Abstract

The article discusses research done on the population structure of Caretta caretta, a loggerhead turtle and marine carnivore that displays varying foraging behaviors. Knowledge of detailed population genetic structure is associated with the management and conservation of endangered species. The study procedure included the assessment of the genetic differences between two feeding-habitat groups within two nesting sites in Japan with the use of mitrochondrial (mt) deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) sequences and microsatellite loci.
