-free) magnets in six different combinations and utilizes them in two-layer and three-layer U-shaped PMASynRM topologies with both eight-pole and six-pole variations. The rotor of the various designs is then optimized using a differential evolution (DE) based optimization algorithm to obtain low-cost designs with reduced RE magnet volume and minimum demagnetization risk. The optimization of each design is also integrated with the evaluation of mechanical stresses in the rotor laminations so as to maintain the stresses below the material yield strength. Furthermore, the various performance metrics, such as toque–speed/power–speed characteristics, demagnetization, and efficiency maps, are evaluated for each of the optimized and mechanically feasible designs. A quantitative comparison of the various optimized designs is also obtained to highlight the various trade-offs. The results indicate the feasibility of meeting the baseline torque requirement across the entire speed range, even with a 100% reduction in RE magnet volume and less than 5% demagnetization risk, while achieving a cost reduction exceeding 50%. This paper presents a two-step approach for optimizing the configuration of a mobile photovoltaic-diesel-storage microgrid system. Initially, we developed a planning configuration model to ensure a balance between the mobility of components and a sustainable power supply. Then, we introduced a method that merges optimization and decision-making. The first phase identifies Pareto optimal solutions (POSs) with a favorable distribution by using a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm with classification-based preselection (CPS-MOEA). In the second phase, we utilize the fuzzy C-means algorithm (FCM) and the grey relational projection (GRP) method for comprehensive decision-making. This aims to select the most suitable and compromise solution from the POSs, closely aligning with the decision-maker's preferences. Beyond addressing the optimal planning and configuration issue, the experimental results show that the method surpasses other widely used multi-objective optimization algorithms, including the Preference Inspired Co-evolution Algorithm (PICEA-g), the Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm (MOPSO), and the third stage of Generalized Differential Evolution (GDE3). To increase the utilization of wave and other renewable energy resources, an integrated system consisting of an offshore wind turbine and a wave energy converter (WEC) could be used to harvest the potential energy. In this study, a dimensionless optimization method is developed for shape optimization of a hollow cylindrical WEC, and an optimal shape is obtained using a differential evolution (DE) algorithm. The frequency domain response characteristics of the WEC with different geometric shapes and viscous damping loads are studied. The numerical model of the wind-wave integrated system, which consists of a semisubmersible platform and the WEC, is developed and used. The dynamic responses of the integrated system with and without using the WEC optimum section are compared. The results show that the dimensionless optimization method utilized in this paper is very applicable for hollow cylindrical WECs. A smaller inner radius and larger draft increase the heave RAO amplitude of the WEC significantly. In addition, optimization of the WEC shape and power take-off (PTO) damping coefficient can significantly improve the energy capture of the integrated system, which increases by 32.03%. The research results of this paper provide guidance for achieving the optimum design of offshore wind-wave energy integrated systems and quantify the benefits of using optimum designs in the produced wave energy power. Industrial control systems (ICS) are facing increasing cybersecurity issues, leading to enormous threats and risks to numerous industrial infrastructures. In order to resist such threats and risks, it is particularly important to scientifically construct security strategies before an attack occurs. The characteristics of evolutionary algorithms are very suitable for finding optimal strategies. However, the more common evolutionary algorithms currently used have relatively large limitations in convergence accuracy and convergence speed, such as PSO, DE, GA, etc. Therefore, this paper proposes a hybrid strategy differential evolution algorithm based on reinforcement learning and opposition-based learning to construct the optimal security strategy. It greatly improved the common problems of evolutionary algorithms. This paper first scans the vulnerabilities of the water distribution system and generates an attack graph. Then, in order to solve the balance problem of cost and benefit, a cost–benefit-based objective function is constructed. Finally, the optimal security strategy set is constructed using the algorithm proposed in this paper. Through experiments, it is found that in the problem of security strategy construction, the algorithm in this paper has obvious advantages in convergence speed and convergence accuracy compared with some other intelligent strategy selection algorithms. Since the geometric transformation relationship of similar surfaces with complex features, such as local deformation and curvature changes, is hard to be solved through global registration, this paper proposes a method for solving the spatial transformation relationship of similar ruled surfaces based on registration of divided regions. First, an adaptive region division algorithm is proposed to divide similar surfaces, and then, an improved registration algorithm is proposed by adding two constraints which are the curvature feature and differential geometric features of point clouds. Through this improved registration algorithm, the geometric transformation relationship of each sub-region can be solved, and then the spatial geometric transformation relationship of the overall similar surface can be established. Moreover, the improved registration algorithm can ensure that the differential geometric properties of corresponding points are similar after registration, which may provide a basis for mapping and reuse of process knowledge between corresponding points on similar surfaces. Finally, two similar ruled surface blades are taken as examples for simulation verification, the results show that the maximum registration error of each sub-region is 0.025 mm, which is within the allowable error range, and the registration speed of the proposed algorithm is better than the S-ICP algorithm. When the shearer is cutting, the sound signal generated by the cutting drum crushing coal and rock contains a wealth of cutting status information. In order to effectively process the shearer cutting sound signal and accurately identify the cutting mode, this paper proposed a shearer cutting sound signal recognition method based on an improved complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise (ICCEMDAN) and an improved grey wolf optimizer (IGWO) algorithm-optimized support vector machine (SVM). First, the approach applied ICEEMDAN to process the cutting sound signal and obtained several intrinsic mode function (IMF) components. It used the correlation coefficient to select the characteristic component. Meanwhile, this paper calculated the composite multi-scale permutation entropy (CMPE) of the characteristic components as the eigenvalue. Then, the method introduced a differential evolution algorithm and nonlinear convergence factor to improve the GWO algorithm. It used the improved GWO algorithm to realize the adaptive selection of SVM parameters and established a cutting sound signal recognition model. According to the proportioning plan, the paper made several simulation coal walls for cutting experiments and collected cutting sound signals for cutting pattern recognition. The experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper can effectively process the cutting sound signal of the shearer, and the average accuracy of the cutting pattern recognition model reached 97.67%. Connected and autonomous vehicles (CAV) employ vehicle-to-vehicle communications to safely drive in a platoon with short inter-vehicle distances, which can improve traffic throughput and reduce fuel consumption. With the development of wireless communication technology, more and more information can be used for vehicle controllers. However, is more information better? In this paper, a fuel economy-based performance evaluation index is established for evaluating the efficiency of CAVs driving in a platoon with different communication topologies. Four typical communication topologies that describe the CAV with different amounts of information are studied by the linear controller. The differential evolution algorithm is used to solve the parameters. Due to the increase in information, more control parameters need to be computed, and it is hard to find an optimal solution. A Geiger-mode avalanche photodiode (GM-APD) laser radar range image has much noise when the signal-to-background ratios (SBRs) are low, making it difficult to recover the real target scene. In this paper, based on the GM-APD lidar denoising model of fractional-order total variation (FOTV), the spatial relationship and similarity relationship between pixels are obtained by using a spatial kernel function and range kernel function to optimize the fractional differential operator, and a new FOTV GM-APD lidar range-image denoising algorithm is designed. The lost information and range anomalous noise are suppressed while the target details and contour information are preserved. The Monte Carlo simulation and experimental results show that, under the same SBRs and statistical frame number, the proposed algorithm improves the target restoration degree by at least 5.11% and the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) by at least 24.6%. Differential evolution (DE) is a stochastic optimization technique that imitates the evolution process in nature. This paper uses an improved adaptive differential evolution to solve gravity inversion with multiplicative regularization. Compared with additive regularization, the advantage of multiplicative regularization is that it does not require the regularization parameter in the search process. The contributions in this paper mainly focus on two aspects: accelerating the convergence speed of adaptive DE and balancing the effect of model and data misfits in the objective function. The effectiveness of the proposed inversion method is verified by synthetic and field cases. For the synthetic cases, it is concluded that, based on the obtained results and analysis, the presented DE method is superior and competitive with its original version. Additionally, the designed parameter adaptation for multiplicative regularization is useful for trading off the effect of data and model misfits. For the field cases, two successful applications from China were conducted, and the obtained density source distributions were in accordance with those obtained from drilling wells. The synthetic and practical examples demonstrate that high-quality inversion results can be obtained using improved adaptive differential evolution and multiplicative regularization. With the rapid development of the geometric modeling industry and computer technology, the design and shape optimization of complex curve shapes have now become a very important research topic in CAGD. In this paper, the Hybrid Artificial Hummingbird Algorithm (HAHA) is used to optimize complex composite shape-adjustable generalized cubic Ball (CSGC–Ball, for short) curves. Firstly, the Artificial Hummingbird algorithm (AHA), as a newly proposed meta-heuristic algorithm, has the advantages of simple structure and easy implementation and can quickly find the global optimal solution. However, there are still limitations, such as low convergence accuracy and the tendency to fall into local optimization. Therefore, this paper proposes the HAHA based on the original AHA, combined with the elite opposition-based learning strategy, PSO, and Cauchy mutation, to increase the population diversity of the original algorithm, avoid falling into local optimization, and thus improve the accuracy and rate of convergence of the original AHA. Twenty-five benchmark test functions and the CEC 2022 test suite are used to evaluate the overall performance of HAHA, and the experimental results are statistically analyzed using Friedman and Wilkerson rank sum tests. The experimental results show that, compared with other advanced algorithms, HAHA has good competitiveness and practicality. Secondly, in order to better realize the modeling of complex curves in engineering, the CSGC–Ball curves with global and local shape parameters are constructed based on SGC–Ball basis functions. By changing the shape parameters, the whole or local shape of the curves can be adjusted more flexibly. Finally, in order to make the constructed curve have a more ideal shape, the CSGC–Ball curve-shape optimization model is established based on the minimum curve energy value, and the proposed HAHA is used to solve the established shape optimization model. A power system's nonlinearity and complexity increase from time to time due to increases of power demand. Therefore, properly designed power system controlsare required. Without these, system instability will cause equipment failures, and possibly even cascading events and blackouts. To cope with this, intelligent controllers using soft computing are necessary for real time operation. In this paper, the reheat type three-area thermal power system is considered, and the output scaling factors, gain parameters of fuzzy membership functions, and parameters of fuzzy-proportional integral derivative (FPID) controllers are optimized using a differential evolution (DE) optimization techniqueand integral time multiplied absolute error (ITAE) as objective functions. To improve the limitations of the controller and to enhance stability of the system, high voltage direct current (HVDC) technology is advantageous due to its quickresponse capabilities. In this paper, a HVDC is connected in parallel to the system, revealing that a FPID controller with a HVDC provides better and more accurate resultscompared to a system without a controller. This paper describes the development of a methodology for air propeller optimization using Bezier curves to describe blade geometry. The proposed approach allows for more flexibility in setting the propeller shape, for example, using a variable airfoil over the blade span. The goal of optimization is to identify the appropriate geometry of a propeller that reduces the power required to achieve a given thrust. Because the proposed optimization problem is a constrained optimization process, the technique of generating a penalty function was used to convert the process into a nonconstrained optimization. For the optimization process, a variant of the differential evolution algorithm was used, which includes adaptive techniques of the evolutionary operators and a population size reduction method. The aerodynamic characteristics of the propellers were obtained using the similar to blade element momentum theory (BEMT) isolated section method (ISM) and the XFOIL program. Replacing the angle of geometric twist with the angle of attack of the airfoil section as a design variable made it possible to increase the robustness of the optimization algorithm and reduce the calculation time. The optimization technique was implemented in the OpenVINT code and has been used to design helicopter and tractor propellers for unmanned aerial vehicles. The development algorithm was validated experimentally and using CFD numerical method. The experimental tests confirm that the optimized propeller geometry is superior to commercial analogues available on the market. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
