Objective: The aim of the study was to examine the relationship between role stress, emotional exhaustion, and a supportive coworker climate among health care workers, by adopting a multilevel perspective., Methods: Aggregated data of 738 health care workers nested within 67 teams of three Italian hospitals were collected. Multilevel regression analysis with a random intercept model was used., Results: Hierarchical linear modeling showed that a lack of role clarity was significantly linked to emotional exhaustion at the individual level. At the unit level, the cross-level interaction revealed that a supportive coworker climate moderated the relationship between lack of role clarity and emotional exhaustion., Conclusion: This study supports previous results of single-level burnout studies, extending the existing literature with evidence on the multidimensional and cross-level interaction associations of a supportive coworker climate as a key aspect of job resources on burnout.

The aim of the study was to compare postmortem computed tomographic (CT) imaging findings from a case of hanging with the autopsy findings. The CT showed a good match with autopsy findings especially for bone, soft tissue, and spinal injuries. The CT images of the injuries of the neck obtained by CT scan clearly showed the ligature mark, the hemorrhagic suffusion in the soft tissue (thickening of derma) and in the muscles (sternocleidomastoid) of the neck. Furthermore, CT 3-dimensional reconstruction showed brain edema, fracture of the left posterior horn of the hyoid bone, and a grade 1 retrolisthesis of C5 on C6. This last finding was not detected by autopsy because of the anterior approach that is frequently used in necropsy technique. Nevertheless, the CT virtual autopsy did not show vascular findings (like Amussat mark) because a barium mixture was not injected in the body.

The aim of this work was to investigate, through histological evaluation, the in vivo behavior of fresh frozen bone (FFB) used as particulate bone substitute in intraoral regenerative procedures. A total of 10 patients (group 1) received particulate FFB graft for bone regeneration in postextractive sockets, and 10 (group 2) underwent maxillary sinus augmentation by using the same bone substitute as filling. Fresh frozen bone was supplied from the Tissue Bank of the Veneto Region, Treviso Section.Healing was uneventful for all the patients and was monitored by periodical radiographs. Patients were scheduled for implant insertion according to the radiographic aspect. However, the mean healing time for group 1 was 45 days, whereas for group 2 patients, it was 100 days. At the moment of implant insertion, bone specimens were collected at the site of implant placement, from both groups and processed for histological analysis.Histological analysis after hematoxylin-eosin staining obtained from group 1 patients showed the presence of newly formed bone tissue, still well distinguishable from the grafted bone substitute. In samples from group 2 patients, a better integration could be recognized associated with active bone remodeling phenomena.These results showed a good integration of the considered FFB graft within the host tissue both at 45 and 100 days after grafting, displaying this biomaterial as suitable for preimplant regenerative procedures.

The sudden death of a young person is a devastating event for both the family and community. Over the last decade, significant advances have been made in understanding both the clinical and genetic basis of sudden cardiac death. Many of the causes of sudden death are due to genetic heart disorders, which can lead to both structural (eg, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) and arrhythmogenic abnormalities (eg, familial long QT syndrome, Brugada syndrome). Most commonly, sudden cardiac death can be the first presentation of an underlying heart problem, leaving the family at a loss as to why an otherwise healthy young person has died. Not only is this a tragic event for those involved, but it also presents a great challenge to the forensic pathologist involved in the management of the surviving family members. Evaluation of families requires a multidisciplinary approach, which should include cardiologists, a clinical geneticist, a genetic counselor, and the forensic pathologist directly involved in the sudden death case. This multifaceted cardiac genetic service is crucial in the evaluation and management of the clinical, genetic, psychological, and social complexities observed in families in which there has been a young sudden cardiac death. The present study will address the spectrum of structural substrates of cardiac sudden death with particular emphasis given to the possible role of forensic molecular biology techniques in identifying subtle or even merely functional disorders accounting for electrical instability.
