The author recognizes the important contribution of French philosopher Christian Delacampagne to the department of Romance Languages and Literatures in Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland. He points out that Delacampagne had all the academic credentials a university could want. He claims that Delacampagne brought his extensive knowledge in literature to the university. While at the university, Delacampagne organized a conference of Jean-Paul Sartre. He also expresses his admiration to Delacampagne for his moral courage.
