It is often said that students' effective learning cannot be acquired through classrooms activities alone, they refer to school library information resources to complement what they have been taught. In view of the foregoing, this study examines students' perceived influence of library services in secondary schools in Kwara State, Nigeria. The study population consists of 27,883 students in secondary schools (public and private). Multistage and systematic random sampling techniques were used to select 378 students across the 16 local governments drawn from the three senatorial districts that formed the state. An instrument titled "School Library Questionnaire (SLQ)" was used to collect relevant information from the respondents. Data collected were analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and Partial Least Square (PLS) softwares. Findings of the study revealed that availability of library services positively influenced students' academic success. Findings established factors that hamper provision of library services, which include shortage of relevant materials, lack of facilities (such as internet, desktop computer and printer), lack of chairs and sitting facilities, and inadequate library personnel. The study concludes that library services remain an indispensable services that are needed to improve students' academic ability and that adequate library facilities, such as procurement of current library materials, availability of chairs and tables, desktop computers and internet, should be provided to ensure a comprehensive provision of library services to students and other library users. The focus of this paper is on the effect of library services on the educational development of secondary school students in Abia State, Nigeria. The study investigated the only governmentowned secondary school in Igbere Community of Bende Local Government Area of Abia State. The school was chosen on the basis of availability of school library. Students from Senior Secondary 1 to 3 were the respondents of this investigation. However, a sample size of 99 students out of a total population of 248 students representing 40% of the entire population, were randomly selected. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data. The study investigated the library services provided for the students, the extent of the students' use of the library services, the effects of the library service on the educational development of the students, the challenges facing library services as well as strategies to enhance library services to ensure the educational development of secondary school students. The paper through its findings concludes that libraries are the drivers of educational development through its numerous services. It therefore recommends the establishment of school library with up-to-date information resources and relevant services as a criterion for the approval of any secondary school programme in Abia State and Nigeria among other recommendations. With this, the educational sector of Nigeria stands to benefit immensely and not only that, there will be a reduction in emigration of Nigeria students as well as increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Nigeria. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of library services quality on achievement motivation associated with the learning achievement of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (UNDIKSHA) student. This research is conducted in Undiksha students using ex-post facto method. The sampling is done through random sampling method with 350 students. The data on library services quality and achievement motivation are collected using questionnaire. The data are analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The research results show that a) Library services quality has an influence towards achievement motivation, with probability value of 0.034 (p<0.05), b) Library services quality has no influence towards learning achievement, with probability value of 0.585 (p>0.05), c) Achievement Motivation has an influence towards learning achievement with probability value of 0.026 (p<0.05), d) Achievement motivation fully mediated the effect of library quality towards learning achievement. This study investigated information retrieval tools and library environment as correlates of library utilization by students of Rivers State University, Port Harcourt. Three research questions were posed and two hypotheses were formulated for the study. The study adopted a correlational design. The population of the study consisted of 682 registered undergraduate library users out of which a sample of 227 was drawn using YaroYamene's statistical formula. The instrument used for data collection was researcher-made rating scale. The data collected for the research questions were analysed using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) and hypotheses tested at 0.05 level of significance using t-test. The result revealed that, students make use of the various information resources to a high extent; information retrieval tools are provided in the library to a high extent, there is a very strong and positive relationship between information retrieval tools available and students' use of the library, which is also significant and a strong, positive and significant relationship exist between the library environment and students' use of the library. It was recommended that students should be sensitized more on the use of periodicals and fiction for relaxation; even though the relationship between retrieval tools and use is significant, there is still need for students to be sensitized on how to use the library through adequate orientation on information retrieval tools. Innovative services and practices are the buzzwords in today's libraries. Changes brought about by the electronic environment has impacted on libraries and caused a transformation in services and practices. Consequently, the library of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) has keyed into this paradigm by changing its conventional approach. This article explored various innovative services and practices in FUTO library. It also identified the benefits and extent of innovative services and practices in the library. A descriptive survey was adopted for the study while questionnaire was used as data collection instrument. Findings revealed a remarkable increase in library patronage, library visibility, use of library resources (databases), access to OPAC and supportive staff among others. It was also discovered that the extent of innovative services and practices in the library was high in various areas such as: library visibility (Mean=3.54), library patronage (Mean= 3.45), dependence on the library for research (Mean=3.27), longer hours by patrons (Mean=3.05), more followers on social media (Mean=3.00) etc. The study also identified some challenges hindering effective innovative services and practices. It was discovered that constant electricity coupled with inadequate funds were major roadblocks. Despite these challenges, it was observed that the library is not relenting in efforts to unleash her full potential in providing services that align with the needs of the present environment. This study examined the library users' minimum acceptable, desired, and actual observed service performance level of the University of Saint Louis (USL) College Library along the four service quality dimensions: access to information (AI), affect of service (AS), library as place (LP) and information control (IC). It also sought to determine the interrelationships of library service quality, satisfaction with library services, and loyalty to library and its services. This study utilized a questionnaire ased on (a) the LIbQUAL™ 2003 by the Academic and Research Libraries (ARL) and Texas A&M University Libraries; (b) satisfaction on library services; and (c) loyalty measures. It was distributed among 400 library users. Findings indicated that customers' minimum acceptable service level along AS, LP and IC are generally high except for AI. Customers' desired service level indicated that AI, AS, and IC are generally high except for LP which is very high. USL library did not meet the expectations of the customers by comparing the desired service level vis-a-vis with observed actual service performance level provided. Customers were satisfied with the circulation service, internet/online service, library instruction, current awareness services, reference service, multimedia service, and depository area/service. Customers' satisfaction with the different library services is positively correlated with their loyalty towards the library which is manifested through using the library for related purposes aside from borrowing books; encouraging friends and colleagues to use the library; saying positive things about the library services to other people; and recommending the library to someone who seeks their advice. Correlation indicated that there is a significant direct relationship between library service quality and customers' satisfaction. Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the familiarity of librarians and users of the Central Library of Islamic Azad University, Science and Research Branch of Tehran with Web 2.0, Library 2.0 and Librarian 2.0 and the use of mobile messaging applications. Another goal of this study was to provide practical solutions for using applications to provide library services. Methodology: In essence, this study was an applied research and it was conducted with a survey approach. The population was consisted of librarians and users of the Central Library of Islamic Azad University, Science and Research Branch in Tehran. An electronic questionnaire was prepared for data collection and data analysis was performed using SPSS software. Results: The findings indicated that librarians and library users were more familiar with Web 2.0 applications than Librarian 2.0 and Library 2.0. The frequency of librarians and users' responsiveness to use the mobile messenger applications was quite high, respectively, 0.35 and 0 .40. In both groups, the use of mobile messaging applications was moderate. Library users also agreed on providing a variety of virtual social media services in the library. Conclusion: The analyses of this study on services offered by libraries using mobile messaging applications would make libraries adopt new technologies and move towards changes in the new era. Information seeking is a form of human behavior that involves seeking for information by means of the active examination of information sources or information retrieval systems to satisfy the information need or to solve a problem. This study explores the information seeking behavior of visually impaired students in Maulana Azad Library, AMU. The purpose of the study is to examine the information seeking behavior of visually impaired students in Maulana Azad Library, AMU. A well structured schedule (Performa containing assets of questions) was designed and administered among the visually impaired students. The schedules were also supplemented by informal interviews. The study shows that most of the users (77.5%) seeking information for their career development. The highest percentage of the users uses audio books as information source and found them fairly accessible but face difficulties also because of lack of computers with screen reader software. More than half of the users (52.5%) are satisfied with the overall functioning of the library. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Research on library deviance in Nigeria has largely relied on librarians' accounts, which often portray students as 'deviants' and the libraries as 'victims', however we focus on a holistic account which incorporates both students' and librarians' narratives in the analysis of deviant behaviours in library utilization. Through observations and interviews the paper highlighted some common trends of deviance and the implication on library utility in selected universities. The study reveals a gap in the security of students' personal effects, inadequate electricity supply and a wide range of deviant behaviours associated with the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the library. The impact of these lapses thus put much pressure on both librarians and students users. The study recommends proper funding of libraries to enable the adoption of a 21st Century Library Model which guarantees a variety of spatial and safety arrangements in curbing the menace of deviants in library utilization. This is a survey of the entry-level information literacy skills of first year students. It is a step towards understanding the prior information literacy knowledge of first year students at the University of Benin, and has broader implications for how librarians understand readiness for library research as well as for the future development of information literacy programmes at the secondary school level. Lack of understanding of prior knowledge by university libraries is in itself a barrier to engaging students in the research process in their first year, as it may result in programs that do not inspire students. Methodology adopted is the survey design, and simple randomization was used to select five faculties from the university and 200 new students were randomly selected from the five faculties to make 1000 students. Questionnaire was designed and administered at the point of student's library registration. Result showed that students are not taught information literacy skills from secondary schools and they have little knowledge of information literacy skills. The article focuses on effective library user education programs in the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Library. Fleming said that user education should be programs of instruction provided by libraries to users so that they can effectively and independently use information sources and services available in the library. The author's study found that user education programs were helpful in terms of using the Online Public Access Catalogue to find relevant information. M. Oyesola cited that user education programs in libraries are useful in enabling students to independently find their needed information.

The study found that Polytechnic students were satisfied with the type of information available to them and recognized its significance to their studies.

The article presents research on the reading habits of senior secondary education students in Allahabad City, India, as well as a library use study of their use of their school libraries. A survey of students was conducted on topics including motives for reading, time spent reading on a daily basis and use of reference materials in school libraries. It was found that a large majority of students borrowed books from their school libraries, used reference materials, and read books and periodicals in both the English and Hindi languages.
