A hydrogen sulfate salt, C15H18NSe+·HSO4 −·H2O or [BnSeCH2CH(Ph)NH3 +](HSO4 −), of a chiral selenated amine (R)-2-(benzylselanyl)-1-phenylethanamine (BnSeCH2CH(Ph)NH2) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis,1H and 13C{1H} NMR, FT–IR analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The title salt crystallizes in the monohydrate form in the non-centrosymmetric monoclinic P21 space group. The cation is somewhat W shaped with the dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings being 60.9 (4)°. The carbon atom attached to the amine nitrogen atom is chiral and in the R configuration, and, the –C—C– bond of the –CH2—CH– fragment has a staggered conformation. In the crystal structure, two HSO4 − anions and two water molecules form an R 4 4(12) tetrameric type of assembly comprised of alternating HSO4 − anions and water molecules via discrete D(2) O—H...O hydrogen bonds. This tetrameric assembly aggregates along the b-axis direction as an infinite one-dimensional tape. Adjacent tapes are interconnected via discrete D(2) N—H...O hydrogen bonds between the three amino hydrogen atoms of the cation sandwiched between the two tapes and the three HSO4 − anions of the nearest asymmetric units, resulting in a complex two-dimensional sheet along the ab plane. The pendant arrangement of the cations is stabilized by C—H...π interactions between adjacent cations running as chains down the [010] axis. Secondary Se...O [3.1474 (4) Å] interactions are also observed in the crystal structure. A Hirshfeld surface analysis, including d norm, shape-index and fingerprint plots of the cation, anion and solvent molecule, was carried out to confirm the presence of various interactions in the crystal structure.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound comprises of one complex cation, one half of a [Cr2O7]2− anion and four water mol­ecules. The CrIII ion has a distorted octa­hedral coordination by four N atoms of the cyclam ligand and one bidentate oxalate ligand in the cis positions; the conformation of the dichromate anion is staggered., The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cr(C2O4)(C10H24N4)]2[Cr2O7]·8H2O (C10H24N4 = 1,4,8,11-tetra­aza­cyclo­tetra­decane, cyclam; C2O4 = oxalate, ox) contains one [Cr(ox)(cyclam)]+ cation, one half of a dichromate anion that lies about an inversion centre so that the bridging O atom is equally disordered over two positions, and four water mol­ecules. The terminal O atoms of the dichromate anion are also disordered over two positions with a refined occupancy ratio 0.586 (6):0.414 (6). The CrIII ion is coordinated by the four N atoms of the cyclam ligand and one bidentate oxalato ligand in a cis arrangement, resulting in a distorted octa­hedral geometry. The Cr—N(cyclam) bond lengths are in the range 2.069 (2)–2.086 (2) Å, while the average Cr—O(ox) bond length is 1.936 Å. The macrocyclic cyclam moiety adopts the cis-V conformation. The dichromate anion has a staggered conformation. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter­molecular hydrogen bonds involving the cyclam N—H groups and water O—H groups as donors, and the O atoms of oxalate ligand, water mol­ecules and the Cr2O7 2− anion as acceptors, giving rise to a three-dimensional network.

The structure of the complex salt,cis-[Cr(NCS)2(cyclam)]2[Cr2O7]·H2O (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane, C10H24N4), has been determined from synchrotron data. The asymmetric unit comprises of one [Cr(NCS)2(cyclam)]+cation, one half of a Cr2O72−anion (completed by inversion symmetry) and one half of a water molecule (completed by twofold rotation symmetry). The CrIIIion is coordinated by the four cyclam N atoms and by two N atoms ofcis-arranged thiocyanate anions, displaying a distorted octahedral coordination sphere. The Cr—N(cyclam) bond lengths are in the range 2.080 (2) to 2.097 (2) Å while the average Cr—N(NCS) bond length is 1.985 (4) Å. The macrocyclic cyclam moiety adopts thecis-V conformation. The bridging O atom of the dichromate anion is disordered around an inversion centre, leading to a bending of the Cr—O—Cr bridging angle [157.7 (3)°]; the anion has a staggered conformation. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular hydrogen bonds involving the cyclam N—H groups and water O—H groups as donor groups, and the O atoms of the Cr2O72−anion and water molecules as acceptor groups, giving rise to a three-dimensional network.

In the title organic–inorganic salt, [CrCl2(tn)2]2[Cr2O7] (tn is propane-1,3-di­amine), the CrIII ions are coordinated by four N atoms from two tn ligands and two chloride ions in a trans geometry, displaying a distorted octa­hedral arrangement. The crystal packing is stabilized by N—H⋯Cl and N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds., The structure of the title compound, [CrCl2(tn)2]2[Cr2O7] (tn = propane-1,3-di­amine; C3H10N2), has been determined from synchrotron data. The asymmetric unit contains one CrIII complex cation and half a [Cr2O7]2− anion. In the complex cation, the CrIII ion is coordinated by the four N atoms of two propane-1,3-di­amine (tn) ligands in the equatorial plane and by two Cl atoms in a trans configuration, displaying a distorted octa­hedral coordination sphere. The two six-membered rings in the complex cation have an anti chair–chair conformation with respect to each other. The mean Cr—N(tn) and Cr—Cl bond lengths are 2.09 (1) and 2.320 (2) Å, respectively. The slightly bent dichromate anion is disordered over two sets of sites (occupancy ratio = 0.7:0.3) and has a staggered conformation. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter­molecular hydrogen bonds involving the NH2 groups of the tn ligands as donors and the O atoms of the [Cr2O7]2− anion and chlorido ligands as acceptors.

In the title compound, C12H10BrClN2O2S, the sulfonamide group adopts a staggered conformation about the N—S bond [the C—S—N—H torsion angle is 97 (3)°] with the N-atom lone pair bisecting the O=S=O angle. For the C(Ar)—S bond, the ortho-substituted C atom bisects one of O=S–N angles [the C—C—S—N torsion angle is −57.7 (3)°]. The mean planes of the aromatic rings form a dihedral angle of 75.1 (1)°. In the crystal, molecules form inversion dimers through pairs of N—H...NH2 hydrogen bonds. The molecules are further consolidated into layers along the bc plane by weaker N—H...O interactions.

The asymmetric part of the title compound, (C10H16N)2[Cr2O7], contains one cation and a half of the dichromate dianion, which has a staggered conformation and exhibits disorder of the bridging O atom around the inversion center over two positions in a 1:1 ratio. Weak intermolecular C—H...O hydrogen bonds link cations and anions into a three-dimensional structure.

In the title compound, C12H13N3O2, the dihedral angle between the oxazolone ring and the benzimidazole unit is 45.0 (5)°, exhibiting a staggered conformation at the Cα—Cβ bond. In the crystal, a strong N—H...N hydrogen bond links the molecules into a C(4) chain along the c axis while a C—H...O hydrogen-bonding interaction generates a C(5) chain along the a axis, i.e. perpendicular to the other chain.

In the title compound, C15H17NO2S, the aromatic rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 32.8 (1)°. The ethyl group and phenyl ring on the N atom adopt a staggered conformation with respect to the O atoms.

In the title compound, C10H22NO6P, a staggered conformation is found when the molecule is viewed down the central P—C bond, with the oxo and hydroxy groups gauche to each other. The crystal structure features supramolecular chains of helical topology propagating along the b axis, mediated by O—H...O hydrogen bonds.

In the title compound, C14H21FNO6P, a staggered conformation about the central P—C bond occurs, with the oxo and hydroxyl groups occupying diagonally opposite positions. The crystal structure features supramolecular chains mediated by O—H...O hydrogen bonds, which propagate in the a-axis direction. A C—H...O interaction consolidates the chains. Disorder was resolved for one of the isopropyl groups with a 0.60 (2):0.40 (2) occupancy ratio for the two components.

The title compound, C15H12O3, was obtained unintentionally as the by-product of an attempted recrystallization from methanol of propantheline bromide, an antimuscarinic drug. The xanthone unit is folded, with a dihedral angle of 24.81 (9)° between the benzene rings. The ester substituent adopts a trans staggered conformation, with a C—C—O—C torsion angle of 178.4 (1)°. The molecules pack in distinct layers, facilitated by C—H...π and weak π–π ring interactions. A weak C—H...O interaction also occurs; however, no classical hydrogen bonding is observed.

The complex mol-ecule of the title compound, [Cu(2)Fe(4)(C(5)H(5))(4)(C(6)H(4)O(2))(4)(CH(3)OH)(2)]·2CH(3)OH, lies about an inversion centre and contains two centrosymetrically related Cu(II) atoms bridged by four O:O'-bidentante ferrocene-carboxyl-ate anions, leading to a dimeric tetra-bridged unit with a paddle-wheel geometry. The Cu(II) atom has a distorted square-pyramidal coordination environment with four O atoms from four ferrocene-carboxyl-ate ligands in basal positions and an O atom from a methanol mol-ecule in an apical position. One of the two crystallographically independent ferrocenyl groups has a staggered conformation, while the other is eclipsed. The mol-ecules are connected into a chain along the b axis by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving coordinated and uncoordinated methanol mol-ecules and the O atom from a ferrocene-carboxyl-ate unit.

The title complex, [Fe2(C5H5)2(C18H20O)], formed by dehydration of 1-ferrocenylbut-3-en-1-ol, crystallizes as a racemic compound. The central C—O—C fragment, in which the C atoms are the chiral centers, is characterized by an angle of 116.26 (10)° at the O atom. One ferrocene group shows a staggered conformation whereas the other shows an eclipsed conformation.

The structure of the title compound, [Fe(C5H5)(C10H12N2)]I, consists of a 1-(ferrocen-1-ylmethyl)-3-methylimidazolium cation which is counter-balanced by an iodide anion. The cyclopentadienyl (Cp) rings of the ferrocene unit have a slightly staggered conformation skewed from an ideal eclipsed conformation by an angle of 3.5 (6)°. The interplanar angle between the Cp and the imidazole ring is 67.94 (2)°.

The molecule of the title compound, [Fe(C26H31)2], is located on an inversion center. The two cyclopentadienyl rings exhibit a staggered conformation, which results from the bulky bis(4-tert-butylphenyl)methyl substituents situated on opposite sides of the molecule.

The title compound, C6H7N3, has an ethylene group connecting an imidazole ring and a –CN group. These groups are in a staggered conformation. The shortest intermolecular contact is found between the imidazole N atom and a –CH2– group of a neighboring molecule.

In the title molecule, C17H15NO5S, the dihedral angle between the essentially planar atoms of the tosyl moiety (the S atom and the seven tolyl C atoms) and the phthalimide moiety is 6.089 (3)°. The molecule is folded about the ethylene bridge, adopting a staggered conformation such that the benzene ring of the tosyl group and the five-membered ring of the phthalimide moiety have a face-to-face orientation with a centroid-to-centroid separation of 3.7454 (12) Å. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak intermolecular π–π interactions between symmetry-related five-membered rings of the phthalimide groups, with a centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.3867 (11) Å. The compound is used for the attachment of a suitable chelate functionality for radiolabeling purposes.

In the title compound, C21H18N6S2, the dihedral angles between the aromatic rings in the two 4-(4-pyridyl)pyrimidine residues are 23.45 (13) and 2.67 (14)°. Whereas one of the C—S—C—C torsion angles corresponds to a staggered conformation, the other is gauche.

In the title compound, [Fe(C(17)H(20)NO(2)Si)(2)], the Fe atom is situated on a crystallographic centre of inversion, leading to a perfectly staggered conformation of the Cp rings.
