Improving velocity forecasts of blood microflows could be useful in biomedical applications. We focus on estimating the velocity of the blood in capillaries. Modeling blood microflow in capillaries is a complex process. In this paper, we use artificial intelligence techniques for this modeling: more precisely, artificial neural networks (ANNs). The selected model is able to accurately forecast the velocity, with an  R 2  of 0.8992 comparing the forecast with the actual velocity. A key part of ANN model creation is selecting the appropriate parameters for the ANN, such as the number of neurons, the number of layers and the type of training algorithm used. A grid approach with 327,600 simulations was used. It is shown that there are substantial, statistically significant differences when different types of ANN structures are used. It is also shown that the proposed model is robust regarding the initial random initialization of weights in the ANN. Short-term load forecasting (STLF) is critical for the energy industry. Accurate predictions of future electricity demand are necessary to ensure power systems' reliable and efficient operation. Various STLF models have been proposed in recent years, each with strengths and weaknesses. This paper comprehensively reviews some STLF models, including time series, artificial neural networks (ANNs), regression-based, and hybrid models. It first introduces the fundamental concepts and challenges of STLF, then discusses each model class's main features and assumptions. The paper compares the models in terms of their accuracy, robustness, computational efficiency, scalability, and adaptability and identifies each approach's advantages and limitations. Although this study suggests that ANNs and hybrid models may be the most promising ways to achieve accurate and reliable STLF, additional research is required to handle multiple input features, manage massive data sets, and adjust to shifting energy conditions. Technical losses in transmission systems are crucial for short-term planning and decision-making, particularly in complex systems. Traditional deterministic methods like Newton-Raphson prove ineffective in handling systems with a large number of buses and intricate topologies. Consequently, there is a growing interest in employing heuristic and intelligent algorithms to achieve faster and more accurate technical loss estimations. This paper introduces the Neural Network Prognosis Algorithm (NNPA), a simple and robust technique that exclusively relies on technical parameters derived from a Newton-Raphson-based load flow analysis, specifically active and reactive power, for 22 buses. The algorithm demonstrates promising progress, exhibiting notable convergence toward the desired mean squared error and achieving a commendable correlation coefficient of 0.999. Despite advancements in smart grid (SG) technology, effective load forecasting utilizing big data or large-scale datasets remains a complex task for energy management, planning, and control. The Saudi SGs, in alignment with the Saudi Vision 2030, have been envisioned as future electrical grids with a bidirectional flow of power and data. To that end, data analysis and predictive models can enhance Saudi SG planning and control via artificial intelligence (AI). Recently, many AI methods including deep learning (DL) algorithms for SG applications have been published in the literature and have shown superior time series predictions compared with conventional prediction models. Current load-prediction research for the Saudi grid focuses on identifying anticipated loads and consumptions, on utilizing limited historical data and the behavior of the load's consumption, and on conducting shallow forecasting models. However, little scientific proof on complex DL models or real-life application has been conducted by researchers; few articles have studied sophisticated large-scale prediction models for Saudi grids. This paper proposes hybrid DL methods to enhance the outcomes in Saudi SG load forecasting, to improve problem-relevant features, and to accurately predict complicated power consumption, with the goal of developing reliable forecasting models and of obtaining knowledge of the relationships between the various features and attributes in the Saudi SGs. The model in this paper utilizes a real dataset from the Jeddah and Medinah grids in Saudi Arabia for a full year, 2021, with a one-hour time resolution. A benchmark strategy using different conventional DL methods including artificial neural network, recurrent neural network (RNN), conventional neural networks (CNN), long short-term memory (LSTM), gated recurrent unit (GRU), and different real datasets is used to verify the proposed models. The prediction results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed hybrid DL models, with CNN–GRU and CNN–RNN with NRMSE obtaining 1.4673% and 1.222% improvements, respectively, in load forecasting accuracy. Load forecasting (LF) is an essential factor in power system management. LF helps the utility maximize the utilization of power-generating plants and schedule them both reliably and economically. In this paper, a novel and hybrid forecasting method is proposed, combining a long short-term memory network (LSTM) and neural prophet (NP) through an artificial neural network. The paper aims to predict electric load for different time horizons with improved accuracy as well as consistency. The proposed model uses historical load data, weather data, and statistical features obtained from the historical data. Multiple case studies have been conducted with two different real-time data sets on three different types of load forecasting. The hybrid model is later compared with a few established methods of load forecasting found in the literature with different performance metrics: mean average percentage error (MAPE), root mean square error (RMSE), sum of square error (SSE), and regression coefficient (R). Moreover, a guideline with various attributes is provided for different types of load forecasting considering the applications of the proposed model. The results and comparisons from our test cases showed that the proposed hybrid model improved the forecasting accuracy for three different types of load forecasting over other forecasting techniques. In this paper, a methodology for short-term forecasting of power generated by a photovoltaic module is reported. The method incorporates a nonlinear autoregressive with exogenous inputs (NARX) fed by the solar radiation and temperature times series, as well as an estimation of power time series obtained by implementing an ideal single diode model. This synthetic time series was validated against an actual photovoltaic module. The NARX model has been implemented in conjunction with the corrective vector multiplier (CVM) technique, which uses solar radiation under clear sky conditions to adjust the forecasting results. In addition, collinearity and the Granger causality tests were used to choose the input variables. The forecasting horizon was 24-h-ahead. The hybrid NARX-CVM model was compared to a nonlinear autoregressive neural network and persistence model using the typic forecasting error measures such as the mean bias error, mean squared error, root mean squared error and forecast skill. The results showed that the forecasting skills of the hybrid model are about 34% against the NAR model and about 42% against the Persistence model. The model was validated by blind forecasting. Deflections on continuous beams with glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) reinforcement are calculated in accordance with the appropriate standards (ACI 440.1R-15, CSA S806-12). However, experimental research provides results which differ from the values calculated pursuant to the standards, particularly when it comes to continuous beams. Machine learning methods can be applied for predicting a deflection level on continuous beams with GFRP (glass fiber-reinforced polymer) reinforcement and loaded with a concentrated load. This paper presents research on using artificial neural networks for deflection estimation and an optimal prediction model choice. It was necessary to first develop a database, in order to train the neural network. The database was formed based on the results of the experimental research on continuous beams with GFRP reinforcement. Using the best trained neural network model, high accuracy was obtained in estimating deflection, expressed over the mean absolute percentage error, 9.0%. Featured Application: This paper presents solutions for smart devices with embedded artificial intelligence dedicated to vehicular applications. Virtual sensors based on neural networks or regressors provide real-time predictions on diesel engine power loss caused by increased exhaust back pressure. The actual trade-off among engine emissions and performance requires detailed investigations into exhaust system configurations. Correlations among engine data acquired by sensors are susceptible to artificial intelligence (AI)-driven performance assessment. The influence of exhaust back pressure (EBP) on engine performance, mainly on effective power, was investigated on a turbocharged diesel engine tested on an instrumented dynamometric test-bench. The EBP was externally applied at steady state operation modes defined by speed and load. A complete dataset was collected to supply the statistical analysis and machine learning phases—the training and testing of all the AI solutions developed in order to predict the effective power. By extending the cloud-/edge-computing model with the cloud AI/edge AI paradigm, comprehensive research was conducted on the algorithms and software frameworks most suited to vehicular smart devices. A selection of artificial neural networks (ANNs) and regressors was implemented and evaluated. Currently, artificial intelligence (AI) is emerging as a dominant force in various technologies, owing to its unparalleled efficiency. Among the plethora of AI techniques available, neural networks (NNs) have garnered significant attention due to their adeptness in addressing diverse challenges, particularly for prediction tasks. This study offers a comprehensive review of predominant AI-based approaches to photovoltaic (PV) energy forecasting, with a particular emphasis on artificial neural networks (ANNs). We introduce a revolutionary methodology that amalgamates the predictive capabilities of ANN with the precision control afforded by the minimum-risk problem and sliding mode control (MRP-SMC), thereby revolutionizing the PV panel performance enhancement. Building upon this methodology, our hybrid approach utilizes the ANN as a proficient weather forecaster, accurately predicting the temperature and solar radiation levels impacting the panels. These forecasts serve as guiding principles for the MRP-SMC algorithm, enabling the proactive determination of the Maximum Power Point (MPP). Unlike conventional methods that grapple with weather unpredictability, the MRP-SMC algorithm transforms stochastic optimization challenges into controllable deterministic risk problems. Our method regulates the boost converter's work cycle dynamically. This dynamic adaptation, guided by environmental predictions from ANNs, unlocks the full potential of PV panels, maximizing energy recovery efficiency. To train the model, we utilized a large dataset comprising 60,538 temperature and solar radiation readings from the Department of Systems Engineering and Automation at the Faculty of Engineering in Vitoria (University of the Basque Country). Our approach demonstrates a high regression coefficient (R = 0.99) and low mean square error (MSE = 0.0044), underscoring its exceptional ability to predict real energy values. Several outbreak prediction models for COVID-19 are being used by officials around the world to make informed decisions and enforce relevant control measures. Among the standard models for COVID-19 global pandemic prediction, simple epidemiological and statistical models have received more attention by authorities, and these models are popular in the media. Due to a high level of uncertainty and lack of essential data, standard models have shown low accuracy for long-term prediction. Although the literature includes several attempts to address this issue, the essential generalization and robustness abilities of existing models need to be improved. This paper presents a comparative analysis of machine learning and soft computing models to predict the COVID-19 outbreak as an alternative to susceptible–infected–recovered (SIR) and susceptible-exposed-infectious-removed (SEIR) models. Among a wide range of machine learning models investigated, two models showed promising results (i.e., multi-layered perceptron, MLP; and adaptive network-based fuzzy inference system, ANFIS). Based on the results reported here, and due to the highly complex nature of the COVID-19 outbreak and variation in its behavior across nations, this study suggests machine learning as an effective tool to model the outbreak. This paper provides an initial benchmarking to demonstrate the potential of machine learning for future research. As a subdivision of computer science, AI focuses on the development of advanced algorithms capable of performing complex tasks that were once reliant on human intelligence. The ultimate goal is to achieve human-level performance with improved efficiency and accuracy in problem-solving and task execution, thereby reducing the need for human intervention. Various industries, including engineering, media/entertainment, finance, and education, have already reaped significant benefits by incorporating AI systems into their operations. Notably, the healthcare sector has witnessed rapid growth in the utilization of AI technology. Nevertheless, there remains untapped potential for AI to truly revolutionize the industry. It is important to note that despite concerns about job displacement, AI in healthcare should not be viewed as a threat to human workers. Instead, AI systems are designed to augment and support healthcare professionals, freeing up their time to focus on more complex and critical tasks. The proliferation and great variety of low-cost air quality (AQ) sensors, combined with their flexibility and energy efficiency, gives an opportunity to integrate them into Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). However, with these sensors, AQ monitoring poses a significant challenge, as the data collection and analysis process is complex and prone to errors. Although these sensors do not meet the performance requirements for reference regulatory-equivalent monitoring, they can provide informative measurements and more if we can adjust and add further processing to their raw measurements. Therefore, the integration of these sensors aims to facilitate real-time monitoring and achieve a higher spatial and temporal sampling density, particularly in urban areas, where there is a strong interest in providing AQ surveillance services since there is an increase in respiratory/allergic issues among the population. Leveraging a network of low-cost sensors, supported by 5G communications in combination with Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques (using Convolutional and Deep Neural Networks (CNN and DNN)) to predict 24-h-ahead readings is the goal of this article in order to be able to provide early warnings to the populations of hazards areas. We have evaluated four different neural network architectures: Multi-Linear prediction (with a dense Multi-Linear Neural Network (NN)), Multi-Dense network prediction, Multi-Convolutional network prediction, and Multi-Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network prediction. To perform the training of the prediction of the readings, we have prepared a significant dataset that is analyzed and processed for training and testing, achieving an estimation error for most of the predicted parameters of around 7.2% on average, with the best option being the Multi-LSTM network in the forthcoming 24 h. Artificial intelligence (AI) has gained significant traction in the field of drug discovery, with deep learning (DL) algorithms playing a crucial role in predicting protein–ligand binding affinities. Despite advancements in neural network architectures, system representation, and training techniques, the performance of DL affinity prediction has reached a plateau, prompting the question of whether it is truly solved or if the current performance is overly optimistic and reliant on biased, easily predictable data. Like other DL-related problems, this issue seems to stem from the training and test sets used when building the models. In this work, we investigate the impact of several parameters related to the input data on the performance of neural network affinity prediction models. Notably, we identify the size of the binding pocket as a critical factor influencing the performance of our statistical models; furthermore, it is more important to train a model with as much data as possible than to restrict the training to only high-quality datasets. Finally, we also confirm the bias in the typically used current test sets. The energy demand in Pakistan is escalating owing to the growing population, rapid urbanization, and industrial growth. Therefore, the development and execution of Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EE&C) policies and initiatives are critical for the Government in order to enhance energy efficiency and to address the country's increasing energy demand. In this study, the Low Emission Analysis Platform (LEAP) tool is used to develop and analyze the effects of load control, energy efficiency, and conservation-based measures. Based on the policy analysis and energy consumption patterns, macro-economic modeling has been undertaken using LEAP for the study period 2020-2050. The two scenarios developed are Business-As-Usual (BAU) and Demand-Side-Management (DSM). The model results forecast 1910.2 TWh electricity demand by 2050 under the BAU scenario, with an average annual growth rate of 5.5%, which is eighteen times greater than energy demand in the base year. The sustainable electricity generation path followed under the DSM scenario ensures a lower demand of 1597.5 TWh and an average annual growth rate of 4.5%. This scenario will reduce energy use by 16% compared to the BAU scenario. Therefore, it is proposed that policy may be envisaged using infrastructural and consumer engagement approaches to encourage DSM development in Pakistan. Rainfall forecasting is one of the most challenging factors of weather forecasting all over the planet. Due to climate change, Thailand has experienced extreme weather events, including prolonged lacks of and heavy rainfall. Accurate rainfall forecasting is crucial for Thailand's agricultural sector. Agriculture depends on rainfall water, which is important for water resources, adversity management, and overall socio-economic development. Artificial intelligence techniques (AITs) have shown remarkable precision in rainfall forecasting in the past two decades. AITs may accurately forecast rainfall by identifying hidden patterns from past weather data features. This research investigates and reviews the most recent AITs focused on advanced machine learning (ML), artificial neural networks (ANNs), and deep learning (DL) utilized for rainfall forecasting. For this investigation, academic articles from credible online search libraries published between 2000 and 2022 are analyzed. The authors focus on Thailand and the worldwide applications of AITs for rainfall forecasting and determine the best methods for Thailand. This will assist academics in analyzing the most recent work on rainfall forecasting, with a particular emphasis on AITs, but it will also serve as a benchmark for future comparisons. The investigation concludes that hybrid models combining ANNs with wavelet transformation and bootstrapping can improve the current accuracy of rainfall forecasting in Thailand. Studying the attention of "artificial intelligence + education" in ethnic areas is of great significance for China for promoting the integrated development of new educational modes and modern technology in the western region. Guizhou province is an area inhabited by ethnic minorities, located in the heart of Southwest China. The development of its intelligent education has strong enlightenment for the whole country and the region. Therefore, this paper selects the Baidu Index of "artificial intelligence (AI) + education" in Guizhou province from 2013 to 2020, analyzes the spatial–temporal characteristics of its network attention by using the elastic coefficient method, and builds the ARIMA model on this basis to predict future development. The results show that the public's attention to "AI + education" differs significantly in time and space. Then, according to the prediction results, this paper puts forward relevant suggestions for the country to promote the sustainable development of education in western ethnic areas. With climate change driving an increasingly stronger influence over governments and municipalities, sustainable development, and renewable energy are gaining traction across the globe. This is reflected within the EU 2030 agenda, that envisions a future where there is universal access to affordable, reliable and sustainable energy. One of the challenges to achieve this vision lies on the low reliability of certain renewable sources. While both particulars and public entities try to reach self-sufficiency through sustainable energy generation, it is unclear how much investment is needed to mitigate the unreliability introduced by natural factors such as varying wind speed and daylight across the year. In this sense, a tool that aids predicting the energy output of sustainable sources across the year for a particular location can aid greatly in making sustainable energy investments more efficient. In this paper, we make use of Open Data sources, Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and installations distributed across Europe to create such tool through the application of Artificial Neural Networks. We analyze how the different factors affect the prediction of energy production and how Open Data can be used to predict the expected output of sustainable sources. As a result, we facilitate users the necessary information to decide how much they wish to invest according to the desired energy output for their particular location. Compared to state-of-the-art proposals, our solution provides an abstraction layer focused on energy production, rather that radiation data, and can be trained and tailored for different locations using Open Data. Finally, our tests show that our proposal improves the accuracy of the forecasting, obtaining a lower mean squared error (MSE) of 0.040 compared to an MSE 0.055 from other proposals in the literature. Wave overtopping is an important design criterion for coastal structures such as dikes, breakwaters and promenades. Hence, the prediction of the expected wave overtopping discharge is an important research topic. Existing prediction tools consist of empirical overtopping formulae, machine learning techniques like neural networks, and numerical models. In this paper, an innovative machine learning method—gradient boosting decision trees—is applied to the prediction of mean wave overtopping discharges. This new machine learning model is trained using the CLASH wave overtopping database. Optimizations to its performance are realized by using feature engineering and hyperparameter tuning. The model is shown to outperform an existing neural network model by reducing the error on the prediction of the CLASH database by a factor of 2.8. The model predictions follow physically realistic trends for variations of important features, and behave regularly in regions of the input parameter space with little or no data coverage. This paper presents a framework based on machine learning algorithms to predict nutrient content in leaf hyperspectral measurements. This is the first approach to evaluate macro- and micronutrient content with both machine learning and reflectance/first-derivative data. For this, citrus-leaves collected at a Valencia-orange orchard were used. Their spectral data was measured with a Fieldspec ASD FieldSpec® HandHeld 2 spectroradiometer and the surface reflectance and first-derivative spectra from the spectral range of 380 to 1020 nm (640 spectral bands) was evaluated. A total of 320 spectral signatures were collected, and the leaf-nutrient content (N, P, K, Mg, S, Cu, Fe, Mn, and Zn) was associated with them. For this, 204,800 (320 × 640) combinations were used. The following machine learning algorithms were used in this framework: k-Nearest Neighbor (kNN), Lasso Regression, Ridge Regression, Support Vector Machine (SVM), Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Decision Tree (DT), and Random Forest (RF). The training methods were assessed based on Cross-Validation and Leave-One-Out. The Relief-F metric of the algorithms' prediction was used to determine the most contributive wavelength or spectral region associated with each nutrient. This approach was able to return, with high predictions (R2), nutrients like N (0.912), Mg (0.832), Cu (0.861), Mn (0.898), and Zn (0.855), and, to a lesser extent, P (0.771), K (0.763), and S (0.727). These accuracies were obtained with different algorithms, but RF was the most suitable to model most of them. The results indicate that, for the Valencia-orange leaves, surface reflectance data is more suitable to predict macronutrients, while first-derivative spectra is better linked to micronutrients. In this paper, we forecast the price of CO2 emission allowances using an artificial intelligence tool: neural networks. We were able to provide confident predictions of several future prices by processing a set of past data. Different model structures were tested. The influence of subjective economic and political decisions on price evolution leads to complex behavior that is hard to forecast. We analyzed correlations with different economic variables related to the price of CO2 emission allowances and found the behavior of two to be similar: electricity prices and iron and steel prices. They, along with CO2 emission allowance prices, were included in the forecasting model in order to verify whether or not this improved forecasting accuracy. Only slight improvements were observed, which proved to be more significant when their respective time series trends or fluctuations were used instead of the original time series. These results show that there is some sort of link between the three variables, suggesting that the price of CO2 emission allowances is closely related to the time evolution of the price of electricity and that of iron and steel, which are very pollutant industrial sectors. Improved-performance day-ahead electricity demand forecast is important to deliver necessary information for right decision of energy management of microgrids. It supports microgrid operators and stakeholders to have better decisions on microgrid flexibility, stability and control. The available conventional forecasting methods for electricity demand at national or regional level are not effective for electricity demand forecasting in microgrids. This is due to the fact that the electricity consumption in microgrids is many times less than the regional or national demands and it is highly volatile. In this paper, an integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) based approach consisting of Wavelet Transform (WT), Simulated Annealing (SA) and Feedforward Artificial Neural Network (FFANN) is devised for day-ahead prediction of electric power consumption in microgrids. The FFANN is the basic forecasting engine of the proposed model. The WT is utilized to extract relevant features of the target variable (electric load data series) to obtain a cluster of enhanced-feature subseries. The extracted subseries of the past values of the electric load demand data are employed as the target variables to model the FFANN. The SA optimization technique is employed to obtain the optimal values of the FFANN weight parameters during the training process. Historical information of actual electricity consumption, meteorological variables, daily variations, weekly variations, and working/non-working day indicators have been employed to develop the forecasting tool of the devised integrated AI based approach. The approach is validated using electricity demand data of an operational microgrid in Beijing, China. The prediction results are presented for future testing days with one-hour time interval. The validation results demonstrated that the devised approach is capable to forecast the microgrid electricity demand with acceptably small error and reasonably short computation time. Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) affects climate change and human health. Therefore, the prediction of PM2.5 level is particularly important for regulatory planning. The main objective of the study is to predict PM2.5 concentration employing an artificial neural network (ANN). The annual change in PM2.5 in Liaocheng from 2014 to 2021 shows a gradual decreasing trend. The air quality in Liaocheng during lockdown and after lockdown periods in 2020 was obviously improved compared with the same periods of 2019. The ANN employed in the study contains a hidden layer with 6 neurons, an input layer with 11 parameters, and an output layer. First, the ANN is used with 80% of data for training, then with 10% of data for verification. The value of correlation coefficient (R) for the training and validation data is 0.9472 and 0.9834, respectively. In the forecast period, it is demonstrated that the ANN model with Bayesian regularization (BR) algorithm (trainbr) obtained the best forecasting performance in terms of R (0.9570), mean absolute error (4.6 μg/m3), and root mean square error (6.6 μg/m3), respectively. The ANN model has produced accurate results. These results prove that the ANN is effective in monthly PM2.5 concentration predicting due to the fact that it can identify nonlinear relationships between the input and output variables. Numerical simulation models are commonly used to analyze and simulate urban waterlogging risk. However, the computational efficiency of numerical models is too low to meet the requirements of urban emergency management. In this study, a new method was established by combining a long short-term memory neural network model with a numerical model, which can quickly predict the waterlogging depth of a city. First, a numerical model was used to simulate and calculate the ponding depth of each ponding point under different rainfall schemes. Using the simulation results as training samples, the long short-term memory neural network was trained to predict and simulate the waterlogging process. The results showed that the proposed "double model" prediction model appropriately reflected the relationship between the changes in waterlogging depth and the temporal and spatial changes in rainfall, and the accuracy and speed of computation were higher than those of the numerical model alone. The simulation speed of the "double model" was 324,000 times that of the numerical model alone. In the present study Artificial Neural Network (ANN) has been optimized using a hybrid algorithm of Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). The hybrid GA-PSO algorithm has been used to improve the estimation of electricity demand of the state of Tamil Nadu in India. The ANN-GA-PSO model uses gross domestic product (GSDP); electricity consumption per capita; income growth rate and consumer price index (CPI) as predictors that affect the electricity demand. Using the historical demand data of 25 years from 1991 till 2015 it is found that ANN-GA-PSO models have higher accuracy and performance reliability than single optimization models such as ANN-PSO or ANN-GA. In addition, the paper also forecasts the electricity demand of the state based on “as-it-is” scenario and the scenario based on milestones set by the “Vision-2023” document of the state. The evolution of electricity markets has led to increasingly complex energy trading dynamics and the integration of renewable energy sources as well as the influence of several external market factors contributed towards price volatility. Therefore, day-ahead electricity price forecasting models, typically using some kind of neural network, play a crucial role in the optimal behavior of market agents. The most prominent models and benchmarks rely on improving the accuracy of predictions and the time for convergence by some sort of a priori processing of the dataset that is used for the training of the neural network, such as hyperparameter tuning and feature selection techniques. What has been overlooked so far is the possible benefit of a posteriori processing, which would consider the effects of parameters that could refine the predictions once they have been made. Such a parameter is the estimation of the residual training error. In this study, we investigate the effect of residual training error estimation for the day-ahead price forecasting task and propose an error compensation deep neural network model (ERC–DNN) that focuses on the minimization of prediction error, while reinforcing error stability through the integration of an autoregression module. The experiments on the Nord Pool power market indicated that this approach yields improved error metrics when compared to the baseline deep learning structure in different training scenarios, and the refined predictions for each hourly sequence shared a more stable error profile. The proposed method contributes towards the development of more flexible hybrid neural network models and the potential integration of the error estimation module in future benchmarks, given a small and interpretable set of hyperparameters. The environmental microclimatic characteristics are often subject to fluctuations of considerable importance, which can cause irreparable damage to art works. We explored the applicability of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to the Cultural Heritage area, with the aim of predicting short-term microclimatic values based on data collected at Rosenborg Castle (Copenhagen), housing the Royal Danish Collection. Specifically, this study applied the NAR (Nonlinear Autoregressive) and NARX (Nonlinear Autoregressive with Exogenous) models to the Rosenborg microclimate time series. Even if the two models were applied to small datasets, they have shown a good adaptive capacity predicting short-time future values. This work explores the use of AI in very short forecasting of microclimate variables in museums as a potential tool for decision-support systems to limit the climate-induced damages of artworks within the scope of their preventive conservation. Predicting stock market (SM) trends is an issue of great interest among researchers, investors and traders since the successful prediction of SMs' direction may promise various benefits. Because of the fairly nonlinear nature of the historical data, accurate estimation of the SM direction is a rather challenging issue. The aim of this study is to present a novel machine learning (ML) model to forecast the movement of the Borsa Istanbul (BIST) 100 index. Modeling was performed by multilayer perceptron–genetic algorithms (MLP–GA) and multilayer perceptron–particle swarm optimization (MLP–PSO) in two scenarios considering Tanh (x) and the default Gaussian function as the output function. The historical financial time series data utilized in this research is from 1996 to 2020, consisting of nine technical indicators. Results are assessed using Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) and correlation coefficient values to compare the accuracy and performance of the developed models. Based on the results, the involvement of the Tanh (x) as the output function, improved the accuracy of models compared with the default Gaussian function, significantly. MLP–PSO with population size 125, followed by MLP–GA with population size 50, provided higher accuracy for testing, reporting RMSE of 0.732583 and 0.733063, MAPE of 28.16%, 29.09% and correlation coefficient of 0.694 and 0.695, respectively. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are envisaged to play key roles in 5G networks. Efficient radio resource management is of paramount importance for network operators. With the advent of newer technologies, infrastructure, and plans, spending significant radio resources on estimating channel conditions in mobile networks poses a challenge. Automating the process of predicting channel conditions can efficiently utilize resources. To this point, we propose an ML-based technique, i.e., an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) for predicting SINR (Signal-to-Interference-and-Noise-Ratio) in order to mitigate the radio resource usage in mobile networks. Radio resource scheduling is generally achieved on the basis of estimated channel conditions, i.e., SINR with the help of Sounding Reference Signals (SRS). The proposed Non-Linear Auto Regressive External/Exogenous (NARX)-based ANN aims to minimize the rate of sending SRS and achieves an accuracy of R = 0.87. In this study, artificial neural networks (ANNs) were used to predict the draft force of a rigid tine chisel cultivator. The factorial experiment based on the randomized complete block design (RCBD) was used to obtain the required data and to determine the factors affecting the draft force. The draft force of the chisel cultivator was measured using a three-point hitch dynamometer and data were collected using a DT800 datalogger. A recurrent back-propagation multilayer network was selected to predict the draft force of the cultivator. The gradient descent algorithm with momentum, Levenberg–Marquardt algorithm, and scaled conjugate gradient descent algorithm were used for network training. The tangent sigmoid transfer function was the activation functions in the layers. The draft force was predicted based on the tillage depth, soil moisture content, soil cone index, and forward speed. The results showed that the developed ANNs with two hidden layers (24 and 26 neurons in the first and second layers, respectively) with the use of the scaled conjugate gradient descent algorithm outperformed the networks developed with other algorithms. The average simulation accuracy and the correlation coefficient for the prediction of draft force of a chisel cultivator were 99.83% and 0.9445, respectively.
