The increasing radio frequency interference (RFI) is a well-recognized problem in radio astronomy research. Pulsars and Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs) are high-priority science targets of the ongoing Commercial Radio Astronomy FAST Survey (CRAFTS). To improve the quality of RFI removal in searches of pulsars and FRBs based on CRAFTS multi-beam data, we here propose an intuitive but powerful RFI mitigation pipeline (CCF-ST). The “CCF-ST” is a spatial filter constructed by signal cross-correlation function (CCF) and Sum-Threshold (ST) algorithm. The RFI marking result is saved in a “mask” file, a binary format for RFI masks in PRESTO. Three known pulsars, PSR B0525-21, PSR B0621-04, and PSR J0943 + 2252 from CRAFTS L-band 19 beams data are used for evaluation of the performance of CCF-ST in comparison with other methods, such as PRESTO’s “rfifind”, ArPLS-ST and ArPLS-SF. The result shows that CCF-ST can reduce effective data loss rate and improves the detected signal-to-noise ratio of the pulsations by ∼26% and ∼18% respectively compared with PRESTO’s “rfifind” and ArPLS-ST. The CCF-ST also has the advantage of low computational cost, e.g., reducing the time consumption by ∼40% and memory consumption by ∼90% compared with ArPLS-SF. We expect that the new RFI mitigation and analysis toolkit (CCF-ST) demonstrated in this paper can be applied to CRAFTS and other multi-beam telescope observations to improve the data quality and efficiency of pulsar and FRB searches.

The high-temperature performance of 4H-SiC ultraviolet avalanche photodiodes (APDs) in both linear and Geiger modes is extensively investigated. During the temperature-dependent measurements, a fixed bias voltage is adopted for the device samples, which is much more practical and important for high-temperature applications. The results show that the fabricated 4H-SiC APDs are very stable and reliable at high temperatures. As the temperature increases from room temperature to 425 K, the dark current at 95% of the breakdown voltage increases slightly and remains lower than 40 pA. In Geiger mode, our 4H-SiC APDs can be self-quenched in a passive-quenching circuit, which is expected for high-speed detection systems. Moreover, an interesting phenomenon is observed for the first time: the single-photon detection efficiency shows a non-monotonic variation as a function of temperature. The physical mechanism of the variation in high-temperature performance is further analyzed. The results in this work can provide a fundamental reference for researchers in the field of 4H-SiC APD ultraviolet detectors.

We investigate conventional photon blockade in a non-degenerate four wave mixing system with Kerr non-linearity. By analyzing the Hamiltonian of the system, we have acquired the corresponding condition to implement photon anti-bunching effect. And we solve the master equation with the purpose of obtaining solutions numerically. We find that the analytic conditions could be consistent with numerical results, and photon blockade could be realized in this system. Furthermore, we discuss the effect of several parameters on the realization of conventional photon blockade in detail. The results show that four wave mixing interaction and Kerr non-linearity could significantly enhance the conventional photon blockade effect, whereas the dissipation rate has a negative effect on implementing photon blockade.

Wavelength selection has a major impact on spectral beam combining (SBC) of laser beams that propagate in free space and in the atmosphere. We derive analytical expressions for the intensity and four characteristic quality parameters of free-space SBC beams. We show that the peak intensity, the mean-square beam width, and the M 2 factor of an SBC beam at the target are all larger than those of one single laser beam of the same power and average wavelength. The peak intensity can be made higher by increasing the wavelength spacing but reducing the mean wavelength. However, when an SBC laser beam propagates in the atmosphere, the beam quality depends on the absorption coefficient of the multi-wavelength field due to thermal blooming. A thermal distortion number is introduced for an SBC beam and its validity is confirmed. We show that the power proportion of a high-absorption element within an SBC beam should be as low as possible to reduce the thermal blooming effect.

A transfer reaction and cluster-decay experiment, C( O, Mg α+ Ne)α, was performed at a beam energy of 96 MeV. Both recoil and decay α particles were detected in coincidence, allowing us to deduce the energy-momentum of a Ne fragment. A number of resonant states of Mg were reconstructed up to an excitation energy of approximately 30 MeV. Owing to the experimentally achieved excellent resolutions of the Q-value and excitation-energy spectra, the relative decay widths for each resonant state in Mg to various final states of Ne were extracted, along with the total decay width. The obtained results provide good testing ground for theoretical descriptions of multiple clustering configurations in Mg.

We have derived the analytical formulas for the Kelvin–Helmholtz instability (KHI) of two superposed finite-thickness fluid layers with the magnetic field effect into consideration. The linear growth rate of KHI will be reduced when the thickness of the fluid with large density is decreased or the thickness of fluid with small density is increased. When the thickness and the magnetic field act together on the KHI, the effect of thickness is more obvious when the magnetic field intensity is weak. The magnetic field transition layer destabilizes (enforces) the KHI, especially in the case of small thickness of the magnetic field transition layer. When considering the effect of magnetic field, the linear growth rate of KHI always decreases after reaching the maximum with the increase of total thickness. The stronger the magnetic field intensity is, the more obvious the growth rate decreases with the total thickness. Thus, it should be included in applications where the effect of fluid thickness on the KHI cannot be ignored, such as in double-cone ignition scheme for inertial confinement fusion.

During the long-term preservation process of ancient Chinese paintings, there are various degrees of damage. Manual repair methods are inefficient, professional, and prone to secondary damage. Aiming at the above problems, a UGAN ancient painting restoration model based on an improved Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) is proposed. The model uses GAN as the overall framework. The generator in the framework adopts a U-shaped network (U-Net), and adds a dilated convolution-gated residual block (DCGR-Block) in the middle, which enhances the model’s ability to extract the shallow and deep feature information of the image. In the experiment, the test results are compared with the current mainstream methods. The comparison results show that when repairing the overall deletion, the peak signal-to-noise ratio (SPNR) and structural similarity (SSIM) of UGAN are improved by 8.14% and 4.79% on average compared with the global and local consistency image inpainting (GLCIC). When the rate is higher, the performance of the network model in this paper is also better than that of similar mainstream algorithms.

The isotopic cross sections of residual nuclei produced in fragmentation reactions of 18O projectiles impinging on a carbon target at energies near 260 MeV/nucleon were measured at the HIRFL facility in Lanzhou (China). A full identification of atomic and mass numbers of fragments was achieved from the determination of their magnetic rigidity, energy loss, and time of flight. The production cross sections for a dozen of nitrogen, carbon, and boron isotopes were determined with uncertainties below 30% for most of the cases. The obtained cross sections for N and B isotopes show a rather good agreement with previous experimental data obtained with different projectile energies. The cross sections for some C isotopes seem to exhibit a dependence on the projectile energy. A comparison of the data and several theoretical model calculations are presented.

Megabar pressures are of crucial importance for cutting-edge studies of condensed matter physics and geophysics. With the development of diamond anvil cell (DAC), laboratory studies of high pressure have entered the megabar era for decades. However, it is still challenging to implement in situ magnetic sensing under ultrahigh pressures. In this work, we demonstrate optically detected magnetic resonance and coherent quantum control of diamond nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center, a promising quantum sensor inside the DAC, up to 1.4 Mbar. The pressure dependence of optical and spin properties of NV centers in diamond are quantified, and the evolution of an external magnetic field has been successfully tracked at about 80 GPa. These results shed new light on our understanding of diamond NV centers and pave the way for quantum sensing under extreme conditions.

Solid H2S as the precursor for H3S with incredible superconducting properties under high pressure, has recently attracted extensive attention. Here in this work, we propose two new phases of H2S with P42/n and I41/a lattice symmetries in a pressure range of 0 GPa–30 GPa through first-principles structural searches, which complement the phase transition sequence. Further an ab initio molecular dynamics simulation confirms that the molecular phase P2/c of H2S is gradually dissociated with the pressure increasing and reconstructs into a new P21/m structure at 160 GPa, exhibiting the superconductivity with T c of 82.5 K. Our results may provide a guidance for the theoretical study of low-temperature superconducting phase of H2S.

We have systematically investigated the influence of the gas temperature (T), the Rabi frequencies of the probe laser (Ωp), the coupling laser (Ωc) and the radio-frequency (RF) (ΩRF) on the Rydberg electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) and Autler–Townes (AT) splitting (Δf) by defining a general Doppler mismatch factor D g = ΩRF/Δf in the Rydberg atom-based microwave electrometry. The effect of T on D g is studied in detail from 0 to 1000 K, the results show that D g is insensitive to T when T < 10 μK or T > 10 K, while D g changes significantly with 10 K \,T > 10\enspace \mu K$?> > T > 10 μ K . Then the effects of Ωp, Ωc and ΩRF on factor D g at T = 300 K (typical room temperature) and T = 10 μK (typical temperature of cold atom by laser cooling) are studied in detail, respectively. The results show that the linewidth of Rydberg EIT (ΓEIT) can be used as a key parameter to characterize the dependence of D g on Ωp and Ωc in both cases. D g is insensitive to T, Ωp and Ωc when ΩRF > 3ΓEIT which means that ΓEIT determines the lower limit of the linear region of the RF electric field strength measured by EIT–AT splitting. More interesting, the range where D g is insensitive to Ωp and Ωc can be greatly expanded by lowering the gas temperature to 10 μK. The ranges of parameters where D g is insensitive to T, Ωp, Ωc and ΩRF are given, and such relationship can be easily scaled to other atomic systems. The results can help the selection of various parameters in the experiments and specific applications to ensure the accuracy of measuring the RF electric field.

Rayleigh–Taylor instability (RTI) of finite-thickness shell plays an important role in deep understanding the characteristics of shell deformation and material mixing. The RTI of a finite-thickness fluid layer is studied analytically considering an arbitrary perturbation phase difference on the two interfaces of the shell. The third-order weakly nonlinear (WN) solutions for RTI are derived. It is found the main feature (bubble-spike structure) of the interface is not affected by phase difference. However, the positions of bubble and spike are sensitive to the initial phase difference, especially for a thin shell (kd < 1), which will be detrimental to the integrity of the shell. Furthermore, the larger phase difference results in much more serious RTI growth, significant shell deformation can be obtained in the WN stage for perturbations with large phase difference. Therefore, it should be considered in applications where the interface coupling and perturbation phase effects are important, such as inertial confinement fusion.

With the large-scale development of new energy, large-scale wind power is incorporated into the power grid, the inertia level of the power system continues to decrease, the system regulation ability continues to weaken, and the system stability is seriously challenged. The evaluation of inertia has become a hot research issue for scholars. Firstly, this paper introduces the basic concept and components of power system inertia. Then, the different methods of inertia measurement and evaluation of wind farm and power system are reviewed. Finally, the future research directions in the field of power system inertia evaluation are summarized.

We propose a method of climbing pipe with different diameter, which enables snake robot to divide itself into 3 parts to complete transition on the pipe according to the joints’ state for now. To avoid controlling the robot from building dynamic model, a gait-based open-loop control framework is adopted. An extended kalman filter (EKF) is applied here to estimate the adaptive parameter of gait-based function for different 3 parts and corresponding joints. The adaptive parameter will help snake robot perceive the environment better and climb the pipe more steadily.

The elemental fragmentation cross sections of boron fragments produced by stable and neutron-rich 12-16C beams with a carbon target were systematically measured at an incident beam energy of approximately 240 MeV/nucleon. The measured cross sections were found to increase as the projectile mass number increases. The observed feature is explained qualitatively based on the abrasion-ablation two-stage reaction model and is compared quantitatively with predictions from various reaction models, including empirical and statistical models. All models agree with the measured cross sections within a factor of 2.

Pressure can reduce the distances among atoms, thereby modifying the overall optical characteristics of molecules. In this article, the excited state behavior of perylene is carefully observed under isotropic pressure and non-complexing condition. In a steady state, absorption peak shows red shift and spectral width are broadened with pressure increasing, which is ascribed to the π-electron delocalization between molecules. In a transient state, the transition dynamics presents a wavelike tendency with pressure increasing because the shift of self-tapping exciton state is contrary to that of Y-state with pressure increasing. The results conduce to understanding the influence of inter-molecule interaction on excited state behavior with inter-molecule distance decreasing, which contributes to studying the materials under extreme condition.

We present Arecibo 327 MHz confirmation and follow-up studies of seven new pulsars discovered by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). These pulsars are discovered in a pilot program of the Commensal Radio Astronomy FAST Survey (CRAFTS) with the ultra-wide-bandwidth commissioning receiver. Five of them are normal pulsars and two are extreme nulling slow pulsars. PSR J2111+2132’s dispersion measure(DM: 78.5 pc cm−3) is above the upper limits of the two Galactic free electron density models, NE2001 and YMW16, and PSR J2057+2133’s position is out of the Scutum-Crux Arm, making them uniquely useful for improving the Galactic free electron density model in their directions. We present a detailed single pulse analysis for the slow nulling pulsars. We show evidence that PSR J2323+1214’s main pulse component follows a non-Poisson distribution and marginal evidence for a sub-pulse-drift or recurrent period of 32.3±0.4 rotations from PSR J0539+0013. We discuss the implication of our finding to the pulsar radiation mechanism.
