Abstract

The article discusses the findings of a study on the use of sterile, free-range larvae of the green bottle fly Lucilia Sericata as an effective and safe way of treating diabetic foot ulcers colonized with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). According to the author, in the preliminary study, larval therapy was applied to MRSA-colonized ulcers for four days. According to Frank L. Bowling, one of the authors of the study, larval treatment would offer the first noninvasive treatment.
