We investigate the thermal entanglement in the Lipkin—Meshkov—Glick (LMG) model which consists of spin-1/2 particles with XXZ-type exchange interactions between any pair of them. The ferromagnetic (FM) and antiferromagnetic (AFM) cases are completely analyzed at both finite temperature and zero temperature. According to the results obtained by accurate numerical calculation, several interesting physic phenomena and characteristics of thermal entanglement in the LMG model are found. Not only do we evaluate the entanglement of the LMG model, but also discover the correlations between macroscopic physical quantities and thermal entanglement.

Accurate measurements of the binding energy spectrum and momentum distribution of argon are performed using the high resolution (ΔE = 1.4 eV, Δp = 0.1 a.u.) energy multichannel (e, 2e) spectrometer (θ1 = θ2 = 45°, = 0°-±30°) built recently in our laboratory. Detailed satellite structure of argon has been observed. Good agreement can be found between the experimental data and the theoretical calculations performed using Hartree-Fock method with the different basis sets and configuration interaction method.

We demonstrate a high-efficiency continuous-wave Tm:YAG ceramic laser pumped with a Ti:sapphire laser. An output power up to 860 mW is obtained under an absorbed pump power of 2.21 W at 785nm, corresponding to a slope efficiency of 42.1% and optical to optical efficiency of 22%. The measured central wavelength is 2012 nm.

Lasers from a Tm:YAG ceramic aare reported for the first time to our best knowledge. The Tm:YAG ceramic slab is end-pumped by a laser diode with central wavelength 792nm. At room temperature, the maximum continuous-wave output power is 4.5 W, and the sloping efficiency is obtained to be 20.5%. The laser spectrum of the Tm:YAG ceramic is centered at 2015nm.
