A probable transient ischemic attack in a 45-year-old woman revealed bilateral atrial myxoma associated with lentiginosis. The patient's 20-year-old son had isolated lentiginosis. The characteristics of this autosomal dominant syndrome are reviewed.

Occlusion of the middle cerebral artery in a 16-year old woman revealed a left atrial myxoma associated with a mucocutaneous lentiginosis. Two-dimensional transthoracic or transesophageal echocardiography should be performed in all patients with stroke and lentiginosis to look for cardiac myxoma. After treatment of the cardiac tumor, echocardiography should be repeated at regular intervals to detect a recurrence of the myxoma. As this cardio-cutaneous syndrome is a familial disorder with autosomal dominant inheritance, examination of all family members by echocardiography is recommended.

The first case of benign lentigo of the uterine cervix is reported, providing further evidence that the cervix is able to form the entire spectrum of melanocytic lesions known to occur in the skin. Review of the literature reveals 19 cases of primary malignant melanoma of the cervix and 30 cases of blue nevus. The reported case offers support that benign lentigines may play a role as premalignant lesions of malignant melanoma not only in the skin, but aldo in mucous membranes.

The authors present the results of an investigation on 39 cases of centrofacial lentiginosis. Eleven patients urged to be examined because of their alarming health condition, and 28 cases were found out following an inquiry within some collectivities. With centrofacial lentiginosis the cutaneous hereditary polydysplasia (characterized by typical lentigines), the dysraphic state and neuro-psychic troubles are usual and awaken the interest of the radiologist due to the frequency of various dysmorphoses, growth disturbances and a trend for arthrosis. The radiologist has to pay a due attention to these aspects representing as many manifestations of a disease of a hereditary-family type since a possible centrofacial lentiginosis also means a possible disabling potential associated with education and vocational training problems.

Abnormalities of skin pigmentation are known to be associated sometimes with cardiovascular diseases. Such cases have been reported first in 1954 (14), then in 1962 (16) and 1966 (11), leading to the individualization of the leopard syndrome. In 1973 Rees et al. (21) described a lentiginosis, cardiac myxoma association, and this in turn resulted, in 1985, in a new syndrome (4) supported by several similar findings. We report here a new case with this association.
