The increasing global demand for cement significantly impacts greenhouse gas emissions and resource consumption, necessitating sustainable alternatives. This study investigates fresh geopolymer (GP) pastes incorporating 20 wt.% of five industrial wastes—suction dust, red mud from alumina production, electro-filter dust, and extraction sludges from food supplement production and from partially stabilized industrial waste—as potential replacements for traditional cement. Consistent synthesis methods are used to prepare the geopolymers, which are characterized for their physicochemical, mechanical, and biological properties. Ionic conductivity and pH measurements together with integrity tests, thermogravimetry analysis (TGA), and leaching analysis are used to confirm the stability of the synthesized geopolymers. Fourier-transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy is used to follow geopolymerization occurrences. Results for ionic conductivity, pH, and integrity revealed that the synthesized GPs were macroscopically stable. TGA revealed that the main mass losses were ascribable to water dehydration and to water entrapped in the geopolymer networks. Only the GP filled with the powder of the red mud coming from alumina production experienced a mass loss of 23% due to a partial waste degradation. FT-IR showed a red shift in the main Si-O-(Si or Al) absorption band, indicating successful geopolymer network formations. Additionally, most of the GPs filled with the wastes exhibited higher compressive strength (37.8–58.5 MPa) compared to the control (22 MPa). Only the GP filled with the partially stabilized industrial waste had a lower mechanical strength as its structure was highly porous because of gas formation during geopolymerization reactions. Despite the high compressive strength (58.5 MPa) of the GP filled with suction dust waste, the concentration of Sb leached was 25 ppm, which limits its use. Eventually, all samples also demonstrated effective antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus due to the alkaline environment and the presence of metal cations able to react with the bacterial membranes. The South Korean government has implemented an acceptance system to promote the high-quality recycling of waste. Industrial waste generators must provide "hazardous characteristics data" to recycling operators. Nonetheless, ~80% of industrial safety accidents in South Korea occur during recycling, most involving fire or explosions. Moreover, a gap in safety management exists during 'Circular Resource' acceptance if the target substance is not regarded as waste. In this study collected data on hazardous waste characteristics. From 62 waste generators, 72 waste samples were collected, accounting for most of the resources accepted for recycling, including waste synthetic polymers, slag, dust, waste sand, and waste foundry sand. Then, the hazardous characteristics, as stated in the Ministry of Environment notifications, were assessed. Leaching toxicity was detected in one slag sample and six dust samples. The Cd, Cu, As, Pb, Zn, Ni, Hg, F, and CN levels dissatisfied the Soil Contamination Warning Standard in 31 samples. Explosivity was not detected in any sample, whereas flammability was detected in one waste synthetic polymer sample. The results revealed 15 cases of potential flammability. Flammability is legally defined as below the criteria if the combustion speed criterion is not met. However, in the case of flame ignition, which could cause large fires and safety accidents, the relevant notification should be revised. In this study, we aimed to improve the gap between the hazardous waste management systems and industrial fields through actual measurements of hazardous characteristics. By doing so, we seek to contribute to the prevention of environmental and safety accidents. By continuously accumulating data and utilizing actual measurements, we aim to revise and enhance relevant regulations, ultimately improving the hazardous characteristics of waste management systems. Asphalt pavement construction is a large-volume project, with the ability to recycle the industrial waste and reduce carbon emissions. Rubber-modified asphalt is a carbon-neutralized asphalt-based material, facilitating the recycling of waste rubber materials and improving the road performance of the asphalt mixture. To evaluate the interface interaction of the rubber–asphalt system and its effect on the viscosity characteristics of rubber-modified asphalt, the contact properties of rubber particles in asphalt were analyzed on a microscopic level. Rubber swelling tests and solvent elution tests were conducted on the rubber–asphalt system under different preparation conditions. The swelling ratio, degradation ratio, and swelling–degradation ratio were proposed to evaluate the interface interaction. The results show that the interface interaction of the rubber–asphalt system can be divided into the following three stages: swelling, effective degradation, and over-degradation. The degree of swelling is mainly affected by the content and size of the rubber particles and it is physically condensed, while the degradation is mainly affected by the preparation temperature and preparation time. The effective interface interaction greatly affects the viscosity with the building of the stable three-dimensional network structure. The stronger the interface interaction, the greater the viscosity of the rubber-modified asphalt, except for the 25% content of rubber particles. The gel film will be generated on the surface of the rubber particles throughout the swelling and effective degradation, increasing the viscosity of the rubber-modified asphalt. The high-temperature composite phase change materials (HCPCMs) were prepared from solid waste blast furnace slag (BFS) and NaCl-KCl binary eutectic salt to achieve efficient and cost-effective utilization. To ensure good chemical compatibility with chlorine salt, modifier fly ash (FA) was incorporated and subjected to high-temperature treatment for the processing of industrial solid waste BFS, which possesses a complex chemical composition. The HCPCMs were synthesized through a three-step process involving static melting, solid waste modification, and mixing–cold pressing–sintering. Then, the influence of the modification method and the amount of SiC thermal conductivity reinforced material on chemical compatibility and thermodynamic performance was explored. The results demonstrate that the predominant phase of the modified solid waste is Ca2Al2SiO7, which exhibits excellent chemical compatibility with chlorine salt. HCPCMs containing less than 50 wt.% chloride content exhibit good morphological stability without any cracks, with a melting temperature of 661.76 °C and an enthalpy value of 108.73 J/g. Even after undergoing 60 thermal cycles, they maintain good chemical compatibility, with leakage rates for melting and solidification enthalpies being only 6.3% and 0.23%, respectively. The equilibrium was achieved when 40 wt.% of chloride salt was encapsulated upon the addition of 10% of SiC, and the incorporation of SiC resulted in an enhancement of thermal conductivity for HCPCMs to 2.959 W/(m·K) at room temperature and 2.400 W/(m·K) at 200 °C, with an average increase of about 2 times. The cost of the prepared HCPCMs experienced a significant reduction of 81.3%, demonstrating favorable economic performance and promising prospects for application. The efficient utilization of waste heat from industrial processes can provide a significant source of energy savings for production plants, as well as be a driver of sustainable operations and the abatement of emissions. Industrial waste heat usually is contained in liquid or gaseous outlet streams. Although the possible ways to utilize waste heat are discussed in a wide variety of papers, these either provide only a general overview of utilization options and opportunities or focus on a narrow range of industrial processes. The aim of the present paper is to discuss the practical aspects of waste heat utilization in the European Union so that the reader can gain perspective on (i) the thermal classification of waste heat, (ii) liquid and gaseous waste streams and their typical temperatures for industrial use cases, (iii) the technical, economic, physical, and environmental aspects barring full utilization of the available waste heat, (iv) waste heat sources in various industries, and (v) standardized equipment and technologies applicable to industrial waste heat utilization, including their advantages, disadvantages, and weak points. Sewage sludge and red mud, as common industrial waste, have become a research hotspot in the field of achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, reducing carbon emissions, and solving environmental problems. However, their treatment and disposal have always been a difficult problem in the environmental field. Utilizing these two materials for thermal energy storage can not only improve energy utilization efficiency but also further reduce carbon emissions during their treatment process, providing a new approach for sustainable development in the industrial sector. This article summarizes the research progress for the resource recovery of sewage sludge and red mud for direct thermal energy recovery and composite phase change energy storage. After proper treatment, sludge and red mud can be directly used as energy storage materials. In addition, sludge and red mud can be combined with phase change materials to prepare composite materials with an excellent energy storage performance. This composite has broad application prospects in fields such as solar energy utilization and building energy efficiency. However, there are still some challenges and issues in this resource recovery and utilization, such as potential environmental pollution during the treatment process, the long-term stability of energy storage materials, and cost-effectiveness, which require further research and resolution. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the potential of sewage sludge and red mud as energy storage materials, to explore their feasibility and advantages in practical applications, and to reveal the research progress, technical challenges, and future development directions of these two materials in the field of thermal energy storage. Alkali-activated materials are gaining much interest due to their outstanding performance, including their great resistance to chemical corrosion, good thermal characteristics, and ability to valorise industrial waste materials. Reusing waste glasses in creating alkali-activated materials appears to be a viable option for more effective solid waste utilisation and lower-cost products. However, very little research has been conducted on the suitability of waste glass as a prime precursor for alkali activation. This study examines the reuse of seven different types of waste glasses in the creation of geopolymeric and cementitious concretes as sustainable building materials, focusing in particular on how using waste glasses as the raw material in alkali-activated materials affects the durability, microstructures, hydration products, and fresh and hardened properties in comparison with using traditional raw materials. The impacts of several vital parameters, including the employment of a chemical activator, gel formation, post-fabrication curing procedures, and the distribution of source materials, are carefully considered. This review will offer insight into an in-depth understanding of the manufacturing and performance in promising applications of alkali-activated waste glass in light of future uses. The current study aims to provide a contemporary review of the chemical and structural properties of glasses and the state of research on the utilisation of waste glasses in the creation of alkali-activated materials. To improve the in situ soil stabilization, different chemical additives are used (ion exchange compounds, additives based on H2SO4 or vinyl polymers, and organic additives using lignosulfonates). One interesting alternative is the production of additives from various waste materials. The extensive testing of waste-based blends with soil was performed; the mechanical (unconfined compressive strength (UCS)) and hydraulic (capillary rise, water absorption, and frost resistance (FR)) soil properties were measured. The optimization process led to obtaining additive compositions ensuring high strength and sealing properties: by-pass ash from the ceramics industry, waste H2SO4, pyrolytic waxes/oils from waste mixed plastics, waste tires and HDPE, and emulsion from chewing gum waste. For sandy soil, the following additives were the most promising: emulsion from pyrolytic wax (EPW) from waste PE foil (WPEF) with the addition of waste H2SO4, pyrolytic-oil emulsion from waste tires, EPW from waste mixed plastics with the addition of "by-pass" waste ash and NaOH, EPW from WPEF with the addition of NaOH, and EPW from WPEF reaching up to 93% FR, a 79.6% 7-day UCS increase, and a 27.6% of 28-day UCS increase. For clay: EPW from WPEF with the addition of NaOH, EPW from WPEF with the addition of waste H2SO4, and solely EPW from WPEF reaching up to 7.5% FR, an 80.7% 7-day UCS increase, and a 119.1% 28-day UCS increase. This study focuses on using activated fly ash to preparate silica aerogel by the acid solution–alkali leaching method and ambient pressure drying. Additionally, to improve the performance of silica aerogel, C6H16O3Si (KH-570) and CH3Si(CH3O)3 (MTMS) modifiers were used. Finally, this paper investigated the factors affecting the desilication rate of fly ash and analyzed the structure and performance of silica aerogel. The experimental results show that: (1) The factors affecting the desilication rate are ranked as follows: hydrochloric acid concentration > solid–liquid ratio > reaction temperature > reaction time. (2) KH-570 showed the best performance, and when the volume ratio of the silica solution to it was 10:1, the density of silica aerogel reached a minimum of 183 mg/cm3. (3) The optimal process conditions are a hydrochloric acid concentration of 20 wt%, a solid–liquid ratio of 1:4, a reaction time of two hours, and a reaction temperature of 100 °C. (4) The optimal performance parameters of silica aerogel were the thermal conductivity, specific surface area, pore volume, average pore size, and contact angle values, with 0.0421 W·(m·K)−1, 487.9 m2·g−1, 1.107 cm3·g−1, 9.075 nm, and 123°, respectively. Citrus fruits are one of the most widely used fruits around the world and are used as raw fruits, but are also processed into products such as beverages, and large amounts of by-products and waste are generated in this process. Globally, disposal of citrus waste (CW) through simple landfilling or ocean dumping can result in soil and groundwater contamination, which can negatively impact ecosystem health. The case of Korea is not much different in that these wastes are simply buried or recycled wastes are used as livestock feed additives. However, there are many reports that CW, which is a waste, has high potential to produce a variety of products that can minimize environmental load and increase added value through appropriate waste management. In this study, we aim to explore the latest developments in the evaluation and valorization of the growing CW green technologies in an effort to efficiently and environmentally transform these CW for resource recovery, sustainability, and economic benefits. Recent research strategies on integrated biorefinery approaches have confirmed that CW can be converted into various bioproducts such as enzymes, biofuels and biopolymers, further contributing to energy security. The problem of the growing amount of waste polymer materials currently affects virtually every area of the global economy. New actions taken by the E.U. and member states could lead to a reduction in the burden on the natural environment, as well as the reuse of thermoplastic waste. The aim of this study was to analyze the possibility of reusing post-industrial waste (recycled polypropylene—rPP) in order to produce mixtures with original polypropylene (PP) and glass fibers. The research undertaken is characterized by a high level of innovation and was carried out on an industrial scale from industrial waste. The primary goal of the analyses was to determine changes in the properties of the polymer mixtures depending on the amount of recycled polymers. For this purpose, four types of mixtures were prepared, characterized by different degrees of filling with recycled material obtained from big-bag packaging (the filling levels were 0 wt.%, 20 wt.%, 30 wt.%, and 70 wt.%). A detailed analysis of the physical properties of the obtained mixtures was carried out to determine changes in the densities depending on the amount of rPP material. In addition, changes in the MFIs (melt flow indexes), characterizing viscosity changes, were analyzed depending on the amount of secondary raw material used. An analysis of the mechanical properties was also carried out based on static tensile testing, the impact strength (the Charpy method), and the Rockwell hardness test (the M method). The analysis of the thermal changes was performed using the DSC method. The results showed that the composites made of virgin polypropylene (PP GF30) and those made from re-granulates and glass fibers (rPP GF30) are characterized by similar mechanical properties and significantly different processing properties, determined by MFI. This means that the addition of re-granulates significantly affects the processability of the obtained materials, while the addition of glass fibers maintains the basic mechanical properties. Herein, wheat straw residue and pulping waste liquid were collected from pulping mill and mixed to prepare bio-based granular fuels by using compression molding technology, and to explore the comprehensive utilization of the industrial waste of pulping and papermaking. The effects of pulping waste liquid on granular fuel properties were analyzed systemically. Further study of the function of pulping waste liquid, cellulose and hemicellulose was used to replace wheat straw residue and avoid the interference factors. Therefore, the prediction models of granular fuels were established with influencing factors that included cellulose, hemicellulose and pulping waste liquid. The granular fuels had the best performance with 18.30% solid content of pulping waste liquid. The highest transverse compressive strength of granular fuel was 102.61 MPa, and the activation energy was 81.71 KJ·mol−1. A series of curve fitting prediction models were established to clarify the forming process of granular fuel, and it turned out that the pulping waste liquid could improve the adhesion between solid particles and increase their compression resistance. Engineering slag is a green building material that meets the requirements of contemporary sustainable development, and the solidification technology of residue is particularly important in the practical engineering of resource utilization and environmental protection. In order to reuse the waste soil and industrial waste and reduce the construction cost, the stabilization effect of adding different contents of calcium oxide, blast furnace slag and phosphogypsum to the waste soil of a township road reconstruction project was studied. The unconfined compressive strength test of calcium oxide further clarified the solidification mechanism of residual soil and helped us to obtain the optimal curing ratio. The dry and wet cycle test simulated the influence of temperature and humidity changes on the appearance, quality, strength and water resistance in actual engineering. The experimental results show that the unconfined compressive strength of the sample reaches 1.273 MPa after 7 days of curing when the mixture of 4% calcium oxide (ratio to 100% plain soil) and 16% blast furnace slag (ratio to 100% plain soil) is mixed. When the three materials were mixed, the unconfined compressive strength of 4% calcium oxide (the ratio of 35% phosphogypsum and 65% plain soil) and 16% blast furnace slag (the ratio of 35% phosphogypsum and 65% plain soil) reached 1.670 MPa and 3.107 MPa at 7 and 28 days, respectively. The curing age has a significant promoting effect on the stability of loess. The dry and wet cycle test results conclude that the specimens have good durability and stability. The results of microstructure analysis shows that a large number of ettringite and C-S-H gel were formed in the gelling system, which not only makes the original soil more stable, but also acts as a part of filling pores, and the two work together to support the soil and improve the strength. Theoretically, glass can be recycled entirely, but there are several requirements for remanufacturing. For the first time, this work studied industrial bottle waste glass (WG), which cannot be used to remanufacture new glass as a cement replacement for concrete applications. Wet and dry milling treatments were performed to reduce the particle size of WG and remove fibre and plastic contaminants. The different waste glasses treated were characterised by chemical, physical, and morphological analysis. Afterwards, mortar-level studies followed, using raw WG and wet-milled WG (AGWG) as a 10% Portland cement replacement. Mechanical and several durability indicators were assessed. WG and AGWG incorporation improved mortar performance against water capillary absorption, chloride ingress, and alkali–silica reaction. The unfavourable effect, namely, mechanical strength loss on glass-modified mortars, was mainly due to fibre contaminants observed by SEM on WG and AGWG samples. Even though wet milling reduced the amount and length of the fibre contaminants, it still did not guarantee adequate mechanical strength for the mortar. For decades, experts have paid considerable scientific and technological attention to the possibility of recycling waste that has reached nature as a result of mining activities related to natural stone, extracting metal or using foreign matter to recover natural environments. Several authors have shown that many of these types of waste can be vitrified or synthesised with an appropriately designed composition, not just to decrease their size but (as is more interesting from a financial point of view) to produce a wide range of glassy and/or ceramic materials that can have uses in industry and, crucially, in the construction sector (building and public works). In this paper, we conduct a comprehensive analysis of the state of the art, defining the different types of materials and their uses in order to decisively contribute to the circular economy and the zero-waste approach. In light of the urgent need to develop environmentally friendly materials that, at some point, will allow the reduction of concrete and, consequently, cement consumption—while at the same time allowing the reuse of waste and industrial by-products—alkali-activated fly ash (AAFA) geopolymer composite emerges as a material of great interest. The aim of this study was to investigate the physico-mechanical performance of composites based on AAFA binders and the effect of different types of aggregates on these properties. The experimental results indicate variations in flexural and compressive strength, which are influenced both by the nature and particle size distribution of aggregates and the binder-to-aggregate ratio. The analysis of the samples highlighted changes in porosity, both in distribution and pore size, depending on the nature of the aggregates. With the development of coal chemical technology, a large amount of gasification slag and wastewater are produced through coal gasification. Efficient gasification slag utilization and wastewater treatment have attracted much attention. In this study, gasification slag was modified and used as a low-cost and efficient catalyst to activate persulfate for acetaminophen degradation. Via the analysis of high-resolution X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, the surfaces of nitric acid and calcined modified gasification slag retained a considerable number of carbonyl and graphite N functional groups. These proved to be effective active sites for the activation of persulfate. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the gasification slag was composed of carbon and SiO2. The evaluation of catalytic activity and application of density functional theory proved that the interaction between carbonyl and graphitic nitrogen significantly affected the catalyst activity. When the ratio of graphitic nitrogen to carbonyl was 1:3, the adsorption and activation of persulfate were significantly enhanced. The results of the quenching experiments also confirmed that the non-free radical pathway is the main pathway to activate persulfate using the gasification slag. Sustainable mechanisms for efficient and circular metal recycling have yet to be uncovered. In this study, the metal recycling potential of seven metal-resistant bacterial species (Deinococcus radiodurans, Deinococcus aerius, Bacillus coagulans, Pseudomonas putida, Staphylococcus rimosus, Streptomyces xylosus and Acidocella aluminiidurans) was investigated in a multi-step strategy, which comprises bioleaching of industrial waste products and subsequent biosorption/bioaccumulation studies. Each species was subjected to an acidic, multi-metal bioleachate solution and screened for potential experimental implementation. Bacterial growth and metal acquisition were examined using scanning transmission electron microscopy coupled to electron dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (STEM-EDS). Two of the seven screened species, D. aerius and A. aluminiidurans, propagated in a highly acidic and metal-laden environment. Both accumulated iron and copper compounds during cultivation on a multi-metallic bioleachate. Our findings suggest that extremotolerant bacteria should be considered for waste recycling operations due to their inherent polyextremophily. Furthermore, STEM-EDS is a promising tool to investigate microbial–metal interactions in the frames of native industrial waste products. To develop further experimental steps, detailed analyses of adsorption/accumulation mechanisms in D. aerius and A. aluminiidurans are required to design a circular metal recycling procedure. This research analyses how different cement mortars behave in terms of their physical and mechanical properties. Several components were necessary to make seven mixes of mortars, such as Portland cement, standard sand, and solid waste from a factory of sodium silicate, in addition to graphene oxide. Furthermore, graphene oxide (GO) was selected to reduce the micropores and increase the nanopores in the cement mortar. Hence, some tests were carried out to determine their density, humidity content, water absorption capacity, open void porosity, the alkali–silica reaction, as well as flexural and mechanical strength and acid resistance. Thus, standard-sand-manufactured mortars' mechanical properties were proved to be slightly better than those manufactured with recycled waste; the mortars with this recycled aggregate presented problems of alkali–silica reaction. In order to raise the utilization rate of industrial waste and mitigate issues involving land resource occupation and environmental damage, in this study, industrial-waste-based artificial aggregates (IWAAs) were fabricated using steel slag powders, fly ash, and cement. They were processed under accelerated carbonation and were utilized in a bitumen mixture. During the experiment, the micromorphology, internal structure, and phase composition of IWAAs before and after accelerated carbonation were characterized using X-ray phase analysis, thermal analysis, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM); concurrently, the possibility of IWAAs being used as a partial substitute for natural aggregate to prepare bituminous mixture was qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed based on Marshall's design procedure in combination with road performance tests and microcosmic analyses. The results indicated that the presence of carbonate crystals brought about by accelerated carbonation was the main phase composition inside the IWAAs, enhancing the microstructure densification and diminishing the immersion expansion and crushing values; this is due to the depletion of the interior Ca-based (e.g., f-CaO and Portlandite) and Mg-based (e.g., periclase and brucite) compounds together with the formation of cement hydration products. Additionally, the 12 h carbonation time obtained the optimum CO2-sequestration efficiency on the premise of satisfying the performance standard. The expansion rate and crushing value of the IWAAs decreased by 82.21% and 41.58%, respectively, whilst the anti-rutting properties, the moisture damage resistance, and the skid resistance rose by 31.92%, 5.59%, and 10.00%, respectively, in the IWAAs–bituminous mixture. Resource recovery from wastewater is very important in view of a circular economy approach in the water field. Among the different technologies applied to realize circular economy, an attractive option is the use of nutrient-enriched media that can be utilized as slow-release fertilizers. Zeolites have been re-discovered for their key role in ammonium (NH4+) adsorption from treated wastewater. Although many studies have been carried out to assess the ability of zeolites to adsorb NH4+, only few papers concerning NH4+ desorption from zeolites are available in the literature. Therefore, this study investigated NH4+ desorption from mineralogically different zeolites, before (ZNS and ZNC) and after (ZSS and ZSC) their treatment with sodium chloride. The zeolites differed in mordenite content. The amount of the desorbed NH4+ varied from 78 to 84% of the total NH4+ adsorbed. In particular, the NaCl-treated materials showed the largest desorption (27.6 ± 0.2 mg L−1, and 27.9 ± 0.7 mg L−1, ZSS, and ZSC, respectively) as compared to the untreated zeolites (22.9 ± 0.3 mg L−1, and 24.2 ± 0.3 mg L−1, ZNS, and ZNC, respectively) because of the different affinity of the cations for the zeolite surface. A monomodal pseudo-first-order model best approximated the desorption kinetics, suggesting only one mechanism of NH4+ desorption from zeolites. Such a mechanism is based on the ion exchange between dissolved Na+ and adsorbed NH4+. The desorption kinetics also showed that NH4+ desorbed slower from the NaCl-treated zeolites than the untreated ones. This effect was explained by the different affinity of Na+ and NH4+ for the zeolite surfaces as due to the diverse sizes of the Na+ and NH4+ hydration spheres. By revealing the effect of zeolite mineralogy and surface treatments in the desorption of NH4+, this study can suggest new and effective synthetic strategies for the achievement of cheap new materials to be applied in environmental remediation within a circular economy perspective. In the context of the circular economy and the adoption of one of its business models, namely "resource recovery", this study presents an opportunity to valorize industrial and urban wastes using alkaline activation technology to produce hybrid binders. Several alkali-activated binders were produced using response surface methodology based on a mixture of 45/45/10 clay brick waste, fly ash, and Portland cement. The compressive strength and setting time of each were evaluated. The hybrid cementitious pastes achieved up to 45 MPa after 28 days of setting. Based on the experimental data, two binders were selected as the cementitious matrix for composites, with paper sludge as the lightweight aggregate. Incorporating up to 45% volume of paper sludge allowed extrusion of the materials. The addition of paper sludge reduced the compressive and flexural strength. These results were explained by the decrease in density and the increase in porosity. However, there was an improvement in the thermal properties of the composites; in particular, the thermal conductivity range between 0.35 and 0.49 W/mK. Discharged slag not only occupies a large amount of land for disposal, but also causes serious environmental pollution. The use of alkali-activated slag (AAS) instead of cement as a soil-stabilization agent is beneficial for industrial waste disposal and energy conservation, which complies with the concept of green and low-carbon sustainable development in the construction industry. In this study, the compressive strength, water permeability coefficient, chloride migration coefficient and sulfate resistance of alkali-activated slag-stabilized soil (AASS) were evaluated, and compared with those of cement-stabilized soil (CSS). The hydrated crystalline phases and microscopic pore structures were analyzed by X-ray diffraction, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) tests, respectively. The results indicate that, compared with CSS, AASS exhibits a higher compressive strength, lower water permeability, chloride migration coefficient and better resistance to sulfate attack, with the optimum dosage higher than 10 wt.%. The results of the MIP analysis show that the addition of AAS reduces the porosity by 6.47%. The combined use of soil and AAS proves to be a viable and sustainable method of waste utilization and carbon emission reduction in the construction industry, which provides a practical path towards carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. The utilization of carbon dioxide and combustion products in cost- and energy-efficient technologies is an important element of creating sustainable energy systems, particularly in the transition period towards carbon neutrality and in light of the latest political developments, when solid fuels are still competing for a dominant role in securing energy supplies. Within the study presented, bituminous coal-derived fluidized bed fly ash samples of high calcium content, treated using a dry carbonation method under ambient conditions, were tested in terms of their specific properties to determine their usability in the preparation of injection mixtures for the filling of voids after shallow mining activities and other selected geo-engineering techniques. The study goes beyond the existing literature in terms of the carbonation method used, alkaline earth metal source, scale of the experiment, process conditions employed and product application studied. The results showed that the bituminous coal-derived fluidized bed fly ash, carbonated using the direct method adopted, may be successfully employed as the main solid component (over 82% w/w) of the injection mixtures for filling voids after shallow mining activities. The achievable compressive strength of a few MPa makes these materials applicable also in terms of ground strengthening in case it is required in light of the expected land development options to be employed. All principal materials used in the injection mixtures developed (carbonated fluidized bed fly ash, carbon dioxide, bottom ash) are industrial waste, and the carbonation method employed is simple and performed under ambient conditions, which reduces the required energy and cost input of filling mixture production, avoids the surface waste storage requirements, and contributes to the development of low energy-intensive carbon dioxide utilization and solid waste valorization methods. This article presents the complex processing of low-grade and substandard chromium ores, as well as sludge tailings, with the production of composite chromium-containing materials and pigments, while improving environmental performance in the Republic of Kazakhstan through the utilization and processing of technogenic raw materials. In this work, to study the physicochemical properties of the starting materials, modern analytical, thermodynamic, chemical, granulometric, as well as computational, mathematical, laboratory, and experimental methods were used. In particular, studies of a method for producing composite pellets for chromite pigments based on industrial technogenic waste of the Republic of Kazakhstan are presented. Based on the results of the experimental studies, composite pellets were obtained, having a compressive strength of 150–220 kg/pellet and containing 49.7% of chromium oxide and 0.5–1.0% of carbon in its composition. The resulting chromite pigment based on the composite pellets is a modification of chromium oxohydroxide with the formula γ-CrOOH. The density of the resulting pigment is 3.4 kg/m3. The chromite pigment based on the composite pellets is recommended for use in various coloring compositions, including using it for printing on cotton and mixed fabrics intended for sewing outerwear. In recent years, the reuse of industrial waste has become increasingly important for sustainable development. Therefore, this study investigated the application of granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) as a cementitious replacement material in fly-ash-based geopolymer mortar containing silica fume (GMS). The performance changes in the GMS samples manufactured with different GBFS ratios (0–50 wt%) and alkaline activators were evaluated. The results indicated that GBFS replacement from 0 wt% to 50 wt% significantly affects GMS performance, including improving the bulk density from 2235 kg/m3 to 2324 kg/m3, flexural-compressive strength from 5.83 MPa to 7.29 MPa and 63.5 MPa to 80.2 MPa, respectively; a decrease in water absorption and chloride penetration, and an improvement in the corrosion resistance of GMS samples. The GMS mixture containing 50 wt% GBFS demonstrated the best performances with notable results regarding strength and durability. Owing to the increased production of C-S-H gel, the microstructure of the GMS sample containing more GBFS was denser, as obtained via the scanning electron micrograph analysis results. Incorporating the three industrial by-products into geopolymer mortars was verified when all samples were determined to be in accordance with the relevant Vietnamese standards. Prolonged development of ore deposits, ore beneficiation and metallurgical smelting of concentrates result in the accumulation of wastes, forming large-scale dumps and sludge ponds negatively affecting the environment and human health. The creation and introduction of industrial waste treatment technologies will make it possible to dispose of them with the production of valuable commercial products and improve the environmental situation. In a research article on chemical beneficiation with the subsequent gravitational beneficiation of chrome-containing slurry tailings of Donskoy Ore-Mining and Beneficiation Plant (DOMBP), which processes chrome ore of the Kempirsay deposit in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aktobe region, having considerable stocks of such waste is presented. The chromium-containing slurry tailings were heat-treated at 1100 °C, sintered with ammonium sulfate, water and sulfuric acid in a defined ratio at 300 °C, and then the resulting sinter was leached with water at 90 °C. The cake was washed to separate the liquid part from the solid part. The solid precipitate is the chromium-containing cake, which is upgraded by gravity concentration to a grade concentrate for ferroalloy production. When the solution is evaporated, magnesium sulfate with ammonium sulfate forms the Tutton's salt ammoshenite. High-throughput chromium oxide extraction of 93.9% was achieved as a result of the research, and three products were obtained: (1) standard chromium concentrate with 49.48% Cr2O3 content, (2) ammoshenite used as a nitrogen–magnesium fertilizer and (3) forsterite, which is concentrated in gravity concentration tailings and can be used in the production of refractory minerals. In this article, we propose the endothermic screen model. The aim is to reduce the problems of the high temperature and low utilization of waste heat in industrial plants with high radiant heat. In this paper, the Rhino software is used to establish the model and import it into the FLUENT software, divide the mesh, set the boundary conditions and analyze the transient temperature field. Finally, the temperature change law in the plant and the waste heat recovery efficiency of the endothermic screen are obtained. The flow of cooling water in the endothermic screen is used to transform and transfer the high-radiation heat inside the plant to the outside. The simulation results show that after adding the endothermic screen, the average indoor temperature drops from 313.33 K to 305.66 K, which has a cooling effect. The waste heat recovery efficiency reaches up to 56%, and the waste heat recovery effect is obvious. The research results can provide a reference for the application of an endothermic screen in actual high radiant heat plants and provide a more comfortable working environment for the plant workers. It is no secret that graphene, a two-dimensional single-layered carbon atom crystal lattice, has drawn tremendous attention due to its distinct electronic, surface, mechanical, and optoelectronic properties. Graphene also has opened up new possibilities for future systems and devices due to its distinct structure and characteristics which has increased its demand in a variety of applications. However, scaling up graphene production is still a difficult, daunting, and challenging task. Although there is a vast body of literature reported on the synthesis of graphene through conventional and eco-friendly methods, viable processes for mass graphene production are still lacking. This review focuses on the variety of unwanted waste materials, such as biowastes, coal, and industrial wastes, for producing graphene and its potential derivatives. Among the synthetic routes, the main emphasis relies on microwave-assisted production of graphene derivatives. In addition, a detailed analysis of the characterization of graphene-based materials is presented. This paper also highlights the current advances and applications through the recycling of waste-derived graphene materials using microwave-assisted technology. Today, the emphasis is on environmentally friendly materials. Alkali lignin and spruce sawdust are suitable natural alternatives for removing dyes from wastewater. The main reason for using alkaline lignin as a sorbent is the recovery of waste black liquor from the paper industry. This work deals with removing dyes from wastewater using spruce sawdust and lignin at two different temperatures. The decolorization yields were calculated as the final values. Increasing the temperature during adsorption leads to higher decolorization yields, which may be due to the fact that some substances react only at elevated temperatures. Because of the increasing demand for photovoltaic energy and the generation of end-of-life photovoltaic waste forecast, the feasibility to produce glass substrates for photovoltaic application by recycling photovoltaic glass waste (PVWG) material was analyzed. PVWG was recovered from photovoltaic house roof panels for developing windows glass substrates; PVWG was used as the main material mixed with other industrial waste materials (wSG). The glass was casted by air quenching, annealed, and polished to obtain transparent substrates samples. Fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) was deposited as back contact on the glass substrates by spray pyrolysis. The chemical composition of the glass materials was evaluated by X-ray fluorescence (XRF), the thermal stability was measured by differential thermal analysis (DTA) and the transmittance was determined by UV-VIS spectroscopy. The surface of the glass substrates and the deposited FTO were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the amorphous or crystalline state of the specimens were determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and the sheet resistance was evaluated by the four-point probe method. The sheet resistance of the deposited FTO on the wSG substrate was 7.84 ± 3.11 Ω/□, lower than that deposited on commercial soda-lime glass (8.48 ± 3.67 Ω/□), meaning that this material could present improved conduction of the produced electrons by the photovoltaic effect. This process may represent an alternative to produce glass substrates from waste materials that could be destined for photovoltaic applications, especially the production of ecological photovoltaic windows. Based on the hypothesis that the fabrication of dental models using fused deposition modeling and poly-lactic acid (PLA), followed by recycling and reusing, would reduce industrial waste, we aimed to compare the accuracies of virgin and recycled PLA models. The PLA models were recycled using a crusher and a filament-manufacturing machine. Virgin PLA was labeled R, and the first, second, and third recycles were labeled R1, R2, and R3, respectively. To determine the accuracies of the virgin and reused PLA models, identical provisional crowns were fitted, and marginal fits were obtained using micro-computed tomography. A marginal fit of 120 µm was deemed acceptable based on previous literature. The mesial, distal, buccal, and palatal centers were set at M, D, B, and P, respectively. The mean value of each measurement point was considered as the result. When comparing the accuracies of R and R1, R2, and R3, significant differences were noted between R and R3 at B, R and R2, R3 at P, and R and R3 at D (p < 0.05). In recent years, under the background of global low-carbon development, the production of NdFeB magnets has increased dramatically. With the end of magnet life, a large number of discarded products will be produced in the future. At the same time, 6–73% of industrial waste will be produced in the manufacturing process of magnets. The rare earth content (about 30 wt.%) of these magnet scraps is generally higher than that of raw ore, and the recovery of rare earth elements from them helps to stabilize the global rare earth supply chain. In addition, NdFeB scrap contains about 70 wt.% of iron, which is currently unable to be utilized with high added value. If iron can be recycled based on recycling rare earth elements, it is expected to realize the full component recycling of NdFeB waste and reduce the full life cycle environmental load of NdFeB products. This paper summarizes the properties, recycling potential, and existing recycling technologies of NdFeB waste, and it summarizes the principles, advantages, and disadvantages of various recycling methods, such as direct reuse, pyrometallurgy, hydrometallurgy, and electrochemistry. Among them, the electrochemical recovery method was emphatically reviewed as a newly proposed method. On this basis, the future development direction of NdFeB waste recycling has been prospected, and the research idea of avoiding the shortcomings of various recycling methods through the combined process is proposed. Resource-dependent countries and economies are found to be particularly sensitive to global shocks. A unifying parallel is drawn between resource-dependent countries and regions with depleted mineral resources. The objective factors of losses of accessed reserves are analyzed. A unifying parallel is drawn between sub-standard ores and industrial waste. The paper proposes shifting geotechnology development from simple mineral extraction towards technologies that provide a full cycle of geo-resources development. A radical way of ensuring a full cycle of geo-resources development is the involvement of sub-standard ores and industrial waste in a closed processing cycle. The utilization of industrial waste without a valuable component extracting or reducing a harmful component to a background value is palliative. A comparative description of various technologies that allow extracting valuable components from sub-standard ores and industrial waste is made. The paper proposes a variant of chemical–physical technology that makes it possible to extract a valuable component from industrial waste to a minimum value. The activation of industrial waste with a disintegrator before a chemical extraction significantly increases the yield of a valuable component from 2.6 to 218.5%. A differentiated approach is needed regarding the choice of leaching solution, its percentage, as well as the leaching method and the need for activation processing of valuable components and industrial ones. The combined highly efficient physical–chemical and physical–technical technologies will ensure the maximum extraction of the valuable component from 52.6 to 98.8% in the full cycle of natural and industrial geo-resources development. The search for alternative means of energy production has become an important task for applied sciences and modern technology. Hydrogen technology has great potential as a source of clean energy. In response to the demand for environmentally friendly and economically feasible approaches, biohydrogen production from waste materials has recently attracted interest. Waste materials from industrial or municipal production can be used as low-cost substrates for biohydrogen production through microbial degradation. Green energy needs could be met through a form of sustainable development that moves hand in hand with the harnessing of the microbial potential of waste biomass. It is found that regions with depleted, or on the verge of depletion, of mineral resources are subject to additional pressures due to intensifying social and environmental problems. This paper proposes the development of the mining industry, reducing the dependence of the economy on the sharp volatility of the raw materials market in a period of global shocks by addressing social and environmental problems in regions with a depleting mineral resource base. It is assumed that the geotechnology development from simple mineral extraction to technologies providing a full cycle of georesources development with industrial waste recycling contributes to the resource provision of sustainable development. The material and mineralogical composition of the four tailing dumps (Uchalinskiy, Buribayskiy, Sibayskiy and Gaiskiy Ore-Processing plants have been studied) united with the similarity of the processed raw materials, and as a consequence, the similar enrichment technology has been studied and established. An approximate estimate of valuable components left in industrial wastes was made. The possibility of valuable component extraction (e.g., gold) from tailings using double agitation cyanidation was substantiated. There is no necessity of obligatory grinding of tailings to increase the recovery rate of valuable components. It was experimentally determined that the extraction of gold from tailings is 75.9–82.14% and depends on the investigated technogenic raw material. It has been proved that industrial waste can be recycled for the purpose of the resource provision of sustainable development. The need for further, more detailed studies of industrial formations has been identified. Nowadays, the environmental impact of plastic waste is crucial, and in the energy industry, fly ash, a type of solid waste, has also prompted severe ecological and safety concerns. In this study, we synthesised composite material from two industrial wastes: recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) as the matrix and fly ash as the filler. The effect of different fly ash loadings on the thermal behaviour and microstructure of the composite material using rPET were evaluated. Various loading amounts of fly ash, up to 68%, were added in the rPET mixtures, and composites were made using a single-threaded bar's barrel extruder. The feeding zone, compression zone, and metering zone made up the three functional areas of the extruder machine with a single-flighted, stepped compression screw. The composite materials were subjected to DSC and SEM equipped with EDX spectroscopy tests to examine their thermal behaviour and microstructural development. It was found that the thermal behaviour of rPET improved with the addition of fly ash but degraded as the fly ash loading increased to 68%, as confirmed by the DSC study. The composites' microstructural development revealed an even filler distribution within the polymer matrix. However, when the fly ash loading increased, voids and agglomeration accumulated, affecting the composites' thermal behaviour. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Solid Refuse Fuel (SRF) manufacturing facilities process 4.72 million tons of waste annually. The residues generated after manufacturing SRF products account for 35–40% of the input waste, and most of them are finally disposed of in landfills. The process flow and management status of SRF manufacturing facilities were investigated, and the residues generated from SRF manufacturing facilities using municipaland industrial waste, respectively, were separated by particle size. The appropriate separation conditions for the residues according to the characteristics of the input raw materials were presented through the analysis of loss on ignition (LOI), organic foreign substance content, heating value, and carbon content. Based on this, the appropriate management criteria (draft) for the subsequent treatment of final residues were derived to improve recyclability. Residues generated in the SRF manufacturing process need to be additionally separated into combustibles and incombustibles through cylindrical rotary separating devices before subsequent the final disposal process. The performance of iron-rich calcium sulfoaluminate (IR-CSA) cement is greatly affected by mineral composition and mineral activity in the clinker. This study aims to identify the effect of CaO sources, either CaCO3 or CaSO4, on the phase formation and mineral composition of the IR-CSA clinker. Targeted samples were prepared with different proportions of CaCO3 and CaSO4 as CaO sources at 1300 °C for 45 min. Multiple methods were used to identify the mineralogical conditions. The results indicate that the mineral composition and performance of the IR-CSA clinker could be optimized by adjusting the CaO source. Both Al2O3 and Fe2O3 tend to incorporate into C4A3−xFx S ¯ with an increase in CaSO4 as a CaO source, which leads to an increased content of C4A3−xFx S ¯ but a decreased ferrite phase. In addition, clinkers prepared with CaSO4 as a CaO source showed much higher x value in C4A3−xFx S ¯ and higher compressive strength than clinker prepared with CaCO3 as the sole CaO source. The crystal types of both C4A3−xFx S ¯ and C2S were also affected, but showed different trends with the transition of the CaO source. Removing organic dyes from contaminated wastewater resulting from industrial effluents with a cost-effective approach addresses a major global challenge. The adsorption technique onto carbon-based materials and metal oxide is one of the most effective dye removal procedures. The current work aimed to evaluate the application of calcium oxide-doped carbon nitride nanostructures (CaO-g-C3N4) to eliminate basic fuchsine dyes (BF) from wastewater. CaO-g-C3N4 nanosorbent were obtained via ultrasonication and characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, TEM, and BET. The TEM analysis reveals 2D nanosheet-like nanoparticle architectures with a high specific surface area (37.31 m2/g) for the as-fabricated CaO-g-C3N4 nanosorbent. The adsorption results demonstrated that the variation of the dye concentration impacted the elimination of BF by CaO-C3N4 while no effect of pH on the removal of BF was observed. Freundlich isotherm and Pseudo-First-order adsorption kinetics models best fitted BF adsorption onto CaO-g-C3N4. The highest adsorption capacity of CaO-g-C3N4 for BF was determined to be 813 mg. g−1. The adsorption mechanism of BF is related to the π-π stacking bridging and hydrogen bond, as demonstrated by the FTIR study. CaO-g-C3N4 nanostructures may be easily recovered from solution and were effectively employed for BF elimination in at least four continuous cycles. Incessant generation and mismanagement of industrial waste, resource scarcity, and environmental degradation have created non-sustainability in human life. Though industrial wastes are hazardous or non-hazardous in nature based on their source, open dumping disposal is commonly done for both types of waste. The adversity associated with waste enhances the environmental and health impacts. However, this waste has the potential to recycle and minimize resource scarcity. The circular economy works on the concept of reuse, recycling, and recovery to convert waste into a resource. Thus, industrial waste can benefit the environment and economic growth to build industrial ecology. However, the opportunities and challenges associated with industrial ecology for the reuse and recycling of waste have to be identified and preserved. Therefore, this study has identified challenges associated with waste, analyzed their impact, and industrial regulations, prioritized their criticality, and developed solution strategies to alleviate them. Two case studies on industrial byproducts, i.e., fly ash and red mud, based on different income groups are discussed in this study. A product is characterized by low environmental impact if, during the whole process (from extraction of raw materials from solid natural matter to disposal), its negative contribution to environment modification is significantly reduced or eliminated. According to circular economy, it is important to take into consideration other aspects, such as the possibility to improve the efficiency of extraction process by modifying the principle on which it is based and allowing the recovery of not completely exhausted waste, obtaining other active ingredients, and favoring the recycling of normally eliminated materials. The purpose of this work was to propose more efficient and greener alternatives to conventional solid–liquid extraction processes. Major features are the rapidity of the process, extraction at room temperature and high yields. Rapid Solid–Liquid Dynamic Extraction (RSLDE) represents an innovative solid–liquid extraction technology that allows the solid matrices containing extractable substances in an organic or inorganic solvent and their mixtures to be exhausted in shorter time than current techniques. The principle at the basis of this novel process consists of the generation of a negative pressure gradient between the inside and the outside of the solid matrix, which induces the extraction of compounds not chemically linked to the solid matter, being insoluble in the extractant liquid. The influence of recycled fine aggregate content on the properties of soft soil solidified by industrial waste residue was systematically studied. First, the addition of recycled fine aggregate may provide skeleton support, which was conducive to improving the solidification properties. Comparing the addition of recycled fine aggregate content and a composite solidification agent separately, the compressive strength increased 48.01 times and 1.32 times, respectively. Second, the composition and quantity of the hydration products were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermal gravity analysis (TG/DTG). In addition to silicon dioxide and aluminum oxide, a number of new minerals, including hydrated calcium silicate, calcium hydroxide and ettringite, were produced under different recycled fine aggregate contents. The diffraction peak of hydrated calcium hydroxide was weak, which indicated that the crystallinity and relative content was low. The main reason for this was that it was consumed as the activator of the secondary hydration reaction of blast furnace slag. With the increase in recycled fine aggregate content, the total weight loss (hydration products, crystal water, impurities) increased significantly, at rates of 6.9%, 7.0%, 7.2%, 8.8% and 9.7%. The addition of recycled fine aggregate does not change the composition and quantity of the hydration products, and the increased weight loss in this part might be caused by the cement paste attached to the surface of the recycled fine aggregate. Finally, their microstructure was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Larger and more pores appeared in the solidification system with the increase in recycled fine aggregate, and a large amount of ettringite was prepared. An excess in recycled fine aggregate caused more pores, and the negative impact of too many pores exceeded the lifting effect of the aggregate, resulting in the decline of its mechanical properties. Therefore, there was a suitable range for the use of recycled fine aggregate, which was not more than 40%. In conclusion, recycled fine aggregate not only acts as a skeleton to improve solidification strength, but could also realize the comprehensive utilization of waste, which provided a new scheme for solid waste utilization and soft soil solidification. Magnesium oxychloride cement (MOC), a type of special construction material, has drawn much research attention in solid waste utilization and environmental protection due to its eco-friendly production. Ammonia soda residue (ASR), a by-product generated from sodium carbonate manufacturing, is one of the industrial wastes that can be recycled in MOC systems. However, ASR exhibits adverse effects on the fresh performance and volume stability of MOC pastes. This paper aims at improving the properties of ASR-MOC by introducing fly ash (FA), solid waste from the power industry. Firstly, the roles of FA in MOC pastes are evaluated and analyzed. Then, three substitution ratios of FA (33.3%, 50% and 66.7% in weight) for ASR are designed for MOC pastes with 10% to 40% industrial wastes. Flowability, setting, strength and expansion of all mixtures were experimentally studied. Furthermore, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) approaches were adopted to illustrate the microstructure changes. Results show that by adding different amounts of FA, the inferior flowability of MOC caused by ASR can be improved by 6–23%, the setting process can be prolonged by 30–55% and the expansion ratio can be reduced by 14–66%. The intensity of characteristic peaks of 5-phase and Mg(OH)2, together with the degrees of crystallization in XRD curves, well explain the strength variation and volume stability of ASR-MOC pastes. According to the regulation of relative specification, up to 20% of solid wastes in weight (10% FA + 10% ASR) can be consumed, contributing greatly to the greener sustainable development of construction materials. A large amount of waste dust will be produced in the process of metal grinding, resulting in a waste of resources and environmental pollution. Therefore, we present a new method of inerting waste aluminum (Al) alloy dust for recycling purposes. Three natural high polymers—starch, pectin, and hydroxypropyl cellulose—were selected to inert waste metal dust in order to prevent the alloy from hydrolyzing and keep the dust pure enough for reuse. The particles of the Al base alloy before and after dust reaction were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transform infra-red (FTIR), and the relevant reaction mechanism was clarified. The hydrogen evolution test indicated that, across the temperature interval of 313–333 K, 0.75 wt% pectin inerted hydrogen evolution most efficiently (90.125%). XRD analysis indicated that the inerted product is composed of Al monomer and Al3Mg2, with no detectable content of Al hydroxide. The purity of the Al alloy dust was preserved. SEM and FTIR analyses indicated that the -OH, -COOH, and -COOCH3 functional groups in the high polymer participated in the coordination reaction by adsorbing on the surface of the waste Al alloy particles to produce a protective film, which conforms to Langmuir's adsorption model. Verification of the inerted Al alloy dust in industrial production confirmed the possibility of reusing waste Al alloy dust. Few prior studies have examined the social and environmental consequences of waste generation and recycling, resulting in a policy gap in the sustainability agenda. The research filled a knowledge vacuum in the literature by investigating the environmental repercussions of different waste generation and recycling processes in the Chinese economy. The study analyzed waste production and recycling statistics over the last 46 years, from 1975 to 2020, and their impact on the nation's emissions per capita. This study used four primary approaches to determine the links between the examined variables, beginning with the unit root test, which identifies the stationary process of the variables' underlying processes. Second, the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model was used to produce the variables' short- and long-run estimates. Third, estimations of Granger causality examined the causal relationships between the variables. Finally, innovation accounting matrices (IAM)were utilized to predict the relationships between variables during the following decade. The unit root estimates imply the mix order of variable integration; hence, it is appropriate to employ ARDL modeling for parameter estimations. The ARDL estimations demonstrate that combustible renewables and waste decrease a nation's carbon emissions by boosting industrial waste recycling. Despite recycling systems, carbon emissions have escalated to uncontrolled levels owing to the massive production of municipal solid garbage. Sustainable waste management and recycling are vital to reducing carbon emissions. Granger's estimations of causation imply that combustible renewables and waste and carbon emissions cause industrial and municipal solid waste recycling. Additionally, population growth is responsible for greenhouse gas emissions, biowaste recycling, and industrial waste recycling. Furthermore, this shows the two-way connections between combustible renewables and waste and carbon emissions, implying the need to develop green waste recycling strategies in a nation. The IAM method identified future relationships between variables, which aids policymakers in implementing sustainable waste management practices for a nation. This study concludes that the environmental consequences of waste generation and recycling impede the nation's circular economy agenda, which can be sustained by knowledge spillovers, chemical reduction in manufacturing, and allocating a certain amount of US dollars to ecological resource conservation. Nowadays, the re-use and recycling of industrial wastes to reduce the environmental impact and landfill problems are the main concerns of researchers. Plastics are one of the main waste materials worldwide, with considerable impacts on health and environmental conditions. Recycling plastic wastes in the concrete industry is one of the adopted ways to reduce such impact and increase the economic recyclability of plastics. In this study, the utilization of recycled polypropylene (rPP) as a fine aggregate in the preparation of cement mortars was evaluated. The river sand was replaced with 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50%, volumes of rPP. The results showed that the inclusion of rPP reduced the mortar's workability and fresh density. Fresh density dropped from 11% to 35% as the rPP content increased. Furthermore, the compressive strength at early and late age was significantly influenced by the rPP content. At 28 days of curing age, the results showed that the inclusion of 50% of rPP in the mortar matrix led to a drop in the compression strength from 40 MPa to 10 MPa. A similar trend of results was obtained for the flexural (from 8.3 MPa to 2.9 MPa) and tensile strengths (from 3.4 MPa to 1.21 MPa). The chloride ion penetration went through a maximum of 5000 Coulombs between 10% and 50 % of rPP. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of 10% of rPP as a river sand replacement can achieve acceptable strength (25 MPa) for several applications in the construction industry. A significant amount of bioactive compound-rich solid waste is released during the industrial phycocolloid-centric extraction of Gelidium sesquipedale. The impact of mild pressurized hot water extraction on repurposing this waste for the recovery of agar with an adjustable gel texture is investigated. A two-factor interaction response surface model assessed the influences of the operating temperatures (80 to 130 °C), times (45 and 150 min), pressures (1 to 70 bar), and algae concentrations (3 to 10% (w:v)). At a temperature of 100 °C, a pressure of 10.13 bar, a recovery time of 45 min, and a 10% algae concentration, the working parameters were considered ideal (w:v). Agar with a hardness of 431.6 g, an adhesiveness of −13.14 g.s−1, a springiness of 0.94, a cohesiveness of 0.63, and a gumminess of 274.46 g was produced under these conditions. A combined desirability of 0.78 was obtained for the exposed technology that retrieved gels with a minimum agar yield of 10% and thermal hysteresis between 39 ± 1 and 52 ± 0.5 °C.
