The article focuses on the case of a seventy-nine-year-old man who experienced fever and chills which he had had in eight days. His physical examination revealed a pulsatile abdominal mass, as well as low back pain which limits his spinal flexibility. Aortography and abdominal computed tomography were performed. The histopathological analysis of the aorta revealed acute inflammation with polymorphonuclear cell infiltration. After a surgery was performed, the patient had a nosocomial pneumonia, and required treatment in the intensive care unit for three weeks.
