Body height and weight were found to contribute significantly in linear regression equations established to estimate lean body weight, body density and leg muscle volume from anthropometric measurements. These two measurements were also found to contribute significantly in linear regression equations established to estimate the body measurements including chest circumference at sea level and high altitude locations. To ascertain whether body weight and height could also be significant predictors of chest circumference of healthy young males in different states of India, the anthropometric data on these three body measurements (viz. chest circumference, height and weight) were collected on 1.00.293 young healthy Indian males aged 16-21 years of 18 states of India using standard anthropometric techniques. Separate multiple linear regression equations for predicting chest circumference were constructed for 18 states of India using height and weight as predictors because these multiple linear regression equations differed significantly from each other.
