The study attempts to evaluate the efficacy and safety of endobronchial valves as a form of treatment for patients with advanced emphysema. The results indicate that such a form of treatment did result in modest improvements in lung function; however, also resulted in more frequent chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia and hemoptysis following implantation.
