This article considers the common endoparasites and ectoparasites of the goat, and some of the problems the clinician may have in treating and preventing them. In simple terms goats are susceptible to nematodes, liver fluke and protozoa, and also to lice and mange mites. Many of the species involved are shared parasites with other ruminants -- thus any control programme particularly for endoparasites must take this into account if goats are kept in paddocks grazed at some stage by for example sheep and cattle.
