Background: Telehealth and mHealth apps become increasingly popular in health professions such as physiotherapy calling for increased awareness on functionality, privacy, and data security., Objectives: This work presents a functionality, privacy, and data-security evaluation of four telehealth services commonly used in physiotherapy., Methods: We examined functionality and features, data protection, privacy implementations and data-security with a questionnaire and performed an in-depth investigation of the services., Results: Privacy and security relevant findings such as use of outdated webservers, problems with certificate renewal as well as questionable GDPR compliance were reported., Conclusion: Due to the privacy and security relevant findings in this analysis it can be concluded that there is a need for improvement in design, development, operation as well as regulation of telehealth apps and services.

Traditionally, Electronic Medical Records (EMR) have been designed to mimic paper records. Organizing and presenting medical information along the lines that evolved for non-digital records over the decades, reduced change management for medical users, but failed to make use of the potential of organizing digital data. We proposed a method to create clinical dashboards to increase the usability of information in the medical records. Official clinical guidelines were studied by a working group, including dashboard target users. Necessary clinical concepts contained in the medical records were identified according to the clinical context and finally, dedicated technical tools with standard terminologies were used to represent categories of information. We used this method to generate and implement a dashboard for sepsis. The dashboard was found to be appropriate and easy to use by the target users.

Clinical paper searching is a major task for clinical researchers to collect authoritative and up-to-date evidences to support their research works and clinical practices. Currently, this task needs huge amount of labor work. Researchers usually spend a lot of time searching on the online repository and iterating many times to get the final paper list. Systematic review is a special case, in which the paper searching process is a critical step. To address this challenge, this paper introduces a method to streamline the iterative paper searching process. It automatically selects the most probably matched papers, and then generates new search strategy. All the intermediate results are visualized based on the paper citation graph. It assembles technologies such as PageRank and Topic-based clustering to accelerate the paper searching tasks. The precision, recall, and execution time of the proposed method are then evaluated by comparing with published systematic reviews. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Multi-arm, multi-stage (MAMS) platform trials can accelerate the identification of disease-modifying treatments for Parkinson's disease (PD) but there is no current consensus on the optimal outcome measures (OM) for this approach. Objective: To provide an up-to-date inventory of OM for disease-modifying PD trials, and a framework for future selection of OM for such trials. Methods: As part of the Edmond J Safra Accelerating Clinical Trials in Parkinson Disease (EJS ACT-PD) initiative, an expert group with Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) representatives' input reviewed and evaluated available evidence on OM for potential use in trials to delay progression of PD. Each OM was ranked based on aspects such as validity, sensitivity to change, participant burden and practicality for a multi-site trial. Review of evidence and expert opinion led to the present inventory. Results: An extensive inventory of OM was created, divided into: general, motor and non-motor scales, diaries and fluctuation questionnaires, cognitive, disability and health-related quality of life, capability, quantitative motor, wearable and digital, combined, resource use, imaging and wet biomarkers, and milestone-based. A framework for evaluation of OM is presented to update the inventory in the future. PPIE input highlighted the need for OM which reflect their experience of disease progression and are applicable to diverse populations and disease stages. Conclusion: We present a range of OM, classified according to a transparent framework, to aid selection of OM for disease-modifying PD trials, whilst allowing for inclusion or re-classification of relevant OM as new evidence emerges. BACKGROUND: Workplace inspections are applied to facilitate the adherence to the occupational health and safety regulations. The Iranian Ministry of Health introduced a new software system for tablets to inspect workplaces. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to take measurements of the usability, mental workload, and mood of inspectors. METHODS: Inspectors used both pen-and-paper and tablet methods to inspect the automotive industry in a mixed-method procedure. The NASA-TLX score, QUIS score, I-PANAS (SF) situation, inspection time, and number of errors were collected throughout the procedure. The differences were investigated using a paired sample and the Wilcoxon signed ranks test. RESULTS: In terms of efficacy, using the tablet resulted in lower error rates, but it took longer to complete the inspection task (P < 0.001). Participants perceived a lower workload when inspecting with a tablet rather than the traditional method. CONCLUSION: Although the use of tablets has improved safety inspections, ergonomic redesign of the system and consideration of a user-centered approach, as well as inspector training, can make the system more likely to succeed.
