Abstract

A retrospective, comparative study of 107 medical records from a metropolitan hospital and a frontier hospital was conducted. The review focused on those who received treatment from an infectious disease specialist as inpatients (metropolitan) versus those who received treatment through telehealth (frontier). Patients treated via telehealth had fewer days of antibiotics and fewer days of hospitalization. In addition, fewer inpatients from the frontier hospital required transport to the larger metropolitan setting. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
