Nickel-based superalloys have superior strength properties at higher temperature ranges and thus have become increasingly important in manufacturing gas turbine components for aerospace industry. However, the desire for a larger thrust-weight ratio has raised the typical operating temperature in a gas turbine; thus, thermal barrier coatings are essential. The present work compares the micro-drilling performance of ceramic-coated Nimonic 90 nickel superalloy under dry, flood and 0.5% graphene-based NMQL conditions. The biodegradable acid oil was used as a base oil, and the assessment comprised surface integrity in terms of surface roughness inside the hole and micro-crack formation and hole quality based on the diametrical overcut and taper ratio. Spindle speed (1000, 2000 and 3000 rpm) and feed rate (3, 6, and 9 μm/rev) were changed in three levels, and Taguchi L9 array was applied for the design and analysis of the experiments. Ti-Al-N coated tungsten carbide drill of diameter 700 μm was used, and Analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed that spindle speed was the utmost important parameter impacting surface roughness, while speed and feed rate both influenced overcut and taper ratio. 0.5% Graphene-based NMQL lubrication condition significantly diminished the surface roughness by 52.67%, overcut by 46.86% and the taper ratio by 48.87% as compared to dry condition. Furthermore, in the NMQL condition, micro-crack development and ceramic layer damage were minimized, resulting in better surface integrity. In addition, burr development was minimized at the hole periphery, and tool wandering was not seen in the NMQL condition. Hence the hole quality was superior in NMQL conditions as compared to the dry and flood lubrication.

Here in, we report the synthesis and characterization of Chromium doped Zinc Sulfide nanoparticles (ZnS NPs). Initially, ZnS NPs are synthesized by bio-compatible glycine cap using simple one-pot co-precipitate method, and further it is doped by Chromium. The structure and morphology of these ZnS NPs was confirmed by X-Ray Diffractometry (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope with Elementary Dispersive Spectrum (SEM with EDS) techniques. The optical characterization techniques reveal that the Chromium doping affected the absorption and photoluminescence properties of the NPs. Photoluminescence of these NPs shifts from 384 nm to 428 nm upon Chromium doping. By using Tauc plot we obtained the energy band gap of 4.7 eV and it reduces to 3.9 eV for Chromium dope. The resultant ZnS NPs have size of 2.17nm and 1.86nm (with Chromium doping), also it gives Cubic Zinc blend phase as proved by XRD. The instrumentation techniques SEM with EDS, XRD, FTIR confirms that high purity Chromium doped ZnS NPs can be obtained by the proposed simple, low cost and highly effective method.

In this present work, we have determined the ground and excited state dipole moments of two Rhodamine dyes with similar molecular skeleton and having different functional groups, namely Rhodamine 560 chloride (R560) and Rhodamine 610 Chloride (R610). Absorption and emission spectra of R560 and R610 were recorded in binary mixtures of DMSO-Water and 2 Propanol-Water at varying compositions. The two probes exhibit hypochromic / bathochromic shift in absorption and fluorescence spectra for different compositions of aqueous organic solvents. This shift arises mainly because of polarity of the solvent. By employing solvatochromic shift method we have determined the ground and excited state dipole moments. The experimentally obtained results suggest that the excited state dipole moments of two probes are much higher than their ground state dipole moments.

Engineers are mostly adopting complex non-linear methods to research multi-storey residential apartment structure to withstand earthquake forces. This paper uses much simpler Equivalent Static method to analyse G+5 storey structure to repel earthquake forces using Staad pro software. The seismic analysis is further compared with non-seismic analysis of an equivalent structure using dead load + super load combination. it had been observed that the seismic results obtained consisted of significantly increased maximum moments and shear forces than the non-seismic analysis From past earthquakes it is proved that many of structure ar completely or partly broken because of earthquake. So, it’s a necessity to figure out unstable responses of such structures. The main aim of the present work is to make a comparative study of seismic and non-Seismic structure. The analysis was performed as per the specification of IS codes IS 1893, IS 875, IS 456:2000.

Hydraulic tests were performed on two pilot scale filters as part of a water treatment project in the village of Nersa, Karnataka, India. The filters use locally sourced alluvial material to filter E.coli contamination using natural processes that mimic those in Riverbank Filtration (RBF). Two pilot scale filters were tested, one containing locally sourced granular activated carbon (GAC) and one without. A falling head test and tracer test were preformed, and breakthrough curves were used to analyze the hydraulic performance. E.coli data were also collected, and percent removal was calculated to determine the effectiveness of the filters. Relative to the influent water, the E.coli removal percentage of Filter 1 (no GAC) was consistently high and ranged between 97.1% and 100% E.coli. The addition of GAC did not improve performance in this study. Overall, the effectiveness in bacteria removal observed in the non GAC filter warranted construction of a full-scale system.

This is investigation of the fatigue behaviour of carbon fiber reinforced polymer laminates under various angles of deflections of cantilever beam in bidirectional (R=-1) plane bending. The Unidirectional 45˚ carbon fiber oriented CFRP composite were tested at different cantilever bending angles at frequency of 8 Hz. The non- destructive modal testing is conducted to evaluate reduction in structural stiffness in fully reversed plane bending in terms of natural frequency. The modal test at specific intervals is conducted by interrupting the fatigue test. The curve fitting technique for prediction of fatigue life over experimental analysis is used to formulate behaviour of CFRP in plane bending fatigue. It is shown that A Non-destructive Testing method (Modal Test) can be applied for the fatigue life estimation of CFRP laminates. The natural frequency reduction model is able to represent the overall reduction in stiffness due to fully reversed plane bending fatigue.

We present multi-wavelength imagery of the merger remnant galaxy NGC 1316 with an objective to study the dust content and its association with the other phases of the interstellar medium. Color-index maps as well as extinction maps derived for this galaxy reveal an intricate and complex dust morphology in NGC 1316, i.e. there is a prominent lane in the inner part, while at about 6–7 kpc it apparently takes the form of an arc-like pattern extending along the northeast direction. In addition to this, several other dust clumps and knots are also evident in this galaxy. The dust emission mapped using Spitzer data at 8 μm indicates even more complex morphological structures of the dust in NGC 1316. The extinction curve derived over the optical to near-IR bands closely follows the standard Galactic curve, suggesting similar properties of the dust grains. The dust content of NGC 1316, estimated from optical extinction, is ~2.13×10 5 M ⊙ . This is a lower limit compared to that estimated using the IRAS flux densities of ~5.17×10 6 M ⊙ and the flux densities at 24, 70 and 160 μm from MIPS ~3.2×10 7 M ⊙ . High resolution Chandra observations of this merger remnant system have provided an unprecedented view of the complex nature exhibited by the distribution of hot gas in NGC 1316, which closely matches the morphology of ionized gas and to some extent also the dust. X-ray color–color plots for the resolved sources within the optical D 25 extent of NGC 1316 have enabled us to separate them into different classes.

We performed time resolved spectroscopy of 1H0707–495 and IRAS 13224–3809 using long XMM-Newton observations. These are strongly variable narrow line Seyfert 1 galaxies and show broad features around 1 keV that have been interpreted as relativistically broad Fe Lα lines. Such features are not clearly observed in other active galactic nuclei despite sometimes having high iron abundance required by the best fitted blurred reflection models. Given the importance of these lines, we explore whether the rapid variability of spectral parameters may introduce broad bumps/dips artificially in the time averaged spectrum, which may then be mistaken as broadened lines. We tested this hypothesis by performing time resolved spectroscopy using long (> 100 ks) XMM-Newton observations and by dividing them into segments with typical exposures of a few ks. We extracted spectra from each such segment and modeled them using a two component phenomenological model consisting of a power law to represent the hard component and a black body to represent the soft emission. As expected, both the sources showed variations in the spectral parameters. Using these variation trends, we simulated model spectra for each segment and then co-added to get a combined simulated spectrum. In the simulated spectra, we found no broad features below 1 keV and in particular no deviation near 0.9 keV as seen in the real averaged spectra. This implies that the broad Fe Lα line that is seen in the spectra of these sources is not an artifact of the variation of spectral components and, hence, provides evidence that the line is indeed genuine.

We study the non-spherical gravitational collapse of the strange quark null fluid. The interesting feature which emerges is that the non-spherical collapse of charged strange quark matter leads to a naked singularity whereas the gravitational collapse of neutral quark matter proceeds to form a black hole. We extend the earlier work of Harko and Cheng [Phys. Lett. A 266 (2000) 249] to the non-spherical case.
