In this study, the differences in patient assignments between float pool nurses versus scheduled unit staff nurses were examined. Abstract

The purpose of this exploratory survey study was to determine the perspectives of patients and family visitors about the reasons for and nature of patient- and family-initiated call lights, call light use, and response time to call lights. Fifty-three percent of participants (n=63) perceived most of their call lights mattered to their safety. Abstract

The article discusses research on the importance of the collaboration of nurses and patients to enhance perception, efficiencies and communication of care. The researcher explored a project at a 350-bed trauma hospital in a midwestern city in the U.S. concerning the development of a new approach to patient care. She found that patient satisfaction and quality of care are the top concerns of nurses and physicians in the hospital.
