The title compound, bis(tetrahydrofuran)(5,10,15,20-tetra-p-tolylporphyrinato) iron(II), [Fe(C48H36N4)(C4H8O)2] or [Fe(TTP)(THF)2] (TTP = dianion of meso-tetratolylporphyrin), is a six-coordinate high-spin iron(II) tetratolylporphyrin with two tetrahydrofuran molecules as axial ligands. The FeII atom is at an inversion center. The average Fe—N distance is 2.067 (7) A and the Fe—O distance is 2.3208 (8) A.

The maleonitrile moiety of the title compound, (2Z)-2, 3-bis[(4-nitrobenzyl)sulfanyl]but-2-enedinitrile, C(18)H(12)N(4)O(4)S(2), is almost planar. The two benzene rings are nearly parallel to each other and perpendicular to the maleonitrile plane. Intermolecular S.S and pi-pi interactions are observed in the crystal structure.

The title compound, 2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octa­ethyl-5,10,15,20-tetra­phenyl­porphyrin dichloride toluene 1.33-solvate, C60H64N42+·2Cl−·1.33C7H8, displays a highly S4-saddled porphyrin core with the Cβ atoms displaced 1.23 (9) A out of the N4 plane. All N atoms are protonated and form hydrogen bonds [N⋯Cl = 3.206 (1) A] with chloride anions. An S4 symmetry axis passes through the porphyrin center. The phenyl group of the porphyrin is disordered over two sites, with occupancies approximately 0.6:0.4.
